This event is disappointing and feels so lackluster compared to last year. Did something happen internally at BHVR since last year that has decreased manpower or resources they're able to dedicate to events like this? Because over the past few events and chapter releases, it's felt noticeable from a player perspective. It literally feels like nobody cares about this stuff internally and it's just shipped out because it's obligatory.
This seems to be the sentiment all across the community. The recent content releases have been really poor in terms of quality and apparent effort. It’s almost as if they’re testing the community to see what is the bare minimum amount of resources to put into content to get people to buy it.

A survivor can't do anything but hide when the killer is slugging for the 4k. the last surv doesn't have any options other than going for the downed person or doing the 1-5 gens which either way results in a likely down. so the game is at a stale mate until ( A ) the downed person bleeds out or ( B ) the killer finds the last survivor hiding and kills him. Or ( C ) being able to revive your teammate and doing it all over again, making the game take an extra 15 min therefore I call it holding the game hostage. Where's the devs at can I get some answers. I would like y'all to clarify what holding the game hostage is. Cause if we can't progress the game until our teammate bleeds out are we not being held hostage? Or is it an exploit. Cause there using in game mechanics to the detriment of the game? Until I am answered I will continue to report. They should not be allowed to deny the last piece of hope a survivor can have.
My guess is by now your continued reporting of things that aren’t reportable has simply put you in the “auto-trash bin” category, so you’re simply wasting your time by doing that.

Before the update it was like instant Survivor queue, and around 1 minute for Killer. But now I have to queue for 1-2 mins for Survivor, but almost instant for Killer. The BP Bonus becomes killer much more often than before.
It's just me or anyone feels the same?
I am in US eastern time zone and with very few exceptions I haven’t seen any change to the historically normal queue time pattern even through the whole “all survivors are quitting” thing. Instant queues during daytime hours when there aren’t many people playing survivor with their friends, and long survivor queues/instant killer queues in the evenings when people are on with their friends playing survivor.
However, incentives are still broken (they have been for months and months now) and I will often see incentives on the role that has the longer queue time. -

I love how people downvote this because they don’t like hearing that some players actually want to play survivor. What a wonderful place this is.

So many complaints about the rift, but nothing is going to change if players are still spending money on the game. It’s hard to feel sorry for people who are upset about the quality of paid content when they keep feeding BHVR their money anyway.
-
I really don’t understand the rationale behind not brining items. People are free to play the way they want, but people are also free to find other lobbies if their teammates refuse to bring items that can only help them win with no downside. Agree that it’s basically like intentionally leaving perk slots empty.

So can't vault windows more than three times and now killer mains want us to have less pallets? Sorry you can't win chases but survivors deserve those pallets for balance.
Nobody is asking for fewer pallets than we had before in the maps that were already either fine or survivor-sided. Nobody has a problem with a few extra pallets on maps with bad dead zones. But that’s not what happened. What happened was extra pallets just spammed in every map with zero QA checking whatsoever to ensure that extra broken loops weren’t added to maps that didn’t need them.

If a few people can break the game, anyone can. I don't think we should minimize it a few people are exceptions.
If survivors require high precision team effort, why is information hidden from survivors and gifted to killers? Why is voice not a central primary feature in the game? Why are survivors scored individually instead of team performance?
I really think killers, like yourself, want the game like it is. It feeds into an ego to enter a match as one person to have a significant game breaking advantage over FOUR individual players.
I play survivor more than killer. I have shown my stats to prove it - something you have never done. I want a balanced game for both sides because I play both sides.
If “anyone” can break the game, please show us yourself. Show us how easy it is to dominate as killer. This is just a ridiculous statement. It’s like saying “if LeBron James can score 60 points in an NBA game, then anyone can!”
I honestly believe that you are sincere in your frustrations with the survivor side. That is totally fair and you are entitled to that opinion. There is no rule that says you have to play both sides to post here. But when you so often make everything an “us vs them” thing, constantly antagonizing the side you don’t play while claiming “oh it’s so easy to win as killer” when you’ve never experienced that role yourself, it’s really hard to take your concerns seriously. -

I know it's very frustrating when a survivor is outplaying a killer. That's bad and obviously requires fixing.
Can you show us how to get quick/easy downs as killer with when survivors are looping these strong tiles connected together? How long should the average survivor chase last?

If good killers can win thousands without ever losing, why can't survivors?
I don't know why survivors are satisfied with losing when killers are entitled to winning most of the time. My complaint is survivors should be able to drastically increase their win rates with skill when killers can with less. The balance has never fit usual PvP games.
How many killer players ever have “thousands of wins without losing”? Please stop using the most extreme cases to generalize the average player experience. You are not going against these thousand win streak killer players ever, I guarantee you.
Survivor is a team experience, like it or not - that’s why you don’t have as much control over your correlation between skill and winning as killers do. There is no possible way, based on the game design, to make the skill:win correlation exactly the same between killer and survivor. Ain’t gonna happen. It seems like you (and others who share your mindset) expect the experience of both sides to be exactly the same like any other generic PvP fighting or shooter game. If you’re looking for that, sorry but DbD is not the game for you.If you have constructive suggestions for how to make survivor as easy with win within an individual player’s control as the killer role is, that would be great and please share. That would be far more helpful than constantly calling for killer nerfs.

I think people forget this is a PvP game and not a PvE game. Survivor has been pure ass to play a long time with survivors always having an incentive to play the game and killer queues being longer. In 2v8, you can't even play killer without being forced to play miserable ass survivor. Let's not forget that.
How often are you escaping as survivor? Every post I’ve ever seen you make mentions how miserable the survivor experience is. Are you like never, ever escaping? Can you show us some of your gameplay? Average escape rate is 40%. I feel like I’m a pretty mediocre survivor player and I’m slightly above the 40% average. If you’re way below the average, I don’t know what to tell you other than try to learn better strategies and practice more to improve you own gameplay. I was very bad at survivor for a long time, but with practice and watching other good survivors on YouTube, I have been able to get to the point where I’m “average” and it I’m pretty good with that.

Dbd 2 would be the end of most players who have at least some financial restrictions.
I would NOT rebuy this game. Not even talking about DLCs.
What BHVR needs to do is stop churning out chapters like there's no tomorrow. Spread them out. You have time to fix bugs in-between them.
Agree. At this point, BHVR needs to figure out a different business model because the constant cranking out of new content is becoming less and less sustainable. This is glaringly obvious by how increasingly buggy, broken and unfinished each chapter release has become in recent years. Slow down the releases, focus on game health, and find other ways to replace the revenue from super frequent chapter releases.
With that said, I could be very wrong about this path being unsustainable because what is also very clear is that most people don’t stop playing the game or spending money on it even with the ever-increasing amount of quality and game balance issues. It has worked for BHVR for almost 10 years now and there is no serious competition in this genre. -
Agree. Original version was obnoxious and kinda busted, but current version is useless and not worth bringing into a match over a medkit or toolbox.

Yes I would also love to see this person’s gameplay to show us all how they 4K regularly without ever camping, tunneling or slugging. My solid bet is that we will never see proof of this, just like most of the other times that similar claims have been made on this forum.

I have a conspiracy theory that they've intentionally boosted the most hated maps (indoor ones) as a means to collect some stats on them or something. There's talk of them doing something big with maps next year — reworks perhaps?
I think you’re probably right. But the only data they’re going to gather from me is “player didn’t log in for three weeks during map testing” 😂
-
You won’t see any response unless revenue starts to dramatically drop. The only reason BHVR continues to get away with releasing sub-par quality content is because people keep spending money on the game. Nothing is going to change unless people start voting with their wallets.
-
For some unknown and infuriating reason, certain maps are getting boosted. It seems to be pissing off a lot of players, and I’m pretty sure nobody has been asking for this, so it’s a mystery why BHVR is doing this. I guess as long as the player count stays stable, there’s no reason for them to stop doing it.
-
A lot of the us vs them toxicity would go away if people bothered to play both sides. It’s very easy to identify who exclusively plays one side or the other when you see that literally every single one of their posts is blaming “killer mains” or “survivors mains” for problems in the game.
It would also be great to see some updates to the forum rules to ban posts that are solely intended to bait people into “us vs them” arguments. Looking through the comments in any given thread it’s pretty easy to identify which ones fit that description. -
I’m pretty sure most people’s hardware would spontaneously ignite given how much this game already struggles with poor optimization compared to pretty much every other game out there.

Posting stats arent proof of anything. I dont know how people believe whgile its super easy to fake them. And even if theyre real nobody could make a clear guess out of it unless theyre biased.
I’m not going to argue with you anymore. Given your refusal to provide any evidence whatsoever that you play killer, we can let everyone draw their own conclusions.

Thats the argument of those who wont have any logical reasoning to begin with. How do I know that you are even able to understand those stats in the right way? Do you even believe that those stats would be real? I could tell you a dozen of arguments why posting stats doesnt do aynthing useful at all.
This is the same kind of answer you’ve given every time you’ve ever been challenged to provide your killer stats. You could very easily silence the doubters here if you would simply provide any proof at all that you play the killer side.
-
@DeBecker said:

So killers DCing = toxic but you DCing because you don’t like the killer (Blight is not bad at all, btw) is not toxic?

Probably because players DC so often against Twins because their main strategy is to slug the entire team.

@SpringMyTrap said:
I dont think gen speeds are a problem if you're applying enough pressure.
Can you show us how to do this with mid- to low-tier killers?
-
It really comes down to the massive gap between the top-tier killers and the bottom-tier killers. It’s no shock that survivors complain about seeing the top tier killers so frequently when most of the killer roster is not viable against decent survivor teams that focus on cranking gens out.
-
@OrangeBear said:
I think in general it's not okay that BHVR updated so many maps at once with no notice and so subtly putting it as a "quality of life" update too. I know they updated a lot of maps overtime for killer but they only did that one at a time
Calling it “quality of life” is straight up dishonest, frankly. Adding more pallets to maps is a pure survivor buff. If that’s what was intended, then fine, but the devs need to at least be honest about it.
-
@ProfessorAutodidact said:
I think people who downvoting you simple are not aware of all the changes that have been made.
You can't seriously tell me that buffing map like Asylum, that has allready great main building and the map is pretty big is something that was good choice. Go look on Youtube or in custom games for your self, its absolutely overdone on some maps. Not all of them, like Haddonfield needed more pallets because that map was awfull for Survivors and now it's better.
The people downvoting this are the usual ones who don’t play killer and thus don’t care how badly any changes made to the game affect the killer player experience.
-
Oh hey look, it turns out that survivor is not “literally impossible” and not everyone has 90% kill rate on killer 😆 It’s very telling that the stats posted so far are pretty close together - kind of confirms what is really “normal”. It’s amazing what you find out when people actually share their stats rather than claiming without any evidence that one side or the other is way too difficult just to stir up “us vs them” toxicity.
I don’t play as Claudette or Bubba much at all anymore, but I did a lot in my early days of DbD. Bubba is very weak against good survivors unless you play super scummy, and I seem to face good survivors pretty regularly now, so I have to go with higher tier killers to not get stomped.
-
I’ve thought the same thing too but before we get super pissed off at BHVR, can anyone confirm that 1) cheaters are actually still using these thousands of Epic burner from the free giveaway promotion from years ago, and 2) even if they are, does BHVR or Epic have the ability to do anything about it?
The solution that would make the most sense is to simply deactivate any unused account from that promotion. There’s literally no downside to doing that. If BHVR are has the ability to do this and is simply choosing not to, then yeah that’s basically saying they don’t really care about combatting the cheating problem. -
This happened to me today too with the same maps as OP. It’s incredibly frustrating and I don’t even want to play now because it’s the same terrible maps every game.
Why do the devs keep doing stuff like this that nobody is asking for? -
@brewingtea said:
Sweating your butt off for [a tie] at most … gets unfun pretty quickly.
But only when you're playing killer, apparently. This doesn't apply to survivor for some reason, right?
I just said I am fine with a 40% escape rate as survivor. That feels right in terms of difficulty level for survivor, while 60% kill rate feels about right in terms of difficulty for killer.

Completely agree but killer mains don't get it because they never play solo q survivor.
Stop with the constant “us vs them” garbage. Plenty of “killer mains” play survivor too. Saying stuff like this is solely intended to stir up divisiveness and it adds nothing productive.
-
@mecca said:
The game is extremely killer sided. It is not hard to understand people find survivor unplayable/unwinnable. It's always a survivor incentive.
Yet, BHVR just sits around taking orders from killer main streamers like a maid.
I really think most people just get tired of waiting or tired of playing killer, switch to survivor and find it too hard to win. That's what I think of most DCs.
It’s not “always survivor incentive”. I always see killer incentive and very short killer queues during the evenings, and long killer queue times during the daytime, just like it has always been ever since I started playing the game back in 2018.
BHVR listens to players who play both sides and have a good understanding of game balance. They thankfully don’t listen to those people who only play one side and are constantly trying to stir up “us vs them” divisiveness.
-
The devs playing solo queue probably experience the same things as the overall solo queue player base. Around 40% average escape rate. That’s about where I’m at in solo queue as well and that feels fine to me. Anything much higher than 40% average escape rate and the game becomes a grueling sweat fest for killers. How do I know this? I play killer as well. Sweating your butt off for two kills at most match after against very good survivors gets unfun pretty quickly. 60% kill rate on the killer side and 40% escape rate on the survivor side feels the most balanced to me as someone who plays both roles about equally.
BHVR realizes that overall most players (at least those who play both sides) feel this way as well, which is why they balance around these rates. Of course they can’t make everyone happy, and they won’t be able to please those who have unreasonable expectations. -
What is your escape rate? I’m not that good, play solo queue, and my average escape rate is over 40%. It’s absolutely doable.
-
@Alicia_Tried6041 said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4009946#Comment_4009946
Wrong. The game is mostly solo q. Killers 4k solo almost regular and sometimes swf as well. The games out of balance. BHVR should realize its too easy for killers. Especially ghoul and krasue. They both need an entire rework because broken.
Can you explain how the average kill rate for solo queue is only 60% if “killers 4k solo almost regular”? Not sure how that math works.
-
The fact that the devs called this “quality of life” is laughable. Quality of life is something like auto recover when you’re in the ground. Simply adding more pallets to maps is a straight up buff to survivors.
-
@Alicia_Tried6041 said:
Guess all maps got to be killer sided and we have no pallets for the killer mains to be happy. Maybe we should all start out injured and the killer right in our face.
Nobody is asking for that. All you’re doing is intentionally misrepresenting what people are saying to stir up toxic “us vs them” divisiveness.

Like any other competitive thing (sports, gaming, performing arts, etc), everyone has a natural skill cap. Don’t feel bad about it - you have to either accept that this is probably as good as you’ll get at the game, or if you’re not satisfied with that, the only option is to play something else.

I'm used to the normal mix of good and bad matches, but recently my solo queue teammates have been toxic. If I try to rat for hatch I get sold out every game without exception, and I hit second on first hook quite a lot. In the past my teammates would at least acknowledge that I'm on the same team as them, is this some kind of retaliation for the anti-tunnel changes not coming through?
If you’re admitting that you rat for hatch, I don’t think you’re going to get any sympathy. Your teammates should absolutely sell you out if you’re doing this.

There is 0 communication and teamwork in solo q. Maybe play a few matches before spreading false information.
There is no communication, but there is definitely teamwork if my teammates know how to play the game. I’ve have plenty of solo q matches where someone gets tunneled and/or camped but because people know what to do and stay on gens, the killer ends up with at most one kill. Just because someone had a different experience than you doesn’t make their experience “false information”.

You’re entitled to your opinion, but I think you’re in the minority on this one. I haven’t seen any complaints about Clown in quite a while. I had a solo queue match against him a couple of days ago and everyone got put. He didn’t seem that difficult to deal with at all. I will agree that good Clowns are very annoying to go against because the counterplay is limited and very boring.
