In regards to Fire Up, I'm not sure how much that would change. Ultimately if the killer starts running super fast and you get hit, you're going to feel cheated whether he loses that speed afterwards or not. Given that the speed only last 30 seconds, it's not very likely that they're going to go on a rampage and down everyone with it, it'll just feel like a cheap hit or down for the survivor you're currently chasing.

Why is this different from the killer feeling like they were cheated out of a hit from DH/SB/BL/Lithe? Either way, someone starts running super fast out of nowhere and there's nothing you can do about it.

I can definitely see why cross progression would be a bit finicky, but I see absolutely no reason for there not to be optional cross play if the can get the licenses for it.

The big reason for cross-play would be how finicky Sony is with allowing it. They used to have a blanket no for all games, and have slowly been loosening up about it. However, it's still mainly just for big hits and AAA titles. Not sure if cross progression would have the same stuff holding it back.

I think it would be cool if it shocked in the middle first, and then the outside afterwards. It'd be like a ripple effect that if used correctly, could increase a survivor's madness tier super fast.

Oh, that's a really cool idea. Make it so they can only be hit by one layer of it, no matter what. I'd also kinda like to see outside first, and then inside, so that you can make plays where survivors are forced to stand still for a second to dodge it, but don't just get away free if they do. It would be a much better zone denial tool like that.

Try to keep comments productive, no need for hate and people screaming "Mains" in this thread. Stating a fact that it is impossible to deal with doc. He was fine before, just fix his bugs. Irredescent King was a stupid idea. I've played 5 games now using Huntress Lullaby, Unnerving, Overcharge and Thrill of the Hunt. They get one gen done then it's a snowball. It reminds me of Oni when he had a massive flick. Seriously, way too much.

Keep playing against Doc and you'll figure out how to counter him. Want an easy game? Bring Calm Spirit. If you don't want to bring the perk that takes away his biggest advantage, that's a you issue.

  • This is a bug. Please post it in the bug reports board.

  • Some people have issues with the stalk progression resetting up to ~30% of the bar when the server seems to disagree whether they could actually see a survivor. I also haven't had this issue, but I've seen clips of it, and some people have it so bad that it's not reasonable to play these killers.

  • I went up against a guy that typed exactly like that, and had the same complaints. He then started complaining that I was being too nice, and that I "wouldn't go anywhere" as long as I "faked" being a nice person when I let him know that I was sorry he didn't enjoy the match, and wished him a good one next time around. He was also super rude to his teammates, calling them all a bunch of unpleasant stuff before giving up after nobody else responded. Hopefully they can find a way to enjoy the game sometime.

  • If he's walking toward you, he's giving you the space to get behind something. The real issue is when he backs up, and pulls you away from anything you could possibly hide behind. But yeah, what everyone else said. His actual chain is pretty weak, and is rather easy to break. It also does almost nothing to you once you're wounded, so overall he's kinda weak. Fun to play, but weak.

Just practice against huntress, and you'll naturally get better at avoiding DS, too.

  • Used to be Freddy, since he was fun to just go in and pester people with. These days... Well, nobody gives the same experience, but probably the closest experience is Myers or GF. It's nice managing your TR and getting the drop on survivors who haven't noticed you, and I seem to be pretty decent at it.

  • The TR volume scales with percentage, so it'll get louder faster than other killers once you're in his TR. Just keep an ear out, and always look around. He still has the red stain, so you should be able to get to a loop before he finds you either way.

  • @Peanits said:

Conveniently enough, Saboteur was also nerfed between the PTB and live. If your sabotage gets interrupted for any reason (you let go, or you get hit), the perk goes on cooldown.

That's actually pretty nice. But it doesn't apply to toolboxes, right? I think it might be kinda nice if it would at least be interrupted long enough for the killer to stick the carried survivor on the hook real fast before the sabo can be started again. Seems like it would be a bit too easy for survivors to use the hook as a low-risk way to stop the hook and force the killer to circle the hook to try to hit them twice before the carried survivor wiggles off.

  • @Peanits said:

To put it very simply, it was one of those things that appeared very unpopular at first glance, but there was a cult following to it. Since it's an add-on and completely optional, there's no harm in bringing it back.

Any chance we could see a bit of an update to it? Say, filling in the hole, or at least making it a bit smaller?

  • @RobMeister88 said:

Imo all he needs is to have 115% ms and the ability to pull people over downed pallets and windows, then he can easily be B tier and not someone that's essentially the illegitimate child of Legion and Huntress, because at the moment, that's how his mechanics feel like.

He can hit people through windows without issue when they're chained.

That isn't even remotely true. I have no idea where you got that information. Revealing him requires you to see 20% of his body and face in the center-most part of your screen.

And if you're viewing him from any angle but the other side of the obstruction, his sweet little head isn't quite 20% of his body, is it?

  • @OperationMintyHippo said:

I kms on hook when I go against them as well lol. Only if the game says I don't see him while I'm literally staring him face to face. Like do I need to lick his booty hole before the game knows I see him or???

I must also add that sometime it reveal them when I literally don't even know where they are.

Regardless, he needs a major fix on both sides.

What you probably need to do is back up, actually. If you're too close, too much of his model is outside of the detection zone. And honestly, if you see him in a place that isn't open, just start running. You'll get a much better chance of not being exposed if you try to reveal him during a chase. Either that, or he loses distance each time he tries to stalk you, unless you were already pocketed before that. In which case... Well, you got outplayed.

  • Leaning means that you can't reveal him unless you're behind him. Please learn how he works, and you'll have a much better time.

  • Retribution is also really good with Devour Hope, since only two hexes will let people know you're either running Retribution or Haunted Grounds, and I've found people are super unlikely to pop hexes in that situation.

I literally just bought Gunslinger and Ghost Face today. That's the only ones I have that didn't come with the game. I just started playing a month ago after a year or so break. Earned 11k shards in a few weeks.

Oh man, you have a lot of options, then. Top of my list would be Doctor, Hag, or Spirit, purely based on fun. From what you've said about DS so far, I'm thinking you might like Doc the most. Also, very good call on picking up GF. He's an absolute blast every time.

  • Devs said in PTB that the toolboxes should repair 50% faster. Put in a bug report if your experience doesn't match this.

I play Killer and typically float between ranks 7-10 so I'm well aware of the broken crappy matchmaking and facing full red rank teams. My point still stands. If you're only getting 2 hooks in a whole game, you're doing something wrong.

It is obvious that they're doing something wrong. That's why they're green rank killers and not red rank, and so should be matched with people who are doing a similar amount of wrong things.

What in sam hill is an "mmr"? Seriously though, I have no clue what you're talking about.

Matchmaking rank. The change of the old matchmaking method for the new, hidden matchmaking method. This is a pretty common acronym used in a bunch of online games.

  • Spirit was garbage on release, and Freddy was garbage ~a week after release.

  • They really should've just filled in the hole. At least then it would've had some actual utility.

  • Devour Hope on him is absolutely gangbusters, and with his new perk, it seems like people are afraid to bust totems again. It's absolutely wonderful, real talk.

With 2.5 second sabo, you need a little more warning.

Why does the warning require a perk, if it's needed?

  • @Peanits said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1145936#Comment_1145936

It's neat on paper, but then you'd run into the issue of people immediately opening the gate at the start of the match to force not only themselves, but everyone in the match to derank.

You guys are getting rid of ranks soon, though. Would this still impact the skill-based MMR that is being implemented?

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Don't misunderstand me @Raven9 I may sounds like I want the devs to do something for me, I'm just wanting to confirm the situation.

Oh, didn't know about Maps being resized? Thats sounds excellent.

The devs haven't confirmed any maps are being resized yet. They have said, however, that they want to rework a few maps, but that we shouldn't expect it anytime soon. I believe that user is spreading misinformation.

  • @Almo said:

Yes, we listen. We can't act on everything we see for many reasons. But we're definitely paying attention. I can think of a few updates we've made because of suggestions we saw here.

Any chance you could mention what a few of those are? I see a lot of folks say that the team doesn't listen, and it would be nice to have a few concrete things to point them to.

Edit: I see you did just this a bit further up. Thanks!

  • There's a bunch of perks designed to help you with this. Use one of them. If you aren't using them, you are choosing to give up the method of punishment the devs are putting in. Heck, your team should be done with all the gens before the second phase is finished. It's not the killer's fault if your team isn't doing their objective.

  • Matchmaking has been broken for a while. As killer, you'll pretty much only get red rank survivors. The devs have said they're aware of the issue, but they don't plan on fixing it until the new matchmaking system is in place, which will rely on a new secret rank, and will hide the current rank in the post-game screen. They also refuse to discuss how the new rank will be determined, or how they'll do anything to mitigate the problems caused by there being far higher ratio of survivors to killers than there should be.

So yeah, things are busted, the devs know, nobody knows when it will be fixed, or how the devs actually want to fix it.

  • If the devs changed it so the last survivor can pull themselves off the hook, the killer will just stand by the hook until the survivor is sacrificed. Nothing will change, you'll just be wasting everyone's time.

  • Either fix the problem on your end that's causing such consistent DCs, or find a different game to play. Those are your options. You're ruining the game for everyone else whenever you DC from the game, no matter what the cause is.

It has been literal months since I've been DCed due to bugs in this game. It would be a different matter if everyone was having this issue, but this problem is absolutely isolated to just you.

  • Personally, I usually think it's really funny. Most GFs use it either to meme around, or after a particularly good play. And, like, good! Killers deserve to be able to enjoy themselves occasionally in this game.

But yeah, I don't do it myself unless it's in a match where everyone already knows that I'm not going for kills, like when they're at the gate just after farming or something.

  • 6 hour time-out happens after 8 DCs. If you can't play for a single day without DCing 8 times, please find a different game to play.

  • It's not bannable, unless you arranged for it before the game. If a survivor wants to betray their team to give themselves a better chance of getting out, that's a fully valid gameplay tactic, and the devs have been super clear on this.

  • How will that fix the issue? The big complaint right now is that killers are being matched with survivors who are far more skilled than them. This would change absolutely nothing, and just obfuscate the actual problem with matchmaking.

  • Not literally every game, but often enough that it feels annoying to play this game. These days, especially with matchmaking completely busted wide open, I just go into every match assuming it will be awful and I'll have ~3 minutes for the entire match. I adjust my expectations once I get a few hooks in, since things aren't too bad if all five gens haven't popped at that point.

    A - I'm not complaining I am reporting a bug

B - I play a lot I crash every 30 games or so. People rarely intentionally DC where they can simply suicide on the hook nowadays fyi.

If you are reporting a bug, post this in the bug report section, or open a ticket with the support team. This is not the place to do so.

Many issues with what you are suggesting. The devs have already told us there is no real way to combat SWF because you cannot prove who is and isn't using Mics. Then the issue with adding map wide comms is there is no real way to buff the killers enough without breaking the game completely for people who want to play the game without comms the way it was meant to be played.

Proximity chat could maybe work because if we are a room of strangers I have no idea what your discord is so how would I join it?

I know my idea is just as bad but they could always make two rooms one for Solo survivors and one for peoples on Mics. Then the killer if he wants can go against the SWF team for the added challenge and maybe even boosted BP points.

Really there will never and probably can't be a real solution to the SWF issue. We can just do the best we can to play and have fun.

Everything you said is precisely why I said it has to be map-wide. If you make it proximity chat, SWF will still just use Discord, and so have an advantage over solo queue, so you'll still have the exact same issues that you have with balancing right now.

One of many risk and reward scenarios in this game. There are many of these on both killer and survivor.

I think the game is at it's best when you do mind games. I think of all the "problems" this game has this isn't one of them.

It's not a mindgame. There's no game to it. It's just a degenerate strategy.

  • Got a message that I was tunneling all four survivors off the hook the entire game. Like, dang, I'm way more skilled than I thought to be able to fully lock down an entire team instantly. Also get a lot of complaints that I'm camping, always from the survivor that's crouching behind a tree five feet away every time someone gets hooked.

  • Unfortunately, the devs keep saying they want to remove bloodlust entirely, so tying a power to it seems pretty unlikely.

  • @CashelP14 said:

The locker trick is a very unique mind game that should stay in the game. The killer doesn't know if the actually have ds or inner strength. They also could have head-on so it is a very cool mind game.

Except there's no risk for the survivor, and nothing but risk for the killer. If the survivor knows they're going to get hit, they can just get in a locker after an unhook, and have nothing but, at worst, neutral outcomes. Meanwhile, the killer has to worry about everything you just listed, and has no real way to mitigate that risk.

  • @Blazelski said:

...It sounds like you're asking humans to not be humans... There's only so much the devs can do. Have you ever played an asymmetrical game before? People are always going to feel like they lost. This is just whining, not constructive.

There's quite a bit that the devs can do. They can look at other games in the genre. Identity V is another game they assisted with previously, and that doesn't make people feel like they lost, even though the game explicitly says that they didn't win during a 2k/2e match. I'm not a game designer, and I'm not going to pretend that I know how this all works better than the professionals, but I can say that it currently feels awful to experience an "ideal" match on both sides. This is something that the devs should be aware of. I'm certain they have ideas about how to improve this, as long as they're aware of the problem.

My point isn't being aimed at you directly, but as a general counter to the idea of nerfing DS this way

as to it being used while working on a gen, its still in the end a 1-off perk that will by you a few seconds if you decide to waste it that way

60 seconds isn't "a few seconds". It's 3/4 of a gen all by yourself, during which the killer has to choose whether to let you go without any downside, slap you and draw another survivor to that gen so you both finish it even faster, or take the stun for absolutely no benefit besides taking away your free escape card. And then if the killer takes the last option, survivors will generally start losing their minds over "tunneling" and do their best to make the rest of the match for the killer as miserable as possible.

And, of course, all of that is ignoring the situations where you can force the killer into a grab and force them to eat the stun, like locker slamming right next to an unfinished gen.

  • Proximity chat wouldn't work, because then people would just mute their mic in-game, and still use Discord. Just make it map-wide communication without limitations, and balance for that. Everything else is just playing a shell game. Otherwise, treat SWF like cheating and remove it. We all know the devs won't remove SWF, because they already got on the play-with-your-friends horse, and they can't get off once it gets going.

Will there be a way they can pair up those that are more experienced or will it be just random pair ups?

They say that they will be grouping players based on relative skill levels, but they also refuse to say how they will define a player's skill level, or what general outcome they'll consider "acceptable" during a match.

  • @Mr_K said:

  • The devs are removing ranks soon, meaning pips will soon be completely pointless.

  • Raise the speed bonus, or make it so she can still blink after landing a hit, or you'll see people tank the first hit just to make it so she turns into a powerless M1 killer.
