They should go down to two chapters a year and use the extra time to rebalance/rework weaker killers while improving maps and the games code (complete rewrite plz).
We also need more cosmetics for Feng.
Speaking of code, you should check out the bug reports section. There's a spicy flashlight/pallet save glitch that's very entertaining and with lots of videos !
And also a ton of other things that broke, it's the first time I see that many things break with one update.
-
It's a somewhat common glitch at the moment, here's a master thread on it :

Checking the bug reports forum yesterday gave me a good laugh !

I guess it depends on how they handle the buffs.
For my part I think after what they announced with the EMPs, which is much softer a nerf than I expected, the killer really needs QoL more than anything else.
But it does undeniably have potential to be very strong in very good hands.

Stack means the effect can be added together, or "Stacked" together.
so with the anniversary cakes, if each player (so 5 players) uses one that's the offerings of 107 Bp, that effect is 107 x 107 x 107 x107x 107 (or 107 x 5) so stacking means the bloodpoints effect is doubled with each new offering played in that game.
Yeah that's what I was thinking of. I do'nt think this is coming back unfortunately if they removed it last year !

Seems that way. I just want the stackable cakes to work properly. I still remember rushing home from work one year and the cakes did not stack. UHHH the disappointment. I look forward to the anniversary every year to see how many I can stockpile (while using them of course).
What do you mean not stack ?
I remember last year people complained that a glitch was fixed where you could get way more than 600% bp the first few days because the cakes multiplied with themselves to absurd proportions.

According to the anniversary stream (https://www.youtube.com/live/HSlaDMyYyEs?feature=share&t=5179) the event items are the invitations themselves instead of something found in the bloodweb. If you want the mask you'll have to save the invitation, but if you already have all the masks or don't care about them you can use the invitation as an item during chase.
Oh, I hadn't watched that xD
Sounds good !!

I've played for several years but I just was never able to participate in the anniversary events coincidentally
Well, if it's anything like last year it should be pretty fun ! Tons of bloodpoints offerings, games at +500% bloodpoint gain are always great, especially as killer. Especially since now you have automated bloodweb to spent the hundred of thousands of bloodpoints you get from games !
-
(Don't think you're new to the game but in case you skipped last year's anniversary) :
It looks like it'll work like last year : there are pillards with an "invitation" appearing in the map. When you pick it up, you either have to power the gates (as survivor) or play the game to the end (as killer) to get a cosmetic reward from the anniversary set : 6 masks for survivor and 6 masks for killer. The mask you get is random, but you'll eventually get all of them. There are multiple pillars in the map, everyone can get the cosmetic in any given game, provided they find an invitation and survive long enough.
It looks like killers are going to get an event addon that allows them to break pallets quicker (kind of like during halloween they get the blight serum), and it looks like survivors are getting an event item that allows them to block a window.
I don't know any more of how the 7th is going to go ! =)
-
You can't use your item if you carry an EMP on PC either, I think it's intended !
My own recommandation for Singularity :
When you switch cameras on multiple biopods, come back to your own body facing the direction of the last biopod you exited (or have killer instinct on the biopod for a couple seconds). It will make orienting yourself easier, and if you just saw a survivor somewhere, you will know in which direction they were. Instead of having to guess from which of the 3 corridors cams it was or having to recognize a conspicuous rock in the background to have a clue where you saw the survivors.
-
Oh, that's a beautiful one !!
-
I think it looks great, I love that it's in a crater, objectively it's amazing. I like those... one way dunes too ? It's funny, it reminds me of those Pokemon shortcuts.
But it's way too cluttered with bright colors, I can't pick out important things from foliage and walls. I haven't seen a lot of lockers too, now that I think about it, so I don't know how Dredge mains like it.
I think the best way to sum it up is that I would love to play on this map if the game was not DbD but a solo adventure/sci-fi game.

I think the 3-man-problem could be solved if solo survivors had the option to opt in on the swf-matches, although they would be at a disadvantage. Some solos might rather play with an swf than 3 solos, even though the killer would be stronger in those matches.
Killers would be assigned normally, maybe with loadout-options for solo and swf, and would either receive buffs, or survivors might receive penaltys to balance it up. Even things like gen times could be readjusted for swf, but the goal is the same kill/escape ratio for swf and solo queue. Thus, killers shouldn´t mind too much which queue they get.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3454777#Comment_3454777
yeah, i know, many killers like their easy matches vs solo, and many swf like their easy matches vs killers, and if those were balanced, the ones that are winning is those measly solo survivors noone is interested in.
I'd be open to try that in a PTB (though it would be a lot of effort just for a PTB) but I don't think it would really help.
Why : it's already been said several times by Peanits that the difference between solo and swf escape rate is, in the vast majority of players, within a few %. It only becomes a problem at to utmost top of mmr, where it is at most 15%.
Casual swf and casual solo are about the same escape-wise because any significant difference is taken care of via mmr, and making the game basekit harder for swf without taking into account the difference between low skill swf and high skill swf would be unfair to casual swf.
If something like what you offered happened, my bet is that the swf line would suffer from the same problems as live version : high mmr killers complaining and wishing to face solos, high mmr survivors doing okay, and low mmr survivors complaining (justifiably in that case) that the game is too hostile for casual survivors.
That said, that's only my foresight on it, and no one can really say what would happen.

Well they shouldn't be DLC on PC.
That, I wouldn't complain about haha !
-
I don't wish I were in their place, nor do I entertain the illusion that any of those things would be anything else but self-indulgent.
That being said...
Take a break from a content chapter to make balance changes
Bring back pre-buff, pre-nerf Thana
Give a couple more basekit frenzy seconds to Legion
More vegetation on the ground for Hag & Trapper
115% Hag
Zombie failsafe for Nemesis (Make them respawn somewhat close to survivors if the zombie is stuck and walking in place for 10s
Sky Billy is back
Base kit 40s Corrupt Intervention
Base kit 3s BBQ
Base kit 3s DS (deactivate endgame of course)
Ruin back at 200%
No synergy between toolbox and Hyperfocus
BNP reworked to create a safe state/prevent regression temporarily rather than add progression
Bite The Bullet makes you silent when you're being healed too (for coherence's sake)
Plague no longer exists (sorry y'all I hate vomit)

@sulaiman said:
seperate queues for swf and solo survivors, both balanced seperatly for the same kill ratio goal.
Genuine question, but how would you fit 3-mans in there ?
And how would killers be assigned games ?
-
@Seraphor said:
Obviously the rotation is to keep people playing. You need to stick around to make sure you don't miss the week your perk comes up.
That said, the perk library is so huge now, the four options just don't even scratch the surface and there's no reason to hope the perk you want will come up. It's like playing the lottery.
They could double the slots, and have four for survivor and four for killer.
They should eliminate any 'base game' perks, so anything from Claud/Meg/Dwight/Jake/Nea/Ace/Feng/Bill, and anything from Trapper/Wraith/Billy/Huntress/Nurse/Hag/Doctor.
They should probably bundle a few more original chapters in with the base game too, such as Clown/Kate and Spirit/Adam, which would exclude their perks too. Not sure this is likely, but they did include the Huntress/Nurse/Hag/Doctor chapters on console so I don't see why they can't.
That could bring it back into line with how useful the Shrine was when it came out, but it wouldn't be futureproofed so we'd end up with the same problem in about 2-3 years unless they continue to bundle in older original chapters for free.
Since a few of those "base game" characters you listed are DLC characters on PC, their perks would need to be a part of the Shrine (Hag/Ace & Doctor/Feng) ! X)
-
Aw, that's really nice !! =D
-
I mean... One makes you a slippery but one-hit 103% running from 110%/115% (sometimes with ranged downs or teleports)
And one makes you a 130% power walking machine trampling towards a 100%/103%
(I don't really care for the perk that much, but I don't think there's need to be this dramatic about it.)
-
I think I'll have to try this out. I've tried playing it as I would Hag at the moment (har har, no, not by 3genning from the start, common misconception) and it's been a humbling experience to say the least !
As it turns out, my sense of direction is absolutely nonexistent and I get lost between all the biopods. Even if I infect someone, I generally don't know where they are. (KI on survivors you just infected when ? XD)
I'll give chase biopods a try !

You don't need time to evaluate killer strength in DbD, because with PTB and how simple this game is, there was pretty much no time day one killer strength has changed.
People throw same "this is day one" argument all the time yet literally none has been changed, people really aren't as dumb as those forum guy thinks.
I'm a bit more optimistic because one of the killers I main, Hag, is one that I think if she was released as she is now, today, people would riot day 1 that she's inconsistent, has too many counters, is map-dependant and that she's not worth the grind.
However, some people who are really, really good with her can be extremely oppressive without needing to 3gen, and apparently according to BHVR that's a good space to be in as killer, despite her pitiful pickrate.
I just don't think all killers are supposed to be extremely strong or easy to pick up, and seeing a new killer that actually requires skill to use is not a bad thing in my opinion.
Having played Singularity a bit more since then, I do think that EMPs are a little busted and could take more time to print/block for less time, but they're still a very necessary counter. Singularity's real good at late game gen pressure, and can be really strong in chase with Overclock.
What bothers me the most is still the QoL of biopods switching. People would have less time to get EMPs and I'd get more hooks in if I didn't have to guess where the biopod I infected people from is.
It does need a little more attention in the next hotfix, but all in all, I think it's mostly fine, and I'm afraid rushed buffs will make it overpowered.
It's okay if we have different opinions.
-
I don't mind it (then again, I admit I don't play item based killers besides some Nemesis). I think it's fairer to casual survivors that they don't have part of their objective dropped in the middle of nowhere on the map, with no way of finding it again unless they have a really good sense of direction. Especially when it comes to Wesker since full infection is extremely punishing.
That being said, you can carry 2 items but only use the killer related one until you use it or put it down. I tried it yesterday and almost EMP'd my gen trying to use my toolbox.
So if you're chasing someone with a vaccine you know there won't be blinds or mid-chase heals, which is a small comfort I guess.
-
I've only played a few custom games with him, and though EMPs are a little strong at the moment, the killer feels good to play with. I think once it gets the adjustments it needs it will be really fun to play as.

You don't like horror or do you mean horror licenses just for this game?
I'm not a huge horror fan, but I do enjoy watching horror movies, and I like watching playthroughs of horror games.
I just don't find big horror licenses super interesting in general ? Usually the first installment might be a cool concept but I quickly lose interest when there's lots of follow-ups to it, and the plot goes increasingly overboard to try and tie everything together while also making it more and more sensational.
It's just my perception of it though, I understand that people can have different sensibilities, especially if nostalgia plays a part for some long-standing franchises. It's just not for me =)
-
Wow, I never realized they were this rare. I felt like I got about 5-6 of them a Prestige on my main Haddie, because I do use them somewhat frequently when I have some (and currently have 2), but checking the characters I prestiged for perks, I only have a couple of BPS on them at most. Either Haddie is a lucky lady or or I misremembered !
Unfortunately the way it works currently with each new map the odds of getting BPS lower.
-
I don't particularly like horror licenses, most of them seem pretty underwhelming or overrated to me. I generally like the original killers more.
-
Not really... I don't think real people should come to the game. I wish they stuck to fiction, this feels off to me, like a weird marketing thing.

Not gonna happen.
They could easily go to 3 new Chapters per year and nobody would even complain. (Granted, if they make double fail like Knight followed by Skull Merchant it would be even longer to wait for a decent chapter, but that would be the only real negative)
And IMO this is needed. Because especially the Winter Chapter is usually one of the worst and most-bugged Chapters they release.
I guess I can only dream !
-
Now, to take advantage of that and slow down a little bit in their releases and taking the time to fix what needs fixing instead of pumping out chapters one after the other...
We already have so many survivors and killers, and a ton of perks no one uses. They should take a few months to focus on QoL, balance and reworks.
-
How could it be nerfed ?
I think it would sooner get a rework with a different effect then a nerf. Less than 1% increase for each tier or further conditions would make the perk Dark Theory-bad.
It was bold of them to try, that's for sure.
-
The anniversary literally hasn't even begun yet ? By the time it truly begins the people who want to put in the effort will have a better handle on Singularity. Their mmr on the killer will also have adapted a bit and made their games more bearable.
I think it's great that BHVR is making some bolder concepts that require a good amount of experience to be used well. (Though in this case, some QoL to make the POV less disorienting would be welcome !)
No need to get all pessimistic within 24h of it coming to live. =)
-
People really will look at a killer marked "hard to master" and complain within less than 24h of it coming to live servers that they can't use its power consistently well.
Snarking aside, Singularity doesn't need nerfs or buffs, just time to learn to play and play against it, and some QoL to make it a bit less disorienting.
For example I'd love for the camera to lock onto the direction of the last pod you surveiled from when coming back to your own body, instead of the first one. That would already help not have to search where those survivors you just saw were when you don't know the map perfectly well.

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/378542/flashlight-nerf-backfired-in-a-fun-way
It wasn't really a nerf, given how much easier they made it to get a flashlight blind to compensate.
@AbsolutGrndZer0 said:
The change wasn't ever meant to be a nerf, it was purely an epilepsy issue. Those who used those flashlight macros could send some players into seizures. While there is always some risk with every video game, developers of games still want players with epilepsy to be able to play their games, so they fix things like that.
@Brimp said:
Not really a nerf anymore when they buffed the buffer timer to .4 seconds to make anybody able to hit one.
Whether it was meant to be a nerf or not, or that it was compensated or not, functionally, that part was a nerf, so that's what I'm calling it ? I'm not saying it's a bad thing (I'm even mentioning that it's for accessibility and not for the fun of it) or that flashlights came out of that update ruined. I'm just calling a cat a cat for simplicity.
-
For me, giving hatch is a sign of good faith and a way to convey "I had fun, thank you for playing with me" even if my opponents are on console and don't get endgame chat.
It's a very positive interaction that also generally leads to nice endgame chat.
I also give hatch to prevent my mmr from growing too quickly, so that I can stay in a bracket where I can have silly builds and pleasant opponents.
I've also had a survivor give me hatch when I was killer and their team got 3e, and it was the cutest thing ! <3

If you want to hang on to that 2.2 mil for the event you'll have to wait a week unfortunately.

I have a lot of essays to turn in for my studies at the moment, so I don't have time to play. I've been holding on to bloodpoints for the past couple of weeks ! I'll be able to get back to playing probably a few days into the event. =)

Ready for Chapter! (+ daily logins, + tome challenges) + Rank reset on the same day lol.
Btw don't ask me why the cap is at 2 050 000 and not at 2 000 000 I don't know haha...
Additionally, daily rewards and rewards from codes ignore the cap when they get added to your bloodpoint bank. =)
-
I do it sometimes when I see a phenomenal looper in a lobby I'm facing. It's not about winning the game anymore, it's looking at how they use loops and how they chain them. I'm a very poor looper myself as survivor, so when I encounter a great one as killer I can't help but be mesmerized and try and understand how they play first-hand.
-
Fine in theory, but in practice I think people would use those to BM and I don't think some parts of the community need more ammunition in that regard.
Dances of all kinds would be used to as an insult or taunt at the gate/camping. Any idea I've seen from killer players of killer emotes would maybe make it more immersive for them, but I don't think one person's gratification is worth making other people feel humiliated. And survivor emotes would not find a lot of use, considering pointing, come here and crouching already do the job well in terms of communication.
-
The secret 4rth option : Neither
Except for DS, who should get back to 5 second stun to actually do its job of making tunneling difficult.
-
For killer, I'm on break from Hag, so it's just my trusty Legion at the moment ! Prestige 6 I believe.
And Haddie as survivor, also Prestige 6.
I've been using my bloodpoints to prestige characters for perks and give addons to killers I wanted to try out like Nemesis, Spirit and Billy, so my mains are not very high. I don't really want to push them to 100 either since people would inevitably comment on how low skill I am for a high prestige. ^^'

Maybe I'm just lucky but I've had much more positive interactions than negative ones, and by a very large margin. It's kind of a shame the community has a bad rep when most players are nice.
We should absolutely share the wholesome moments more instead of just focusing on the bad ones ^^
This !! I've had way more positive endgame chats or interactions in game than people being agressive or mean.
-
Favorite : Haddie ! She looks badass and she has a very cool lore.
Least favorite : Gotta be between Nancy, and Ash.
I don't have any opinion on the new survivors from Skull Merchant's chapter, they really don't appeal to me. Gabriel looks fine though !
-
I take the L and move on to another game, and mmr does its thing. My next games are not as difficult.
-
I have no idea, especially since I wasn't around for old Freddy.
That being said, I've faced some really good Freddys and I'm curious how they'll improve him.
-
Hopefully the finisher mori doesn't make a return either.
I very much like Devour and Rancor having their moris, and the way it was implemented prevented giving hatch, slug races, all kinds of fun that are arguably some of the best things the game has in term of player interaction.
Just make yellow mori basekit, give survivors an instant bleedout key once they've been slugged for more than 30s, and call it a day.
-
I wouldn't say I hate her, because I've frankly not played enough against her to really build experience against her.
That said, she's surprisingly very stealthy and sometimes seems to come out of literally nowhere without warning even though the drone zones she crossed were not active, which doesn't feel very fair.
It just feels difficult for casual players to face her, in my experience. I don't think I've escaped against her yet.
(Also, her walking loop is very ugly. It looks like she's sliding on the ground more than walking, it's very uncanny)
