You can counterplay a Blight, sure, but counterplay can only take you so far.
Do you honestly think everyone who has a problem with Blight just doesn't know how to play the game, and that's the only reason anyone could possibly have an issue with him?
Because I can tell you right now, I have no such delusions about Knight.
I derive my opinion on this based on the thousands of hours I have on blight. I have gone against survivors who truly know counterplay, and they are able to reallyyy give me a run for my money.
But they are RARE. It’s absolutely astounding the amount of people who still just try to hold W, or just sit in a pallet while I set up for a hug tech. This is why I’m talking about learning counterplay, because the vast majority of players DON’T know it. This mentally of “I’m just gonna quit until they nerf it” is not going to do any good.
What happens when addons get changed and you still get spit on by blight because you never considered the fact that it’s not only addons, but your lack of game knowledge on blight. Same thing applies to the hug tech (although I consider it basekit at this point.

That question suffers from the false premise that there's anything substantial TO learn about countering Blight. The Blight's been in the game for over three years now; if beating him was just a matter of finding the right counterplay, people would have found it a long time ago.
There's only so long you can insist that everyone who has a problem with a character just hasn't learned how to play against him before people notice that the counterplay you've been promising people will discover any day now doesn't seem to be happening.
So you’re telling me there’s zero counterplay?

"Learn some skills and counterplay against him"? Just because it's phrased a little differently doesn't mean you weren't making a "skill issue" argument. Arguing in bad faith doesn't help your case.
What I said is valid. How can you expect to learn to counter a killer if you give up against them every single time?
Is that what we want to do in this game? Anytime there’s a concept, killer, gameplay, that we don’t know how to play as / against, we just give up and complain until it’s nerfed?
Do you understand what a bad faith argument is?… I’m definitely not arguing in bad faith.

Anyone who runs to the "skill issue" defense is being intellectually lazy. Also, the Blight avatar just makes this even funnier.
Where did I say “skill issue”? Not sure how you come to that conclusion because I’m suggesting to try and improve gameplay instead of just quitting and complaining.
Also, there’s really nothing funny. Some of you have a weird obsession about avatars and names, as if they determine credibility or correctness. Strange behavior.

Yes, i would, same way goes to removing that "tech" and nerfing his addons.
I play Knight myself and i know how obnoxious it feels to have your power not work like it should, but matter of fact is, Blight's pros are way more overbearing than his cons currently.
We have common ground on the addons. But I don’t agree with the hug tech. What happens if the devs come out and say it’s considered basekit now?

instead why don't the hugtech exploit/bug get fixed and all the things that shouldn't be about him as well? also nerfing the add-ons would be a good idea too. (yes I remember you)
Instead why don’t you accept that the hug tech is probably not going anywhere.
How about we fix all of his performance hindering collision issues? Or all of his performance hindering bugs? Would you advocate for that?

You're kinda boring but I'll reply one last time. Even huntress can outplay Mft by, you know, using her power. Or by, you know, double back. If you're running straight then yeah, I understand why you have these issues...
But hey, you got what you wanted with dead hard, why not Mft. What's next? Windows? Lithe? Lol
I want to see some of your gameplay doing exactly what you’re preaching. Do you even play killer?

Grade reset is in a couple of days, and it can be really, really unfun to raise grades in high MMR. Can't really blame this people, as all it takes to invalidate all your effort is three bad matches in a row. De-pipping is the biggest culprit that leads to sweaty games at the momen, even though its just 1million BP on the lane. Thats so wild to think about.
I don’t blame them one bit lol. Once I get into high gold and all through iri, I just run alch ring blight and full slow down so I can try and guarantee a double pip. Once I hit iri 1, then I go back to normal.

I'm glad your feelings were ruffled to the point where you felt the need to come up with this kind of comeback, very flattering! I'm sorry these 3% are giving you so much trouble in your trials.
I’m far from “ruffled” lol. You’re a stranger on a video game forum.
I never said MFT was giving ME issues. I don’t want it nerfed. But I’m not going to ignore how strong it is when used by experienced survivors.

How ironic of you to come here and tell me all that with that username and profile pic. Opinion dismissed, obviously. Maybe try to reach a higher MMR and come back to me with your experience. And yes, the lowest killer speed is 110%.
lmao alright buddy. 😂
You reek of low hours… you probably use self care, no botany, don’t you?…
-
The issue is the speed boost she gets AND the hindrance on survivor.
Idc what anybody says. She’s an absolute miserable killer and should be nuked into oblivion.
-
@myersgoestochurch said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3582894#Comment_3582894
Very simple: killers are faster than survivors by default. Usually 10% faster. Add this perk, 15%. Add bloodlust tier 1, 18%. Add one of those random built-in speed boost mechanics to the mix and you get +20% speed boost, how's that for skills? Survivors don't get more than 103%, I'll let you do the calculations.
Numbers don't lie
You’ve been playing for 4 years but think the default killer is 10% faster? Riiighhttt. Seems legit…
@myersgoestochurch said:
Which is great, because they aren't faster. A killer with an insta down mechanic or perk doesn't give a damn about Mft by the way.
Again, those 3% still won't make any survivor faster than a killer, 100% of the time. Sprint burst gives you a 150% speed boost and has been in the game since the beginning.
The bigger deal is a bunch of killer mains crying about a 3% speed boost and refusing to adapt whilst receiving multiple speed boost themselves. The bigger deal is Bhvr exploiting its own players with apparently useful perks, just to nerf them when enough time has passed and money was out in the bank. I thought I was clear with my opinion, apparently not?
You’re trying to compare very situational, very temporary speed boosts, to a completely permanent speed boost for being injured.
3% is MASSIVE for good survivors. With MFT I’m able to turn GOJ into an infinite. I can turn Haddonfield houses into infinites, etc.
-
I get actively avoided more often than not.
-
I absolutely love it, only because it’s a lot of fun to use. It can be annoying to play against though.
-
Yep, dropping MMR to get out of sweat land.

Interesting idea.
I would hazard against the concept of fair play in this case though.
Because essentially if you are playing within the game's rules, then you are playing fairly.
The concept of "fair play" as defined by a large portion of this community is actually "sub-optimal play".
In order to be "fair", as defined by the DBD community, then your opponent often has to meet a rigid set of additional arbitrary rules that often run counter to their in-game objective.
The concept of fairness here has warped into the idea that opponents have to make bad decisions that benefit others in order to be fair, which is actually a highly unfair attitude to have. (Oh the irony!)
How is the concept of "You need to attenuate your behaviour beyond the game rules in order to accommodate my game preferences" in any way fair thinking?
Its very amusing to watch people bang on about what's "fair", while in the same sentence demanding their opponent's play to a disadvantage in the name of fairness.
That’s why I put fair and nice in parentheses. I know by game rules anything within those defined rules is fair play. I agree with you.
However… There are play styles that are FAR less fun to encounter, regardless of being legally fair or not in regards to actual game rules. I do not like encountering these playstyles, and neither does 99% of the player base.
But for the sake of this post, I’m using “fair” in regards to the generally agreed upon idea of fair and nice play in this game.

I've noticed that I run into a lot of teabaggers whenever I play demo, and only demo. Whenever I play another killer it's just normal games, but the second I switch to demo I get paired up with a team who will teabag as if their life is depending on it.
Interesting. I’m going to experiment with that today and see if I get the same results with using some other weaker killers using the same variables.
I only used demo because I’ve missed playing him so I’ve been on a binge. xD
@xEa said:
I never understood why survivor bm by flashligh clicky and tbaging like a bunch of little kids, especially those type of killer players who are wild enough to play weaker killer in a non tunneling and fair way.
Those killer are not that strong in a chase and me as a survivor absolutly LOVE when they take a serious chase against me. BMing is the last thing i would ever considere doing to them.
They give survivors a decent chase time, so why would they tbag at the exit gate or during chase? And then even trashtalk. What the heck? Do they really like to get smacked by Nurse every single game? Apperently so.
EDIT: Said that, i can unfortunatly confirm this. This wont make me play any different of course, but it is true that they are more bm towards weaker killer. I almost never see them BMing me when i play Nurse and swipe the floor with them at 5 gens. Its usually pretty quiet in the afterchat.
Just to be non-biased, it does happen to survivors too. I’ll get bm’d by killers despite never teabagging or clicking at them. I chalk it up to them not liking that I looped them. Lol

The issue is then the counterplay on Survivor end is met with a better option for Blight on the Killer end. So we roll back around to "hoping he's not good" all over again. The other issue of course being the soloq teammates dropping like flies. Just because either of us may be able to lead a Blight on a longer than average chase, doesn't mean there aren't 3 other clowns err soloq teammates for the Blight to swap aggro towards for a free win.
The second part is more a personal thing. Some people like having their skills continually improve, and some people are looking to have fun by goofing off with friends. If the person's goal never was 'become a better with the goal of being a perfectly skilled Survivor', then sadly this advice is useless. Personally I recommend 'tryhards' to play CS/SC, Counter Strike or StarCraft. Alternatively Dota for CS, and maybe Street Fighter for StarCraft. Those games actually reward skill expression, and wouldn't waste the players time in playing them for that purpose.

Youtube tutorials help for these FAQ styled annoyances. I too got annoyed of having to explain macro to people all too unwilling to listen, but the (honest) options are either I can re-explain to the newer people who never saw my original posts, make a video and link it each time someone asks, or stay out of those discussions. I still am at the 're-explain' stage, but my patience too is wearing thin so I might have to jump into the video tutorial or avoid discussion camps instead.
Yea I’m getting to the discussion avoidance spot. Many of the people who make these blight threads will NOT hear you out. Matter fact, most, if not all will refuse to hear an opposition. It’s just a waste of time at that point.
-
Bro admits to using an unlock tool and asks to get unbanned. Lmao
-
Yea.. it’s probably one of the hardest games to pick up as a new player at this point of the game.
I’m glad I started playing at release to this point. I don’t think I’d like DBD if I started playing now for the first time.
-
Nah cause same. The teams I’ve been getting have been some efficient mfs. xD
I’ve had to throw a couple slow down perks back on.
-
Umm yes. It does. It would literally be a free escape if it didn’t. Just like all second chance perks deactivate in the end game.
It’s almost like you want your hand held to the exit.

I'm sorry, but what do you want then?
As the survivors get better the killers dont?
Good survivors already roll the vast majority of the killer roster. Do you want it to be the whole thing?
Yes Blight gets better as skill increases, so the other side should have to also play better to compete. He gets stronger as survivors get stronger. Outside of add-ons he does not reach a level where skilled survivors can't resonably win.
This just sounds like its circling back to "Why cant mid survivors beat a good blight". Which they shouldn't, since he's playing better.
Do you just want them deleted?
Dude I wouldn’t even continue the conversation. You have made excellent points and counter arguments that they continue to ignore and flip. Some people aren’t worth debating with on here.
They will refuse to listen to anything that doesn’t agree with their opinion.

My brother in Christ how in the world did you p100 in 1 two months, did you no life that #########?
Yes I did lmao. 2-3 prestiges a day.
My job allows me a TON of time off.
I p100’d Nea even faster during the anniversary event. Went from like p15 to p100 during the time of the event with a couple days to spare. This was of course due to 5 terrormisu’s every match. I was hitting probably 4-6 prestiges a day.
-
I decided to p100 blight first because I was one of the few people who decided to main him at release despite the common opinion that he was terrible. It just made sense.
I’ve got more hours on blight than a lot of people have on DBD total. It took me about 1.5-2 months to p100 him…all of it done before the auto bloodweb :’)
I learned of new trick spots and blight parkour spots. I did a winstreak throughout the process of getting p100. Nothing has really changed, besides caring even less about winning. I just enjoy going for the spiciest lethal rushes possible, and I play rush only blight 95% of the time.
-
How many times is this going to be brought up? It’s NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN.
SWFs would be waiting for matches forever.
Also for the millionth time. SWF does not equate to a good team of survivors.

Does it matter what killer? Regardless of that, if a skin makes you stronger than default outfit - it IS pay to win.
What sense would it make would this giant teddy bear to have a “heaving breathing through a mask” sound? Or a leathery sound when vaulting?

These things being “pay to win” is quite a stretch… it’s trapper my guy…

Dude, the issue is you’re providing NO argument to your thread. You have zero ground to stand on. WHY should you be compensated or reimbursed?? Do you not have the characters you spent money on? What’s the issue?
Oh and also… this is the forums… where us “random nobodys” are free to converse and comment on whatever thread we want. If you don’t want that, then send a message directly to BHVR through a private ticket. Otherwise, get over it. You don’t get to post something like this and not receive community feedback….. on the community forums…. What did you expect?
-
1) You cannot nerf people for playing with friends. Terrible idea.
2) SWF does NOT equate to super sweaty god tier team of survivors. MAJORITY of SWF’s are no better than a solo q team. I’d argue many times they DIE more due to being over-altruistic.
3) I promise you, not every team of survivors that stomp you are SWF. Solo teams can be super effective. I have stomped killers with a team of 4 solo survivors and the killer refused to believe we weren’t SWF… copium.

Blight routinely gets slapped by comp-level survivors as well. What is your point? If you wanna bring comp into this, then by comp standards, survivors should be nerfed into the ground.
Let’s not use comp to argue balance for the masses. It makes no sense.

If you know the counterplay is there, then by all means, please share it.
I have. MULTIPLE times in MULTIPLE threads. I have typed out long explanations in great detail. These gamers don’t want to hear it.

fair and balanced gameplay😱
not saying you should give up , but i have 0 respect for those type of blights , so i will play the most boring way against them.
dear god i miss when blight players used to go for insanely precise pinball angles to get their hits , but this days is just HUG TECH , BROKEN ADDON COMBINATIONS AND HARD TUNNELING WITH THOSE.
You miss when blight’s went for “insane precise angles to get hits”.. this is bump logic, and bump logic is objectively stronger than hug teching. Not sure what your point it there.

To even remotely stand a chance in solo q against a blight, all 4 survivors have to be able to execute said “counterplay” (which there basically is none other than hoping the blight isn’t that good). If the blight is half way decent, you will get slaughtered 98% of the time. I don’t blame them for giving up.
I promise you there is more than “hoping he’s not good.” Learn the counterplay. It’s there.
Less time spent giving up because you don’t like a killer that you can’t loop like a regular m1 killer… is more time spent becoming a more skilled survivor.
-
Instead of just giving up, how about trying to learn something from your matches against blight?
Learn some skills and counterplay against him.
