Maybe you 2 are from english speaking countries.

Here in Europe a lot of people have thick and specific accent. There are still a lot of people that can't speak english very well. A lot of people have way too much background noise (e.g. the game itself, because they don't own headset) and a lot of people playing this game actually are not old enough to play it - and you don't wish to listen to e.g. racist and sexist slurs and wishes for your premature funerals from 12 year old squeaky voice.

I would much rather have proper ping system.

Im from U.K. so i often end up playing on euro servers. And I find a lot of europeans speak enough english for me to be able to make sense of them. Made friends with a fair few too. Toxicity is common because it's the internet. But mute buttons are there for a reason. And not everyone on VC is toxic, far from it.

While VC would be interesting in DBD this game would be dreadful to have vc in. The amount of toxicity that'll get blown out would be terrible it's already bad in endgame chat during the game though I think I'd keep it off.

Every game with VC has that issue. But a lot of people would also use it to help team mates. And mute buttons are easy to use if someone is toxic.

  • Wow that streamer is a massive tool lol. Surprises me that people watch that content, like 80% of it is just him BMing slugged survs and talking trash 🤣 boring watching.

  • Still think the best thing to help solo q is VC. All the perks in the world aren't going to stop a potato from yolo unhooking under the killers nose or blindly setting up the killer for a 3 gen. With VC an experienced player can be like "don't do that, because this will happen" then eventually the potato grows and blooms into a competent player.

It's certainly better than the experienced player DC ing or suiciding on hook because their team mates are new players who don't know basic tactics. Give us a way to educate new players and solo q will become more bearable.

  • Idk, most people ssy that either no one at all would use it or that people would be constantly toxic. But never utilise it properly apparently. Which is nonsense. Obvs those issues would be there but not to the point it would be more detrimental to the game than beneficial.

  • I love how i knew the content of the post before i saw it. Just from the title lol

VC would be a good thing... Daja Vu is a perk let's leave it that way

I'd certainly prefer VC over basekit perks for sure.

  • It's all about the money. "Hey you can get this, but ooooonly this week, better buy it before it disappeara so you can say you got it." I noticed in the player survey I did for dbd the other week it asked me what events I liked the idea of limited time cosmetics on. Notably it didn't ask me if I liked the concept of limited time cosmetics or not lol.

You already have 61% killrate. People on this forum claim, that this does not apply to high MMR where survivors win more often. That means that to have 61% avarage killrate and high MMR struggling, you need to have way more then 61% kr in low MMR.

What this means - if you are new killer, you win almost always. As a first time survivor, you will play your first 10 games and chances are, you will loose them all. Would you be willing to play a new game that you have just installed after outright loosing 10 times in a row? When each game takes 10+ minutes? And you saw no way how to turn it for the better? I presume not. For this specific reason - low mmr needs to be balanced too and new players needs to get good experience too. Otherwise it's just a matter of time until the game dies. And no - if you provide noob stuff "basekit" (I did not specify what kind of help should they get), then that does not mean best SWF will benefit. How does any skilled player benefit ever from corrective action? How will they benefit from technician? Contrary to this one - when will hyperfocus or DH or flashlight (disregard some killer-specific-ability interaction for argument's sake) do anything for low MMR? On the other hand I don't know of single thing that unskilled killer can't use/do. So no. Low MMR killer will not have a bad time if we help beginner-level survivors.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/349631/a-way-to-help-solo-queue

I don't like what you propose. These things provide information to survivors, that are actually helpful to everyone every time. For example - one of the things that are kind-of time consuming on some maps is finding a generator (think lery's or the game or even midwitch sometimes). So even if skilled survivors do not really need to know which gens are 3-gen (because they will figure it out during the match), it will still help them shave-off some time from finding a generator at the start of the match (and we already know how much killers hate proof for taking away at most 7s on a single gen for 2 people). I think that all that needs to be done to help survivors not 3gen themselves is to permanently show aura of completed generator - this way they can always look at the map and know which spot has many fixed gens and which spot does not (and this does 0 in high MMR, because SWF will communicate this stuff excplicitly and solos are good enough to remmeber each location where generator already poped - because this information is already shown briefly).

Left behind on the other hand promotes hatch play. As of right now the most boring part of the game is when you get to the stage of last 2 survivors and killer all being stubborn when there are 2+ gens to complete. Survivors will start to hide instead of doing objectives making it extremely boring/long until killer is able to find one of them. When killer finally finds a survivor and downs them, if he decides to deny hatch - killer can camp the body and pick it up (downing immediately after wiggle) and look for a last survivor. This can go on for sooo long. For this reason alone - I don't want to make hatch play any more appealing that it already is.

Fair points. Left behind is a funny one, makes sense people would throw the game trying to abuse it. I disagree with the whole finding gens thing, you are right it would slow the survs down, but why not show survs where 3 gens are for like 30 secs? When killer can see all gens, all the time.

However a lot of things that should have been made base kit or solutions to many problems were made into perks like kindred for instance. I'd still rather they made kindred base kit then then unbreakable.

Yh kindred should absolutely be basekit. And you're right it's much better idea than unbreakable basekit. It would help people realise when killer is hook camping a surv so they can plan a better unhook. Instead of the yolo unhooks I see randoms doing all the time atm.

I mean ive had bad match days as well but never have i died 15 times in a row..so im calling poop on that :)

Again i dont believe buffing low skilled and low hour players will make this game any better. If anything it will make it worse since the high skilled and swf players will get the buffs as well. Best thing those survivors can do for themselfs is to learn the game. Watch youtube videos..watch streamers, dont rely on getting basekit perks and buffs all the time.

Good survivors will still escape just fine and you are not supposed to win every game

Literally happened to me the other week, I'm newish to the game. Been playing about 2 months with 8-9 days actualy playtime but I'm by no means incompetent. Like you suggest I've read through the wiki, watched youtube vids and picked up tips from my swf friends.

I had a session of 15 games in a row where i couldn't survive for love nor money, 13 of them were 4ks. One was just unlucky, we got gens done and i got caught out by NOED while looping the killer and the other 3 survs dipped. Made a post about it if you check my post history. I didn't play well in all of the games for sure, but some of them i made some damn good plays. Looped a wesker for god knows how long but no gens got done.

I'm not saying people should escape every game, far from it. I think a 40-50% escape rate is perfectly fine. But solo q is an absolute ######### fest for survivors. There is zero communication, I'm either matched with potatoes who know nothing about the game. Or when i have been matched with higher level/prestige players I've noticed they tend to rage quit and suicide on hook a lot.

Adding some features to solo q survs specifically isn't going to magically turn them into seal team 6 bully squads who survive 70% of their games. I explicitly want these basekits for solo q survs only. Swfs don't need any help and shouldn't get them.

  • @Hannacia said:

I'm not sure why behaviour should make the game easier for new and low skilled players. They need to put more gametime in and learn the game instead of getting help from basekit perks and whatever else.

Give too much to the survivors this game becomes unbearable to killers. Its not that easy for killers when survivors know more than selfcaring in the corner.

Besides i personally think its time to give killers a basekit perk at this point. Survivors are going to be running with 6 perks soon ( 2 being basekits)

SoloQ issue isnt perks or killers or maps or whatever else, its the survivors themselfs. If you have 1-2 survivors that are hiding and not helping out the team, sure you will lose and you will lose hard. Self care is almost in every match, Its a killer perk..stop using it.

I'm not saying make it easy so they escape every time or anything. But they do need a helping hand. Solo q is pretty unbearable, dying 15 games in a row is not a fun experience. Experiences like that will hurt player retention.

Yeah, I'd have any voice chat options instantly turned off just because of it being highly uncomfortable. Idk what kind of teammates I'll get, and from my experiences playing LoL, it sure won't be pretty 99% of the time.

Something that would be great would be to make some QoL changes to the emotes. Pointing "works" if you wanna try to tell someone to stay on a gen or go save. But then we have the "come here" gesture and I always get people running away from me after unhooking them; can't lead them to a safe spot to heal and reset if they turn their camera and can't see it. If not new emotes, we need some sort of text wheel with generic phrases to communicate with people. It's simple enough to be more in-line with swf while still being weaker.

I've also suggested some sort of ping system, would definitely help with communication too. I had to chase a Kate denson across the map yesterday to heal her wasted so much time

  • @Nessyhere said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3219356#Comment_3219356

Voice chat wouldn't work because people either wouldn't use it because no mic or all the toxicity. Not to mention it'd nerf stealth killers.

    That's a pretty sweeping

generalisation. Toxicity would be an issue (as with literally every other game with VC, but they don't remove it) that's what the mute/report buttons are for, and correct some people would not use mics. But it wouldn't be all one or the other. There are a good amount of players who would utilise it properly. Even players who don't plug in could hear voice chat and get useful info from it. So don't give me that, arguments against VC are so weak. Most multiplayer games have it for a reason, that on the whole it improves player experience.

And I'm sure stealth killers could deal with it, they have to play against swfs anyway so solo q would still perform worse than them. Or didn't you say nobody would use VC to communicate? In which case it wouldnt affect stealth killers in the slightest, lol.

You want the opposing team to take it easy when one of your players is in the sin bin, we may need to ask Patrick about that one.

A player going in the sin bin for fouling is a little different to a player throwing a tantrumn and walking off the pitch for a trivial reason.

  • @RaSavage42 said:

Come up with new ideas... instead of relying on what's already there

Recycling basekit for perks also will kill that perk... BT (does anyone run it) Unbreakable (maybe... it might be one of the ones that come in every so often

If making any changes due to "low skill" is just a bad move... "middle skill" is a much better way to balance

"low skill" players need more time in the game to get used to the game

Balancing around the "low skill" is a bad decision... again what "low skill" players need to experience what the game is but can't due to them being targeted

See this is why I've suggested VC. Would ease the learning curve because they could get advice from more experienced players in games. And deja vu helps new players but most mid level/ high level players are familiar with gen spawns and wouldn't hugely benefit from it.

Nah because hatch race can fail even if you can see it. Sometimes it spawns right near killer. Happened to me many times.

Sole Survivor + Wake up = 75% exit gate speed. With this build, you let the killer go find hatch, and you go for exit gate.

Fair point. I prefer hatch escapes personally but killer can sometimes get lucky on hatch. Just feel 2 perks just for the escape is a lot. When 1 still has a good chance.

Clairvoyance is better - u see the hatch everytime, not just in a little radius.

I did try that once and it's amazing. But i struggle to find totems so don't often run it.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Personally, I really don't like the idea of the devs just slapping on baskit perks to try and balance things out. I really want to see them steer away from this.

What else can they do? Solo q is pretty ######### for new/low skill players. We evidently aren't going to get in game VC if they haven't added it in 6 years. And any changes to normal game balance would affect swf games. Which are fine. A basekit addition or two exclusively for solo q survs would help balance in those games.

I think he was saying the wandering around randomly ignoring everybody of the last two matches was weird.

    Correct

  • @Audiophile said:

This is mostly a result of survivor fatigue with an oppressive game balance and being fed up with seeing the same crap over and over.

Tunnelled again, Wesker again, Anti-gen Legion again, Franklins/Hoarder Pinhead again, Ridiculous Blight hits again, Huntress aiming at hook again, 2 minute run and no gens done again, running into a closet instead of vaulting again, hit by silent zombie around a corner again, Camping bubba again… the list is almost endless.

I think many survivors have hit a limit and they’re not willing to suffer more BS… they just check out. The game has become so unfun for the most part that these are mostly survivors who are playing because they still love the game but they can’t take the excessive BS, so they limit the suffering by checking out when they hit the limit rather than quit the game altogether.

e.g lets say in the past i loved the game when it was 90% fun and 10% BS. Let’s say my theoretical limit to make me quit playing a game altogether is 40% BS. The game is currently at 50% BS. So I’m almost always near my limit for what I’ll tolerate while I’m playing… I take as much fun as I can from a given match and then when it crosses a threshold, I leave. I think that’s going on….

Idk a lot of ragequitters are just toxic. Had 2 randoms ragequit out of games with my 3 person swf in the same day. Both were on xbox and i asked them why they quit. Both messaged tirades about how we are noobs etc. First game we died with 2 gens left after the rando suicided on hook at 1 gen literally a second before i got to them gor the unhook. They probably would've tipped the balance since we managed to do 2 gens without them. The other we ended up escaping even down one person.

As a killer i see a lot of players DC on first hook/down. Which isn't anything about tunneling because it hadn't had a chance to happen.

  • I feel like left behind should be included in any solo q survival build.

  • As killer? I won't farm too hard, but I'll at least let people stuggle out then walk away so they get unhooks. Plus i usually let last survivor go.

As survivor I've had a few games where killer as AFKd, refused to engage or just been super bad. I'll usually just take the survival, or grind whatever challenge I'm on.

  • Demo, it's hidden portals injure survivors the first time they are stepped on and then are opened and revealed as if demo travelled through them. Could be the weird bat swarm things in season 4.

  • @Regulus47 said:

Have you been living under a rock? Killers have been hard tunneling off hook and camping non stop ever since 6.1.0. came out. There's a reason the BP bonus is always on surv lol.

I do actually play the game. I see killers tunnel but this was extreme, like hung around the hook and hard zoned in on me straight off the hook. Didn't help one of my rando teammates seemed determined to unhook both times regardless of the killer being on top of us.

  • It's why clown has sad facepaint. He misses his horsey 🥺

  • I enjoy it, both as killer and surv. The centre building particularly is a lot of fun for chases. Also makes a nice change from all the dark dreary maps while still retaining a creepy atmosphere. Abandoned, isolated and dilapidated.

  • People can do individually good plays but still lose decisively. Plus it comes across as more positive than gg ez. Nothing wrong with giving a newer/worse player a bit of encouragement versus rubbing salt in the wound. It's called being nice to people.

  • @CornMoss said:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/BH5Z59I1QL7Q/image.png

Every single good play I made was faltered by a perfectly timed body block, perfectly time final gen being done into adrenaline, someone dedicating themselves to being the box person so they don't do a conspicuous action and get Off the record value.

Seriously man, this is only ever possible to beat if a killer player were to play blight and nurse with their best add ons. These guys also proceed to tell me to stop crying about it that I did good, well if I did good then how come I got zero kills and 3 hooks (I got about 9 downs btw but they were worth nothing due to body blocks, adrenaline and other perks...)

I mean games like that are frustrating for sure. But you clearly ran them hard because you got a lot of bloodpoints, i mean only one of the survivors beat you on points. As long as they weren't toxic, i.e. teabagging, torch clicking then it's really all just about the challenge.

The bodyblocking sounds frustrating af tbf hate that when I'm killer. But then again i also get rinsed by pinheads in most games because randoms can't deal with his mechanics. So it's hard to feel too sorry.

  • I'll dip on anonymous modes for sure. Too likely that they will be a hacker. Or occasionally if i see a 4 person swf with silly high prestiges, that look like trolls. You know the type: Neas, fengs, yuis with bright coloured hair. David kings with silly bright cosmetics, dwight in the elf costume. Because those games are generally wholly unenjoyable.

I mean don't get me wrong i don't mind being outskilled by players better than me. But I will always avoid a game if the team looks like it's going to be toxic.

  • What solo q needs is in game VC or some sort of ping system. Kindred would help but communication is still the best rememdy for solo q. Because it needs something.

  • I reveal a fair few ghostfaces. You need to get him well centred in the screen, and listen for the audio cue. Sounds like a bit of tension build up music from a horror movie lol. Also got to be in range as well, i think he can stalk from further than survs can reveal, and the closer you are to him the easier it is to reveal. Best way to do it is when he's sneaking up on someone else and not noticed you.

  • Mmr is #########. I had the opposite issue a while ago. Had barely 150 hours play time and ended up against a prestige 55 nurse.

  • Definitely can get behind vecna as killer. But i reckon they should eddie munsen would be an amazing survivor. Why the hate for him?

I literally made on ragequit once. I wasnt even being toxic. I just ran him on a chase right across rpd, poor dude still hadn't landed hit on me after 3 gens so he just ragequit 😅 he was fairly new.

Oh dang i thought it was confirmed.

  • I'm fine with it. I enjoy looping weskers.

  • Can't wait for it. Love the stranger things content and i so want to get some of the cosmetics for steve, nancy and demo. Since i got dbd in august. Plus I'm also stoked because I reckon the survivor(s) will feature eddie munsen and he's an amazing character.

  • Yh maybe try swf. If you solo q it's goong to suck hard because without a bit of co ordination survivors usually get stomped hard unless they are very good individually. Playing altruistically especially will get you killed a lot more, I'll occasionally go for endgame unhooks but if I'm injured or NOED is up you better believe i am leaving through that gate in solo q.

I'm surprised by why no one thinks about removing hooks altogether, they are always the roots of the issues.

Hooks are a very big part of the game both thematically and mechanically. They are how the entity is summoned to sacrifice the survivor and what is more horror movie than putting a screaming innocent onto a rusty butcher's hook?

Plus the game would require an insane rework, i mean they'd have to chsmge the very core mechanic the game is based around so I don't see it happening.

  • I've not played plague, but i have trying out spirit more recently and she is amazingly good, so many ways to use her power, anti looping, avoiding palle stuns, insta grabbing ppl off of gens or even just standing still so ppl think you're phasing and try to double back 🤣 she's so much fun to play. Not so much fun to play against though.

Oh the ego of youth. Look buddy, you just don’t know what you’re talking about and you don’t know enough to realize you don’t know enough. But you have lots of self confidence… good for you. My only advice to you is to learn humility. I have posted lots of times on the reasons for tunnelling and camping and what could resolve it. You need to account for different skill levels, proper matchmaking, solo vs swf, killer tiers, angering the community, existing perks and addons, human nature… lots of stuff. If you want to see my opinions in detail, just search. But short story is they will always do it because it’s the simplest thing to do. Noobs want to ‘win’ which means ‘4k’ so sure seems easy to kill survivors by just hanging around the hook… is it really this easy? Yeah it is.

You want to post that you know how to solve this with basically no experience. It’s just a tad narcissistic and arrogant, even if well intended. You don’t even have enough time in game to see trends. You just have some case studies. You had some games where as a low skill killer you lost and some where you won and you offer up your observations like those of us with thousands of hours don’t already know this stuff. Yeah…matchmaking sucks so most times games are unbalanced in one way or another. BHVR actually adjusts MMR with a ridiculously basic metric so probably all solo ‘high mmr’ survivors are ranked far below where they should be in an endless downward feedback loop. There’s just so much broken stuff and reasons why they don’t care, or won’t care…

Anyhow, yeah… i appreciate your input to the community. If you want to solve camping/tunnelling the only thing that will work is to completely take away the ability by going to a version of the pyramid head method universally. Hook becomes cage that sends them far away.

I'm not saying i know everything, you clearly didn't my post through fully if you think i said that. I literally said "I personally don't really know how to remedy this situation" so read my post fully before you accuse me of being narcissistic and arrogant please. Especially if you are going to be condescending towards me.

The reason i said the opinion of a newer player is important is because new players are important to the game. If the game drives away newer players and old players drift away until it doesn't have enough players to support itself it can die, happened before with evolve.

Forums are literally for players, old and new to give feedback that can be looked at and hopefully acted on by the devs. I'm using this post to try and get a dialogue going about it. As you said that you've done as well. I have a couple of suggestions in the post, with pros & cons, and i wanted to hear more takes on it. I don't pretend to know everything, because I don't. No need to condescend to someone just because they are less experienced.

  • Yh we'd see wayyyy more DCs than hackers. Like shooting yourself in the foot to get rid of an itch.

  • DJ_Khaled_Suffering_from_Success.jpg

Lol this thread brought this to mind for me 🤣

  • Yh swf. Solo q in unplayable. I don't even like 3 player swf because we get so many players who just suicide on hook or DC the second they get hooked

  • I mean dead hard is super easy to counter. I miss a lot of DH triggers as survivor but as killer as soon as i realise a survivor has DH it's so easy to bait out. It's hardly "uncounterable"

  • Windows and windows lol. I run this on basically every build, i haven't been playing long enough to learn the tiles and this is a huge help, lets me run much longer chases.

  • Mm last night, had a feng min who 2 gens and one hook into the game, (wasnt even her who was hooked) decided to deliberately get herself hooked in basement and suicide on hook. After being asked why they did that and told that it's a pretty scummy move, recieved a tirade about how we're all noobs and don't know how to play the game. Gotta love toxic teammates.

1 … 51 52 53 54 55 … 58
