If I could talk to my survivor teammates I'd be banned after two matches because I have to find SOME way to put into words just how useless they are.
Pretty sure it's possible to do that without getting banned. Unless you have the impulse control of a hyperactive 12 year old who just discovered curse words. I've constructively criticised teammates and opponents after my dbd games in dms, and haven't had any issues there.
Hell if i can calm down someone i tunneled out early game while sweating for an adept. Im sure you can behave like a reasonable human being on VC, and if that is really too hard for you then you simply wouldn't need to put your mic in.

“I'm a relatively new player, picked the game up in august, racked up about 8 days play time in those couple of months.”
Says it all. Give me an educated opinion when you’re actually educated please.
First impressions as a new player. Pretty important opinion for a game, besides 8 days play time may not be the solid 90 days people have racked up over 6 years but doesn't mean i don't understand the game. Not being a sweat doesn't make me incompetent. But thanks for your opinion.
-
Cool. Seems kinda dumb lol. I mean other players can't even see it 🤣 we should definitely get like some kind of reqard, exclusive cosmetics would be good. Or a money shot of iridescent shards/ auric cells. I mean it took me 8 days of solid playtime to earn it. BHVR could give us like 1000 auric for that kind of dedication. Or devotion rather lol
-
Interesting suggetsion. Idk how it'd work in practice but i like the idea of changing the playing field as survivors die.
one downside though it may result in 2 or 3 swf groups deliberately attempting to get randos killed or ignore unhooking them to get the buff.

That's kind of the ebb and flow of dbd, but there's a lot of other considerations. For example, what killer you play, what perks you bring, what maps you load into. or even what perks and items the squad brings. A flashlight in the hands of a weak survivor can buy you a lot of time and distance, a flashlight in the hands of a strong survivor can cost you a lot of time and distance. All can make a huge difference. Personally, I am way more liable to camp and tunnel playing pallet break wraith as opposed to starstruck nurse I've noticed. I try to default to playing "fair" but once I need pressure I decide it's not personal anymore and do what I need to do. I'd advice watching some good streamers play the game. Obviously none of them start off with the "nooby" tactics, but you'll notice that if the game isn't going their way they know when to start camping/tunneling and also how to do it efficiently. I say just dodge the stigma and play to win. Don't be an ######### unnecessarily, but if you need pressure, don't way about doing what you need to do to get it.
Fair response. And i do try and stick to a fair playstyle unless survivors are being ######### or rinsing gens super quick.
-
Just survivors being toxic. Pretty standard. It's pretty standard stuff. And it is irritating when they chill in the exit gate specifically so they can teabag you. I just wander off and go break some walls to get a few more bloodpoints. Even had a group who came back into the map and slipped up so bad they turned a 0k into a 2k 🤣 one of them was a macro clicking torch jockey who'd been toxic all game. Would've loved to hear them when i got an insta grab while they unhooked and got 3 free hook phases off them.
-
I mean you lose points for camping hoom so there is a deterrant there. But it's a legitimate reliable, i.e. annoying tactic. When I'm against a sweaty swf i will absolutely camp hook if the survivors are clearly a cut above me. Because when players can take me of chases that last forever, the only way to catch them is bait them in with a nice juicy survivor on a hook. Because otherwise i get games where i get 0 kills and like 2-3 hooks total because i played nice with ppl who have been playing the game since 2016 when i started in august this year lol
Disclaimer i absolutely will not hook camp if the game feels even or I'm clearly winning. I pretty much always haul ass away from the hook once the surv is on it.

He's new, interesting to play and all the resi evil fanboys/girls are horny af for him lol.

Because clearly they enjoy getting 3 genned at the gallows corner. Never fails lol.

Voice chat only works for US players. In EU people speak different languages.
I mean a lot of players I've randomly met up with online from the eu speak basic english, and there are a lot of other languages in common, even with u.s. residents i.e. spanish and french.
Even if there is a language barrier it doesn't make VC a detriment. Just a resource that can be used to help stop some solo q games turning into the headless chicken simulator I often see in solo q.
Edit: I live in the U.K. so my matchmaking is usually europe. I do occasionally come across people in games who don't speak english, but not all that often.
-
I get where OP is coming from. From a survivor point of view camping the hook is always annoying. But my group always gets salty when someone does it early on. Because it does throw the game and is a lazy tactic that denotes a lock of skill.
As killer I try to avoid tunneling or camping hook in normal games. I only resort to it if I'm sweating for an adept/challenge. Or if I'm against a bully squad/just good players and down to 2 gens or less with less than 3 hooks, I'll use those tactics so that i can at least secure one kill in a game. Hell I'll face camp someone in egc if i dont have any kills yet. Doesn't always secure me a kill but it always ends up with someone trading a hook or two for saves so I get a few more bloopoints.
-
Removing swf is a bad idea. A game without the ability to play with friends is insane. Solo q needs a buff that applies to it only. Keep saying there needs to be a vc function in game so solo q survs can communicate. Would make solo q more bearable and not affect swf
-
Wish i could see endgame chat but I'm on xbox 🥲. I do usually message other xbox players for ggs. And responses are 95% positive. I even got a gg wp and a brief chill conversation with someone after I shamelessly tunneled one player out early and rinsed the rest for 4k to get my spirit adept. I wish i could chat with more PC and PS players.
-
Just report and get on with your day. Internet is full of malicious, predjudiced little goblins like that. It's awful but unfortunately we have to deal with it. If they do it on the regular they'll get banned pretty quick. Had one survivor cuss me out after I mori'd them, reported them on xbl and got a message from a different account of theirs cussing me out because their main account got a comms ban 🤣 pretty sure their alt got a ban as well. Satisfying stuff.
-
Seeing the killer means all 4 survivors could make a counter build. Which is insane, and would completely cripple the killer. Being able to counter a survivor's items is not nearly as big an advantage. Like it's rare to see more than 1 survivor with a torch anyway.
Counter playing medkits and toolkits is also kind of difficult, survs will still get value from them even if you run perks to counter them, i.e. sloppy butcher or regression perks. I did make a thread a while ago suggesting lightborn should allow survs who bring torches into that game to be protected from losing them since it automatically makes them worse than useless. But nobody agreed lol. Would be nice i feel though, nothing worse than bring a purple torch with odd bulb and sapphire lense to lose at lesst the add ons and possibly the torch too just because the killer took one perk.
-
It's a correlation. Usually higher prestige players are good but not all the time. Gotta say the one time i faced a prestige 55 nurse it was a short, unpleasant game.

-"But why remove people's ability to choose maps?"
The solution is simple if you have two children. How do you make sure a dessert is perfectly divided between the two? One cuts and the other chooses which piece they want.
Change the system so that picking a map lets the opposing side choose which version you get. Example : you pick Corn map as survivor and as Killer I will always pick Abattoir as it is the least broken corn map.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/IA7IOMMFRXE2/farm-realms.png
One of these is not like the other. Of these five maps a killer will almost certainly always pick Abattoir over every other option given the choice. Why? Because small maps are more fair to killers that are not Nurse/Blight.
Indoor maps would combine several of the old offerings - maybe combine: Haddonfield,Lerys, Crotus Penn, The Game.
You say i want to go to one of those maps and the killer picks the option (or vice versa).
This way you get a choice and the opposing player gets a choice. Everyone wins?
If you watch a number of content creators their game "crashes" whenever people use certain offerings. That's the current reality because most people are not picking a map based on whim. They have a strategy in mind they want to abuse by picking the map.
Being able to pick the map like this would be about as fair as being able to use an offering before going to a lobby to guarantee which killer you play against. Or imagine if a killer had an offering for : "next lobby can't have any SWF in it."
Simply put : picking the map is broken. If a killer is broken by not playing on an indoor map then maybe certain addons should force an indoor map.
Kind of a cool idea. Letting the opposite side pick the map variant. And maybe if survivors bring two conflicting map offerings then killer gets to choose between the two as well.
I suppose this is probably something that's more of an issue with high level play. I've only got about 7 days play time, I know the maps reasonably well, but at my level of play I can't say that I feel that there are any maps that appear to favour killer or survivor. I just know that i hate midwich elementary school with every fibre of my being.

Oh they aren't. But they're also a massive cause for them in DBD specifically, next to Doctor/Onryo VFX and a bug that makes lights in houses flicker far faster than they ever should. They've been complained about for literal years as a massive seizure warning. It's about time it got fixed.
Agreed, I wonder if the sudden colour and brightness change of torch/flash bang blinds might not do something similar. Could definitely add a seizure prevention option to ease these effects and maybe make blind effects darken the screen to black rather than brighten it.

Accessibility exists to ensure that as many people as possible are able to play video games. They shouldn't be alienated because of something out of their control and when it's this easy to do, it makes sense for them to do so, since it allows more people to buy and play their game, and thus makes them more money.
Not saying games shouldn't be accessible, but I doubt flash lights are the only thing in game that can trigger seizures.

"No it's a "you are playing the wrong killer issue".
I refuse to play Nurse/Blight right now as they are the killers that work. It's easy mode when not against SWF.
Should I be rude to you sand say you lose on Badham - you have no skill. No instead I will say that Badham IV is "ok" and the rest are trash.
Efficient players+SWF+Large maps = lose on certain killers.
But why remove people's ability to choose maps? Especially when there are map centric achievements people may want to go for. Especially if maps were balanced. Tbh i can't see that any of them is a definite lose for killer or survivor anyway. Depends on where gens spawn. So even in a single map there is a degree of randomness.

I feel the same, I'd rather mori a toxic survivor or someone who wasn't helping the team opposed to someone who was very likely the strongest member of the squad. If they wanted to change moris they could have started selling alternate versions like the mobile game for 5 bucks a pop and I would have bought plenty.
As it is I'm scrambling to use up all mine before they get turned into a blood point offering. I have all perks unlocked for my killers I don't really need bps.
Yh I've been spamming a load of mine too, and it is nice to just have that choice to mori a survivor. This change will really put me off playing killer and maybe the game entirely.
-
Well it's one less way for survivors to be toxic I guess. Maybe they should apply the same cool down to crouching 🤣 doesn't induce seziures but it would be nice to have it in. Also can they seriously actually be making this change to prevent seizures? Correct ne if I'm wrong but I thought general advice for people prone to seizures was not not play video games.
-
Would be pretty cool. Xenomorph would be a very cool killer.
-
Sounds similar to what I do with loopers. If I come across a player who I just can't seem to get a hit on, then i don't let them draw me into an insanely long chase while their mates rush gens. I'll get someone hooked or downed and force them to get in close to save them so it's easier for me to hit them.
-
I'm just glad mandy said the mori changes aren't set in stone. They sound absolutely terrible, it will be impossible to crawl out of hatch, killers can't really choose when to mori. And people have mentioned that the mori is essentially a cutscene that takes place outside of the game environment which sounds, well, just kinda bad. I love moris the way they are, just maybe weaken the ebony mori token a bit, like have it allow 2 moris on double hooked survivors instead of every surv in the game.
Like the new mori system sounds essentially like the cypress mori. Which i hate using because i don't always want to have to sweat a 4 kill game to get to enjoy doing a mori. As i quite like allowing the last survivor to escape if they played well and weren't toxic. It will really hurt my enjoyment playing killer, which is already being eroded because matchmaking is throwing a LOT of toxic survivors at me recently.
-
Man the matchmaking is #########. I had a game last week where my team, 3 of whom had been playing less than a month, (not playtime we got dbd a month ish before this game.) And the other with like 30 days playtime. All in all we are a very mediocre team, with a sub 50% survival rate ended up against a prestige 55 nurse. Who proceeded to take us apart in barely 5 minutes. We had literally zero chance of combatting this nurse. I couldn't view their profile because cross platform but at prestige 55 on a single character i imagine their playtime is insane. No way should low to average skill players be seeing killers like that.
-
My instant response was absolutely not. But ryuk or some of the other shinigami from death note would be cool, or perhaps some of the ghoul characters from tokyo ghoul would also make some pretty sick killers.

It's not an issue of preference. It has more to do with most of the maps are very one sided for survivor. I lost every time I went to Thompson House, Gardeb of Joy, Eyrie of crows and Fractured Cow shed getting to rank 1 killer this month. Those maps are ridiculously busted when playing as killer.
I won every time I was on The game, RPD and Lerys - even though those maps also favor the survivor. It's not a knowledge/awareness problem as some of the maps are almost a guaranteed loss if you are not playing the top 2 killers and you are playing against efficient survivors (with at least two people in a SWF).
Be that as it may it'd be better to ask for balanced maps rather than removing map offerings.
-
They should do a stealth patch so that it empties the torch if you do it lol

Title pretty much, do any of you experienced killers know how to patrol the gates properly? Everytime I get down to a straight 1v1 (Hatch closed) they always get me at the gates.
I'm aware of getting the progress to about 24% then hiding until the killer "checks the area." Is this what's getting me?
I'm aware of No Way Out and that it tells you when a gates opened, but I don't really want to run a single perk to cover me and I won't learn like that.
I play everyone but mostly been playing Wesker.
Can any experienced players point me in the right direction? Gracias
Depends on the rng i.e. if the gates spawn close together. Certain killers are amazing at it. Trapper if he traps them, you get noise notification at least, wraith with the fast move, spirit too. Hag can trap the levers too. Demo is the king if you get two portals setup before any lever is pulled the last survivor better have a hatch key or they are never getting out. Doctor can static charge to scan around the gate. Obvsly ranged killers have a big advantage to nailing survivors trying to pull levers. Catching an injured survivor inside the exit zone with one of deathlinger's spears is one of my favourite plays as killer lol.
Since you play wesker you need to rely on basic movement and tactics. You only need an unobstructed view of the top of the lever, if you see a light survivor is guaranteed to be nearby. So find a central position and flip flop to spots where you can see the levers until you see the red light. Then chase em down. Aura reading perks may help. I often run spies from the shadows often useful for catching survivors near gates. But sometimes the hooks are simply too far away from each other and you'll lose that last survivor.

Why would you play killer if you despise hooks?
Because it's fun to mori survivors. Hooking does get a little boring for killers. I like being able to mix it up a bit and add a bit of my particular killers feel to the match with a mori or two. And it's tactically useful too, love watching people try to flashlight stun me when i go for a mori on a downed survivor lol.
-
It's an online game. Some people will always be toxic. It's an immutable fact of the internet and any type of competitive game. An unfortunate fact but an immutable one. Just gotta ignore it. Tbh I meet far more respectful and friendly players than i do toxic ones.
-
Tbh maps really depend on your preference and knowledge. Personally as killer i love coldwind farm and eyrie of crows and do very well on them. It is a little unbalanced for swfs as they have 4 offerings to the killers one so get a lot more flexibility with their offerings as a team. But what can you do? Players do need a way to be able to pick maps because rng sucks. It might skew the odd match involving sweaty 4 person swfs. But on the whole i have no issues with mechanic. Except maybe the whole 4 of the same offering can counteract a sacrificial ward. Maybe remove that as it skews the balance very heavily towards 4 man swfs who are already organised enough as it is without being able to choose the map too.

It doesn't say this in game, but Lifeguard Whistle actually decreases the detection range by 1 meter. So if you put those addons together, the detection distance modifiers end up offsetting.
They nerfed the addon a long time ago to have that penalty and never updated the description.
#########? Why isn't that mentioned in the game stats?
-
@Elcopollo said:
Yes, they stack and can be used together. In general, if I remember correctly, almost all killer addons stack, unless description states otherwise.
Have you tested this? It's not stacking explicitly, the wording just makes me think they may not work together, as the thorny vines explicitly say that from the abyss detects the survivor and the lifeguard whistle may be considered a different source for the effect.
Seems like it would be a useful interaction if it does increase the detection distance. Currently i usually run lifeguard whistle with the upside down resin to make portals take a long time to close for survivors. But more detection distance would be worth the quicker portal closing time.

Man no mither is an awful perk anyway, hard to make it worse lol. Like you could maybe make a build with perks that buff you when injured. But if you get caught you are gonna get wrecked. They should definitely make it so that grunts of pain are reduced by 100%
-
Yeah gotta agree with the others. There is no way for BHVR to differentiate between genuine DCs from lag etc and rage quits where the player simply kills their internet connection. And removing the matchmaking penalties would cause so many more people to ragequit. I already see it a lot. Only way to solve the problem for you is to find a way to fix your connection.
-
Tbh I see a lot more DCs than i do hook suicides. I've hook suicided once in a match where I'm clearly against a very sweaty nurse that was mincing us from the start. Blinked to me and grabbed me off a gen in under a minute. Turned out it was a prestige 55.
I might have done it once or twice more in games where the killer is clearly destroying the team and is being super toxic about it. I'd rather just give the killer their hook phases and peace out to the next game.
I do see other players doing it. Usually when I'm steamrolling as killer or occasionally as survivor when we haven't had opportunity to unhook.
-
If a team is struggling against me i tone it down a little, ill avoid tunneling, occasionally slug someone and run after someone else so they can get picked up. And i usually i let the last one go provided they weren't toxic or just hiding the entire game.
-
I split roughly equally between surv and killer. Gen rushing is annoying but it's the late game where you win as killer, herd them to smash through the far out gens then just lure them into a 3 gen, run oppression or pop goes the weasel. Maybe franklins or something to mess with their items. Just gotta play against the tactics.
-
I vote demo, portalling around, getting undetectable and shred lunges makes it an excellent hit and run killer, ambush a survivor then cross the map and attack another one while stealthed in like 10-15 secs. Wraith is pretty good for it too and maybe spirit with their invisible fast movement.

Why does everyone talk like DH is used only in the open?
It can be used in a loop and guranteed pallet drop.
I think thats pretty boring.
It still requires good timing to trigger, i miss time a lot of my deadhard triggers when i play surv. Maybe your mmr is just high and you are against good players.
-
Or maybe just not do the mori patch? Better that than get rid of swf. That would be an insane decision. But I do agree that the mori patch would be an insane thing for swf squads. Solid awf squads are already good enough. They do not need help.
-
New dh is pretty easy to counter. And requires really fine timing to use. Just gotta hold of the attack for a few seconds, especially when survs use it aggressively, they run towards you for a sec it's pretty obvious they are going for the trigger. Or just play doctor and shock therapy them so they can't trigger it lol
-
If only it did. Killers have a big advantage looking for hatch versus survivor because they can move freely without needing to worry about stealth. Survs unless they are running Left Behind are at a big disadvantage, they have to try to avoid killer and stay hidden while looking for hatch. Whereas killer can beeline all around the map as fast as they like they simply need to find the hatch before the survivor does.

Ever since playing Left 4 Dead, I've always had a fascination with the asymmetric multiplayer games. I generally shy away from multiplayer nowadays EXCEPT for these kind of games. I really wish Back 4 Blood had done the VERSUS mode like L4D had done because I'd probably still be playing it but instead it was just that stupid arena shooter style multiplayer :(
All well...one day my dream of another VERSUS multiplayer mode will come true. The Texas Chainsaw game looks like it could be a bit promising in that regard...
Th asymmetric games are extremely fun and interesting, the thing I liked about evolve was the balance and progression of a match, how the monster started off weak and became stronger, going from a team of 4 hunting a creature to the balance slowly shifting and the monster becoming more dangerous as it levelled up and eventually turning on the hunters and presenting a serious threat. Plus various different games modes. I feel dbd while a great game is a little unbalanced with the killer being clearly the power role.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned pig. Amanda young is a pretty evil character through and through. Jigsaw takes her under his wing but she doesn't agree with the way he does things and simply wants to hurt and kill people. I know she isn't an "original killer" but still.
Plus i think julie counts. Susie is definitely manipulated and intimidated but julie went along with murder pretty easily.
