This is a "trend" I have started to notice with DBD streamers, where they assume that someone in their lobby is stream-sniping with little to no evidence of it.
Was playing against a streamer who DCed because I "looked at their stream to find them" even though I saw them healing across the map thanks to SH: Floods of Rage activating. And even when explaining that, they still refused to accept it and banned me from their stream chat as a result.
Sometimes you get just outplayed, but these people just refuse to accept it. Which would be fine if they kept that to themselves but on occasion they do send people to go and harass others, and it happened to me of course. I had to spend like an hour removing racial slurs and awful messages from my Steam account because the streamer encouraged their viewers to harass me.
I do not get the mindset behind this type of stuff, it is disgusting and should be addressed more often by the community.
Streamers will do whatever gets them more views. And most often it tends to be making loud outrageous comments for attention.
Plus stream sniping and people going onto streams to troll the stremer are both pretty common.

It's actually pretty easy to counterplay a knight doing that. Use 2 survs. One to trigger the guard and lure it (and probably the knight away) the other to unhook.
It's not broken and knight is mid tier at best.
-
Yh iridescent items/addon/offerings etc show up less. But there's a much smaller pool of them so you end up with loads of the individual items.
There is so many green rarity things. E.g. i have over 50 ebony mori offerings on my demo and like maybe 7 ivory moris.

VC for survivors would just be dumb.
Remember that confusion during the trials is part of DbD's atmosphere. The info added to the hud in the last patch (barely) tiptoes the line, VC would push it over into something that the game was never intended to be.
Also personally I like endgame chat. I'd rather get screamed at in post-game than sit in empty silence.
It would help solo q be less unbearable. Particularly for new players. Swfs get VC anyway so I don't see why the game doesn't simply have an integral chat to keep all survivors on even footing. Currently solo q games usually killer steamrolls unless you have a full lobby of competent survs which is extremely rare.
And sure I'm sure most people enjoy being verbally abused versus just not.

End game chat can be a very toxic place (and is honestly best kept closed) but this is not one of those instances.
They have a point, it isn't impolite or rude to say they dislike a aspect of the game. The only mildly rude thing here was their choice of language and that's stretching it
This isn't a case of people being weird but you taking things to personal. They never said anything about you or your playstyle. Just that they dislike the knight
They could certainly find a better way of saying like "i don't like playing against knight" cause the way they worded it certainly sounded like they were swearing at the player.
-
Yh endgame chat is a bad idea. People say VC for survs would be toxic. Yet are fine with killers and survs being able to interact at exactly the point where everybody is likely to be at their saltiest?
Smart move

While there are some issues to be worked on and balanced of course, I think a lot boils down to one major thing:
Humans don't like things that are out of their control - more specifically to DBD, players don't like situations where their perceived skill level doesn't dictate how they actually do in a game. A lot of situations in this game cause a player to "lose" even if they feel they shouldn't have. But the fact is, this game is almost all RNG, from perk choices to player levels to map spawns, etc.
Once DBD players 1). stop taking this game so seriously and 2) come to terms with the random nature of it, they'll be a lot a better off. It's a mentality issue that a lot of people have to work on themselves.
A playlist split would help with that. Casual and ranked playlists would be great for helping olayers find what they're looking for experience wise. Casual for sure would help take the pressure off.
Last thing I want when I wanna have a chill game with my deathslinger meme hex build or twins is to get a 4 stack of scoop ahoy Steves and neon neas all with flashlights to genrush the game in 5 minutes

Is there a community to find other good DBD survivors? Solo queue, half the times I get matched with crap survivors. Even if I have a friend we get demolished because of teammates. I will run the killer most of the game and yet it doesn't matter how good I play, sometimes I do and nobody gets out. Some killer perks definitely need to be nerfed. You can play a mediocre game as a killer and get 3 or 4 kills because of perks or bad survivors help. And you can play an A+ game as a survivor and die. I love this game, but I'm not having fun anymore.
I've got a small discord that plays together using discord chat. Everyone's pretty chill, we're not exactly master loopers but we do get escapes. Lmk if you want an invite and we can swf ๐

Yeah I have zero issues with DH. Sure it's annoying as killer sometimes but it's easy enough to counter. And bloody hard to trigger as survivor lol.

I agree with you that distortion / or some other perk that hides traces / auras should block the killer instinct, but for some reason everyone thinks that they are asking to nerf the legion. God, nothing bad threatens him
Thing is I don't want something that blocks it. My favourite idea is to get an audio cue so they know when KI is active on them and killer knows where they are.
Still useful for surv but doesn't hamstring a killer like legion who relies on the KI.
-
I play surv and killer roughly equally.
I'd prefer a 60-70% kill rate.
I almost always let a surv or two go when i play killer. And I'd be stoked to escape 1 in 3 of my surv games lol.
-
I'm on xbox so I'm spared the endgame chat salt. I'll occasionally get DMs but they're usually pretty chill, GGs and WPs Salt is very rare but when I do get it i just tell them to chill and then ignore it.
Had a rather memorable one a while ago where I tunneled a vittorio late game. And they got salty because I let the last surv go. Even went so far as to get a friend of their to msg me claiming to have sent evidence of my "rule breaking" to bhvr and messaging me on an alt account after my xbox report got them comms banned ๐คฃ

I always play survivor so therefore I have no idea how it is to play killer so I wanted y'all's perspective on tunneling. If you do tunnel, why do you do it? I am not asking out of saltyness, I'm genuinely curious if it is such a needed game strategy. Do you always tunnel, or is there something a survivor does to influence it? If you do not tunnel, why don't you? What do you do instead of tunneling to still have a productive game? I want to understand what's going on inside killer mains minds so it will help me get less frustrated by getting tunneled out some games. I also want your perspective on this type of stuff since I never play killer, i have no idea how it feels to be on the other side so I don't think it's fair to judge until I get some knowledge from the other end.
Tunneling is effective but lazy. I tend not to do it too hard early game when I play killer. I'll sometimes do it mid/late game to secure a kill and slow gen progression. Or occasionally if someone unhooks and I can only see the unhooked surv, often I'll abandon chase with them but not everytime. And I'll hard tunnel anyone who BMs, nothing wrong with playing well but if you teabag/torch click me you can bet I'm taking you down lol.

If they can't find a better idea than "make her like Knight", we could possibly see her as a skin for Knight so they don't step on eachother's toes.
Wouldn't happen, BHVR doesn't change killer's powers with cosmetics. Besides those are just spitballing ideas. There's a lot of cool stuff they could do with her.
-
No way iron grasp needs buffing. It's pretty much a guarenteed hook unless killer is incompete t or the survs are running hardcore wiggleout/bodyblocking builds.
Boild over isn't that strong again unless survs are making effort to bodyblock. It only gives extra progress if killer does a big drop.
-
Short answer because BHVR doesn't care. Twins won't earn them money so they can't be bothered to fix them

@Marik1987 said:
Okay guys, please read till the end to get my idea at full potential.
With that being said, lets jump into the Headline:
Hooks instead of Kills
A Killer wins a game, if he manages to hook 8+ times in a game. Coming into 2nd stage as survivor do not longer count on your hook-counter in the bottom left. With that, there is no reason to camp someone, because you dont have any progress on your Hook-Count anymore to "buy" hooks with this strategy. However, the Death-Countdown-Speed gets increased, so that u need to unhook. 4% will no longer be a part of the game!
You cannot sacrifice people with a 3rd hook
The killer is no longer able to kill someone with the 3rd hook-stage, because you are no longer be able to hook a survivor more than 2 times. The Entity blocks the hooks in this situation, because she has already enough from this survivor.
Your goal as a killer
Your goal is to hook every survivor 2 times in total (which grants you 8 hook-stages at your hook-count in the bottom-left). After this is achieved, every killer gains a new, special ability, called Finisher Mori. If u manage to down someone for the current "9th" hook, you can mori them instantly. This replaces the kill via 3rd hook-stage. However: If u down a survivor for the 3rd time, but u havent gathered 8 hook-stages, you cannot hook or mori them (you need to let them on the ground).
You receive a merciless killer by at least killing 2 survivors.
Early conclusion: Now we see how strong every killer-character on average really is. How many hooks on average can every single killer-character manage to get.
In exchange for Tunneling/Camping, which is useless in this game-mechanic, Killers receive some buffs Basekit (and then we shall see how every killer performs to adjust their Power.
What should a killer receive Basekit?
- Barbecue and Chili (a killer needs to know where to go to chase another survivor. Camping/Tunneling is no longer an option.
- Corrupt Intervention (good for slow-M1-Killers to help them, bad for guys like Blight who have the first down in under 60sec.
- Deadlock
However: All Gen-PROGRESSION and REGRESSION-Perks should be adjusted. The main focus of the game has to be Chase, Chase, Chase, Chase, Chase.
(This is a early idea and by far not perfect, but it would reward the killers for doing stuff, it would reward us killers for hooks (and finally REAL Balance for the Characters) and survivors can play the game for at least 8 hook-stages. IF this results in too many games without Finisher Moris on various killers, you know you have to buff them in terms of faster Pallet-Breaks, faster Hook-Animation etc.)).
What are your thoughts about this IDEA (!) ?
It's an interesting idea but thinking through it I see a lot of problems.
First off when you have a surv double hooked. You then can't really do anything to them except slug them repeatedly which would not be fun. Because if you let them run around then they will sit on gens, or make themselves a nightmare for you in chases with other survs, bodyblocking taking protection hits, all slowing you down and foiling hooks.
Plus much as tunneling sucks if someone does it early game, it's still a vital fall back tactic. Without being able to remove a survivor killers will have a much tougher time preventing genrushes and controlling the game.
If one surv can consistently outdo you in chase then your game stalls and you get genrushed
Stealth plays would be insane. If one survivor could just locker hop and stay away from killer, which is pretty easy if you try, then your game stalls and you get genrushed.
The mechanic would be open to abuse in so many ways by survs, and without huge buffs to killers and a rework on how gens work it would make killer unbearable to play.
Quite apart from all the tactical issues I've mentioned, if killers can't actually kill someone until they have 8 hooks then their games wouldn't seem rewarding in the slightest. If I get outplayed by a team currently I can usually still secure a kill or two in the EGC. With this mode it'd be 4 man escapes on the regular. And dbd shouldn't play like that.
Don't get me wrong, I dislike tunneling/facecamping etc and we definitely need a better way to discourage it. And it's nice to see an imaginative well thought out suggestion instead of the usual bellyaching I see on the forums. But I really don't see this idea improving the game short of reworking the entire game from the ground up. Which BHVR won't do because it's a lot of time and money as well as a huge risk.
-
Meh, not a fan, the killers are supposed to be supernaturally enhanced by the entity. The whole idea of the game is based around the fact that the survivors cannot stand against the killers, only delay them with pallets and blinds.
Having a survivor 1v1 a killer makes zero sense. There isn't really a fair way to do it. Either all 4 survs work together to kill the killer, unfair and bully squads will refine it to a fine art and make the game an absolute nightmare. And the last surv being able to kill killer seems super unfair too, killer has a good game then all of a sudden gets insta killed by a survivor. I don't see that going down well.
-
No mither should give you extra points to spend.

Here's a random image
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/B1ML0YGTLNTH/image.png
How do you get her to fit through doors / windows? What would her power even be? Even in RE8 (Village) in the playable gamemode she's more of a brawler character. Also I would say I already know the image isn't fully accurate - But in regards to comparison it's pretty accurate demonstrating how bigger she is compared to Nemesis who is already quite big in DBD.
I doubt ppl will care if she's downsized a bit. Freddy stands at 5 foot tall in game for some reason. And she's a vampire. Could have a power for tracking injured survs or summon her daughters as NPCs like knight. Maybe she could use them exclusively to put survivors on hooks instead of chases.
-
Lol i feel like she'd get memed so much harder than any other killer. Probably have them all crouched up behind her trying to touch her butt ๐
Srsly though I think she'd be a pretty cool killer. We don't have a vampire yet.

No it's not. It's a bannable offence, you literally get a matchmaking ban for doing it. In dbd it's even worse because we don't have backfilling and a DC causes a sure fire loss every time.
Hook suiciding less so but doing it at the start of a game is a huge scumbag move. Play. The. Game.

The core use isn't 'faster gens', it's the ability to blow up the final gen or break a 3gen.

I think folks have been suggesting this for ages. No idea why the RNG test is still in the game.
Then why do I hardly ever see it used? It's only useful if you have a full communicating team. And even then it's risky.
-
@Cyber686 said:
i wont tolerate killer sided bs such as 30 feet hits though window or hit after pallet was droped. Facecamp, tunneling goes in same basket. If BHVR intitled to force me play anyway with DC penalites bs instead of fixing it i will DS or suicide on hook and play some other games.
I get nailed in these situations too, that's just latency when it comes to vaults and pallets. As for tunneling and facecamping? They suck but they are legitimate tactics. But not reportable, DCing however is, you ruin the game for the rest of your team by ragequitting if you do it early. If you really dislike that many aspects of the game, because tunneling and face camping are super common, then don't play.

I don't understand why the developers and Behavior just doesn't care. So many people have stopped playing because of the hacking and cheating in this game.
Players have become more toxic than any player I've seen in any other game. And survivors working with killers, leading killers to people, pointing out survivors who are hiding, etc. It's cheating. It's not fair. Reporting doesn't work.
Like, WHY IN GOD'S FORSAKEN NAME do you play the game just to be a complete douche bag to other players? Are you really that ridiculously self loathing and such an ugly gross human being that you come onto a virtual game to spread your filthy ugly hate?
I'm so sick of this disgusting, cheating behavior from players. I will never understand how, even in a stupid video game, that people can be so toxic and ugly to other people and be absolutely okay with being that way. It's seriously a mental disorder.
You'll always see toxicity in games. If you think DBD is the worst then you've clearly not played many games. Particularly overwatch or league of legends. Personally I find dbd to be fairly chill compared to a lot of other games. But then again I'm xbox so I don't see endgame chat. From what I have seen of it, it doesn't seem as bad as my friend being called racial/homophobic slurs by some idiot midgame in overwatch for not healing as much as said idiot thinks she should've ๐ hell I play Real VR Fishing which is the most chill, non competitive game I know and I still see ppl on the official fb/discord groups getting at each other's throats ๐คฃ people are the problem.
I think what Viking is trying to say is if you take a clip of the offender then send the clip to BHVR using the support ticket system on their site THEN you'll get results. The in game report system really doesn't do anything so I'd ignore it.
Cheaters I find are pretty rare. And I haven't seen that many survs working with killer. (Killers tend to just down them) bad games with unpleasant players will happen. Just got to clip, report if you feel so inclined. Then move onto the next game.

"casual versus competitive" that's the summary of it all. Either I play casually and lightly and I'm content to stay in the lower part of the game or I play to win and I strive to win, I'm not "friends" with the opponent (in the game of course). Taking it to the extreme it's like sport at an amateur and professional level, if you like to play as an amateur it's your free choice and that's fine, but if I want to play at another level well, it's my choice.
that's why I argue that, instead of this stupid MMR where everyone, both those who want to play casually and those who want to play seriously, are together, there should be two modes "ranked" and "unranked" and everyone would find his oasis of peace
Absolutely agree. I've mentioned about a ranked/casual split a fair few times on the forums. Even made a thread about it
@HoodedWildKard said:
Seen and participated in a lot of threads over the past few days arguing whether the game is killer or survivor sided.
A lot of it comes down to the build you take in. If I sweat with my best killer builds I'll pretty much always be able to get a 4k. But I don't want to do that all the time.
Sometimes I'd like to muck around with weaker killers and not have to compete with survivors running commodius BNPs, dead hard triggers every time. Not having to run the same perks every game, not having to tunnel or face camp to secure kills.
For crying out loud why can't we get separate ranked and casual playlists? Keep the current system for ranked, maybe ramp up the BP rewards for ranks give specific rewards and skins for it, make winning appealing in that playlist. And make another play list explicity for casual play. Perhaps with a reward or mmr system based an upvote system like overwatch.
Players with more "upvotes" get matched together. Upvoted players get BP rewards and/or special cosmetics too.
Allows the competitive scene to thrive without ruining the fun for casual and newer players.
It would hugely improve the game for the most part. Because the current melting pot of a playlist is an absolute mess. Survs complain about being tunneled, facecamped and slugged by salty BMing killers. Killers complain about being genrushed, bodyblocked and torch bullied by salty BMing survivors. 2 separate playlists based on how you want to play at the time would be nice.
The other issue is that as an asymmetric game, getting the balance right at higher levels of play is going to be extremely tricky. A team of 4 extremely good survivors is going to be a nightmare to play against for most killers. And a basically competent killer is going to absolutely take apart a team of mediocre/new survivors. Just look at tournament rules, there are certain disallowed perks etc which shows the game is unbalanced at a base level.

@Saiph said:
Ah yeah, the usual "BHVR must buff killers or I will tunnel survivors".
Notice a pattern:
BHVR brings killer-sided patch 6.1. Killers reaction -> "Yeah but still gens go too fast, we have to tunnel to win".
BHVR adds Reassurance. -> "That's it, killer is dead, we'll have to tunnel to win now"
BHVR reveals that killer has a historically high 60% winrate. -> "Yes but still, we have to tunnel otherwise we can't win."
BHVR adds solo queue indicators: "Yep, definitely can't win without tunneling now."
At this point, if you really want to tunnel that bad just do it bro, you don't have to announce it to the world. In fact, you're not fooling anybody, most of you are already hardcore tunneling, and the reason you can't win without tunneling anymore is not because the game is more survivor-sided but just because your MMR has increased and now you're getting matched with tryhards like you...
OP's next post will be something along the lines of "I'm only getting matched against SWFs please BHVR let us dodge and remove MMR".
If survivor is that strong please go play it and also record your gameplay so we can admire your insane win streaks. You're so oblivious to solo queue state that you probably haven't even realized that sloppy/mangled bug makes it unplayable right now, it's a waste of time like it has always been but now you can't even sit at a gen because you're healing and mending and getting erupted every 2 minutes.
This post is a pretty accurate look at the average killer main attitude. Tunneling is a lazy, boring tactic and most killers who play hard to win use it regularly.
So they see high mmr. All of a sudden they are struggling harder as a 50-200 hour killer against survs with 2,000 hours plus. They lean harder & harder into their crutch mechanic. Which makes for very boring games. I had this myself when I first started playing killer. It was incredibly easy to 4k games early on and suddenly I hit an mmr wall filled with bully squads. Took me a while to improve enough to push through that and now I can compete with them fairly evenly.
As someone who plays surv and killer roughly equally, I find survivor much harder to play. It doesn't take many mistakes to lose a game for survs. As killer if you know what you're doing most games are fairly easy.
Which is why I've switched up my killer playstyle. I aim for fun now and don't care about my rankings. And it's great fun. Sure I'll indulge in a little tunneling or facecamping every now and then if I'm against a sweaty team. But as long as survs don't BM I'll usually let one or two go. If I do well I take the game to a point where I know I've won, usually 2 survs alive without gens being finished and then I'll step back, let them finish gens and leave. If survs outplay me then I'll play normally right up to the end. Maybe facecamp one out in the EGC just to secure a kill (often ends up in trading a lot of hooks so plenty of BP) occasionally after trading a few hook states I'll step back from the hook and nod to let the unlucky hookee's team mates to take them off and escape.
I rarely ever tunnel, never in the early game. And tbh I've been loving it. I still get the challenge, it slows my mmr rise so I don't get too many mlg seal team 6s. And it's just a lot of fun, I have a lot of positive interactions with other xbox players (since I can't dm PC or PS players) and it makes the experience more positive.
I even had an oni game where the first surv to die messaged me just after I sacrificed them and I thought "here we go, here comes the tunneling accusation" but they'd sent me a gg WP. And we had a decent chat after. Probably because I didn't tunnel anyone early or facecamp any of them.
Tldr: killer mains need to chill a bit, if you sweat 4ks every game, you'll get sweaty survivors. If you tunnel, you can't complain if survs gen rush.
-
^^ this.
I like to get everybody on 2 hooks before I sac people if the game isn't a gen rushy one.
I doubt tunneling killers would really benefit from a hook counter anyway. Because when killers tunnel a surv they stay on their back constantly and usually follow them straight off of hook.
The only people it'd drastically affect are goon squads who go in all woth the same surv and same skin.
-
I tend to let a few go. It's unlikely to bump their mmr because they'll die in like 90% of their games anyway and very few killers tend to let survs go.
New survivors have it rough, they often get tunneled out by convenience because they lose chases extremely quickly and are bad at staying hidden.
-
Yh idk. All it does is cause killers to lobby dodge or play excessively sweaty.
One of my regular swf mates is a prestige 100 kate. It's often frustrating playing with them because a lot of killers dodge lobbies that they play, and the ones we do get are often super sweaty and tend toneither ignore them completey or tunnel them mercilessly.
Come on bhvr, there is no need to show prestiges. Killers only use it to dodge games. Let them see the skin and see the items but not the prestige.

While this is technically true, if you can get someone to burn their DH on a miss swing there are some advantages.
1. Missed attack cooldown is shorter than hit cooldown.
2. No on hit speedboost.
3. On a missed attack you retain bloodlustso you can mindgame/bruteforce the loop if they drop, or have a better chance to catch them if the try to go to another pallet.
Or you can just mindgame the DH. Don't need to swing to make someone use it.

Incapacitation? So you can't interact with anything in the trial? That seems kind of insane.
Tbh I'd like to see them totally remove grunts of pain from the current no mither, including while downed for a better chance to self res maybe give it a faster crawl speed. Then it might be kinda useful. Adding the speed boost in chase is a nice idea. Make it more effective in chases and not a death sentence. Maybe add a 50% BP bonus for everything since it's a risky perk.
-
If you're running distortion then maybe deliberately take chase at some point.
Besides aura perks are not the only way to catch survivors. KI, listening for audio, plenty of ways to catch survs even if they use distortion.

It was always intended to do that. It just didn't work properly. Bit of a shame really. It's an immensely bad perk, you get tokens slower than normal repair speed which is fine. But losing all the tokens on a hit make it utterly useless. Lose them on a gen blowup sure.
Otherwise it'd have a niche use to help prevent 3 gens. But as it stands it's a dead perk

I know that, but it's not what I want to mean, sometimes, I got the meme like, the big guy looking at the tiny gremlins who do everything, like it can't be calm
So you are here, looking on the ground the survivor who just turn around you and smack, you slap his face after he tried the DH
What I want to mean is like, you can faking a probable attack, just to bait survivor, with or without DS, just for pushing her to make a new mistake
Idk seems hit and miss. Missing an attack just gives them more time to reach a pallet or vault.

I made a thread mentioning this issue when they announced the change. A dev confirmed a DC would not count as a kill for rating. So they've known about it. Just didn't bother to fix the issue.

If you want to bait dead hard just don't swing asap, a missed hit can give the surv time to vault or throw a pallet.
A lot of DH users will run at you to try and bait you to swing. Others will do it in response to lunges. If you get that tiny bit closer so you can do a standard hit then it's very very hard to land the DH. I do it all the time. Made someone ragequit the other day because of it.
They teabagged after a vault. Tried to flashblind after predropping a pallet into my lightborn. Then they were trapped on open ground. And I KNEW somehow they'd be running DH. Got right up behind them waiting 1 second and sure enough. *dab* *slash* *scream* *single nod* *winks out of existence* ๐คฃ

"Not much to look forward to if you aren't a PC Blight or Nurse player!"
That was the line I was referencing.
Also, the OP is complaining that low-tier Killers can't compete against good teams without being carried by perks. Doesn't that mean the perks were way too strong if they were compensating for poor Killer balancing? Shouldn't we nerf those perks and take a look at those Killers instead?
This is a good point is freddy or twins can 4k a good team with a set of perks. Then decent nurses and blights have an I win button.
As for OP these regression perks do need a balance because they are insane. But tbh certain genrush perks/items/add ons etc that survs use should also be balanced a little. (Prove is FAR too strong imo)

Tunneling is only as easy as the survivors make it. The better the survivor, the harder it is to tunnel them.
There's only so much you can do if killer hard tunnels you straight off the hook. If they shadow you off the hook and wait out the basekit BT they can pretty much insta down. Even if they hit the deep wound straight away, it's very hard to shake a killer once you're wounded if they're determined to get you.
Unless you have god tier flashlight savers or bodyblockers there isn't much that most teams will be able to do about it.
