As killer i usuly kill 2/3 and let the last 1/2 go after double hooking them. Then i walk them to a hook, shake my head and point them to gens or hatch.
They usually seem grateful, and other xbox players I do this with generally have a nice convo afterwards.
As an xbox player I don't see egc and I'm better for it I think.

I'm personnally very curious about how a blighted Trickster would look like because blighted cosmetics usually exaggerate monster-like traits and, well, he's just a dude.
Same with wesker but his blight skin is pretty cool. And maybe on trickster it could look like uv paint or he could have loads of throwing knives melded into his skin or something

Give us blighted Demo boi pleeeease 😭🥺
Pipe dream I know but I'd love to see it.

Matchmaking is pretty broke. I
Especially if there are any backfills since they won't be mmr filtered. Not that mmr filtered matches are that accurate anyway. Usually mmr as killer is a little more stable tho, maybe you're a little rusty with demo? And your previous mmr is coming back to haunt you.
Props for not dodging though, when a killer dodges it messes up the mmr for that came so well done for not being part of the problem.

the title says it all.
for more context, i'm a survivor main, but mainly only because of this reason: i'm scared to ######### up as a killer more than as a survivor...why? most of the time, it's those bully-swfs that make me feel like this the most. the feeling of disappointment after losing is just...real. how do i stop feeling like this? don't get me wrong, i actually enjoy playing the role of a killer but it's always the survivors that "scare" me most of the time.
Tbh i know a lot of players who are reluctant to play killer. It can be intimidating to go against 4 other players with no help.

DEMOGORGON
Demo is the reason I tried out dbd in the first place. The idea of playing as a supernatural creature and hunting down survivors really appealed.
A year after starting he is still hands down my killer main. One of the most well balanced killers in the game imo. Requires skill tonuse well and can really sing. Love running jumpscare builds with him, nothing quite like launching yourself out of the bushes to shred an unsuspecting surv 🤣
I just wish he'd come back soni could buy cosmetics for him

it's not about the singular kill, it's more about the problems the existence of hatch bears.
do you like teammates that won't show up ever to take aggro so people get "tunnelled" out? or you like that one survivor that suddenly decides match is lost and starts doing nothing when all 4 survivors are still alive? or people that load in with the sole intention of griefing the match with a key, a basement offering, sole survivor and wake up, doing a stupid escape streak? or the infamous "slug for the 4k"ers you get every other match?
yes if hatch didn't exist those won't happen ever again, because their best bet is to contribute and progress the match to escape, and not hide and play selfish in a TEAM game.
Instead it gets replaced by people DCing or unaliving themselves on hook the second it looks like gens won't get done, because there's no other option to get out.
Yh sure you get goons who just play for hatch but in my experience they are pretty rare. I can deal with the odd hatch players against how intolerable the survivor experience would be without hatch

That's only 1 potential option, there are/were others.
Advantage =/= guaranteed.
Killers probably should have the advantage considering the survivors failed their objective and the killer succeeded in theirs.
Killer does have the advantage tho. When it goes to hatch it's generally easier for killer to find. Unless the surv is explicitly running hatch aura perks.

Ok that's fine.
The original question was was it fair, and no it's not since it only favors one side and killers have no equal. My main point was that and that's the stance I was defending.
That doesn't mean it needs to be changed. I think it can be improved or a better system can be put in its place, but I also don't think that necessarily needs to happen. I would prefer if it did but that's about it. I'm fine if it doesn't.
I think some of those aspects got lost in the mess.
But killers have the advantage. I don't think it's fair for a guarenteed 4k every time gens don't get finished.

dms requires hooks. it also only lasts 30 seconds from hook. it is not like doctor is very mobile as a killer, so by the time he starts next chase, the gen-blocking is probably already over.
Coulraphobia+sloppy makes healing virtually impossible, add unnerving presence and it becomes literally impossible.
it is like playing vs tuft of hair myer's. your 1 hit for entire game after you use your first health-state. it is also not impossible to heal if you have autodidact or run we'll make it. it takes 20 second for we'll make it to heal you and autodidact takes like... maybe 8 seconds depending on skill-check RNG on autodidact 5.
Like I run the no healing build on gideons with bbq or spies or some other perk to find survs. and it's ridiculous, 1/2 gens get finished at most, dread to think what it'd be like if you could run that build on every map with the same result.
Doctor's shock therapy anti-loop is pretty strong in gideon's. I am not denying that the build is not strong but it is far from unbeatable. 1-2 gens is survivor skill issue with gen progression and ineffective looping of his power.
You're missing the point. Dms slows down gens. I'm not saying it gives auto hits but it buys doctor a lot of time. And at least meyers needs to stalk for long periods of time to build up to permanent exposed.
And you're arguing minutiae, sure you can run healing perks and there are other counters to the build. But survs don't know what killer they are getting. You can't have killers that are broken OP unless at least 2 survs bring very specific builds that are pretty useless in most matches. . Next to nobody runs autodidact or we'll make it. I'm not even sure how well autodidact would work, i haven't seen how the no heal skillcheck doctor build would work against it.
A mapwide terror radius is insanely broken. It would be too mechanically strong for most teams to deal with. Bearing in mind that most of the surv players in the game aren't seal team 6 level swfs. It breaks a lot of perks and permanently messes with one of the most basic basekit things a survivor has for tracking the killer.
-
@MrPenguin said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3539324#Comment_3539324
And which of those are basekit mechanics in every match that stop the last survivor from leaving when the 3rd escapes with no input from the killer to let them attempt a 1K? None.
For example a basekit Bloodwarden that activates for the last survivor once the other 3 escape would be comparable. But we don't have that.
3 survivors die? Here's hatch, here's powered gates if you lose hatch game as well.
3 survivors escape? Killer gets nothing.
It's annoying to lose a survivor to hatch. But on the survivor side the killer literally doesn't have a comparable system for you to be annoyed at to begin with.
It's far easier to get kills as killer than to escape as a survivor. Killers don't have a basekit equivalent of hatch because they simply don't need it.
I play both roles pretty equally and killer is easier by far. A 0k game is very rare for me as killer because if i know gens are going to get done I can usually focus one person out and occasionally secure an extra kill or two from ill advised attempts to save the surv I've picked. And I can tolerate the odd 0k game.
As for survivor I die in most of my games. Probably 60-70% which is a lot. Without hatch it would be much higher. And I probably wouldn't bother playing survivor at all.
It comes across in the way i play. As killer i usually deliberately release 1 or 2 survivors in a game i do well in. As surv i think i have taken pity on a killer once or twice and allowed to hook me so they can have a kill when it would have been a 0k. Survivals as surv mean a lot more to me than kills as killer.
You need 4 times as many surv players as killer players for dbd. So you need to make sure that people WANT to play surv. Making the experience too punishing would tank the game and make matchmaking a nightmare. Hatch is a good QoL machanic so survivors don't automatically just die everytime killer pressures gens right. At least there is an opportunity to escape. Its not even a guarantee so I don't see why people have an issue with it. Like it's so easy to counterplay hatch when you have 2 survs left alive
The only time a hatch escape irks me is when i need a 4k for an adept or challenge. Aside from that I couldn't care less as killer.
-
Because people very rarely play to lose. Sounds like you were just playing a baby nemisis who got a bit tilted and fell back on the good old facecamp tunnel routine. Like no killer wants to end the game with a 0k. I consider myself a pretty friendly killer, i tend to let at least 1 but more usually 2 survs go.
But it I'm doing badly and looking at a 0k I'd do exactly what this nemesis did. Nothing wrong with trying to win.
Of course you do get some players who simply want to troll by using the most broken combos AND being very toxic. That sucks.

I don't believe I ever said the killer is entitled to a 4K but if that's your angle then the survivor also isn't entitled to a 2nd and 3rd chance to escape just because they're the last one and they lost. Otherwise as I said the killer should also get an equal mechanic then for 1E, it's not entitled to ask for fairness. To suggest otherwise is ridiculous. Also, no matter how you try to defend your point that is what you’re saying.
Killers have plenty of ways to force a kill in the endgame if they've done bad. Namely: NOED, rancor, face camping, bloodwarden, NWO. As killer I find losing 1 surv to a hatch escape much less annoying than getting insta downed and facecamped to death by a NOED enjoyer.
-
@Butterbeeblack said:
Survivors can use the perk “left behind”, keys, and their much larger view to help them find and escape the hatch fairly easy. Killers seem to be at a disadvantage when it comes to hatch escapes because of their smaller POV, and no perk to help them find it, or keep it closed when they do. Is there room to level that playing field?
Tbh it's easier for killers to find. Pov doesn't really matter, I usually hear the hatch before I see it, killers can move faster and not worry about being caught en route. And tbh I would like to see survivors have an easier time getting hatch. Left behind and clairvoyance are perfectly fine.
A hatch escape is still a killer win, they've got 3 out of 4 survs. Not finishing gens should not be a death sentence for all survs in that round. People would be much quicker to DC/ragequit if that were the case. Just some killers get mad whenever they don't get a 4k.

oh no. doctor can pressure the team with his ability/perk synergy. that is too crazy. doctor already does that on gideon's. global tr just allows him to pressure team on every map. pressuring team must be an instant win for the killer.
I mean yeah that's how killers win. Having constant mapwide pressure is so stupid. Like imagine using DMS, you hook a surv then static blast a few secs after, everyone gets knocked off the gen, then locked out. You know exactly what gens are being worked and have incredible slowdown.
Coulraphobia+sloppy makes healing virtually impossible, add unnerving presence and it becomes literally impossible.
Doctor is a very mid killer but infinite TR on him would be broken and make for some absolute awful games. Idk why you're defending the idea.
Like I run the no healing build on gideons with bbq or spies or some other perk to find survs. and it's ridiculous, 1/2 gens get finished at most, dread to think what it'd be like if you could run that build on every map with the same result.

I don't think they can or should ban people for something that is a break on the devs side. It isn't like they've done something to their game client to get an advantage.
It's like the Blast Mine bug where you go out of body sometimes. Invisible and able to unhook and open gates. I didn't plan for it to happen but it was funny as hell.
They absolutely should. Anyone abusing the bug is choosing to break the game. And they should be treated like any other cheater.
Just because an exploit is there, doesn't mean people have the right to use it.
-
Egh. I love playing my main (jeff) finally got him to p100 last month. But I have noticed it causes a LOT of killers to dodge so a lot of my matches with him are all over the place. And I find I either get hard tunneled (I'm worse at chase than my p100 might suggest) or ignored completely in favour of tunneling out "easier" survivors. It's not fun and i often have to switch to lower prestige characters to have a normal game 😒
Prestige in lobby should be hidden. Survivors don't see killer's prestige, so no reason they should see survivor's prestige imo. It just messes with mmr and makes ppl play weird.
-
This glitch is doing my head in. I'm fed up of people cheating and holding games hostage like this. It is annoying for killers but also surv. Like I'm trying to play solo q but we're basically playing a man down because there's often someone abusing this glitch

Tbf on Starstruck, Doctor has no mobility so the getting exposed downs with Starstruck from further than 32m is not going to happen.
Sure but it'd certainly dissuade people from going for hook saves. Especially if you can't tell if he's proxy camping with the TR. Last thing we need is a build that helps hook campers.
-
@CS1_6 said:
I don't really understand his power. He's here to spread terror and hallucinations but you have to invest an entire build to at least increase his terror radius which sucks bad and you can only reach so far until I reach the limit. If they want to play stealth doctor then they could change his addons or use oblivious/undetectable perks?
My first thought playing against doctor as dwight was whenever I get close to doctor, my madness would passively increase but I soon came to realize that wasn't true. Another weird thing is his fake doctors never move. Why is that?
Anyway I hope someone could explain all this to me.
Because map wide terror radius is insane. Coulraphobia + sloppy butcher + unnerving presence would make it literally impossible to heal.
Because hitting every surv with static blast everytime you fire it would be broken.
Because it would make the terror radius useless for survivors and tbh hearing a heartbeat all match would just be irritating.
Overwhelming presence would rinse all survivors items all game.
Starstruck would expose everyone on the map when you pick up. Add bbq and you can just chain easy downs so quickly.
Quite simply it would break so many TR based perks as well as messing hugely with a basic game mechanic. It would just make doctor so unfun to play against. Like way worse than nurse.

This is the second time that I have reported players who worked together. Every time one survivor working with the killer. Each time it was clearly visible in the video how the respective survivors worked together with the killers and were allowed to escape as a reward.
In both cases, neither the survivor nor the killer was banned. All four people involved in this cases continued to collect reps or playtime on their Steam profiles after the ticket was processed by support. Also no player repord feedback was showen up.
So now my serious question. Is the collaboration between survivors (showing the location of the other survivors, body blocking them for the killer etc. for an save exit) even bannable? I ask because neither the EULA nor the TOS list this as a reason for a ban. Only the one support document lists this behavior as bannable but this is not part of the EULA or TOS. Can someone clarify?
I doubt players are going to get insta banned on the first report.
It's a hard one to prove and I think it's a common accusation. I've had a few salty players threaten me with this after a game when I've done nothing of the sort.
One where I released 2 survs after killing them and one the other day where I was apparently working with killer when I played surv. Because yeah, i was clearly working with that blight who face camped me and was hitting me on hook 🤣 some people are unhinged.
I'd rather bhvr waited to see a pattern of behaviour rather than knee jerk ban people everytime they get reported
I'm pretty sure it is against the rules though, it is specifically mentioned in the report tab under griefing.
-
It's mainly about learning to use the tail as far as I can tell. I haven't brought him to play killer yet, but playing against him as surv?
It's hard to counterplay, it doesn't telegraph like slinger or huntress, which makes it hard to dodge. My best bets for dodging are usually faking out doorways, vaults and greeding pallets. But reactively dodging it feels impossible.
Again take this with a pinch of salt because I haven't played him yet. But I reckon he'd do well with moniter and abuse. Decreased TR while crawling could cause him to surprise ppl.

Honestly, for me it is the opposite. Ever since Grades were introduced I was never Iri 1 on either side because I just dont care enough. For what? Nobody sees it, it has 0 purpose for Matchmaking and all I get is BPs at the 13th each month. Before that I was Rank 1 every month, simply because it meant something. (And back then when Rank Reset set you back to Rank 10 or 11 it actually meant something and you had good matches for the first ~3 weeks after Rank Reset)
But now with grades, I really dont care about reaching Iri 1.
I'm the same, when I started dbd last august, the first few months I proper sweated my grades. But it wasn't a pleasant experience, I was working so hard in matches and especially as killer I was using every dirty trick and stressing to secure those 4ks to get my pips. After hitting iri 1 for both roles in a month I figured best just to stop caring about rank and just play for fun. Enjoy the game much more for it.
But there are a lot more ppl who do care about getting their grade every month and will play hard to get it. Just wish we had a casual playlist to wind down a little.

To all those saying the game is toxic, it isn't. Take a look around no matter what game, forum you are on people will be toxic so why are we blaming a game? People are, look at twitter, twitch etc, people on live stream, people just wanting to have fun. People are such, not the games we play, back in my day and shurrup I am old! we didn't have this kind of crap! heck my demos came from a cd of a playstation magazine lol. No matter what, where no matter a game, a site, a youtube, a what ever, people bring the toxic, not games, not anything and sadly DBD is a game which is divided in many ways and we all will never agree on something we find we believe in.
Yup totally agree.
Players choose to be ######### and it turns into a vicious cycle. Killer main gets bullied by sweaty toxic survivor squads, so decides to take out their frustration on the next surv team they get the upper hand against. Those survs then torch click and teabag against the next killer they beat, rinse and repeat ad nauseum.
Best way is to be the change you want to see in the game. As killer I make a point of letting at least 2 survs go unless they've been particularly toxic to me or their own team. And as surv I'll never teabag or torch click at a killer. And always send ggs to ppl after a match. And don't kneejerk respond to toxicity. Usually even when ppl start off toxic messaging me i can often talk them round.
I think a lot of players are also too sensitive, just because a surv runs a good chase or a killer tunneled you doesn't mean they're toxic.
-
Bloodpoints.
That's literally it.
Not a fan of it myself, just encourages players to sweat hard and has no other benefits.

I haven't had a terrible time against xeno.
I've escaped like 60-70% of my matches against him. Idk if my mmr has just been throwing me weaker killer players recently or something but xeno just doesn't seem that scary to me.
Best bet with turrets is set them up around high walls so xeno has less chance to spot them. In chase it's breaking LOS.
But on this one I think I'm just getting lucky and getting weak players. I've noticed the ones I have been winning against are stumbling into avoidable flame turrets and missing a lot of tail whips.
On paper xeno is insane, hardly any cool down on the tail shot, still being able to M1 while crawling, decreased terror radius. It feels too strong.
Like imagine if nemesis had an unholy baby with demogorgon that took all the best parts of both and none of the weaknesses. You have the extended range attack with basically no set up (nemsis needs to infect and has more of a telegaraph to his tentacle, demo telegraphs shred pretty hard) as far as I can tell there isn't much of an animation in the wind up for a tail whip which makes it hard to dodge sure xeno has a cool down on crawler mode but the only way to deactivate it is with turrets, and a xeno getting hit by a turret is a serious skill issue, there are so many turret nerf addons and since xeno can one hit those turrets they are practically a non issue. you have portals to every gen already set up, you have decreased TR whenever your ranged attack is ready (honestly surprised I haven't seen more xenos using moniter and abuse yet) and to top it off you have pretty good tracking as well.
Tldr: long range attack as built in anti loop/strong chase mechanic, budget stealth, watered down counter mechanic, great traversal and good survivor tracking. Alien strong, once xeno players get the hang of hitting tail whip and sussing out turrets it's going to be miserable to play against.
-
@BillToLast said:
I see many people with a severe case of skill issue complaining about this perk and asking for a nerf.
You can easily counter it by either running Calm Spirit (which is now thankfully a more viable perk) or simply moving in an unpredictalbe direction the moment your position is given away.
Imagine people using that over spies from the shadows 🤣 it just has more steps.
-
I'm torn between demo and slinger.
Demo is my main and he's just such an awesome truly inhuman scary monster, unique and his screeches are so recognisable and scary in a very primal sense. Like the whole being stalked and hunted by an eldritch alien monster is such a cool horror thing.
Slinger has such a cool backstory, cool aesthetic, cowboy hat duster coat. love the chase music and the whole spear and drag is so satisfying and horrifying. Plus his sadistic little chuckle when he makes a hit.
2 very cool killers with very different appeals

but we are getting an FOV slider, sometime soon. there should be more graphic settings to make the game look brighter/less darker, so people really shouldn't call using filters cheating.
i can name you plenty of casual people i watch/play with that use filters to compensate for how dark the game looks - it doesn't give anyone superpowers.
If they add it as a proper i game option fair enough
And I'm not saying it's superpowers like blatant hacking style cheating, but it still confers an advantage over players who can't change brightness i.e. console players. You can't say brightening up dark maps like dead dawg and backwater swamp doesn't make it so much easier to spot players trying to hide on those maps.
-
Idk I get on quite well with clown. And he has some very interesting addon builds. One I've been messing around with a lot recently is the invigoration aura read one. aura rea

cope
having a brighter game doesnt make you suddenly better at looping.
the whole complaint about filters is literally just bad players looking for something to blame
Lol talk about deflection, I wasn't talking about looping I was talking about finding survivors.
The game doesn't have a brightness or an FoV slider, for a reason. We have perks that explicitly affect FoV, and offerings that used to affect light level. They aren't supposed to be modified by players, particularly not with outside tools, which is exactly what you were describing.
The killer's perspective and what they can see is controlled so that no one gets an unfair advantage. And I guess to a lesser extent survivors for spotting stealth killers like ghostface.
I don't have trouble finding survs or hiding from killers. But I recognise an unfair advantage when I hear one. Sounds like you're perhaps the one who needs to cope if you gotta crank the gamma up because the dark "annoys" you.
-
It's just a fun, unique game. As many games as I see with toxic killers as surv and the odd game where I'm killer and get rofl stomped, most of my games tend to be fun. And i have a few friends who still play it that are a good laugh.
-
It worked fine for me, but it's a janky mechanic, perhaps the chase is dropping for a second after dropping the pod and before you manage the mark?
Tbh best way to guarentee getting it is just have a farming game. Make friends with survs and then you can farm it easily ennough.
-
Ehhh idk. Want to see how xenomorph players get on. Before I drop any money on it. And I'm not hugely interested in Ripley's perks
-
Gameplay wise and flavour wise I prefer wesker, both to play as and against.
He's a little different as a killer, it's kinda cool to see an almost human killer who's simply an intelligent, evil, conniving piece of ######### as opposed to another malformed boogeyman.
Mechanically I feel he's more interesting and balanced as well. I'm not a fan of pyramid head's ability to hit through walls or his disappointing basekit mori. Plus torment should be easier to cleanse and inflict.

This.
Man I wish there weren't "mains" just players. Perhaps we can start there.
Amen to that. I play both sides equally and I feel it improves my game in both roles, and gives me a good idea of both points of view. A lot of players seem to lack that, usually when I get salty messages off an xbox survivor players, when I check their stats they have very few kills as killer.
-
Lol thought this was going to be a push against surv vs killer arguing.
Much as the devs don't want it to, tcm is going to be compared with dbd, a lot, because they are effectively so similar
It doesn't need to be done aggressively or with arguments, but unfortunately, when gamers are involved it pretty much always is.

Hello. I could use some advice, I guess. I started playing this game around the time Silent hill chapter was released cause I'm a silent hill fan. I have 1200 hours basically playing DBD off,and on since then. About 90% of those hours has been spent playing survivor. I'm trying to get more into playing killer now.
So I don't really have a main killer yet,but I have fun playing huntress. I just like throwing hatchets at people. I don't consider her my main cause she slow, and is bad on a lot of maps. So today I wanted to get practice in with her,but I loaded up on red forest map, a map I find very hard to play her on,so I like mentally checked out of that match, and was just like screw gens in gonna practice throwing hatchets. I don't consider myself very good with her. I missed a lot of hatchet throws, and after the gens were done I had someone on the hook, and the rest of the team came to try and save them. We went back and forth. I ended up with 2 kills at the end. I was called a camper, and I was like you mean after all the gens were done yeah what else would you like me to do. I'm suppose to camp at that point in the match. Then they said I sucked at huntress missed all my shots. So my question is do you still play killers you suck with? It's not my first time playing huntress I just normally swap to her every so often between survivor matches to have fun. I don't like being called I suck. I know I'm not the best, but should I just give up on her,and find a different killer? What do you guys think?
My best advice is just stop caring about doing well, if you enjoy the killer it's all good. And defo ignore survs after a match, they will be salty af a lot of the time. Usually been tunneled or had a toxic killer beforehand.
I personally am bloody awful with huntress, and avoid play her because I don't enjoy her playstyle. But tbh any killer you like playing, you'll get good with in time, it's always going to be shaky when you're relatively new to killer, but after a while it just clicks. Just keep plugging away at it and the improvement will come..

Nearly got that diamond prestige symbol. Hang in there 💪

they would have my admiration if they escaped all their perkless matches

Congrats. I got mine during the anniversary and suddenly became a Vittorio main soon after.
For the memes I like to have out my P100 and then switch to P0 Scoops Steve at the last second for my own lol
🤣 better than the other way around lol. I'd imagine ppl get mad when someone hotswaps to a p100 at the last second lol

I was facecamped 2x doing it.
1 team knew to do the 2x Healthy surv -> 1 hit -> 1 rescue tactic.
I've had teams that can't get me off hook with 3 healthy people....Solo Queue nightmares, haha
You'll get it, though - I AM ROOTING FOR YOU >:3
I did it. Lol got 2 in 5 games. Then had a game against a ghostface where I got 4 separate sabo saves 😂 i was such a menace

Ugh I'm doing that atm. I always get mad tunneled the second I try to do a sabo.
Killwrs do not like getting sabo played.
