  • The patch notes alone say enough of their opinion of killer players.

They don't give two shits about killers enjoyment or play.

  • But it's not fun for survivors when killers have a functioning sound.

    So they won't :D

  • @Fibijean said:

I've just played half a dozen PTB games, some using Ruin, some against a killer using Ruin, and I can assure you totem placement is not the issue. Survivors don't even bother searching for the totem, because the effect it has is that tiny, even in the late game.

Almost like what everyone has been saying lol

I've played it a bit on both sides.

It's honestly a detriment to run because it's taking the slot of something that could be actually useful.

Like literally any other hex perk.

  • @Simply_Ghostface said:

Dont be a potatoes and apply pressure to gens and you'll be fine. I've noticed that most people have been ignoring hex but imo new Ruin shouldve just been a regular perk than a Hex. This is still gonna pop early game if survivors are good.

Tell me how, as trapper I am supposed to set up, and then make my way across the map before two gens pop.

At this point even with ruin, as a killer I have to accept unless I get potato's I'm losing 3 gens off the bat for not playing a high mobility killer.

  • Get ######### because they aern't survivors.

Which is basically what this patch was announcing.

  • I've already burnt through about 60 of them and still have over a hundred to go :)

  • Because the dev's are suvivors or at the very least heavily heavily survivor sided.

Notice the doc notes, literally all it sounds like it's coming from a smug survivor.

"It feels frustrating this, it feels frustrating that."

How about how frustrating it feels for the killers?

I wasn't impressed by the leaked notes either, believe me.

But we should also remember that, although the source may have proved reliable in the past, those patch notes are not officially confirmed, and so until the official version is released we can't really blame the developers for something someone else posted.

If that stuff is in the official patch notes when they release, then that's an opportunity to start asking questions and offering feedback or complaints. But let's not count our Doctors before they've hatched 😋

I want to give them the benefit of the doubt.

But between the almost smug attitude of the devs on the forums and like the general just experience I have from playing this from the get-go.

    I just can't.

They don't generally responded to leaks false or true.

MoM was a classic example as that was talked about for a while before they discussed it with the players.

Sometimes The community managers don't have all the information at hand and they also need internally discuss the matter to fully understand why and if a change is being made before commenting here on it so they can answer everyone's questions properly.

You are right to a point and I can understand that, but Dev's are commenting on Ruin and doc and even made a thread about it.

If it was just perks or nerfs I'd totally understand, this however is largely being viewed as them trying to be lazy and giving up on rank all together.

    Which is seriously bad PR.

Once the patch notes are released, I would love nothing more than to see a post like that released. Open communication is always a net good, in my opinion.

And that is dbd's arguably largest problem.

They near refuse to communicate until they are all but forced to.

I imagine there would be way less of a outrage if they had simply said something about changing ruin and tossing some idea's out then waiting for responses from the community then being like "Well this is what we feel like trying."

Not just dropping it on us all with what reads like a smug survivor main telling killers that they don't care about how they feel when playing.

  • @Fibijean said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/975316#Comment_975316

It will be either confirmed or denied as soon as they release the patch notes anyway, which will be very soon now, so they might as well work on that instead of going around addressing threads individually that are about to be addressed en masse. Afterwards, perhaps we'll get some more information regarding the motivation behind the changes.

They already made one giant post about the hex changes and trying to explain themselves, I fail to see why they can't do the same about something like this which again, is causing a large part of the games playerbase to question their moral integrity.

  • @Fibijean said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/975248#Comment_975248

Because they are always silent on "leaked" information, whether it's true or not. (See the frenzy over the potential for an "IT" chapter a couple of months ago as an example of the latter.)

The most they'll say is "this isn't official information, we never said this, so don't draw any conclusions from it".

See, normally I'd agree, but this is something pretty damn big to the point the general consensus I've seen is that this is nothing but a scummy lazy move from them, something that is actively besmirching their name, it would be without a doubt better to confirm or deny this at it's head because if it's true then they can try and explain themselves now.

If it's not then they can simply say.

"We aren't lazy and trying to sweep a massive issue under the rug."

  • @Fibijean said:

It's definitely concerning, if it's true. We don't actually know yet that they are doing that, because it hasn't been officially confirmed yet. While it may be likely, it's best to wait until the patch notes are released so that we can give feedback on something the devs have actually done, instead of something someone else said they might be doing.

Why would they be radio silent if it wasn't true? It's been circulating in the forums for a few hours now and the devs have not been silent on forums pertaining to Doc or ruin.

And yet, they are mysteriously silent on forums that are asking about that.

Then you need a killer buff, not a Perk to rely on. I love playing Trapper and I understand where you’re coming from. I don’t even have Ruin on all my Killers, Trapper included, this means I have to improvise. There are add-ons that help give more traps, etc.

The game is very RNG anyways, so if you just had bad placement it’s not anyones fault. It seems you relied on or allowed Ruin to carry you a lot and that’s why this is having so much weight put back on you.

I don't think you read that right.

I clearly stated I have zero issue winning, be it by pip or 4k. What this change means is I have Even less time to do vital things as trapper.

WOuld I love a trapper buff, Hell yes, just give him all his traps at start bam done.

But the issue is rather that I am now all but forced to play as optimally as I can and sweat as much as I can which I frankly don't enjoy, rather now I'm forced to play in a much meaner play style, slugging, tunneling, ect if I want a chance to 4k or pip.

And honestly, I don't even care at this point. I've been playing since like the first month it released and frankly I'm tired of trying to let the otherside have fun to. Especially when I get stuff like "GG pos" when I give people hatch.

Or getting talked down to because I play to win but I tried to play to what I aspired to be fair, I.e no mori's, not tunneling, not slugging.

Now I can't. The devs punch me in the proverbial mouth, and then act smug about it.

I'm done playing nice at this point, it's clear that the dev's and survivors don't want to play nice or entertain the thought so why should I?

Please assume I need to be carried by ruin tho

  • @ProfessorDunwich said:

I think lots of people will take a break from killer, perhaps permanent. You'll know when you are sitting in a lobby and one of your friends recommends playing something else because you have been waiting for a game for 20 minutes.

Far as a rather large server I'm in which is focused around playing dbd, a large chunk of the killers are already quitting from the general tone and clear message of this update.

30-40 by my last count, and most of them seem serious.

Some of them are even going to try out LoL.

  • So the massive issue with it is, I am a rank 1 trapper main.

Ruin was core to me because of setup time, ESPECIALLY when I didn't have bag or speed addon's.

For me ruin idealy lasted at least 45-80 seconds because in that time I could set up a decent perimeter and then at the very minimum get into a chase.

Perks like corrupt intervention aern't bad but the do something that greatly screws with trapper early game and that is bringing survivors closer to your fledgling perimeter.

Which at high ranks, means either not setting as many traps and becoming an M1 who can occasionally deny extra loops, or risk having them see me set up and then coming behind me and setting all my traps off, Arguably the worst case scenario.

So now I am left with the option of effectively lose 3 gens and hope that I spawned on the side with a good 3 gen or have to play as mean as possible.

I never needed ruin to win, I can play just fine without it, the thing is, it bought me enough time usually to not have to sweat and try to enjoy myself.

New ruin flat out denys me this chance and now I have to play as mean as possible if I want to play trapper.

  • @Peanits said:

I'd hesitate to call the Doctor and Lery's updates nerfs, especially given you haven't had a chance to play them first. I would say give it a try once the PTB is live. That's the point of a PTB, after all.

As a killer with near 2k hours in game.

I hesitate to call them anything but nerfs on the terms of Doc.

His power is now effectively useless as anything but a portable sonar.

I doubt you care much though as gotta keep them precious survivors enjoying the game and not as, how did the patch notes go?

    "Not frustrated?"

Despite killers being constantly frustrated by so so much in the game.

Eeehm, nah. Nurse is still the strongest. No other killer ends chases as fast as her, and as of now, that the sounds are bugged (At least hopefully they're bugged) shes definetly not stronger than Nurse.

    Ehh, agree to disagree M8.

With sounds screwed, yeah she is definitely weaker.

But from a basekit and the fabled state of no sound bugs.

I and more than a few people who make their living off dbd tend to say Spirit is strongest.

  • @Helevetin_nopee said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/974700#Comment_974700

Statistics have literally nothing to do with a killer being viable. Nurse is the strongest killer, arguably also the hardest one to play, especially after the rework.

I would argue heavily against that.

Nurse has some degree of counterplay that isn't guesswork.

Spirit is a 50/50 guess if she is phasing or not.

Then another 50/50 guess if she is phasing or not.

I think this is the breaking point

    Breaking point is right.

There is trying to fix things and I can understand how bad ruin is at high ranks.

But ffs High ranks is where you are supposed to learn #########.

If it was a high rank crutch why did 80% of the ######### playerbase run it.

The real tipping point for me is how ######### smug the devs seem to be about all this.

They are ######### pleased they torched their game.

  • @NMCKE said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/972887#Comment_972887

That's probably because we are getting second objectives soon. 😁

I predicted Dedicated Servers 2 years ago, on December, and was 100% spot on.

I will believe it when I see it, because frankly that would help killers out far to much to ever be implemented.

  • The devs are genuinely worse at balancing than Riot.

    Which is ######### saying something.

  • @Fibijean said:

Player feedback isn't the be-all-and-end-all of balancing decisions. They've made changes in the past that players were opposed to because they believed it was the best thing for the game. Sometimes they have turned out well, sometimes less so.

I expect, if you're looking for a genuine answer, that what they'll do if everyone is still unhappy about it is take the feedback back to the designers and have a discussion about it, revisit the changes and see if anything could use some adjustment. That doesn't mean the changes won't go live, but there might be some tweaks to them before they do. They could also decide not to push the changes through - it's happened in the past with the PTB.

Point is, there is no guarantee of whether the changes will go live regardless of how the players feel about them because complaints are not all that is taken into account when it comes to balance. The only guarantee we have is that they will read the feedback and take it into serious consideration before they release the live patch.

It feels more like they just don't give a ######### about the side that it negatively effects.

The post itself was clearly survivor sided.

Looking at a few of the devs chatting in the forums it's clear that they either don't know jack ######### about the game or are just giving lip service.

"The new hex ruin will be really strong at late game."

You mean that stage that no hex ever gets to short of the killer throwing to protect it or getting godly RNG and protecting it.

Hex haunted ground doesn't make it to late game.

  • @beatddb said:

His "zap" doesn't works in a chase anymore, according to the notes, and this is intended: "The idea behind the design of Static Blast is to make it powerful as a location tool, but very difficult to use while in a chase, hence the limitations on its use." -Notes

At least Clown has his bottles.

I believe if the teir list is anything to go by, Killers that can use their powers to end chases faster or shorten chases are the strongest.

So this literally makes him an M1 who's power is more situational than trappers.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

We'll see how he plays, but when they say "pause after shock", I'm guessing it will be equivalent to the old mode switching, aka very niche uses at loops unless survivors play it incorrectly. Like I said, we'll see, but their wording scares me.

With the new fasion, you will have .5 seconds to swing at the survivor, but you will also have to contend with Dedicated servers so ######### you anyway.

  • @NoShinyPony said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/117628/why-change-ruin-without-fixing-the-problem-it-addresses

I'm pretty sure the devs know. The Ruin nerf is simply a change to make survivor players - the major part of the playerbase - happy.

Because ######### the half of the playerbase that also has to take part in the game?

Right, who needs killers who want to have fun?

Naaah, ######### em, they are just killers, they will take this sitting down because they have with literally everything else.

  • @Nikotiini said:

It does feel like they're slowly running out of ideas, but to be honest, the playerbase is currently at it's highest. I don't think Dead by Daylight's gonna die. At least not for a few years (unless BHVR does something stupid)

YOu mean like what they are doing right now by alienating 80% of the highest skill cap playerbase?

  • What the ######### do the dev's care?

They have if not outright announced that they don't give two shits about killers because survivors and new players can be fleeced for more money.

  • @Helevetin_nopee said:

Nurse is still the strongest killer...

You don't play much spirit do you?

Or looked at the last graphs.

Nurse is slowly spiraling into mid teir.

i wont uninstall it just in hope that they will change their mind, but surely will stop play and purchase stuff if the game will be so user friendly

HEre is the thing, I don't know how long you've been playing. But me and a lot of these people have been playing since the start, and a good portion of us are getting tired of getting punched in the mouth for being a killer main then getting told to deal with it.

  • @Almo said:

We expected outrage when doing a fundamental change to a perk used in such a large percentage of games. However, after playing with the new version, we're much happier with how it functions in the game as part of the whole system.

I'm glad you survivors are pleased with the new state in the game.

Absolutely thrilled to know you enjoy telling killer mains to get ######### and deal with it.

So are you going to do anything about gen times?

Or the fact 2/3's of your map are god awful?

It's absolutely riveting and titillating to hear you don't give a ######### about a large portion of your player base or the enjoyment they get out of being able to ACTUALLY play the game.

How about fixing basic bugs that have been around since dedicated servers that constantly rob killers of things like grabs?

How about fixing the sound bug thats been going on for what? Two months, almost three?

I'm ######### over the moon that you are happy that you are killing your games veteran player base in the name of trying to attract new people that will then get the same treatment.

  • @ppo8820 said:

No. All these people whining and throwing tantrums on this forum show people are still passionate about the game. They all say they’re leaving and boo boo, but they won’t. Simple fact is this is only game out right now of it’s kind, so angry as it makes people, they’ll still play it. The steam charts show game is actually growing last few months.

The games changing to incorporate all the new players.

I can personally attest to at least 50 people already uninstalling, and as soon as I run out of ebony mori's I'm doing the same.

  • Oh yeah, please put in a disconnect system in a bug that aspires to be a game.

Look, real talk, if survivors don't want to be in a game they are just gonna suicide on hook.

So either your aiming this at killers, which would be unsurprising tbh, or you fail to understand just how jank this game is.

  • @supersonic853 said:

Just quiting is boring ruining survivors fun as much as possible is better slug noed moris and camping. If devs have problems with survivors not having fun we just make it even worse. I cant wait to slug someone then when they are about to bleedout i mori them while tbagging their corpse as ghostface. (Im obviously joking but ive seen a lot of other killers saying stuff like this)

I'm not going that far, I'm mori'ing every mother ######### I come across. But this is almost systematic? Making them have the least amount of fun in as short of time frame I can.

Usually slugging then mori'ing them one by one.

    Here is the thing though.

Survivors have been outright hostile for ages toward killers and most killers I know try to be chill and just let it roll.

Both sides have bad eggs but survivors simply by nature of how many have more.

A lot of Killers I know are just done playing nice after this.

It seems that's what the dev's intend anyway.

Ruin wasn't something I needed to win, it was something that allowed me to be nice.

Most people I've talk to kinda view this nerf to ruin as outright hostility from the devs as killer mains.

We have been told to sit down shut the ######### up and git gud every time one of the killers gets gutted.

Freddy, his original which wasn't even strong didn't last a ######### week.

Huntress with all the god awful map designs.

Legion. God. Poor ######### legion mains.

    Nurse.

Oni, Less than a week and he was ######### slaughtered on the table of "We need to make it fun for survivors, who gives a ######### about killers."

And now Doc? Doc wasn't even good but your ######### neutering him in the same patch you are tossing the corpse of ruin into a shallow grave.

It's a wonder killers are pissed and starting to only try and have fun, everyone elses be damned.

  • @liarcy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/974365#Comment_974365

I agree with your points on how they hide matchmaking to not show how bad it is and how bad the doc rework is , it straight up nerfed him

and I also respect the fact that you feel that the devs are biased , I can see where you are coming from , but I still think that the ruin change will lead to better changes in the future

Here is the thing, I would be fine with a Hex:ruin nerf. If it came at the right time.

But it's not. It's coming at a time when gens go faster than they arguably ever have before, and it's with no mention of trying to aid that.

I don't need ruin to win, I need ruin to play nice.

Because the 30's it saves me at in R1 games can be the deciding factor of having to sweat my ass off or play nice.

But there isn't any changes for times.

There isn't any changes for maps which have infinites or are way to big.

There are only nerfs aimed at killers, so it's hard not to feel like you've been lined up at the firing range.

A nerf like this should have come with a massive overhaul to gen times or map.

    But it didn't.

It came with a slap in the face that was the doc rework then getting told to deal with it.

And this comes after a long list of slaps to the face.

Oni getting gutted of what made him fun after a week. One ######### week to gut the killer because survivors wouldn't figure out how to adapt like killers are CONSTANTLY told to do.

And here is the kicker, ######### like this, things that make playing killer absolutely miserable.

It takes months, in Freddys case a year and some change, to do ######### anything for QOL changes for killers.

You can see why at this point it feels like outright hostility from the devs despite whatever they say.

    Look at what Almo said.

"New Ruin is extremely powerful late game. It must be a Hex Perk, or it would be OP as hell."

What kind of ######### is that?

Hex: Haunted Ground doesn't last till late game!

So what the ######### is the point of a perk that is only good late game, that gets destroyed before late game?

  • @theArashi said:

    I'm rank 1 so I'm already a goner.

I have tried few games yesterday against random survivors. 2 games were against good survivors and one against mediocre/bad ones.

Good survivors have too much power with the current map design.

One game with good survivors had many good loops and survivors could hold M1 by the gens so 5 minute game with 2 kills in the end game.

One game lasted long time against good survivors because map randomness allowed it to not grant survivors amazing loops and huge fields to run around in and I got 4 kills.

One game against bad survivors and they finished only 2 gens before dying on amazing map for them.

It's maps that need balancing and not the ######### ruin. GG devs

Shhh' you can't be saying stuff that is common sense and correct.

I don't need Ruin to win, I like having breathing room as a killer so I don't have to sweat my ass off and can try to make the game fun.

You are correct and I agree with you. But behavior apparently doesn't think the same. Survivors control the game now and not the killer, the opposite how it should be.

Eyup, because why should murderous monsters that put people on meathooks be scary.

Everyone knows they should just be glorified babysitters.

I get that the devs are very slow in their balance but can we please stop calling them survivor sided it just doesn’t make sense. Also stop bringing up the fact that they fixed the basement bug in a week as a way of how biased they are , it was literally game breaking more than other bugs , even a week was too long for this kind of bug to stay .

I've been playing from the start and I'd say it's probably the third worst.

Infinite SB was the worst, good luck catching any survivor that can wait 15 seconds then SB away.

That took three ######### months to fix.

This Doc rework, it's garbage, they are literally taking one of the lowest ranking killers, and taking his power from him, something that was situational and hard to do right anyway, and basically turning it into what amounts to a once per survivor detection perk.

This patch alone shows that they are incredibly survivor biased.

Red ranked killers that aren't spirit or billy are screwed now.

Matchmaking is being covered up so they don't have to actually fix it, which oddly enough favors survivors more than killers.

Ruin is being basically Crl+Alt+del 'ed from the game for all it's use is going to be.

Every time a killer gets a massive bug that survivors can abuse we have to wait months for it to be fixed.

But survivors get bugs that mildly annoy them and it's fixed in a week or two tops.
