  • Yes if it’s cool, I’ll absolutely put down my medkit for a Smokebomb. Rah rah like a dungeon dragon. I wonder what the addons will be.

  • The amount of survivors that either don’t understand or don’t care that the bar fills slower when they are also near is wild. Because like why are you looping the killer right beside me 😩 I could have been yodel lee hee whoood off this hook😭

I'm based in Europe, and I often times play with people from the US. Hi there @HeroLives
While I have around 40 ping on my local European server, I sit at around 120 ping on the US East server, which is manageable against low-ping killers in that region. But as soon as I see someone who has more than 100 ping, things get crazy fast. It is as if the netcode can't handle ping differences of more than around 200 ms. Like, I have been hit more times behind walls and at the safe side of a window than what should be allowed.

This is the way of the land when playing with people from other countries, or having bad internet 😅

This is what you people don't seem to understand, you can ask "should killers…" but the fact is, they still do leave matches they don't want to be in. I get DCing killers fairly regularly, or they throw a tantrum and go AFK if the match isn't going well for them.

The same applies for survivors but in that case you don't know what killer you will get and the matches play very differently with different killers. It is clear from the start when some survivors clearly don't want to be in a match and forcing them to stay in isn't working.

Not making a moral argument for or against, something that seems to confuse a lot of people. The fact is, you can add any mechanic you want to force people to stay in matches they don't want to be in but you cant give them the will to actively participate, so it's redundant anyway. You're just prolonging someone leaving a match they've already effectively left.

Don't know why people have such a problem with understanding what I am saying here?

It’s not a lack of understanding, I very much understand. You think I haven’t experienced salty killers? I’m curious though why you expect others to understand or care about your experience when you don’t care about theirs.

No you missed the point entirely. There is a large segment of killer players that do nothing but "winstreak" with the most broken killers and builds, far beyond what any swf achieves. Yet the 97th time I load in to see lethal pursuer blight with double speed add ons, neon filters, and a hand cam rushing to down someone 20 seconds into the match I'm supposed to think "gee I wonder what went wrong. better practice because i'm sure the 98th time will be different! Let me just play guess the coin toss correctly 5 times every 10 seconds or die again".

Map tiles, survivor perks, and items get nuked based on whatever the top percentage of swfs can achieve. That's why even the best swfs can't get anywhere near the level of winstreaks of above average killer players. Survivor skill ceiling has been nerfed drastically. Yet we can't balance any of the killers that have been completely busted at the high end for YEARS. From the last stat release we got, high mmr 4 man swfs still weren't even escaping half the time. How is it fair in any way for killers to be winning hundreds of matches in a row on one side vs the best a good survivor team can manage is 50/50?

The goal is 60/40 so I mean they’re already over performing according to that marker. As far as the nurse/blight I assume they’re looking at averages no clue. You’ll have to ask the devs.

I don't think this would be possible as it'd lead to the legion effect, where you could trail survivors while not being in a chase with them. It'd result in annoying gameplay where the optimal play is moonwalking at your opponent.

I don’t main these killers so whoever plays them the most would probably have more ideas on what would make them feel better. Maybe a proximity feature that goes off distance to survivor that determines that so even if they moonwalk it doesn’t matter

except trapper, I love to play trapper from time to time.

I'd love to hear this mentality applied to the segment of the killer community that thinks the definition of facing adversity is losing 1/100 Blight matches. Really seems like the expectation of overcoming challenges only applied to one side.

wydm? Killers that would dc when the exit gates are powered or a chase that didn’t go their way are eating the penalties now too, the system isn’t biased. They just never had the luxury of going next on hook bc there’s no option like that for killer other than the leave button. Seems balanced now to me. Killers catch heat on here all the time so idk what you’re talking about.

  • I think with all the changes coming to survivor some of the lower end killers can use a bump to keep up with the times. Seems fair. I think there’s always ways you can alleviate whether it’s just adding something in for them or just a buff to numbers to help out.

Trapper should start with all his traps for one unless he’s using the reset addons. I saw someone say he should be able to throw traps, I think that’s a fun idea.

Hag decrease on teleport time, buff her ms a little bit

That’s just off the top of my head.

Stealth killers ms buff when not in chase

    Don't straw-man me

The fact is, people do get forced into matches they don't want to play, you can get angry all you want but it is the truth. But hey, lets just keep doing the delusional thing of forcing people to stay in matches they want out of, as that will totally work, right?

cool so should killers also just be able to leave whenever because “they’re not feeling it”? Everyone plays matches they don’t particularly care for due to x reason, but it’s a PvP game. That’s the nature of the beast.

I have no clue what world you live in if you think that's a survivor sided map. If it was so survivor sided…then why does everyone run to main for that one pallet that is moderately decent? There no sense of safety anywhere on that maps except for the occasional long wall. I'd be more inclined to believe you if the game would just give good rng and show me how strong the map is.

no there are some pretty strong loops on there.

I wouldn't mind luck offerings and related perks to allow unhook attempts but without taking away hook time.

I understand where the Dev's were coming from with the 1st hook stage and attempts to unhooko. But it ended up killing new players that didn't know any better and just saw the attempt unhook button. It sure had legit uses, like letting the last survivor have a chance at hatch. But too many took it as a protest button.

Right now I feel like the game is demanding that we cater to the most toxic of because that’s all that we get. So when you have people that are going out of their way to make sure that the experience is miserable for everyone else, being forced to sit through that for zero reward is not worth it. I’d personally rather take the damn DC penalty than ever give those type of people . And that’s what it comes down to the people who wanted to prevent anyone from leaving the game are the ones that get off on making things miserable for other people. If it was about winning, they can do that with bots. But not about winning for them. It’s about making sure that they get to make other people miserable. Dead by daylight now penalizes you for not wanting to sit through trolls.

What do you think can make the survivor experience better?

  • @Scarlett1111 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3955190#Comment_3955190

I'm not going to lie, had this conversation with a friend just the other day and it just boiled down to "Why do survivors get to decide if the game is fun or not, what about the killer?" when in reality the majority of the time if all 4 survivors aren't having fun, then the killer is most likely absolutely trouncing them. Stuff like 2 dead at 3 gens remaining and being forced to rat to hope you're not the one caught so you can attempt for hatch.

I think if a surrender option was added it would have to start at a certain timeframe/point in the game, dead players don't get to vote and the killer receives kill credit if survivors decide to give up. Is it selfish to say that if you as a killer is making the game miserable for any number of reasons that the survivors deserve to give up to both save time, mental, and enjoyment? It directly mimics that of other competitive games (while I disagree dbd should be competitive in the slightest when it doesn't have the playerbase to support a high MMR/ELO scene). Killer players in general are given much more tools to "have fun" in an average game, when survivors are normally using their space for fun additions to the match in defensives so they don't feel cheated out. Obviously this is a game problem, but systems like a surrender option are fairly easy to implement and can save a lot of mental fatigue, especially with the large number of survivor players being as jaded with the systems that exist currently.

I think this is a PVP game. I’m honestly not one for doom posting but I genuinely believe this would kill the game.

    Here’s why:

The bounds will keep getting pushed in a voting system there is in no sense a way a killer can play a full match against players in this scenario. Considering with how much dcing and going next was prevalent I don’t think it ends well for them(killers).

I am all for making the survivor experience better. I just don’t believe this in any fashion is the way to do it. With that established, then killers are going to push more for just being able to give up when they’re not winning. This then and in turn creates a cycle where everyone is just giving up. All because “they’re not winning” survivors aren’t playing a full match and winning, killers aren’t playing a full match and winning.

Let’s say they just keep adding in bots for that, it’s no longer a real PvP game and the game is dead. The game is currently killer sided by design unless you’re a survivor god, that’s just how it is, asymmetrical.

I think a voting system would absolutely ruin this game, and honestly if you want games like that this is probably not the game for you. It will turn this game into an absolute joke. “lol I don’t like this next “ any time anyone is winning “lol next enjoy your bots x main” There is no game with introducing a voting system in any way including giving killer equality in it.

It is beyond me why people can’t just take their L.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3955184#Comment_3955184

Fairness is a must. I say it often, but I think a proper working scaling difficulty system would benefit the game a lot. The one 2v8 uses is a start, but it's not great. I think basekit comebacks that work at appropriate times would make the overall experience feel less hopeless for either side. Genrushing would be cut down and camping/tunneling/slugging would be limited, but neither would disappear at all and would retain their strength when required.

More interactive objectives are another must. Hooks and gens are cooked. If our objectives more closely mirrored mini quests, that would give the game a lot more of a dynamic flow. If both sides had more diverse ways of interacting with each other, that would also be great. Setting more traps, more ways of incapacitating (with real counterplay and objectives during that time), etc.

Another absolute must is alternative ways of advancing the trial. I can concede that OG hatch might've been too much. But the nerf was equally too much. Not only does hatch need to be stronger, we need other ways of escaping/killing than just relying on what we have now. 3 gen? No problem, because we can work on hacking the gates (harder to do and takes longer). Hooks keep breaking, throw someone in a cage (riskier but keeps them out of the trial). Little things like that.

Beyond that, we need better scoring events, better ways of communicating with each other, better matchmaking, all the stuff under the hood that's been neglected.

I think Friday The 13th, Evil Dead, TCM, and Killer Klowns have all demonstrated ways of bringing these ideas forward. The problem is, none of them survive for very long.

Thanks so much for taking the time to type that out.

What do you think the scoring event should look like? I think I already know, but I don’t want to assume. Someone else’s idea of scoring may look different than yours and I’ve read scoring events before on here. If that was you my apologies and you won’t have to reiterate yourself, I just don’t remember who said it.

  • what does that look like to you? Vote number is an easy answer because 5 players. Survivors vote will always outweigh the killers vote though, and I think their experience also matters, they can get out voted most of the time just due to probability odds. Can killers also initiate the surrender option at anytime? Again they still get out voted by probability odds. I think that’s an extremely biased system, when I sit and I think about it.

    Does that matter to you?

  • @UnicornMedal said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3955153#Comment_3955153

At this point, my stance is that there's a lot the game could feasibly do to massively improve the experience. But realistically, not much it can do given all of the variables—the genre, the playerbase, the developer, etc. I wouldn't say it's doomed, but I do think it's old and it's tired.

Let’s throw whether or not it’s realistic out the door. I would like to hear what you think the things are that are demanding and go back to what you think feasible can make the experience better?

  • @ralecgos said:

No your advice just serves yourself to make you feel good. Most players here are advanced enough to recognize the answers you're providing. It changes nothing about the overall argument.

okay, what would make YOU stop wanting to go next or dc? What do YOU THINK THE GAME CAN GIVE YOU to keep you engaged and stop ruining the game for four other players in a MULTIPLAYER GAME BECAUSE YOU DECIDED FOR EVERYONE THE GAME WAS A WASH?

Regardless of whether it was or was not a wash, why should anyone have the power to decide for everyone else who agreed to play that they now have to adjust just because even 1 person doesn’t like the way the game is going?

    Better?

  • For any survivors reading this, if you’re going up against a bunch of proxy camping even when using resurgence ensure you also bring Made For This so you can tank a hit when they come right back and slap you. Now anyone running resurgence is healed and you don’t have to be down a health state just trying to get your team away for the hook.

You're not wrong. But you have to ask yourself how much the game is asking (in this case, demanding) of the average player versus how much it's rewarding.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3955085#Comment_3955085

It would've been very different if they'd changed more of the game first versus slapping it on as is. I think at its core, it's really only correcting petty go nexts (the reasons you hear repeated here as to why it should've been implemented) but it's not changing why the trials are bad at all.

I totally understand, that by no means is lost on me. This is not an easy game for the average person, especially if you’re playing survivor. I provide feedback on what I think can make a difference. If your issue is reward feel free to just vent off me on what you feel like would make the game more rewarding for you considering how demanding it is and what you feel like can alleviate that.

I don't know why you're speaking to people here like we're all idiots or noobs. We know. Some games are physically unwinnable and that is just a fact. No amount of "go getter mindset" is going to change that fact. A surrender option at the very least should be in the game. Simple as.

If that’s how you feel about receiving advice about a tip to handle sandbagging that is on you. You’re not the only person that gets sandbagged. Take it or don’t take it. You’re the one saying sandbagging is an issue for you. I’m either very blunt or goofy, take me as you will. My mmr is 5, I step in trappers traps. I just know this works for me, and even if I’m talking to you, I don’t know what other new player may be lurking and needs advice because they’re looking to find a way to manage sandbagging. I honestly don’t care if you’re a veteran or just downloaded the game yesterday, it literally makes no difference to me. You can be a loop god or last 5 seconds in a chase, I cannot express this enough I don’t care about that; I myself am so mid in chase, sometimes you would think I downloaded the game yesterday. That’s just DBD.

Please. Go ahead and tell me what counters survivors coming off the hook immediately with 70% progress, outside of proxy camping the hook so they can't heal at all.

I mean idk who is teaching you these things but survivors with or without resurgence that are good and coordinated are going to eat this Strat for breakfast lunch and dinner. Because I’ll just be honest with you, you’re going to get genrushed. It honestly only carries you so far playing like that. I’d start there.

Oh for sure you can slowdown in other ways, but when it comes to resurgence? There is zero counter to it, outside of proxy camping the hook.

If you truly think that given the lengthy amount of combinations you can string together not only in perks but also killers and their addons, you honestly have bigger fish to fry than if they’re healing fast.

  • @Rapid99 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3955013#Comment_3955013

There's no counter to resurgence providing 2-3 second heals off of hook. Leverage, the perk that LITERALLY nerfs healing when they're fresh off a hook, is completely unnoticeable. If the killer perk specifically designed to counter heals off a hook… is completely garbage against heals off a hook. Then yea, I'm going to out on a limb and say there isn't actually much counterplay to it.

There are so many ways to slow down the game. It doesn’t even have to be a 1 for 1. There’s over a 100 perks in this game. There’s basically counterplay to everything in this game if you search hard enough on either side.

  • @ralecgos said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3955017#Comment_3955017

Sorry but this excuse and reasoning doesn't work when you get teammates sometimes that actively sandbag out of malice or even involuntarily sandbag you due to their ignorance and naivety. We shouldn't be forced into being puppets for a killer player that already won the game 8 minutes before the final hook.

It’s actually the difference between a growth and fixed mindset. If I’m tired of getting sandbagged I put on bond, because you can see them coming from about 40m away, move out of the way, hide, let them pass, and get back on my gen. If you’re in the area of danger and they can hit you they will, bond you can almost completely negate sandbagging. It’s a free perk too that comes on Dwight which you get with the base game.

Other ways you can use bond , to get in line for a body block if you need to so the president doesn’t go down because if they die you’re doomed.

You can also use bond to not sandbag your teammates when you’re in a chase. Sometimes it’s better to go down than run the killer right into the area where someone on death hook is healing, or to a pivotal gen your teammates need to get done.

Those are just 3 ways you can use this totally free perk to help yourself and your teammates. Doesn’t matter if you’re brand new or just okay at the game. It’s a really useful perk. Bond haters out there, I see you. Respectfully, you’re wrong.

According to my post above I have a lot of people agreeing with me a lot of votes up. Tells you there’s a big issue with slugging in general it’s not just a me problem. The problem starts when you want to run your favorite build that doesn’t require metas like DS Dead Hard, OTR, And Unbreakable. I have to run unbreakble in every match because I hate getting slugged the problem is I don’t want to because I want to run other perks hoping I have smoother games. People like you don’t know how it feels until it happens to you

Do you want to play with my friend and I? Nobody is going to bully you about what you’re running, and idk I think this game is just learned best over comms to be honest because there’s so much in the moment information sharing where you can help each other learn.

If not me, then hand on the entity if you need help just join a dbd group and make some friends you vibe with it’s more fun, and modern dbd for survivor isn’t made for average and below learners learning it through solo Q it’s going to suck.

  • @UnicornMedal said:

I wouldn't say that the devs don't intend it to go down like that. I would say that they view it as a necessary casualty. It's not.

As many of us are learning and will continue to learn, being forced to stay in a trial doesn't dramatically shift the tides. It just wastes more time.

Sounds like something a quitter would say honestly.

Never challenging yourself with adversity because you can tab out or go next, it doesn’t make anyone a better player. Staying in is always practice to learn more or figure out what went wrong and how to do it better next time. Difference in perspectives. Naturally you can only be held accountable for your own performance, but I think there’s usually almost always something someone can learn.

I feel like the devs would read this and maybe see our evolving story as poetic since it probably reflects part of their development arc. Nerf, buff, nerf, buff...

Also, good choice for the killers! Demo and Xeno are both cuddly animals who I have booped :D

That’s such a sweet and nice thought, it is sorta poetic.

It was an easy follow up, you gave me a lot to work with. I had so much fun reading op and your bit. I hope others feel encouraged to add onto it, I personally want to see how unhinged it can get.

In a particular trial with the Trapper, Vittorio, Mikaela, and Dwight all worked together to uncover the secrets of the Entity's realm as Meg ran the killer for like, 17 gens.

While the Trapper was busy stepping in his own traps, the survivors discovered that it was possible to leave behind information and items which they could discover in future trials by storing messages written on map parchment and stored inside jars of salty lips.

On the first day of their discovery, Dwight, being the leader of the group, wrote down the first of the scrolls, this one containing his idea to make survivors able to outwit the killer. It said only two words "backpack gen".

That was years ago. Now everything has changed. I write this as I hide, crouched behind some kind of weird flower on Toba landing, using my stealth no longer to hunt the survivors en masse, but to bide my time and slowly restore the natural order. I have discovered how to use my Pig mask to pretend to be Meg, and slowly I have begun to hunt down these survivors that now rule the Entity's realm.

Tales now pass through their ranks of a roar from the shadows as a survivor disappears not to be heard from again. My story is told by survivors to each other at the campfire in hushed whispers. Once, I was just a Pig. But now, I Am Legend.

Day 1 Holding it Down for the Underground

It is true the rumors whispered about Pig. I went above ground to see what they now call the “Wasteland”. They still let you visit but there’s no resources there anymore. However, there tucked away in a decrepit chest in a relic glass from the past there was a note scribbled on the parchment it reads:

“ We opened Pandora’s box, and what was once just a stealthing Pig now gained a new ability, they say the traps weren’t enough, she needed something more and there in the dark Pig tinkered until she emerged with a new trap, one with wings. She now has the ability for aerial attacks to zone and trap us; as well as a dive bomb. It was too strong though and resources nuked.” -end note-

Out of need for adaptation we have fled to the underground. Now only guided by the odd light here and there to make our way through the tunnels stumbling in the dark. Jungle gyms we now have to carve for ourselves for any lines of defense, even then one swipe can bring the whole thing down. We feared the death from above, but nothing could have prepared us for the horrors that awaited below, thus 2 S tier killers with kit buffs emerged from their underground palace in a surprise rework a new Xeno and Demo was reborn.

  • Absolutely not, there will be riots in the streets.

there are bots 100%, i just had an Yui who would point the flashlight at me whenever i was near to her, this is a behaviour i only know from bots.

I would say that falls under pretty normal player behavior tbh. I wouldn’t say it’s incredibly common but it’s happened enough over the years. It just means like hey or what’s up just being funny type thing via flashlight signaling.
