This is under review by the team.
wait wait for the chaos of it all I think you should leave it. Survivors get haddonfield(it’s always rightfully belonged to us) for the drops, and killers get badham with this absolutely rigged gen spread. Am I a twisted pretzel? Don’t get me wrong we can go for balance, or we can go for shenanigans on these two maps specifically. My vote is shenanigans for these two specific maps. Yes people on both sides will complain until the cows come home, but hear me out, THE SHENANIGANS!!!! It might not be a popular opinion, but I vote make these two maps busted. I am willing to trade badham for haddonfield. Idk why it just feels right.
-
So we’re all in agreement collectively as survivors we are just going to meme on this map right? Escape is not an option unless the killer fumbles so hard you would think they are on the peewee football team that their parents forced them to join. We doing duck duck goose or Eeenie meanie Minnie moe for who’s about to go touch the killers butt in the house?

I am playing exclusively Kaneki during the event, because with all other killers, the gens just fly like they are going out of business.I am all for this new mechanic in general and mixing survivor gameplay up, but without any form of gen defense and how fast they can be completed by working together, its just insurmountable pressure with most other killers.
But after my fair share of Friends till the End, Dissolution and Rapid Brutality, I am now a bit more chill just adopted a devious endgame build, just to make survivors sweat really hard when they think that they are nearly out.
Spies (my go-to info perk that I play in basically any build)
None are Free - No Way Out - Remember me: just a very evil endgame combo. If you manage to get full stacks, then the endgame is really no fun for survivors. I also had so many situations where I closed the hatch and watched survivors die at the exit gate switch, as the lamps turned agonizingly slow to red. I think if you manage to close the hatch before the survivors touch the gate, there is only a miniscule 10s window for them to start the exitgates after the switches come unblocked. Its really evil and even if you don't get it powered up completely, it still makes the endgame a lot of fun and gives you a surprising amount of free kills.
Just be ready for some salt.
this sounds like a job for mermaid man and barnacle boy! There’s evilllllll afoot. Evviiiiilllll. Jk nice endgame build, love to see it.

I am thinking of a specific killer perk that I feel like would counter this.

It's not the defeat itself that's scary, but what follows after it. When the killer loses to the surviving side, there is a very high probability of salt from the surviving winners.
For example, today the Ghoul legion was diluted by the game against Michael Myers. This killer made 2 hooks and one kill (there was Noed) during the game. The survivors simply ran away, never playing salvation. After the match, there was one survivor who started writing those same phrases noob and easy. Considering that meeting such a killer now is a blessing.
Those videos on YouTube where the scene begins with 4 survivors t-bag in the gate. A person wakes up in a cold sweat and goes to play for Nurse. They don't appear out of nowhere. Although the video The Birth Of Basement Bubba completely reflects the path of the killer in DBD. You create these monsters yourself.
Therefore, it is better to be a hated winner who will redirect his pain to the survivors. Because in DBD, 1 in 5 people always suffer. The only question is, who will it be?
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3911504#Comment_3911504
Depends on whether you want to protect yourself or others?
I prefer Open-Handed+Kindred information works wonders if your solo friends have game intuition and a sense of duty to hang on the hook until victory or hold m1 on generators. It's a whole 32-meter killer radar. When it works, it's worth it. I like to add something like Resurgence and Breakdown to my extensive information.
All sorts of Babysitter are for SWF, where they will be more useful. I tunnel survivors with Babysitter. The effect is very noticeable.
The goal is others.
open handed and kindred are pretty good, not a swf, just a duo at best scheming on babysitter individually whether I solo or duo. Tunnel me if you must I guess, but I’ll have you know leather face is my cool uncle and we work on the farm together. You see that truck? We work on it together. That shack? We built it with our bare hands! That’s us starring out at our land after a hard days work thinking about when we’re going camping.
I rarely group on this game because it just makes ping insane, especially when people are from all over the place. I hate bouncing around from lag and servers trying to make it work. -
do no harm and duty of care sound good, rapid response is twitching in a corner from being hit with roach spray.

I agree that the tutorial system could (and should) really be expanded, but the problem is that DBD has so much vital but situational/niche content that would need to be covered that finding a starting point would be a challenge.
I actually think some of the stuff mentioned here (like don't hang out around/crash the hook, etc.) probably should be left as something players figure out organically. Or included as tips on the loading screens. There's just so much you could add there it would almost be never ending.
Where I think the most need is (and the most daunting) is killer specific tutorial. Like basics on both how to play as them, and what to expect when facing them. There are just so many killers and so many powers that it must be overwhelming as a new player. And frustrating when you get a new player as a teammate and it is clear they don't know how the killer you're facing works. Then you get frustrated with them when it's not really their fault.
And that curve is only getting steeper with each killer release.
Also, a primer on how to read the HUD, status effects, and what all the icons mean. And then you have perks, and what a task that would be.
And then of course there is the truly vital info, like how to moonwalk with a controller.
But seriously, I think this is an area where BHVR has been bailed out by content creators effectively doing their job for them.
I agree, those are really good ideas! I think it would take time to give that QoL to but I think it’s super needed. You’re so right.

@Drunkenmunky said:
The problem is when you try to unhook someone when the killer is right there.
Instead of unhooking after the hit, you pick up the gas can instead. Thus, you just get downed.
It's a bad mechanic.
The option of taking trading a hook is taken away from a bad mechanic.do you think not that there is a way to push the can once dropped far away enough from the hook to not trigger that situation? Sure it’s not “realistic” in a game immersion kind of way for them to move the can to avoid this if that’s the hang up. However, this is a video game and it’s not exactly based in reality, I think it feasible to move a can to fix that.
-
flashlights and pallet stuns are pretty much a joke these days. Like others have said you’re wasting precious time trying to do that when you should be on a gen, because it’s basically throwing the match.

Even that isn't always true though, maybe the person unhooking has we'll make it and/or the unhooked person has resurgence. Maybe the killer is super far away on the other side of the map. Maybe the killer is oni, and running away will just give you a trail of blood that leads to you while giving him even more blood to soak up.
Too many factors
oh yeah for sure there’s always exceptions to rules, no doubt. I totally agree, but it’s still better to go someone safer than be right where they left you.
I’m not saying run to the edge of the map, but at least go for cover if you can. Most people aren’t bringing “let me get them straight”-most of the time- perks. I love we’ll make it paired with made for this.
You can heal them and tank a hit if you need to. In general though it’s a bad idea to heal under the hook. Almost every single time I do it or let it happen without anything to boost heals it just ends up costing the team more than it gives in terms of time. Especially early on when resources are still up. Where mostly when you pick a new spot to reset it works out better, and it’s better chances. Those are my thoughts and experiences anyways.
-
on the survivor side the tutorial should come with a warning that healing under the hook is a terrible idea.
-
I don’t think it would be a big deal if they did make it where the can drops. It gets eaten up just by sitting anyways, and if you’re running with it, it diminishes anyways. Maybe,no way to do it without it giving killers straight up franklins though with however it’s coded, possibly? No idea. I’m putting some down though here and there as survivor for you guys.

It's perfect for me, RPD is one of my best maps for tombstone Myers. Couple months ago I blew through over 120 RPD offerings in a few days (had a collection for a while). It's pretty funny when survivors think they are countering a ghoul but actually dooming themselves to a tombstone Myers when they bring RPD.

I have no faith in survivors. I always play with Bond to see what my solo friends are doing. Because I'm more scared of my teammates than the camping and tunneling killer. I usually have no problem with tunneling killers because I understand their mindset and tactics. Birds of a feather flock together :) Thanks to Bond, I avoid a lot of problems in my survivor game.
For modern survivors, Shoulder the Burden is too complex a concept. With the current matchmaking system, it's literally playing suicide squad, where the chance you give a survivor is wasted.
I have a slightly different relationship with SWF once I found other survivors like me. I still don't like SWF, but I now recognize that SWF is a filter for survivors who are allergic to generators and useful actions in the game. SWF is literally the true potential of solo survivors who understand how to play the game.
Friends till the End, there is some truth in your statement that a strong survivor can take some of the perk's power, but there are too many variables. For me, it works more than not. Many survivors do not understand the versatility of tunneling as a tactic, which I consider a boon for killers. After all, what is true tunneling? It is, first of all, an acting game, where you create the illusion of safety for survivors, when in fact it is not in reality.
I could discuss this topic, but perhaps I will not. I am just watching and waiting to see how much the nerfs requested by survivors will make killers stronger. What kind of monster will survivors create this time? After all, all the changes made killers more effective. That hypothetical face camper a few years ago is now a skilled tunneler and slugger.
The irony is that killers do change and become better. Just not in the aspects that survivors would like to see. Sorry, I got carried away again...
I was thinking about an anti tunnel build today probably made for this, distortion, babysitter, and we’ll make it. Followed up with a point somewhere so they don’t expect a heal under the hook. Am I cooking or? Idk I think it would be worth a try.

It’s been a minute since a played. Decided to hop on for the Blood Moon. Kinda feel bad for killers because it’s easy to do 1 gen, and fill the rest up.
I started running Empathy, Empathetic Connection, and Autodidact.
It’s worked surprisingly well. I see where they are, and they can also see me while injured. So they know where not to run the killer if they see me on a gen. If they escape they usually come to me. If not I come to them. Stack up tokens. Then start with the miracle plays.
It takes 2 slots, but giving your team aura read while injured is better than giving aura read on hook imo.
keep playing , when I came back from my break my matches were cake too.

I'm almost sure that she'll have at least one.
right exactly. Oh I hope they’re something absolutely devious like. Hold on take my halo, and let me grab my evil survivor horns.
- Completely swap health states with another survivor, can be full or half health.
- Block a pallet from being broken for x amount of time
- Give another survivor upon an unhook a health state to bring them to full recovery while losing one yourself.
- When another survivor gets hit off an unhook within x amount of time take their health state for them if you’re the one that unhooked them.
Is this too evil?Idk 😈 but I dream about having perks like these.

kill switched? If anything it needs the 100% reduced stagger not effected by exhaustion back. BL is borderline twitching in a corner. You literally gotta set yourself up to use it, it’s such a right place at the right time exhaustion perk as is.

You appear to be missing my point. I am not saying you didn't see cheating Killers. I also saw cheating Killers.
I'm saying that it's much more upsetting when Survivors cheat in a mode already in their favor. It was crappy when Killers were cheating last Blood Moon too, when the mode was in THEIR favor. This is part of why events should not "favor" one side more than another.
Cheating is a crappy thing to do and cheaters in general are a-holes. Cheating when everything is already tilted to your favored side is another level of a-hole entirely. That's it that's my whole point.
yeah I’m not doing this with you when I notice cheating no matter which side I play. They need to buff the anti-cheat period.

@LockerLurk said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3911282#Comment_3911282
Yes. They do.
But this thread is not about Killer players cheating, it's about Survivors cheating in an event that already favors them. Cheating is bad, but cheating when you have the advantage is even worse.
the killer was cheating during the event that I witnessed…and it’s not a killer that’s suffering by any means.
-
@LockerLurk said:
I think it's really pretty sad when the event is already clearly Survivor-sided, and yet some Survivors are still cheating. I will never understand, what, a whole mode in your favor wasn't enough?
there’s killers cheating too, you can see them doing it with certain survivor perks. They’re not even running auras but know at all times where people are. Yeah though they should do something across the board about all the cheating, it’s getting subtler but it still is happening.

the time crunch playing as survivor is incredibly strenuous in todays dbd, especially if you’re playing solo or duo. The matches are so fast paced, that resetting has become incredibly difficult. Often times you’re forced into a lose lose. It’s lose the gen, or lose the teammate. Lose the gen or teammate to find the totem. Most killers have been tuned so highly that new/average/casuals can’t keep up. It’s shouldn’t be a huge surprise that most people want to play a game where they feel like their inputs matter, in todays dbd most of the time they don’t.
You have to play selfishly at others expense or die a martyr to break Strats so everyone isn’t dying at 5 gens, only for them to start dying at 3-If you’re not high mmr 4 swf- It’s honestly so much less stressful and feels better to play killer than it does survivor. Most of your decisions boil down to do I want to 4k or do I want to let some go and start throwing this match so I’m not hemorrhaging bp from closing this out too early? Anyways the asymm on this asymm is asymming a little too hard.
-
idk why but upon further analysis(even though this is supposed to be an original chapter) the voice actor also reminds me of Neicy Nash from grotesquerie. I can’t shake the feeling it sounds just like her.

@TotemsCleanser said:
This is kind of a pet peeve of mine because I could swear it was stated somewhere in the lore that neither survivors nor killers could talk within the entity's realm due to reasons doing with the entity itself. I think that in the case of survivors it revolved around the entity not wanting them to properly communicate with each other or something like that (insert here a joke about SWF communicating through Discord yada yada). So the fact that most survivors (and killers) yap these days is a bit anticlimatic for me, since when I started playing everyone was quiet except for Ash, who was always a meme-y character in that regard since he comes from a sort of comedy-horror franchise. And that quietness was kind of eerie and unsettling.
Now, if they're going for a fully voiced scheme from now on, then why are the older survivors and killers still silent?! I understand that it's in character for many killers (like Myers) or that many of them are creatures who can not speak (Demogorgon, Xenomorph). But why are some of the most iconic survivors in the game, like Dwight, Claudette or Meg, still completely quiet? I don't get it and it kinda bothers me to be honest.
I welcome og character voice lines. I think my favorite is trappers when he stepped in his own trap, it’s just precious.They should build on it. I like it.

Support could work. I'm not fully opposed to the idea of categories, I just personally think it would be easier to cap things like progression and regression speeds.
A cap still allows player agency to pick a build, even one that hyper focuses on one aspect of the game, but limits the impact that kind of specialization can have.
I think there’s a few ways they can do things and ultimately agree with you, that capping is a good starting point. I’m open to trying things as well and not opposed. The truth is something has to happen to help the new players/casuals while accounting for fluxes at the top given how liberal the match-making is for the sake of q times. I think it’s a good point to launch from.

It's a step in the right direction.
And honestly, I think either making things not stack at all, or simply putting a hard cap on modifiers is something they should've started doing years ago.
Removing stacking is the "easy" fix, but could be confusing for newer players if there isn't also some feedback in game to say that certain perks don't work together. Although, if they were to cap speeds they'd have the same problem, admittedly.
The reason I don't like "categories" is there are too many hybrid perks. As an example: are Eruption and call of brine regression or information? They're both… but if you do that, you can just stack them in separate slots again, which kind of defeats the point of trying to prevent stacking categories at all.
I see your point but I don’t think it impossible to make the perk “buckets” to account for the dual wielding perks, while still allowing build flexibility so people can have fun and experiment. 🧪 Distortion comes to mind off the top of my head on survivor side that’s a dual wielding perk as well. Maybe one of the slots could be made for dual function perks? Then like support? Defense? Information? Idk I’m cooking. It’s just a thought.

This 1000%. I thought they had finally realized when 2v8 came out and everyone was having a ton of fun without having to deal with all the cheese. Not to mention it would incentivize more variety in loadouts. Like I don’t think anyone would oppose to 4 slowdowns or 4 haste/endurance not being a thing anymore but removing stacking altogether is just boring af.
I have hope there will still be options for synergy builds, it just won’t allow people to go too heavy in the paint anymore to the point balancing is so complex it stops progress on either side. There’s a lot of mad scientists out there. It will probably help with balancing killers a lot too.
-
@AmpersandUnderscore said:
They already said they're adjusting the values to compensate for the perks no longer stacking. I'll also add that they haven't given any numbers out yet, but generally every single perk this affects should be getting a numbers buff because of it.
yeah I didn’t get that info but I assumed that’s what they’re doing breaking it up so that you can make them good without constantly having to go down nerf alley because of mad scientists min-max builds.

It's a good change that's been a long time coming.
Now do progression and slowdown.
they can take the long road, but honestly I wish they would make perk slots dedicated to categories to stop all the heavy anti/haste/prog/aura/info/slowdown/stealth on both sides cook up. It would probably makes things so much easier to balance.

Thank you, yeah seems like a good change to me.

It literally hard counters all ranged killers at any window tile.
Isnt that "a bit" too much? You basically say that equipping Finesse will make a Survivor immune against Range Killers on Windows. Certainly it can help, but you make it sound like a guaranteed "Get out of the Jail"-card against Ranged Killers, which is just not the case.
@Topic:
I dont think it is underrated or overrated. It is a fine Perk for what it does, but I would not say that it is one of the best Perks you can equip, but I would also not say that it is useless. It can help in some situations and I have seen it help in those (e.g. I once had a Survivor only get through the Window because of Finesse when I was playing Bubba, otherwise it would have been a Chainsaw-Hit mid-vault), but I have also been hit while fast-vaulting the window with Finesse… Its alright, but neither over- nor underrated.
I’ve been hit a decent chunk of times using finesse at a window, and in all those cases I wouldn’t have had the timing to clear it anyways.
I’ve had it pull “wonders” in very few cases that are really close calls where that fraction matters.
However, Most of the time it wouldn’t have been a hit anyways and you just get that fraction of time. Oddly enough one of those “wonders” was against an aoe bubba not too long ago on eeryie and I was sweating and PRAYING for a miracle, high pitched screaming on the inside. I think I was playing as a Mikayla sable or yui. Anyways when my feet touched I was like
