Devs have told us that kills = skill and kills = win.
A killer getting two kills by camping, tunneling and noed is more skilled than a killer getting eight hooks and no kills according to the lead designer.
So, you did not play against lazy killers, you played against the most skilled ones.

same here, people need to chill.
You will probably not see this perk when facing solos but SWFs are going to abuse the ######### out of it.

SBMM is a thing. Otz was matched with people of the same skill level.
This is a survivor team on the same level as otz

BHVR just genuinely does not know what they are doing, nor what is best for this game.
Don't get me wrong, from 2016 to early-2019 they did an amazing and outstanding work which deserves praise.
But after that...there has been nothing but downgrades and disappointments again, and again, and again...
That is why new leadership is required. A certain...General, for that matter.
I can fix this game.
"Don't get me wrong, from 2016 to early-2019..."
We should not forget, the DEV team from 2016 is very different from the team that is working on the game today.
From the famous faces, McLean left, Stefan "pen spinner" Horvath left to work for PUBG, Ash Pannell I think also left quite some time ago and... I don't watch any dev streams anymore but I haven't heard anything from Dave Richards for a long time and McCote I think is also more involved in other behaviour projects for some years now.
So... who from the original team is actually still working on DBD?
-
People must remember that the harder it is for the killer to get a hook, the more he will watch out for it.
Also, bodyblocking with BT? Don't complain about tunneling afterwards :D
If we can agree on these terms, bodyblock all you want ;)
-
Dying ensures that my mmr stays low so I either give the poor lad a mercy kill or sacrifice myself for a random teammate.
Yes, low mmr solo queue is currently the only way I still have fun in this game ;)

What exactly raises your MMR? Does anyone know?
Is there any way to measure it at all?
Why would the devs put something like this in the game?
Why dont they just take it out and go back to match making via ranks?
"What exactly raises your MMR? Does anyone know?"
As TripleSteal already mentioned, it is only about kills and escapes. Yes, Dev's have been working on this system for over two years, collecting masses of data, running public tests and... it comes down to kills and escapes, nothing more.
"Is there any way to measure it at all?"
Nope. Not even the quality of your opponents is a reliable indicator. You can be a 5k hour perfect looper and a pain in the ass for every killer but if you don't care about escaping and give the poor lad a mercy kill at the end or sacrifice yourself by saving a random teammate... your mmr goes down. Yes, you can run the killer for five or theoretically ten gens and still not raise your mmr. Btw, this is how I am having fun in this game atm ;)
Also, the matchmaking range widens the longer you sit in queue, so if that 4man SWF with combinded 30k+ hours in the game has been sitting in queue for 10-20 minutes, they just get the next unlucky killer who is available.
"Why would the devs put something like this in the game?"
Well, they wanted to implement an actual "skill-based" matchmaking but... sometime during the 2+ years of figuring out the system they propably realized, they didn't have what it takes to finish it. But they didn't want to show up (again) empty handed and just went with what we have now: kills and escapes.
"Why dont they just take it out and go back to match making via ranks?"
Propably because they wasted 2+ years of time and resources on it?
At first we had a rank-system based on the amout of BPs you made during your match.
Then we had the "victory cube" based on kills (only for killers of course, survivors still got matched based on BPs) but people were complaining that killers starting playing extra sweaty because only kills mattered (hey, deja vu ;) ).
Then we got the emblem system, which in my opinion just needed some tweaking as it basically was a mmr system just based on the wrong numbers. At least it reflected "skill" more than the current system. But yes, playtime was a major factor so a lot of potatoes reached high ranks automatically - like I said, it needed some adjustments.
-
That flashlight save at 3:15... I thought they fixed this bug, what a naive kid I am ;)
-
The only problem with flashlights are the angle at which a killer can be blinded when picking up someone.
The survivor doesn't even have to be on your screen to blind you. Sometimes you can stand directly in front of a wall and still get blinded because of some weird angle.
Everything else is fine and often actually more advantageous for the killer then the survivor trying to get the blind.
I'd take four flashlights over four medkits or toolboxes anytime.

One question: will the removal of said cosmetic stop the people, that are targeting streamers of color? Or will they continue to harras them even more because they actually managed to have such a big impact?

Are you suggesting there's no point reporting a cheater unless we've got video evidence to back it up?
Yes.
You need to have a video recorded, report them ingame, open a support ticket, get the steamID and other stuff from the hackers account and finally upload the video somewhere, should only take you about 30-60 minutes 😎
In the meantime, the hacker, after eventually getting banned, can get a new key and be back in game in two minutes max 🤣
-
How to reduce the chance of tunneling:
- don't unhook while the killer is still around the hook
- don't hide or sneak away after unhooking, especially if your whole team is playing stealthy. if the killer sees nobody on their bbq, they might just check the nearby gens and stay around the area of the hook
- if the killer gets his first hook when two gens are already finished and your gen is at 99%, just don't finish it. no really, I mean it. this is a simple psychological trick. even the nicest and most fair playing killer might just say "one hook for three gens, alright, time to spice things up a little bit"
- and if you are the unhooked one, don't try to desperately tank a hit with BT like blocking the killer, who is already going after the unhooker. trying to tank the hit right under the hook is alright but trying to block the killer at a doorway or other narrow places while they are trying to chase another player will get you tunneled even by the nicest killers
this will not prevent tunneling in all cases, but will reduce the chance. if the killer desperatly wants to get one person out of the game, do gens. this is sad but there is nothing you can do, just pray the tunneled one is a good runner.

What's the problem with mori's?
Nowadays they are just a different death hook animation.

I will miss solo but i wont miss those killer match they were awful and i realise i really need to learn spirit or nurse for when the mmr is back
Nope, you don't have to learn Nurse or Spirit for high mmr. Each killer you own has its own mmr. Your Trapper has a different mmr than your Nurse.
It is not like now that your account is in red ranks and that's it.
If you never played Nurse, your Nurse will have a very low mmr. If you practice your Nurse and get better, the mmr of your Nurse will go up. But this will not influence the mmr on your Trapper - just a little bit because there is a base mmr for all your killers. Actually, if you get better at Nurse it will propably raise your Trapper mmr a tiny little bit because your average mmr will go up.
-
I played some killer matches yesterday afternoon till evening (EU region). I waited like 10 seconds for each lobby, max.
-
I will never say no to free BPs but... ResidentSleeper
We just had an event in which you could earn 6x BPs in a lot of matches and got free BPs here and free BPs there.
So despite the fact that I still need tons of BPs I’m not exited in the slightest.
-
In this case I‘d also say the killer.
They have the option to end the game and don’t use it.

there are 24 killers which is why I suggested this, average it would only take 1/24 longer than normal, which isnt that much longer if you think about it, if 4 solo q bans different killers then it would only take 4/24 longer, which is 1/6 longer on worst case scenario. 5 min q will be around 6 minutes. not "easly 20 min+". The only problem I can see is people playing hatable killer have to wait longer such as spirit, deathslinger, bubba and freddy.
I also suggested problem solver for SWF, iguess u didnt read it.
This calculation only works if every killer is played by an equal amount throughout all ranks. 1/24 of all available killer players needs to play Pig, 1/24 needs to play Billy and 1/24 needs to play Spirit, equally distributed through all ranks.
Out of 24 games in red ranks, how many Spirits, how many Freddy's and how many Billiy's do you verse?
-
Broken chapter full of bugs, missing console optimisation and the „content“ of the event is basically just a bunch of free blood points, some shards and one recycled cosmetic that almost nobody is going to wear.
Add to this that a big pile of the free stuff was given out to silence the crowd because the game was literally unplayable for some people.
happy fifth anniversary...
-
Once again, SWF groups are increasing this problem.
Only one of them needs to equip one or two totem hunting perks or a map. They don't even need to cleanse them immediately as they can just forward their location to the rest of the team. Which is espacially aggravating if you manage to chase one survivor off of your totem... just to have it cleansed 20 seconds later by a teammate.
When playing solo you either take care of totems and the corresponding perks yourself - and suddenly you have three totem hunters on your team ;) - or you just hope one of your random teammates takes over this role.
-
Taking notes from this thread: I have to play more spirit...people prefer it, got it. About time, haven't played her in almost two years. Thx buddies!

Surely that gives you a vod to forward with a report though ?
That doesn't make it okay, but do you spend the time to forward it ?
- record the match
- report them ingame
- open a support ticket on their page
- upload the video
Ok, in this case there is a twitch vod but honestly, who would go through this process? You probably spend half an hour plus upload time just for the slim chance that someone actually takes a look at your report.
This system is basically telling the user to **** off and leave them alone with your reports.
You had to do this for simple insults or death threads in the after game chat because somehow, even after switching to dedicated servers, BHVR was not able to read chat logs.
-
Not an original one-of-a-kind troll post but at least you keep the ball rolling by throwing more bait answers into the thread.
Definately A for effort.

I can't stand this "Killer Community" bullshit. All you are doing is enforcing the Us vs Them stigma that will be thing that ends up killing the game. By acting like the dreadful "KiLlEr MaInS" are all evil and out to get you, you are no better than the people your complaining about. You are part of the biggest problem this game has, trying to split the community.
As for your complaints, sorry, but no. I hate camping and tunnelling as much as the next guy, but according to charts, the game has more players than it ever has. If the game wasn't literally broken for some people, there'd be even more. The game isn't dying.
Exactly! People behave like camping/tunneling killers only play killer and "toxic" survivors never play killer.
Actually, if you have a really "toxic" survivor in your lobby, take the time and check their steam profile. Quite often you will find it full of "Camping/tunneling/trash killer comments".
This also works the other way, checking a killer's profile and seeing a lot of "useless/trolling/toxic" teammate comments.
The problem are the people themself, not the side they play. A "toxic" person will play "toxic" on both sides.
-
Survivor gameplay has evolved quite a lot over the past five years:
- At the very very beginning, people were just hiding... and Wraith was op because of his invisibility
- People were also camping pallets, EVERY single pallet. And they looped infinites.
- Then the pallet looping started, many people were holding 72hrs responsible for this ;)
- Against Nurse people were already told to hold W.
- With Clown's release people started pre-dropping pallets.
- Nowadays, with more and more killers having a power that helps them with pallet / window loops, people started running and pre-dropping. They also found out, this works against a lot of other killers too.
I'm actually wondering how survivors will play in one year.
-
I don't like these changes at all.
- They increase his 1v1 strength, which was already decent, map/location dependant but not weak at all. Overall he will be less fun to play against.
- The changes don't address his 1v4 weakness, no map mobility, no slowdown. This will not make him more fun to play as.
In my opinion his power could stay unchanged. I also have no idea how to boost his map mobility in a way that fits his character, but they could give him a little bit of slowdown:
- Knives no longer decay over time. Survivors need to do a short action to remove a blade, difficult skill check, screams when failing. One action required per blade. Failing two in a row puts you in the injured state when the survivor was still at full health. Healthy survivors with blades stuck onto them leave small pools of blood. Survivors with blades are incapacitated, meaning they have to get rid of all blades before doing any action besides unhooking.
- Main event right now is just boring. Trickster is already throwing knives, now he is throwing more knives faster... zzzzzzzz. Why not give him something that's already in his story. He is recording the screams of his victims. Maybe let him collect stacks for his main event for every survivor he hooks (aka he is recording their scream). Then he can activate his main event once for each stack affecting all survivors in his terror radius (aka playing their screams). Maybe they scream revealing their location (like doctor) or get affected with various status effects. Lots of possibilities here.

Killers are once again ruining the event with the sweaty, entitled play style. Never fails. They only care about getting that 4K with zero effort or skill. It’s boring at this point.
Tell that to all those boring swf’s with 3 or 4 event toolboxes, each with a BNP. Then, when everyone is on death hook (because I play ultra nice) the 3man is teabagging at the exit gate while the poor random (the only one who collected a crown) is struggling on hook.
Not even a gg after I basically invited them to save that poor soul.
After three of those games in a row I just switched to survivor. Hopefully those survivors are getting the killers they deserve.
-
If you are playing in a SWF, cleanse the totems.
if you are playing solo, just get out or take one for the team, aka eat the noed and die so your randoms can get out.
-
Once you start a challenge like this you will probably only get teammates that do my favourite bullshit challenge: Hide within 10 meters of the killer for 120 seconds. ;)

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/261296/is-gen-rushing-actually-a-thing
All you need a the leader perk and your able to do a gen in lightning speed if you have an other survivor with you. It’s seriously stupid especially how it stacks with tool boxes.
Leader doesn’t affect gen speed anymore. It’s been changed... ages ago.
-
Well, let's take a look at the last killers released and how they interact with pallets and windows:
- Nemesis, can hit over pallets and windows
- Trickster, can hit over pallets and windows
- Twins, Victor can hit over pallets and windows
- Pyramidhead, can hit over pallets and windows
- Deathslinger, can hit over pallets and windows
Since 1,5 years only Blight has to outplay a pallet or window in a creative way. Against all others you should drop early or you are going to get hit in most loops, not all loops but a lot of them.
-
There is one interesting difference with how both sides try to counter their opponents in this regard:
- Most Killers are packed with gen-regression perks, often dedicating their whole build around it (ruin, undying, pop + corrupt)
- A lot of survivors on the other hand unhook in the killers face without BT and barely anyone is bringing DS anymore, almost like an invitation to tunnel.
-
If a survivor dc's at five gens, the other three survivors might just dc as well because that match is over. It is just a cycle of "one guy on hook - one guy getting chased - one guy going for the unhook" until everyone is dead.
If I'm a survivor in such a match and the killer is still trying hard to get everyone dead as quickly as possible I just suicide on hook and move on to the next one.
-
This reminds me of another game I played years ago: Dirty Bomb
One day a content creator asked them: "Hey, your matchmaking is bad. In half of my games my team is totally stomping the opposite team. The other half of my games, my team gets totally stomped. This is silly!"
Their answer: "So, you are winning half of your games and loose the other half. That's exactly what we want, a 50% winrate for everybody."
Nowadays, the game is officially dead, only a few custom player-run servers are left and only a bunch of hardcore fans remain.
-
Of course some people will complain about that build. Every perk fits his ability perfectly, just like infectious on oni, bamboozle on bubba or... stridor on spirit
Is that a reason to change anything (except for the stridor spirit, no question here)? Killers had to play vs. the same boring meta builds for years.
-
Because a big part of the vocal player base sees themselve as part of the top1% and assumes they will only go against seal team six teams / sweaty nurse or spirits.
while in reality, the current non-existing match making places them vs. complete potatoes and hands them free wins.
the second point will stop and the first one will not happen because people are not as skilled as they think they are.
-
Well, coconut for sure is one of the best killer player in this game. Of course the MMR should match him and all the other top level killers to the best survivors.
Once this is achieved, BHVR can finally start balancing the game. Balancing the game now with all the different skill levels mixed together in red ranks makes zero sense and will not bring any usable results.. With our current matchmaking I was versing potatoes after potatoes after the MMR test ended. Stats would show BHVR they need to buff survivors instantly ;)
Honestly, it gets quite boring seeing all those content creators with several thousand of hours just destroying regular casual survivor groups one by one. And on the other hand you have SWF groups with combined 20k+ hours doing the same to 99% of the killers they face.
But after the MMR has been running for some time, BHVR's stats will show them, how busted real high-level gameplay in DBD really is and we have a higher chance to get the adjustments we need.
-
I'm beginning to wonder, why almost every DBD player thinks they are part of the top1% and will only play against the sweatiest opponents available...
-
A perk that activates when all gens are done... while playing solo queue? AHAHAHAHAHA... no thx ;)

I really don't like this MMR, I hate it in fact, I hate playing sweaty, I actually had to use pop with Billy which goes against how I play Billy, I had to use ruin with Oni because I have been trying to go for the #1 fastest 4k with Oni (top 10 as of now), when I changed to survivor today, first match was horrible, rank 20 killer, second one was also a rank 20 trickster with 30 hours in the game, 3rd match was a slug fest with a camping huntress, 3 out of 4 of us almost got bled out multiple times while the killer had pop, corrupt and ruin as her 3 main perks.
I hope this doesn't continue like that, I also want chill games for both sides, not a mandatory "use x perks to have a better chance" that isn't fun, I hate exhaustion perks as example, so I have to use one to do better? Do I have to use ruin and pop every game with nurse?
Every player will only start using what is strong because no one wants to lose, we will have the same repetitive stuff every match and it might become unfun.
This is just what I have in my mind and the day that I had with this MMR.
"...I hate playing sweaty... I have been trying to go for the #1 fastest 4k with Oni (top 10 as of now)"
???
contradiction much?

I recently had a random small ttv in my lobby, watched the vod after the game: bubba right behind them, they keep running in a straight line, chainsaw vrmm vrmm, down... "oh, he has a one-hit"... rank5, almost devotion1, had no idea that a chainsaw instantly downs you...
-
Ok, I have to wonder, are these your usual red rank survivors? Did these games take place on NA servers by any chance ;) ?
First game: survivors did zero gens, ok, one when the game was already over. Weak perks and equipment.
Second game: 2:20 for the first gen, then they need another FIVE minutes for the next gen; one meta build survivor.
You could had played add-on less trapper or... one-handed without headphones, the outcome would have been the same. The survivors lost by not even trying to play the objective.
Third game: Ok, maybe half of their teams at least knows what a generator looks like and they know what the meta perks are. But still, second gen popped after 4 minutes. Four minutes for two gens?
No amount of map pressure will generate those gen times, this is on solely the survivors.
I know a lot of people rank Trickster lower than he deserves. He is not D, E or even F tier. I'd say he is around Clown level: one chase power, some outplay at pallets and no map mobility.
But these games you uploaded, man, be happy about the server and the time of day you are able to play ;)

Yes he was, from getting across the map to downing a healthy survivor with one hit, there were many people that would spam his attack for that one hit down even when the survivor was in their face and it would be more convenient to just go for the hit instead.
Now people must better consider when to use his ability, he had too much going for him to be left without a cooldown to his ability.
"even when the survivor was in their face and it would be more convenient to just go for the hit instead"
Why go for the m1-hit when you are playing a one-hit-killer? That's like Bubba m1'ing someone instead of using the chainsaw. Of course the Billy is going to use his chainsaw when right behind a survivor, why wouldn't he? I don't understand.

There is nothing in the game -- perk or add-on -- that I consider toxic, from either side of the table.
When I play killer, I run against BNP's, keys, syringes, etc. all the time -- none of that is "toxic". They're simply game mechanics being used by the survivors to achieve their goal of escaping. Same with flashlight builds, body-blocking, sabo builds, etc. All of those are strategies in the game survivors can use to keep themselves alive and escape -- not toxic.
The same goes from the other end -- when I play survivor, nothing a killer runs -- even a Mori -- do I consider "toxic". Playing a Stridor Spirit, or you're a Nurse /Oni slugging away with Infectious Fright, or an Undying/Ruin Blight or a Tombstone Myers? All part of the mechanics of the game, and none of that is "toxic".
PEOPLE are toxic -- not the game, or mechanisms in it.
