There is no solo queue, which is the root of most of DBD's problems. As long as SWFs and solo players are in the same queue, one player group has to pay the price.
-
Game is not balanced because
- no real match making system, because queue time is valued as more important than balanced matches
- survivors are split into solo and swf, a gap that’s been ignored for over six years and simply cannot be closed, no matter what kind of mechanics are going to be implemented
- killers are not equally strong: Trapper - Nurse. Another gap that was not solved in over six years
- RNG: this is the one flaw I could live with

"bald guy with glasses" You mean Ash. Everyone missed him when he left DbD for another BHVR project.
Yeah, I thought his name was Ash but was not sure because of Evil Dead ;) And yes, he was a very good dev for DBD

Where did they say that?
I only know the players calling him like that. Since 2017... Quite clear that he is not the "most balanced Killer" anymore a few years after that, if Killer became so much easier over time.
@Topic:
Yeah, this is true. Billy is really fun to play and play against, if they are decent. Would still be nice to not have to use Shadowborn on him to have an enjoyable experience tho..
Of course in one of their old dev streams. It's long gone from twitch. Might have been during a Q&A segment with McLean and either Cote or the bald guy with the glasses (McLean still had hair back then ;) ), can't remember exactly.
-
BHVR once had the exact same opinion, calling him their most balanced and well-made killer... then patch 4.1 happened and Billy became an endangered species in DBD.
-
How to know if someone is completely new to the game:
When Legion, Wraith and Ghost Face are the "easiest and best killers to use if you want to win"...
-
Yeah yeah, all those bad toxic killers... It's almost like if one readies up as the killer all empathy gets stripped off of them and every human being becomes a merciless killing machine whose only aim is to make every game miserable and unfun... and boring.
Bad bad killers...

The killer I ran into found everyone almost instantly I'd say, we're talking two story maps and knowing exactly where they are from across the map. It's a handicap ability, a participation trophy ability.
So,... one game? You went one game against a killer running whispers... out of how many games?
Whispers, that gives me backflashs to 2016, always used to run it on my Billy, it was so good. Don't get me wrong, still a decent perk but nowadays there are so many perks that are better at its job. Whispers is just too slow in today's DBD. Could need an update after six years.
Just to make sure, it was one game, correct?
-
Nono, I'm completely with you. I've been playing this game since 2016, seen every dev stream in the first 2/3 years or so (until they became meaningless PR streams containing no actual information) and clocked in several thousand hours.
There have been so many bug-filled game breaking updates, so many questionable decisions, meaningless test builds, prove that their QA is just helpless against their spaghetti code... seeing people being so hopeful to get transparancy and and explanations for BHVRs thought process is just sad... and funny at the same time ;)
-
LMAO, you are funny... actually, this is quite sad tbh
-
What saddens me more than the actual endgame chat is the amount of people on this forum that defend such behaviour.
-
You seem stressed out by DBD. May I redirect you to this thread instead
-
"Perhaps we could have others chime in who are more interested in having a balanced experience?"
I see, you are just looking for an echo chamber to support your claims.
Btw, GrimReaperJr1232 just stated facts and explained how blight's rush works ingame, no reason to get so offensive...

DC's should count. A lot of people DC when they get first downed by a Nurse, for example.
Not including DC's... is wrong
ROFL you are a funny guy. Good one, really good one :D

But if you are not supposed to win, you are just a point-provider for the Killer. I know that some people would love it and dont see Survivors as anything else, but if you have no chance to win at all in a 3v1, you can rather run to the Killer, suicide and go into the next game.
Yes, get your points and move on to the next game.
Just use some logic. This game is / should be balanced around the 4v1. If survivors are missing 25% of their work force at 5 gens and they still had a decent chance of winning, how would this influence the 4v1?
-
Streamer privilege is just a meme. Streamer is given hatch by the killer - streamer privilege. Streamer gets hard tunneled out first - streamer privilege. See, everything is streamer privilege.

So how do you do that exactly? You understand that 2 people in a lobby can be together but the other two are not right? So you're going to have half the team have 0 access to any information that is given for free while the other 2 have information they cannot communicate to each other.
Simple, the 2 solos get basekit Kindred, the 2 SWF players don't get it.
The solos have no need to communicate the info as the other solo has access to the same information.
One of the SWF players can just tell their friend "hey, I'm going to check the hook, you stay on your gen... hey, killer is camping, can you come over so we can get the save together."
Nothing changes for SWF players. Solos just get more information while SWF keeps their communication. Now we add the long awaited "what are they doing-icons" to survivor portraits and we are on a good way.
-
@Katzengott said:
Stop with the basekit nonsense and just bring Kindred!
Every buff for Solos is another free buff for SWFs.
That's why you implement buffs that are only active if you queue solo.
When you are playing in a SWF, those buffs / basekit features simply don't activate.
This way nobody can complain that they get punished just for playing with their friends.

DS should obviously go back to 5 seconds. And probably receive further Buffs, as long as it is deactivated by progressing the game by any means and deactivated in Endgame.
All current Anti-Tunneling resolves around Endurance. And it does not matter if it is just the base Endurance, or if you have OTR on top or if the Survivor who unhooked you had BT. They are all gone after one hit and the Killer will 100% be safe to pick you up, because even if you have DS (most people dont run it anymore since it is pointless with only 1,7 seconds of distance), it is laughable.
OR we do something more crazy and go for a stuntime which is higher at the beginning of the game but becomes lower during the end. E.g. something like Number of Gens remainingx2.
So a DS-Stun at the begin of the match would be 10 seconds, at the end with 1 Gen remaining, it would be 2 seconds. (And deactivated when all Gens are done, since 0x2 is 0) Personally, I would prefer the 5 seconds...
Dynamic stun time is a really nice idea.
Could also be influenced by how much time one has left on his DS counter when downed or picked up.
Or make it a more dynamic perk by giving survivors the ability to activate it not only when being picked up but anytime while they are on the killer's shoulder.
So you can DS the killer while passing a good window or near a jungle gym and not out the open when you got picked up.
-
Same here.
I still have 60k daily to do. Leveled up Evil Within 5 times - still 0/4
-
Nobody mentioned good old traps under the hook yet? ;)
And the original ruin, those iconic red skill checks.
-
How can Sadako be fun to play?
She's a basic M1 Killer, as much fun to play as Freddy. At least Dredge has some more mechanics you can use during the match.
-
I’m playing late evening, early night on central EU servers, my queue times are back to 10-20 seconds.
-
One must live to tell the tale
-
To crush your enemies. See them driven before you. And to hear the lamentations of their women.
:D
-
Blight, Oni, Nurse, Demo, Huntress - basically any killer that is not a simple M1-killer, power needs to have some kind of mechanical skill involved
runner up: Nemesis - don't know why, but he is just fun
honorable mention: Trickster
sitting on his throne in the retirement home: Billy
-
Maybe not permanent but how about an aura every 20 seconds or so... and just for solo survivors. If people are in a SWF this feature will not work.
-
I generally like Henk's videos but seeing teams play like this in pubs with all their callouts, map directions and stuff is just so cringe, I had to quickly fast forward through the video.
At least, when you play like a comp team in pubs, stick to the common comp rules like unique perks etc... just cringe.
-
Both, suffocation pit and azarov's, are terrible to play.
If you are playing solo and the killer knows what to do... you can gesture at your teammates, teabag them, click click and curse at your screen, you will get 3gen'd no matter what ;)
On the other side, an experienced 4man will break your setup within the first 2 gens done. And then you can have fun chasing them through the middle part.
-
You dont need to nerf swf, bhvr can instead just buff solos. Basekit kindred or bond or bt, but just when you are playing solo.
What they could implement is the no-duplicate perk rule for swf, like basically every tournament has.
-
Devs could buff solo players easily without touching SWFs by simply adding a SWF-flag to players.
If you queue up solo, you get the buffs; if you queue up in a SWF you dont get them, like basekit kindred or bt. This way nobody can complain that SWF got nerfed for "just playing with friends" .
-
I have absolutely no problem with basekit BT.
I only have a problem with the fifth perk slot.
-
Sounds more like the problem are your fellow survivors and not the killer. Can't fix stupid I'm afraid.

This is what happens when they don't balance for high mmr. High mmr killers quit because of the imbalance and then it starts putting those insane groups against lower mmr players because there aren't enough high mmr killers left.
And then we lower the mmr cap to mix stuff up even more because... variety :D

killers are not meant to win and there is no such thing as winning/losing in the game, the game is about the fun of trying to escape or get kills. I play killer as well as survivor, killer is actually MORE fun right now as killers can ruin a survivor's game experience
edit* you don't see MMR rating, so SBMM based on kills/escapes is irrelevent.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2915439#Comment_2915439
I already said why it's wrong, read my full original post.
"killers are not meant to win" - no need for further comments. how do you guys manage to set the bar of entitlement higher and higher
-
RPD - for obvious reasons
Badham - should also be obvious
Asylum- this map is so busted against experienced survivors
Swamp just because of its L/T Walls, the darn piers and everyone running straight to grim pantry‘s main building
Special spots: gas haven and storehouse because their realms are otherwise ok

That's also the problem I'm seeing. They plan to match low mmr players exclusively with each other, which is a very good change, while at the same time throwing some unfortunate mid mmr players into unwinnable trials against high mmr players so they can have "laid back" trials.
Because high mmr survivors are tired of playing only against nurses, blights and a few huntresses. They want to play against trappers and wraiths again.
Four people happy > one unhappy person it seems.

At your skill level though.
Again I'll restate, if someone else can use the same killers that you can't and can perform well with them (whether it be Otz, Scott Jund, any top tier DBD player), then the issue is not the killer. It's your current skill level
If we wanna bring out the big names... Aaron was on a 25 escape streak yesterday... solo. Before that he only got to 20, that streak is on youtube.
So, solo queue is alright I assume? No need to buff solo survivors? Good, I'm glad we agree.
-
Well, DBD always had a matchmaking system. We had the emblem system, the "victory cube" for killers and ranks based on earned BPs.
The only difference now is that we are basically back to the victory cube, just for both sides and your mmr rating is invisible instead of being shown as your rank. Needless to say, the majority of the players back then did not like the victory cube (killer's rank being based only on kills) to say it nicely ;)

@fixdeadhard said:
A gen that pops before you can reach it at start of the match is only because multiple survivors are on it, which is good, as killer you dont want each survivor on a different gen. Completed gens are parts of the map you dont have to go to anymore. Every gen that is done makes it harder for survivors to finish the next gen because its much more easy as killer to pressure the much smaller area. 3 gens in 90 seconds is VERY rare... is it fun? no. is it fair? no. should gen speeds be adjusted because of your 1 game experience that maybe happens 1 in 50 games? definitely no.
3 gens done in roughly 90 seconds is pretty much the norm against decent survivors - doesn't matter if swf or solos, although solos have a higher chance to give the killer a 3gen, but with more experience they learn to prevent this
-
I'm playing several demo games each day. Also started playing trickster a few weeks ago and find him surprisingly funny to play - on my way to p3 him. But... you have to come to low mmr, I have no intention to raise my mmr and keep a close look on my kill count. See you in the fog :D

You got it all wrong. Killers shouldn't run 4 slowdown Perks because that's "op" and "unfun"
Nono, 'unhealthy' is the current fotm, 4 slowdown perks are 'unhealthy' for the game. Last month it was 'unfun', before that it was 'oppresive' :D

I had a baby wraith who could not uncloak. I pallet stunned him so he could get out but even standing still he would miss most attacks. It was painful to watch as my teammates who were obviously closer to my game play (I am an average survivor who gets Iri 1) start to bully this wraith and not bothering to even try to finish gens. I finished the last four gens and opened the gate. The three of them got slugged by NOED and hooked and I left them there. Karama and all that lol. I agree even having a new player on the MMR system means they can get placed with us who is not new is just unfair.
The worst part about this is the fact, that this wraith got 3 kills. So… from BHVR’s point of view, that player needs to be placed in a higher MMR bracket… and we need to nerf wraith, again.

I just had my first killer game today and it was just miserable. A premade team of rank 1 survivors that bodyblock me and taking hits for eachother. Gens rushed in under 10 min with me chasing them all the time. The game was so stressful and unfun. I think I am starting to understand ppl that use cheats when playing killers. SWF parties should be eliminated from this game and the game would finally be balanced. This is just disgusting.
"Gens rushed in under 10 min" - you mean just under 10 minutes? by todays standard this was quite a long game, see you again when they finish all gens in under 5 minutes ;)
