good suggestions overall!

People always bring up new players and bad players.
New players should not run distortion and sit on gens and behind rocks all the time. They will quickly loose their newbie protection and soon after that they will reach the mmr softcap - they are now thrown into the wild and are not prepared for it. They will be the future "weak links" in a team.
Just like new players should not rely on gen regression or perks like NOED when playing killer. All those perks will influence their mmr in a way, that is not positive for them.
And bad players… well… should bad players really be carried by perks so they stay bad players forever? If you cannot hold your own in a chase for 15 seconds, do you really deserve to win in the end? And people are still wondering why soloQ is as bad as it is?

You are 100% part of the problem I'm talking about. Why are you trying to act like this type of behavior is acceptable? Read the last line again. Read the topic line again. Stop trying to excuse and justify the actions of these people. You think I don't have a mile long list of people I've gotten banned on psn? I get messages for every person I report telling me action has been taken. I WISH I could say the same for this game.
Why are you trying to kill the messenger?
Even if you don't like their answer, that's how things are here in DBD. None of the things you listed are bannable offenses for BHVR. Your reports are only clogging up the support line, maybe they even get removed automatically by some keyword algorithm.
Here is a link to their support page:
https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/articles/4408586353940-Invalid-report-reasons
Regarding PSN messages:
"We do not control anything that happens outside of Dead by Daylight. This includes private Steam messages/groups/names, PS4/XBOX messages, Discord messages, Twitch/social media interactions, etc. Anything that occurs on these platforms must be reported to their respective authorities."Sad truth is, you either deal with it or you move on, your choice. Have a nice day!

A lot of people used Distortion before the nerf because they didn't want to be found or chased. Chases are becoming less enjoyable due to map nerfs and the increasing number of anti-loop killers in the game. I'd rather sit on a gen than engage in a chase that I know won't last long if the RNG of the map is terrible.
Look here, I found the perfect game for you.
Have fun!

Killers now can use their power, being undetectable and survivors are broken and exhausted in there, but still didn't give survivors the ability to leave the void while downed?
Killers can just slug in there because they now another survivor needs to go to pick them up, but oh surprise, killers can know when a survivor enters the void.
Why can't survivors exit the void while slugged?
Why do DBD people always have to bring up "the other side"?
Could have just said "Why can't slugged survivors not leave the void" instead of including completely unrelated whining about killers using their power and being undetectable in there.
-
It’s on the survivor team to make use of those extra 10+10 seconds, they will do nothing on their own.
Add in reassurance, multiples if you are in a swf, and you will literally feel the killers desperation while still continuing to camp.
Just don’t play stupid, use what the devs are giving to you!
This was already possible before, just survivors refusing to make use of 2x60 seconds of hook time against a camper. I was hoping, the announcement of an increase would finally make some survivors realise.

Sorry,
but some players should slowly but surely accept that DBD is not all about chases. I recently had a game in which I was very agile and tactically clever.
I was able to repair at least 3 generators myself and take 3 players off the hook at the same time, including full healing.
It's hard to believe, but that's my style of play. Do Gens, help your buddies and SURVIVE
SURVIVE SURVIVE ...... Does anybody know what that is? SURVIVE ??.....
I think some people don't know.
It's not my job to go into a 1v1 with a killer. Others can do that, but not me, and that kind of playstyle should be accepted. Whether you like it or not.
The endgame chat was a bit surprising for me
me: GG
My Teammates complained about me. I would play with distortion( No, I don't want a debate about this perk ) and hide. I had no right to speak …. crazy or ?
than comes the Killer: My God, you have thousands of hours and not even the balls to go hunting with me ? Running Distortion and hiding all game bla bla.
After that, he got upset again about the number of hours I had spent in the game and then left.
Excuse me? But I survived because I played smart. Few people like that style of play, and that's probably why those people got upset. But that's not my problem
There were no such discussions in 2016. You can take my word for it. What do I want to say with my contribution? Times have changed. Nevertheless, don't let anyone tell you how to play.
Have you also had such experiences? And do you think there is a difference to the past?
Please let me know
Need a bit more details:
How many survivors escaped?
Did only you survive? If yes, escaped through the gate or hatch?
-
They should implement a system similar to the cheater servers in old dark souls games. Let the people who dc frequently only play against each other, then they can have a little race of who dc‘s first.
And if your internet is so bad that you can barely play a match of DBD, play custom games with your friends or a single player game. But do not make other players suffer for your problems.

It does not counter their power.
Imagine if the Onryo could dribble you to MAKE you gain stacks of condemn. She would waste a lot of time, sure, but she could still mori you right out of the game with no counterplay.
Executioner can force you into a cage, whether you perfectly avoid becoming tormented or not.
My solution: Either give the survivor a split-second window of immunity for the game to realize that the survivor is crouching instead of just immediately tormenting them regardless of the crouch button being pressed, OR remove auto-wiggle (let it max out at 99% and let the survivor choose if & when to finish the last 1%).
Ok, one question: How many killers do this?
Answer: One. One killer did this to you, and they propably had a daily or an old tome challenge.
Nobody would waste so much time on dribbling a survivor; and then they have to waste even more time catching that survivor again. Survivors can finish have their gens in the time PH wasted to put you in a cage, a cage on the other side of the map.

If SWF gives no advantages, we can start balancing the game around SWF vs. Killer, right?
Solo queue players for sure would love it.

Instead of insulting op for their apparent "lack of skill", we could actually talk about what they were saying! Imagine that!!
Because they got a point here: If the devs wanted to remove locker saves, why did they leave this in? You would expect grabbing someone out of a locker and grabbing while entering / exiting a locker is essentially the same.
But it isn't, one has blindness protection, the other hasn't. It's perfectly valid to asks about that. No reason to trash talk op for it.
Now look at you, trying to argue with logic and reason in this forum ;) Feels like I saw a unicorn!

Agreed. There needs to be some sort of comeback mechanic in place. 2 or more gens left with 2 survivors is quite literally a guaranteed win in the current game and there’s honestly no point to even trying, just a waste of time currently.
Why?
Why should there be a comeback mechanic in this situation?

This is a perfect case of a less terrible option, and not a good option. But I would agree with the OP it should just be in the game. Plenty have said this feature is already in DBD mobile? I dont play mobile games so I wouldn't know.
As many have pointed out, yea you will have people that dodge lobbies if they see problematic perks... or non meta things etc...
Would also be an issue if you last minute switched your perk to ... outsmart the lobby dodgers, but then you would be stuck with cntrl+alt+del if someone on your team sees you do it lol.
But not having it results in games where you are paired with unnecessary stacked perks like multiple open handed's and what not. Or multiple proves but you dont know who has it until its too late. Or people not understanding someone who brings reassurance/We'll make it, will more likely designate themselves the priority unhooker... Or people that dont have a loadout at all, which ends up in matches that ... you just give up since someone on your team is doing some meme challenge for their viewers that you have no control over.
As I see it, there are more problems of NOT having it than having it in the game. Would rather just deal with the less terrible option than to keep SoloQ in its horrible position that it already is.
Last second switching, but this time survivor-vs-survivor edition, I’m loving it 😁

So you have no numbers, then, outside of a third-party app that varies, sometimes wildly, in accuracy.
Kind of annoying that this needs to be said, but...
It's something
Versus
Absolutely nothing.
You can bicker about how reliable Nightlight is, but it does compile a dataset of actual matches. Unless you have some meaningful fault to point out, you don't really have a leg to stand on, and you don't offer your own data.
Besides, go over your own experience. Does Nightlight's data in regards to the frequency of 2Ks seem all that out-of-the-ordinary?
Yes, „nothing“ is better than data from a somewhat closed community, a small specific part of the whole playerbase, that relies on voluntary data.

The thing is, this is way too many thought for a change like this. If DS gets buffed to 5 seconds, it will not change much. Killers already know that tunneling one person out is the best way to secure a win. Having a DS which is 2 seconds longer will grant the Survivor a bit of distance, but will not really change the Killer tunneling. And on second Hook, DS is not active anyway.
At best, it will help against weaker Killers. But thats about it, every above average Killer will not have much of an issue with DS. As it was before.
I guess many Survivors would equip DS again after it was buffed to 5 seconds, but will drop it once they realize it does not do anything.
Let alone that I dont think that it will be buffed to 5 seconds. 4, at best. And since the Devs want to ensure that Killers are ok with the change (as they do it with every Perk nowadays, trying to not upset Killers in the slightest), I expect either a Killer-Buff with it or something that balances out the buff of DS.

Unless DS grants a decent stun, disables the killer's power for a set time and grants the survivor either haste or endurance, then it's gonna be next to useless.
I don't care if the survivor loses the ability to body block, or deactivates when the survivor touches a gen or the killer hooks someone else. Unless it's strong and can't be nullified by certain killers, then it's gonna be useless.
But like you said, it's gonna have to be approved of by killer players in general, so if it's better than mediocre it's going to be objected to.
Are you guys at least wearing your tin foil hats when posting stuff like this, like there is this secret killer main society in McCotes basement with him wearing dark robes: "Brothers, we are going to buff DS, but no worries we have a plan!"
Or maybe the killer main circle captured his hamster and holds it hostage "You shall not buff DS, here is the little guys small toe"

If survivors are not far better than killers, the chase would not last long enough for 5 Gens to complete, which at least 1, or 2 teammates have to leave Gens to support to keep the tunneled one alive (free Gen pressure by 33-66%, without the need to learn survivors' habit to take shortcut patrol, cut off their running path, suprise incoming distance)
Teammates most of the time, will body block to take hit for tunneled one make extra distance (free hit causing injures pressure, without the need to learn leaving unnecessary chases, mind game to earn a hit)
The first chase alone should last long enough for 2-3 gens to be finished, depending on killer perks and spawn locations (except against a cracked Nurse, ok). The full map is available to the survivor, all the ressources, WoO + propably one exhaustion perk.
I wonder how some SOLO teams manage to do this, even against killers with thousands of hours, even on stream? Killrate must be over 90%.
And body blocks are a whole other story. I've seen so many survivors f*** this up, like trying it in the wide open when the killer can just run around them, running BEHIND the killer for a minute or longer and the tunneled survivor entering complete panic mode, running around like a headless chicken. Or survivors even going down, giving the killer immense free pressure that can never be undone.

That's completely not true. You can learn all you want but killers are going to tunnel its a much easier game 1v1v1v1 vs 1v1v1v1v1. Contrary to you're beliefs I don't know if you are new but unless you are in a swf this game is not a team game.
If it is not a team game, can we get rid of SWF, or put them into a seperate queue? Just asking for a friend.

I'm with you, although I think buffing DS is not enough. We are talking about a licensed perk after all. So basically new players would need to buy the Halloween dlc and unlock DS quickly or they're thrown to the wolves.
The base kit BT effect could use some work (no collision with the killer) so that OTR becomes a better option too and it might be necessary to add further base kit mechanics like a 3 seconds DS.
Or just make basekit BT not trigger deep wound,... but this will get abused by body blocking, so yeah, loosing collision is the better way to go!

Bare minimum would be to put DS back to 5 second stun. They should also have increased the hook timer to 90 seconds to combat tunneling and camping both, to make killers choose between giving up gens to focus one person out of the game.
Neither of those changes does anything whatsoever of the killer isn't tunneling, and can't be 'weaponized'. Go patrol gens, interrupt gen progress and chase someone else. You know, progress the game instead of just waiting for an unhook to chase that one guy you happened to find first.
ETA: The current only play against tunneling is to gen rush. That's it, that's the entirely of 'playing well' for 3/4 of the survivor team during a hard tunneling killer match.
Yes, stick to gens, use the 60 seconds of hook time!
No incentive will reduce tunneling, buffed DS will not reduce tunneling (but I still hope it will get a decent buff), 90 seconds hook time will also not reduce it. It will make camping less efficient but instead increase tunneling. The danger of loosing the match will reduce tunneling.
And survivors can already do that, they are just too... sorry, to dumb, that's it.

Yes, if people would just stick to gens instead of hiding near the hook, ready to unhook instantly once the killer walked 2 meters away. So hard to learn, 6 years have not been enough time...

@Yharwick said:
Real talk if you're found first don't be afraid to predrop pallets sometimes if you know you're not gonna be left alone the rest of the game.
I play every game like I'm against Oni and it works for me, if they wanna tunnel I'm gonna make it as difficult as possible for them so even if they do tunnel me out by the time it happens the gens are done. If I'm lucky I frustrate them to the point of leaving me alone.
That's how you do, if the killer wants to tunnel you, make it as difficult for them as possible. WoO is the most used survivor perk, but apparently auras are to difficult to understand for most players.
Now all your teammates have to do, is pressure gens. If they dont, they are the ones at fault. There should never ever be a survivor dead at 4 to 5 gens.
-
A tunneling killer puts no pressure on gens. If survivors are too afraid to do gens, well...
Yes, killers can bring perks to delay gens, but survivors can bring stuff to speed up gens, extend chases and increase survival.
A killer that wants to tunnel will always keep an eye on the hook and a hook stage takes 60 seconds. There is no need to unhook within 5 to 10 seconds, especially if the killer is still near. There is also no need to heal directly under the hook, get some distance and heal inside the next jungle gym. Even killers that dont tunnel immediately will return to the hook if they dont find anyone else.
Why does the killer not find anyone else to chase? Because even nowadays in most matches 2 survivors are instantly hiding near the hook as soon as the killer picks up. Again, no gen pressure. And dont try to convince me otherwise, I've been running Bond nonstop for over 6 years. Stick to your gens!
One last thing, survivors are at their stongest at the beginning of the match and WoO is the most popular survivor perk. There is no excuse to hide for minutes at the start until the killer finds someone else, this is lost time to pressure gens that the survivors will never get back. Somebody will get found, use this time when you are most powerfull.
Against decently experienced survivors, a hard tunneling killer should get one kill, maybe another during endgame. But one survivor dead at 4 or 5 gens, that's the survivors fault.

And me and many of people are just keep telling them we are not happy with their bad balance decisions.
You have to realize, you and "many" others are just a small, miniscule part of their playerbase. Even all people on their forums together are negligable. BHVR has lost their "small indie dev team" status years ago.
They became a company like many others.
They look at revenue numbers. Are people still paying for their game, DLCs, skins and battle passes? Then everything is fine, no need to invest precious resources into things, that small a part of their customers complain about. Heck, the people distributing most of these resources aren't even the actual devs. Its the CEOs, investors, finance and marketing people.

I've not been talking about that. The killer will naturally go for someone they can see if they can't see anyone else, even if that survivor was the most recent unhook. If I hooked someone, and went back after the unhook and couldn't find the unhooker... or ANYONE else but the one who was hooked, is it tunneling? This is where perspective comes in. I feel a logical mind would say no, its just the rng of the match. I wouldnt expect a killer to just ignore me while looking for someone else if I'm literally the only one he can find.Others would probably not agree, and just beat 'tunneling!' claim into the ground despite circumstance. Humans being humans.
What I wouldn't accept is the killer trying to frame it as a reasoning of anything but rng. I didn't try to tunnel in my example. But the survivor(s) would still claim as such, simply because its convenient. Even if they understood the situation, I would still be called a tunneler. So in essence, killers are kind of stuck and get more flack than is probably called for. But the community makes it what it is due to.... humans being humans.
Hope that clears my view a bit. Not a positive view of humans being humans, but anyway! Now, jumping forward, trying to link your choice to tunnel to something like genrushing is bad form. Anyone with 100+hours likely knows the term tunneling, genrushing, etc, so in the rare cases people are ignorant of these things, eh, I guess it happens! More rng from our lady Entity.
I appreciate you being civil! :) Can I clear anything else up from my position? This felt very much like a conversation and not a us vs them! Ty @Hermit
I can live with that, yes. But I never connected tunneling to genrush, but that's propably because the thread went on for too long.
Also, definately no us vs. them here, no worries. I've been playing this game since nurse release on both sides, although the usual BM made me switch to survivor a lot more ;)

No, but the sum of all the points i mentioned might be. We dont know how often survivors escape through hatch, how often killer stay afk or farm and especially, we dont know how often survivors dc in an already lost game. Like i said, speculation.
From my personal experience both killer and survivor, there are not many if any DC's or Hook suicides, unless it is Skull Merchant so i think it is quite an inflated topic that is at the very most in the low one digit numbers.
Ok, I really hope, your personal experience stays like thus. Have fun in your games and cherish it.

That the real escape rates are different? Speculation.
Stats also dont count DC's on survivor part (also survivor losses, but they are nullified), they do count hatch escapes while technically it should be a 4K, they do count farming or afk killer, they do count friendly killer giving hatch or free escapes.
It is quite possible that escape rates are even lower.
Really know? You really think the number of farming or afk killers is higher than the number of matches in which a survivor gives up on first hook 30 seconds into the game - which is basically equal to a DC?

is other survivors. Period. Especially in solo queue.
I know playing survivor is supposed to be a team thing, but anyone that has played this game for very long as a survivor knows that isn't happening unless you go in with a 4 man SWF. The amount of survivors that screw over the rest of the team (either intentionally or through ignorance) is far too high. There is a good chance you are going to be paired with at least one (or more) of these type survivors in every match.
It's the reason, even as a survivor main, I can't ever bring myself to say a particular killer, killer power, or killer perk is OP on these forums. The most OP power every single killer has is stupid, lazy, and selfish survivors. The percentage of matches where I get killed due to the play of other survivors is a significantly larger percentage than the percentage I am killed due to the skill of the killer.
I'm not knocking killers when I say that. I play against some very skilled killers. I'm just saying there are a lot of matches where killers don't need hardly any skill because survivors willingly hand them easy kills with the way they play.
Sadly facts that most people dont want to hear and choose to ignore.

Yeah, survivors are escaping most times but yet, stats are telling very different story. On all levels, killers are performing better than survivors.
The only exception is high mmr 4-man SWF but even they are giving 2 kills every match. And we are talking about best teams here.
Other SWF teams on all levels just dying most times.
So you really need to stop this excuse because stats are not proving your point. If you are losing that much as killer maybe it's you. Because as killer, i don't have that much trouble. If you are winning most of your games as killer, so i don't know how you are believing survivor is power role lol. Which one?
If you are bringing up the recent stats, please keep in mind, stats are almost where the devs want them to be. And they are including games in which the first survivor gives up on their first hook. So the real escape rate in games, in which nobody is throwing a tantrum for whatever obscure reason, is much higher.

Do you really blame my teammates who gave up in my last match? 4,948 hour Blight running Pain Res, UW, Corrupt, and Deadlock. Like what are we supposed to do against that?
Depends on your teammates and how good MMR was working. Propably going to be a tough game but with 4 5k hours survivors doable; maybe not a 4man escape but a few could make it out. Also, 4948 hours of playtime does not equal 4948 hours on Blight.
