Please; lets discuss about this perk I made. (yes the icon is made by me lol)

Why do survivors need to be rewarded for simply playing the game? I thought the reward for playing the game is escaping and getting bloodpoints? Gen speeds are already fast enough, no need to make them any faster, and what happens if multiple people run the perk at the same time?

  • @GannTM said:

Ok I really need to let this out because this really made me mad. So, I went to q in as killer and one of the survivors burnt a Haddonfield offering with two Object of Obsessions. Keep in mind that I was playing Trickster because I just wanted to try him out on live for the first few times as terrible as he is. I ended up getting 3 hooks the whole match as I was able to hook both Objects once. The fact I was able to do that is pretty impressive. Ended up getting no kills. I was thinking about camping one of them until they died but I really didn't want to be that guy so of course my soft self wanted to play nice and get away from the hook. I of course got t bagged at the gate and the survivors were holding my game hostage.

This is one of the few matches I've ever had that actually made me so pissed that I legit felt like quitting. It's not the fact that I got destroyed because I have had plenty of games in the past I got destroyed because the survivors were just good at the game and/or I wasn't playing well. If you ever want to feel like you just feel so helpless and have no control over anything, go ahead and experience what I went through.

I just want to ask, why do you people feel the need to ruin other players' experience? What makes it fun to intentionally give killers a hard time? I'm not pointing any fingers or calling anyone out, I just really want to know why this is so fun to you.

This is why no matter what side you play as, you can't really give much thought or care about the experience for the other side. It makes no sense in a 4v1 game to care about each other when you have vastly different goals.

However, solo survivors can't coordinate who will use it. You might have everyone using it or no one using it, we can't see who's going to take the perk. You cannot expect solo queue players to coordinate who will use what perks, so either no one will use it or multiple people will use it (inefficient). It's a literal mess.

Killers on the other hand, can just play nice to avoid DS. No perk required AND they can tell if there's a potential DS in the game based on obsession mechanics. Survivors can't tell if there's NOED, there's no indicator at all.

If anyone is concerned about NOED and doesn't make any attempt to counter it then that's their own fault. You can't tell if there's a DS solely by the obsession mechanics, since there's other obsession perks too. Sure survivors don't know if there's noed but you can't complain about it while not doing anything to counter it when you have the means to do so.

Don't know why you're so aggressive, but not surprised. I know how to play solo que, but it's not an enjoyable experience hence why I prefer swf (2-4 man) so much more.

You're trying to sugarcoat the issue of the solo que experience. I don't think NOED is OP at all, but most people keep forgetting solo que is 10x harder if the killer does so happen to bring NOED. Good for youuuu, if you don't find the experience miserable. Here's a medal and a cookie.

He's literally not being aggressive in the least bit, he's simply saying if he can do it then so can everybody else that continues to complain about this perk with many different counters. It doesn't take much for anybody to use Small Game(free perk) to destroy totems until the perk doesn't work anymore.

  • @scenekiller said:

Speaking as a survivor main, the DS change was needed, for sure. However, it doesn’t do virtually anything to prevent tunneling (not that it fully did in the first place)

I suggest, in addition to the conditions set so far (touching a gen/totem/healing someone/etc), DS should remove its timer and be active indefinitely until another person is hooked. Some killers are completely abusing this nerf lately and negating any of the anti-tunneling purposes of this perk by just going on massive slugfests, and something really needs to change.

While not a perfect solution, I believe removing the timer is completely necessary now that the conditions are more strict. And if you aren’t a tunneler, this change should not face any opposition from you.

Killers aren't abusing the new DS because objectively DS hasn't changed from before the patch, now you cant use it to gain free progress. It was never meant to be a way to say that the killer can't hook you again until you deem appropriate, it gives you another chance to try and win in chases against the killer. At a certain point the killer isn't tunneling but just doing their job, killing survivors.

  • @NMCKE said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2082299#Comment_2082299

However, in solo queue, you'd require everyone to use a perk that might not be needed because the killer isn't using NOED. Killers don't have to use perks to counter DS, a perk survivors might not be using in the first place.

Edit: And killers can tell if survivors are using DS based on whether or not there's an obsession in game.

It doesn't even require everybody bring it, just one person. If people took the time to be that "one person" instead of using the same meta perks that you always see in matches then noed wouldn't be a problem. Im saying if anyone is ever worried about noed then they can always prevent it from even happening in the first place, but time and time again you see complaints about it.

  • Honestly a totem counter isn't even needed, if you bring small game you just keep destroying totems until it doesn't notify you anymore.

  • @MadLordJack said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2082140#Comment_2082140

No, because you're forcing the survivors off of their objective.

Now, if they were simple stealthing around and you were looking for them, then they would be holding the game hostage, because now they aren't trying to do their objective and are simply preventing you from doing yours.

I cant keep all 4 survivors off of 3 gens forever. If its come to a point where you wont sacrifice anything to progress the situation then that's not my fault.

  • @Grandpa_Crack_Pipe said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2082140#Comment_2082140

When survivors hide in lockers and don't do gens for 20 minutes, the killer isn't doing anything so you can say he's holding the game hostage.

I understand trying to use reverse logic on someone but this was a bad example, you said yourself, "survivors hide in lockers and don't do gens for 20 minutes" they are the ones not doing anything to progress the game its not like the killer can do gens.

  • @MadLordJack said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2082113#Comment_2082113

It becomes an invalid strategy and simply holding the game hostage when you don't try to do anything else. When you hit someone, you don't follow up. When you chase someone, you don't try to catch them, you simply stop at your perimeter. That is holding the game hostage, because you aren't trying to complete your objective.

At the same time, the survivors aren't doing anything else so you can say they're holding the game hostage.

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

    Seriously.

This perk is incredibly strong, and manages to regularly affect more than one survivor at a time (especially when it’s so expectedly paired with Agitation).

You can make every attempt to not be grouped up and still get exposed each and every time Starstruck procs. And 30 seconds isn’t exactly short either. Anything else in this game that Exposes survivors have far heavier restrictions.

So I pose the question, is it’s current cool down too short?

I guess not since they even lowered the cooldown between ptb and live.

  • @MadLordJack said:

It's amazing how many people consider a 3-gen a valid strategy and ignore just how many killers will do nothing but defend it and will never chase or down anyone unless they are in their little slice of territory.

That's not a valid strategy. That's holding the game hostage. Because you are not trying to complete your objective at all, you're simply trying to stop your opponents from completing theirs.

But if it works how is it not a valid strategy? The survivors shouldn't let themselves be put into the situation to begin with. The game can be progressed but it seems like they didn't want to try so idk if that's the killers problem or the survivors. The only holding hostage the killer can do is by body-blocking in a corner, any other action will be ended after a certain amount of time. Me stopping my opponents from doing their objective isn't something i should do?

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

“Why would you use Babysitter instead of BT?!”

You don’t. Or just use both.

Babysitter is NOT meant to be a substitute for BT. Babysitter’s help as an anti camping tool is MEANT to be marginal.

Babysitter serves 2 unique purposes that other perks cannot do.

1). It tells YOU, the rescuer, if it’s is safe enough to heal at the hook or not. If you do not see the killer immediately returning to the hook, try to heal at the hook for the sake of time efficiency.

2). Babysitter is meant to help counter the type of killer behaviour whereby the killer doesn’t actively camp the hook, BUT always returns to a hook immediately when a rescue occurs. You are meant to be a distraction that takes aggro AWAY from the rescued survivor so they have a chance to disappear. Even if the killer ignores you, the only scratch marks they will see around the hook are yours.

“But I could just wait till I hear the TR, and then rescue them to give them BT”

It is better to give a teammate a higher probability of disappearing before the killer gets close enough, rather than wait till the killer is close enough for a BT activation. BT doesn’t necessarily stop tunnelling, it simply buys a camped survivor more time. If a killer hits an unhooked survivor with Endurance, but still decides in persisting to tunnel them, there’s nothing stopping them. So if the choice is between helping a teammate disappear entirely, or take an additional hit yet still be hassled, Babysitter is 100% the better choice against a killer NOT camping, but rushes back to the hook almost all the time.

To be 100% CLEAR I want to state that I’m not saying Babysitter is better than BT. I’m saying they serve drastically different purposes. As anti camping measure, BT shines best. For the two intended purposes of Babysitter i’ve posted here, BT cannot provide help with these 2 aspects.

Its like survivors have options to help someone being camped but they just never bring them and then complain that they have no options.

I don't know what survivors you face but the only time I get a 3 gen is because the survivors are potatoes. Anyone survivor with a decent amount of playtime, swf or random, knows not to do all the gnes on one side of the map. I can chase them off a gen or kick it with pgtw but I can't guard gens and chase survivors at the same time. There's 4 survivors and only 1 killer. Like I said earlier. If even 3 survivors take one of the 3 gen they will complete it.

Its almost like survivors just don't try anymore or something and expect to be let out of the match. If its come to a point where we blame killers for trying to win by being "sweaty", "try-hard", or even blaming them for "holding the game hostage" what's the point of playing killer anymore.

    Ahhhh...

This right here should be a war crime. He was running surveillance and over charge and NOED for some reason.

He basically chose his 3 gen at the start of the match and did nothing but glue himself to it, we all tried to break it at the start. We were on one of the pre school maps and he had a easy 3 gen layout.

It was definitely a change of pace but in the worst possible way. The match went on for about 40 mins until I sacrificed myself after getting a head ace. Someone brought in a key and all 3 escaped.

I understand there’s a strategy in there, but when he wasn’t committing to any chases or even hooking, what is the point. Best suicide I’ve even done.

Sounds like none of you gave up any hook states or anything. He did nothing to hold the game hostage, the only reason you all were in the game that long is because you all decided you just had to leave at all costs. Its funny how you only showed the killers score and nothing else, that just seems a little fishy to me.

Don't know if they deserve it or not, I can see both sides of that one, but I will say that I don't know why someone would be paying that much attention to another survivor in the first place. I also don't get the logic of making things harder for your own team. They may not be contributing anything if you don't see them doing so, but you're guaranteeing that they won't be if you take it upon yourself to remove them from the game.

If you arent helping the team escape you're making things harder for the team. If everybody is on death hook except for you and you didn't help us get gens done why should you live? There's been plenty of times where I've seen a meg walking the entire map, to save sprint burst, not touching a gen when she has more than enough time to at least try and you're saying she deserves to get away?

  • If im playing and i never see you doing gens, making saves, or healing and the only thing you're doing is crouching around without being hooked im gonna rat you out and you deserve it.

If survivors tried to bait a camping killer away, it would be a 4k. This is bad strategy against a camping killer. If the survivors do gens, it will be a 2k.

But either way, a player being able to totally stop another player from playing the game is a major flaw in the game.

Not really when the killers sole job is to kill and take people out of the game.

Do you have selective reading or something? I say one thing and you counter argue with something I'm not even talking about. At no point was I saying I have the right to harass someone, be racist to them, etc. The only thing I ever argued was that it's my right to read what I want. Nothing you just linked said bhvr has the right to determine if I'm allowed to read something or not. It seems like you just want to argue about what people are allowed to say which is NEVER want I was talking about.

My point is that NO ONE should be spouting hateful/racist things for anyone to see, even if you want to.

  • @FrenziedRoach said:

My own solution, offer BP bonuses for playing the side of the game that needs numbers.

If the ratios are off by a certain amount, give the side that needs numbers a BP bonus for playing the needed side.

    For example

When there are 5 survivors for every killer, or 3 survivors for every killer, offer a 20 percent BP for picking the under populated side.

This is what a lot of dungeon-matchers will do in some MMO's when a certain class like healer or tank is missing - they'll offer an exp bonus for playing the needed class.

Honestly that would be perfect since it'd give them a chance to flex the statistics they always talk about.

And I'm saying that is none of anyone's business but mine. I don't mean to sound hostile when I say this but: who do you think you are to tell me what I should and shouldn't be able to read/see/etc? That is my business not yours, not bhvrs, not my parents, not Biden's, no one's but mine. If you want a filter then that is absolutely your right to have, truly I don't think less of anyone who wants to use one, but just like it's your right to have one it's my right to NOT have one. No one has the right to tell me what I'm allowed to read except me.

    Capture+_2021-04-03-16-32-38.png

Since you agree to play the game under BHVR terms of service.

You realize me turning off MY chat filter has no effect on anyone but me right? Do you even know what these filters do?

Yeah i realise that, but im saying no one needs to read those things while playing a game, its better to just get rid of that toxic stuff. Like why would anyone want to read hateful/racist things?

  • @HollowsGrief said:

The fact that none can turn it off make's it ridiculous. Optional chat filters are a great thing, mandatory filters are bullshit, I'm a grown ass adult, if I want to read hateful/racist/whatever the hell else I want then that is my prerogative and no one else's business. It's really getting tiresome of all these "people" in current year thinking they can tell other people what they are allowed to see/read/speak/etc.

And just because you can say whatever you want doesn't mean other people should have to see it. The chat filter makes that possible.

You said accidentally. I did not. Tapping a gen is NOT "Working on a gen". Its tapping it. Working on it requires it to progress. Its been a thing since day 1 release to tap the gen to stop it from regressing. This is a strat, like tunneling, camping and slugging. All 3 have specific perks(albeit mostly useless). You wanna stop Gen tapping, use Ruin.

DS has a specific niche, because its the ONLY Anti tunneling perk. I don't even use it but seriously, tapping a gen shouldn't deactivate it. That's as bad as punishing the killer for camping. Which is a legit strat even tho i cant flippin stand it.

Tapping a gen is putting progress into said gen. If it wasnt then gen tapping when old ruin was a thing wouldnt have worked. If its just a tap whats to say that tapping it over and over again until completion isnt you working on a gen?

  • Survivors want to play the game but so many of them like to point blame and shame the killers that do play when they die by said killers. That makes nobody want to play killer so we have 20m queue times for survivors.

  • @DragonMasterDarren said:

if the emblems weren't borked i'd have no problems with it, but right now you can't get chaser points by downing with Knives, which i spam to no end, so i am not bothering with it till it's fixed

Its exactly the emblem system. Its so old and not a good representation on what happens in the match. Chases award points on killers hitting the survivors, common chases are 2 hits for 2 points. Some killers use their power and avoid doing 2 hits, so why are they punished for it?

  • Tunneling a player out of the game is like choosing between finishing a gen at 60% vs starting a new gen with 0%. I know which one is the easier one to get done so why wouldnt i.

  • @SnowMiser said:

Tunneling doesn't exist. It is not a thing that happens.

What survivor players refuse to understand is if you are closer to being removed from the game, you are a high priority target. Especially if your jackass friends are playing hyperaltruistic, because that means it'll be easy to bait them into making a stupid play and getting you both killed. That's not 'tunneling' or 'toxic' or whatever the ######### else, it's target prioritization.

Right, if i as a killer player see you're not good and can down you easy then ill do that till you're dead. Cant blame me for killing the weak link, they have to learn to play better.

  • @DemonDaddy said:

I find that it's the survivor's responsibility to avoid the killer and win each chase. The killer is playing for their enjoyment and is not responsible giving additional chances to use against themselves. If your camped, it's because you failed. If your tunneled, you failed and are now on your final chance to win a chase.

Exactly and if you feel so bad about being tunneled just let go and move on, the option is there.

You've been actively saying camping is trash and garbage and when anyone calls you out on it, you go back and say "well I don't complain about camping because blah blah blah everyone else needs to suck it up". That is what you've been doing in literally almost every comment you've made. Obviously I know you have a vendetta and you're in need of a therapy session, but the least you could do is stick to your story. This is getting stupid and it's because you can't make up your mind between "camping sucks" and "I've never complained about anything, ever".

But im the unreasonable one. Also in not one of my posts have i tried to attack them, yet they come off as pretty hostile every reply.

You keep giving killers a pass for "playing the game" while you don't give any opposite viewpoints of any of your arguments.

    Frankly, I have.

I can't stand both survivors and killers playing unsportsmanship-like and I call them out for it.

You and many others, on the other hand keep covering bad actions made by killers with all these excuses.

Oh, camping is fine cuz we deserve kills.

Oh, tunneling is fine cuz we need to kill in order to win.

    etc etc

So tell me then, what is smth that killers do that should be prevented?

I would really like to hear from someone who finds none of the actions done by killers reprehensible.

I give killers a pass for just playing the game just like i dont care how survivors play the game. Both sides have different goals, i dont care or go out of my way to complain when survivors escape but they always complain when i kill them. You keep acting like killers killing is unsportsmanlike and automatically bad when its not. Doing gens and eacaping is just fine and ill never condem survivors for it since that's their end goal, i expect them to view killing the same way. There is nothing that killers can do that survivors cant counter, i expect them to find the best way to handle each situation and adapt because that's all i ever do as killer.

You take this pretty seriously don't you?

Also, what do you mean they have nothing else to do?

Is camping their ONLY option? If they don't camp do they get kicked out of the game by the system?

Get out of here with that BS, buddy.

I can't tolerate soft-minded BS like that and it ticks me off.

They ARE doing it out of desperation. You can spin it however you want it to.

You think I've never been in that situation before?

I lose. Boo hoo. Too bad.

Just queue up for the next match for god's sake.

And they say survivors are entitled. Oh, the irony.

Taking it seriously, no im just trying to stop the constant disrespect killers get for just playing the game. What do you suggest killers do in that endgame situation? It seems like you want to say that they cant do anything, shouldn't let themselves be put in that situation in the first place, and should let all survivors escape. Im not spinning things in any kind of way, you seems to have a personal vendetta against camping and nothing can change your mind. If someone dies from camping just load into the next match for gods sake. But if i say that it's me being a toxic butthurt killer right?

  • @Kolossoni said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2075318#Comment_2075318

Well, since you barged in a conversation you wouldn't have gotten the context of that "hissyfit" argument.

To recap, I was comparing tantrums to camping when killers become desperate for any kills near the end when they have done miserably during the match.

I don't find normal camping to be tantrums at all. Just poor decision made by dumb killers.

Alright so im gonna stop you right there, no one barged into anything. This is a public forum and i can see the context of conversations just fine. In the context of camping during endgame the killer literally has no other objective aside from the person on the hook. It's not desperation its just a fact that they have nothing else to do so why try and shame them for it?

  • @Kolossoni said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2075269#Comment_2075269

No harm to you, of course. After all, you're not being hooked and losing the game right?

And regarding camping being the "best" option. Sure, it can be, but it doesn't mean it's not a hissyfit.

A child wants a toy, and it knows throwing a tantrum in public will secure it, cuz it always works.

Of course, the child is happy and will ask "what's wrong with me using a viable option to secure what I seek?", but for the parents and the people around it will probably sing a very different tune.

Being hooked is expected from the survivor side tho. Again camping is not throwing a tantrum, throwing a tantrum is survivors yelling at the killer for doing their only job, killing survivors. Survivors are never not able to save anyone being camped, so why do they get mad everytime? Children don't know any better so sure people will appease the child to not make a scene. This however is a game where death is a constant and survivors goal is to TRY to eacape, but when they cant and are defeated they accuse the other side of not playing by the rules.

It doesn't help when I'm trying so desperately hard to make Trickster work and all four survivors are basically invincible and impossible to down because the killer is so horrendous and because they're so hard to catch, they get cocky and start tbagging.

Spirit Stridor is really therapeutic, maybe I should do it some more.

Like i never want to resort to using the absolute best killers possible because i like pushing low tier killers to their limits and showing that they can compete. Its when im playing weaker killers and then survivors try to bully me for no reason that i bust out the big guns and then get met with "tryhard". There's no winning when i play killers cause when i do good they give up and it feels hollow but when they slam gens they tell me to get good.

  • @Kolossoni said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2075227#Comment_2075227

    They're not entitled though.

    That's my entire point.

No need to camp, no need to throw hissyfits, no need to gloat.

Just try your best and if everything else fails just go to the next match.

You could probably regain your lost BPs in your previously bad games in the next one if you do better.

and if you still can't do that, then maybe he/she doesn't belong in that rank, just saying.

You keep equating the killer camping to them being mad or throwing a hissy fit when its not either. In many cases camping is the best play a killer can make. Its never with the intention to ruin the fun of one side, its just playing the game. Players should always look at being hooked even once can mean death, you're not always going to get 3 hooked. As much as people can play hyper agressive and get 12 hooks, if i choose to defend hooks whats the harm in that?

  • @Kolossoni said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2075171#Comment_2075171

Do you even know what "fair play" means?

If you do, you wouldn't have made that ignorant statement.

There are plenty of times when killers and survivors gave respect to each other, regardless of who won.

That wasn't because they were friends, it's because both acknowledged their prowess and never made the game feel atrocious.

Camping is the complete opposite of that where it makes one side feel much superior than the other with much strategies to counter it.

That's not the same as the aforementioned example now is it?

So we talk about fair play but the killer doing his one and only job to kill survivors is always met with "you're ruining my experience". People shouldn't get so upset about camping and tunneling because im not preventing you from playing the game, its one match where you didnt make it out, load into another one. Just like killers aren't entitled to kills, survivors aren't entitled to escape.

I'm sorry. As a killer, I shouldn't want to win?

Survivors are allowed to do any ######### things they like but killers are expected to throw the game for the benefit of survivors.

Killers cant win, its toxic and unfun. Survivors can do whatever they want and its fun and the killer has to deal with it. Survivor also ask why their queues are so long, i wonder why.

  • Give a watered down version of overcharge as base kit. At least make it so survivor's have to hit a skill check to stop the regression.

It didnt become to weak, weak perks have can be used, ds just became worthless

An opinion, but tell me how it became worthless?

I just felt like saying after the release of the trickster its clear the devs are clueless and this game is slowly dying all it would take is for a similar style game for me to switch over too and I could finally Uninstall the waste of space dbd is proving to become on my hardrive.

If it would how about you go make it instead of complaining about Bhvr's product.

Is it possible that all you trapper fans can find a different way to kill survivors other than the killer shack basement? Then camp the hell out of it waiting to see if a survivor steps on a trap trying to unhook. Yes survivors unhook. That’s what we do. If not people die and the game ends. Please relieve us of our boredom. Find another more creative way to kill us. Maybe even play another killer? Just a suggestion. Thanks.

Don't get caught by the basement against trapper. The basement is a strong location for any killer but trapper especially. Killers kill and you're not entitled to escape. Just letting you know.

How was DS broken? Because it was beneficial to survivors?

Because why do you need to be protected from being hooked when you are actively progressing the game?

Because they should know this is unacceptable, if enough people make it clear that this is unacceptable I would assume that eventually changes will be made. Unfortunately, they really just continue to make either killer sided buffs or changes no one wanted or asked for. No one wanted a change to the UI, no one asked for breakable doors all over every map, or Midwich (self-explanatory). So I assume there won't be many positive changes until another game comes out that draws people away from this one. I am patiently waiting for a comparable option, but there aren't many viable competitors currently.

But people don't understand that BHVR has stated that tunneling and camping are part of the game and not an abusable offense. Yet here we are with this post.

FYI, 5 gens completed does not mean the game is over. The game is over when everyone escapes or dies. I don't understand this mentality that 5 gens = game over....

Please say it one more time!

  • If you can't win against a killer with only 3 perks then noed isn't the problem.

2021, year of still not doing bones...

Cant do bones cause it takes too much time, but also cant do bones in the endgame cause its too dangerous.

I know almost every single totem spawn, what do I need small game for?

And it's still not justification, because by that point it's too late. There's too much risk that the killer just got completely for free.

And it's still a BS argument, that's like going to Old DS and saying "run Enduring"

If you know all the totem spawns then there's nothing to worry about and all 5 totems should be cleansed. Well if its too much risk in the end game, take care of it before it gets to that point. Its not BS, its literally two situations where you can take care of a perk that could not even come into play.
