  • The survivor skins were ok, but the killer skins were very meh. Not terribly interested in having it back vs something new.

I have just tested the chucky killer. And I like it, great overall gameplay, love the typical Chucky comments. I only am not sure about the hooking. I would rather had they chose to carry you by the leg over the floor and hook you on spikes on the ground or something. A bit like Piramidhead uses cages. He should have a unique hooking.

    But beside that,love it

Agreed. Having Chucky drag a downed survivor somewhere would've been wonderful and adorable.

  • It's great that it's back, but holy hell have they weighted the Hawkins map. I've played 17 trials so far today and only one wasn't Hawkins. And that one was the migraine-inducing Borgo, so it wasn't really a break.

They shouldn't turn off map repeat prevention completely for things like this. Relax it a bit so there's more opportunity for for the map to come up (say 2 or 3 out of every ten maps), but having it able to be every trial with no offerings is painful.

  • Long-running server issue that hasn't been fixed yet. Seems to get worse with each update released. It's especially irritating when you get disconnected near the end of the trial, or you lose daily/tome credit.

There's a multi-page thread about it in the bug report section of the forums that's been going on since the start of the year, but no working updates from BHVR.

  • It's been happening several times per play session, every session, for a long while. I've lost count of the number of times a trial is almost over and everyone gets dropped by the server. Everything lost.

It's especially frustrating when you're doing dailies/tomes and all the credit gets eaten.

I had a daily yesterday where I had to play Knight and have the guards hit survivors five times. This is already problematic as the guards are good for zoning but actually hitting someone is a long shot. I lucked out and found an AFK survivor and used them to get 3/5 of the hits before they woke up. Managed to get one more hit near the end of the trial on someone else. Four in one trial! The trial is about to end, and poof, all gone. All five people kicked from the server. Insert rage and colorful language.

Tried all suggestions and methods given in this thread, no change.

  • Any update available for this? Another month has gone by with nothing but silence.

  • Things have been buggy for a bit. Sometime in September my Wraith's MMR got spontaneously boosted through the roof. I went from playing vs roughly on-level survivors to logging in one day to comp-level sweat lords, non-stop. Way beyond what a Wraith can realistically compete against on most maps. No matter how many trials I lost, my MMR didn't seem to move.

I sent in a report and got a form response saying they'll look into it but won't be able to get back to me personally. So far as I know nothing's actually been done. I've had my Wraith mostly in mothballs since, as the Halloween event is unplayable against roid rage genrushers.

I use lightborn with 4 flashlights as well but otherwise I'll use Franklins. No feeling quite like seeing a white ward when running Franklins.

    This. It's just delicious.

Bonus points when they either stop to pick up the flashlight and get downed or run a loop around to pick it up and get downed being out of position. You know they're only in the trial for the blinds, and you can keep knocking the flashlight out of their hands until they DC, then just farm pallets/downs/hooks/survivor finds/chase/gen kicks with the bot(s) until you've maxed points.

  • It's pretty frequent, and has gotten worse (both after the last update and again after the current event started). Full trial drops, everyone punted. Happens randomly, with no obvious specific trigger.

Players have been complaining about it for a while. BHVR has not publicly said anything about it, and in problem reports sent in the individual players tend to get responses back that it's them, not the game.

BHVR seems to be taking the "head in the ground" approach. If they don't see the problem, there is no problem.

  • I like it a lot. I just wish the strong glow element didn't kick in until he was in a chase or using his power, and was more subtle the rest of the time. It's fun to use Insidious and other TR removing/reducing perks with Knight (and some other killers, like Nemesis) for jump scares on survivors, suddenly having this hulking killer appear out of nowhere. It's hard to do that when you're a glow stick.

  • Too big, too cluttered, too many blockages/things to get hung on. For both killer and survivor.

The main house can be an infinite chainable.

  • @Ariel_Starshine said:

We shouldn't, nor should we have a penalty. It's not on the players that the servers are not suitable for sustaining the amount of us that are concurrently using them.

Indeed. If the game client can differentiate that it was a server disconnect or server not responding issue, then there's no reason for any penalties to be given or the game to not refund items.

This is just lazy coding on BHVR's part.

  • Constantly. In my current play session I've had seven, with four of them back-to-back while loading into a lobby. Full lobby/trial disconnects, everyone dropped.

  • STOP IT.png

No idea what you're talking about.

I think there are some special editions where some base chapters are included.

DBD is also pretty often on sale.

But i thought maybe the base game perks of the og chars should already be unlocked for new players. At least at tier 1.

When i think to start a new account now - holy f - the grind to unlock all perks is still massive...

No kidding. When friends see me playing DBD and ask about it I warn them off immediately. At this point the grind is too long, no new mode has been added to the game...ever, the game code (what of it that works) is an antique by online standards, there's no real balance, there's bizarre changes made off and on, and the game's becoming more and more of a cash grab.

I've not seen it activated in any of my Survivor games yet. That said, I tend to Vs tunnellers and proxy campers far more often than face campers (who were never that common in my experience, anyway), so I'd didn't expect there to be much of a difference.

Even though I never camp, I did feel a little anxious when getting too close to any hooked Survivors, especially so if I was in a chase nearby. It's not changed my play style, because I always leave the hook as soon as I can to go find other Survivors, but it does feel like one more thing to have to manage and think about whilst playing Killer, and in that respect doesn't feel so great to play around.

Could be more of a problem for certain Killers. I felt I had to be extra mindful of where I left Charlotte on RPD when I played a Twins game last night. I usually like to leave her near to the main hall, as there's often a lot of hooks clustered around there, so it could be potentially tricky to manage if you have two survivors hooked nearby to each other and gens in the area to protect in that situation.

But it's still new and I'm sure over time that won't be an issue for me.

This brings up an interesting point. If Charlotte is parked and you're running Victor, does Charlotte still count as "the killer" for AFC? Or does Victor not count because he already doesn't count for things like chases?

  • @Mooks said:

Survivor hitboxes are the same injured or healthy so it doesn’t align well with the injured model/animation. That combined with some lag can probably lead to these hits. We do only get lag icons when the connection is very bad, and sadly still no way to see the direct killer ping (survivor pings can be shown in the menu)

Indeed. The original ping system was so much better than what they replaced it with. The newer system is useless as it only shows you're lagging or getting packet loss when you're already well aware of it.

It looks like lag is the reason for that hit. The killer seemed to pause a moment before going for the hit instead of right away, so on the killer's screen the survivor probably had just vaulted (or was still in the animation).

  • Lightborn is good for a set-and-forget option. If it looks like a flash squad, probably the best to run. You'll still be affected by Blast Mine, however, since that's a blind/stun combo. The downside is once flashlight trolls figure out they can't blind you they typically just DC.

Franklin's is good in a mixed item environment because it will make survivors drop any non-special item. Not only knocks the item to the ground but it erodes the charges the longer it's on the ground (90 seconds and it's useless). I find it's more useful vs flashlight SWFs because most of them only know one trick, so if you make them drop the flashlight many survivors will actually stop to pick it back up or try to swing back by to get it, giving you easier downs. This both tends to make them mad and want to get even so they'll keep coming at you, and are less likely to DC so you can get more points out of them (plus torture them for doing this crap).

If you're feeling plucky (or just want to meme) and are are good at your killer, run both. Makes survivors think you're just running Franklin's so they'll still put in effort to try to blind you and pick up the dropped flashlights, and usually takes them longer to figure out it's not working and thinking they just got a bad angle. They'll keep making risky plays and not spending time on gens, giving you more downs and time to get downs. You can rotate through them making them burn their Unbreakable so slugging is also an option, if you want to put them in a timeout. You'll get called so much sh*t in EGC it's good for the laugh.

  • Slender could be interesting. We already have a failed Predator wannabe in the game, I'd rather have the horror/creepy vibe.

    This.

The size, layout, and number of chainable pallets are improved, but the colors and how they mesh with other things is still awful. I wish they'd fixed that first.

I love the new Wraith cosmetic but that weapon is way too big and since it's linked I can't change it. So I'm stuck with a huge chunck of my right side screen taken up. It's even distracting when invisible.

The huntress doll collector is the same but at least with that one I can change the weapon so it's playable.

Please do something about the weapon taking up almost half the screen or let us change out the weapon for a smaller one. Now I feel like I wasted 10 dollars and discouraged to buy from the store again. Link sets are awful - please stop.

Yeah, I wanted to run the full outfit from the last rift, but that axe is just too horking big. Made most of the right side of the screen just a blur when stealthed. Fortunately I could swap it for a smaller weapon, but most of the weapons are distracting now.

  • To make matters worse, the Twins outfit in this rift is just a retread of a prior rift outfit for them. Not even anything original.

They keep doing the Twins dirty.

  • Wow, Pig complaints. I haven't seen this in....ever.

  • It depends on how the killer reacts, but I'll drop hints that I'm not happy with the way the survivor is playing to the killer. I'll stop working on gens and do something else, and if that happens to give the killer time to catch the toxic player and hook them, so be it.

I'll do everything I can to disrupt a hacker for the killer so they can get them the F**K out of the trial, then report the hacker at the end.

I had this back to back. The Wraith runs Sloppy Butcher, Knockout and two other perks. They run around the map slugging people. It takes a long time to find the slugs with Knockout and a long time to heal from injured.

In the first match, I focused on picking people up, but then nobody was on the gens and it was just a war of attrition until we bled out.

In the second match, I focused on gens, but then everyone was down and the people who were up were always injured. We made more gen progress before we died, but the match was over sooner.

What's the correct thing to do?

Interesting combo. I've been looking for something new to slow down gens on my Wraith to deal with the broken longer chase builds, this might work pretty well.

  • Solo queue. You can't count on anyone for anything. If you want a heal, you tend to have to do it yourself. Self-Care can't get Franklin'd. Some killers you can't stay injured against.

As for why Botany isn't being ran with it, it'd take a spot meant for one of the MFT/WoO/Resilience/Hope/Adrenaline crutch builds.

    Hi everyone.

First, I don't want to win every game I play. I don't want to do a win streak. etc. I want to have fun.

I played the game for a long time and heard from killer mains. It is hard and survivor-sided. I need to camp + tunnel to win.

So my question is that. If there is a skill-based matchmaking (you know MMR). Why I can't win ~50% of my matches (regardless of the side I play)

Earlier, as a survivor, I experienced around 45% escape rate which is normal in my opinion.

My issue is that in the last 2 days, the matchmaking is insane.

Our escape rate went down to about 10%. And in the last 10 matches, we had only 3 survivors who escaped. Is it a normal thing? Do we really have to die in this game every time? What should be the fun factor for the survivor if we can't win?

I know, "learn to play", "don't cry" and "git gud". I can live with that I can't play, but based on the statistic 3 of 40 survivors can play (1 of them was a crouching random next to the hatch with a hatch offering)?

I would hear about others' experiences. Is the matchmaking really this insane?

    Here are my statistics:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/HKJWIOLD6Z41/10-05-10-06-png.png

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/VSLGGHSNLT7D/10-07-10-08-png.png

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/C9ZR93C3ZU44/last-games-png.png

The last week+ has been bizarre for MMR for me, for both sides.

Across all of my killers I've ran into survivor groups that were insane compared to the usual fare for my level. There was no reason to actually attempt most of the trials. Typical scenario was two gens popped in the first minute, before I even saw a survivor. Third popped mid chase with the first survivor I found. Fourth popped getting that survivor to a hook. Fifth popped, both gates 99%, hook rushed and chain body blocked to the exit. Playing M1s, I eventually just went afk whenever a trial started like this, and for some maps I didn't even bother starting.

Survivor was the exact opposite. In solo queue I kept winding up in teams of survivors that not only knew what they were doing but were good at it. I've never escaped so much in such a short period of time in my career playing the game. One trial had someone who was a god level looper, and every time the killer got on one of the other three survivors they'd somehow get the killer on them and take off. Ultimately they dragged the killer (who wasn't a noob by any stretch) around the map for four gens and only got hit once. The killer was so impressed they wound up playing friendly and lined up for pallet stuns the rest of the match.

    MMR is just borked anymore.

  • @Xyvielia said:

    It’s a thing.

Notice the prompt for totems when you attempt to cleanse one (especially totems near an object or inbetween two objects, back inside the opening of a wall, etc.). There is a very small window for when the “Cleanse Totem” prompt appears. Happens with pallet prompts, as well.

If you’re at a certain angle, you won’t get the prompt. Can be extremely annoying.

Window vaults in close vicinity to lockers or Gens/pallets is similar, and another in-game nuisance. You attempt the Gen repair and drop a pallet next to the Gen; or try and vault a window but end up hopping into a locker.

Silly that these things still happen in matches.

This. The trigger "area" seems to be able to be blocked or overridden by nearby stuff. Apparently including pebbles on the ground.

Bringing just one guarantees the hatch will appear there, or it's equivalent location on non-shack maps.

If you want to just hook everyone twice why do you need to kill someone off?

There's no time with four survivors in the game. Trying to double hook everyone with four survivors up will net a few hooks total and all gens done. Getting rid of one survivor asap slows the game down enough (map dependent) to get in the remaining hooks and some chases (that still take way too long). Playing "fair" is a lost cause, and you just wind up being a BP generator for t-bag machines.

  • At the start of a trial, generator(s) worked on cannot pass 33% repair for the first two minutes.

  • Apparently, using more than yellow and red for gen auras is reserved for special occasions, like the Halloween event where things are a shade of "kinda orange". Which is just a combo of yellow and red.

Oh how I wish the game engine wouldn't crumble under the weight of more color options.

  • @XombieJoker said:

ffs I understand that some killers are a pain to go against, but give the game a chance that the killer doesn't play like a jerk. Was doing 2 daily rituals for Knight, one to chase and one to hit survivors 5 times by guards (because I scrapped a ritual to sacrifice 2 with Hag cuz, well Hag). In the offering screen there was an RPD offering and I figured I could get that busted basement tome challenge worked on. Right at the start, Meg and Nancy was not having it. They both ran up to me and wanted out without dcing. Hooked em in the basement for a 2 count. Let the other 2 finish the gens and double hooked em in the basement to get my 6 count and let them out. Main point, don't be so hasty to dc from a match.

RPD. Horrible set of maps most people don't want to play on. I hate it on both killer and survivor, even though some killers have an advantage on it. Playing killer I've had entire survivor teams find me wanting me to kill them to get out, then thanking me in EGC. When I land on it as survivor I just park on a gen until I'm found then go next.

    @Nazzzak said:

I don't know what's happening lately. I have never seen it this bad. Every game I play someone is DCing or letting go on hook. I just had a game against Legion, he wasn't tunneling or camping or anything, and two people let go on hook and one DCd. We were doing good too, it was a winnable game as far as I was concerned. It seems like as soon as one does it, everyone else just decides its pointless to keep playing and they give up too.

Legion. In any Legion trial expect at least one survivor to DC or suicide out asap. Similar to Nurse trials where you get a DC as soon as the Blink sound is heard. Killer can be a complete noob, doesn't matter. DC timer > mending sim + unblockable aura reading.

    @cburton311 said:

It may be of interest to ask why they are dc'ing. If you start with the assumption that everyone is looking to enjoy a match, why would someone sit through queue only to dc right away. I promise you it isn't because there was just a killer. These survivors are bearing the trauma of untold previous matches where they had zero fun. They learned the lesson (incorrectly maybe), that their fun is increased if they go next.

IMO this situation has grown to the level it has, because behavior is so slow in identifying problems that compromise the fun of the game for both sides. They only seem to react, when the problem is so large it might threaten the ongoing viability of the game. I'm thinking of the patch where they introduced new animations to survivor and it made juking killers impossible. There was a mass exodus of survivors, and Behavior was damn quick to undo that change.

This. Survivors suiciding/DCing and killers DCing/AFKing isn't happening because they don't want to play. There's either something in the current trial or a precedent set from various other trials that've led them to this point. If it seems like it's happening more often lately, you have to ask what's changed lately to encourage it.

It's not hard to tell, either. It's a vicious circle. Survivor meta is all about stacking haste/vault speed/resource aura reading/plus endurance and bringing boosted items. This over extends chases and negates time put into chases for many killers, while popping gens crazy fast, frustrating killers into either dropping the trial or AFKing partway through. At a certain point, if they still want to play, killer players are changing up killers from their usual main to ones that have speed, insta-downs, or another trick to help bypass the builds or otherwise catch up fast. Hence why killers like Wraith, Wesker, Ghostface, and such are among the top killer picks. Survivors start to hate going against these same killers over and over again, so they DC/suicide out of trials because they don't want to deal with them anymore. And on, and on, and on.

The funny (yet not) thing about all of this is a lot of players on the forums seem legit confused as to why players behave this way. What's sad is there's really not much that can be done about it from the player side, as this is the meta that BHVR has pushed the game into with their painful perk creations/revamps, and they're being their usual non-communicative/non-responsive selves in player feedback about the problems. Instead, continually pushing out more problematic content for the cash grab.

Something really needs to happen to shake BHVR hard so they start working on these aspects of their flagship game like a company should.

Isn't that just DDOS-ing? I honestly thought the devs had this under control.

Yes, but not exclusively. Rumor is there's an updated set of hacks that can punt people without having to take out the main connection. Although the total effect isn't as bad, it also hinders collecting data through your ISP to submit to the authorities.

  • Since gen regression was gutted, survivors are incentivized/rewarded for staying injured, and chases take much longer, tunneling is one of the the main methods (soon to be the main method) to get a survivor out asap so the game can be more balanced around most killers in the current meta. Since Wesker can be good at tunneling, it'll only amplify someone getting tunneled out faster.

It really sucks, as when I want to play killer I prefer to double hook everyone then play friendly (exceptions are toxic players or players running a survivor-sided map offering to abuse). Since I prefer M1 killers, these days I have to kill off a survivor asap to have enough gens left to even attempt that.

Because really? Let's translate this challenge... "Complete this challenge by the killer choosing not to do their job at all or have the matchmaking put you in a match way below your mmr." This never should have made it past initial thought processing. I'm all for challenging challenges but this isn't challenging, it's purely luck based and needs to start AND stop with this tome. I don't mean to sound nasty but this challenge is literally impossible in your average match. The tome freaking ended before I could get a single one and I still don't have one.

For anyone who would respond by "Just go around it or do compendium challenges if you haven't completed them all yet," I have. This is literally the final tome challenge I have left and it kills me that a challenge like this is the only one left.

This particular tome entry was complained about when it was first released in the rift. In most cases you either have to get it via the killer DCing, getting a brand-new-never-played-the-game-before killer, hiding most of the trial, or hope you have a god looper show up randomly to keep the killer busy for 3-5 gens.

  • I'm very curious about these in the current meta.

The 'Did You Have Fun' prompt definitely works. It reminds me that I had fun, even if the trial didn't end how I wanted it to.

    I always give it a 5.

Playing killer I don't think I've given a trial above a 3 since the MFT/WoO meta started. Most days it's a 2 or less since MMR is borked and I keep winding up with sweaty high-MMR/high-P SWFs even on killers I rarely play.

On survivor side I gave a 4 recently, and that was for a match with an AFK killer so I was able to actually finish gens and do side stuff like totems/chests, PLUS escape. It would've been a 5 but I had to deduct one point to make it 4 when I realized that it took an AFK killer to have a solo trial where it felt like something got accomplished. Most solo queue runs are 3 tops.

  • Not that I'm aware of. Though the more serious your question is or the more it relates to issues in the game the less likely they are to answer it. From what I can tell the question must have some sort of meme quotient to be answerable.

  • @Raccoon said:

Two games tonight I've been disconnected (counts as penalty for me) while winning and received messages from people claiming to have disconnected me.

Yes. It doesn't happen a lot, but it does happen. It's fairly obvious when it does.

It typically happens to killers, and the same ways. The match is going about 50/50 or the survivors are ahead. Something happens that causes it to snowball in the killer's favor.

    1. You're about to run down someone who's on death hook. Survivor suddenly starts running in a straight line and your swings pass through them. You can't use your killer's powers.
