Your main complaint is wanting "to show off in the lobby", and everything else is mostly complaining about the number of levels.
Since grind and dedication are somehow also part of your complaints, and the only thing that's changed in two years about this system is the removal of a highly abusable lobby shopping situation, then yeah.
This reads exactly like someone who is upset about only the recent change because it directly affects how they want to play the game. By lobby shopping.
If you actually care about showing off prestige, then it's available at the end game. I'm a healthy place where people who complete a match can still see your achievement.
Lets be real NO ONE looks at the post game lobby lol. It should just be a toggle because now I don't like wearing prestige clothing unless its the full set again because I just look like a noob lol + it makes higher prestige so worthless like most 99% of people wont see it so why bother

The reason there's no variety in survivor perks, even though there's tons of other good ones, is because the 7-8 years meta is so much stronger than everything else. And even when new stuff gets brought in and gets nerfed, it's still ridiculous. Like, Buckle Up now gives a sprint burst to the person off the ground, and doesn't cause exhaustion.
The reason there's no variety in killer perks is the opposite. They legitimately don't know what to run, because everything is so weak, so they just use the least weak thing at their disposal. They hold onto the pipe dream that gen defence will always be good. No, gen defence is not good, none of it. You're better off running chase perks, endgame perks, and Rancor. So while it might seem like the majority of what you're facing is "Ugh, more gen defence," it doesn't do anything vs good survivors.
Idk I run chase perks and even when I end chases and get hooks in under a minute gens still fly by quicker than I can put pressure on them. A mix of passive gen defense and some chase (usually bamboozle) is what I find to help me more universally instead of on a per killer basis.

Is 2024 the year of drag in dbd?
Hopefully not. We’ve had way too much non-horror and horror-adjacent content recently. This kind of thing should be like once or twice a year max.
I gave up on this game being horror. I just play TCM for that now but keep DBD around just cause I've been having fun with the gameplay and realized unfortunately the horror fans of DBD are in the minority and people would rather popular IPs than horror IPs. If im giving up on the horror I might as well have fun with it some other way

Others have beat me to it, but it's intended for direct hits to be insignificant for The Unknown and this is not something that we're looking to change at this time. This was done to a) encourage use of the blast zone & ricochet effects, and b) to differentiate this power from other ranged Killers.
If you're after meaty direct hits, a Killer like The Huntress or The Deathslinger may be more up your alley. It's not the intention for The Unknown, however.
No offense but if you read the other comments then why are you acting like he said he wants a direct health state to be gone when he said he just wants the timer to be refreshed or SOMETHING to happen other than punish you😭

Chaos Shuffle should be the permanent mode, not 2v8. At least not yet, because 2v8 was half baked and really needs more time to percolate before it's EVER added permanently. Ideally, I want both. :) Chaos Shuffle right now and 2v8 in, gosh, IDK… a year or so, so that every Killer, map, and more classes can be added with more tweaks? And in between then and now, some occasional 2v8 weeks as a rotating mode, just to test new things and make it the best it can be.
I think this is what they want to do with the mode. I just hope they add unknown soon

Yeah Im probably gonna finish out this rift then leave it at that, I have no interest in any chapters thats coming out and the main game is horribly boring especially compared to 2v8

Are they winning though by being down to 2 gens remaining with only 2 of them? Eitherway they probably die just it's less of a time-sink for all parties if there was a mechanic that say gave the survivors more gen speed but killer instinct every 30 seconds or something. Against a normal killer. Currently They either die because their found eventually. Or die to server close after a hour. One requires the killer to run around the map for who knows how long checking every locker, Crack, corner and the basement. The other isn't even really meant to be reached in a normal game.
If they escape yes they win and if the server closes that also counts as a 'win' because its not a loss.

In that scenario i would try to finish the gen. If i die i die. I rather end the game in few minutes for all than hide in corners for 1 hour. My time is precious and so is the killers and in the end this is a game.
Okay well some people would rather win and you can't blame or get mad at them for wanting too

I would hate to have you as teammate..
In a 2 people with 2 gens left and a Spirit with gens relatively close? Neither of them tried to make a play and unless they could loop a good spirit for 180+ seconds then theres no point. I play altruistically often but in this scenario its just up to if you want to sacrifice yourself by doing a gen or not

Why should the survivors be entitled for a win after going against a stronger opponent and technically losing if you are too scared to even try finishing a gen at that point ?
If survivors 3 gen themselfs thats in most cases on them. Sure sometimes killer can push it on the survivors, but it's quite easy to tell when killer is trying to 3 gen you.
No survivor should be allowed to rat out in corners and lockers just because they might die going on a gen. Killers playtime is precious too. Not all want to be stuck 1 hour in a match and no one should be forced to take DC penalty for ratty survivors. "Just finding them" isn't that easy eather especially in bigger maps.
Just go do the gen and die trying, does it really matter if you die and go to the next? Ive been in situations as a survivor where theres 2 survivors left and things didn't look good but i never ratted in corners for a hatch.
This would be relevant if the survivors win condition was the TEAM winning. Its not however, its your own escape that matters. So prioritizing your survival over doing gens is all there is left to do.

The devs have repeated time and time again if the survivors aren't progressing the objective (which they still can do gens they just choose not to so saying theres no objective to be done is untruthful) and just hide and refuse to touch them. They are infact hostage holding. Because the games not progressing. The killer can't chase them. And they refuse to progress gens.
The killer can go search for them. There is no objective for them to do because if they even touch a gen Spirit will just kick it and force them off. So atp Spirit would be holding the game hostage if we wanna get into the nitty gritty, not to mention the fact that trying to do a gen is guaranteed death which is the problem. There is literally NOTHING they can do but wait for the other to die which is what they did

Ironically if you look at when I posted this it was sure around the same time but I had not known about this person. It's moreso a matter of funny timing on my end lol. I dont know if people saw the survivors in their video do it and decided to replicate it which is why i ran into 2 hiders on red forest. But i have no connection to their scenario (though i cannot speak for the survivors i faced). Now that their thing has gotten traction I expected someone to bring it up in this forum post. Eitherway both sides were holding the game hostage in that scenario. Bhvr cannot pick sides there. Also I've been playing since 2017. Forum member since 2019. I've seen this for YEARS. Because BHVR refuses to address it with a mechanic. I've seen it happen to streamers. Had it happen to myself. Ect. For proof look at the timing and it's me asking a actual dev. All the way back in 2020.

The survivors didn't hold anything hostage, they had literally nothing to do with no objective. The problem isn't survivors needing to be punished for not just allowing the killer to kill them, they need to find a way to make survivors able to win. Genuinely there was no point, hard camping a 4 gen as spirit on midwich left the final two with no options but to hide and hope the other died it all boils down to "These survivors should've let me kill them!"

We have an original Killer who is basically an Onryo with Spirit AND we have Sadako who is even called "The Onryo". And Sadako already was one of the least hype chapters, even tho this was mostly due to the fact that it is the Japanese Original and not the US version and that it was announced so early.
I dont think that a third Onryo-like Killer would really be exciting.
Girl Kayako would eat BOTH of those losers up

The sad thing is, if they focused on producing better content less frequently, people would be more incentivised to spend money on skins and other sources of revenue. The more chapters drop within a year, and the lower quality state they're in (I can count the number of good chapters we've had since Project W on one hand) the less likely people are to keep playing and spending.
Licences used to make massive splashes in the playercount, bringing in old and new players alike. Now dropping some of the biggest licences ever - ALIEN?! - didn't even make a dent.
If they focused on fixing the damn game instead of churning out content seeking endless growth, maybe they'd actually be doing better off. There'd definitely be a higher playercount and we wouldn't be reaching dangerous levels of player turnover. But we'll never know, because the higher ups demand more.
I dont think this. The general public of DBD care FAR more for content than anything else. I always bring this up but its a good example when DBD had a 6 month time of no content between Pig and Clown the playerbase dropped rapidly.
Even though the players were informed that a whole host of new features was coming including most majorly the cosmetics shop but still no one cared because they want content and they want it now not later. I think things like that make BHVR wary of trying to decrease the content production -

It's only Fortnite in that it caters to casuals above all else. All of the chapters this game has gotten have been within the realm of horror, a survivor, or a killer. 2v8 didn't change this. Now the outfits, you're onto something. Some of them are straight-up dumb, from bunny ear Feng, to milk man Hillbilly, to Yui with gigantic fox tails.
Tbf we JUST had 3 back to back non horror chapters so we cant really say that all chapters are within the realm of horror. Everything else does feel like a nitpick I will agree though
Also bunny feng was originally created in like 2016/early 2017 if I recall correctly, they just didn't know how to add her until like 2019 I think -

I can't help but feel that "testing" is less of your concern and more so of the fact that people get to play the content sooner than you is the main problem.
I play on steam/PC btw and haven't even opted into this PTB because I'd rather play 2v8 but I have some friends who dont own PC or down the PC copy of DBD and actually are excited for this chapter but can't experience it. Plus I did play on console until 2019 and I remember for the first few PTBs being disappointed I couldn't experience them or try them out. Not everyone has problems with something just because it effects them

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/423308/do-we-still-need-the-ptb
The ptb is there for bhvr to test and fix stuff before it goes live and breakes some serious stuff, of course it often happens that there are still bugs that aren't the best but normally they don't break the game. Of course the ptb also hypes stuff up but it makes sense for sure to test and balance the things before release, especially because there's almost always something that makes the killer harder to use or even impossible in the ptb. The main-excampel for that at the moment would probably the huge punishment for hellfire if you cancel it and the way too long charge-duration of the pounce as well as the speed of the wolf, I'm 100% sure that they'll buff it before release otherwise he would be pretty weak.
But why do they need a PTB to do this? Again, using an extremely small sample size of only one singular platform within a very short time frame won't provide meaningful changes or discussion about said changes. PTBs only last a week so they're using give or take the opinions of around 10,000 people (generous estimate) on one single platform who only got to try for a week but more often times less than a week to balance something and bug test it? Whats stopping them from just releasing to live and then the week after releasing a patch to address these issues? This isn't even mentioning they have no idea how these chapters will perform on consoles before launch which we've seen happen before (IE Nemesis)
-
Thats…sort of embarrassing. Its also very telling that BHVR deliberately excludes console from their hype trains. I switched over to PC since cross progression which I am so thankful for, but at the same time it really feels like BHVR doesn't care about their console playerbase sometimes and PTBs are one of many things that make me believe that
(edit: Meant to be a reply to @Aven_Fallen but the reply part got deleted on accident) -
@HolyDarky said:
The PTBs are still good to prevent bigger problems for the live servers. Like I am pretty sure everyone is happy that the PTB Twins didn't came to the live servers or that Vecna felt on his release smoother and not like a slowdown.
However, it is sometimes frustrating when the developers completly ignore every feedback and give a ######### about it like they did last PTB with the Perks and Knight. This is really disappointing and also makes me think what is the point of a PTB when you ignore Feedback.
Whats funny was I was thinking of Twins PTB-Live release when I made this post and how there really wasn't much a difference. Twins launch is still regarded as one of the most buggy releases ever and I'm pretty sure were worse when they hit live than they were in the PTB. Not to mention that this reminded me of the fact Nemesis DESTROYED DBD on console because console had no way of testing or trying out the gameplay so they had no idea that he was just completely horridly optimized until he launched on consoles and destroyed the game for console players for weeks on end

So her power is 'in 45 seconds pull off 3 timed sniper shots to put a survivor in the injured state'? -

These players are not permanent and are gradually leaving again. Notice the downard trend following the peak of players after 2v8's release (drawn very shakily in red lol).
I like how at the end you make it go lower despite the clearly being over the line you drew😭. Again, averaging around even 50k is still an increase from the 39-44k average we had previously and this is taking in the fizzled out hype

They'll regret it when their numbers drop after this event is over.
The numbers have already dropped back to usual levels on Steam.
Before 2v8 it was in the mid 40's dropping to high 30's occasionally. 2v8 has seen an increase by 10K? With more updates and more content 2v8 could bring even further increased playerbase if its already performing well (which it is despite forum fearmongering)

I don't find 2v8 survivor fun for a few reasons. If the killers split up and chase separately, then you're essentially just playing normal DbD except without any of the perks you want. At which point, I'd rather just play the normal mode. And if the killers group up and chase together, it's just not very fun. There's not a whole lot you can do.
Idk what matches youre playing but I have never felt for one second in this mode that it was similar to the normal even when chasing independently. I think you're all being FAR too harsh and atp basically hoping for the modes downfall

Meanwhile 2v8 is the only reason Im playing DBD again and having fun like if they never bring this mode back and never expand on it I do not see myself returning to DBD often 😭

Thats what I believe they're leaning into. Their 2v8 mode seems VERY similar to Identity V's 2v8 mode so I believe they will probably do something similar that IDV does with their survivors

They went out of their way to say that the killer pool was going to be limited, but they didn't say the same thing about survivors. While possible, it would strike me as weird if they didn't lump them together. Their communication hasn't always been the best, but it would be weird if they came out and said 'oh, when we said killers, we meant killers and survivors'.
Also given that survivors are all the same no reason there's no practical reason to limit the survivor pool.
unless they lock the class system behind the corresponding survivor, in which case I’ll hate it just for the fact we only have the 8 we got :/

- Dave Richard said at one point early on that Nurse & Wraith were a canon couple, however then later down the line, some other dev stated that killers never meet each other as they all stay in their designated realms whenever the trials don't occur and that if killers did ever meet, they would kill each other.
- Dave also wrote back in 2019 in a now deleted tweet on his personal twitter account that Trapper was framed by his father as the culprit for the death of all those workers and that his base lore was based onthe POV of how the newspapers portrayed him as, while his tome was what he was really like.
- Then there is also Mathiue Cote who at one point said that cosmetics aren't canon and that only default ones are, but then later tome cinematics features cosmetics outside of the default ones.
- Cote also said at one point that cosmetics aren't alternative or multiverse versions of the playable characters and that there are only one version of them each, as the actual multiverse version of the characters only existed in the NPC tomes.
The points above are just examples of things i've seen devs talk about regarding the lore that as far as i'm aware, was never really stated, told or hinted at in the game's lore to this day, however because the sources for each of these dev lore explainations have gone lost now because they were either from now deleted livestreams or from personal deleted tweets, meaning there is no way to truly back them up as being actual canon lore bits or even reliable lore bits in any conversations regarding the official lore, just like with the Kate thing you wrote.
Also because none of these dev lore explainations are officially stated inside the lore of the game itself, should the devs suddenly change their minds at some point, they can easily do so without issue because it was never officially stated in the game to begin with.
That's why unless something is also directly written in the game as well, i don't consider any lore bits told by devs outside of the game as reliable lore info, simply because they don't have to commit to those lore explainations they give, because again, they were never officially stated in the game to begin with.
I never knew the devs made so many inaccurate lore statements omg.
Only defense I offer them about the Tome is the tome could be just different universes and or adding to the official canon. I think the multiverse was confirmed with Haddie since we didn't get the Haddie from the tomes we just got some podcast chick -

She gave hope and positivity to others yes, however nowhere is the ''immune to the entity's influence'' or ''years long path to corrupt her'' stated in the lore.
I wish devs would respond to these sometimes cause I swear to God I saw it somewhere and it was like a huge thing lore wise like thats why her music and stuff got dark because it was slowly trying to corrupt her and get her to a state it could take her omg

Compared to that, Kate's only crime is having lore that was good for being so early but got left behind as time passed and having an archive that did nothing to add to her character.
Hell even I have never read Jonah's lore or bothered to look into him and I have 5k hours on this game😭

Lara's only a problem if Jill Valentine is. Lara seems perfectly fine as an adaptation, let's be real—If Vecna and Wesker were allowed in DbD, Lara feels uninteresting rather than offensive. Vecna and Wesker make it clear to me that the problem is how a character is adapted, and they—to my knowledge, I can't play the PTB as a console player—didn't make Lara Croft half as much of an action-centric character as they did Wesker.
Tbf I have a HUGE problem with Vecna too and I wouldn't have wanted Wesker regardless. I would've rathered an Re1 chapter with chris, jill, and Tyrant/Lisa Trevor then an Re2 chapter with Leon, Ada, and either Mr X or Birkin (I dont like Claire but love Ada lol)

Wesker has no action in him? You mean, you think the literal orchestra he walks around with is horror? And you also think his power is more horror than action? Tell me, since Wesker is so scary, how terrified were you when he pulled out a second pair of glasses after having the first one punched off in his Mori? You know, I think a lot of people would find a killer who has infinite supplies of Sunglasses in their back pocket goofy, but to each their own.
Imma be real bro, saying the bones in Mario are the same as 'Minor' horror connections like 2013 literally being initially designed as a Survival Horror game to the point basically everyone on that thread admitted TR 2013 was horror or horror adjacent really just proves you wanna argue about this more than you wanna make a compelling point. Show Mario falling off a cliff, Lara being mauled by wolves, and Jill being snapped in half by a crocodile and I'm pretty sure you know which two clips are going to be causing more heart rates to rise.
If you want to go in circles in this, go ahead, just don't pretend this is about what fits in DBD. If none of the Action stuff RE brought matters, there is literally nothing Lara has to poison the game, and pretending that Mr Matrix is somehow more fitting than her despite being patently sillier in design and execution really just says that this is about a genre label more than how scary it actually makes the gameplay.
When Wesker stops saying one liners and Lara starts falling through warp pipes, then you'll have a point about what fits. But for as long as I hear "Seven Minutes is all I can spare to play with you.' in a match with no seven minute timer whatsoever, you'll never be able to convince me RE hasn't brought more goofy action to this game than the traumatized Island Survivor who cauterizes her own wounds with heated arrows.
Help since when was chase music what made a characters genre LMAO and I'm sorry that I dont agree with random redditors and take their word as gospel, a lot of which admitted they dont play or touch horror as a genre period.
And dont act like the sunglasses thing isn't from BHVR being lazy and not just having him be without glasses after he does a mori like be real its not meant to be a cool action thing its literally just BHVR not wanting to create the code to keep his glasses off his face.
"when lara starts falling through warp pipes" I mean we have several in our latest map that DnD brought us so??? And again you guys loooooooooooooooooove missing the entire point huh? One of the worst things about Lara coming is that it shows DbD is moving away from horror in favor of seeing what they can jam into DbD to make the most money which is my point. I don't like the direction they're going in and have been going in this past year of blatantly disregarding horror in favor of money and crossovers.
(Adding, one liners that mind you I'm not a fan of either vs doing a horribly animated leap over every obstacle…I can ignore the one liners I cant ignore the horrid leap lol) -

Surely you wouldn't go so far as to say that Tomb Raider is AS far away from horror as Mario and Spongebob, though?
The game they're picking from here is pretty heavily steeped in horror inspiration and imagery. Lara spends a fair amount of time in that game fighting for survival against an overwhelming supernatural foe, routinely stumbling across horrifying setpieces and confronting death at every turn. It's basically in the same vein as Left 4 Dead; horror imagery and inspiration while still ultimately being an action game rather than a true horror game.
Bill has been in the game for a long time, so that baseline has been pretty clearly established for a long while. It's not unfitting for DBD, and not a "forcefully shoved in collab", as long as there's horror imagery and inspiration in the IP.
That's not to say DBD hasn't been testing the boundaries- the Dungeons and Dragons collab was an interesting look into how DBD would adapt something that wholly isn't horror by teasing out the elements of horror it does have. I think there's a lot of room for DBD being allowed to do that, and to test what fits in the game… but Tomb Raider isn't that. Tomb Raider is just a pretty straightforwardly sensible addition that just fits without too much effort.
The difference here is L4D those are just normal people put into a situation against their will. Laura knowingly throws herself in these situations and is a badass action hero who can backflip pistol shoot her way out of damn near anything😭
