The problem with comparing it to Dragon's Grip having a cooldown is that Blastmine doesn't have a cooldown that is simply time based. It's cooldown is completing a percentage of a gen that can be difficult to do if you are either on hook, being chased, or if the killer is protecting a three gen.
You always have dragon's grip as a perk and don't have to activate it initially (activating condition is just kicking a gen), but blastmine you have to put in some work before you can get the reward of the perk. While I understand your comparison to flashbang, I feel like it should be treated differently because of the activating conditions and short time it is applied to the gen. They could have done some compensation to the perk instead of just making it much weaker (completing only 50% of a gen or having it active on the gen for 45 seconds).
I enjoyed reading your arguments about Dragon's Grip and Flashbang and now I agree they could/should have given a compensatory buff to Blastmine. However, logically, I feel this perk makes more sense now.
-
As sad as it is to see an underused perk nerfed, I'm actually with BHVR on this one. The first time I used this perk and I noticed that my mine had failed but that I was able to immediately place a new one, I was like what? That can't be right?
It's like missing your flashbang save and immediately receiving a new one to try again.
Edit: and now it's consistent with Dragon's Grip, which also goes on its huge cooldown even if it didn't hit anyone.

Hush now. The fans have been so quiet lately. You'll wake them
Forgive me. ๐คฃ

I stopped using it after being exhausted on the ground two games in a row. It's definitely wonky again.
-
The bunny charms are clearly a teaser for Springtrap!
I'm making a joke, please don't hate me-
-
I remember doing this with Quick & Quiet. Be in chase, hop in a locker mid-chase, don't get found, chase ends, challenge is completed.
-
This reminds me of that time I made it to the exit gate with a Bubba breathing down my neck and I got stuck on the christmas lights and died. Because apparently those lights had collision.
I despise you, christmas lights.

Honestly I think it is because it would be a bit much to see the killers aura like that base kit. Maybe it could be the effect of a reworked kindred. I think that seeing the killer's aura should only happen with perks.
I could definitely be wrong tho, honestly if kindred was added with the killer aura reading as base I wouldn't mind. At this point anything to buff solo queue would be nice.
I always see people say it should be without killer aura, but honestly, add the killer aura. It would deter camping as well.

If killers weren't so intimidated by pallets and stopped respecting them, chases would be over faster. Also, even if you don't catch them initially, getting rid of pallets pays dividends later in the match because it creates dead zones.
That really goes for windows too. I swear every killer will run around the window when they see you running for it. I just turn around and run around the opposite side. Repeat. Path of least resistance is old reliable.
That's why I love running Enduring on Nemesis. You just run into every pallet and break it with your tentacle without losing much distance.
-
@ad19970 said:
Really? Like that does seem very close, but it's definitely manageable. You just have to force a pallet drop and break it.
I have seen two pallets spawn at the same loop on the Badham maps once or twice. That was rather weird. Though I would love to have tiles with pallet loops being pretty much connected to each other, but each of them individually being rather unsafe. I feel like that would create some interesting gameplay and mindgames during chase.
Yeah it was definitely manageable. But when I first saw them, I was thinking '... okay then'. This post was more wanting to see if others had seen something like this before and not so much 'this is unfair!!1!'.
-
@himheart said:
So did you try to bloodlust them?
No, I run face first into them with Enduring and then slap them with my tentacle. Still, I thought this set-up was pretty funny.
-
He was one of the people I watched when I first started playing and it took me about a week or so to get really tired of him. Landing a Huntress hatchet was always thanks to his own pure skill while missing a hit was dumb luck / lag / some other unfairness on the survivor side. It gets old really quickly.
And like others said, what is BHVR supposed to do about it anyway?

@Aurelle said:
Corrupt got the same treatment that Self Care did. Unnecessarily nerfed for no reason and making the perk way worse.
Corrupt was fine as it was, it was a decent slowdown perk. But now it's kind of situational and "meh". Didn't need the change.
In my opinion, the perk didn't even change.
Its main goal is to force survivors away from the gens they spawned next to, so you don't immediately start losing gens while you're still looking for a chase. By the time you get your first down, they'll already be working on other gens anyway. When you get a down, nobody is going to get up from their gen to go do a now unblocked gen instead, they will finish the gen they were working on first. By the time that's done and they go looking for another gen to work on, your two minutes of corrupt would have been up anyway.
So basically, by the time you get your first down, the perk has already served its purpose.
-
Doing gens is enjoyable to me because I'm not just sitting there holding a button. I'm sitting there looking around to see if the killer is coming and to see where I can run to if he does come. There's this constant suspense for me.
And it's a nice break from being chased because that makes my heart race every time and I need some time to calm down again.

@Coffeecrashing said:
Killers also camp because BHVR doesnโt want them to know where the survivors are when a killer hooks someone. Instead of being shown a direction to go in when a survivor is hooked, killers are expected to just wander around the map and hope for the best. This is why awakened awareness just got nerfed.
People keep talking about addressing the reasons why killers camp and tunnel, but so far we just keep adding penalties for the killer, instead of giving killers ways to make it easier to find a new survivor to chase so they will have a motivation to leave a hooked survivor.
How about looking for them on gens...? You don't need to be shown exactly where they are to have an idea of where they might be.
-
I never use addons because I can't bear the thought of getting used to them and running out of them, so I don't really care about that, but everything still feels much slower than it used to...
-
This post has made me realize that Felix has indeed also been getting cosmetics quite often even though I literally never see him in my games except when I play him myself. Whereas Feng is in literally every game.

Because people who weren't frustrated with the game yet, are now. Wild, I know.

Make tunneling out generators less rewarding. If survivors don't tunnel gens then killers might not tunnel survivors.
Kinda like how killers were going to stop stacking slowdown perks if gens ever got nerfed? Oh wait.

If I made a generalization, I apologize, because it is a figure of speech that is not useful at all, and that brings nothing to the debate! ๐
It's obvious that SOME players like to play the nurse, some don't, some don't care, some like to play it, some don't, etc. I agree!
But not liking a killer is only subjective, that's why, somewhere, it's sad to see players transforming a "I don't like to face X or Y" into "X or Y must disappear" ... admit it's a little bit exaggerated.
By the way, thank you for saying "Nurse is an unpleasant gaming experience." ! Because on the other hand, I can completely understand that one prefers to face this or that killer, in the same way that I myself prefer or don't prefer this or that killer ๐
No worries. :) And I take back my statement about not being able to discuss with a Nurse profile picture, you seem friendly and constructive.
I agree that liking things is subjective and changes should not be made based on what people enjoy or dislike. Changes should be made based on objective facts (such as 'this is too strong'), which in the end is something only the developers of this game can do, although we as players like to think we know better based on our subjective experiences.

First, I don't play DbD to "bully" players ๐
Secondly, as much as I love the nurse, I enjoy other killers ๐ค
Thirdly, as long as someone comes to discuss with me in a calm, thoughtful way, and doesn't start to bury their head in the sand with "You're a hand nurse, there's no point in discussing with you!", I'm open to any discussion ๐
Then, likewise, just because I still think Nurse is an extremely unfun experience in this game, I am not a baby and I don't play DbD to bully killers. I merely turned what you said around on you to make you see it was a faulty generalization.
What I meant with the Nurse profile picture was that these players clearly love the Nurse above all else for them to choose her as their profile picture and they are going to struggle to see things from another perspective.

"Also, the Nurse hate will never stop sadly because people are babies"
That explains a lot ... indeed, only babies would keep crying because they can't bully the ugly killer by holding the "E" and lowering all the paddles in the game ๐
Kinda like how only babies would keep maining Nurse because they can't bully the ugly survivors without blinking and skipping all the 'paddles' in the game?
Also I really can't take anyone with a Nurse profile pic seriously on this topic. I just know their bias is going to be so far up their behind that it's impossible to have a decent discussion with them.

Na, the problem is not him, or the majority which think solo q is awful right now. People saying they escape 80% in solo q are the problem, since they're clearly being deceptive.
It's literally the other way around. I now lose 80% of my games with teams that are actually trying. :') These people who claim they're having the best time right now honestly make me angry.
-
I've barely been playing lately. I try every now and then because the completionist in me doesn't like to miss out on the rift, but the games I get in solo queue are just so unfun... I've been encountering range addon Nurses left and right after a certain streamer made a video exposing how busted it is. I've been stuck on my 'cleanse 8 totems' challenge for a while now because going out of your way to cleanse even a single totem feels like throwing the match with the current state of the game. Overall just very unfun.

it took me a few passes to even understand what i was looking at in that picture, ironically more because of the EGC effects than claudette.

God, that video stressed me out. The one dude that kept yelling in the mic needs to chill out.

The way I see it, the perk was okay on all killers and busted on Legion and Plague. Whatever nerf or rework they had planned would always have destroyed it on all killers to make it just okay on Legion and Plague.
Like, I don't see how they could have changed this perk to make it okay on Legion and Plague and still useable on everyone else.
-
I went from not facing Nurse at all for the past six months to facing Nurse every other game...
-
What I want to know is how you have five to ten minutes queues for survivor right now? All my survivor games since the patch hit have been instant at any time of day because everyone switched to killer, apparently.
On topic: removing self unhook attempts will not make people who don't want to play anymore good team players. You can't fix people, I'm afraid.
-
I played against a Nemesis with Ruin, Undying, Corrupt and BBQ, aka someone who clearly didn't read the patch notes, and we were still demolished. :v
-
I've also started using Sprint Burst and Fixated (I refuse to use the new name :V). It's amazing to quickly walk away from a gen, not be found and hop back on it. If you do get caught, you Sprint Burst to the nearest loop and start the chase game.
They significantly buffed killers in chase so I guess more people are now avoiding chase altogether.

@Canas said:
You absolutely should give "Deja Vu" a try, it's quite decent since the rework. It gives you a repairspeed bonus of 5% (!) on any revealed generator now, I've used this to do over half of the gens on RPD by myself last night. It was pretty damn useful.
I thought I was going to like this perk but I tried it and the repair speed boost only lasting for the duration of the reveal (aka 60 seconds) for only 5% doesn't feel great to me. :( By the time you get to a newly revealed gen, precious seconds have already passed. And if you get pushed off the gen during those 60 seconds, there goes your perk.

@Ghoste said:
Why spend 2+ minutes doing a gen for 1,250 BP when I could rush to the unhook for 1,500? Gens barely compensate you for how boring it is. It's no wonder Survivors are just running into the Killer. It's more fun and they get more points doing it.
(P.S. I actually do gens, but this is how Survivors think, and I can't even blame them.)
I only just found out about this... I've been wondering why I've consistently been the lowest scoring survivor on my team even though I don't feel like I'm being useless because I do most of our gen progress. I guess this is why. ๐

I'm trying really hard not to give up but my solo queue teams have actually been trying and we consistently fail to get past three gens... It feels very demoralizing. I've escaped twice since the patch hit, one of which was against an adept Dredge...

How worrisome. Come back when you're facing survivors that do gens and predrop strong pallets. The only difference here is a whopping 10% reduction in pallet kicking time.
Again, face strong survivors on the regular before you worry yourself sick. You should get there in no time considering 4ks are handed to you on a plate.
I'm sure you're aware, but you were extremely rude in both of those answers...
-
My only escape so far was with Sprint Burst, Prove Thyself, CoH and Botany. The healing felt really strong and the extra gen speed feels like a necessity now to get those last two gens done. Sprint Burst is just Sprint Burst.

I tried to make a little diagram to show lightweights effectiveness.
According to a Google search, the scratch marks last for 10 seconds. With 5 seconds removed, it's about half what it is generally. With the spreading of the scratch marks, theoretically if you ran into a fork in the road and stopped running, you could have scratch marks going either direction, so it might even wrap around a 90ยฐ a little bit.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/DCM4Q7XFP1EQ/lightweight-220721-095057.jpg
Thanks for the explanation and the drawing, I appreciate the effort!
-
Is Lightweight actually noticeable now? I've used it a bit as survivor but I have no idea if it messes with the killer at all.
-
I just played against a tunnelling Bubba with Dying Light, Thanatophobia and Pain Resonance. My team was really trying but we fell apart because we just couldn't get through those gens. How do I adapt to that?

Oh have you not gone against THAT spirit yet? Its not fun.
Okay, I did once go against a Spirit who had everyone hooked in less than ten seconds, but that was over so quickly I had forgotten about it. Other than that though, I've seen maybe two other cheaters in almost three years of playing.
-
I don't know where y'all find these cheaters because I never see them.
-
Like others said, that would make CJ teching for a flashlight save an exploit as well because you tried to break the pallet but you couldn't because it was being interacted with.
-
Because I understand the basic concept of Blight, which is supposed to be running in straight lines and bumping off objects, but they aren't really running in straight lines, are they... They just do all of these things that I don't expect because I don't know what's possible and what isn't, because clearly he can do more than he's supposed to be able to do.
E.g. They can apparently make a U-shape around an entire wall of the shack in one rush??
-
My main issue is that these level 2 event challenges are impossible to complete in one week for anyone that has some sort of life outside of this game. I'm going to have to struggle to get the cosmetics and the charm...
