  • Condemning people with Sadako?

  • It's still unavoidable in many scenarios, completely negates some killer powers, forces people to play around it even when the perk isn't in the current match and even one successful Dead Hard can outright win the game, so yeah, people are still complaining.

If an image like a monochromatic icon of a rope triggers thoughts of self-harm, it may be worth considering avoiding certain types of media. A gory horror game filled with scenes of mutilation and killing may not be the best choice for individuals who are especially sensitive to such content.

Basically this. If anyone is struggling with thoughts of self-harm, perhaps DbD is not a game they should be playing altogether, for obvious reasons... Seems like a very weird and minute change to make in a game that has so many other things going on in regards to harm and even self-harm, such as literally being able to off yourself on a meat hook.

  • I didn't know this was still a thing but that's probably a remnant from when the hatch did appear in the game when multiple survivors were still alive.

After 90% of all my solo queue survivor games today being killers running Call of Brine + Eruption + Overcharge/Pain Res and tunneling the first survivor out asap, I've come to realize this game is just not worth it anymore. No more getting upset over the many killers winning games that they have no business of winning. No more waiting for BHVR to break the radio silence. No more waiting for the devs to make changes only after they've made enough money from people who buy Nemesis and Onryo for their perks. Playing solo q is self-flagellation and I've often wondered whether I have been masochistic or self-hating for putting up with it. Yep, I'm a whiny survivor main here to declare his departure from the game. Belittle me all you want. But for those of you who are also fed up with this solo q-stomping genkicking meta, this is a reminder that you can just leave too.

I came to the same realization. I haven't been playing much recently, like one game every two days or so, just because I haven't reached tier 85 of the rift yet. And when that one game is against a Blight who tunnels at 5 gens and someone is already on their second hook, you don't really feel like queueing up for a second round.

Two days ago I was showing my friend the game for the first time and in the very first game I got hard tunnelled by a Clown for no reason. My friend said 'so basically if the killer decides you die, you die?' and that sums it up pretty well.

This game has come to the point where (solo) survivors only win if the killer lets them, and that just doesn't feel rewarding even when you do escape. I much preferred how the game was before the big balance changes. At least my wins felt like wins and not like mercy.

  • -Killers would have to Tunnel less because they are not having a extrem time Problem anymore

I fundamentally disagree with that. Through all of the changes that tried to make the game easier for killers to give them time to play around with fun perks, which essentially made tunnelling and camping easier as well, both of these playstyles have become even more of an issue than they used to be.

I am and always will be of the opinion that if the game is made easier, people will continue to play like that because winning easily beats winning normally.

Thanks for the update, Mandy! Consider me pleasantly surprised.

Hahaha, why would you still believe BHVR's words after the whole time-limited cosmetics debacle?

A man can hope. But yeah...

  • @CodeDB said:

Honestly, this looks like post-hoc justification.

You are absolutely correct that survivors can encourage tunneling but this clip does not show it. Ada is literally unhooked and able to move at the 0:34 mark and you are swinging at the 0:35 mark. I know killer time can get really hazy when you are in the middle of the action and juggling so many decisions in your head but watch that clip back and tell me that Ada had time to do literally anything. Even her "greeding" the pallet doesn't make sense. Her options were to stay at an, at best, semi-safe pallet or try to make distance and she panicked when she realized she had nothing in that area after immediately getting hit after being unhooked.

If you want to tunnel, you can do it. I won't even say I wouldn't do the same thing in your shoes (especially as it wasn't even death hook), but to try to use this as some case in point about how survivors deserve to be tunneled even when the benevolent killer goes SO far out of their way to avoid it is weird and cringey.

I couldn't have said this any better myself.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I see a lot of other people use it, personally i dont want to use a perk that only gives me value once in a match.

To add to that, I don't want to use a perk that might not even come into play at all. Reaching the endgame in solo queue is not at all guaranteed.

Speaking as the guy who is more or less responsible for the box logic becoming widely known, it's... not that hard to find the box if you know what you're doing. Especially if you're running a few info perks such as Lethal/BBQ and such.

Ah, so you're the guy I need to hate. 👀

  • I actually lost a game because of this. The killer was coming towards us right as Mikaela and I were doing the last gen. We were so close to finishing it, like 98%, when Mikaela had to let go because she was going to be grabbed. I would have had enough time to finish the gen (it was like one second away from being done) but as she left, the gen blew up and I had to let go as well.

We weren't able to finish the gen after that. We lost.

It's such a dumb part of the game.

  • @RaSavage42 said:

So was doing the Bloodweb before any better?

I have to ask seems that more and more people are complaining about it

It was equally tedious but you earned points less easily and everything was more expensive. Now I play three games and woop I'm at the cap again.

  • Yup, it's why I don't give a single fudge about bloodhunts or bloodpoint codes or login rewards. The sooner I hit 2 million, the sooner I have to spend half an hour of my time clicking things... I hate it.

  • @HugTheHag said:

    Yeah, it's pretty bad.

If anything, if a skillcheck decides to pop up the second you're leaving the gen, it should follow you like Overchargr skillchecks do.

Yeah, they've proven they can do this with Overcharge so I've got no clue why this is still a thing.

  • Why set your game to easy if you can set it to very easy?

  • @Seraphor said:

But MMR is all based on averages, very loose averages. We're talking several hundred games to get a decent placing or to significantly change your MMR.

You're not going to get the hatch often enough to make a dent in your MMR.

That's somewhat reassuring, I suppose! 😊 With how low my escape rate is these days, maybe that's for the better.

  • @Seraphor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3242568#Comment_3242568

One game isn't going to make a difference, and you don't lose MMR, hatch is neutral.

I don't lose mmr, but I also don't gain the mmr I would have gained by just walking out the door.

Seems like a very flawed system to me if it can't even tell if the door is open or not.

  • @Pulsar said:

1.) Yes, I believe Sole Survivor does stack with Wake Up. Iirc, it takes 12 seconds to open the Gate.

2.) Yes, as far as we know, it doesn't matter when you escape from the Gates, only that you do. If you exit the Trial through those doors, you gain MMR. If you get out through Hatch, there is no change to your MMR.

So you're saying if the gates are open but I stick around for a hatch escape because I have a challenge that requires me to do so, I'm throwing away free mmr?

Yeah, but I need to complete the rift :/

I mean the actual rift, not the event rift. This time I really really want the cosmetics in the premium path but rift progress is so slowly if you don´t do all the challenges for both sides. I don´t have time to play all day DBD so I try to get as many fragments as fast as I can and the easiest way are challenges (except BS challenges like that).

Ah, yeah... That makes sense. I really struggled with the 'Escape 4 trials' challenge in level 4 of the previous tome. I lost my mind a little that day.

It didn't use to be this bad but ever since the huge 'meta change' patch, my escape rate took a huge dive.

  • @IWantCandys said:

Thanks for the help but nah, I´m done. I´m more than done. This ######### challenge completely ruined my mood.

Thx BHVR that only really good players can finsih the rift andf get the cosmetics. Give us at least 2 paths to choose if it comes to challenges like that and not let us stuck forever with such a BS challenge for solo queue. Or FIX YOUR MATCHMAKING so that I can face killers on my level and not super sweaty tryhards.

You're not actually stuck though. The first two killer challenges are laughably easy in comparison. Even if you don't like to play killer, you're not stuck.

  • Well I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing difficulty with escape challenges... I was starting to feel bad.

  • I don't understand the problem. The event objective is so easy to complete on either side that losing a mere 10% of the objective to your opponent hardly matters.

They were going to add a mechanic where you lose some progress for going down or getting stunned either way, otherwise there's no risk to running around with all of your energy. Instead of making it disappear into the void, pun intended, they decided to give it to your opponent instead. Big whoop.

  • @RoastedGarlic said:

As a Killer main I say it failed, you can only 4k so many times with relative ease before you stop enjoying the game. I very rarely get sweaty swfs and even when I do in most games it's either very close or I still walk through them. Before 6.1 this wasn't even close to the case for me.

I rather go back to getting crapped on again atleast then I had to try and not do stupid stuff to give survivors a chance. I don't think balancing around SWF is the right call at all. Everyone talks about sweaty swfs and make it seem like they're in 8/10 games but in reality they're only 1/10 hell sometimes 1/20.

Survivor feels like straight hell due to matchmaking. We have completely selfish survivors deliberately sandbagging the team so they can get their sole survivor/left behind/wake up win. we have match making putting you with potatoes who do absolutely nothing but hide. It is extremely frustrating when you get paired with a sole survivor/wake up/left behind and 2 do nothings.

Sole Survivor/ Left Behind/ Wake Up meta is a terrible meta and not healthy for the game at all. 6.1 Ruined the game for both sides.

I actually started using Sole Survivor and Wake Up because I'm constantly paired with potatoes who do nothing to advance the game and I got tired of losing. I try to progress the game as best I can but now if I see the team is falling apart at 4 gens remaining, at least I have a back-up plan.

I fully agree this patch sucks bum for survivor. And on killer I'm feeling so bad for destroying them at 3 gens remaining that I always start playing nice and let everyone ago, which also gets old fast.

Its to make some money for giving players early access to a cosmetic. Which I'm ok with so long as we get a chance to get them later. It would be an unbelievably douchy move to just make them a timed exclusive

Which is exactly why everyone is angry.

  • I honestly don't mind exclusive cosmetics existing in the rift. They are clearly not part of an obvious money-grabbing scheme, unlike time-limited exlusive shop cosmetics which basically require you to throw money at them now or lose out on them forever. You work towards these rift cosmetics for almost three months and, in a sense, earn them that way.

The two feel very different to me.

  • I actually started liking this map after the rework.

    Don't hate me please.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

The state of balance is kind of subjective. I didn't think killer was weak by any means prior to 6.1. At least it wasn't in my experience. And then killer got buffed a ton and survivor got nerfed. Killer is easier now than it has ever been. If you don't want to really think about what you're doing and just play, now is the time to come back on killer.

But on survivor, it feels bad at the moment. Especially for solo players. It's hard to bludgeon your way through all the slowdown killers are capable of right now.

    Basically this.

As a solo player, it's extremely frustrating and my motivation to play the game can be completely gone after one or two games. A couple days ago I literally said 'alright, that's it, I'm gonna play some killer to relax a bit'. That's a statement that would have sounded insane a year ago but now it's reality. You can do pretty much whatever on killer and still get two kills. So imagine when people aren't just doing whatever and are actually tryharding to win...

  • Alright so I was skeptical about this at first because it's a really selfish build, but after losing seven times in a row in the most horrible solo queue games I've experienced in a while, I decided it was time to try it.

I immediately escaped twice in a row. Once because I actually had a team with some skill and once because I let the killer close the hatch and the gate opening speed of those two perks combined is insane. Thanks for putting an end to my streak of misery!

I am happy to support DBD by purchasing paid content and cosmetics. I am not happy to support DBD when they attempt to manipulate me into spending money constantly by imposing FOMO, which is well-documented and rampant as a scummy business practice in online gaming. I am particularly unhappy when this goes against several statements they've made in the past about exclusivity (and was the given reason we couldn't get anything half-decent as a prestige reward, while we're at it) and goes against overwhelming community feedback, which makes the fact that they kept asking us if we wanted it all the more ironic. And I'm also unhappy when they passed this off as a big favor they were doing the playerbase by making the shop more accessible, and then proceeded to make the shop even less accessible and much more aggressively capitalistic than it was before.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3220150#Comment_3220150

As someone who enjoys owning exclusive content and was far more amenable to exclusives in the past? That philosophy is gonna bite you in the ass whenever you start playing a new game with exclusives, and every time you take a break from DBD or the month's paycheck is looking kinda tight.

It's not worth it. If I had to weigh the pros of having something cool I can show off to other players so they acknowledge how cool I am (definitely) (probably) (maybe) (probably not), and the cons of finding something I sincerely want and have no way to ever obtain, I'll take no exclusives. Exclusives are better in a game with an economy where you can grind your tail off to purchase the retired item from someone else, but here, if your dream outfit turns out to be a Valentines Day 2023 exclusive and you joined in 2024, you're SOL. And if you join in 2028 and a solid quarter of the outfits the game's ever released are gone forever... gg no re, I guess. I cannot respect the reason they're implementing this, nor does it help anyone except people who want to have the opportunity to flex on others (to which I say P100 and event cosmetics already amply offer that opportunity - bringing that philosophy to the shop is nothing more than a predatory cash grab.)

Seriously, bringing up entitlement from your position is a little hypocritical when the entire thing you're invoking is not wanting other players to be able to access future content so you can be the only person in the room to have it.

This whole post was so incredibly well phrased that I did not only upvote but also felt the need to tell you that in a comment.

"However, we got OtR now which lasts 80 seconds, can be used twice, cannot be outslugged, and unless they can grab you, the killer has to eat through it."

I think that's the problem: this isn't true.

Endurance doesn't stack, and when you get unhooked, you get ten seconds of endurance baseline. If the killer hits you in that time, OTR is disabled.

So OTR, a perk whose only purpose is to punish tunnelling, can be disabled by tunnelling hard enough.

An anti-tunnelling perk that is disabled by tunnelling. I don't even have words for that. How does stuff like that make it to the live game lmao.

  • Yeah I achieved 68k points in the end-game screen this week after getting a ton of green glyphs in one game.

  • I voted for ice queen Mikaela. Dredge and David being in the same set further solidified my choice.

  • Because the discount is there to entice you into buying the whole set even though you maybe only wanted a piece of it. It tricks you into thinking you saved money but you actually spent more than you were planning to. ✨

If you look back at the era they nerfed him, there were several clues to why he was nerfed:

    1. They were in the midst of changing all the maps. Don’t know how veteran you all are but there were true ‘god windows’ back then. One per map. They made many of the maps smaller (in some cases significantly smaller).

Hillbilly without overheat had no problem because he could traverse these admittedly large, survivor sided maps without much issue. By adding overheat, Hillbilly’s couldn’t pop up after a long sprint and gun right into an M2 down.

    2. Oni was released within the last year before HBs nerf. The HB vs Oni debate was an absolute joke back then. Billy had a 1.5 sec saw with his best addons with a quick cooldown to boot. Oni had to earn his ability. Now the debate makes a lot more sense since both are much better balanced.

Oni is known for Infectious Fright snow balling teams. Hillbilly could do that without earning anything and traversing anywhere without penalty.

He was king of the most unbalanced time in DBD. Survivors were full of unbalanced unfair advantages. Killers were equally ridiculous and unbalanced. Were.

Now, I personally love Hillbilly. I think his addons could do with more buffs but truth is his basekit is one of the simplest and strongest in the game. Everytime I see him C-tiered all the while I am absolutely crushing teams. Well makes me feel good.

I remember hating that time where everyone on here proclaimed that 'everyone agrees Billy is the golden standard of balance' while he was blatantly OP. They all had Tinkerer and were on you in less than three seconds from anywhere on the map and with an instadown. It only took one potato teammate for the whole match to be lost. I'm getting angry again just thinking about it.

He's in a much better spot now. I recently still got destroyed by a really good Billy who knew exactly how and when to curve and it actually felt like a fun and fair match for everyone involved.

This is exactly the build I used for the first time yesterday against a Nurse with someone who DC'd immediately upon hearing her scream, and it was so OP all three of us escaped.

    I LOVE IT.

  • Yesterday I played a game as Nurse to get my 6 blink hits challenge done and then proceeded to goof around and farm because I didn't want to actually play Nurse. I somehow ended up playing the first game from Squid Game with the 4 survivors. They approached me as I faced the wall and when I turned around they froze in place. First one to reach the wall wins. We did that twice until one of them decided to replace me at the wall and I had to join the other three survivors in the game.

It was super random and I'm amazed they managed to explain to me what they wanted to do with only non-verbal communication. I loved it.

  • I equipped a 'stun the killer 3 times' challenge yesterday and faced Artist, who shoots birds through pallets instead of walking through them, Bubba, Bubba, Nurse and Nurse. I finally completed my challenge against a Blight...

The game likes to shaft me by giving me unstunnable killers whenever I try a challenge like that. Perhaps this is the secret Bubba summoning ritual.

  • I played with Hyperfocus, Stake Out, Resilience and This Is Not Happening and found that even with a build specifically dedicated to it, TINH is still garbage.

  • Even without this build, I'm really struggling in this regard when playing against Wesker. I can't tell if he's close or far away because I hear his terror radius at all times. I also can't tell where he's coming from because I hear his terror radius at all times.

I genuinely, unironically feel his huge terror radius makes him stealthy.
