No votes for Bubba? He was basically an essential purchase for BBQ for about 5 years.

Came here to say this. It's definitely Bubba.

  • Rest in peace, friend. 💔

  • As an in real-life gay David main, this pleases me.

  • Thanks for sharing this news, I wouldn't have otherwise known about it. I'm absolutely devastated. He was one of the first DbD Youtubers I started watching and I had to stop watching because seeing him decline the way he did was just too painful.

I hope his last moments will be filled with love and comfort and that he may go peacefully. 😔❤️

  • I'm absolutely shocked that other people besides the OP have issues with the basement. Not once in my almost four years of playing this game have I thought that the basement is a bad thing to have in the game. Of course it can single-handedly turn games around if a survivor is careless enough to go down near it, but that is entirely on them. The dangers of the basement are well-known in advance.

All other reasons for keeping it aside, I believe it's also part of the lore. Something about it being the place that's closest to the entity.

SWF >>> Killer >100x solo q, but sounds like you're the chosen one, would you prove what you say and show me and others how to do it in the solo q? 1v1 (killer and survivor) i want to learn from the master of solo q, I have a question: how many hours do you have and do you play on NA or EU?

How would a 1v1 prove how well he performs in a solo queue team setting...?

No, you just can’t have a proper discussion and are running away. You have a good day as well.

I like how you said he was just going to deflect instead of sharing some gameplay and he immediately started deflecting. I commend you for standing your ground in this discussion.

As for the topic, I don't understand where all of this hate for solo queue is coming from. I've never had a better time with it than after the last patch. It's super refreshing that gen defense perks are as good as gone and pressure comes from killers doing well in chase. I'm on an 11 game escape streak in solo queue right now (which I've probably just jinxed) and the only times I lose is when my team fails to buy enough time in chase.

  • I've been seeing people complain a lot about solo queue after the last update, but honestly, I've been having a great time as well?

My teams have been competent (doing gens, flashlight saving me, ...) and my escape rate for the past week was around 50%. It's the most fun I've had with DbD in a long time.

  • Cool, thanks for all the feedback!

I might give learning it another try but it's reassuring to know that it isn't anything important. 😁

  • Yeah, for some reason they decided the autobuy only becomes available for any character after their first prestige.

They should keep it at 70 days as that is more than enough and those who finish it earlier don't have to wait the new rift then so long.

I disagree with 70 days being enough.

For rift 14, I was dedicated to playing my two daily games of survivor and killer (for the xp bonus) and sometimes a bit more, because while I enjoy this game, my life at the moment doesn't really permit me to play much more than that. Had it not been for the 10 tiers I received 'for free' from Prime, I would not have made it, and that's with finishing almost all of the challenges. I only had a few challenges in level 4 left.

I don't think it's reasonable that playing at least two games (aka ~30 minutes) a day while also completing most of the challenges doesn't get you to the end of the rift in time.

  • If you wait, you save 1000 auric cells that you can still spend to buy those 10 rift tiers anyway. If that's not necessary, you just gained 1000 cells.

Evil Incarnate is not a bug, just unclear wording in the description. You have to tombstone the survivors, no other method counts.

There's a lot of clutter in maps nowadays which doesn't make Skilled Huntress any easier. Glowing Concoction with Lethal Pursuer combo is your saving grace.

Usually survivors like to play the hatchet dodge game inside the exit gates and you can get a bunch of progress.

Or, you can wait for an unhook with a Iri hatchet fully charged, like a certain dev who shall not be named did on stream. Bonus if you use Floods of Rage and Devour to know you're a the correct distance.

There was also the method of just waiting for a slug to get picked up at the edge of Nurse's Calling range or Deerstalker t2.

Probably not the most engaging, but sometimes you have to save your sanity.

    Hi! Thanks!

I did Rescue Mission with Power Struggle/Unbreakable. Probably not going to be super useful with the upcoming update, given how long recovery will take to trigger PS. And my solo teammates often wasted my pallet. You can still try that, especially if there are flashlights in the lobby, which will buy you more time on the ground. Otherwise, it's going to be a little bit of a pita and also involve a good deal of throwing, but I would probably use Background Player (speed boost so you can wait for the pick up in a good spot) Empathy (to know where the rescue needs to happen) and Windows of Opportunity (to ascertain if they went down in a pallet without wasting time. Plus, it's a nice perk).

Outbreak Breakout, I used Sole Survivor (exit gate open) Spine Chill (really made the difference to monitor the patrol and know when to go for the gate switch) Self-Aware and Inner Healing (keep it in the pocket until the end, see next point) and a medkit. Low Profile didn't work that well, because I kept running into killers who slugged for the 4k and then also camped the hatch for a good amount of time. So, having a way to heal myself in the endgame was more important. I found Wake Up to be redundant and the math confirms it. I suggest you familiarize yourself with the exit gate fixed locations in a bot match and with the paths and hiding spots. The gate that is not the main hall one is often the better choice.

Expert Generalist is a rework that didn't exist back then. However, there are likely a handful of combos that would work. I'd probably use Self-Aware and Lightweight. It's one total generator. So, that can be split across multiple ones. If you just work solo (no coop) you know you're gtg when you got 1250 bp in the objective category, provided you didn't do anything else.

    Glhf!

Thank you so much! :D Some great tips there. 😊

Currently missing 5 Achievements. The 3 Adepts from the latest Chapter (did not bother with those), Thrill of the Chase, where you have down 10 Survivors who got exposed by the Lock-On mechanic and Skill Huntress.

And I know that I will take ages for Skilled Huntress. Because I am not a skilled Huntress.

Lmao same. Even with friendly survivors who were letting me hit them, I missed so many hatchets. I'm glad I got it over with.

  • @TheNTT777 said:

Have they fixed Evil Incarnate? There was a time where the fourth sacrifice / kill you made by any means just didn't count for whatever reason, and it affected this achievement. No idea if it's still lile that, though.

Other than that, Skilled Huntress is the sole achievement / trophy that kills my motivation for 100%. At least on PS5, the requirement is 100 downs, which is a ridiculous amount. Any tips for that one would be appreciated (for example, an easy way to gauge how far 24 meters is supposed to be).

They have fixed it, I got it last week!

For Skilled Huntress, I farmed it, and an easy way to tell the distance is Devour Hope (24 meters from a hook) and Nurse's Calling (28 meters, so you stay on the edge of where you can just about see their aura).

  • @KingFieldShipper said:

I got all them in completed a few months ago. I got the ones that people struggle with mostly completely on accident - like the Disturbed Ward one or escaping when you're the last survivor and complete the last gen. Most achievements I just got naturally playing the game but there were some that I had to grind for. I struggled so hard with the RPD one... that it was absolutely miserable to do.

Likewise, the achievements with the Killers I really hate. Like the Michael Myers achievement with tiering up 300 times, even though you can get about 4 to 6 per match easily just took forever and I really think he's so incredibly boring so I could never like grind it either without feeling burnt out after like two matches.

I ended up just farming for the skull merchant one, which I think is the only one I actually ever cheesed, and got it done in a couple matches and I'm incredibly glad to never ever ever ever ever ever touch her again.

I wish you and everyone else look on their journeys!!

I've never played Skull Merchant, was kinda hoping that one would come naturally. :')

I totally agree on the Myers achievement. I'm at 12/300 and I'm already fully hating it. Some of those early achievements have such insane numbers.

  • @Bwsted said:

Hi. I have all the achievements and the survivor ones I did in soloq. Feel free to ask me anything if you need tips. Some missions have changed for the better, especially with the hatch rework and the retiring of Stranger Things. So, when I did them they were on hard mode compared to now and what I went through might not be so relevant anymore.

Most of the killer ones can be farmed, if you're really having trouble with them. Although, I did them the hard way. So, I can help with that because there are many spicy ones.

I'd say the most obnoxious achievement out of the recent ones is Outbreak Breakout.

The most difficult one in general, especially in solo, is Left for Dead.

I love this! Congrats on getting them all!

I would love to hear your advice for Rescue Mission (5 pallet saves), Outbreak Breakout (did you have a special build or strategy for it?) and Expert Generalist (which two perks did you take?).

I luckily got Left for Dead a long time ago when a friendly Billy decided to let me go!

  • @WesCravenFan said:

    I have Skilled Huntress.

I'm scared to do the Nurse one where you have to do a series of blinks and land a Grab.

This is going to sound boring, and it's not really an achievement this way, but it's super easy to do in a farm game. :)

Let them know you're friendly, blink around a bit for funsies and then oops, I grabbed you. I don't like to get achievements this way but sometimes you've got to do what you've got to do.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    I'm down to 4.

In the void she walks 41 out of 500 (shows how little I play nurse)

Skilled Huntress 5 out of 20 (I suck at long distance hits. The 5 I have is down to an AFK survivor and another survivor willing to keep picking up the AFK player. )

Outbreak Breakout 11 out of 20 (what a painful achievement)

Cruelty Loves Company 41 out of 50 (I don't like playing Knight. I should just get it over with since it will only take a match or two)

My aim is to get them done before the next chapter but I don't know. I don't have a burning desire to play Nurse and I have so much to go.

Same haha, I've been forcing myself to play Nurse and I'm now at 200/500. It's taking forever.

I farmed the 20 Huntress hits with a friendly bunch of survivors that somehow understood what I was doing.

Outbreak Breakout I'm at 10/20! I feel like that's an achievement that very very slowly achieves itself... Which isn't really fun.

It's kind of a terrible change.

It encourages tunneling and camping AND DH users will fight over unhooks.

It should be take a protection hit. Thematically consistent with David too

That would be such a good and thematic change it angers me that that isn't what they went with.

  • You're conveniently forgetting about the global healing nerf and the medkit nerf on top of CoH no longer giving access to self-healing, effectively deleting solo queue while barely affecting SWF.

    But yes, 'two'.

  • @Crazewtboy said:

Thanks for the responses! I did plan on using the hatchet add-ons to increase carrying capacity. Was looking for any other methods to possibly make it easier

It's not going to be particularly fun but you could camp a hook and throw hatchets at the unhooker(s) when they come for the save. It makes them easy targets because they'll be up close and standing still while unhooking.

  • I agree, sadly.

As killer, I don't tunnel and I get absolutely destroyed in like 5 minutes game after game after game and it's demoralizing. I don't understand why I keep facing these solid teams when I only get 0-1 kill every game.

As survivor, I face killers that do tunnel and the games are absolutely miserable as well.

I don't have fun on either side. :(

To piggyback back a bit off of EvilSerje on survivor:

    • There are some really good videos on basic looping. They'll give you some basics to practice such as 'hugging' loops to gain max rotations before a pallet drop, tile running, and how to fast vault even tricky windows/angles. The biggest skill to focus on at first, IMO, is camera control.
    • Yes, gens are hugely important to get done, but taking a few seconds at the start to suss out the Killer and see if they are headed in your direction (lethal pursurer is a pretty popular perk) is something that I've found very useful in SoloQ. Denying a quick first chase is often better than a few seconds of gen time that's likely to get kicked back to nothing. You can also then sneak around to an area that the Killer has already patrolled and snag a gen that might be more important to get done.
    • In the first few seconds of the game, take a moment to take stock of where you're at on the map and what's around you - loops, LOS blockers, windows, and more. Do the same when you go to get on a gen so you can have an idea of where you want to go depending on what direction the Killer comes from.
    • As far as endgame saves, if you just want to practice, then shrug off that you might die. Consider it a victory if you get the other person out. However, definitely pick your battles if you're trying to practice successfully getting yourself and the other surv out. (ex: don't go for an unhook in the middle of the map when the doors haven't been touched and you know the Killer has NOED. I have seen this happen while hanging on said hook. 😥) If you fail, that's okay, just think about what happened and what you can do better next time. You might even get the bonus of a Killer who rewards not leaving the other person with a Hatch or door. It's rare, but it happens.

.......Unless I have an escape challenge. If I have one of those, I'm yeeting myself out that door as soon as I can.

    • Finally, head on a swivel. This is part of camera control, but it truly surprises me how many survivors never look around when they are sitting on a gen or when they are running from one objective to the next, a Blight smacks them from seemingly out of nowhere. But had they been looking around, they might have seen him and been able to react.

There's more when it comes to perks, individual Killers, etc, but the above, I think, can apply to any map or Killer. If you're playing SoloQ, well, it's a crap shot. That's just SoloQ.

Thanks so much for taking the time to add these tips! It's honestly heart-warming everyone is being so helpful. 😊

You need to step outside your comfort zone. Don't go into games worrying about escaping or killing. Go into the games with the sole intention of gaining experience and building confidence. The rest will come naturally once you've achieved those.

I try but it's so easy to get caught up in trying to win. Thanks for the advice!

    Honestly yeah

Playing solo I usually die (which I’m fine with) because I don’t enjoy stealth and I prefer chases

Playing killer I usually only get 1-2 kills because I’d rather not focus on defending gens as SM but using her power in chase alongside perks.

But tbh I’m well past caring about winning and would rather just have a fun match

It honestly reassures me that someone like you, whom I see post often on these forums and can't but assume is an experienced player, can relate to what I'm feeling. Thanks for that. :)

We all have games which simply are cursed and sometimes, the whole day is a curse. Doing a break and come back after a while to a game you like is also a thing what gives something like a "fresh" start and fills up batteries.

I think you're definitely right about some days just being worse than others. I had a good few games today for the first time in a while and I'm feeling good about it!

  • @Xernoton said:

If you want to get better, try and find out where your shortcomings lie. For example you could be great at positioning and decision making as a survivor but bad in chase. Once you know, you can try and practise these things. Take a chase and run a tile you don't feel comfortable of. Also, play both sides. As a killer you will see how other survivors play around different structures and as a survivor you will notice how other killers mindgame and prioritize.

Don't worry about the game feeling hard on both sides. I'm pretty much in the same boat. DBD is a hard game in general. Just focus on having fun. Eventually you'll get better.

As survivor, my chases are definitely my biggest shortcoming. I'll know what to do but I won't be able to actually pull it off most of the time.

You're right about focusing on having fun, it's why I usually focus on my challenges. It's just that I've completed all of them and I'm waiting for new ones to come out, so winning or losing is all I have to focus on at the moment and it can get discouraging when all you do is lose.

  • @MrPsych said:

What's your stance on ranged killers? Maybe your killer experience will click more with killers like Huntress, Deathslinger, Trickster or get an hybrid of melee and ranged like Nemesis.

I would argue that killer is probably the most accessible it's been right now, but matchmaking is thinking way too highly of you. I had a similar problem when I stopped playing for a year and came back: I'd get destroyed by about every group of survivors I'd face no matter what. But eventually I got put where I did belong and things finally got more manageable.

And yeah I do get your survivor woes. Every time I play killer, I find that survivors can effortlessly waste my time around tiny loops and the likes, but the moment I try to do what the survivors do, I get downed within 10 seconds. I'd argue you don't need to be great at every aspect of survivor to have a good time at it, I'm happy just repairing gens and going for rescues with heal-ready builds. Even though you and I might not be great at chases, one good thing to remember is to try and lure the killer away from everyone and everything. Either you'll waste their time enough for a gen to pop or they'll half heartedly chase you to not give up on a good gen setup.

I'll say plenty of good advice also got posted in here so feel free to digest everything slowly. Like about everything, the only way to get better at DBD is just to play it. Knowledge of the game also will serve you well, but nothing will beat actual experience.

I used to love playing Deathslinger before he got nerfed, and Nemesis is one of my favorites as well. Maybe I should give them another try, especially Nemesis, I seem to have forgotten about him.

Thanks for your advice and for your kind words!

To get good at solo queue take off exhaustion perks. Don't get accustomed to the crutch. Focus on getting better at looping, timing, and map awareness.

Going for the saves you think you can't get away from are the ones you should go for. They teach you how to get better. You can't be afraid of not escaping when trying to get better at the game.

You are definitely right, but I'm also scared if I don't escape enough times, I will get stuck in the infamous 'mmr hell' people sometimes talk about. I'll try to go for more saves!

  • @EvilSerje said:

Bro, when I just came to DbD, it was owerwhelming (even back then when life were simplier and not so many perks). But later it all come to some CRUCIAL points that you missing, fixing them would improve you greatly.

Small example: after getting my 100th sacrifice I still couldn't get how it is possible to get survivor without bulldozing all pallets and in some loops. I started investigating and found.... ta-dam! Lounge attack! Didn't know about it before, but after that things got a lot easier.

And there were many stages when I was struggling, and after certain personal "level up" progress went further.

Basic "level-ups" for the killer, that improved my perfomance drastically:

    • Gens almost always more important than surivors. Denying certain gens and hitting everyone gives much more pressure than even downing one, go hook him and then start another chase. Gen could be done at the same time, because:
    • Always remember: if you don't bother survivor, he would most likely do gen. It's a law and you always keep that in mind. Learn to macroplay. That goes with next statement:
    • Your MAIN objective is denying survivors of their objective. Hooking and killing them is somewhat "byproduct" of your main objective. Hitting all 4 instead of downing one? Great, they will go heal instead of DOING GENS. You downed one, but see another one, go after him, third one will have to safe first one INSTEAD of DOING GENS. Etc.
    • Before recent patch, I would recommend to do all killers adepts, because I don't know better "training mode" to understand killer and how to harass survivors with him. But now they butchered the challenge (you need just kill all 4 no matter how). Nevertheless you could set this challenge for yourself: get at least 9 hooks, prolong match more than 10 minutes, chase everyone, don't allow majority of gens be done in the first minutes and not allow escape through exit gates.
    • Do not camp and tunnel (see statement 2). It will stunlock your skill on easy wins early on, but leave completely helpless against decent teams. If they win, well, gg, what of it. But you can retrospect the match and see what you did wrong and what you could do.
    • Just some things that come from experience: predict survivor movements, shortcut their paths in chase, get familliar with maps, know loops and simple mindgames (for example, how and when hide red stain in shack and what direction choose), zone survivors, etc. Good survivors could influence the match on macro, but in chase you are set the rules.
    • Watch some streamers on YT and their gameplay. Can get some ideas from them.
    • Most important thing: enjoy. Everyone escape? GG. What did you lose? Nothing. Killer role is the most fun and where you always play (comparing to either sit with holding M1 or dangling from a hook whole match). Don't play like salty sweatlord that cling to a single kill and render other players like archnemesis that crapped on your door and killed you hamster. You win? Let last surivor go. Or gift him hard achievement (like "Left for dead" or "Outbreak breakout"). You won't believe how many kind words you will see in endgame chat.

Well, as for survivor...... I'm still struggling with it. Don't know how to improve anymore, you are really dependant on your team and killer playstyle. Most of the times you literally can't do anything. What I aquired yet:

    • first hit the most "problematic" gens. Gens on open areas, gens that close to each other, etc.
    • detect what killer you get and what playstyle he use. If he is camper/tunneler, nothing much you can do, unless the first target is god-looper.
    • do not chase around hooked survivor, also find a way to be annoying to draw attention from hook (like impudently doing gen near hooked survivor)
    • unfortunately, cannot use many perk builds if you don't want to die fast, survivor is hugely perk dependant. I think it is personal job to sift through perks and found ones that crucial for you. But one thing is for certain: Kindred is a MUST HAVE! Hands down. Helps not only you, but your team as well. My go to build is Kindred + CoH + SB + WoO/Distortion/Fogwise

But really I don't know what more to say about survivors, it is very frustrating and boring experience. Maybe I'm missing some crucial thing, but didnt find it yet (I'm 2K hours)

Thank you so much for taking the time to write that post, there was a lot of good advice in there! I will try out your tips and most of all I will try not to get disheartened the next time I play the game. 😊

Pretty much in the same boat. I'm escaping in solo's every 7th match id say. I give a good account of myself in solos but there's only so much one can do. Last night was a classic example. Got stomped by a Wraith who had 3 hooks at 5 gens. I then play as Knight and got to 3 gens with 0 hooks lol. Managed to turn it around and get a 3k before letting the last live, but what a sweatfest I find all games as Oni and Knight.

I'm glad it's not just me then!

The game in which I got destroyed was also as Knight. I've stopped playing him now thinking maybe he's just not very good, but I also get deleted as Wesker, so...

On topic, I'm not even going to buy this killer so that I can't have her dailies show up. 😎 I'm not really an achievement completionist in this game because there's some achievements I can't be bothered to get.

    Honest Trailer:

    • Guards a 3-gen.
    • Can do nothing but M1 in chase so you constantly have to break chase...
    • 30 - 40 minute matches inside a triangle, working your ass off for nothing.
    • Radar is cool, but ultimately just a gimmick since you can't do anything real in chase.
    • Practically useless against seasoned survivors.
    • Great if you like being disappointed.

I played against her once and it was a super long back and forth in a 3-gen she camped from the very start and she ended up only getting two kills because she finally committed to a chase she shouldn't have because she herself got tired of camping a 3-gen.

If that's how all games against her are going to be, I hope I don't see her often...

  • @Peanits said:

Will try to keep this short, but matchmaking is incredibly complex so apologies if this ends up being long.

There's a couple big misconceptions with MMR, and probably the most common one is how it estimates where you should be. No matchmaking system in any game- even games like chess which pioneered these ranking formulas over many years- is able to take a single match and accurately assess your abilities. There will always be too many factors at play for that to be accurate. Even if you use a different metric or a bunch of metrics, like chase time, hooks, pallets used, generators completed, healing, etc., there are still outside factors that need to be considered. Was your opponent (the Killer in this case) playing well, or were you only doing well because the were making a lot of mistakes? Likewise, did you do poorly because they're amazing at the game? Did your teammates do their part to help ensure your good plays worked, or did they let you down?

Even if you had a human sit there and watch your match, it would still be impossible for them to stick an accurate number on you after watching just one match. The best they could do is a ballpark estimate. They don't know you, they haven't seen you play against higher caliber/lower caliber opponents before. They only have this one match to go off of.

The matchmaking system is no different. It cannot tell how amazing you are from a single match because that is an impossible task, so it doesn't even try. Instead, the system is designed to look at your performance over the course of many matches. This way, due to the law of averages, you will gradually move towards the place where you should be. You might lose two matches and win the next four. You're up overall from where you started.

And because there's no way to accurate take every factor into consideration, it does this by using a proxy condition. Yes, kills or escapes are not the only thing that makes a good player good! But if you're amazing in a chase and can last for several minutes, more often than not, that will lead to a win. If you play well, your chances of escaping will rise. Or if a Killer plays well, their chances of killing the Survivors will rise. This isn't something that's exclusive to Dead by Daylight either, just about every game will use a similar metric for matchmaking (even if it doesn't show it). You'd be hard pressed to find a game that successfully factors in dozens of things rather than using the outcome of a match.

This is also important because the matchmaker's sole job is to find you matches where you have a roughly equal chance of winning or losing. It doesn't care how you do it, whether you played super well or you used every crutch in the book. It's a cold, emotionless machine that's solely trying to put you up against opponents where your strategy- whatever that may be- works about half of the time. It is not trying to pass judgement on you as a player, not trying to make you feel bad for losing or claim you're amazing for winning. It's simply looking at the facts: If you won, rating goes up, if you lost, rating goes down. And over the course of several matches, you'll almost always end up moving in the right direction.

This is a big part of the reason why your rating is not shown. It's not meant to be something you obsess over or focus on. It's sole purpose is to find you fair matches. It will go down sometimes when you don't feel like it should, but it will also go up more often than not if you are truly below where you should be.

It's crucial for a matchmaking system to have a clear win condition. The winners rating needs to go up, and the losers' ratings need to go down. If it's a draw, they stay the same (although this isn't common). If this is not the case and both people can win simultaneously, you end up in situations where people can endlessly climb in rating rendering the entire matchmaking system useless. It would quickly become a reflection of someone's playtime more than their actual abilities.

The emblem system is actually a perfect example of this. Since emblems are independent of the other side's performance, it's possible for both the person who 'won' and the person who 'lost' to pip. The result was exactly what was expected: By the end of a month, pretty much anyone who played enough would find themselves in the higher ranks because on average they were pipping more than they were depipping. This meant: A) By the end of a month, a large number of people with a wide variety of skill levels were being matched together, making matchmaking feel random, and B) By the end of a month, the lower ranks (people who had not played much) would suffer from excessively long queue times since the majority of people had already ranked up past them. If the matchmaking system is producing long wait times for some and horribly uneven matches for others, it's failing to do its job.

In short, don't sweat it if you "lose" by the matchmaker's standard. It expects you to lose some matches, and it knows that you will win matches to offset those losses. If you think you did well, you did well. Don't let an invisible number that you can't see take that away from you.

Thanks for this well-written explanation! I certainly feel better now.

I’m thinking to buy him now. Seeing how I hate how boring it is to get looped by good survivors (I play mainly M1 killers), and seeing the complaints survivors have, I want to start playing him so they can feel how it feels to be helpless at loops.

This sounded like the start of your villain saga. 😆

I really enjoy playing him, he just has some issues.

His skill ceiling is very low. If he could swap between guards or less info was givin to the survivors maybe he could have more but there just isn’t much there.

He’s very weak. Now don’t get me wrong I think he’s better than people think he is, I even went on a 54 win streak with him. However, that doesn’t delude me to thinking he’s good, he’s not. Against survivors that actually know what they’re doing he gets dumpsters on. You’ll land a perfect long range guard snipe and they’ll literally just circle a rock a couple times to grab the flag. I’ve tried to push what he can do but there’s a limit and it’s low, you’ll just lose if you get a really good swf group on a bad map.

His addons are trash. Like 95% of his addons are near worthless and the couple that aren’t are basically required to play him properly, so even if his other addons were decent you couldn’t afford to run them. Not only does this lower his skill expression even more but it lowers the fun as well since there’s very few options of build creativity in his addons like some killers have. If you’re curious those two auto lock addons for me are map of the realm and call to arms, some people don’t throw call to arms in there but If you aren’t running that addon I don’t think you’re playing him to his full potential.

To be solid his guards would need more reliable hits but at the same time if they did he’d be awful to play against since it’s just AI’s downing people. He’s stuck in this bad design spot. I think the way to correct this and simultaneously raise his skill cap is to increase the guards speed based on how close you land the guard to the survivor. This way if you’re skilled enough they can be stronger but it won’t help bad players and hurt the low mmr people. Same goes for swapping between his guards, this raises his skill cap and potential for skilled Knights to handle better players but bad knights wouldn’t be able to utilize this. That’s how you buff killers without hurting the lower common denominator, you raise the skill potential.

Plus fix his addons please, and having to literally back up every time we want to throw a guard near objects, this is just ridiculously clunky.

(And the bug where his guards go around a pallet that get dropped instead of through, please this is STILL in the game)

This was really nice to read!

I do agree he's better than people say he is but I also don't expect to win against great teams of survivors, that's just not my ambition. I guess I'm just here to have some fun as killer, get some kills if I can but I don't expect to win every game. Of course, I try to win and it sucks to lose against a good team, but I can live with that and don't feel the need to learn more mechanically difficult yet more rewarding killers, if that makes sense.

I actually don't use addons in general, ever. Something about using a finite resource that could run out and I wouldn't have access to if I wanted to use it irks me. I'm weird, I guess. But you've convinced me to give these addons a try!

Both of your suggestions for change are also really nice. Would love to see those happen, especially the extra speed for landing a guard close to a survivor!

Thanks for taking the time to reply. :)

Survivors don't like... you know what I'm saying? It doesn't stop. Play and enjoy whatever you want, ignore the cry babies.

You're absolutely right, but the Knight hate seems to be strong lately. Maybe because he's newer and he's featured in the current tome?

    @Phasmamain said:

Fair enough if you enjoy him. I just think he’s painfully boring and lacks any real skill ceiling to improve with

But I understand some people don’t care about improving and just want to have fun which is completely fair and knight is a great low skill anti loop killer for that

I agree his power is very straightforward and only takes like three games to learn and beyond that point, there's not really anything new to learn. But yeah, that's exactly it: he's a decent killer that doesn't require much learning or practice to use well, but also doesn't really go beyond that, and that's fine. I like that. It's also something I can very easily pick back up after not having played the game for a while.

I'm in the faction that doesn't particularly enjoy playing against the knight - but I could see myself enjoy playing as the knight. If his movement didn't make me somewhat nauseous. So I'll never know.

The main reasons I don't particularly like going against the Knight are a) that is more of a game problem in general: the near omnipresence of a four-gen area which makes playing for a three gen extremely easy with certain killers. And b) that his ability to just go "no" by plopping down a guard feels a lot like the pallet-DH; damned if you do, damned if you don't. In the beginning you can go for a different loop - but if you don't have a super efficient gen-hammering squad the second person in chase won't be able to make a safe loop.

He shares b) with Artist - though she is even more infuriting in that regard (Frustration level: DH and then getting sniper-flashied)

All that being said; if you enjoy him you enjoy him and that's ok. Nothing wrong with that. I enjoy playing Nemo (and hate going against him). And yes, I also enjoy playing Artist.

Just have fun with Knight <3

I understand both of your points, and I do agree with point B that if the game drags on too long, there simply aren't any other loops left after he pushes you out of the first one. I'm not sure if that's good or bad. Thanks for being so kind. <3

    @Piruluk said:

My problem is that you can't really improve with him because 0 skill expression on both side when playing Knight

Yeah, the skill floor is basically also the skill ceiling, but I'm personally okay with that. Not every killer has to have special mechanics or tricks to learn, it's nice to have something you can just pick up whenever!

  • I remember really liking this hook when I first saw it. It felt like hanging a survivor from the gallows!

It's pretty fun to use if you can get over to gens and into chase immediately, since then you don't get any SB to get away and way lower chance of DH. No recovery while running, after all.

Yeah, in that sense the perk is fine, but in the sense of ensuring that Pain Res blocks gens with DMS (which is also what Otz advertised in the video), I don't really see that working anymore. I'd personally use something more impactful than five seconds of exhaustion to finish the build.

I mean, its not even a rare build tbh.

Pain Res + Deadmans is a well known combo.

Fearmonger pretty much guarantees the block on top of being a good perk on Knight.

And Jolt is a good perk for M1 killers.

I personally think Fearmonger is useless in terms of making Pain Res and DMS work. Anyone with eyes can see the killer picked up the survivor, previously because the hp bar would freeze but now because it's literally shown in the HUD. Even with Fearmonger, no gens will get blocked.

Which is why I'm pretty certain this person copied the build from one of Otz' latest videos. When making your own build, Fearmonger would be replaced immediately, but when the biggest content creator tells you it's good, you keep using it.

  • Make fun of me all you like, I'm 90% certain that's where he got the build from.

    Infectious and doctor basically

This challenge reads 'Make 8 survivors scream from the effect of Hex: Face the Darkness.'

Not your usual 'Make 8 survivors scream while using Hex: Face the Darkness'. This time around it really seems to imply you have to get value from the perk you're running.

  • I see you're using one of Otz's builds too. 👀

Dead hard was broken before they patched it. It's just skill issue at this point. That small heal boost is nothing. Pain resonance isn't fine especially combining it with DMS. It shouldn't work with DMS and Merciless Storm so they should remove 'screaming' and change to current progression.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3342360#Comment_3342360

    Us vs them. 🙄😴

That's exactly what I'm pointing out, yes. Well spotted!

  • So what you're saying is:

    "Killer perk nerf is fine

and survivor perk, survivor perk and survivor perk are fine too. There are no problems with these perks. What would balance the game though is nerfing killer perk. I also like the survivor perk buff it actually is useful now which brings more perk viability on the table."

Gee, I wonder which role you play.
