Is it ever really a good idea to be angry at people in a video game though?
Yes, there are perfectly good reasons. Has a win ever been stolen from you by a cheap tactic for example? Have you ever lost an extremely close game? Have you ever lost a match with a high reward (money / ingame currency) ? Can you stop a human from feeling these emotions? What you need to do is either leave or understand their frustration. Understanding each other is part of being human.
Should this be encouraged? Absolutely not, but unless you have a way to change human nature then there's no way to stop this.
We'll see that in about 100 years when we're totally going to alienate ourselves from human emotions. I brought my tin foil hat for this one. And no, I won't start a discussion about this last topic ^.
No, no, not good reason. Good idea. Plenty of reasons to get mad at people in a video game, but is it ever a good idea to?
No, it's not. Even if they deserve it. In fact, especially if they deserve it. Feeding into your anger and lashing out accomplishes nothing, for nothing. You may not ask for your anger, but it's still yours. And if you decide to spray it on everyone within range, that's your bad, period, end of discussion.
You can't and shouldn't expect everyone to empathize and support you when you rage-- you have to have the self-responsibility to get a handle on it yourself.
-

Like, yes, it's understandable that it happens. But I feel like it's something you should be avoiding instead of excusing.
If I actually got mad enough to lash out at people because I didn't win the game, i'd actually like to be clowned on so I can feel properly ashamed of it and not want to do it again. Because it's bad to do.

If being the operative word there.
...I never used that word, and your comment has two usages of that word. I don't know what you mean by this.
I don't think debuffing SWF is really viable either, since no matter what you do you're gonna catch a lot of people just casually playing with their friends, but if you really really really wanted to give them a debuff, I think that's the least intrusive to solo survivors.
It's really not the least intrusive, though. You're getting their teammates killed faster, which makes it worse for them. I'd wager you'd see a key/hatch meta develop among solo survivors, since their SWF teammates are more likely to be killed off.
That one.
And like.. yeah, getting them killed faster would be the point of giving the killer any buff against the SWF. If it didn't, it'd be kind of pointless.
Again, I don't agree with the whole idea, but if you really wanted to, that's the least offensive buff I can think of.

Any survivor getting killed off faster will invariably affect the other survivors. Furthermore, SWF are less likely to rescue solo survivors, so that's another drawback for the solo survivors. Finally, that just feels like punishing people for playing SWF.
I'll state right now that there is (probably) no way to debuff SWF or buff killers in such a way that it doesn't affect solo survivors and/or doesn't feel unfair.

-
Giving a permanent bonus to the killer for going against 2-3 man SWFs would inevitably end up punishing the solo que players unlucky enough to end up in the wrong match.
I've suggested it before, and i'll do it again-- if you're really set on giving the killer a gameplay bonus, if you're in a match against a SWF, give a level of Bloodlust corresponding to the size of the SWF when in chase with one of the members. That way, the solo queues can play the match like normal whilst getting a distinct advantage against the SWF.

I just wished there would be a casual mode.... I mean....this game is really unbalanced itself (too much diff on killers, addons, SWF or Solo, maps RNG). At the end I think it´s the players who have to "balance" artificially the game. U can easily gen rush a Bubba or a piggy, but as survivor u must gen rush a spirit or nurse if u wanna have a little chance. Also, sometimes more effective play as surv is let someone die on hook. But that sucks as survivor, and I won´t do it.
What we have is the casual mode.
There's no incentive to rank up, the game balance is a nightmare, the game can be decided before it even begins by what map loads up, you could have 20 pallets or 7 on the exact same map, every update that fixes 5 things breaks 10 more, the power imbalance between killers and perks is mindboggling, and actual top-tier competitive play in this game is equal parts painful and boring.
Believe me, i'd like to filter the perspiration princess slugfectious Nurse out of my queue pool when i'm running a funny meme build too, but until BHVR majorly overhauls the entire game (which will never happen), this is the best we got.
-
What's gonna stop the sweatlord $7000 gaming chair champions from queueing up for casual and destroying casuals?

Mmr killer will just cheese the system to get easy opponents, so switching killers isn't allowed.
If MMR, lock killers in. If not, don't lock killers.
-
Lobby has a 60 second waiting time.
First 30 seconds, survivors get to switch stuff around-- characters, items, perks, whatever. After that, they get locked in.
Last 30 seconds, killer gets to switch stuff around. Killers, addons, perks, whatever.
Boom. Fixed.

If they refuse to touch gens, totems, etc, then they are holding the game hostage just as much as the killer trapping survivors in a corner. The game is not progressing, normal gameplay is not happening, and they've been doing this the last 26 minutes at this point.
They were indeed finding gens because like I said I had to fight to keep 3 from being done at the same time.
Mmmmmmmi wouldn't say as much holding the game hostage. The survivor trapped in the corner by the killer can do literally nothing other than DC if the killer never decides to do anything, whilst the killer can technically find the survivors and kill them. It's just unreasonably hard to.
Still holding the game hostage and still blows though.
-
Wasting 3 idiots' time for the price of 1 is a pretty good deal.
-
No
No
Yes
No.
Hatch simply needs to spawn under different conditions: only when one person is left alive, or all gens are done. Then, give keys an interruptible opening time. No more abruptly cutting the game short, keys are now that little endgame boost that might just come in handy-- like moris. Exit gates should be more balanced anyways, but if hatch was removed, it would come down to "Are you a mobility killer? If not, probably lose the last person. If yes, almost certainly 4K".

DbD's biggest problem is those goddamn dirty filthy survivors, and we need a plan to stop them.

Very well, allow me to plumb the depths of the One Survivor Omnimind once more to find a satisfying answer to your question.
-
It makes Nem a lot better and I think it should stay, it just needs to be visually communicated a lot better.
After all, from the survivor's perspective, they made the correct play and very clearly dodged the whip, only to get punished for it. It does not look like it should have a lingering hitbox-- it's a whip-- but it does.

Keeping it as it is already ruins the game for the ENTIRE killer player base. Why is it that everything in this game needs to be balanced for survivors and not the other way around?
Do you want an actual solution or do you just want to shove the problem off to the other side?
-
Lost a match, eh?

@MisterH said:
Of course I agree.
It's just a suggestion to prevent a sad situation in which the first victim is eliminated straight, and for a healthy gaming atmosphere.
Completely understandable. In a world where BHVR put more work into game health than the cosmetic store, everyone would be able to play a full, satisfying match-- which is what i'd really hope they'd actually start trying to do sometime.
But as it stands, necessary evil. Sometimes you just have to take someone out to make pressure against an extremely strong team. Take someone out early to lessen the risk of losing the game early.
-
Tunneling and camping are a necessary evil in the absence of a major gameplay overhaul.

Good talk.

The problem is finding a solution that doesn't crack the game in half for a significant part of the playerbase.

If they're already going to die as the last Survivor, IE last alive and being chased and they run into a Locker and refuse to get out, yeah its a bit petty if all Myers has been doing has been Tombstone killing people.
Is it legal? Of course, it's whatever to me, despite being a bit annoying (already got the Trophy long ago)..but it is still 100% petty if it is certain they aren't getting out, the Killer has 3/4 Survivors Tombstoned and the last denies it by just staying in a locker (or worse Disconnects & denies the kill).
If they DC, ######### 'em, agreed.
But hopping into a locker turns "Absolutely 0% chance" into "not-too-far-off-but-still-not-0% chance". Especially if you think they're just going to let you wiggle off.
-
They..
don't want to die?
-
I'm pretty sure there's as many threads complaining about it as there are threads about it right now.

The thing that has me wondering is that Pinhead isn't really that much of a slasher villain.
Or even really the villain half the time.
He's a demon, sure, but most of the people dumb enough to solve the Lament Configuration for him to drag off are total monsters. He's fully capable of being reasoned with, he won't take you if you're tricked or forced into solving it, and he's even helped against actually malevolent villains. The only time he's a straight-up villain is when he gets Vergil'd, and even that doesn't stick.
Buuuuuut he'll probably throw hooks on chains at you or something.
-
Happened to me once.
Ghostface made it seem like he wanted me to pick up the girl he just downed-- I, foolishly, trusted him and tried to heal her, only to get a stab.
I managed to get away and get out, thankfully. He even admitted postgame that he was just trying to trick me into getting close enough to hit.
It's kind of mental.

If everyone alive is at the exit gate, the
timer should count down 5 times fasterEGC should end immediately and kill all the survivors. If everyone is alive, count down the EGC timer 5 times faster
If everyone is on the ground with no way to get back up, they should be given the option to bleed out 10 times faster
Let's just try and cut away with these dumb ways for people to waste your time for no reason because they hate you.

Because it's everywhere and they continue to insist its FNAF when it clearly isn't.
They are proving their own negative stereotype correct.
It clearly wasn't when BHVR did a whoopsie and confirmed it, but the whole theorycrafting and mystery solving angle's been a big thing in FNAF.
I can't remember the last time they teased something in a piecemeal subtle-hints-in-seemingly-innocuous-pictures way, but that probably lit up a couple neurons something fierce in the fanbase.

This is the "someone called me a tunneler and now I need to go vindicate myself on the forums" march.

Yh so this killer have a problem with pallets. And yh i know it depends on the pallet.
You can mindgame a jungle gym. Most of the time its still better to break the pallet. So if i can get a hit with my power on a pallet, but it takes too much time, its not viable.
The problem is not getting a down. Its about the time you need for it.
Again, gen speeds are a problem, but there's generally things you can do against pallets. Everyone's skill matters there.
Unless it's a god pallet or you're a Nurse/spirit.

Idk. Do you run into a deadzone against those killer or do you run to a pallet?
You can certainly dont play as braindead against some killer then others, but you can still delay chases enough that gens get done before you are dead.
You run to a pallet because them and windows are literally your only defense.
Gen speeds are a problem, but barring dumb maps and ridiculously safe pallets you can mindgame/killer power your way through most of them.
-

And gen are so fast that those killer need to tunnel and slug to be able to have a chance on the highest level. Damn those killer are overpower
Y'know, I'm glad that's what you managed to take away from that.
-
Survivor takes no skill until they go against a killer where their skill doesn't matter.
Aight.
-
@TicTac said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2420399#Comment_2420399
But against every other killer i can just drop pallets and im safe. So my skill doesnt matter. Looping is only hard if you take risks bc you know your teammates take forever for 5 gens.
I mean.. huntress, trickster, Deathslinger, Pyramid Head, Nemesis, Doctor, and Demo don't have problems with pallets.
They're meant to be a defense?
-
The problem is that S rank killers are S rank specifically because they completely ignore the defenses of the Survivor. Played properly, there's literally nothing you can do against them.
So your skills at the most fun part of the game are totally irrelevant.

- i'm not supporting the initial fnaf creator who would still benefit from this
- it would lure in a lot of his supporters who share his bigoted views, so the game would be hell for everyone lgbtq+. You remember the anti-lgbtq+ threads when the pridecharm was released. with fnaf you'd predictably would have an influx of people who would see harassing lgbtq+ etc folks as justified. this sadly isn't hyperbole.
so in short: no. if it's fnaf, I'm uninstalling.

People were already furious about Trickster. I'm expecting everyone to be furious each time because: it doesn't fit my personal taste/vision of the game, I don't like X license, it doesn't look like the character from the license, power's weak...
Oh I know, but the Springtrap fury train would be a whole other monster entirely.
