Has anyone tried looking at them as individual numbers and not one big number? I'm not good at deciphering so I don't know how to solve it, but I feel like we've all been so focused on the number as one big thing instead of a bunch of little things.

Once again, I'm not sure what it would entail, but I feel like it's a new route we could take.

I've been trying things, but nothing that amounted to anything just yet.

Though I've also not tried the new number(s) yet so… maybe?

If I do figure anything out, I'm sure you'll see me mentioning it.

From an email I just got about the event…

    12345, I believe it says.

I'm going to be real, JVAGJ is complete nonsense where you need to fully assume everything the acronym is short for despite it quite literally not ever being used in F13 (Tommy and Gina never even met)

Not saying the anniversary chapter isn't Jason, it probably is, but if this is our teaser for him, I guarantee it has a different solution than just tying a bunch of random character names and losing an 'and' along the way.

The fact one of the only numbers 493,922,017,303,481 is divisible by is 13 should be much more telling than taking the number result, randomly modifying it, then converting it to letter gibberish and making random assumptions about what the gibberish means.

Another compelling theory, which i haven't seen mentioned yet, is that the teaser with the letter is 13 seconds long, which lines up with other cryptic time-related comments on twitter.

Oh no, I totally agree. I seen it on Reddit, then i checked for myself. It's undeniably Jason. There's absolutely no doubt about it. I kinda wish I hadn't seen the post tbh.

If you're talking about the theory I've seen…

It relies on an assumption by dividing it by 13 (which we can't know, unless you already assume it's gonna be f13),

Plus it results in syntactic inconsistency. JVAGJ - 'Jason Voorhees, And Ginny & Jarvis'… has two 'ands', but only one is covered in the acronym, which doesn't make sense.

  • Boo!

Where's the fun in a puzzle if you're just gonna let an AI solve it

  • @InternetisDead said:

493,922,017,303,481 so divide this by 13 = 37,994,001,331,037. Now what I did is adding the numbers to each section so 10, 22, 1, 7 and 10, and then I translated them to the corresponding letter of the alphabet. The result is: JVAGJ

What could these letters mean? My believe is Jason Voorhees And Ginny & Jarvis.

    A double 'and', though?

Plus, where does your 'divide by 13' idea come from?

  • Meh. He barely needed changes to begin with, imo.

Yes that is true, but it would require the outcome distribution to be extremely weighted on both the 4K and 0K ends. I think it’s unlikely that the distribution is that skewed, and more likely that it looks more like a normal distribution. Either way, because the devs never provide the data, we have no idea. There’s certainly no way to conclude that “killers win most of their games”

We have no hard numbers, no. But it's entirely possible.

My point is that the average killrate means next to nothing, and using it as a statistic proves nothing.

  • @Your_Dad_Playing_DbD said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4076759#Comment_4076759

Where are you getting this from? The average kill rate is 60%, which is 2.4 kills per game. 2.4 is closer to 2 (a draw) than 3 (a win).

Except averages are deceptive like that. Just because the average is close to 2k, there’s no guarantee that that’s representative of the most common outcomes.

    Between a 10, a 10, a 10, a 0, and a 0, the average is 6, not 10, or 0.

  • Meh. When you go past 120, you very quickly hit the point of diminishing returns.

it's entirely unnecessary, imo, so idk where this 'it's a fact and tested' comes from.

  • @Mooks said:

so according to you a game is competitive when the following conditions are met:

    • there is cheaters
    • Players abuse/exploit broken features
    • The game features a hidden matchmaking rating that the game isnt actively trying to push to the Players

    so…

Which online Multiplayer game do you consider not competitive?

Do all these criteria have to apply or would one or two suffice?

    Is Mario Kart competitive? 🤔

Ah wait, it doesn't hide its MMR.

Well there has been suggestions that the DLC's could give you access to the background that was used when it was released and you could then use it if you want instead of the default one.

I mean, sure, but there's a lot of event lobbies that were pretty cool too. There were a few themes tied to cosmetic collections, like the AoT one.

    2. yes there's things that can be switched on / off on our side depending on requirements
    3. I do not think that's returning as it's not showing in their future plannings.

Regarding the avatar thing, that's a little curious, isn't it? Any idea why Vanilla would decide to drop the avatar system altogether? It just seems integral to the functionality of a forum—being able to see who's who at a quick glance.

Once per trial, while you do not have 2 Hook States and are next to a hooked Survivor,
use Active Ability Button 2 to unhook them:

    They lose 1 Hook State.
    You gain 1 Hook State.
    You scream.
    You gain Exposed for 60/50/40s.

Maybe its me, but I feel like while reading it; my brain reads ''They lose 1 hook state'' and translates it to ''they lose the 1 mark next to their name'', etc.

they do. thats the point of the perk. By using Shoulder, youre essentially absorbing their hook state.

"So now you're also saying people will pick a killer because they align with their cultural or ethnic interests? It seems like you assume people will pick killers for a whole lot of reasons that they probably don't. My secondary survivor is black. I'm not. You don't have to see yourself in a character to like them."

No assumptions. Just hard experience playing with a Japanese vpn

"This "data" is irrelevant for that reason, as they're free. If you try the game for the first time, you're going to pick one of these. Trapper being the poster boy (and being simple) is probably the most likely option for a fresh install to randomly choose."

I'm not quite sure how this rebuts anything I said. If anything it even further proves the point, because if you remove the free killer from the equation, there's even a stronger female bias of ending up in the bottom 10 of killers, where 2 of the female killers who aren't are in fact free.

    "Which, again, contradicts your points."

It does not. It simply reveals a more interesting piece of psychology that's at play here, similarly how female survivors are favoured over male survivors in general as well.

"And what does "seen" and "personal experience" mean exactly?"

It doesn't take too long to find the many female profiles idolizing being moried by killers like Myers, Pinhead, etc. (Or even fandomming Leon, etc. it's pretty widespread)

"I sure am not" (related to "Wouldn't women play as female characters so they can dominate male players as women and live an unlikely fantasy?")

Well you sure make the assumption that women would be interested in dominating men. But like I said, the reality is opposite, women mainly want to be dommed and in cases where it's not it's mostly because it's the guy that wants the dynamic, not the woman, so now you know.

"What do you think of woman maining male survivors then?"

Nothing in particular. For that, Leon seems to be the most frequent pick.

"You're arguing that it's sad that female killers are left in the dust then go on to say the most offensively sexist thing you could have managed."

If you feel like women's own preferences are sexists then I think you simply don't know what that word means. But at least you're willing to admit to some realities of it straight after it. It's simply psychology.

"What hard data? Nightlight's bad and incomplete numbers? The sparse and cherry-picked data BHVR tosses us occasionally? Have there been surveys on why people main who? There is no data. There are just assumptions."

It's quite funny that you are the only person here that's running on assumptions or copius arguments, when my analysis is purely made from numbers.

So here are the numbers for ya:

    Least played killers:
    - Skill Merchant f
    - The Twins f
    - The Hag f
    - The Cenobite
    - The Krasue f
    - The Houndmaster f
    - The Singularity
    - The Nightmare
    - The Artist f
    - The Onryo f

With 41 killers and bottom 10 being comprised of obviously 10, that means any % of around 24.39% would mean this factor had no significance. The further above it, the higher the significance and below 24.39%, meaning a negative significance

    41 killers, 12 female, 7 in bottom 10
Guessing bottom 10 based on being female= 58.3% right guess
(Ahem… apparently a strong bias against picking female characters, for whatever the reasons might be)

    41 killers, 39 male, 3 in bottom 10
Guessing bottom 10 based on being male = 7.69% right guess

    41 killers, 24 unlicensed, 7 in bottom 10
Guessing bottom 10 based on being unlicensed = 29.16% right guess
(No surprise here, licensed killers have a slight bias towards being picked more due to being popular)

    41 killers, 17 licensed, 3 in bottom 10
Guessing bottom 10 based on being licensed = 17.6% right guess

41 killers, 2 no longer purchasable, 1 in bottom 10
Guessing bottom 10 based on being not purchasable = 50% right guess
(No surprise here, not being purchasable anymore heavily increases the chance of being picked less)

    41 killers, 36 not free, 10 in bottom 10
Guessing bottom 10 based on not being free = 27.7% right guess
(No surprise here, not being free does create a slight bias towards the killer being played less)
(ignoring console specific platforms for simplicity)

41 killers, 11 C/D/E/F tier, 2 in bottom 10 (We will use a non-biased tierlist from a popular creator but feel free to use any other)
Guessing bottom 10 based on being weak = 18.18% right guess
(Although why weaker killers are played more might be a surprise to some, keep in mind win-rates look different at lower elos where the majority of the player-base is, where their version of the tierlist would also look different, so it's not as weird as you'd think)

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/IDQC3C26SMME/image.png

Now, I just think it adds insult to injury thinking that even guessing based on survivors being NO LONGER PURCHASABLE would yield a lower success rate than guessing based on them being female. That is just beyond crazy. However, with time as killers age and they no longer become purchasable, this statistic should change, and guessing based on this should eventually end up being the nr1 strategy, with only guessing based on them being women remaining as the second most effective strategy.

Now feel free to pick any other metric, such as them being older killers/ younger killers, etc, none will be as successful as just guessing for the female killers. There's no stronger metric currently than that. Now you can argue about the reasons, but it is undeniable; a killer being female is the strongest metric to guess that she will end up in the bottom 10 of played killers.

Feel uncomfortable with that truth as you please, be in denial about it all you want, but if anyone would not want that to be the case, maybe the Devs/community need to start doing something about that, you know? Instead of being in denial about the giant gender disparity between killers in Dead By Daylight

Well you sure make the assumption that women would be interested in dominating men. But like I said, the reality is opposite, women mainly want to be dommed and in cases where it's not it's mostly because it's the guy that wants the dynamic, not the woman, so now you know.

######### what??? What on earth makes you think that’s the case???

  • We have points now as well, although I am mystified at how the distribution worls. You can view how many you have on your profile.

But there’s lots of features that weren’t there before.

  • It probably is a bug.

I imagine it'll be noticed soon, if it hasn't been already.

I can't be the only one here that feels this is stupid, right? Why do we need a survey to express our disappoinment with cheating? Shouldn't that be a given? That's like the police sending a survey to a crime ridden area asking how the residents feel about crime. It's redundant.

    Yeah, it does feel self-evident.

    My Theory is that:

1: I made them mad of something I did in another match before. There was one I can remember. They decided to go for a save at End game and The Killer had Noed. They Went down right away. I didnt want to risk it so I just left. The killer was near the Hex totem so there was no way for me to save them.

2: I was there killer a match and probably did something dumb to make them mad like I tunneled them or played a killer they didnt like. (Unknown Main)

It may very well just have been someone looking to troll the first sucker they encountered.

  • It either needs a timer, or it becomes visible once the first chase has started.

But I doubt it’ll increase dc’ing. Those players that dc for specific killers are going to do that regardless of when they see what killer it is.

  • Stylistically, I’d prefer spelling low numbers out. It’s kinda ugly otherwise.

Honestly the need to ready up to serve your penalty is insane. Honestly i believe its a way to inflate playtime. Nothing inflates playtime like sitting in queue for a long period of time.
Giving a player a time out is a way of saying to that player "Your clearly not having a good time, close the game and go do something else for a bit" but now if you DC out of anger or saltyness or whatever reason you forced to have the game open which is quite frankly unhealthy for those who DC a lot as they need to take a break from the game for a bit not just sit infront of it waiting.
Other than this a time out penalty isn't really a punishment. Yeah you can't play the game but there is no long lasting punishment for those who DC a lot.
I think the DC penalty needs completely changing anyway. Having a time out is one thing however most players DC because the game isn't going their way and they are salty. Have a different punishment for them.
Some examples of punishments could be.

Remove bloodpoints. For every DC have x amount of bloodpoints removed from them. If they have no BP have a system that allows them to go into negative BP and they then need to actually play games and earn more to have BP to spend again. This isn't the most sevear punishment but it stops progression. For those who DC a lot they would likely have no BP to spend on a new survivor/killer.

remove prestige levels - A more severe punishment for sure but why not after the first DC you start to lose character levels for that character. A work around for those who want to just DC every game would be play a 0 prestige character but a fall back could be timeout if no more levels to remove. Amount of levels removed could be determind by amount of DCs similar to timeouts now.

Remove items and offerings. A percentage loss of items. Having a percentage amount of items, addons and offerings removed for a DC penalty is quite severe but if your DCing a lot of games then you deserve to have a huge penalty.

Obviously any removal of in game items would have to be fine tuned for the amounts but honestly if your DCing enough to get a penalty then you deserve an actual penalty not just a time out.

Ok so it’s that you have to click the button to START the timer. You don’t have to keep the game open once it has started.

  • @tjt85 said:

I agree, it's silly but it is what it is (and probably intentionally this way). So they probably won't be changing it.

Pro tip: If you get hit with a DC penalty, you can hit the ready up button in the lobby to start the penalty count down and it will still run even if you turn the game off. This way you can serve out your penalty while you stay away from the game for a bit.

At least that's what my friend told me, so you'll have to take their word for it… because I, of course, would never dream of DCing.

Can confirm. I had pc troubles a while ago and found this out for myself.

  • Is Fast Track that strong, though? From what I understand, it requires a highly specialised build, and you have to be losing to even get it to proc.
