it's very big and the sounds of paint coming out of the ground kind of remind me of self care/med kit healing so it always distracts me, overall, for dbd standards, it's a good map!

So its not just me I kept thinking I heard people healing and no one was there.

I love the look but it seem way to big like I've been w hard every time I've gotten it.

What most here fail to realize is that vast majority of the playerbase are casuals, to go against s tier killers nurse blight spirit (double speed add on) require knowing every tile and map generated rng and on top of that be creative & random with movement pattern against "godly" nurses. That alone is only seen on 4-10k hours survivors. Sadly 1-3% of the playerbase will not finance an entire company (BHVR)

I don’t see the issue with the remainder of dbds lifespan having gutted killers for the foreseable future when you have 90-95% win rate killers such as nurse, will most reach that mastery most likely not same can be Said about the likelihood of 4x survivors going against that nurse one weak link is enough to wrap things up.

The nurse has like a 40%-45% killrate.

Ok so I've played fair amount of Artist games and I felt like I'd try to go against her as survivor (I was doing fine against her on PTB).

Buuuut, the issue is that nobody seems to play her. I've tried just about 6 games but I was expecting to see at least 1 artist since she just release and is considered pretty good killer.

Unfortunately, no luck. Have you people seem many artists ? If not, why do you think it's the case.

I hope I'm just unlucky, it would be a shame if she was never played.

I just got her to lol 16 so I'm about to go ham with her.

Because of pentimento we can’t cleanse totems, so at least 1 surv is forced to use a boon perk. Do you really think this is good?

You can recleanse it after the killer lights it.

This is gonna be the first part to a series im gonna do whenever a killer drops. I want to hear both sides perspective on the killer.

    SO

Whats your opinion so far on the Artist?

Well my first match lasted about 4 minutes because I only had her scourge hook equipped. Her power seems interesting. I will definitely be back after further investigation.

  • @DemonDaddy said:

Patch notes states that the killer can no longer injure with their power? So we just got another M1 killer?

    This is how I understand it;

Survivors currently swarmed by crows will no longer be injured when activating a power placement but instead have the action bar reset.

Running into them now resets the swarm but if you fire them it will still do damage.

I think this was the spot she need toned down but not for nothing. Reseting the crows isn't enough I think personally survivors can now just run through them for no real downside.

I was thinking maybe add more time to get rid of the crows, let's say it takes 3 seconds to get rid of the crow(not sure the actual time) and you run through the idle crow it adds 2 seconds to remove so instead of 3 it now takes 5.

Oh yeah I know they changed it and I completely agree it sucks. It'll never get past 2, maybe 3 if you're lucky. As long as the survivors are halfway decent they're going to know where those totems are since they already did them.

That build is just a hypothetically interesting way to use the perk despite it being bad.

I don't think it was changed the description was wrong. You can even throw TOTH to make sure there's no blessing going on. I hope it works out well maybe not meta but worth using.

I was so sad when they nerfed it in first hour of PTB...

That perk might be good, if gen penalty was first token.

For what I heard the perk never worked as described originally it was always activated on the second totem they just fixed the description.

Yeah I don't like running pop with deadlock for this reason.

Plaything/retribution/pentimento sounds interesting though; I do think plaything is the best way to actually get pentimento value since it encourages survivors to cleanse totems and not boon them, especially if no one else can interact with it for 90 seconds.

You do know they fixed the description to its the second totem? I feel like as soon as that regression penalty shows up they will be off to cleans that last totem they just did. I really don't think it will ever get pass 2 tokens. Just my opinion though

  • @Snowstruck said:

...and why the hatch "fix" was not enough.

To put it briefly, hatch is simply too unfair still. By the logic of the hatch, the killer should be given at least 1 free kill. I understand that hatch is not a guarantee, but it's still a very high chance the survivor finds hatch first.

IMO, hatch should only spawn should there be ONE survivor left and ALL GENS DONE. That way it's mostly fair. Right now, it is literally a free escape for the last survivor, and it is extremely unbalanced.

I DO ALSO UNDERSTAND that hatch prevents the game from lasting too long due to no gameplay happening. How to solve that? Show the killer the last person's aura every minute or less if said person is not doing a task for longer than x amount of seconds, until said person starts interacting with an objective. That way it's not taking the game hostage. OR SOMETHING.

Hatch right now is just simply STILL unreasonable. Maybe it's just me?

I personally don't have a problem with new hatch. I understand some peoples problem with it though it is a free escape for the survivor not doing there job.

Shrug. Anymore than it would stop survivors being flicky flicky with flashlights and giving photosensitive players issues.

I'm saying that I think the majority of playstyles that survivors find objectionable are a product of killers feeling like it's the only way to win.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2665251#Comment_2665251

Honestly, it's like 'tunneling'. It's basically used as a catch all term for 'I lost and I'm unhappy about it'.

Camping the hook and immediately downing the survivor after the unhook is vanishingly rare, and you have several perks to negate this.

Genrushing...actual genrushing doesn't really have a counter unless you are playing a very specific killer/build. Which is why you see endless streams of Nurse and Blight at high MMRs.

Exactly its use for when gen go fast thats not gen rush BnP and PTS make gens move so fast its almost impossible to build any pressure as a killer. I wouldn't even call it true gen rush either as I was there at the hight of SC and old BnP meta. 2 minutes 5 gens gg.

I just find camping boring i can't stand there and wait I can't do it in Fps either

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2665116#Comment_2665116

Genrushing isn't simply a strategy. Survivors are supposed to do gens before they can be killed.

'Genrushing' refers to bringing stuff like multiple PTS and BNP with fancy toolboxes and slamming out gens so fast that the killer cannot realistically do anything. 'Rush' infers a gimmicky, cheesy play that requires substantially less effort to execute than it does to counter, as per 'rushing' in RTS games.

'Tunneling' is just killers playing the game properly. If you wanted to make it so survivors were immune to being hooked unless you hook the other 3 survivors or something before, or whatever you are suggesting, you'd have to rebalance the game from the ground up and approximately triple killer power.

Omg someone that understands the actual meaning of gen rush.

You are trying REALLY REALLY hard to ignore the straight up objective effects of these items.

    Medikit: removes health state.

Flashlight: forces a caught Survivor to be dropped with then gets a head start to get away.

    These are objective facts.

Ok so its pointless to talk to you. Have a good day

  • @WesCravenFan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2663871#Comment_2663871

It doesn't matter if it takes another person. We are talking about the power of the ITEM, not some scenario you are creating to try to make it sound harder or less efficient.

And no, it takes more than 5 seconds to hit someone after a flashlight blind unless they literally are standing there AFK. On some maps, that is just one vault and off they go for a length of time FAR longer than 5 seconds.

It does matter if it takes another person because that count for the items efficiency and item that takes 2 people to use is far less effective then an item that only takes one. You want to try and look at the item completely out of context which is pointless.

No I can literally hear where they are going and can make a move to put myself in a position to still make a play.

You know how often I 4k a 4 man flashlight team? More than I lose because they are so busy trying to get saves that gens aren't getting done. On top of that you got lightborn if there that much of a problem for you but I don't waste the slot for it because ill just look at a wall or bait the pick up.

  • @WesCravenFan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2663848#Comment_2663848

Medkits do not undo an entire chase. They undo one health state. That is not even close to an entire chase.

A flashlight can undo the chase, the down, AND the hook. In THREE seconds. No medkit in the game can boast that kind of power.

And then you walk up and smack them again boom wow 5 extra seconds. A med kit rest the chase and you get a second speed boost after hit which waste 20 seconds alone no flashlight has the potential to do that. You can also do it multiple times during the match and there's insta heal. And here's the big thing a medkit takes one person to use a flashlight takes 2 one on the shoulder and one to try and save.

With Map Offerings, you at least get to play a game. It might not be the most enjoyable one, but you get to play it. And, even if I dont want to promote it here at all, you can still DC without a penalty if the Survivors bring a Map Offering. If you go against a facecamping Bubba the only thing you can do is to wait out 2 minutes to give your team time to do some Gens (at least this is the most optimal way to do it...).

When it comes to camping because the Killer needs a Survivor out of the game and/or the whole team is running around the Hook (aka not doing Gens, so the Killer is applying pressure to 4 Survivors at once), this something different from "Ok, I hook this guy and facecamp him right from the start".

When it comes to your Percentages, those are a little bit flawed. First of all, a nitpick - the Killer does not have to go for 12 Hooks, they have to get 4 Kills. You can also slug the whole team and onehook them. Not really fun, not really skillful, but go for it.

But, the bigger thing, not every Gen is really 20% of the effort. It is 20% of the Objective, but not of the effort the Survivors have to do. The first Gens are so easy to do, but it can also happen that 3 Gens done fast can result in the Survivors losing the game with the remaining 2 Gens to go, because each Gen gets harder to complete, because the Killer becomes stronger during the usual flow of a game.

Yeah I rather not play some of those level especially since the survivors are most likely running perk that are super strong on that level. Running around in a circle getting hit by pallets for 4 minutes is just as fun as been facecamped.

For the 12 hooks im assuming we are playing the game as intended and if you 4 man slug you get the same hate as facecamping.

9/10 if the survivors are in a 3 gen thats on them for just blowing through gens as fast as possible without considering where the other gens are. You can easily end up with 2 gens on one side and 2 on the other and you can't defend that outside a few killers.

I mean, I got to rank three-ish in the time between the 5th anniversary and MMR being implemented, and I currently have one or two TTV's in a standard lobby.

I know that doesn't really denote skill, but I feel proficient enough to have fun, and my MMR's in a good place.

The most important part of that was your having fun. Rank is more time spent playing that month. Its more of seen the same bs over and over and it starts to wear you out.

  • Med kits and it doesn't take another person off a gen to do. And it actually take skill to pull of a flashlight save and it takes no skill to heal yourself with a medkit. Toolboxes can end the match so fast that those down where the flashlight save would of happend don't have a chance to happen.

  • @Tormentaius said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/296811/flashlights-are-broken-but-not-in-the-way-you-think

It's not just angles, it's also their effect, and the fact that you can exploit killer being locked in animation.

Heck I've even had games where I got flashlight stunned where the beam went through high bushes and and between trees.

..and the fact that survivors can actually pull of a stun right after a stun, is just broken.

Look up? The only way to get a flashlight save is if the killer is animation locked plus it has to be timed right. Do you want to go back to insist blinds because that was terrible and actually broken

The flashlight is the most powerful item in the game and I am tired of pretending it's not.

Not even close they are just above keys. Unless the survivor goes down right next to another survivor with a flashlight on a gen then they are wasting time not doing gens which more than makes up for that blind and downing them again 5 seconds later and then putting them self in a position to take damage or go down.

I'm not saying I get facecamped every game. I do see it a lot, though. Usually happens to my teammates. I'm ok at looping and hiding.

Do gens get out he loses 10 mmr and you get 20 for escape you'll just keep making them drop while you go up. If the have noed and 2k they break even.

Its probably because these only 2 gens left at that point and the killer has to find a way to gain control and removing a player is the only way for that to happen.

  • @IronKnight55 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2663723#Comment_2663723

At least you get to play the game as killer. This isn't the case for the person that gets facecamped until they die.

But the killer has to finish that match out when you can just q up for another game and probably be in a game before said killer finish there's

And if your going to tell me this happens every game then you need to work on your chase game because I'm so unlucky and always run into the killer first and almost never get face camped out.

This is true. I have no way to know what the killer is thinking, but I just find it very scummy to facecamp someone at the very beginning of the game. It's not a good feeling as survivor to load into a game, then be unable to play because of this. I really hope the devs come up with a good solution to fix the problem.

Same could be said about certain map offerings. I dont want to load into Haddonfield or badhamen right away before I've loaded into the game its already going to be a rough game. Do I consider map offerings scummy no but to I think it suck yup. Or how about first chase equals 3 gens you think that's fun for the killer? Thats 60% of the survivor objective when the killer has only done about 8% of there's.

If there's only 2 gens left in the trial and 4 survivors someone is leaving the game if thats the first 2 minutes of the game thats on the survivors for setting the pace of the game and I now have to match that pace.

  • @GoshJosh said:

Do you want boons to be just as difficult to find and snuff? Legitimate question.

Yes because that's more time my hex would get value and more time survivors have to spend finding them. At this point most killers only snuff them if they are right next to them after a hook or down.

Yeah, res manipulation is unfortunately going to be very difficult to fix or even detect because it's done via a driver-level program usually and doesn't require any unusual apps.

The problem isn't the overt hackers. Those guys will almost certainly get banned, and at least you'll know to lobby dodge them if you see them again.

The problem are the sneaky Sams that do it cleverly enough for nobody else to realize.

Killers...yeah. I will say though that I get accused of hacking several times a week because I'm running either the Demo addon that lets you see auras, Discordance or Lethal Pursuer.

Thats what I ment by speed hack it wasn't completely blatant but even with BL I wasn't gaining any ground and even hit BL2 for the first time in like 6 months since coming back.

I'll check perks and addons after and more than a few times they didn't have any aura reading. As a killer main I know sometimes you get lucky but these guys were to lucky to offer.

I'm also a console player and I don't believe I'm top mmr for sure not on survivor but I do run into it sometimes.

  • @Labrac said:

If anything Dead Hard is unhealthy on teaching looping to survivors. I used to run Dead Hard when I had like 300 hours in the game and I thought I was good at looping. When I finally took it off was when I started improving.

You don't need to learn things like chaining tiles or lunging distances when you have a button that teleports you to the nearest pallet or window. Also things like learning how to dodge hatchets and Blight rushes. It's incredibly funny when those "loopers" start camping pallets after they spend their Dab Harder.

This is me I probably have 200 hrs survivor and I almost always run DH but when I play a survivor that don't have it I find myself been I could of made it with DH. I do like running without it though I actually feel vulnerable in chase and feel like I need to be better or I'm going to go down fast.

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/296804/are-hackers-becoming-more-common-now

    I don't...think so.

My guess is that due to MMR, forum regulars/popular streams (who are disproportionally veterans of the game) encounter them a lot more regularly, leading everyone else to be more observant of them in their games.

That said, BHVR is going to have to do something about this. Even at my crappy MMR, I see the odd 'that guy is either a god level player or has wallhacks' match.

I feel like I run survivor that stretch res more then hackers because when playing survivor im like how did they seem to know exactly where I was on this loop. I have ran into a couple of speed hackers that were just a little to fast and quite a few killers that know exactly where I am across the map and no bbq.

I agree that killer isn't remotely as hard as people on the forums would have you believe, but there are some problems in the meta right now that trip up the average player.

Given how prevalent split gen pressure and early W is, killers have to be really smart and efficient with chases and patrols. Killers have never had to do that with any regularity in the game's history, and they're obviously struggling with the game sense/macro management aspect. Luckily I have comp experience, so these are just comp games with worse survivors. Not a big deal.

It'll take a few months for players to understand how to handle these games. You still don't need 4 slowdowns and ultra rare add ons. But you do need to know what chases are worth committing to, what survivors should be prioritized, what areas of the map to not even bother with, etc.

So you have to be a comp level killer to play this game at what a normal survivor plays as? No disrespect but if your so good you play comp then your opinion on the average player doesn't mean much.
