  • I rotate killers. I have a couple that I might consider my "mains" based on how much time and bloodpoints I've invested in them (Wraith and Ghostface), but I play most all of them. Though there are some I outright avoid for one reason or another, such as Myers (because his stalk is broken since dedicated servers have been a thing) and Hag (for similar dedicated server related reasons). I'm also not a Nurse guy.

I’ve mostly agreed with this for a long time. Except I don’t think gen speeds are the problem.

It’s the facility and possibility for survivors to extend chases out for (figuratively) forever that’s the problems. Experienced survivors that have map tiles memorised can be (for all intents and purposes) untouchable. And when up against 4 players that can ALL do this it makes for an impossible game, because it becomes both pointless to either commit to a chase or abandon time wasting chases due to the fact the same problems will be encountered when finding a different survivor.

This. Map balance is the main issue. This is why Hawkins, Lery's and The Game are so popular among killers. While there are safe tiles in these maps (especially the game), they can't abuse them for nearly infinite amounts of times, and the rest of the tiles can be mind gamed so it's all down to skill between the survivor and killer.

Survivors don't like these maps because there's no magic safe haven for them.

Killers dont have to camp or tunnel or have to slug to have a chance. I play killer very often and i never slug or tunnel or camp and still get almost everytime 3-4 kills with 3 hook everyone. And yes i play on red ranks.

Even if the game is survivor sided it still doesnt mean you cant win if you play fair. I even can get 4 kills in a full SWF team in the redranks sometimes.

Good for you man. Doesn't nullify what I said. Killers don't have the time to play nice these days with how fast games go.

Unless you're using a high mobility killer like Freddy, Billy, Nurse or Spirit, I highly doubt you're getting 3-4 kills every game with 3 hooks each every game at red ranks.

love it when trash players think they are good, killers are designed to catch up, when you play spirit which is basically one of the fastest killers in the game and have no map pressure then maybe you should learn how to play instead of being a sweatlord

I love how they brag about slugging as if it was hard to catch up with survivors

if you are that good buddy, why didnt you just hook them and get them sacrificed? ah let me guess, cause you dont know how to play

good on you, one day you will grow up kid (:

Imagine calling someone trash for using a strategy that perks exist to completely counter.

I love it when trash players make excuses for their own screw ups.

  • Indeed. I don't give hatch. I used to, but eh. I prefer just getting the 4k if I earn the 4k.

Cue the clicky clicky flashlight using survivors saying slugging for the 4k is "boring". Deal with it.

Actually, some survivors have the same mindset as everyone else. Toxic people are toxic. Not one side of player.

Not sure how that is relevant (because somehow you consider it a counter?). My post wasn't a question on the matter of toxicity. It was a lamentation on the matter of the tools one uses to win a game. I never called anyone toxic; and nothing I said was untrue.

  • @gatsby said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1129752#Comment_1129752

I literally say in the post I run Kindred. And I do every single match.

That's how I'm aware of the problem.

Yeah. You also say you won't run a totem detection perk because "it's not meta and you can't win without meta perks". Imagine trusting a person with that flawed mentality.

  • @neekocheeko said:

It's not like the devs can do anything about it. Maybe it's time to remove hook wiggling and mashing to struggle?

Nobody likes mashing a button, just to stop mashing for 0.001 seconds and dying by accident anyways.

They can't do that. You can not force people to play your game. DC penalties are one thing, but if you want out and do it within the confines of the game mechanics, they can NOT take that away from you. You make the game feel like its holding you hostage, people will leave.

  • Imagine thinking you should handicap yourself just to serve the delicate sensibilities of everyone else who plays the game.

Word to the wise: Survivors don't have the same mentality. They're still going hump god windows, teabag at pallets, and pretend like running in a circle around a pallet and dead harding for distance is a "skill" and talk ######### to you for it if they lose. Then if they lose to NOED, they'll complain that totems are too annoying to destroy because they were too busy genrushing. They use every tool they have at their disposal, and you should to.

If you handicap yourself to suit their BS book of rules created for killers by survivors, you're just adding to their endless arsenal of second chances and ammunition. Don't hinder yourself to suit them. The thing about survivors is, if you give them an inch, they will take a mile. Killers complain how they lose on a constant basis, and this is why. Go into game, if you want to win, play to win. Kick the living ######### out of them. You paid for this game as much as they did.

  • Everyone, you should all keep in mind, this thread was made by the same guy who said, verbatim:

"NOED is overpowered" because "The perks to help survivors find dull totems aren't meta perks. If you don't use meta perks you don't win."

It's painfully obvious they are new to the game and don't have a handle on..well..any actual game knowledge yet.

I'd say "run kindred", but it's not meta. So he won't.

Hmmm....honestly I believe it can. If not then I'm misunderstood but you get my point!

Thanks for helping! Tho, I won't change the title because it would be confusing :3

Hope to see you in the fog!

It's more of a code of honor than it is a code of ethics. Honor has that looseness that allows personal rules to inhibit it. Ethics do not.

  • Survivors.

Even when I play survivor, I barely see any salty killers. It's almost always "GG" or nothing at all. In contrast, I'd say 80% of the time, survivors have something negative to say. It usually had to do with tunneling and camping; regardless of if that actually happened.

It really is like the meme. "Killer: Exists. Survivors: STOP CAMPING!".

  • I know the matchmaking is a giant horses ass, but at the same time, think of it as a learning experience. If you start to pick up on what these survivors do, you will also pick up on counters to these habits. Most survivors play exactly the same. The outliers are the ones who just hold W, and juke you without even knowing it.

That's even if these red rank survivors are even good; and nobody here can sit here with a straight face and say that for survivor, red rank means skill in any way; because it doesn't. Rank is a participation trophy for survivors. You can literally rank up as survivor and be in a coma at the same time.

I said I'm testing the people's limits of their moral codes. Unlike you, perhaps, who hasn't made self-made rules, some people do. I wanna test if they will not break their rules for the sake of challenges:3

Ethics, indeed is a strange work. But, honestly, I think it is fitting here xd

Ethics doesn't apply to self-made rules.

I agree. Still playing a lot of killer, but the fact that I have to play so damn sweaty to get any headway is nonsense. When you can literally play survivor and be half asleep. I feel like it should be the other way around, if anything. On the plus side, playing sweaty has allowed me to remind survivors - killers didn't need ruin to win. We needed it to play nice. Now we don't play nice; and if I see survivors with keys or toolboxes, I slug them and let them all bleed out.

I have sent many groups in a row back to the lobby because they refuse to ready up with 16 seconds left to go. Even when i spam the ready up to let them know i want them to ready up. At 16 seconds they got back to waiting another 15 min. I will not be switched upon in the last second. So many try it still. I am not an idiot. I could care less about their waits. That is not my concern. They should try killer if they are sick of waiting.

Thanks for asking! Because in this game we have some made up rules and such. We feel bad if a survivor doesn't escape. We feel bad when we have to tunnel, slug or camp. I'm testing your limits of ethics right here, the ethics of the self made rules you made in dbd!

I don't feel bad if a survivor doesn't escape. I don't see why anyone would. It's a video game. There will be other games. They aren't dead in real life. They are still alive, with a heart beat and air to breathe. I also don't feel bad for tunneling, slugging or camping if that's something I have to do in a given situation (survivor brings a key etc). There are no ethical bounds in DBD or any video game outside of the rules the developers impose on us. Everything else is just imaginary and not a question of ethical code. Ethics applies to real life, as I said. Not fictional video game worlds.

  • @CLAUDETTEINABUSH said:

    In your opinion, what is more worth? To win or to do a challenge (archives or dailies). Let me create two cenarios for you;

Archive challenge: escape 4 times. You have it 3/4 complete. You and your teammate managed to finish the last gen, but they get hooked. What do you do? Do you sacrifice them for the challenge? Or do you risk your archive challenge just to save them?

Second case: You have a "kill all survivors by any means" challenge. You can either choose to tryhard with a red Mori or play normally and chill without it. Will you do it? Why? Because of the self made rules you made?

I wanna hear from you guys, do you value the challenges more? Let me know down below.

I fail to see how your play style in a video game has anything to do with ethics, or why it is being questioned whether or not what you choose to do in a video game is "ethical". It's a video game. Codes of ethics apply to real life. Not fictional video game worlds. Unless you happen to break a rule imposed by the developers, in which it becomes a real life thing, then that's another story.

  • I mean, fundamentally, Fortnite should be worse than DBD for crossplay. Being that it's a shooter. So you're not making any real logical argument here.

On the survivor side of DBD, you gain no advantage whatsoever using a mouse and a keyboard vs a controller. Even 360ing is easier on a controller. On the killer side, yeah, killer isn't as easy on a controller, but that wouldn't put the killers from console at a disadvantage because of the aforementioned survivor mouse/keyboard vs controller bit.

The only real thing console people would notice would probably be on the survivor side. 360ing won't work as well for them anymore, and they'll realize Nurse and Huntress aren't low tier killers (like they are on console).

It's less the facecamp, more the being slugged the whole game. It's nice that they can't even DC as well.

    I don't see the issue.

Survivors don't being slugged all game, killers don't like all the gens being done in 5 minutes, so they slug. Usually a sign of a balance problem if that's how killers have to play to have a chance.

  • I agree with this. I'd be less inclined to get stressed out if I knew I was being compensated for being at an unfair disadvantage.

    First....awesome job....devotion 17... I mean Damn!

As a survivor I don't mind noed anymore. I just cleanse it and go save my friends.

But as killer it's a perk for noobbs imo. Play it if you want.. tunnel if u want...camp till high tides...idk...but it's not the highest caliber of killer that can exist in this game.

I'm in the same boat. I never see it as survivor because totems are so insanely easy to cleanse. I don't use it as killer because there are *better perks to use*, but NOED definitely has it's place, and using it doesn't make a killer bad or a noob.

  • @Clevite said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1127269#Comment_1127269

Haha....7 devotion as killer my friend.

Rank 1 ps4...so no. But I appreciate your defense of killers.

I spy a newer killer that is struggling in red ranks?

Oh, it's a dick measuring contest now.

Devotion 17. So...I mean, there's that. Not that it makes my opinion any more valid.

Yes, let's call killers insecure or noobs for using NOED, a perk that can be prevented by survivors from ever existing. *Makes perfect sense*.

NOED doesn't reward bad plays any more than it punishes survivors for ignoring totems.

    That being said:

D-Strike. It needs to be conditional to be made anti-tunnel only.

and as far as killer perks...I mean...if I have to choose a killer perk, probably Haunted Grounds...because my idiot team mates always destroy it as the killer is on his way to all of us. Like clockwork.

  • @just_a_noob said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1127229#Comment_1127229

i get what you are saying, but noed is an insta down so even if survivors cleansed all totems then they still have their insta down. to put a perk on that gives you an inst down when you can already insta down...thats what i just don't get.

having a noed challenge explains a little bit i guess.

Like the person above me said - instadown powers have requirements. For example, in Billy's case, it's very situational and easy to dodge unless you're out in the open and right in front of them. if someone is looking to do a challenge, they usually want to get it done and over with. So they may bring noed.

  • There's challenges for both NOED as well as EGC. NOED can act as extra insurance for this (because survivors are too lazy to cleanse totems) on any killer because screw those challenges.

  • @whammigobambam said:

Matches with Mori, key or ultra rares combined with camping and tunnelling making success near impossible. It's a 50/50 chance so half my time in dbd pure toxic garbage.

This is my biggest issue. People like this on the survivor side who complain endlessly about their life being so hard, when they have the most easy and chill role in the game. Combine that with the fact that THESE are the people BHVR listens to. Imagine being a survivor and thinking it's even remotely impossible.

You can grab an injured survivor during a chase through a window or off a pallet so yeah no.

@NMCKE you can't do the hook another person thing either. Look how many farmers and dumb plays teammates make.

I'm hooked the survivor comes in hot with the killer trailing and already injured unhooks me without BT and both of us get downed. The killer hooks the farmer now im completely screwed.

    "Yeah no"?

Sounds like someone relies on DS. It should deactivate if you step into a trap, or attempt to perform an unhook.

  • @NMCKE said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/133694/decisive-should-be-an-exhaustion-perk

The main problem with DS is that it can be used outside of tunneling/camping.

I believe more conditions to focus DS more towards what it's supposed to do and make it more reliable would make it balanced.

For example: 60 second timer that deactivates when the killer hooks a survivor.

    Timer will pause while downed.

I would also add that DS should deactivate if you are grabbed. So no more of this "I have the superman perk now I can go unhook this person!"

  • Word of advice: Play dirty. You know all those honorable rules most killers follow to make it fun for survivors? You know the book containing those rules? Burn the book.

    REALLY?! LOLOLOL

Bro, if killers didn't care about survivors fun, you'd see mori's every game. As it stands, killers have hundreds of mori's stock piled and don't use them. A lot of them go out of their way to play fair. Just for survivors, like yourself, to spit in their face and expect them to kiss your ass. Nah dude, you have no idea what you're on about. Killers are by FAR the most empathetic ones. Even I know that as a survivor main.

  • Nvidia Freestyle/Reshade.

    It's the Blendette killer.

  • I did this the same way I do all the challenges that are poorly designed. I cheesed the ######### out of it.

Equip immersive perks (Urban Evasion, Iron Will, Quick and Quiet), as well as Left Behind so I can see the hatch. Waited (because rank reset had just happened so I was green ranks) for my whole team to die, and waited for the killer to close the hatch, then I went and took the hatch. I say that because if you take a key and are seen running around with it, you're very likely to get tunneled. So i played like a #########.

Same thing i did with the No Mither challenge.

I get it. Killer can be frustrating, and even when you are better at it, you'll end up still getting smashed upon at times (though, significantly less), but that happens to even the best killer mains. That all being said, even when you do get better, more times than not, you're going to have to sweat to get the job done, which is the main underlying issue. Killer isn't fun for everyone, because most people don't play a video game (especially one like this, which for all intents and purposes is basically a party game) to play super sweaty mcsweatlord.

If you take the time to get better, you'll lose less. You'll never stop losing no matter what, because sometimes a team is just so well coordinated it's crazy (though, seal team 6 coordinated teams aren't that common); but when you start to win against better and better teams, it is EXTREMELY rewarding; and it's a feeling of rewarding and accomplishment that playing survivor (don't @ me, cause I'm right) will never get you. Simply because survivor doesn't take the sheer amount of strategy and good plays that killer does.

If I was in charge of balance I’d obliterate sprint burst as well. Its just a free time wasting perk against the killer. Takes no skill and all the survivors that use it think they’re MLG. Used by crutch gamers.

I think Dead Hard gets more discussion though because (at least on PC) you can expect at least 3 survivors to run it per game at red ranks. Last one will probably be using sprint burst.

I still fail to understand how you can call all these other perks "crutchy" and "no skill"...and still defend DS, and call it balanced. That boggles me. If it were anti-tunnel, and only anti tunnel, I would agree...but it's so much more than that.
