  • Yes and no. Different rarities of perks (yellow, green, purple) do have different chances of appearing at certain bloodweb levels, according to the official wiki. I would assume this means that high rarity perks have a higher chance of appearing at higher levels.

It also seems to a lot of people like the chances of finding a perk at tier 2 or 3 increase once you've bought the perk at tier 1, but there's no hard evidence that I could find to support that.

As for the idea that "bad" perks appear more often, with the exception of how this might overlap with the rarity rule described above (perhaps you got that impression because the "bad" perks are yellow or green rarity), I would say that's probably just cognitive bias talking.

  • The [BAD WORD] thing is just a lighthearted way of saying [CENSORED] or whatever "grown-up" phrase you would prefer. No one is talking down to you, and if you take offense at it that's on you, not the mods.

  • Yep! Since it says "any survivors", that includes yourself.

  • @UrbanCommando Yeah, a lot of people hate going against Trapper, especially now with the Tome ongoing - there have been so many Trappers for the last month and a half and everyone is just sick of it. As for the other killers you play, I guess Wraith and Legion aren't that fun but I wouldn't expect a lot of DCs against them, and I don't know many people who hate going against Pig. It's not like you're playing Spirit or something, so seems a bit odd that everyone keeps disconnecting. Unfortunately you can't really avoid Trapper either if you need him for your challenges.

Does this happen whenever you play killer, regardless of who you're playing? And what platform are you playing on?

  • Mettle of Man specifically says that "Once activated, the next occasion that would put you into the Dying State from the Injured State is ignored."

So from the perk description, it seems like it does not work on one-hit downs, which means it won't counter NOED if you're already healthy. If you're injured, however, and a killer hits you with NOED active, the hit will be ignored.

  • Not that this makes it in any way your fault, for the record - DCing is still childish and despicable, no matter who the killer is - but what killer were you playing?

  • @DBDplayersRsaltyAFha said:

I thought it helped towards survival points ? Am I wrong lol

No, it doesn't do anything like that. It's just a signal people use for their teammates, or occasionally just something they do because they're hooked and they're bored and they have nothing better to do.

  • I can confirm that this challenge has only two requirements: have Unnerving Presence equipped, and don't let a gate get opened. That's it. You can 4k before any gens are done, you can kill them when the gates are both 99ed, I'm pretty sure everyone could escape through the hatch and it would still could for the challenge. As long as no gates get opened, that's the only thing that matters.

  • I don't like getting camped or tunneled any more than the next person, but just because it's not fun for the other side doesn't make it any less of a legitimate strategy.

It's because flailing to signal urgency is more intuitive, since you are spamming the ATTEMPT TO ESCAPE button.

it's less useful of a signal tho. I suggest clarifying in the pregame chat

Fair point, that's most likely how the change came about. It seems like a lot of people are still using it to mean the opposite, though, so you're right, the best way is probably to clarify with your teammates in advance.

  • See, people used to use flailing arms to mean "the killer is camping me, don't bother", but now most tend to use it to mean "please come and get me as fast as possible". I'm not sure where the shift came in, and maybe it varies by rank and region which makes it even more confusing.

The most reliable way to tell one way or the other is honestly just to run Kindred at this point.

  • You're totally right. I get so tired of seeing people accused of being a "fake" killer or survivor (or being accused of such myself) because they dare to support an idea that isn't directly beneficial to their "party". Some people are just trying to look at things from a balanced point of view.

Unfortunately it's probably a bit much to hope for on the internet that everyone will be able to discuss controversial things politely and rationally, but it's always nice when it does happen.

Only one tiny prob, I don't have BW nor Freddy, so I'm screwed

I was about to say, you don't have to use BW, it just makes it a lot easier. With NOED and a bit of luck, you should still be able to get it done. The main point was that unfortunately you have to wait until after the EGC starts to do the hooking. If you can get your first victim on the ground before the last generator pops, that might help, because then the others won't know in advance that you have NOED.

Having been in the exact same situation as OP, I just thought it might be helpful to share my experience to confirm that it's not a bug, rather than leave it up to speculation.

Yeah, to be more specific, what I did in the past few matches I remember is "put a survivor in last hook, open the gates before his hook transforms into a skull at the bottom, hooks another dude who dies for being the last alive"

I watched my brother try to do the challenge that way as well the other day, and I can confirm that it doesn't work if you hook them before the gates open, even if they don't actually die until afterwards.

Try using Blood Warden and wait for the gates to open (or open them yourself if you're near one) and then hook the first guy. With NOED and BW combined, you should be able to get the second fairly easily, and then the challenge should work properly.

With all due respect, you should review the PPC tense.

The elapsed time in the sentence must be from the past until now, not in the future.

" I've been playing dbd for 10 years" means that I began 10 years ago and still playing.

"I played DBD for 10 years" means that I played for 10 years but not playing anymore.

Anyway, looking at the OP's profile, they only posted killer sided comments before today, so I wonder : if this thread is a trick, what is the aim of it ? It looks like a sincerely good advice for survivors...

Yes, that is exactly what I was saying. Apologies if the way I worded it was confusing.

I would just take the post at face value. I make a lot of comments that may seem survivor- or killer-sided just because that's the opinion I happen to hold on the given topic. It would make sense that most of OP's comments up to this point have been killer-biased since that's where most of their ingame hours have been, but it's not really relevant because as they stated, they've been playing survivor recently and are simply sharing an experience they had ingame. Regardless of which "side" they're on, they're making a valid point.

  • According to the official wiki, the only time the Oni changes speed is when he slows down while collecting orbs or speeds up while using Demon Dash.

So it's probably your imagination - perhaps he seems faster because of the animation changes, or simply because of the contrast between the slower absorption speed and the normal speed you return to after you've finished all your absorbing.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/914040#Comment_914040

    Not really.

Or I can say I've been playing dbd for 10 years as I'm in the process ?

Not that it really matters anyway, or means that OP is sincere or not.

Yes, grammatically speaking, saying that you have been playing DBD for 10 years implies that you plan to continue playing it and haven't yet finished all the playing you plan to do. Otherwise you would simply say "I played DBD for 10 years".

But you're right, the OP's observation is equally valid regardless of whether they have played 1000 survivor hours yet or not.

  • Considering the amount of threads and comments about how problematic they are, it's quite interesting what a large proportion of people seem to be totally fine with both.

  • I'm actually very nice and almost always let people go but this was just too funny not to pick.

  • @S_Panda said:

Didn't someone say they rush new players into a match regardless of ranks? May have heard that wrong.

Yeah, there is no rank cap for matchmaking at ranks 17-20 because there aren't enough people around that rank for them to reliably get well-matched games.

  • While it's true that NOED isn't exclusively a perk for bad players, it's also true that a lot of the time it's a waste of a perk slot on a good killer, unless that killer is specifically going for an endgame build - simply because a good killer rarely even makes it to the endgame.

  • @tortrader said:

"Stop freaking crying and complaining about everything, the fact is the game is about 70% in the survivors favor"

I thought the latest data showed a 65% kill+DC rate in killer favor?

DCs weren't even counted in that data, so it's purely based on killrate.

However, the devs have warned us that there are a lot of factors that influence killrate which means we shouldn't draw any balance-related conclusions from it.

    >I did main killer for the first 1000 hours

    >have been maining survivors for the next 1000

    1000 hours + 1000 hours = 2000 hours

    >currently at 1143 hours at the game

They never said that they had over 2000 hours. They said they mained killer for the first 1000, and have been maining survivor ("have been maining" meaning they are still in the process) for the next 1000, of which they have completed 143 so far.

  • Having not played as Oni since the PTB (since I don't own him) I can't confirm or deny that personally. According to further comments Janick made in that thread, your problem might be that you're trying to use the keys to help you turn instead of just using the mouse.

If you think it's still a problem, I would advise you to politely say so to Janick and ask him to comment further instead of jumping to the conclusion that he's trying to deceive you.

Not true. I would believe it if there was proof, but the whole thing is sketchy too me. It simply doesn't make sense too nerf an unintended mechanic the devs were going too remove anyway, why not simply remove it from the start?

As I said, my guess would be that they thought they were removing it. But only a developer would be able to tell you for sure.

  • Well, imagine how angry people would have been if they'd delayed it. Remember when they delayed the fix to the Level 3 challenges because they wanted to make sure they didn't accidentally break anything, and the forums were in uproar the entire weekend?

  • @BunnyTheHutt said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/913499#Comment_913499

I don't believe it. No development studio nerfs a "bug" unless it's suppose too be a mechanic. The fact they made it worse for live versions from the PTB version tells me it isn't a bug.

So you said when you replied to my comment in a different thread. I already responded there.

  • @Perelie said:

Do you "Trusted" posters at least get paid to shill for BHVR?

Nope. In fact, you'll notice that we frequently (and publicly) disagree with decisions made by the developers, which we are free to do because we're not affiliated with them in any way.

Although of course, if you already think that in spite of both Trusted members and the devs themselves stating otherwise on numerous occasions in the past, I'm not sure how my word is going to make much of a difference.

  • @BunnyTheHutt said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/913406#Comment_913406

If they intended too remove it, then why did they nerf it from PTB too launch? Simply put it was deception because you don't nerf a bug, it doesn't make sense. If you can change a bug then they simply should of removed it then and there.

Even if it was a bug, with how happy everyone was too it they should of just left it be and refined it, not remove it almost entirely.

Not everyone was happy with it, and when it comes to balance that's not how you make decisions anyway. They put a lot of work into designing the Oni and tried to make him as balanced as possible. An unintended extra ability is going to throw all that off, and that's why they removed it.

And if I had to guess, I'd say that they fixed what they thought was the problem after the PTB, but then people found a way to keep "flicking" regardless, so they had to revisit it again. That seems like the most likely explanation to me, but I'm not a developer so I can't say for sure. And since you seem determined to believe that they're trying to pull the wool over our eyes, you probably wouldn't believe me even if I were.

Didn't they at the last minute decide not to make certain cosmetics free for everyone because one crazy chick harrased and abused Not_Queen on Twitter?

Nope. They did it because one of if not the main reason for them releasing those cosmetics in the first place (which again, was stated in the initial announcement) was because of a technical issue with the cosmetics disappearing from people's accounts and the devs not having a reliable way to stop that from happening. The best solution they could come up with was to simply grant the cosmetics to everyone.

However, they later found a way to store the cosmetics securely so that that didn't happen anymore, so it was no longer necessary to give the event cosmetics out for that reason. The fact that they didn't want to devalue the effort people put into earning those cosmetics also played a part, but that had nothing to do with one random person kicking up a stink about it.

  • I would say that if you're against survivors who are better than you, regardless of who you're playing, Tier III is probably better. This is because good survivors can prolong a chase, so firstly you might need an extra 20 seconds of exposed to get the hit on them, and secondly the extra 20 seconds on the cooldown is less likely to be detrimental because you probably won't get another hook in that time anyway. However, this is more likely to be the case with killers like Pig, Legion or Huntress, and less likely to be the chase with unloopable killers like Nurse or Spirit.

If you're a good killer who can get a lot of hooks fast, though, Tier I might serve your playstyle better. This would likely be most beneficial on high-mobility killers who excel on getting back to the hook quickly from far away, such as Spirit, Nurse, Hillbilly, Hag or Freddy.

If I were you, I would try it at Tier I first on whichever killers you want to play as and see for yourself whether it suits you. If you consistently find that the timer runs out before you manage to capitalise on it, then you might benefit more from a higher tier of the perk. If you can consistently down the rescuer before the timer runs out, though, stick with Tier I.

I completely understand where your coming from. The locked chest idea was an addition to the concept I thought of for more content. I edited that part out and now have the main concept I want to present to people.

I like it as an idea, the only problem I have with it is that keys are already more common than they should be. Perhaps something like this would be a good addition if they made it so that dull/skeleton keys couldn't be found in chests, and/or made them much rarer on the bloodweb. In fact, maybe they could remove them altogether and just have broken keys which you need to forge into working ones. As much as I love my keys, I wouldn't be too opposed to that happening. I'd much rather they were made harder to acquire than nerfed overall.

I'm not sure whether a blacksmith is particularly lore-friendly for DBD, but maybe people could forge them through the Rift somehow, like get the Observer to turn the broken fragments into keys since we know he can manifest items from the fog.

Yes, I moved to east Asia, but that's good to hear they're working on that.

That sucks there's no blood warden currently

Yeah, but hopefully it'll be there Soon(TM).

At least there's BBQ - I don't know if you saw the edit, but I revised my answer above to reflect the fact that Bubba is actually already available on the Switch, and we're just waiting on Freddy now.

  • Regarding queue times, it depends on which country you moved to. Switch generally has a much smaller playerbase than the other platforms, especially PC, but if you live in a well-populated area like the United States or East Asia or possibly Europe, you should still get decent queue times as long as you're not playing at three in the morning.

There is an exclusive Trapper outfit for Switch players.

As for Nightmare and Bubba, I believe the Nightmare is not yet available on Switch, but hopefully that will change in the near future as my understanding is the devs are currently in negotiations with the license owners. There is certainly no specific agreement preventing him from being added to the Switch version, since if there were his perks would likely be part of the default perk pool the way that Bill's were on consoles originally. Bubba, on the other hand, is already available in the in-game Store, with the official DLC soon to be made available on the Nintendo Store.

  • They weren't waiting for people to buy The Oni before they removed the flick. They have said from the start of his PTB, publicly and on multiple occasions, that the flick was unintended and would be removed at some point. Everyone who bought him had access to that information in advance.

It's true, why do you think killers keep getting nerfed every few days for no reason? They're not overperforming, it's that you get people like OP complaining and the devs rush as fast as they can to make sure survivor mains are happy no matter what.

I am 100% sure that the devs do not listen to anyone who hurls abuse at them or makes one-sentence complaints like "please nerf X, thank you".

Can’t say Speshul was wrong though. BHVR called it an ‘issue’ and “fixed” it when they made it possible to stun/blind the Killer at any point during the pickup animation so they drop the Survivor. Said the same just so they could give the Nurse a triple-fatigue as well when she got pallet stunned. Those have both since been reverted, and likely aren’t called ‘issues’ anymore.

BHVR could at the very least start calling things what they are while proposing changing them instead of saying ‘it was unintentional/needed fixing’.

So there are other examples of bugs which made it into the game that were never intended, and the devs said so and fixed them. I don't understand your point.

Neither of those examples you mentioned cost anyone anything. The main complaint about the Oni seems to be that people spent money on him before the changes were made, but these changes were planned and advertised as such before Oni was even available to buy. So there's still no cop-out or deception involved that I can see.

We already have microtransactions and a battlepass - the latter of which I like, for the record - but random loot, especially if we're including cosmetics which will mean they'll almost definitely have to be monetised, is taking it too far for me.

This analogy makes no sense. How is Legion getting nerfed into oblivion good for us? How is the devs ignoring the community and nerfing Oni and Nurse good for us?

There are times where the devs do ting the community doesn't want for the better, like the Spirit changes, but that doesn't apply here. They took a weak killer (Legion) and then nerfed him for a bad reason. Oni was fine, everyone loved him and they were happy with him, and they nerfed him anyway and are lying about it, saying it was a "bug."

They have consistently said since it was first pointed out with Oni's release on the PTB that the flick was unintended and that they were planning to remove it. They were never happy with him in that regard, it was always considered a bug, and they have said so since the beginning. There was no deception there.

I haven't seen many perks on the Shrine that exceed 2k... or at least not in the past month.

This could be because I wasn't paying attention or it wasn't there... but the point is a few perks can exceed the minimum depending on their rarity and use... maybe MoM is 2.7k because it's going off of the pre-nerf... or something like that.

I'm not sure why perks like those are more than other perks that're superior... but I don't set the point amounts so.

It's not a matter of perk quality - perks on the Shrine cost 2000 shards ordinarily, but they cost 2700 if they're from the most recent DLC and/or if it's the first time they've appeared on the Shrine. Mettle of Man was 2700 the last time it appeared because that was its first appearance in the Shrine.

  • The next set of Archives, including a new Rift and a new Tome with 4 new levels of challenges, should arrive about 20 days after the current Rift closes on 8 January, so I believe the next set of Archives should be due on or around 28 January next year.

And yes, it will include a new Rift pass with a whole new set of cosmetic rewards.
