I mostly made this post because I'm tried of going to look at my Tome collection and it starts playing an entry, even after I've unchecked the box billions of times.
It's strange that it does that for you, because I don't think that's actually intended functionality. I only had to uncheck the box once for it to never autoplay again. What platform are you on? It might be worth filing a bug report about it.
-
I'm on board with all of these, if only because for once a thread advertising QOL changes is talking about actual QOL changes and not straight buffs.

And who is this person that thinks cleansing totems or hitting skillchecks at gens is the best part of the game?
Well, I personally prefer stealth and completing objectives to being chased. I enjoy the sense of fulfillment it gives me to know I'm directly contributing to my team's success. I can think of at least one other person whose stream I like to watch who feels the same way.

But the thing is in this game you only have two thing to do either do gens or interact with the killer if you think that siting on gens for 4 min is more interesting why to bother buying this game just play gen simulator. On the other hand, i don't think slugging all the team is very interesting for the killer too but when i see people like you i understand why slugging all the team is need it.
Sorry, "people like me"?

Everyone on the forums complained Deathslinger was too weak when he was released, and were scandalised that the devs didn't buff him when he went live. Now that people have gotten used to him, the general consensus seems to be that he's pretty alright. When Ruin got changed, the forum went crazy, but now everyone has adapted to the change and it turns out the game isn't dead after all.
The devs don't make balancing decisions against their own better judgement because people whined on the forums. They consider what the players are saying, but ultimately (and increasingly) they make their own decisions on what gets changed and what doesn't.

Also one of the reasons listed was that they believed people were using ruin solely to secure the gatekeeper emblem
The fact that Ruin was used to secure Gatekeeper emblems was a reason given for the Gatekeeper change, not the Ruin one.

For what i see more people hate slug because they don't get any point as survivors and they may not even black pip. Even tho in both case you have the minimum interaction with the killer .
There you have it then, you just answered your own question 😊 Even though in both cases there is minimal interaction with the killer, survivors prefer genrushing to slugging because genrushing gives them bloodpoints. Not everyone considers interaction with the killer to be the best part of the game.

To begin with, the forums aren't the place to report anyone. The correct way to do so is report them after the game, and possibly also submit a Support ticket with additional evidence. For hacking, the Support ticket is required, and as part of that you need both your Steam ID64 and the offending player's.
Although this isn't explicitly stated in the Game Rules, you will need video evidence to attach to your ticket, because they won't ban someone on your word alone. As far as I know, the Support team do not have the resources to record and review your gameplay footage themselves, which is why you need to submit your own evidence. I would recommend that you download a screen recording program like OBS onto your computer, and if you're in a game where you notice someone hacking, tab out, open OBS and record the rest of the game, because chances are they'll do it again for the camera (I had to do this to report a hacker in one of my games just yesterday).
As for whether the Support team are active on the forums, I don't know for sure, but I would guess not since their job sorting through all the Support tickets probably keeps them very busy.
You can find details about the banning system and how it works in the Game Rules post: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/19450/game-rules-and-report-system
And here you can find instructions on how to record video evidence to report a player, on any platform: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/66835/recording-evidence-for-your-player-report

Not as of yet, but if Tome III weren't in the works we probably would have heard about it by now, plus they asked us all those questions in the last survey about what we want to see in future Rifts. Safe to say their intention is to continue it, at least.

I feel like crying because I can’t do anything as the nurse even in simple chases she so slow you have to use her power and I cant hit a thing after I blink then That head drop when she looks at the floor Man this is pitiful
Sometimes you just have to get lucky and get matched against potatoes. I'm pretty sure that's how I got half of my Adepts. That's why I only play with a character's unique perks until I get the achievement, because you never know when you're going to get lucky and if I got a Merciless and wasn't running the right perks I'd be kicking myself.
-
I believe it should end April 1st at 11AM ET, meaning you have just over 35 hours to finish it as of now.
-
You need at least nine hooks and a 4K for Iridescent Devout, so I wouldn't advise camping the hooks. You want people to get rescued, but you don't want them to get healed - not to mention camping loses you a lot of points in Chaser. Make good use of Overcharge as a tracking perk by kicking generators frequently.
As far as Emblems go, using your power doesn't matter at all, so only use it to the extent that it allows you to get hits and kills (i.e. don't just farm shocks for the bloodpoints). Also remember that the Emblem system doesn't care what add-ons you're running, so feel free to break out your strongest add-on combos to help you secure lots of hooks.

God I hope so, it's so vague and everyone has a different answer. Did anyone from bhvr confirm?
No, but it's supposed to close exactly 70 days after it opened, and according to both my memory and the official Twitter, the Rift opened at 11AM ET on January 22. I believe Peanits also confirmed on his stream the other day that there will be an hour countdown again.
-
I've frequently been surprised by the nice messages I've received from survivors after playing really dirty for challenges. Unfortunately I can't remember any of my conversations in detail now, but I'm going to bookmark this thread so I can come back and post the next time I have one 😊
-
What's the difference? If you genrush, you win. If you bleed out, you die bored and pointlessly (pun intended).
-
As far as the Rift countdown goes, "one day left" means more than one day, but less than two. At the point where there are less than 24 hours left, the countdown will change to show hours remaining instead. I believe the Rift is due to close in about a day and a half, at 11AM EST on the 1st.

I would recommend you post about your issue in the Technical Issues subforum. There are a couple of knowledgable mods who hang around there that may be able to help you diagnose the problem.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/technical-issues

I assume you're using mobile? The forums did indeed receive an overhaul recently, and one of the features of the new design is that mobile users can no longer see the thread creator or recent replies when viewing the discussions page. There is no way to revert the change on your end, but I believe those responsible for the forum design are aware that it's not ideal, so hopefully it will be improved upon in the near future.

Try again now, apparently they've recently fixed a SWF-related error.

but thank you for your answers!
RNG stands for Random Number Generation. It's like throwing a die. If you throw a die ten times, it's highly unlikely that you'll get a 1 every time, but it is technically possible. That's what people are saying happened here with you getting the same map many times in a row - it's just a chance anomaly.
-

-
@Kwikwitted's advice of reflecting on your gameplay and trying to figure out what you could have done better is good.
Aside from that, there are a couple of things I would do in that situation. First, put it in perspective: it's one match, and it's only ten minutes of your life so even if it sucks, at least you don't have to suffer for long. Secondly, be realistic and kind to yourself: you shouldn't feel too bad about that loss, because everyone in that game was, in theory, more skilled than you, and two of them you shouldn't even have been matched with, so a crushing defeat was to be expected in that situation, and the fact that you even got one kill under the circumstances is encouraging. Plus, three DS, two Adrenalines, two Sprint Bursts and a Dead Hard, not to mention two keys and a syringe, is a challenging setup for anyone to go against. Just like as survivor it would be a rare achievement for everyone to escape against an Ebony Mori, as killer getting a 4K against two keys would be very unusual.
So basically, think about what you could improve on, but also acknowledge to yourself that the odds were stacked against you there, so the loss was not entirely down to your lack of skill, and take comfort in that fact.

The devs will tell you the same thing everyone else is telling you. If you're receiving 15K bloodpoints from a game where you earned 10K, that is working as intended and you're just mistaken in your calculations.

If it were only positive ratings I would be on board, but the ability to rate other people up or down is fraught with issues. There's a reason that so many people find the idea of a real-life social credit system horrifying and unacceptable, and this is just a step down from that.

Defenitely League of Legends. Some people play it so much, it becomes a part of thier life. One day a guy from my team demanded my adress and wanted to kill me because i played bad on ranked, imagine writing something like this because a video game and being so immautre (i wrote) then he responded he was 19. Arguing with someone smart is hard, but with someone dumb its impossible.
It always confuses me when someone, upon being told that they're acting really immature, says something to the effect of "well I'm actually an adult". Like... you're not doing yourself any favours by saying that. At least if you were a twelve-year-old, you'd have an excuse for acting like one.

I think League of Legends still takes the cake for toxic community.
As far as one that wasn't as bad usually I would have to say during my time playing World of Warcraft at least on the PVE side I never saw major elements of toxicity. Of course a lot of this is due to the fact that it's players vs. an AI opponent but there was always the chance that someone else screwing up was going to cause a wipe and that could lead to toxicity. And raid leaders going berserk on their teams after a close wipe was always something that went viral in the community, but on the average that wasn't the case.
I think you're right about League. The first ranked game I played, my teammates were so abusive that I was in tears by the end and never went back. Nothing in DBD has ever gotten me anywhere close to that point.
-
If you want to pressure them out, open the gate yourself. If it's 99ed, it's practically already open anyway.
-
There's a lot of apparently conflicting information here, so just to clear things up: once you click the Epilogue node, you will receive the level completion charm and you will be able to move on to the next level in the Tome. If the corresponding Rift is still open, you will also receive ten Rift Fragments. Either way, you will still be able to go back and complete any unfinished challenges in that level, and collect any available rewards from doing so.
-
It makes them less easily trackable and unable to be downed in one hit, especially if she has Corrupt Purge. Being broken against Plague is an absolute death sentence in certain situations. Never, ever cleansing is actually not the smart way to play against her.

They were hit with overwhelmingly negative feedback the 1st battle pass they did. They don't care. They want you to pay money for the chance to earn items. Then, when you don't succeed, they want you to either pay more to finish it or buy the cosmetic so many months down the road when they release to everyone.
It's exploitative on purpose to extract the most money they can from you. It especially preys on those with mental health issues, like addiction and OCD. If you want a really good read, google Exploitation and Loot Boxes or Exploitation and Gatcha cell phone games. Don't quote my exact numbers here, but it's something like 6% of the entire player base of a game spends more money on in-game loot than the remaining 94% COMBINED.
It's a practice that has been made illegal and classified as gambling in certain countries.
The difference between the Rift and the examples you're talking about is that it's not randomised. The ethical problem with loot boxes and gacha games is that you don't know what it is you're paying for. They exploit the idea that if the player beats the odds, they might get something really great out of it - so the player keeps funnelling money into it, hoping to get lucky and obtain the awesome thing they actually want.
There's a big difference between that and a system like the Rift which not only allows you to preview every item so you know exactly what it is you're buying, but also allows you to wait until the last minute when you know how much you'll be getting before making the purchase, without putting you at any kind of disadvantage. That's not gambling, it's a normal transaction. It's about as exploitative as a clearance sale at a retail store.

It’s weird how much people defend bhvr, no other game would get away with a MM system being this broken. oh well, anything for a special tag I suppose
as to OP, we don’t want to be matched with greens lol, it’s this games horrid MM system and I have serious doubts the MMR system will be better
but thing is, what if I play with friends, am I now locked out of that option? can’t just do that
I must have missed the part in my own comment where I said that it was good or justified that the current system is so broken. Unless you're talking about the part where I said that it doesn't make a lot of sense to waste time fixing something you're about to trash anyway, in which case I'd love to hear your counter-proposal as to what you think ought to be done instead.
-
Red ranks aren't supposed to be matched with green ranks, period. The fact that they currently are is not intended, it's an acknowledged bug in the matchmaking system.
It seems likely to me that the devs won't be fixing this bug because the current system will soon be rendered obsolete anyway with the introduction of the new one, so it makes more sense to funnel resources into developing the new system than fixing the old one. That's what I would do in their position, anyway.

the new matchmaking system
The new system will be an MMR (matchmaking rating) system most games use. Your rank will become obsolete as far as the matchmaking is concerned. Players will be matched together by their skill rating.
skill rating (Survivor)
A survivor's skill rating will be determined by how well they do in a match and the rating of their opponent. Doing good against a Killer with a higher rating than you will award you more points than doing good against one with a lower rating than you.
skill rating (Killer)
A Killer's skill rating will be determined by the rating of the Survivors and how well they do in a match. Doing good against Survivors with a higher rating than you will award more points than doing good against ones with a lower rating.
Each Killer will have their own rating.
extra infos
- The Emblem system will determine how well you did in a match.
- Doing poorly against a Killer with a lower rating than you will make you lose more points than against a Killer with a higher rating.
- You won't be able to see your own rating; other Players won't be able to see your rank in the Tally Screen or Lobbies anymore.
Link to the Forum post: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/124795/status-update-matchmaking-changes#latest
Just to clarify some points, according to the post you linked, killers will not have their own individual ratings to begin with. They specifically stated that this is something they would like to include in the future, but it will not be part of the system when it launches.
Also in that post, they stated that "We’ve attempted to address this in the past with the Emblem system, but upon further review, we’ve concluded that rank does not directly correlate to skill... To help improve with the fairness factor without sacrificing wait times or pings, we will be making two changes. The first is a new system to better reflect a player’s skill level." In other words, the Emblem system will almost certainly not be what is used to determine a player's MMR, or if it is, it will be some new variation on the Emblem system unlike what we have currently.
@bomb1720 Also, in answer to your original questions, I'll just add that you will gain MMR points by winning regardless of what your opponent(s)' rating(s) are, even if you're "rank 3" and you beat a "rank 10". However, the amount of points you gain will depend on your relative skill levels, and you will gain a lot fewer points against less skilled opponents. The same in reverse goes for losses - you lose points regardless, but you lose less points if your opponent was more skilled than you, and vice versa. However, we don't know exactly how that will work mathematically, nor do we know how killers' ratings will be calculated (whether it will be based on an average of the survivors' MMRs, or the MMR of the most skilled survivor, or something else entirely).

No one has it out for them though because they usually have the lowest kill rate. Hell I hardly see them played but when I do, they're either really really good or just mediocre at at.
I don't think that's true - Pig doesn't have anywhere close to the lowest kill rate. In fact, according to the data from last November, she's in at least the top seven across all ranks, and top five at red ranks. Plus, you have killers like Clown with relatively low kill rates who a lot of people really dislike. I don't see much of a correlation there at all.
-
... You need better friends.
On topic, I don't think there is any one killer that is universally liked. There don't seem to be many people that have it out for Demogorgon or Pig, but there's always an exception to every rule.

16 is the minimum rank that you can reach by depipping. You cannot depip once you're at rank 16, but it is possible to depip from 15 to 16.

Was one of the gates already open? Blood Warden won't activate before the gates are opened, even if all the generators are completed, so if that's what happened it wasn't a bug.

It's a combination of latency and the fact that hatchets have spherical hitboxes. The way latency affects hit detection was explained in detail on the most recent dev stream (and for the record, the reason they explained it was so that they could then go on to talk about what they're doing to fix it).

That still doesn't answer anything I asked. Because even if there is an imbalance somewhere, I've never seen it nor experienced it to the degree that people claim it to be.
There are a lot of valid causes for complaint in DBD. That being said, people do tend to over-exaggerate the seriousness and/or frequency of certain issues because they forget that this game is played worldwide, and the majority of its players never bother making their voices heard online, so what this person has experienced and maybe heard from other people is only a very small fraction of the player experience as a whole.

That would be incredibly toxic for the survivors remaining in the game.
You can already ditch your team with a key if you want, but now they can't even try to follow you?
It would be a death sentence for the survivors left against any high mobility killer.
That's actually a really good point, and one of the best arguments I've heard in favour of allowing multiple survivors to escape through the hatch.

I often make incredibly stupid plays that I immediately realise were the wrong thing to do. Then I panic because I don't want to get chewed out for it in post-game chat. The problem is that survivors have an objective, though. Ultimately they should escape, or as their name implies, survive. Escape offers a sweet 5k blood points. Hooking and killing players does offer quite a few bloodpoints, but as it has been laid out, the game itself is centered around chases and interacting with survivors, not necessarily killing them. Hooks are a means to an end, to kill, but it's emphasized to hook survivors repeatedly, instead of hooking them to kill them.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1179899#Comment_1179899
A frustrating problem I have that adds salt to the wound is to see the 'entity displeased' at the end. Objectives are a good way to tell players that they are playing the way you want them to play. As stated above, objectives also offer a great way to balance the game. Maybe people would be less salty about getting a 0k or 1k if they knew they did the objective, chase and catch survivors, not necessarily kill them. Maybe there would be less tunneling and less camping.
Precisely. Hooks are a means to an end, as are chases. The fact that you don't spend the majority of your time killing people doesn't mean it's not the objective. You don't spend the majority of a Monopoly game bankrupting your opponents either, but that's still your objective. You spend the rest of the game building up to that point so that you can achieve the objective when the time comes. The same can be said of survivors and escaping. They spend the game doing generators, rescuing their teammates, distracting the killer, all to maximise their chances of an eventual escape, because that is their ultimate objective.
The Emblem system, flawed as it is, punishes both sides - killer admittedly more so - for completing their objective too efficiently, but it doesn't change the objective itself. It just makes you feel bad for doing it, which as I've explained is simply bad design. What you're observing is a fault with the Emblem system, not an inconsistency within the gameplay itself, though I believe the Emblem system's poor design is symptomatic of a larger issue which has the potential to affect other areas of the gameplay.
