It's only worth it if you intend on camping. Most of the time it's just extra time carrying a survivor when you could just have hooked him near you and already be chasing someone else.

I wouldn't say that. If it's nearby I put people in the basement for the hell of it. Mainly because "if" I come back I will likely catch them leaving the basement. Unless it's during the EGC, the gates are open and you have no means of downing another survivor before they escape. Your better off hooking and then go hunting.

Say I put someone in the basement and I leave. I didn't get far, I haven't found another person yet and the save was made. So I decide to go back to the basement and I might find 2 people. As far as I am concerned that is not camping. I left, the save was made while I was still close by and there was no one else for me to chase.

You know how when a rank 1 killer player tries to learn a new killer, and they suck ass and get stomped by red rank survivors? Well, the devs want to fix that by having every killer be looked at individually, so when the player chooses a killer it looks at the player's skill level with that specific killer and matches them up accordingly with survivors. That requires locking the killer the moment it's chosen, otherwise a player could choose a killer they suck with, get low-skill survivors, then switch to a killer they excel with and stomp noobs.

However, this is a future thing. Matchmaking does not yet work like this, so right now killers just get the worst of both worlds with terrible matchmaking and being locked out of changing characters.

That sounds all well and good. However it's all smoke and mirrors. We all know the MM will toss out fairness when survivors are in que for 10 mins.

  • If they were to add a LGBTQ character to dbd. I can guarantee you there will be people who get upset when that character gets killed. If they didn't want bad things to happen to this person maybe they shouldn't have wanted them added to a horror game?

Representation is important, and people (maybe not you) absolutely care about it.

I don't have a problem with representation. However I have a problem when it is forced because then it doesn't feel right. It feels like the only reason "this character" was added is because someone said "We don't have one of <insert name>". If a character was inserted into something and their race/ethnicity/sexual preference is literally the only thing about them. Then it feels like it was shoe horned in for the sake of saying "Were not racist. We have one of <insert name>"

If you want to throw in a LGBTQ then please make it fit with the game. Put some effort into it. Make this character have some interesting back story. Don't just toss a random alphabet person in here and say "There, you got one". Also don't get upset when that character gets killed. If your going to put someone in a horror base game you have to accept the idea that some bad @!#$ might happen to them.

Ahhh yes, killers don't do anything wrong, killers have never come back to the hook immediately and actively ignored survivors on purpose to tunnel the one off hook, and not to mention, killers cry at SWF and then act as if the person being tunnelled has any say it what a random team mate does.

Meanwhile survivors are free to be in a 4 man swf with one rank 20 to get matched with brand new killer players. They bring flashlights and teabag at every chance they get. All run DS+UB+Adren+DH and one of them brings a key. Then they say "GG EZ" in the end game chat and wonder why there aren't many people playing killer. Yet that's all fair because survivors are the ones buying the most cosmetics so they don't get told how to play.

  • @Seanzu said:

Ahh yes, because being tunnelled immediately off hook (which is what happens in every game there isn't an obsession) totally means you're just a bad player that isn't relying on their second chance perks because everyone has taken them off.

If your being tunneled off the hook perhaps your teammates should wait for the killer to leave? Your team makes a bad save and you expect the killer to not make use of this mistake? If the killer face camps you to death then you win the match. Provided your team is smart enough to do gens.

"not having my invincibility for 60 seconds off every hook would make me actually have to play the game and that's too much for me if the devs turn the perk in its current state from invincibility to an anti tunnel perk it would ruin this game"

It's unhealthy that so many people depend on this one perk to play the game. When they reworked ruin I was upset but I wasn't as affected because I was using Intervention. It sucked for awhile but once they nerfed tool boxes and killer's adapted. There is not 1 single perk in the killer's arsenal that is as praised as DS is too survivor's. Any killer perk that gets gutted we can supplement it with something else. If they truly balance DS the majority of survivors won't adapt. They'll just quit and the devs know that. Hence why they won't touch it.

  • @ILoveDemo said:

A Ds Nerf would kill this game the Devs know that.

I don't think it would kill the game but it certainly would experience a drop in player basis. SOOOOOOO many people would suddenly suck if their 2nd chance perks were taken away from them. It's like when you remove aim assist from CoD and those players can't hit the broad side of a barn.

Unfortunately things like this will continue until we stop letting it happen.

Well, the issue of balance comes in when one side does a base game objective better than the other side. But, players doing tasks necessary to win the game, in itself, isn't unbalanced.

I think the problem is one side keeps getting told "how" they should do their objective. While the other is not only allowed to use everything and anything, they keep getting more tools to achieve their objective because of developers that don't play past rank 20.

I don't care that it's day one. A product should be working before it is sold. Too many developers are adopting this "It'll get better" attitude. They release something that barely works and they fix it along the way.

  • I don't know why your so upset. As if you expected something different. It's not the first time they asked for feedback and did nothing with it. I expected this sort of behavior from BHVR :P

I'm buying them because I think their perks are good, plus this new killer isn't being embraced because they're good killers, but because of the unique gameplay that they offer. It's more of an enjoyable killer regardless of final match outcome.

    Enjoyable for whom? The survivors?

  • I think there's quite a few perks that are really good. They are just over shadowed by the meta or other perks are damn near required to have a good game.

corrupt intervention, stbfl, whispers, NC, myc, enduring+spirit fury, im all ears on PH.

alert, lithe+dance with me, kindred, q&q+head on, we'll make it

I don't think I'm going to even buy the chapter since it's incomplete.

I feel the same. I haven't even been playing for like 2 months. This chapter just doesn't look good at all. The killer feels like it's going to be a push over, their perks suck and with power struggle+flipflop that could be a good reason to stay away from killer. I could be wrong but this could also be a repeat of patch 1.9.2. I will not go through that again. Phoenix Point is coming out for steam on the 3rd. I'll probably be playing that. Also the next DLC for Warhammer 2. I was hoping Evil Genius 2 and Darktide would come out this month but they got pushed to next year. I have no plans for it yet but I have some friends who are psyched for Cyberpunk.

It seems like they're too afraid of making good perks.

I think the problem with most modern perks is they come with too many prerequisites to even activate them.

I think the problem is the more perks they add, the harder it gets to add more. They have to consider if a perk will be broken if it is mixed with another perk. At least I hope that's what they do. Given their track record I'm inclined to believe the team that makes new perks don't even play the game.

  • I'm glad you recognize that the problem is bad teammates instead of asking for killer nerfs. This is also why camping is so damn effective against randoms. If everyone is rushing the hook then nobody is doing gens. Your just feeding the killer more hooks. Like you said, what do they expect the killer to do? They are capitalizing on the survivor's mistakes. Survivor's would do the same if the killer made a bad play. It's one of the reasons I always bring Kindred when I play solo survivor. We need more survivors like you in this community.

  • There's just as many useless killer add ons.

  • This is why I show no mercy when I play killer. DO NOT listen to survivors. Most will complain for the sake of complaining. There is no survivors rule book for killers and vice versa. So long as your not cheating, play however you want and to hell with their opinions.

  • If you stun the killer with DS. Your reward is you get to live a bit longer.

  • @Dpooly said:

@EvilJoshy Not trying to be rude, but it says in the title what I'm suggesting, nothing permanent and with limitations.

No offense taken. The premise still remains. People will use it to avoid someone who beat the crap out of them.

  • There's a reason MLGA was banned. When someone lost, for any reason, they marked that person so they would never face them again. That screwed up que times and the devs forbid it's use.

  • @Steel_Eyed said:

I've seen a lot of shady stuff playing dbd but I've only ever met maybe 2 people who were certainly hacking. Most of the time it's usually a perk, add on, or something you weren't aware of.

Tell me the counter to Spirit in a chase and if you say "just stop running" or "do something random" there's no discussion to be had.

Mind game? Don't run where there's grass?(As a trapper main I can confirm there are a few maps that have virtually no grass outside the exit gates) Bring Iron Will so she can't hear you?

It's a trick question. You said "During chase" which is where you don't want to be against a good spirit. It's like asking how to counter a god nurse during chase. Your best solution is to not be found in the first place. Bring UE and Spine Chill. When it's going off sneak away. I've had people do it to my Nurse and it works. Even if I end up finding them due to Whispers it still took a chunk of my time.

I'm sorry, but until you consistently wait 20-30 minutes for a lobby, I'm not listening to this. I'm sure your lobby times will improve win the twins are released.

Actually I don't think it will improve much. This looks like the worst killer to date. Even Legion looks stronger than the twins. They're perks aren't even that good either. I don't picture many people buying them to use them or to unlock their perks for the real killers.

Thats weird I don't hate playing Trapper even though he requires me to go out of my way to disable his traps and can counter looping. Weird. Almost like there's actions I as a player can take to play against him and him putting down his traps isn't just an instant win.

It's kinda like noed. People feel it's a crutch perk, it's completely counterable but some people just don't feel like cleansing da bonez. These killers have counter play but some people don't want to adapt.

  • I feel the problem with stealth is the objective of the survivors. The faster you finish those gens the better your chances of escaping. Sadly that means running around. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy stealth. Whenever I play skyrim my sneak skill is always the first to hit lvl 100. I feel stealth has it's place in DBD but it has 3 main problems.

1: The community gives it a bad rep. When you hear stealth you think a P3 Blendette that's crouched in a corner. UE'ing everywhere and not doing gens. There's nothing wrong with using UE to get around but if the killer is occupied you can throw stealth out the window and start running to the nearest gen. Most survivors look down on stealth and often hate message new survivors who try to actually avoid being seen. This causes the new players to think they need to run everywhere.

2: Stealth is like most hex perks for killer. High risk and low reward. Minus a few exceptions(Devour Hope) When a chase begins, losing a killer through stealth is very difficult against decent killers. If it works it's amazing. However if it doesn't work the killer gets a free hit. If your bleeding there's almost no point in trying to stealth. You can bring perks like dance with me, q&q or iron will but that's like bringing toth to protect ruin. Your doubling down. If it doesn't work your at an even greater disadvantage. You could have instead brought 2nd chance perks. Which I feel are too many and too powerful. There's also the killer to consider. If it's someone with a one shot, like bubba, billy, Oni, I don't even try to stealth them. If they find me crouched behind debris it's a free chainsaw.

3: Pallet looping is just so damn good at wasting time. Stealth "might" work. Pallet looping "will" work. Even if your caught, a decent looper can waste enough of the killer's time for the team to repair gens. If a stealthy player manages to lose the killer. Then the killer will go back to patrolling gens and probably find someone else. If the killer is busy chasing someone for 1 min then the rest of the team is practically free from harm to repair the gens.

  • I feel these killers are fine. The issue is the community. They want the same tactics to work on all killers. Ex, pallet looping. Which is why people don't like facing these killers. They force you to do something different.

If you hate these 4 you will love a good Nurse :P

  • I'm not gonna buy it. I even have the shards for it and I don't feel like getting it. The killer sucks and their perks aren't much either. Id rather save it for the next chapter.

  • It's not that ruin+undying has no effective counter. It's that most people don't want to do it.

  • @notlonely said:

    Just don't slug lmao

"Power struggle prevents me from picking people up at pallets"

    "Just dont slug"

"I keep getting hit by DS"

    "Dont tunnel"

Next I predict it's gonna be "I cant get any kills with all these 2nd chance perks?"

    "Play something else" lol

  • I feel undying is fine. Maybe they might remove the aura reveal part but it's 2 perks to be effective. Ruin is useless unless the killer is applying pressure. Ruin was often destroyed early so it didn't see much value. Until Undying got here PGTW was the new gen slowing perk.

As much as I feel DS needs to be redesigned I feel they won't touch it. Sooooooooooooooo many survivors would instantly suck without this one perk and we all know the devs don't want to upset 4/5's of their customers.

  • @Bard said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1777878#Comment_1777878

No. They can just go down at a pallet, have an ally buy time for 10 seconds, and then escape because they had Flip Flop and Unbreakable.

I haven't paid much attention to this chapter. I thought you had to wiggle X amount for the pallet to drop. Meaning if they were under a pallet it didn't matter how long they were waiting there, they weren't wiggling so they couldn't drop it. I hadn't considered mixing the perk with flip flop because how many people actually used that perk till now?

Reminds me of patch 1.9.2 -.-

  • Couldn't you avoid this perk by just walking around pallets?

  • I miss Nurse before her rework. Get rid of her old add ons but I want the blink CD removed.

  • Well said. I feel this is what happens when you lower the standards. Years ago it was actually harder to rank up and there weren't as many tools at your disposal. I really feel the ruin rework literally opened the gates for the newbs to get to red ranks. When ruin forced you to hit great skill checks that at least stopped people from repairing gens unhindered while the killer was busy somewhere else. Now people can rank up without even running into the killer. Before the emblem system, red rank gave a mote of assurance that person has an idea of how to play. Now rank means literally nothing. It's hard to distinguish who is actually skilled when they let everyone in.

  • As killer, DS. It rewards bad game play and can easily be abused. Even if I don't tunnel I can be punished by it. I have to assume everyone is running it.

As survivor id say Insidious because it has no practical application outside of camping. I've yet to see someone put this perk to use besides hooking someone, standing around the corner and waiting for the rescue. If I see a killer with insidious I'm going to assume they're planning to basement camp.

  • @Leonardo1ita said:

Then later in the video he says that the dbd mobile Instagram page blocked people complaining. #########? ARE WE SERIOUS?

That's become the thing now. Ever since The Ghostbusters reboot creators learned they can erase any negative comment/review by calling that person toxic. If someone doesn't say anything positive about their product they delete it to give off the impression it is perfect.

  • Mobile games are not real games. They're cash grabs. Not everyone has a gaming PC, an xbox or a playstation. Literally everyone has a phone and they want to tap into that market. When BHVR announced DBD mobile I knew it was just to get more money out of their one successful IP. They were probably watching that one Blizcon where they announced Diablo Immortal and thought "That's a great idea. Why dont we do that?". I guess they didn't watch it long enough to see the audience's reaction. It doesn't matter because they probably turned a profit out of it from people buying cosmetics.

It's kind of ironic. All the points people stated about leaving DBD mobile. Bugs, swf, devs ignoring feedback to pushout more content. It's almost like watching the eventual downfall of DBD in fast forward.

  • The thing I like about options that are rarely picked is how you can catch people off guard because they are thinking "Oh he wouldn't be stupid enough to do that".

Slightly off topic but one killer I still play is Nurse. She is certainly not low tier but the reason I bring her up is the amount of survivors I face lately that simply don't know how to play against Nurse is mind boggling. Since her rework hardly anyone is using her due to her bugs. Throw in cross play where Nurse barely even worked at all on consoles and you got a ton of people who have never faced a decent Nurse. Those survivors try to pallet loop the Nurse as if she were a M1 killer. They get out played badly, then they go to the forums and scream "Nurse is OP!" What I find hilarious is how foolish these players look when people "educate" them on all the things they are doing wrong.

  • My advice is to play something else. If enough people take a break than the devs might actually balance the game instead of cranking out more useless cosmetics and crappy new killers.

  • I'm a killer main. I feel the need to say that because some insist on knowing what side your on. I have serious issues with DS, UB and other things. However I'm totally fine with BT because I remember the days when it applied to both the unhooked and the rescuer. Back then it was safe for both parties to hook farm unless the killer was Bubba. I have no problem with people trying to body block because I can go around the person with BT. When someone is making a save, I injure them, they make the save and the unhooked tries to block for them. I can just go around them to hit the rescuer. If for some reason I can't go around them I can count to 15 and then hit the blocker. That person is now on the ground again. If they have DS they either wasted it or I can leave them bleeding to lure someone else to heal them. If they brought UB then it too is wasted.

The only change I would like to BT is make it trigger off the killer's proximity to the hook rather than their TR. Certain killers can completely bypass their TR like GF/Pig/Wraith or even Freddy if the survivor is in the dream world.

  • You fight a good nurse by adapting. Don't try to loop her. I see too many people treat her like an M1 killer. Instead of looping something keep running. The main issue is the block line of sight. Nurse has to blink to catch you because her movement is slower than yours. With the CD now she even has to blink twice, recharge and blink again to be close enough to land a hit. Every extra blink or missed swing adds more time for her to recover. If you force the Nurse to guess where your going then your doing well. A common thing survivors do to my Nurse is loop the outside of the killer shack. They constantly try to stay just around a corner. They either keep running or when they hear a blink they turn around. I can either blink through the wall to where I think they are going or I can blink forward to catch them trying to turn around. You can waste a Nurse's time by constantly making them guess. No it's not 100% effective but no method is suppose to be. If the killer spots you they are going to down you. It's a question of when. If you wasted enough of the killer's time for your friends to complete gens then you did well. Even if the Nurse gets salty and face camps you to death. You still won.

  • @MrPenguin said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1773021#Comment_1773021

    Yes but DS+UB:

    A) Put that time in control of the survivor as to when it happens. So you could be slugging at a horrible time that loses you pressure rather than gain it. A slug can easily be an easy heal with no tracking of where they are as well as you not even getting the hook state from it if done at the wrong time, DS does not give you a choice. Let alone adding UB into the mix which...

    B) Put the killer in a lose-lose where if they slug they get up on their own, if they pick them up they get off as well. It's a free health state either way and a lack of pressure as well since their teammates are free to do whatever now.

DS just last too long and has no deactivate condition like it needs, and survivor can easily abuse it to just do things for free right in front of the killers face. Prime example is just running up for the unhook with DS up, now both survivors have DS and potentially UB, and one potentially has BT. Guess I just leave? Another example is just getting on a gen, oh killer comes by? Jump in a locker. Guess I just let them get a free gen.

There's also plenty of people who don't tunnel and get hit by DS. It punishes killers who just do well, which it really shouldn't., It needs a change of some kind.

This. I've been saying for years that situation is bad for the game. I make a save, I leave, hook someone else, the first person I hooked saves in my face. Now both have DS, both could have UB and one has BT. It's a lose/lose no matter what I do. But so many survivors and killers suck at this game that DS will never be balanced.

Too many killers can't see past what is right in front of them so they tunnel someone to death. Justifying this perks existence.

Too many survivors suck at looping/routing. So they stack 2nd chance perks and any mention of fixing any one of them they start an uproar.

Then the devs are afraid to tell everyone to git gud for fear of people review bombing the game or no longer buying the cosmetics.

That is an awesome analogy. 2nd chance perks really do feel like the blue turtle shell.

I think one problem is the game has no identity. It's not a serious competitive game but at the same time it is far from casual. So who is it made for?

  • Nothing is better than Whispers >.>
