although everyones eating the cake, you want it to be the best right? so have the 5 star baker help make the cake. also saying that everyone is using the cakemix means that everyones making the cake, which is thankfully not true
Ill be honest, 5star chefs don't make the best food for me, because we all have different tastes. if you assume 5star chefs make the best food, then you are wrong. Same thing with dbd, You dont want the top MMR players saying what the game should be.

It'd likely be much more fruitful to evaluate why certain killers are rarely picked than dangle these carrots that would, in practice, make players feel like they're being punished for playing their favorite killers.
This is an important message that I wish would get straight to everyone at bHVR, Older Killers may have an acceptable Killrate, but they are increasingly outdated and unpleasant to play as. If they could do some more Questionnaires on why the Gameplay flow for these other older Killer is so bad, then surely bHVR could make some changes to make the bad parts lesser without rocking the Killrate a lot. I swear to you bHVR if you focus on making Killers feel great to play then more would play them.
-
too abusable in many areas of the maps
Maybe you could show them and how they are abuseable.
-
5 second stun DS could be abused with Head On to lock killers for 8 seconds, I don't want to go against such teams again.

if u were baking a cake, and were having trouble, who would u ask for help? the 5 star baker or the person who doesnt know how to turn on an oven? i understand there are more average players than people with 5k plus hours but experience knows all
That way of putting it is flawed, bHVR isnt trying to make the perfect match. a better way would be saying bHVR is making Cakemix, a product which can be used by both a 5 star baker or a random person. Its no use if the Cakemix is made specifically for the 5 star baker, because with all due respect the 5 star baker isn't who they are selling to. They are selling to everybody.

The devs have the history of nerfing the things that are too popular. 50% heal speed self-care was arguably a bad perk, and the devs nerfed it because it was too popular . They even wanted to nerf Hillbilly's engraving add-ons because they were too popular, not because they were overpeforming. So by that logic, yes, Wesker needs a nerf just based on his excessive popularity. But he also has too much to his power, like I mentioned.
I refuse to believe this until one of developers come in here, where they sit down and confirm that the only concern they had in those instances was the popularity and only that. Because without that, you have nothing than a faulty theory regarding bHVR and not a reason anyone should accept for nerfing Wesker.
-
This is quite the reach, like is Wesker overperforming? on what basis other than him being a good Killer, are you proposing to nerf him?
-
I dont see how your suggestions make a compelling reason to change the DC penalty. Sometimes a DC is the only way. No way its fair to stop me playing the game cause I met a hacker and your idea enforce a 10min penalty. NO THANKS.
-
DbD is legendary for the toxic behaviour over chat, I think we need to change that before bHVR would even consider enabling that.
-
There are some very questionable changes that happen that most experienced players say are obvious design flaws.
Remember the game isn't made for the most experienced players in most instances, its made for your average player.
-
for 7 years the devs have been balancing around 4 perk slots, if they add more, they undo all of it.
-
I think Bloodlust is gonna be forever because the Devs cant never be perfect with their level design and certain tiles together still spawn that makes it impossible to catch a Survivor. That is why its always preferable to have it.
Survivor mains will disagree, but you dont get to have infinites or near infinites, this is why bloodlust must exist.
-
I see no reason to add more to Bubba, people like a simple Killer and keeping it simple is good enough-
Infact, it makes me happy I dont have to sweat some super skills to play him, he makes for good comfy and relaxing Killer play.
Well compared to many other Killers that is.
-
bHVR I have seen like 50 threads like these, Please make a public statement on it. Thanks,

I'd keep it 3 seconds stun but add 150% movement speed for 3 seconds.
make DS an exhaustion perk? You already get Endurance and run speed from getting unhooked.
-
thats a good way to put it, Im also disappointed with Singularity.
-
A Perk that gives full basement Aura reading all match and gives you a notification every time someone enters the basement.
That would be good.

i can have SMALL expectations but without it actually mattering to me THAT much, don't see the problem
I see, if expectations were so small I would not care about it at all and let them go, to me whom ever bHVR picks is the winner. No skin off my back. What makes those expectations stick with you even when they matter so little to you? If you prefer not answer that's fine too, this is just me wondering what's up.

honestly i dont really care that he has won but kinda expected a new character to win, didnt expect the same one at all
Can you tell me how you can not care about the winner, but still have expectations as to who is going to be winning and not?
Those seem like strong contradictions to me.
-
Would that not be unfair to people who come up with a good Clown skin then? You want bHVR to be like, "Yeah, Sorry but Clown won last year. We cant allow our artists who want to make that skin do that cause clown already won once."
Honestly I think the bHVR artists are free to pick whatever winners fit their criteria for a good skin, even if Clown wins again in 2025.
-
That is simple, cause its a Game, not a Contest.

why do survivors get a free escape for losing the game?
if bhvr is just gonna hand out base kit perks for survivors to enforce the rule book hatch should be removed it would fix alot of issue with survivors sitting on hatch and stalling out the game because the killer must watch them leave.
thoughts?
The Hatch is there to encourage the game ending and not being dragged on forever, The Killer can Slug for the 4K if they think they can find them. At times the Killer finds the Hatch first and the Survivor can be found at the gates. Its all about ending the game when its clearly over in the Killers favour.
Don't you see it? Like the alternatives without Hatch would be drawn out long waste of both players time.
I think it FEELS like a loss because the Survivor TECHNICALLY escapes from a game you have won as Killer. But look at it for real, you caused the Hatch to spawn, You deleted 3 Survivors. You won by any rational estimation, bHVR would clap.
Ofc the Survivors in Post Game Chat will never recognize that, they are eternally silly.

wow this thread is an omega lesson in how your personal experience of the game means nothing for others. listen to the guy.

How about instead we just make it so BT has its timer paused when in Chase.
Survivors would abuse having that much time, causing them to actively run into the Killer's view to body block to force a hit or body block.

"Exploited" by comboing it with a meme build and giving up all the stun distance, exhausting yourself, and having no anti-tunnel protection for the rest of the match? Seems like a fast way to throw a match into a 3v1 as survivor.
Yes, its about as fun as Old Eruption.
-
I second this, there is nothing more demotivating than watching prestige above 50.
-
Wont that just increase the number of users who dodge the lobby if they see a SWF???
-
I agree it would improve Twins a lot if Victor would reveal their location.
Artist too.
-
I do agree that exposed addons that easily allow for a down is the pinnacle of just a poor idea.
Why? Because all it takes is the SBMM System to have a nervous breakdown and then I get a master skill huntress with Iridescent Hatchet, its a horrible experience. Killers should not have addons which a Skilled player can take to such ridiculous heights.
Even when it comes to Pinky Finger for Clown, I heard from some Clown Mains dont even like using it cause it just feels cheap to use it, and I agree. I have had many SoloQ games that just break down out and over when the Clown can down a Survivor so fast.
It was also rather laughable how Pink Finger was nerfed so slightly, I wonder what it would take for bHVR to realize that easy exposed addons are terrible cause they don't seem have acted much on the feedback I have seen over the years.

Cenobite is too strong.
When I pick the box, why chain hunting is still activating? That's too strong!!!
Nerf Cenobite !
It can definitely be annoying if you pickup the box and then the chains come, however the chains should come intermittently, which means you can only really solve the box after dodging a chain from the box. Next time you face Cenobite try waiting the chains out when you pickup the box and then solve the box when the chains are dodged, but dont wait too long as the next chains are coming sooner or later. Tell us how it goes.

If you think Im having fun as Survivors smash my head to pieces with Pallets or vault and tbag, I think you have a bad notion of fun.

Define good location? Do they spawn in brush and high-traffic paths at all? Or do you mean consolidated in an area?
From my gameplay, they spawn in very useless places. i dont think bHVR has implemented extra care to the Trapper in this regard at all.
-
Problem is Traps down spawn in Good Locations.
If they did, then this would instantly remove any setup time and have the Trapper be an active Killer instantly.
-
The only buff DS could deserve was it would put the Killer's Power on Cooldown to help it against Nurse/ Blights.
Any buff the the Stuntimer would make it abuseable with Head On again.
-
Well you got 3gen and anti face-camping mechanics coming to your rescue plus the removal of hookgrabs soon. AND a handful of new Perks to rejuvenate your meta from Nicolas Cage next week.
Your complaints are like the lack of birthday cake in your mouth while its being carried from the Kitchen to your table. Sure, its not touching your taste buds right now, but with what's coming you got so much coming AND hope.

But what if survivor want to hang with her? She has a lot simps 😶
She drinks their blood. Being a simp for a meatgrinder is not wise.
-
I like the idea that Trapper gets a speed boost from having a Survivor in a trap.
its sorta fits the Agitation perk
Would be nice to see that baked into his main power.
-
BOTs are not meant to fix why people DC in the first place, but lessen that impact on players who dont DC.
-
yes Lady D is already super iconic. I would like to play with her.
I hope her powers has some way to send her daughters after the Survivors to harras them
But most of all I hope she can pickup a pallet and fling it at Survivors.
-
And what would cause them not to ban every player that is better at the game than then?
-
No cause then it can be exploited with Head On again. Dont do this bHVR.
-
Wesker Distressing builds would disagree

SWFs have a huge advantage in that they're able to communicate about various aspects of the game -- which gens are done/being worked on, where the killer is at, etc. There's nothing that a killer has at their disposal to counter this.
Would applying something like a 10% increase to gen timers per person in the party, or maybe decreasing heal speed? There needs to be soemthing to compensate for the advantage that SWFs have.
How huge is this advantage tho?
The devs can answer how close we came with the Survivor Hud Icons, how much diffrence there is SoloQ vs. SWF now.

Why are you chasing someone who was unhooked less than ten seconds ago, though?
Tunneling is the ONLY way to play DBD,...
He said so already.
-
Im sure the SBMM system would love having some killers, apply for 3 to 6 Qs and the have them be removed again quick when a Lobby is found. There are like so many things that need to change for this to be a reality. Why cant you just play them on rotation?

Because we can't be sharing good will during a promotional event, we must be promoting spitefulness.
Thats the Spirit!
-
I think the event was terrible, Good Survivors can get insane value out of blocking the vaults. While the Killer cant get insane value out of destroying a pallet because it just means the Survivor always has to go to the next pallet anyway.
This problem has been so out of control that, Loads of Lobbies must have been dodged during the event because when I played Killer I would only get lobbies with Survivors far above my MMR.
Perhaps the event could have been good if all things worked better together, but we will never know.
-
Triple bps might be a little too much.

@Peanits said:
I can chime in here.
Being afraid has nothing to do with it, it's more to do with time management and priorities. Large scale Killer reworks require a huge amount of time between designers, programmers, and QA. In order to do these types of large Killer reworks, we need to sacrifice on other things such as new features, perk balancing, etc. In a perfect world where we could squeeze as much as we want into a single update, these sorts of reworks would probably be more common, but sadly that is just not possible. Everything comes with a tradeoff.
As for why these sorts of reworks aren't the highest priority, this is where it gets a bit more complex. First off, we're at the point where there are 32 Killers in the game and counting. Even assuming that each Killer is played exactly equally, this would mean that each Killer is only seen in a little over 3% of all matches. Spending a significant amount of time on an update that only affects ~3% of matches is harder to justify when it means sacrificing new highly requested features or a bunch of perk updates which could impact all matches.
Beyond that, there is only so much we can do to make a Killer appealing to everyone. Different Killers focus on different playstyles. Some may be focused on setting traps, others on keeping Survivors busy, some on chases, and so on. These different playstyles can help fill different niches. A newer player who's having a hard time finding Survivors might be drawn to The Doctor, for example. Naturally, certain playstyles become more successful in high end matches and others fall out of favour. Experienced Survivors, for example, are less likely to stumble into a trap because they know what to look out for and can predict where the Killer may have placed them. Each power also has a different skill ceiling, so while some allow you to continue improving almost endlessly, others have an upper limit by virtue of their design.
Making each Killer equally strong at the highest skill levels is not the goal. Dead by Daylight is for everyone, not just the few at the very top. Often times these Killers are already doing pretty well in the vast majority of matches even if they fall out of favour in higher end matches. In these cases, buffing these Killers to the point where they are competitive in a high end match would cause them to be far too strong in the majority of matches. This is a net-negative change. While yes, it may be better for you, it makes things worse for the majority of players. Everyone's experience matters, not just those with more skill. In reality, it is not possible for every Killer to be equally viable at all skill levels.
Something else that we need to consider are the players who already enjoy these Killers the way they are. Legion is a perfect example of this. There's no shortage of suggestions to rework The Legion's power to make them stronger. Yet in spite of this, The Legion is consistently one of the most played Killers. While they might not be the strongest in high end matches, there is still a large crowd who enjoy them as is. That raises the question, is it worth reworking a Killer that many people already love to play just to make people who don't play them happy?
The Trapper is also a special case. He's the poster boy, front and center on all the artwork. He's the Killer you'll face and play during the tutorials, and he's unlocked by default. This is all very intentional; new players are naturally going to gravitate towards him. His power is very simple and easy to understand, and it tends to be fairly balanced in matches between newer players. He serves a special role of being a stepping stone toward learning the game. Because of this, his power is intentionally kept as simple and intuitive as possible (pick up a trap, set a trap), and he is intended to be fairly balanced in these sorts of games.
All this said, that doesn't mean we'll completely ignore these Killers. We do make smaller balance changes on a regular basis, and larger reworks are still planned to release from time to time. But we do need to keep everyone in mind when making these decisions and consider the role they currently fill in the game, as well as whether or not our time would be better spent on balance changes that could affect all players rather than a select few matches. It would be a different story if there were only a handful of Killers to choose from, but the roster is fairly big at this point. The goal isn't so much to make every last one of them perfect for everyone, it's to make sure that there's at last few options that appeal to everyone, regardless of how they play.
Peanits, Sorry to snipe you here. But since we are talking Killer development, can you answer why some Killers feel like, they only work with a specific set on addons? Not to pin you, but I feel bHVR has a tendency to make addons that are so good, they become the only logical choice.
Examples of this is Deathslinger with reloadspeed addons, trickster with speed while raised knives addons and knight with Guard range addon, Wraith with uncloak speed addons
I think you could do these Killers much better by adding these to the Killer's basekit (to some degree) and reworking the addons to have a more interesting effect. Because to me, Killers who have addons designed in a way to logic trap them is a big turnoff.
Like those Killer's addons must have huge stats, huge usage rate right? Does that not entice you guys to focus on spreading out the addon use some more? Just wondering how these things happen and are seemingly never remedied?
-
It makes badly designed maps and loops way longer, I ran a guy who has this on Groaning Storehouse and I could not catch them, plus the chase broke TWICE so windows would not block. It may or may not show up in killrates, but its beyond frustrating to deal with and that is unfair to give Survivors such an easy way to add more frustration to the most frustrating role in the Game.
