Comparison is clearly just a bigger word than you believe.
If you wanna define everything as a comparison, you enjoy yourself, Keep me out of private notions.

You can attempt to sidestep to make me look foolish, but your original comment was definitely drawing a comparison. You brought up Windows being an incentive to not learn to plan an escape route as a comparison to the OP stating that Lightborn incentivized killers to not learn to avoid blinds.
From the dictionary: comparison - A consideration or estimate of the similarities or dissimilarities between two things or people.
In your case: comparing how two different perks that do different things may both be used as a crutch (or a way to avoid getting better at something in the game.)
If you were, indeed, attempting to question why something exists then you still drew a comparison by using the Lightborn argument as a bridge to discuss a similarity between two dissimilar things.
I'm not trying to make you look foolish, that is all your own doing by pretending you know what Im saying better than I.
I don't know how to cut this out better for you than the following:
You brought up Windows being an incentive to not learn to plan an escape route as a comparison to the OP stating that Lightborn incentivized killers to not learn to avoid blinds.
Not at all, I need to do a comparison for it to be a comparison (its sorta in the name), but there is no evaluation of their qualities that being differences or similarities. It isnt a consideration or an estimate either. Its is what is called, an identification.
What that part of the comment is an example of another perk, and yes its definitely two things, it isnt a comparison yet until I start comparing them. However you will notice Im not speaking of which ones are better or worse. Im just identifying it.
Im pinpointing a quality they have. So I can do a comparison??? No, that is irrelevant to my discussion, which is why I dont actually start comparing them. Instead I continue with questioning for further evidence and asking towards the reason for both of them.
You might say, isnt that a comparison of the two? No it isnt cause I am not doing any evaluation, contrast, collation, juxtaposition, differentiation, weighing up or balancing between the two. If it was then sentences like would be comparisons.
- "Grab the boxes"
- "Where are you guy's mother?"
Clearly you can talk about quality that two or more objects have without it being a comparison, which I think is clearly the case when I said it and then asked a follow up question with identification. However even when corrected by me, the person who made the point, I thought up the thought, you still come back telling me its a comparison, like what's the goal here, telling me what I think?
You honestly don't and you don't want to take a correction when I give you one.

As I said, I don’t agree with the OP, but comparing the two perks is silly and doesn’t help get your point across.
David we had this discussion before on this forum now, evaluating the reason and logic behind perks isn't a comparison of the two perks. I am sorry that you see it as a comparison, but really its about why they are there and I honestly don't understand why I have to defend myself twice being questioned by you.
Dare I say its an invitation to think about why things are in the game, not a comparison. Again, mentioning two things ISNT always a comparison. But don't worry ill continue to correct you, should you bring the concern of yours to me again.
-
True, just a lil TICK besides the Perks to random them all. Would suffice as a beginning.
Then later, add a random tick for each Perk slot so you can equip some you want and some random.

This is part of what I was trying to say about LB with the learning deficit I would say at most LB is like training wheels for beginners but when I see someone in high MMR with LB I just imagine a grown man on an adult bike with training wheels on it still
Yeah and there is one problem with this. 1. You have no data to demonstrate that LB users actually have a leaning deficit. 2. So it seems to only be an assumption that LB users will be bad at that gameplay, but never how much, like how big a problem is it?

I’m not agreeing with the original post but you’re off-base. WoO is 1) a good perk for new players to learn how to loop or learn maps and 2) a good way to avoid getting caught in a dead end. It’s not the same as not learning to plan your escape especially if a stealth killer surprises you.
I know what WoO does, the point is I dont see how WoO does not equally cause a learning deficit on the same grounds that Lightborn does. Which would be baseless as far as I am concerned.

Nobody plays those Killers cause they are not encouraging to play, they need some QoL before they would be played.

Why would this ever be a problem legally?? 🤣
You’re free to do whatever you want man but don’t complain when you play filler for a lobby like OP played in.
And you do have a choice as well, you can play against these teams, learn from your mistakes and get better as a result or you can keep looking for easy games you can stomp.
IT could be a legal problem, Because bHVR could make it a ban-able offense to dodge a lobby.
I still have the right to complain about the current system and I hope bHVR will listen that their SBMM system does not deliver quality matches atm- Nothing you have said prevents that right. Dont see why you wish for me not to have that.
If the choice is being a punching bag for juiced up Survivors or stomping some beginners, after 10 matches of being a punching bag I deserve to punch some myself. It is justice.
-
@Nebula said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3477464#Comment_3477464
Because unless they change the way their MMR system works this is exactly how it would play out. The soft cap for MMR is way too low and you can face players with less than 500 hours who are already at the highest MMR bracket. Expanding queue times would not make games better, they’d be the exact same but with just longer waits.
Throw in with how many killers dodge lobbies and matchmaking will never work properly. You can’t dodge lobbies you don’t want to play then complain matchmaking is poor. You’re part of the problem if so.
So far I have the freedom and the right to ensure my games are good, if bHVR cant make the SBMM system work reliably then I got no other choice. There is nothing wrong with this morally or legally as far as I am aware.
In fact the reason I would be lobby dodging is precisely because the lobbys I got were bad, I deserve a good time now.

Simple. Fix tunneling, then, from that, buff killers. It's useless to buff killers as long as tunneling isn't looked at.
tunneling isn't an illegal move yet tho

@Nebula said:

There’d be no difference. The reason matchmaking sucks is because of their criteria they use. Escapes and kills do not equate to skill in the slightest. You’d still get killers who are at the skill cap that don’t belong because of how easy it is to secure kills by camping and tunneling, and you’d still get good survivors who are below the skill cap because they don’t play to escape.
This isn’t a queue time issue, this is a fundamental mechanic problem. Longer queues would do nothing but anger more people.
How do you know this would be the case?

Most games are like cutscenes they are that short lmao. I usually go against one good survivor and their teammates usually make it an easy win for me. Sometimes I feel so bad that I give the best survivor hatch, that's if they didn't DC from seeing their teammates blow up a gen.
Worst part is when the difficulty goes up to max randomly and I have to deal with a unwinnable SWF situation but even then the games go by fast.
My experience of the game totally different until I started dodging lobbys.

People complain about matchmaking all the time but when queues were 10 minutes everyone was telling the devs they’d rather have unfair matches with 2 minute queues than fair ones with 10.
If they change this the complaints wouldn’t stop, they’d just switch topics.
Yes and right now Queues are less than 10 seconds so bHVR can roll it back no issue.
Ill be more than happy to wait 1min than 10min.

Fun is subjective.
I don't have fun stomping people, some other players do.
I merely pointed out how they did quite well under the circumstances and that, should they decide to, they could continue to improve and beat these sorts of teams.
Fun being subjective does not make bad matchmaking good and skill wont fix bad matchmaking either.
As I pointed out there are a huge amount of lobbies floating in the matchmaking, increasing in range to fill them up and its not providing a good general gameplay experience. This is the message that needs to get to bHVR so they can make changes.

I’ve only been playing for the past 7 months when I can so some things I am still getting a handle on. I just think it’s kind of hard when he can constantly pull minions one after another. Because rig hit after the timer runs out he can just about pull another within a few seconds.
I do like the Knight but on the survivor side it does seem a little meh. Hopefully the update will help with this issue too. Thanks for the information as well!
Maybe you should try playing the Knight and learn what the Survivors are doing, cause as an overpowered power it isn't.
I might even go so far as to say, Survivors do fine against me when im playing the Knight.
-
Those sorts of Games are not fun, I have been there in the event too, loads of juiced up matches too.
There seems to have been a reduction in Killers because normally there is never 100% bps for Killers in the evening for me and it seems these lobbies are being dodged by Killers in their MMR range, which forces the range to open up to quickly start the trial. During this entire event I have had matches against these juiced up Survivors who play way better than what anyone would consider a fair match.
I fear the system is broken right now, you can fix it by dodging until you get normal looking Survivors and it works, its much more fun with an even match.
@Pulsar said:
How do you know it's a SWF?
Judging off of points, the game wasn't a complete wash. Likewise, considering you are playing off-meta, to say the least, and that your opponents are playing meta for the most part, seems like you did quite well. Keep it up and try to learn from every match, you did well on this one.
Eventually, you'll be able to beat these guys.
Points does not mean the player had Fun, Pulsar. Games are supposed to be fun & hyper fixating on increasing their skill is just an excuse for poor matching and game design. Its just whiteknighting on skill without relevant data to back up the point.

Now tell me how i'm supposed to do anything ? I would like an answer from the lead game designer, that he explains me how i'm supposed to have fun in those games ?
Of course it was an SWF, 4 gens done in less than 5 minutes.
Pretty much sure ppl will say skill issue :)
Pretty much sure ppl will say skill issue :)
They always say its a skill issue without relevant proof to back up their claim, its an excuse cause they believe skill can transcend everything and right now its just used to defend the game from critique and used to dismiss people who ask for the game to be better.

Adressing tunneling does not mean nerfing killers, it means balancing the whole game. I completely know how is it to play killer, i'm a 50/50 players.
At this point, with the current state of the game, why killer players are still playing ? Trials that are fun (balanced) represent maybe 10% of the trials you get. They are either too easy either impossible to deal with.
What it does mean is while bHVR figures out how to address tunneling we Killers have to stomach being underpowered and that is a bad way of doing it. There is no changing that fact.

True but windows doesn’t guarantee safety and can be countered with blind status and knowing how to mind game and counter loops while lightborn has no counter play except do gens then it’s all about gen rushing
You forgot about another part of getting Survivors to a hook, bodyblocking. Survivors still have that.
-
@jeffkillsyou96 said:

Well comparing perks with different functions is pretty impractical also don’t killers have a windows perks too and just because you can see vaults and pallets doesnt mean you still don’t need to plan escapes it may help you find a loop easier but that doesn’t mean you don’t need to know how to loop and play the game while lightborn you don’t need to learn to play
windows maybe at most training wheels to help find loop but it’s not an absolute protective blank like lightborn
Im not comparing the function of the Perks, I am comparing the Design Philosophy of both of them.
Windows of Opportunity helps Survivors SO MUCH thats why its used so often.
-
@flotaku said:
Ah, so you want people to despise legion even more than they already do
Its not the ideas fault bHVR had made the egregious error to combine a general mechanic & a Killer.
These two should never have been combined, Survivors hate mending. Idk if bHVR knew this or didn't pay heed to it.
-
I agree its very tedious, maybe like 3000hours ago I was a careful new player who studied the bloodweb to make the most value, now its just about how fast I can press the auto button and get more addons ill never use.
-
Survivors have Windows of Opportunity which encourages them not to learn to plan their escape.
So how can Lightborn be a problem, Surely both sides deserve equal treatment regarding perks that take away a bad part of the game?

Tbf though the killer can still get more BP than a tunneled & camped survivor..
the trick to that is, not getting found first.
-
People thought Eruption and Dead Hard was fine too and bHVR developed those perks.
Sometimes people are wrong about their notions and sometimes bHVR makes some perks that wont show up as bad as easily.
-
bHVR is working on an anti 3 gen mechanic to put more pressure on Killers and eliminate the strategies they can use.
in the meanwhile you can use deja vu to make that a near impossibility unless your teammates or he 3 gens from the start.
-
What do you expect us to do? bHVR puts 5 times the pressure on Killers than Survivors and puts everything EVERYTHING in our way that the only way we can ever kill a Survivor is if they make a mistake. Playing Killer the normal way does not work, cause Survivors have a trillion pallets to work with.
And then there is this event and Survivors can summon pallets out of their butts, Oh but If I camp and tunnel then I am Satan.
Sure thing, what ever you want.

you mean like coup the grace which improves your m1 lunge? I imagine it is because improving m1 can be very powerful and the dev are scared to make powerful killer perks.
Its not like STBFL and Coup together is overperforming.
-
Im just disappointed Save the Best For Last is the only Perk that does what it does.
You know, you would expect in a game where all Killers do M1, there would be more perks like it.
-
This is true, I don't feel the matches we have are on equal footing. At times it feels like the Survivor knows my Killer better than I and that is no fun at all to go against. I just want to have a fun match, I want to feel like I can do something in the trial. I don't want to be some rapid comp Survivor's chew toy for 15min.

Even after a rework regarding 3 genning, she’ll still be a shitshow to play against. She just places a drone over a generator, kicks it, you cannot immediately disarm the drone, she’ll make you waste resources (pallets) and makes you heal longer with SB.
SM needs a rework from the ground up.
idk about that, Do you have like a video showing you playing vs. one?
-
I remember I made a post about this when it came out, because I dont like bragging but it seems the reality is people don't like engaging in matches where they perceive a disadvantage. Please bHVR, you really should fix that. Keep it on the post game screen, if you really must have them bragging on the post game screen.
-
Well, she is not. bHVR is working on a system to the game which is going to prevent 3 gen strategies for her and all other Killers.
After that can happen, bHVR will look at how she is played and make changes after that.
Time? Probably a Year lol
-
Why wait for a crow?
To me it seems clear that when two hitboxes have been moving against each other for more than 5 seconds without moving physically around the map, the Survivor hit box should loose collision. This way you can still body block while moving, but also get out if the Killer is jerk bodyblocker.
For Survivor, I think Survivors should have a smaller hitbox inside their normal hitbox when it comes to collision, allowing people to slide by eachother more easily.
But Yeah, its a travesty that bHVR has not fixed this basic flaw in their movement/ hitbox system for so long.
They must be busy with alot.

There's difference between "not willing to share" and "not willing to see my willingness to share turned against me", but whatever.
If you dont wish your offerings having the chance of getting wasted on a game, you should not use them.
its not nice either when I got my first down at 3.5 gens done last night, but such is life.
-
I think bHVR has outsourced that part to the Community, but most selfmade Youtube stars are not that good. Its hit or miss, you have to watch a 24min video and then you figure out the advice is superficial its just worthless and it makes you feel bad about doing it again.
Ofc the only solution would be to do it properly myself, but its takes a lot of to do tutorials properly.
-
Yes, I agree this is a good idea. Come on bHVR.
-
Why, you can unlock this in a short while. Even if you save up bps before DLC.
Besides you only need to unlock P1. to get the lvl 3 perk on the character you want.
-
A good image for Legion would include all 4 members
Also, speaking of portraits. The Spirit is not doing the "Nyaaahh!" scream on hers, shes just low key smiling.
A note to the 3d artists who did them, Try to get as much Energy into the Killer's Images as you can.
These here are brilliant tho:
Who ever got the Deathslinger and Doctor pose ideas, is a genius. So much fun energy ooze from them.
-
You wanna skip a generator with an offering? that does not seem fair mate.
-
I cant even see what Killer it is on the picture.

The Mend idea is good. 1.5 seconds per knife if a Team mates removes them, 2.5 per knife if you remove them yourself.

-
The concerns you have would be changed once the Mori Update comes online tho.
-
Sounds like a problem with Survivor abilities using the same button, instead of a perk deserving the buff.
-
If its any higher than 3 seconds it can be abused with Head On to cause the Killer not being able to play for a long time.
DS being 3 seconds prevents abuse, simple as.

the 4% usage rate says different the fact Nerf ds is a meme now shows how bad it is it’s laughably and it wasn’t nerfed because it’s synergy with head on it was down to pick rate
Ok and with 125 Survivor Perks, if all Perks were equal in strength the pick rate should be average 1.25% which means DS is still being picked 3.2 times more than the average. This means it has a pretty good pick rate for the amount of perks there are.
Idk why bHVR has said in their posts about the reasons for DS, but I recall a few posts about the stun length being abused.
I doubt pick rate was the sole reason for all the changes to DS.
-
Its reward is also getting free out of a grab and starts a new chase, that can easily cost the killer 30 seconds when pallets are used.
+ the reduction in stun duration was because people abused it together with Head on the stun the Killer for many seconds.
DS is still a good perk and I uses it often as a contingency against tunneling. The nerf hardly changed the Survivability.
-
They should also change it so the Perk does not block the Doctor's Power.

No one is saying that killer powers are a problem here though… it might be that some struggle with certain ones but overall it’s more akin imo to being sick of having to play the game the same way and certain killers becoming over saturated. Using cosmetics to blend in is NOT a problem anyway. Survivors don’t have any real defense mechanisms outside of the occasional stun or blind. Hiding from the killer is a strategy and camouflaging is a legitimate way to do so and even then it can still be countered effectively.
in the same way you dont think cosmetic hiding is a problem, I can say I dont think killer repeating is a problem.
It IS after all legal to play the same Killer again and again. Killer repeats is a legitimate way to play and even then it can still be countered effectively.
Also, now that I think about it, idd like to ban some Survivors cause they scream really loudly too. My ears hurt.
