Well I understand killers should be faster that’s not the point the game shouldn’t revolve around the bad killers they should git gud

Not really, saying "git gud" is what /darksouls redditors use as an excuse to avoid helping an individual.

In terms to a company strategy, if bHVR came out with a blogpost saying "Ah well Killers are complaining, but they just need to get good" more than once people would leave this game pretty fast. Maybe Mandy if she comes by and reads our musings here, she is community manager and she knows how to listen and take the feedback, she also knows what a good community strategy is unlike /dark souls redditors who have no relation to anything and does not have a goal of maintaining a video game.

To your response of "there is no objective reason given why your playstyle should be causing more ranking other than you say so, and that isn't a good reason to do it." The reason you earned more ranking isn't because "I said so" but because that player did more in general than a player who stood still by a hooked survivor all match. Pro-active playstyles reward more than inactive ones. If you think a player who stood in front of a hooked survivor with An instadown killer and forced people to death and closed a total of 4 chases for 4 kills should rank up more than a Killer who managed to close 12 chases and get 4 kills is a problem. The killer who closed 4 chases closed 66% less chases than the other player who closed 12 in the same amount of time. They receive the same amount of MMR even though one player was able to close only 1/3rd of the chases of the other player in the same amount of time. That is by definition a more skillful player and not  arbitary whims of judgemental people who say who is good and who is bad as you put it.

Yeah, you favouring active playstyles isn't objective either. You don't seem to understand you cant make a subjective reason objective by favouring it or judging by it. Its just normal bias.

Well seeing how killers have a faster base movement speed and bloodlust a 3% would only effect bad killer players and the endurance can be reduced or removed I don’t really care but something that makes MFT great is that motive to actually learn to loop

Yes ofc the Killers are faster, they are playing 1 vs 4. if you have a problem with that, you have a problem with some of the oldest structures of the game. And yes, bad Killer players are part of the community too. You cant just add a perk that invalidates a demographic man.

will prefer to blame me for not playing the Killer correctly? I know you like doing that.

you read me like a book

If nurse is a problem, nerf the nurse.

my point was to say that just because A gets nerfed and B benefits from that, does not mean that B gets buffed.

I didn't ignore the label system. The label system just didn't say you are going to lose 20 matches. How's that my fault?

i already said it, if you read the label and did not ignore it, its not you fault. I just think you dont have the right to complain about a killer being hard to learn, when you knew this killer is hard to learn.

Some people might suggest that playing the Killer who is weak after every Survivor already learned how to play against them is not a good idea for invoking a feeling of good gameplay.

i think 12 hours is enough time for over 50% of survivors to learn how to use the EMP some what effectively

Also, look up game design for what player onboarding means if you don't get the point of the last one.

i will just not do that and pretend it was never even broth up, because i strongly believe that this i highly based in subjective opinions

I think I found your main issue.

    image.png

At least its refreshing you admit it. 😆

I just think you dont have the right to complain about a killer being hard to learn, when you knew this killer is hard to learn.

I bought the Killer on Steam, didn't say anything about that on there. Either way, Customers always have the right to complain.

Even if your belief was true, I would still complain if I was not satisfied and bHVR wants my feedback.

i think 12 hours is enough time for over 50% of survivors to learn how to use the EMP some what effectively

Even if that was true, how many Survivors do you think knows how to play against the Killer after 5 days?

I can tell you, everyone I played against today knew it VERY WELL.

It tells me a a lot when you admit you don't know what player onboarding is.

ok so but it’s less than bloodlust so it’s not like it completely nullifies it and killers are still faster than survivors even with MFT alone without other haste stacks but I feel that’s the only real issue with MFT is how easily it can stack with other haste perks so just removing the haste stacks should be sufficient enough

What you mean, its 2% less than bloodlust 1 which means to you its fine to have it be activated after 0 seconds?

I think you are just scrambling for an excuse now, that sounds so unreasonable as an argument.

And Yes, I agree the stacking could be a problem even so the perk would still be solid without the endurance effect.

So I would like to ask you the same question you presented. What makes you think the camp/tunnel/slug playstyle is more valid than the one that is in the proposed MMR rework? It's not about which playstyle is more valid. It's about what would be best for the game's health.

The other thing I'd like to respond to is that if you wish to play in a camp/tunnel/slug playstyle you surely can. You just won't be as rewarded as the killer who played for 12 individual hooks. The player who played for more hooks ranked up more. Simple as that.

So I would like to ask you the same question you presented. What makes you think the camp/tunnel/slug playstyle is more valid than the one that is in the proposed MMR rework? It's not about which playstyle is more valid. It's about what would be best for the game's health.

I don't make the distinction that any playstyle is more valid than others. I know what the rules of the game are and I know the outcomes and I know the types of play that can happen, but I don't make a judgement on which ones makes you a jerk or not.

What is best for the Game's Health is determined by the Rules of the Game, not the MMR system or arbitary whims of judgemental people who say who is good and who is bad.

Aha, there is no objective reason given why your playstyle should be causing more ranking other than you say so, and that isn't a good reason to do it. This is probably why bHVR went simple and said, Killers must Kill & Survivors must Survive, and all that does matter is that it happens according to the game's rules-

    Does this answer your questions?

Nerfing EMP is a buff to Singluarity. No other Killer is using EMPs. Think about it.

nerfing made for this is a nurse buff. No other killer is this slow. Think about it.

And when I trust the label system but its still unreliable Im guessing that's my fault too.

if you follow the label and its not true, thats not your fault

but if you ignore the lable and then complain then its your fault, is that so hard to understand?

Did you play Singularity on release date or soon after? I just started playing him last night.

does that make a difference? i played him for 5 matches and got only 4ks after the first mach.

but ok, just for your information i played him ca 12 hours after release.

But thats my fault because I have a job

glad for you, i have a job too

Wrong, bHVR's systems for onboarding new Killers is just atrocious. Simple as.

i dont get this point at all, please elaborate

    1. If nurse is a problem, nerf the nurse.
    2. I didn't ignore the label system. The label system just didn't say you are going to lose 20 matches. How's that my fault?

    image.png

Some people might suggest that playing the Killer who is weak after every Survivor already learned how to play against them is not a good idea for invoking a feeling of good gameplay. Does that suggestion not at all seem somewhat reasonable to you?

or are you just blank on this and will prefer to blame me for not playing the Killer correctly? I know you like doing that.

Also, look up game design for what player onboarding means if you don't get the point of the last one.

  • @Seal_Massacre said:

    • @Emeal What makes your system of what good skill is more valid than others? Simple. Being able to 4k with 10+ hooks without camping and tunneling is much harder than Getting a 4k with 0-4 Hooks. It's literal statistics.
    • What about players that express skills in different ways than you? what choice do they have? Also Simple. Expressing yourself by making yourself look like a jerk and taking someone out of the game at 5 gens to take the easy way out just isn't fun no skillful. Especially if you find the weak link at the start of the match. Literally anyone can do that. If I did that I'd win 95% of my matches. Think BHVR wants that? Slapping on 4 slowdowns and focusing one survivor and one survivor out of the match is not skill whatsoever. It's expressing that you're just a jerk that had a rough day that needs to ruin it for someone else that just wants to play the game to relax after a hard day's work. People don't just play DBD. Not everyone needs to win every single match. Too much RNG in the match to make that possible. Also love that BHVR is actually doing some map balance changes.

    You keep doing it mate.

Your question was, "What makes your system of what good skill is more valid than others?"

Simple. Being able to 4k with 10+ hooks without camping and tunneling is much harder than Getting a 4k with 0-4 Hooks

You ending the game as a certain score has no bearing on why that would make it better. If you want to say more hooks = better than you need to argue that point. So far all I have been told from what you said, is that you just assume you are correct without argument or proof, which is just not rational.

Your second answer is just calling people who don't play like you a jerk. This is the most barebones argument in a while.

Well the perk is only good if a survivor knows what they’re doing it’s not like you’re just guaranteed to escape a chase just because of MFT it’s knowing how to counter loops and out predicting each other and again bloodlust 1 alone gives 5% haste and that’s basekit and stacks

And if MFT activated after 15 seconds like Bloodlust, I would feel about it the same way. But it does not.

That's a good idea, but it isn't fair Survivors have broken perks and I have to start from scratch on a Killer.

not everything has to be fair right away, the killer gets buffed, the perks get nerfed

Those labels are beyond meaningless, not a proper estimation of the experience playing them and they don't get you an indication anyway, because as we can see Singularity is already getting buffed. How can it take time to learn and play the killer properly when the decide that is the wrong way to do it 3 days after release.?

if you ignore those labels thats your problem.

and he does not get buffed, the EMP gets nerfed. This does not change his playstyle it just makes it more viable. So if you cant play him now, you will not be able to play him after his "buff".

The Killer specific mmr does not change fast enough, that is the issue. If you tell me in order to get a good experience playing the killer I have to lose 20 games. That would be insanity.

if you need this many games thats your problem. I made three 4ks in a row after my first game with him. I learned him in two matches.

No, why am I going up against Survivors who know how to EMP anything and everything I do in my third game of Singularity.

because holding down a button is easier to learn than a whole new killer.

not everything has to be fair right away, the killer gets buffed, the perks get nerfed

I'm sorry? we need to hold bHVR accountable for their balance decisions. maybe they could learn from the way they treat Killers right now, but releasing them weak and then buffing them.

i meant just because survivors get strong perks, does not mean that you get a strong killer

That is just a bad game experience and bHVR really needs to take care of their new player Experience.

new player experience? there are labels showing you how hard it is to play the killer. If a killer is hard to play, "new player" is not an argument. It takes time to learn the killer and play him properly.

I expect bHVR to have some sensitivity to me as I learn the new Killer, it certainly isnt fun to play against the best anti-singularity players and as a game it certainly should try to provide a good time.

the survivors are literally just pushing a button, there is no learning curve. As the killer you can get better over time.

That would be preferable to the current experience.

For you and me as killer, but not for survivors

Interestingly this argument is very unconvincing when Survivors have broken perks too.

did your parents never taught you that you dont get something just because everyone else has it?

I dont expect this, but I do expect proper matching of skill to survivors as I build up my skill.

thats not an argument, survivors play the same, only slightly different play-styles with perks. With a new killer you have a complete overhaul of the gameplay, expecting the same learning curve for both is just naive.

I understand that completely, and that is literally why I am speaking up to contest it. There is a difference between those two things, and it is meaningful, because Singularity doesn't need giant overhauls. He just needs the EMPs tuned down, because he isn't completely unplayable.

Sure you can be a "technically" contrarian if you want, but it means very little cause all you can do is present me with your opinion on the Killer and I doubt the majority of our will be fine with the Singularity after patch this next week.

But if they are, I guess I owe you a cold beer.

sound like a you problem and not like a singularity problem. I had a lot of fun while playing him.

Being in "too weak" to "unplayable" isn't a good middle ground to be in, your nuance does not matter even in the slightest, the result is loads of bad games.

I think it is, do you think it would be better if he started super strong?

Slowly building a killer up from the bottom is way better than starting with a broken killer, in my opinion.

How can you expect to have full control and mastery over a killer that is not even a month old?

I didn't say it was. In fact, I outright said the opposite- EMPs are overtuned. That's a problem, and it's preventing Singularity from being in a good spot. I was mainly responding to the idea that he is unplayable, and then to Seraphor who had another issue that I disagreed with.

As for you not having fun, that's subjective. I am having fun with him, and that's also subjective.

You don't seem to understand "too weak" and "unplayable" is used interchangeably on these forum.

Being too weak, but not technically unplayable is not meaningful in any way.

  • @jesterkind said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3457489#Comment_3457489

See my above reply, then. Singularity isn't so weak that he doesn't have a power, he isn't unplayable, he's just... too weak. That middle ground does exist.

Being in "too weak" to "unplayable" isn't a good middle ground to be in, your nuance does not matter even in the slightest, the result is loads of bad games. Sadako is a weak Killer but even her you can play and have fun. I'm not having fun at all with Singularity.

  • @jesterkind said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3457474#Comment_3457474

    What?

The thread isn't correct to posit that the Singularity is, as they put it, "hot trash". There's obviously a middle ground between "hot trash" and "perfectly balanced".

And, after EMPs are nerfed... yes? He will be in a pretty good spot? He's already fun, it's just that EMPs are overtuned. So, yes, once EMPs are tuned down, he'll be a great killer.

I don't mean to be aggressive or anything, but I'm struggling to understand where you're coming from.

Im coming from the point that I spent money on a Killer that has no power right now, Survivors are WAY too coordinated with EMPs right now and they can do so much against me and I cant do anything. So Im here to voice my concerns.

  • @jesterkind said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3457455#Comment_3457455

...Sorry, are you under the impression that I think EMPs are fine? You'd do well to double check what I'm writing, if that's the case.

Having a second and third available is the problem, not the first. The effect itself is fine, if you play Singularity aggressively, because it doesn't lock you out of your power- it makes you adjust your angle.

That's clear then the thread of correct to posit that Singularity is bad and that slight nerfs to emps wont help much.

    You said

    EMPs are a little overtuned,

so once the emps have been tuned down, he is the perfect killer to play then?

  • @jesterkind said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3457440#Comment_3457440

Which is why it's relevant that you aren't. A pod being EMP'd can be replaced immediately at no cost, as long as you're near it.

Except the survivor carried a EMP and now my second one is gone and they have run to a different tile and picked up another emp.

what then my guy`? when does the Killer actually become bad then? what's the definition of bad here?

  • @jesterkind said:

I disagree, actually. EMPs are a little overtuned, but having played a bit more of him by now, I've realised it's more of an annoyance than truly rendering him unplayable.

They can get rid of your pods quickly, but the thing I initially didn't quite get was that you can replace them even quicker. He functions best when played aggressively, not as a setup killer - which is a shame because I love setup killers, but oh well.

You also want to put the pods pretty high up where possible, so it looks over loops in their entirety.

for beginning to play a new Killer, you dont want users completely signed out of their power.

  • @Seal_Massacre said:

@Emeal Staying by the hook. Not moving and waiting for an unhook which survivors have to do. Yup. You're right. Sure beats wanting to find and chase survivors and spread pressure. A lot of the times if you do that multiple survivors will have to come for the save making your job easier than a cashier at a Walmart.

You are dodging questions at a rate that makes you have prospects for a career in politics. But an effective evangelist for a new mmr system that does not make, its easy when you are not required to answer any concerns. Your replies are unclear if anything.

    I asked you to address:

    • What makes your system of what good skill is more valid than others?
    • What about players that express skills in different ways than you? what choice do they have?

Im trying my best to make that clear to you now, and "Face-camping is bad" is not a response to any of those

Also trash talking Walmart employees in responses on a videogame forum??? even as a quip that is just weird.

  • @Seal_Massacre said:

@Emeal Forcing hook stages is easy to do. Especially instadown killers or huntress or even Trickster or anyone running STBFL. Some scenarios require it. I get that. Mainly if everyone is injured or around the hook. But if you're just facecamping every hook to second, sorry to tell you but you're not good in anyone's book besides your own.

Your response don't address much. You skirt around the part of my response that says you have no place pretending what is good or bad skill and that instead of forcing players into arbitrary playstyle boxes, leaving the nature of play and skill up to the individual is better cause it does not enforce a particular player as the correct one.

That is probably why bHVR settled on their system, its the simplest and most nonjudgemental.

  • I haven't escaped for an entire week.

Sometimes I wish bHVR could check in on if claims people make like this is true, like come-on people who lose 100% of their matches has to be EXTREMELY small. aint possible.

Have you considered taking a break?

  • Next up Sacrifice. The most important one. 12 hooks (3 individual hooks on each survivor) is a perfect game. Accomplishing this is would make you get the most amount of points in this category. Let’s say you get 2 points per individual hook. Which would make for a total of 24 points in this category. In order for you to get points for a hook stage due to another survivor not saving them would only require you to be more than 24m away from the hook when they go to 2nd chase or death. This would prevent camping and securing stages because I know that’s an issue currently. Everyone does. If you hook every survivor at least once you’d get another 2 points if you hook everyone at least twice that’s additional 2 points. That would help with the tunneling issue if you wanted to increase your MMR to the max. This would encourage to go after everybody in the trial. It wouldn’t solve camping and tunneling 100% but I think having the mindset to get a ton of hooks and chases with different survivors would make it fun for everyone in the trail.

Except it isnt, its a perfect valid strategy to force hook stages. Who are you to say that does not require skill? Nobody I ever heard.

It isnt exactly easy to master spatial awareness to make sure you can keep a person from being unhooked or get a trade. Luckily bHVR isn't so sour grapes with what strategies are skilled or not, they keep things open and let us express our different skills. The reason bHVR reduced their mmr system down is because they are open to how players make a choice to play and express themselves, unlike your system which forces a certain playstyle to uphold as the "objective" good one.

Except its not objective and it just alienate others types of players. No thanks.

  • bHVR I dont understand why this Perk which is a PERFECT perk for Greedy Playstyles also need to have endurance effect on it?

    Sorry, that's not happening.

  • numbers on Steam only didn't go up as high as last year, only 3000 fewer than last year on steam only.

idk if I'd call that "the number of active players barely went up."

Also we only went up like 10 000 players from our normal on steam.

I don't see how this makes you reach your conclusion either:

but it's the culmination of multiple unfair and bad nerfs to survivors that has left 50% of this game's content drier than the Sahara.

    and on another quote:

Something drastic has to change, something that will be forged in the Killers' tears, a destructive nerf/nerfs to Blight and Nurse to light the path, for starter.

"something that will be forged in the Killers' tears"

Did the Clown Face-camp you or something? That's rather mean towards our Killer playerbase imo. Please chill.

Don't really care about that, just let me disable that profanity filter...

Some players are toxic, nothing new. If you can't take it, don't use it.

No need to ban players(their right to chat) just so you don't have to deal with it.

Yeah, I'm kind of hoping bHVR desires a better world too, than the status quo you are fine staying in, with this post.

  • The problem is if we don't treat them all the same, then it becomes exploitable.

This is actually a really good solution.

But actually I wish the game would detect crashes or internet disconnection still, just so you could display a message on their screen saying something like:

"We have detected the game was not properly shut down during a trial, Please make sure your system and internet connection is in working order. Continued Abnormal disconnection from trial incurs a penalty."

I have heard stories of 100s of players who say they didn't know disconnecting trials gave a penalty, and I wish at least DBD to be upfront about this.

pyramid head was able to down you and your savior after unhook directly

So in your logic this is a completely healthy thing and should be preserved and not changed

Is Pyramid Head or Deathslinger overperforming? no

  • Are you arguing you should still be able to run away even tho he speared you?

  • Please don't add another half second to Head On, its already annoying enough for SWFs. They don't need .5 second more.

While I do think totems like that are a problem, it is worth remembering that hidden totems aren't always a benefit to the killer anymore.

Both sides have totem-related perks now, and a hidden, out of the way boon can be less than ideal for the killer. A middle ground between genuinely hidden totems (like that insane one on Lery's) and obvious ones like your screenshot example would be best.

Totems not being hidden at all is the reason I dont want to run Hex Perks.

Why would I run a perk that can be found so easily? Its a waste of my time.

  • if you remove depipping, there is no consequence from loosing.

People could easily sabotage the game and it would not matter to them.

  • We CAN, but idk if we will.

But Parasite Eve is a classic, its like the Pinhead of Classic Horror/Survival Videogames.

    An instant classic.

  • Bloodlust is a big reason as to why under powered M1 killers aren't looked at

it was just an example. And clearly if there are that many motion sick players then they didnt research that deeply. I wouldn't either, I'd just look at the reviews and think it seems cool. Unless theres some wacky shenanigans going on, I'd imagine most first person games that are just walking around and sometimes falling (like a typical shooter or something like re7) dont cause much motion sickness for the majority. Unless its something like portal then I wouldn't really give it that much thought. And even if that were the case and everyone did research super deeply and choose not to purchase, then why should they be locked from buying a game they want because the devs haven't accommodated their needs? In that case, it would be way better from a business standpoint as well.

I guess you are used to thinking a lot less about what games you buy than me. So how is this bHVR's fault again?

I don't really get your point here. People should investigate before purchasing about... whether or not the fov makes them feel sick when playing, which is an issue only they'll figure out is an issue if they start playing after buying?

you can't just scout out fov motion sickness that easily from yt videos. and even if you could, like the other guy said "why should they be locked from buying a game they want because the devs haven't accommodated their needs?" locking people out of a game because you can't play a few matches without becoming motion sick unless you enjoy wasting a perk slot is utter BS. i'd argue their argument, although it could be worded better, is fairly sound and a good point. keeping the fov so low (especially with no slider) is a bad marketing decision and they're clutching onto dumb beliefs that it's a huge balancing concern when all they're doing is frustrating people because they fail to meet basic accessibility requirements

The point is, its unreasonable for a Game Developer to develop a game and having foreseen and then warned you about whatever issue you have, even if you are used to not thinking about the problems you have. That isn't bHVR's fault, that is your own problem, and its the pinning of blame I objected to.

As I see it a Game Developer is free to set the game how they see fit and they are free to accommodate users too on changing it.

That means its also up to you to research a game before you buy it, especially if I had a thing where I would be dizzy from a specific angle of FOV. If I had that I would make sure the games I picked had those options and I would not throw a fit at the developer when they have no moral or legal obligation to do so.

So maybe we can be more reasonable, Chill with the Blame games and ask for FOV options when bHVR asks us for feedback.

    Just a thought.

Survivors don’t need a compensation buff for a killer FoV slider, because killers got zero compensation buffs for the Survivor HUD.

It’s bad enough that we have a roadmap going out for the next year, and there’s zero announced killer-only things to look forward to. Killers should be able to get new features, without survivors getting something favorable for them.

Im sure some survivors would say, they need that too or they get dizzy and sick.

  • I don't think you can pin the fault of being a motion sick prone person buying the game and then not investigating the game first before purchasing, even more so. Morally or Legally. There is plenty of gameplay material for you to have checked. I understand you want POV to be handled better, me too, but don't try to guilt trip the Developers.

I don't want bHVR to associate the idea of POV options with such a bad argument.

  • bHVR could fix this problem by allowing ghosts to spawn inside of Knight if there is no space to spawn them.

I dont understand how bHVR just signed off on Knight, when anyone who plays him regularly can feel the ghost placement being REALLY annoying. If bHVR decides to make gameplay smoother for knight, this has to be top priotity.

  • Well, bHVR needs to take these in small steps. If a fix to Face-Camping makes it too hard to play for some people they will quit.

But Only-Face-Campers are not the only type of Killer, and why yes Ill tunnel and Face camp if I think its my best option, most of my games usually don't end up with me sitting still in front of a hook, in fact ill be bored out of my head before I Face-Camp.

Should it be that Anti-Face-Camping discourages people from playing Killer or Killrate then changes can be made and only then.

  • You do know casuals tunnel too, right? RIGHT=?

its supposed to stop face camping why should the killer get rewarded for playing like a prick

Hook grabs are not only created due to face Camping.

You could maybe get full down if you are lucky. But most of the times it's pointless waste of time.

Group of survivors can deny it easily and single survivor will have to fake unhooking till you hit him. It's dumb counterplay, exactly same as DH.

BTW full down is better than two hits? How that works?

full down is better than two hits? How that works?

    its faster and cheaper

You would still be able to trade 1 for 1. Hit before and after unhooking.

Yeah, but thats still worse than now, where I could get a full down.

  • Why would they allow Survivors to be able to unhook next to the Killer without consequence?

    How easy should Survivor be?
