  • the flaw of the system is, they are going to be tunneled off the hook anyway.

if the new anti-face-camp system teleports the killer away it would be a much better experience for Survivors.

  • I think the anti-face-camping mechanics need to be stronger, You could add a Power cooldown, but then the facecampers would just tunnel and m1them instead.

bHVR ought to make the face-camp timer cause the Killer to get teleported to the otherside of the map and then get a 10 sec cooldown. That would PROPERLY give Survivors a chance to reset, yes even for mobility killers.

See the problem is if the Killer is just outright refusing to play ball with the game, specifically tunneling one person, could be a streamer, could be a nobody. a free self-unhook isnt going to change that much, they will be tunneled off the hook right and way, and that WILL make the face-camping tunneling experience the exact same as it is now, it just does not require a survivor to unhook.

But the extra Survivor isnt the issue, Yes the rest of the team is gonna do gens and the Killer will lose the match. But you are basically hoping to still use one survivor to experience off the hook tunneling, facecamping, off the hook tunneling to some how teach the Killer to not face-camp? It wont work and its a terrible experience for that one Survivor.

If you teleported the Killer away, instead the Killer could perhaps learn to play the game instead of us accepting that the Killer made the choice to face-camp. Your community obviously want to not be USED and have to experience a game where they dont do much, that is why a anti-face-camping mechanic MUST teleport the Killer away + 10s powercooldown, give them time to reset, give them a chance to hide and also give the facecamper a chance to learn by forcing them away.

I may sound pretty radical killermain here, but there is no doubt in my mind that the antifacecamp meter + teleporting the Killer away is the best solution to ensure the quality of match for both the facecamped survivor and in time the face camping Killer.

I beg of you bHVR try it and give the community a chance to try it too. pls pls pls

The anti-camping solution seems like a step in the right direction, but it doesn't even remotely affect the Killer that dominates the camping meta in the first place: Cannibal.

Why? Because The Cannibal has a little ability to simply continue swinging his chainsaw after hitting the Survivor off of the hook. So he'll still be camping, just with an extra step.

But what can be done to fix this? Well, this is an absolutely necessary change:

    • The Cannibal will now automatically go into chainsaw sweep cooldown upon hitting a Survivor affected by the Endurance status effect.

This change would allow Cannibal to have his strengths, but now actually makes it so that his camping prowess with the new mechanic is not as good as it will be. He'll need to actually take a lot more time to chase you than simply sweeping his chainsaw and tearing through your health states after unhooking.

This change would just force the Bubba to m1 tunnel the hooked Survivor off from hook.

If we are truly going anti-face-camping,

then we ought to force the Killer to teleport to the other side of the map and get a 10 second power cooldown.

It would give Survivors time to unhook, heal, hide and reset so even if the Killer is determined to tunnel and facecamp one guy, the Survivors will be given adequate time to do so.

Honestly I don't get why nobody else can see, more tunneling is what's gonna happen here, I may be pessimistic, but I have played this game for 6000hours and bHVR think this will be adequate? No, that is wrong, how could I be adequate.

Teleporting the Killer away could even be supported by the entity, because how is it going to get fed in a good way if the Survivor is squeezed dry in such a way, indeed facecamping is one of the biggest reasons Survivors quit.

My oh My, Im going to be SO disappointed with the mildest solutions to try to fix face camping here. Come on BHVR.

Do I have to face-camp more to show you why you ought to attack face-camping stronger?? Please-

  • even with tunneling Survivors still escape, or else all the Killer's killrates would be 90% right now, which they are not or bHVR would have done something-

Problem is, that in most of the games - you don't have to carefully look around. You see the killer. You know where the killer is. And it's somewhere around the hook (a little less likely - within 3m of hooked person). The killer will stay there. You can't safely unhook. You can do gens for some time, but then you need to trade (also you can't do gens that are in proximity of hook, because killer harasses them - so long as he can make it back to hook quickly - for unhooked survivor to have 0 chance to get away and heal).

Right and I do think its bad the Killer can do that, but there must be a middle ground of completely making pressence pressure from the Killer impossible OR allowing face camping.

I think bHVR should gamify face-camping, by allowing Survivors to do something together that might be a useful tool against face camping, instead of something automatic and fake that holds the hand over them.

  • Yeah, bHVR dust off that tech you spent so much time developing, see if you cant make it work anyway.

I look at the game from both perspectives, 4 years in a row i have been a killer main more than playing the survivor role, but this past year, i have had people wanting to do some swf games, so i got to experience survivor a lot more than what I usually play, I understand what killers need to do and the stress some too don’t get me wrong.

When I play Killer, i like going for a 12 hook game because it’s more fun that way, that’s just my play style, and yes I understand there a lot of times where killers can’t afford to go for 12 hook, whether if it’s slugging, camping, tunneling, and go for a 3 gen strat, which sometimes probably doesn’t work out the way you want it to, but if you can go for these plays and succeed, then that’s good.

The point I was trying to make was eliminating the unfun tactics this game has, camping and tunneling are 2 of them, while yes when I’m playing survivor, I don’t give a rats ass if it’s happening to me or not, as a matter of fact, if I’m getting camped or tunneled and the killer still manages to get a 3 or 4k, i get mad at my teammates for going for altruistic plays instead of finishing the damn gens and getting the hell out.

Obviously there are some stuff here and there survivors have that could use some nerfs or reworks, which in today’s time, there aren’t that many stuff left survivors have that’s annoying and unfun to go against, not saying they don’t have any, but there are some just not as many, but that’s a different topic though.

Point being, camping and tunneling is an unfun strat whether if there is counter play or not, and some killers, not much of them you can counter it (sometimes trickster, leatherface, hillbilly, sometimes myers).

And I’m not saying completely do away with camping and tunneling because sometimes it does need to be done, I’m just suggesting to heavily reduce it to where survivors have a higher chance of avoiding it so that way they have a chance of doing more stuff in the game.

you are not "heavily reducing it" you are making it impossible, and you are also buffing survivors way too much to a point where they dont have to think about anything before unhooking.

  • @Mandy said:

I think putting that on the endgame that Elodie did x amount of seconds on a gen, Mikaela did x amount of seconds on a gen - will lead to even more problems and arguments. There will be the inevitable complaints from people in endgame chat blaming someone else for the loss. I think I'd rather have less things like that happening rather than more.

We have the in-game survivor hud which shows who's doing what at any given time - doesn't show if they're hiding cos they're near the killer or anything like that sure, but it also doesn't need to.

Could bHVR consider adding stats for yourself, like the player playing? idd like to know for instance:

    • How long I lasted in a chase, for me to determine the value of a chase related perk.
    • or how many seconds, my use of items/perks shaved off from me doing my actions during the match

There can be many things I am interested in knowing when Im looking at my perks, is this valuable? do I feel this is helpful? If I could see a number I could go like, wow 10 seconds, good value or wow 5 seconds, trash perk.

If the game showed me those stats privately it would be very nice for me when I consider the perks you offer us.

With camping solution - I can agree to a degree (there's still too much lack of an information for this to be effective / to work, if you are not SWF that is).

For tunneling - your case is absolutely right. However I think it's not the main issue people have. A lot of killers camp into tunnel or proxy-camp into tunnel. If this is the case, it's impossible to rescue when killer is not nearby (because he will be there until entity claims said survivor). In this (common) case (especially proxy-camp scenario), all the problems associated with it are just there and they just can't be circumvented.

With camping solution - I can agree to a degree (there's still too much lack of an information for this to be effective / to work, if you are not SWF that is).

In the past game sense would carry this for us.

I remember the times, I approached the hook carefully, looked out where the Killer was and then unhooked. Thanks to the new HUD stuff I can now see when someone is being chased, which means I know when its safe. yet despite this people will pull people off anyway. I dont think the reason is lack of information, I think the reason is that base BT people think will save the unhooked. It wont, base BT only works with face-camping, for tunneling? nah I can wait it out easy.

Honestly bHVR need to tweak the basekit BT to make it work better

  • Camping would not be a problem if Survivors did Gens in response.

Tunneling would not be an issue if Survivors didnt pull the Survivor off the hook near the Killer.

Why are we nerfing Killers ability to apply pressure to a rescue because Survivors don't bother to properly counter play?

Seems like the only gameplay you want Killers to have is to chase and chase, there apparently should be no thinking about keeping Survivors from unhooking. You are removing Killer's choice in regards on what they can do, Why should the Killer role be made more boring because its possible for the Killer to use their power of speed and positioning???

If you think its too hard for Survivors to even rescue, then make a case to bhvr for them to ensure proper fun counter play for survivors instead of limiting the playstyles of what a Killer can do.

  • What achievements are you having trouble with?

    1. Their look. The 80's animated style would not fit in DBD. And they would not look right modeled more realistic.
    2. No one would want to kill Scooby.
    3. None of their villains were bloodthirsty. Most just wanted to scare everyone away to make money.
    4. The show was never adult horror. It was a comedy/mystery show. So the entire theme is different.

There's four things off the top of my head.

you respond with 2. yet I just addressed that in the comment you replied to earlier. what even mate?

    1. Yes, they will be stylized, just like every other franchise who joined.

It's been 6 years and more and the survivors haven't learned that yet

I just don't see how that is my problem as a Killer. if they want to try dumb ideas, ill be happy to teach them the reality of the situation.

    Then you use it wrong.

"Scooby doo would be such a nice fit for this Game, but only if the Licence holder wants to do a more adult angle with bHVR ofc."

Literally nothing about Scooby Doo fits in DBD.

Name one thing that could not get fitted?

  • I thought I remembered you posting about this elsewhere, Is this post just a repeat or continuation of this post by you? Because bHVR thinks PWYF is too strong with Knight's Guards you are here to try and get them to apply it to all Killers? That isn't how balance works and the poster is correct its called special attack for a reason.

  • Nobody likes to hear a Dog in pain and I doubt bHVR would want that. So if they want to add SCOOBY DOO, here is an idea:

Basically the Scooby Doo Survivor has an NPC Scooby Dog that runs around and follows them. In the interest of Server Load, Only one NPC per game and that NPC would follow any SCOOBY DOO related Survivor. Scooby would always be faster than the Killer, so chasing Scooby would be impossible for Killers. And the NPC Scooby Dog just follows a SCOOBY DOO Survivor around, maybe he says stuff.

Would this not just make Scooby able to reveal your location to the Killer? Yes. Gooooooood Luck with it.

Also, bHVR IS REQUIRED to get the running animation right in order with the old Cartoon, This is a must.

    Untitled Image

Scooby doo would be such a nice fit for this Game, but only if the Licence holder wants to do a more adult angle with bHVR ofc.

  • How about we don't destroy a perfectly good Killer that is enjoyed by many because you are mad about the Camping?

Bubba is clearly good at Camping, his power makes unsafe saves into disasters for Survivors, Yes, so instead of nerfing Bubba, how about we make sure Survivors understand what they can and cannot do. This is actually the only reason the Bubba can successfully facecamp, = Survivors who dont know what they can get away with and not.

Any Bubba who knows how to play, You cant do a save next to them, so you would think Survivors would stop trying. But they don't.

The most effective way to de-incentivize the camping is Survivors learning to not try the bad strategies against a Bubba.

Just do gens, Use reassurance and the face-camped Survivor needs to take it on the chin for the team.

But what happens is 1 to 2 Survivors will sit in a Bush waiting for Bubba

Survivors wont use Reassurance, cause "come on I need Unbreakable instead lol"

and the Face-camped Survivor will self sacrifice themselves as fast as possible because they don't care to counter play.

This is why we always get anti-camp suggestions on these forums, cause people cant be bothered to take it seriously and fight it.

That isnt the Killer's fault or bHVR's design of the Killer fault tho, that's all working as intended.

If all survivors suddenly stopped wanting to get chased and just didnt move, that would not be reason to nerf Killers. That is what is happening, its Survivors who cant be asked to counterplay it. Its like some people have it in their mind that tunneling and camping should not be able to exist and they need bHVR to step in and play the game for them. To this, I say No Thanks man.

  • That's the spirit I like to see on these forums, but bHVR would have 1 problem doing this.

    1. The skins dont have extra perks. And bHVR would not like to feel bad about that.
    2. What about the people who leveled cheryl? do they then get to keep the P100 James Sunderland? or should they level again?

These are all solvable problems and maybe if bHVR would have more interjections we could solve them for bHVR too.

This isnt as much about bHVR being greedy, its us asking for skins of our favorite horror character. And I think bHVR should should rearrange some things to allow us to play Skins as new characters. It would serve us and bHVR well I think.

The thing is with tunneling/camping it's literally not allowing the survivor to play the game itself, it's just being singled out so you lose a pip and didn't even get to do much

Yes but that is done by the killer, Did we not all agree this could be an outcome of the game? Like I agree it isnt very interactive for the Survivor or the other Survivors. I made my suggestions here: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/373619/bhvr-should-solve-camping-and-tunneling-by-adding-counterplay-gameplay-elements-to-the-game

I just dont see in the current game, Why we should screw over a player because they are screwing over the Survivor which is part of the gameplay.

  • none other than the developers can tell me how to play,

randoms telling me to play their way might actually encourage me to tunnel more out of spite.

  • No Thanks, Survivors could stunlock you with Lockers for 8 seconds combining this with head on.

I suggest not enabling bullysquads and not punishing Killers for actually just playing the Game.

  • while im sad that you feel very unhappy about the game, I am overjoyed that DH no longer denies me an end to like a 30 second chase for another 30 seconds. No way Survivors should have a perk that makes them able to do that.

Reason your games are losing is probably because Dead Hard pushed your MMR so high and now that its more balanced, you cant compete in your MMR bracket. It sucks, but Dead Hard had to take its medicine.

  • Well Bubba's Player Skill is about knowing these special parts of the maps bHVR creates, and how to navigate them correctly with the Killer. If you reduce the Tantrum then that skill does not matter because you can catch up easily again.

And honestly, Bubba isnt overperforming generally, so is this change really needed or worth it for bHVR? I say no.

What bHVR should get from this convo is that players would enjoy some more consistency or extra care about litter on the maps so Bubba can function more properly. Getting tantrum from hitting a small corpse on the floor is the worst part of playing Bubba.

If the map team and the balance team could set on a specific Hight of where hitbox's stuff is on the ground and where bubba wont tantrum, that would be SOOO GOOD for Bubba players. But undoubtedly if bHVR took time and effort into holding their future map work over this one killer then his killrate would rise.

The only reason bHVR did something about the Bushes on Garden of Joy was because we held them to the standard, there were LOADS of threads and they listened and got around to fixing it. Does this mean, We have to do a Bubba Report on all new maps when they come out to expose the map flaws to BHVR? I mean I would do it, but perhaps the map team and the design team need to develop a bubba standard so he works fine on all maps. But loads of Killers could use such a standard, like trapper???

  • I doubt any of these would make it, Billy is absolutely the worst Killer to go against with the right player. Any changes like these you are suggesting would make them insufferable to go against again. I don't want that again.

Billy was not meant to curve its just a pleasant benefit of the Old parts of This Game, which has stuck around because his Killrate isnt too high normally. Same with Blight, not really a priority to fix what isnt broken. Yes, a Hard and Old Killer is going to be bad to control, but its unfixable with just buffs.

This is why bHVR should redesign the entire Killer with what the want the Killer to do curving included and make it actually fun for new players to learn and engage with instead of keeping the insufferable clunky killer controls.

  • I always tunnel when Survivors unhook next to me and the unhooker isnt wounded, which happens alot since basekit BT was added.

  • I try to stop Jake unhooking, He unhooks and the unhooked Dwight gets in the way or tries to bodyblock, I accidently hit Dwight.

I am now hindered for 35 seconds, Survivors tbag at the exit gates. Wow Thanks bHVR.

Im not a fan of this, it gives Survivors too much Power. Can we please stop suggesting ideas to penalize the other side for playing the game?

  • @NoHookDC said:

BT should just make the unhooked Survivor lose his hitbox for the duration/until he does any channeled actions (Healing, self-healing, doing a gen, doing a totem, saboing a hook/trapper trap/removing a Hag trap, opening a chest, etc.)

No being hit. No blocking the Killer. No progressing objectives unless you want to lose the protection.

This would just cause Survivors to run around, in front of the Killer to annoy them for the duration of their loss of hitbox. Esentially trying to bait out hits, now do this with bully squads that all use the same skin and you have a pretty hostile game to Killer.

Maybe we should look for a solution that does NOT encourage bullysquads.

  • @Archael said:

This would encourage tunneling, since once killer survivor is always counted.

Unless we changed thana values a bit, and this fourth stack and full bonus would not be as powerfull.

The idea of desperate measures counting dead players is that if killer is playing unhealthy (we can argue if tunneling is valid strategy or if it should stay in gamę, but it IS unhealthy) survs can do something and at the same time its not gamebraking bonus (thana gen speed is)

If the Killer is tunneling, Don't unhook next to them. No reason why the perk should favour Survivors in this manner, but Killers not. Both sides have equally unhealthy things they can do, at least Survivors can do gens and not unhook, Use reassurance to get even more bonus. I have nothing on a Survivor that hides all game with distortion and scratch mark reducing perks.

It would also encourage bully squad, the perk, more and more bonus for you to drag out the game and waste the Killer's time.

And 14 % healing bonus that stacks isnt strong either? imagine that on 3 survivors then permanently until the match end if someone dies, From how much investment? ONE PERK and you dont even have to do anything to get the bonus, just stand still while your allies die and then boom free bonus to help your team.

At least the Killer has to work for their bonus, so how is that balanced and fair? Protip: It isnt.

  • Then Thanatophobia should also work for Killed Survivors.

  • Punishing players for playing your game is probably the worst idea if you want to keep a healthy playerbase in the future.

Thats why i think It would be better to give Survivors proper counterplay to a Facecamp or tunneling situation, instead of telling them to "just do gens" it would be way more fun to try a daring rescue. But that would require a situation where Survivors could do something about the Killer facecamping.

My sugestion is giving survivors a tackle, which they can only use in facecamp scenario for instance.

  • Adding more variety for the survivors to do that the exit gate or from across the pallet, I bet the Killers will love this, except not.

  • Please bHVR if you put Lady D in DBD,

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make her able to pick up a dropped pallet instead of kicking it and throwing it at the Survivor.

This would function as an After Loop Ranged Attack.

ye man, its gonna be be very exciting if they add a supernatural creature from Islamic culture, like Iblis or Ifrit. they have to make him a completely different killer from the others though... imagine Iblis kicking gens and hooking people xd

You say this, but I bet the efreet could kick gens and hooks Survivors in ways that even make Pinhead impressed.

  • That would be cool to see a Middle Eastern Killer.

If you wanted an occult Killer, idd suggest an Ifrit or efreet. Its basicly an evil genie or demon genie.

But as an idea I do want to see a Chapter with a Killer from those regions of the world. They must have some scary stuff.

  • idk man, there are way more useless perks in the game than Iron Maiden.

Iron Maiden is good if you wish to rule out use of lockers for Survivors, its a deterent.

  • I could be its time for the game to allow Killers to set the POV freely within the ranges that already exist in the game.

Like from 87 to whatever the max value is if you use Shadowborn and M&A and then the use of those perks would simply not change the POV for users who already changed their POV. Ofc Shadowborn would be entirely useless ofc with a POV slider.

That could be a good compromise for now.

I just think the concept is more healthy for the game. Honestly if bhvr doesn't want to rework her i give a F*. She can stay the way she is. I just think it would be more intersting and healthy for the game, thats all.

Yeah, then you should probably go into detail about what's bad about her current design and how your solve it and how Killers/ Survivors will be more happy about your ideas?

  • Thats okay, not all Killers has to be for you, you know. Im not a fan of Blight or Billy, but I would not want them to change them if there are loads of people people enjoying them.

also, How do we get from "The Killer is obnoxious" to "Therefore we need to change the Killer right now" seems like there are some steps missing. Like your argument in this thread seems to be, Hey this killer's play style does not fit its Lore, so change it pls.

  • Please talk some more about why you think the current Skull Merchant does not cut it compared to the other Killers so the dev team can get some insight into why they should pursue these suggested changes.

Decisive strike needs a buff you can’t say 3 seconds is useful when about 2 of the seconds is getting off the killers shoulder and I am good at using dead hard lol just if I miss it and get away it shouldn’t deactivate until another hook but yeah don’t come on a forum and tell people to get better I would love to see your survivor gameplay

Getting off the Killer's Shoulder is reward enough for a perk.

  • DS when it was 5 seconds could be coupled with Head on, to chain stun the killer for 7 to 8 seconds.

I do not wish to see that again from bully squads.

DH is super strong still, it gives you a 3rd health state on command. The fact you used it at a bad opportunity is no reason to buff the perk, you just need to get better at using it. Yes it requires skill now. Good we don't need to see DH return to its previous usage rates.

  • No camping, no slugging, much harder to tunnel, no body blocks or flashlight saves on the way to the hook.

So the Killer has less threat and gameplay options and Survivors have less things to do and less gameplay around hookings/ saves.

Sorry, we need more gameplay and interactions, not less.

We need bHVR to give Survivors proper (not just perks) counter play (that isnt boring looking at a gen) to camping/tunneling. Please bHVR make it so that when a Killer Camps its the apex of a match, that things can be lost and won from it. That would be great.

  • Gotta say, Survivors are pulling their hooked Survivors off the hook, like right next to me as Killer.

    Survivors make tunneling so easy.

I understand you're aiming to make tunneling to have more counter to make the game interacting, but it would only work on SWF, I play Solo only and doubt teammates can coordinate tackle killer to save me.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3415251#Comment_3415251

I've thought of that, but the number can be changed.

To be fair, if killer is already 8 hooks and 5 Gen done, they can last hook someone (assume Gate powered only after finish sacrificing which takes time), with basekit BBQ, Killer can easily find another survivor to make chase, slug and go for the 3rd one (assume base Totem that show survivors' aura after Gates powered).

My ideas would never waste killers' time in finding survivors, ever. Keep them start new chase instantly.

I play Solo only and doubt teammates can coordinate tackle killer to save me.

I agree, soloQ could do with some work in teaching survivors when to unhook and when to not.

Like how basekit borrowed time just encourages survivors to rip the killer off the hook regardless of where the Killer is.

    its a mess right now.

  • @adaw0ng said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3414671#Comment_3414671

Those base slow downs push for the killer to be able to find the other survivors and not waste time just standing still, same as the survivors will be forced to also not advance their objective if they decide to just sit on the same gen. Everybody would have to move in order for the game to actually progress smoothly. Maybe also since gen speed was tweaked last year and might be tweaked again, something that I've never seen suggesting is making the hook stages longer with these suggested changes so in this time killers will be pushed to go find other survivors (also 4 minutes on the floor bleeding out is dumb and too rewarding, if not just take a look at how common it happens.)

It feels that sometimes perks are a band-aid for complains from the community (reassurance for camping, deadlock for gen-rushing, etc), instead of actual fun gimmicky perks, or that at least require some sort of interaction with the enemy side.

Perks are only meant to sway the game a lil from side to side I think, they are not meant to be the solution.

Which is why I hope bHVR will revisit Camping and Tunneling and consider if adding some gameplay around it would improve the mood of survivors, when these things happen.

  • reward interaction for both sides, not laziness, please.

But all your suggestions ARE not interactions, its just passive effects that take place once conditions are met.

If Camping/ Tunneling is gonna happen then bHVR needs to add proper counter play for survivors rather than asking them to go do gens. I would suggest something where a Survivor who goes for the rescue vs a face camper can do something that ofc is dangerous but resets the Killer's Power is successful and allowing survivors to do better than a trade based on skill and luck.

  • You know, You can just play relaxed and then eat like 10 losses until your mmr adjusts.

Trust me, it will be 100% than to be forced to play the opinions of non game designers.

  • How can I state that a system such as this one is really really good idea for DbD, not only for soloQ but also for QoL for Survivors.

  • I do agree that Facecamping needs better counterplay than "just do gens", bHVR needs a system to detect facecamping and then give Survivors a move to disable their power/stun the Killer. Ofc this would be dangerous for the Survivors. But that is ACTUAL counter play instead of counter non play which is what doing gens are.

I really believe in the idea that bHVR could fix the bad things about facecamping/ tunnelin with making sure Survivors have proper ingame tools to fight off those killer strategies and while it would endanger the most disliked strategies for Killers, I think Killers would enjoy the gamification of facecamping/ tunneling with counterplay to make the game run smoother and not grind to a halt for 2 players.
