The issue isnt kills, its hooks and/or hits. What killer do you main?

"Lore" wise, the entity wants you to make the survivors suffer before sacrificing them. This is why a face camping noed running bubba wont pip beyond a certain point even if they 4k every game. Gameplay wise the devs dont want you ending things to quickly to give survivors a chance to have fun and earn bps too. So if everyones dying on first hook, or youre using a killer that doesnt require you to get a lot of hits that can hurt your pip progress.

Ill give you an example, few weeks ago i was playing myers, i popped t3 about 1 minute into the match and had everyone slugged 15 secs later. The match was over. So i hooked 2 of them and let one wiggle free snd hooked the other then walked away for about 20 seconds to let them do their thing. I ended up double pipping that game and had the 4k, had i just killed them in the beginning i would have been lucky to get brutal, probably would have depipped.

Pipping is way more about hooks than kills

I don't main any one killer. I play wraith and doc more than the others though. The entire ranking system boils down to time, which is 100% controlled by survivors, hence the frustration.

The emblem systems don't punish the survivors near enough for the gen rush meta.

8 games isn't enough of a sample but a win loss of about 50% is the goal and you're not too far from it

37% win rate is a ways from 50%, but it is a small sample size. It does show the frustration on both sides. To them, only one is escaping and for me, I am over performing for a tie/loss. Also shows that the 2 escape, 2 dead balance is crap, because even with exceeding that, I am still not moving up in rank.

I'm more interested in the stats... I'm making a tier list and would like to get stats on: all killers, all maps, with all type of builds

If you want to help I'd appreciate it

But on your topic... I feel the same way but in the sense that I only want to get better with killers I don't play as more then getting into the red ranks (which I've done and don't want to)... its discourageing to do well only for the system to not give you what is rewarding enough

I can help. Im tracking survivor ranks, perks, maps, my pips, my kills, and how I got them.

I play all of the killers already.

  • @Haroharo05 said:

I think your biggest mistake is using rank and ranking up as the baseline for everything. It is just a lot more difficult to rank up as a killer IF you don't do a lot of everything, and do it well.

Ranking is pretty much the only thing there is in a competitive game. In dbd, there is no reward except ranking up. It's about proving who is better, but dbd falls in with Mario party, you can out perform the competition in every way, but in the end, the win condition isn't in your control.

  • @Rydog said:

What do your emblems look like? This is most likely the result of DBD's inscrutable and backwards scoring system.

Didn't pay attention, but I really thought I got ruthless on the 3k, got at least three silvers and a gold.

  • Just did it again, I am keeping logs. Started with 3 pips into rank 7, got a depip, a merciless, and a 3 kill brutal. Depipped on the brutal, only 3 pips in when it should be 4. I think this happens a lot, but I am the only one noticing.

  • Trapper - honing stone basekit and start with three traps.

Meyers/ghostface - ability to stalk through corn.

    Wraith - windstorm basekit

    Nurse - less cooldown

Demo - less warning of teleport.

    Excuse me whaaa-...?

If you're struggling without Ruin, you probably should not be at the rank you're currently at. If you have to resort to Forever Freddy, that's like saying you play with Iridescent Head and Infantry Belt every game and complaining how easy it is.

Actually I am supposed to be at the rank that I am, but the game decides that I should be playing against rank 1 survivors with 10 times my hours. When I play people my own rank, I do ok.

  • @Freesham said:

I think it would be nice if killers had an additional 8 degrees or so field of view added baseline. Currently without Shadowborn or M&A, my vision feels constricting, like horse blinders.

    What do you think?

How dare you suggest this? I mean, how would those poor survivors bully people if every killer sense wasn't completely crippled?

It makes perfect sense to not be able to see someone directly in front of you, or to be blinded by something you cant even see. Next thing we know, you'll want to be able to control the chase music volume, so you can actually hear where the survivors are going. That or you'll want blendettes to be visible on dark maps. Or you'll want the corn to be lower.

Good god man, we have the game balance to think of. We would need months of data and testing to test the fairness of this.

  • @PayneMacLeod said:

I loved this game when I first played it. Hours and hours. I defended both survivors side and killers side.

But I can’t play this anymore. Cheats, toxicity, SWF, bad match making.... a killer can’t do anything anymore.

Besides running in a circle because you actually found someone to chase, since they all know where you are, chasing that one person who knows all the tricks, while the other three are gen rushing the other side of the map, all a killer can do is kick a few gens and not do anything.

The game isn’t the real problem. It’s the people who want to find the easy outs. The ones who think they are skilled by cheating, or gaining an unfair advantage.

It’s really and truly heartbreaking. I really was passionate about this game. But I can’t do it anymore. There is no fun, no appeal, and no joy in it.

Cheating isn't the problem, a dev team that crippled every strong tool a killer has, then left matchmaking in shambles for 6 months is the problem.

Freddy got... nerfed? Freddy, arguably the second-best killer in the game currently?

Yes, forever Freddy got nerfed, which would be nice to have in a ruinless world.

  • @MelodramaticWraith said:

I was a killer main, but I switched to survivor. Playing as killer is so stressful. Most of the times you just have to wait until survivor makes a mistake. And if you make one or two mistakes you are probably going to lose. Almost before every game I wonder if I really want to go into the match. What if I go again vs a very good SWF and will have to sweat my ass off.

Not so long ago I switched to survivor. Playing as one is so less stressful and easier. But often times I play against killers, which only want to make the match for survivors as bad as possible. Today I played one match vs spirit, which camped Claudette on her first hook, and later every next survivor. ("Tunnel of love" included.) No one t-bagged her or anything. When 2 survs left (me and Claudette), spirit slugged her for 4k. She found me, hooked me and hit me like 5 times. Entity saw ######### was going on and gave me 4%. I went into the locker, she waited 50 seconds and later slugged me. She hooked us when we nearly bleed out and after nodding her head like 15 times. In the endgame chat we only saw "Ez".

I played many toxic games, but Dbd is the worst one. People just want to unload their negative emotions and make the match as ######### as possible for the other side.

Quit, I did and it's awesome. Been playing rocket league, I forgot what a balanced game with no bugs and solid matchmaking was like. Once mmr matchmaking comes in, I will be back, but until then, I can't take this bull ######### matchmaking.

  • @Smoker101 said:

So i took a really long break from Dbd for about 10 months, and my question is what is different and what has stayed the same?

Ruin got ruined, spirit got nerfed, Freddy got nerfed, tool boxes got nerfed, sabo got buffed, we got oni and deathslinger, maps got slightly smaller, infinites got nerfed, and vaults got ultra buffed. Matchmaking is totally screwed.

  • @Mert_MK said:

Kittychipz, Geistra, Ayrun, Umbra, Zubat, Scorpionz are the ones i like watching the most

Aryun is one of those guys that can dish it out, but not take it. He loves using the broken mechanics of this game to bully killers, but when he gets an exceptional killer that plays toxic back, he gets upset.

Plus you get players that try to emulate him. His videos are great for content, but those tactics are miserable to play against.

  • @Dabihwow said:

SO I Have to ask. How powerful is he? Not like in Dbd lore or gameplay but like in the game Silent Hill? All I know hes a judgement figure I guess.(I never played the Silent hill games) But tell me who or what is he?

He's essentially a tulpa brought to life by silent hill. He's an idea, ripped from the head of a guilty man and can only vanquished when James Sunderland confronts that guilt.

In terms of power, he's one of the most unstoppable of the dbd monsters. He literally can't be destroyed without James.

Now, if you go by the movie version, he's pretty much the embodiment of a town's darkness. Any way you slice it, he's a ridiculously tough being that lives to punish people. I'd take him in a fight over oni all day.

I've got ruthless in games I thought I'd depipped in before so, again, how are you 100% sure? Find a screenshot and I'll eat my words.

7 minute match means silver gatekeeper. Two deaths equals silver devout. Likely gold malicious and silver chaser. You need at least one iridescent to pip at red ranks, then the others at gold. He got brutal.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1323454#Comment_1323454

The devs definitely have to keep numerous things in mind. If they just straight up give killers more time by implementing an early game mechanic that slows down gen progression then they will also have to do something about camping otherwise all killers will 4k if they just facecamp first hook which is obviously not tolerable when there's no counterplay. Right now there's the "just rush gens" argument which obviously can't be said when there's an early game mechanic preventing you from fixing gens.

I'm fairly sure the devs will come up with a smart solution, though and I'm curious as to what the result will look like.

Easy fix to that and they already have the mechanic in the game. If a killer is inside a certain rage of a hooked survivor and not in a chase for say 20 seconds, the survivor will teleport away to a further hook. Just like pyramid heads cages. Cant camp if he moves around. Disable it once gens are done.

  • @Peanits said:

I do definitely agree with you on the first point; even if it's not what you personally wanted, there's other people who are excited for it. Don't ruin the fun for them, the one you want could always come later on. Most people seem to be pretty happy with Silent Hill, though.

For the latter part, though, that depends on what you mean by overpowered. Overpowered in the sense that one killer is stronger than one survivor, yes, that's totally normal. But overpowered in terms of overall balance is not good. Something being overpowered means your chances of winning are naturally higher than the other side, and that tends to make the game less fun. To give a comparison, if you give me a "Kill all the survivors" button, yes, I'd be incredibly powerful, but that's not fun to play against. This is a PvP game, after all: Both sides need to be having fun, not just one.

That said, the feedback is important, but we don't intend to make knee jerk reactions to first impressions. DCing against something you don't like is also pretty silly and won't accomplish anything. We value good constructive feedback over childish behaviour.

That's a nice line, I just wish it were true. Killer fun doesn't seem to be a priority. Swf is pretty much your definition of overpowered, yet it's still in the game. Matchmaking has been broken for how long?

I played killer a couple days ago...two rounds of huntress...mid-rank...I could only get 2 matches in an hour. And they didn't last 30 minutes each. 😂 Red rank survivor, my queue times are quick AF.

What region are you on? Even the streamers I watch have instant queues for killer and long waits for survivor.

  • @LALYTHIA said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1323937#Comment_1323937

This must be a platform difference, because as survivor my queue time is about 60 seconds...as Killer my queue time is about 15 minutes on PC.

Its completely unbelievable that someone would say survivors always escape (or that they personally always escape) and Killers just get stomped by survivors who have it totally easy....when kill rates in this game tell a very different story - especially in red ranks.

I'm not saying it never happens that a survivor has a good win streak and as killer has a bad streak...but this is not the reality of the overall game right now. Its just not. 🤷

I'm on pc, rank 5-8 killer and my queues are roughly 10 seconds, unless something has changed in the last week.

  • @Akito said:

So your point is that you agree that nurse is actually hard to play and is also very punishing missplays?

Yea that seems kinda right. If you wanna be a master of the only killer that has the potential to kill all 4 every game it should be very very difficuilt.

    Agreed!

So why isn't survivor just as difficult? I mean, they have the power to destroy every killer except nurse, yet they are easy to play.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

Let's not forget the devs day that 2k 2e is their balancing mark- since 2 died and 2 escaped despite the fact he didn't camp or tunnel this is actually proving the game is balanced.

I love Ardetha, but this was not his best video to pick.

Hell I can post his PWYF Pig game and claim Pig needs a nerf; as we all know she doesn't.

Except it's not balanced, because at least half of that team pipped, and killer did not. Survivors won that match.

  • @kazakun said:

I'm not even that good and escape more often than not. Killer I can do okay,or get absolutely destroyed. I have some of the same issues and frustrations, but I just try to push through. I was getting angry playing killer,so I switched to survivor for awhile. Then I tried a new killer. I just bought literally every chapter the past two months. I didn't have any of them. I try to do the challenges,or play in a way I normally wouldn't play. Or try to learn something. Just know that people hear you. Even the devs have to know by now. There's a post about matchmaking almost every single day. I hope it does improve, and I hope to see you back.

Of course the devs know, they just dont care. As long as the money comes in and the competition cant get a toehold, they will continue to not care.

I don't like him at all. As survivor he just teases the killer and acts like a total douche with 0 entertainment or skill.

All he does is teabag after the pallet stuns, which usually gets him killed. He's not the most skilled, but he's super interactive with his chat and he's funny.

  • @Dyeverse said:

Lets face it, in he red ranks the Game is just heavily balanced towards Survivors. Most of the Killers are just a joke. I play survivor a lot and get out nearly all the f***** time. And when i play killer its just annoying. Each game 2 Generators pop until the first guy is being hooked. You get looped around a single pallet for far too long and when you break it you get blinded by a flashlight.

Some would argue , that the killers need to learn how to apply pressure and thats right, BUT the game is just faaar to easy for survivors (again i play both for about 1000 hours). From the killers perspective you need to have a really good timemanagement, while the survivors are far more forgiving, especially while playing SWF.

Its just not fun anymore. Playing Survivor is just underwhelming because its too easy just houlding left mouse button and pressing space from time to time. And killer is underwhelming because experienced survivors make a joke of most killers. Not unless you are a god nurse, which requires even more humiliation, in order to become that good.

Im talking only about the red ranks. Maybe there are go(o)d killers and they have my respect, but i havent seen them the past 100 games. In conclusion making fun of killers and trashing them in 5 mins, because they are just extremely weak, isnt fun. And playing killer, well no need in explaining that any further. It goes to point where killers are just starting games not moving in order to derank. Seriously, how long are the Devs trying to ignore that?

At least for me, i will not be coming back until they significantly improved the game, which i fairly enjoyed the past few years.

Yep, I haven't played in a week for the same reasons. I will be back when mmr matchmaking is implemented, but for now, the game just isn't fun any more.

    @LALYTHIA said:

I don't believe most of what you just said about your experience. But have fun on your dbd-cation.

I have the same experience. Matchmaking is the biggest issue. No fun stomping baby killers as survivor and absolutely miserable being cannon fodder for survivors that have 10 times my hours and are 6 ranks above me.

  • @Brhoom said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1313991#Comment_1313991

Maybe because you moried two so the last 2 survivor had too many resources to use?

So your logic is more resources are fine when they can complete the gens twice as fast? Makes no sense at all.

  • @Brhoom said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1313150#Comment_1313150

See this is a problem, Killers complain that survivors shouldn't be able to loop killers for 5 gens and we agree.

However, if a killer does the 3 vs 1 strat it's game over for the survivors since there is no way to finish all gens that way, since one will be hooked, one chased, and one going for the unhook, that means no one will be free to do a gen.

It's not a viable strategy but a cheap abuse of the game's mechanic to guarantee a cheap victory.

I got on pallet city, moried two survivors, then just did an experiment. 3 gens left, one survivor ran from pallet to pallet, not looping at all, just throwing it instantly. They got down to 1 gen left... Certain maps just have too many resources.

Just imagine thinking that broadcasting the game makes someone a "pro"...

I guess I have an idea which Streamer you are watching.

The fact that they play 5-24 hours a day, are at the top of the rankings, and get paid to do so is the definition of being a pro.

I watch a bunch of streamers. Sattelizer, monto, tru3, umbra, otz, Aryun, Scott jund, noob3, puppers, etc. The only one that I've never seen get destroyed is umbra, but I haven't seen her face a truly exceptional team yet.

"You're wrong, if you get survivors that know the game, there is zero chance for a 4k. Not even streamers that have thousands of hours can do it."

    This is incorrect.

A Streamer losing a game does not mean that there is 0 Chance to get a 4K. It just means that the Survivors were better than said Streamer.

In a balanced game, the person with greater skill should always win. Streamers are pros, so amateurs shouldn't win. That doesn't happen here, you need a killer of exceptional skill to beat average survivors, and no killer can beat exceptional survivors.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1313144#Comment_1313144

    BIG Difference:

Survivors have to do Gens in order to escape.

Killers have a choice if they want to use a Mori (and mori the person off Hook instantly) or play normally and will have a chance for a 4K in both ways.

You're wrong, if you get survivors that know the game, there is zero chance for a 4k. Not even streamers that have thousands of hours can do it.

    @ich_häng_mal_rum said:

To use a mori during the first one or two minutes is just trash. The game is balanced 4 vs 1 and have the choice to mori a survivor instant with a „offering“ is just op and unhealthy for the game.

The game is not balanced for a 4v1, it's balanced for a maximum effort killer without a mori to get a 2k. With gen times and map resources, a 3v1 would be a fair match, so killers make it a 3v1.

    @Equus said:

I don't get it either because it costs them bloodpoints too and I can't believe it's fun to play like that. Yesterday I encountered a tunneling face camping Bubba, almost made it out but then he started slugging for the 4k.... He wastes my time so when on hook I hang on as long as possible (while entertaining myself by browsing the internet😁) so the team has a chance. That'll teach them in the long run. I got more points than the killer that game... I just don't get tilted and remind myself there are more good than bad matches.

And for that bubba to get to that point, he has likely had more bad matches than good and is just done. Bhvr and survivors have bred this toxic environment, so don't hate the killer for doing what he has to do.

Do you mean like F13's voice chat where the Killer can hear the Survivors and vice versa?

The emblem system definately needs to be looked at. All I get at rank 1 is Brutal unless I kill everyone. Even when I hold the gens for several minutes, cut people like crazy, spend 90% of the match in a chase, I still get Brutal unless I wipe. And we all know there needs to be a reward for getting to rank 1. Maybe 100 Auric Cells per month for getting to rank 1 for both Killer and Survivor?

Nope. Voice chat that only survivors can hear. Dbd was never designed with voice chat in mind, as killer you rely on the survivors lack of coordination. Unfortunately swf gives them that advantage, so killer is at a huge disadvantage.

You can't buff killer to compensate for swf without screwing over solo players, so either swf needs to go, or solo needs voice, then give killers a proper buff.

  • @Licsiaux said:

What aspects of DBD would you like to see changed or improved? I'd personally like to see a overhauled ranking system implemented, as the current one isn't really cutting it.

I'd like to see voice chat implemented for solos, then buff killer to be competitive. Don't tell me about the multi language barrier, see deceit, which asks you what language you speak and then puts you with others that speak the same.

Devs does it all the time. They ignore everything. They don't care. They ignore that there's a lot of people Hacking (I opened a ticked for a surv Hacking 5 days ago and still none response) Spirit's power it's still a problem, Huntress' hatchets and Myers are broken in ded servers, grabbing animation still bugged, killer still spawning so close to survivors at the beginning of the match... But hey, who wants some ######### cosmetics released every single Wednesday people?

    Pretty much.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/156692/why-do-people-play-killer

Blame BVHR for making killer boring and with that stupid ridiculous Rift killer challenges (like the Huntress one, hitting a surv with a hatch with a distance of 15 meters). I mean, it's dumb af that devs expect us to be experts playing with her just to make a stupid challenge. It should be a reasonable and good one. Not a try hard one. That confirmed me even more that devs hasn't idea of what they do to their game because they don't play it. Playing Killer it's masoquism imo.

I watched a dev play killer tonight. He got destroyed in every game I saw. Losing to gen rush, toxic survivors, and second chance perks. Not a single hint of frustration out of him. He played with the enthusiasim of a mechanic changing the oil in his car. If you can't tell when something is frustrating, you have no business working on it.

Not to mention if the killer made the mistake of chasing 1 person through 3 gens and thats his first hook hes kind of screwed himself and now has to hope for a miracle. The other 3 hook bombing might be that miracle

The problem here is that you can make a mistake that requires a miracle to fix, in a mere 80 seconds, while the other team is given 12 chances at base and a ton more with perks and items.

The whole problem is that they balance around bad players and operate under the false assumption that you get great players only rarely.

  • @Sir_WAFFLZ said:

The matchmaking is busted and after about 3 games in a row as a rank 12 killer getting paired with red ranks I decided that playing killer isnt worth it. I'm not learning anything by losing within the first 5 minutes of the game. I'm not improving. If anything this busted system is making me dislike the game. Less and less people want to play killer because they get stomped over and over meaning survivors cant find lobbies for their ranks so they get cranked with whoever is open. This is a self perpetuating problem. Honestly this is just to vent, but I don't see why anyone would play killer unless you are already top tier. It's a bad experience that ruins my enjoyment of the game as a whole. So I'll just stick to surv and stomp the baby killers until the game dies out

Because when that rare occasion comes around and you get a match that has survivors at your own skill level, it's the most fun game I've ever played.

That's what frustrates me so much about this team, they have an excellent game that's ruined by an uncaring staff.

  • @GetDedicated said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1312467#Comment_1312467

Imagine being so bad as killer to rely on ONE SINGLE PERK to play good as killer and blaming a perk nerf. I loop well don't worry, but still camped or tunneled after killers got titled cause I run them for 3 gens and there are no pallets anymore. And no, I don't use crutch perks like DS.

The fact that you can run them for three gens is the reason they camp you. Its either poor map design or poor matchmaking, which frustrates the killer into camping or tunneling.

It's impossible to play fair as killer against a strong team, the gen times to chase times do not allow for winning 12 chases. There are too many safe pallets and second chance perks.

Uhuh, and, did you record your footage, tried finding out what you did wrong and if you truly were greeding or not? Even Otz says that he made a mistake by chasing a survivor who fully knew how to loop Otz. If you have a survivor that can loop you for what seems to be an eternity, without dropping any pallets during the run, you are being greedy. Switching targets and dropping a chase are different things. And you probably forced them off the wrong gens.

Example: backwater swamp - grim pantry has 2 gens that are very far away from the others: one is in the house, the other tends to be either in the faraway corner or close to a gate. Scaring survivors offf of those gens is a terrible idea, because they are extremely far away from the rest of the gens. Then you have 5 gens that are close to the killershack, and you have 5 potential 3-gens there. Scaring them off the generator in the house while someone else is doing the gen next to the killershack is wasting your time. Heck, if you have the right perks(tinkerer, Pop/Ruin, Surveillance for example), you can even prevent them from doing any gens at all after they did the first 2.

Another example: The Game: you often want survivors to do the gens upstairs, even though downstairs is loopcity, its very easy to patrol generators for the killer downstairs. Preferably, you want 1 gen upstairs and 2 gens downstairs left for the final gen, but The Game allows for up to a 4-gen situation that is incredibly hard to break, let alone that it wont prevent a 3-gen situation, giving survivors 2 extremely hard generator setups that they would need to try and break. If you have all 4 survivors alive at that point, they might make it, but you should be able to kill at least 1 survivor before the final gen needs to be fixed.

Another example you ask? Well, one of the tougher maps for killers to get a 3 gen: Ormund. You basically do not want to walk around the building. You always want to walk through the building. It's just as fast or even faster than walking around and you'd always have pressure on the central gen, which is the only gen that would allow a 3-gen situation. If you let the central gen be popped early, you basically spend too much time being lured away by a survivor. Get your priorities straight. Chasing isnt your number 1 priority. Preventing gens from finishing is a bigger priority that can become your greatest strength. If you have control over which gens are being finished, then you can spend time chasing someone across the entire map.

Yes, i did record it. No, i wasn't greedy. I made a couple of mistakes, but you can't make a whole lot of mistakes in 4 freaking minutes. The biggest mistake was hitting ready with a player named umbra on the survivor team. I know how to run the maps, I know how to 3 gen.

What gets me are the perks. I love that part of the justification for the Ruin nerf was that it was overused, yet look at them survivor perk sets.

It was never about use. Killer perks aren't allowed to be strong unless they require a ton of work to use, or are easily countered. Survivors on the other hand, well they have to be coddled with ridiculously strong perks, can't have the paying customers upset.

    Hello fellow survivors and killers,

Yes i know, you may think this is another rant post on overall toxicity in DbD community.. Well kinda, but i try to make it constructive. Keep in mind thats english is not my native language, so be cool with me on that point.

I want to warn that this post is neither Killer or Survivors sided, because both party have their share of responsability in the current ultra toxicity that destroying the enjoyable experience thats DbD was once (very long time ago).

The main problem here, is the global behavior of the player base, most (yes lets be honest, majority of players are toxics, being chronicaly or on the spure of emotions.) of the players engages themselves in toxicity in everyways possibles that their imagination can realise. I played DbD for 539h as of now, yes im not the most dedicated player, and i often stop playing it and coming back some months laters... Well i kinda got a life for myself on the side and other hobbies. But i do believe that the number of hours i pourred in this game give me a good insight of how things are now. And if there is one thing i can say, is that i like DbD, i really like the concept in itself, like how its executed. This game followed me every days of this quarantine.

So, the main problem here being, camping, flashlight, key, teabag etc etc.... In short, nowaday, everything that doesn't please a player wichever side he is. And that must stop. BHVR need to do something to reduce that asap and the player base need to start growing some decent behavior (yes i know im just dreaming but heh). As i said i love DbD, i play it regulary, come back after i took some break of the game, but the overall toxicity keep increasing each passing day. Lets be honest, it became suffocating to play. For one game where the killer will play fairplay and we will all have a great game, great chases, great rescues, amazing mindgame from the killer, you gonna get 10 games if not more where all the fun of playing a videogame just vanish... Being face camped, teabagged, bullied (wichever side you are) as became rampant. Hell, im totally OK to lose if the game as been great behind ! Its just a videogame, no Esport, nothing at stake.. Chill down peoples.

So, for now it just been a rant post, so here my proposition about it. I don't know if it has been proposed, but here what i think.

I saw many, prevent face camp, remove or nerf X perk that doesn't suit my taste etc... all of these are idiotic.. I agree with BHVR politic on that... Well only half agreeing actually.

Yes a player should be given the choice to play the way he want as long as it fit the legal rules of the games, but some ways are extremly frustrating for the player suffering it. We will not talk about ban or things like that, but purely how to reduce the amout rage inducing and toxicity making behavior... In a multiplayer game, are you not supposed to not ruin the gaming experience of others ?

So what i propose is a reputation system. But not a player vote based one, it will be biased anyways. But an automatic one based on the actions a player do that are wildly considered by the community as toxic.

Lets take exemple on Face Camping, one of the most frustrating and considered one of the most toxic behavior during a trial. Yes its easy to counter it, just do gens while the hooked guy just sigh in disgust in front of his screen... He spend many minutes waiting for a game, than some others waiting for it to launch... And when he think he can enjoy a game, he end up hooker and unable to do anything for the whole game. Its called a big loss of time and a very frustrating experience for the player. Its virtualy unnaceptable in an online game, pretty much the same as being spawn killed in a FPS... NOBODY like that. See my point, there come more.

So now, lets say Bubba (cause YOU are the biggest camper of all) decide to face camp. Then the reputation system would come in action. Every player would start with a given amount of reputation points, their action can increase or decrease it. For exemple, once he start face camping, his reputation pool will slowly starting to lower depending on the distance he stay from the hook, if he is in motion or plainly staying still in front. Of course the area should not be too big, as patroling a hook is NOT camping, Borrowed time is here for these situation. So in the end the killer would risk gaining few BP, lose some pips, but as its not enough to prevent this behavior, he wil also loose reputation.

So what does it would do to lose reputation ? Well it would affect your matchmaking. Basicly put, you would be pitted against players with a reputation around your. Toxics would play with toxics, fair players with fair players. Problem solved.

Here i took face camping, but this process can be installed in many many situation. On the other side, doing good play would be considered increasing the reputation. Chasing a survivor, taking a pallet as a killer or stunning him as a survivor... Basicly playing the game as intended.

Human by nature are defiant, they love to go against the rules. The only thing they understand is when the consequence fall on them and they can't escape it.

I perfectly know, thats my idea will never happen, and peoples gonna keep being ultra toxic, i know that BHVR doesn't really care about the atmospher in the community and player base. But i just wanted to share my view of the thing cause i love this game, but im ashamed of the players behavior.

Why would they? Frustrated gamers come back for more. It's the old nes game strategy, but the bosses never end.

Nah, I play both killer and survivor. I escape about 50% of the time due to me being overly altruistic and trying to help other people escape. There are some things about killers that are too strong for this current meta(aka, slugging having 0 vanilla counters and only 1 viable perk that, on paper, is only strong because of the lack of vanilla counters). And yeah, 4 minutes and 20 seconds is relatively a fast game, but its not a genrush.

Fastest times for generators without any perks and toolboxes:

4 man split on 4 gens, final gen being a 4 man gen, killer doing nothing: 2 minutes and 5 seconds(not including distance between generators and not including opening exit gates)

5x 4 man on 1 gen, killer doing nothing: 3 minutes.

1 man being chased and 3 man rush fastest time: 2 minutes 30 seconds

5 minutes for a game simply means that you lacked gen pressure. You probably greeded when you shouldnt and either were too late to acknowledge that or didnt even recognise it and blamed the game instead. Either that, or you had the 1 in 5000 games where you actually faced an optimal 4 man SWF and applied that as the standard for your games, even though realistically, your average game lasts about 8 minutes.

    EDIT:

Some quick notes: including prove thyself and toolboxes, the fastest gen speeds are roughly(not accurate, just guessing based on known numbers) 1 minute 40 seconds and 2 minutes 40 seconds with 1 minute 55 seconds for 1 man chased and a 3 man rush.

Wasn't greedy, switched targets, forced people off gens, didn't matter. Lol 1 in 5000, I wish. More like 4 out of 10.

If there are no lit totems spotted, if someone is freshly hooked, healing overall is useless due to sloppy butcher being so common, Sloppy Butcher forced players to learn to play while never healing in the first place, yeah, you do gens. Thats not a genrush. A genrush requires toolboxes and prove thyself to be a thing.

And no, gen pressure is not a myth, It might be impossible preventing 5 gens from being done, just as it might be impossible for survivors to do a game with no one ever being downed or hooked. But just because 5 gens are impossible, doesnt mean 3 gens, 2 gens and 1 gen is impossible. If survivors were capable of destroying a 3-gen setup before they fixed 3 gens, then you are at fault for lacking pressure. On some maps, you want to stay away from gens that are spread out, to have the gens that spawned close to each other within your reach. It might feel stupid to not go to a certain part of the map and letting people finish gens, but 3-gens situation can literally change the outcome of the match. If you lack genpressure, you gonna lose the gens you didnt pressure. If you "tried" pressuring gens and failed to get a 3-gen situation, then I 100% will bet my life savings that you decided to chase a claudette with a flashlight for 90 seconds without even hitting her. If you cant accept that you're wasting time in a chase, then you deserve people finishing gens. Sometimes you gotta swallow your pride, quit the chase and go back to your patrolling. It, again, might feel stupid to quit a chase early, but it can literally change the outcome of the match. That gen you kicked at 95% and scared the 1 survivor that was there? By the time they return to that gen, it very likely regressed back to 40%. Gen pressure matters.

Basically, there are 3 steps in preventing genrush in the average game:

    1. try finding the best survivor, chase them away from gens only, dont spend time chasing them into a jungle gym, even if you got a hit on them.(he probably wont heal up anyway and go back to gens, where you can hit him a second time without ever having chased that person)
    2. try finding the worst survivor, chase them for 30 seconds and get a cheap hook.
    3. go back to patrolling important gens
    4. Whenever you hook someone, let people be overly altruistic. Leave them enough room to want to go for the unhook, but small enough room to hit them before they can unhook so you swap out a hooked survivor. Altruism can be the survivors greatest weakness.
    5. repeat

If the best survivor is within your skill to down them quickly, congrats, you got an easy game and can pretty much ignore patrolling gens, because they will be too altruistic otherwise.

This guy... I watched 5 gens be done in 4:20 without a prove thyself or toolbox in the game. I read killer for dummies too, I understand the game, I understand what the survivor mains call gen pressure, I know when to abandon chase, I know it all. I also know that it's futile against a team that knows what they're doing.

You're clearly one of these survivor mains that escapes 75% of the time and thinks survivor is weak.

Typically I'm not waiting too long for a lobby as killer. On most days It'll take 30 seconds tops to find a lobby.

    As survivor or killer?
