  • Not persistently, but consoles in general (by varying degrees depending on type) still suffer from a few issues with the game. Although apparently the last update brought some minor improvements.

  • Well, apparently it didn't turn out to be a magic "fix" to the wider issue. Last 5 matches I had just now did have all one DC each from my fellow survivors.

But yeah, guess that now fixes any DC issues for at least a decade... and maybe even brings world peace, right...

Hopefully never, every test I was paired with people way below or way above me, I almost never had a player in my game that was even within 500 hours of me

Oh, you mean pretty much like currently? 😂

  • You opened the door yourself by comparing Trickster to other killers in your initial post. What was it again? "Trickster about as bad as Myers and Trapper"?

  • Sorry, don't think I got any cakes left to spare. But I could offer you some cheese to go with your whine?

  • If Trickster is that bad, you won't mind him being nerfed some more in exchange for a major buff to Spirit, right?

hi! I’m using a SSD on my Pro and it fixed the Performance issues that occurred after the resident evil chapter.

Now you don’t need a SSD anymore since DBD got a performance update this Tuesday.

Which unfortunately fixed the old issues only partly and introduced new ones with the iffy scratch marks now.

  • To each his own, I guess, but I honestly only use them randomly because I don't find them particularly useful. But then I play only like 10-20% killers on DbD.

Butt dancing used to be something that ppl pay for now it's toxic heh weird times we live in

Dancing? Say what? To me T-bagging looks more like taking a dump. Not sure who you usually hang around with, I don't think I know ppl who'd pay to watch me take a dump.

But if that is your kink... whatever...

  • Damn, that means I'll have to play something else while it lasts. And wait out the sweaty tryhard-fest. Oh well...

  • Perfect example for the trolling trash that is a sizeable part of the DbD community. Your choice if you want to cater to that bunch.

The thing is it can be abused, if abused correctly, e.g:

Don't like a killer that beat you- blacklist,

Someone's (god forbid you find one these days) a nurse main- blacklist.

    Someone played spirit-blacklist.

Someone camped because you all hookdove- blacklist.

    Someone slugged/tunneled- blacklist.

See, it would just be abused. Outside of hacking, you shouldn't be able to stop yourself playing with someone. Someone who DC's should have some sort of DC rating and only get paired against people of the same level and rating (both killer and survivor).

If you don't DC, it goes back up (similar to karma systems).

But then you needn't have an infinite number of blacklist entries. Limit them to 15 or 20 slots, and that's it. Not like there's only 15 or 20 ppl playing/maining e.g. Spirit, right?

I would rather them keep DC penalty off. And make it so if a player disconnects they pip down an entire pip regardless of what points they have on the system.

This. I frankly don't care for the reason someone disconnects. Not being psychic I simply can't know it. And I'm pretty sure NO classic penalty (even not prolonged bans) will "solve" the issue.

What is needed is a meaningful in-game consequence. Bigger benefits for the rest of the players left holding the bag in the trial for starters. Because usually they do suffer somewhat or even the most from it.

And a recognizable impact for the quitter would be a bonus, but there is the problem that different players care about different aspects. Some don't mind rank, some don't mind BPs, some won't even mind a temporary ban. Maybe locking out/down the character you DC'd on for 48+ hours might do the trick. So you can't play him/her for a longer period at all.

I'm on PS4 so I don't get the benefit of endgame chat, but someone went out of their way to message me "camping tunneling trash" after I played a match as Demogorgon (trying to get the daily) in which I only got a single hook all game and the survivor was rescued within seconds.

You really have to turn off random messages on the PS with this game, the crap some people spout...

    Personal highlight:

    "You made me DISCONNECT!"

Because I didn't manage to unhook a fellow Survivor from the other edge of the map in time (on Haddonfield). While Survivor no. 2 was doing a basement Gen (way closer to the hook) and no. 3 was already sacrificed. Never mind there also was a random killer around still...

    Clearly all my fault! 😂

  • It is made somewhat annoying due to not being able to really "learn" that map well enough in game. Considering I don't get it very often in the usual map rotation, I still haven't gotten all the ins and outs of it from the few trials spent there. Especially since it is a really big map, so you don't have the time to carefully explore it well during a trial if you still want to somewhat play the game at the same time.

Add to that frequently ppl disconnecting straight on loading into that map, I'd actually like more trials on it. Just for the benefit of having a better knowledge of it. I reserve judgment on it till I got a somewhat solid impression and not just guesswork.

    in Why? Comment by DuneT
  • I second that, although I have to say it got marginally better except for the scratch marks sometimes randomly disappearing now.

At least we don't get rubberbanding yet...

  • For starters, the killer might occasionally just not have seen you. Happens frequently if you play as killer on a PS e.g. and someone gets too close into one of these technical "blind spots". Could also have been related to current obsession status in the trial.

And moreover, you should ask yourself one very fundamental question first - how are you entitled to dictate to a killer, how he or she has to play? You can try to influence it, but in the end it's not your call to make how he/she plays the game. Period.

That being said, if you deliberately tried to piss me off as a killer (which I play very infrequently), that would be the best way to get largely ignored. Because ignoring you is the ultimate middle finger in a game, where you thereby are denied your fun/excitement/whatever. And just wasted your playtime.

Too bad there aren't more fixed emotes in game to make intentions clear. Chances are, without these you might just be mistaken for a random trolling player, no matter what you do. Even if you had good intentions.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/269020/rant-solo-survivor-is-a-nightmare-these-days

I mostly play solo survivor and let me tell you it's took years off my life 😂. But seriously it can be so frustrating to run the killer and see that no one's doing a thing. I'm in red/purple ranks and I expect my team to have a good understanding of the game and how it works (do gens to escape). Sometimes I get put with absolute bots and I just sit there like"why?... "

Matchmaking issue. Comes in various flavors. More examples:

    1. So you unlocked your 3rd perk slot and want to try out that new Tier-2 perk as Level 13 killer (don't have any purple ones yet). And get thrown into a match with 4 survivors fully kitted, 4 purple perks each and... ranked 9,8,7. Have fun with your rank 18 killer now...

    2. You land in a match with a 3-survivor SWF exclusively doing their thing all trial. And the killer ofc getting rid of the ez kill that is you. Scoreboard shows killer and SWF are all in the purple ranks, while you just hit rank 16 and are proud of your single purple perk. BHVR hopes you enjoyed being bent over...

After a couple of these you just stop putting faith in your fellow players. Faith in BHVR doing dung about Matchmaking has long ago been lost. They don't give an excremental dropping. Just enjoy the occasional/ rare decent trial you get.

Nah, Solo Queue definitely does not need a buff.

Solo Queue by itself is fine, and it is a much better and more immersive experience when compared to SWF. The problem is that matchmaking often pairs you with people that are below your skill level, which leads to very bad trials.

Fix matchmaking, and Solo is fixed.

Waiting for somewhat proper Matchmaking since like 2018 here (back then on the PC). It frankly made me quit the game for way over a year that nothing was done. Haven't touched it on PC since.

In fact, it' s bad for both the hardcore players and the casual ones. And both killers and survivors. And I personally blame like 50% of the DCs on totally skewed trials thanks to some weirdo matchmaking mechanics. And it most likely drives off potential new players as well for good after they become shafted a couple of matches early on.

  • Not for new survivors or killers ATM. With the bad joke that is current matchmaking (and has been for a long time) , not worth it.

  • I can feel this. At current state I wish for nothing as badly as a blacklist option. So I can throw all the trash into it which makes the game quite unenjoyable. I'd be content just to be never matched with those again, both survivors and killers, but as far as I care BHVR could deport them to Uganda or whatever.

Instead of the placebo that is the reporting function. Can't be that hard to implement, can it?

“Added the ability for tapp to punch pig to death just like the game too” This should increase his pick rate

Tapp punching the game to death? You mean like suddenly you get a black screen and then a single message:

"Detective Tapp hits BHVR server for critical damage. Server IS down. Also, police violence is bad, m'kay?"

That would be a masterful troll/April's fools joke by rhe devs, but hardly what you meant,, right?

  • Isn't Spirit already somewhat nerfed at current state? Indirectly. I lost count of the number of trials where immediately after they find out they're up against Spirit, half the survivors DC. Which makes it even more EzMode for the Spirit player, unless the other 2 survivors decide to DC as well. And no, doesn't happen as frequently with any other killer.

But this whole "It's Spirit, I'm out!" mentality is a clear nerf to potential (BP) rewards for her. I haven't even unlocked her, much less play her, but also from a survivor's perspective it's easy enough to recognize.

On a side note, I wouldn't really blame the remaining survivors left holding the (dung) bag for DCing as well. A 1v2 against Spirit is about as unfun as it gets in this game.

I'm on PS4, and I've seen other people on console say they have problems with scratch marks, too. It was a long time back it was last talked about, though. I don't remember if it started with dedicated servers or if the problems with scratch marks happened before them.

Considering the many issues the game has on the PS4 I just shrugged it off as yet another BHVR "feature", same as "warping" players, stutters in gameplay or magical "blind spots" next to you where survivors simply seem to vanish.

  • @Marc_go_solo said:

Very true. Also, it feels like they're only playing half a game, even though they paid for a full one. It's like buying RE2 to play Leon, but then ignore Claire.

The way nearly everyone will get the best experience, learning and satisfaction for the game is by playing both sides. If someone is better as one side but not the other, then this is the way to improve.

I wouldn't say I never play killer. Occasionally I can be bothered, but it's the exception. Not mainly because the game is (debatably) heavily survivor-biased. But in a survivor "team" of 4, if 2 or even 3 of them happen to play like headless chicken, you can still do your own thing as the 4th. And have some fun at least.

As killer, not so much. Worst case, you're stuck with 4 complete turds who can't even fathom the concept of fun in a game. And are sweatily tryharding like their RL depends on it. And no way out for you except maybe for the (obvious) DC. Or perhaps just going AfK.

Also the hilarious joke that is matchmaking... Having gotten the first green perk for the third perk slot finally, as a rank 18 killer you get thrown into a match with 4 fully kitted survivors with 4 purple perks each and rank 8 and above every single one. of them. On a relatively new killer, oh joy!

After one of those (which happened frequently), I usually take a long break before touching a killer again. And that's not even factoring in that aforementioned 4 players might be trolling or bullying you that whole time.

On a side note, that also makes it rather unattractive to bother unlocking a new killer when I barely play the old ones. On the other hand, I can totally empathize with killer players DCing when some of my fellow survivors behave like complete twats.

So yeah, it somewhat widens the perspective playing both roles. I'm unfortunately just not enough of a masochist to commit more to playing killer. Can't be bothered on my (limited) available playtime.

  • So you got, and I quote: "a few matches" and now that is your resume? Rather thin on the evidence.

    Obvious Troll is obvious.

I'm not saying a reinstated penalty won't prevent any DCs, just not enough all by itself.

And nobody's saying it will be enough by itself either. So it seems like we're in agreement.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2385548#Comment_2385548

I'm a survivor main. There are five players in each trial, four of whom are survivors. When you DC, you're ruining the trial for four other players.

If DC penalties were so easily bypassed, we wouldn't have DCers try to convince people otherwise.

We are indeed in agreement about it not being an universal solution to issues. I freely admit there are some which might not be able to be fixed. Like that one fellow Survivor 2 days ago who DC'd right after missing a skill check on a Gen repair not even 2 minutes into the match. I was working next to him on that Gen and just thinking: "What the frakk, dude?" No way to fix that guy likely. *rolleyes*

My beef is rather that only reinstating DC penalties will do next to nothing for the underlying issues why ppl DC. At all. Makes it feel like a mere placebo.

  • Darth Vader!

  • Next buff to Nemesis should be equipping the zombies with launchers for heat-seeking missiles that insta-kill on impact.

Also need an emote which makes survivors wave a white flag for surrendering.

  • Not many will ease up.

The majority would rather kick a guy going down in the unmentionables one more time or press his face into the dirt additionally just because they can. You can call it "community spirit" or whatever.

Expecting the amount of empathy for other players you seem to advocate is just not a thing for most DbD players.

DCers DC because there is no penalty and they feel entitled to ruining everyone else's trial just because they didn't like something that happened (not the "right" killer, they were found/downed first - or at all - and so on). If you tried to remove all the reasons why people DC, you'd just remove the game.

If the DC penalty didn't do anything, DCers wouldn't try to convince everyone that DC penalties were useless.

I'm not saying a reinstated penalty won't prevent any DCs, just not enough all by itself.

    - It won't do anything to address the ones due to technical reasons for starters.

    - It won't do much for the DCs due o toxic behaviour of other players. Because eff any penalty when you feel sort of abused. (Could blame he commu nityor lack of in-game policing).

    - As a sole measure it won't be enough to combat some of the fundamental issues leading to many, albeit not all DCs (Some ppl are just archetypical dung-heads, can't change human nature.)

    - If ppl DC on purpose (a lot), it's a sign they're not having fun (any more) for some reason. 90%+ of the time it's not likely in order to troll you as another participant in the trial. So you want to FORCE them to continue doing something unfun in a game? GL with that.

  • The whole issue about DC penalties comes down to the matter WHY people do it. Make the penalty as harsh as a 1-week- ban or even a 1-month one., it likely won't save everything. Or much at all. There will still be DCs, might they be technically-induced or otherwise.

Personally, if some other players, may they be playng killer or survivor, bug me enough to make me voluntarily DC, a penalty won't change that. I'd rather take the ban than endure for minutes after minutes some gameplay that feels like punishment instead of fun. And yeah, we don't have e.g. a blacklist to address this issue.

At the end of the day, you can't force people to play a game/match/trial they don't enjoy (any more). Not to an extended degree. For a clear example: the other 3 survivors DC'd before much at all happened. You expect me to stay around as sole survivor thereafter for... something? Not going to bother. I'd rather take whatever penalty and if need be even leave the game for a month or whatever.

If you can't relate to that, you're either still having fun in that very situation or simply are a glutton for punishment.

  • DBD Matchmaking has been so stellar for years now, it should be the (gaming) industry standard. Easily responsible for 90% of the fun in the game... not.
