  • It's not impossible but it's going to be painful for survivors. You basically have to dominate the survivors. Kill 2 and force the remaining 2 into submission. Bring them to a gen and get them to work on it then throw hatchets at immobile targets. Get them to take turns picking each other off the ground until you get 15 hits. It sucks for everyone one involved. But not impossible.

  • I actually really like the map. Getting used to the stair locations takes a while and there might be some balance issues that need addressed in the future. But overall it's a fantastic map.

  • The obvious solution is to reword Mori's so they activate after progress toward sacrificing a survivor.

  • I don't think Pyramid Head needs a nerf in general but I do agree that the cage mechanics are weird. The caged survivor shows up about as far on a map as possible from the killer though so if your survivor friends fail to get there before the killer can camp then I don't know what to tell you. I really don't like that WGLF doesn't get tokens when you uncage survivors though. I'm good with BT or DS not working on caged survivors but WGLF just gives bonus bloodpoints. Good luck getting 4 WGLF tokens against Pyramid Head.

Growing on playing console games, I can tell you that hackers can do work on those too. Try playing an older COD game and seeing how often you'll get blown up as soon as you spawn in for the entire game by hackers.

No one is saying it is impossible to cheat on console. But it is far more rare and difficult. The quantity of cheating that takes place on PC games compared to console isn't even close.

  • My advice is hide the chat bar at post game.

Pretty sure its just PC, although your welcome to do last second swapping just incase.

This is exactly why many of us on console do not want cross play! People on the forum who play PC constantly make it sound like there is absolutely no advantage over console but that obviously isn't true. Stuff like this almost only happens on PC.

  • I think at the absolute minimum they should offer the community an opportunity to weigh in on the topic. Conduct a poll. Which 3 characters do you think should be LGBT? Which 3 characters do think should not be LGBT? Whichever the top 3 that players don't want being LGBT are not given an LGBT identity then the top 3 picks for an LGBT identity are given such. Something like that. At least give the players an opportunity to be a part of the decision. That isn't too much to ask for.

But they didn’t state they would change any character. As of now, no character was given any explicit sexual orientation. But we all know that every character has some kind of sexual orientation.

if you don’t want to play a gay character then you shouldn’t play any character that could be gay, and you won’t know for sure until the creator of said character states their sexual orientation, that is not equal to changing that char.

You just made the same argument twice now. It is just as lousy of an argument the second time. It is ridiculous to expect players to not play a game in case their favorite characters are made gay at a distant point in the future. And btw, the flip side of this argument is true too. If you are gay and you've decided in your mind that a particular character identifies with you and now all of the sudden that character is given a very specific identity and backstory that is inconsistent to your worldview, wouldn't that make you upset? You've spent lots of resources getting the cosmetics you like. You've earned all the bloodpoints to get their perks all at rank 3. You've spent a lot of time playing that character. Now that character is given an identity that is 100% straight. No problem with that?

    Why would it matter?

They're not real. They're not real people. They're not connected to you in any way. It doesn't matter if Dwight likes pork chops or not.

But it does matter to some degree does it not? Otherwise why make the distinction in the first place? If it just doesn't matter then there is no reason to state the characters sexual orientation at all. Going by how much of a response this thread has gotten, plenty of people have an opinion on the matter. So at the very least can we all agree on the fact that it does matter.

  • @Mooks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1346733#Comment_1346733

Then you should have never played any character at all tbh. They have stated before that there are LGBT characters but they didn’t want to explicitly state them. Do you also only play characters that have the same gender as yourself?

DbD characters always had defined backstories and were never just blank ‚insert yourself‘ characters and we always knew there was more to every character that we just did not know yet.

That is a poor argument to make. "You should just never play any game ever in case at some point in the future they make a change you don't like." That is basically what you said. To answer your question, as a rule I do prefer to play characters that are the same gender as me. Will I play characters with different genders? Sure. Whatever. It isn't a deal breaker. I might play a survivor that is gay too. But I don't particularly like an identity being forced on a character that I've been playing for a long time. That is the point I'm making.

  • I don't particularly care if they have gay, bi, transgender or non-binary (or anything else in between) characters in DBD. But I do wish that they had the foresight to make this decision from the beginning. I'm not particularly fond of the idea of a character that I've put a lot of time, bloodpoints, money or other resources into getting cosmetics for suddenly becoming gay or whatever. Again, I don't have a problem with LGBT stuff. It's just that I don't identify that way and I prefer to play characters that I do identify with. Which is why I can understand where the gay community is coming from wanting to have characters that they do identify with.

    New meta perk.

I dont know about you, but I constantly see situations where a slug is immediately knocked back down because they got picked up by someone being chased. This perk is going destroy pressure the killer gains from slugging.

Unbreakable while cursed is just gravy.

That is kind of the point. It is BVHR's gentle nudge to stop killers from slugging. Don't slug and any survivor running this perk is playing with 3 perks instead of 4. I think people will mess around with it at first cause it is shiny and new and then they will realize it's not all that good. Seriously doubt it becomes meta.

  • Nemesis, Furtive Chase and Make Your Choice. It is kind of a meme build but can actually chain some pretty mean knockdowns. Furtive Chase makes it so when your obsession gets unhooked the person who did the unhooking becomes your obsession. Nemesis makes it so when you get a new obsession that survivor gets oblivious and you can see their aura for 4 seconds (also if the person you initially chase isn't your obsession you can just eat a pallet to make them your obsession). Make Your Choice makes it so you sit back at 32 meters from hooked obsession and then you have 4 seconds to track the person who did the unhooking and they have exposed and oblivious. Since they are your new obsession you can just do it all over again.

  • Okay so current tally-

Inner Strength is clear leader with 13 users.

Nemesis, Fixated, and Thrilling Tremors are all tied for 2nd with 6 users.

    Surg has 4 users.

Infectious Fright, Off the Record and Corrupt Intervention all had 3 users.

There are quite a few perks with 2 users or less.

Apparently Nancy was the best character released in the last year or so in terms of perks.

Off The Record because it allows me to use Object of Obsession without the penalty of giving yourself away. Works especially well when the killer is searching for you as well and best of all, you can heal without worrying about BBQ and Nurse's Calling. 😅

That is a pretty clever idea.

I don't run perks to straight up increase my odds of winning on either side, but rather pick perks based on how much fun I have with them without ruining the other sides experience. I also just think perks like Babysitter and Surge better fit my play-style compared to BT or PGTW.

Nobody likes to get hit by NOED or outplayed by Dead Hard so I just stopped running those perks.

So you are just a nice guy looking for a good time. Got it.

  • The casting looks good. I hope the acting and screenplay are on par! Excited to see what you guys come up with.

I'm kinda loving Infectious Fright, Fixated can be fun to screw around with.

Infectious Fright is pretty decent. Corrupt Intervention is alright too. But bear in mind Plague came out March 2019. She's already 15 months old. "New" is relative though. Some players might consider her new.

    I have multiple.

Killer: Surge, Blood Echo, Deathbound, and Trail of Torment.

Deathbound and Trail of Torment aren't out yet, but I know for sure that I will enjoy these perks.

Survivor: Babysitter, Camaraderie, Better Together, Red Herring, and Any Means Necessary.

You are a guy I want to talk to. Why run those perks over meta perks? Why use Babysitter over Borrowed Time for example? Is it just to mix it up or do you feel they really increase your odds of survival over other perk options. I can understand using Better Together if you are trying to complete a challenge that involves cooperative action. But just in general?

  • @TransverseCaster said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/160059/what-is-the-last-new-perk-that-became-part-of-your-regular-rotation

Inner Strength? I use it too, but only because it's imbalanced. It overrides Thanatophobia, Dying Light, Sloppy Butcher, etc. It heals in 8 seconds. All you have to do is get greedy and bust a totem to have it ready. It works terribly well in conjunction with Head On. I use it but honestly it needs to be nerfed.

No. It really doesn't. The absolute maximum number of times it can be used in an entire match is 5 times. And that is across all 4 survivors. It already has a built in balancing factor. If it ever became meta then it also becomes worse so that it won't be meta. And 8 second heal really isn't accurate either. It requires that you both find and cleanse a totem. Both of which take time. It's more like a 30-60 second heal with an upside of a cleansed totem.

  • It's really not a case of PGtW becoming an amazing perk all of the sudden. If Hex: Ruin wasn't nerfed then it would still be king. PGtW is just the current best option available to killers.

  • Lol who is this post addressed to? It feels like a private message that got accidentally posted in general forum.

  • @TransverseCaster said:

That's an interesting way of ensuring some use out of these perks. I'd be for those changes. It's probably better than what I suggested. Def wouldn't want these effects on other hexes though. It might be OP used with DH.

It would definitely be overpowered with some hex perks. I specifically picked the underused and less powerful ones to bring them more in line.

  • I just block all communication options for players when playing DBD. The game is infinitely more fun to play.

  • Lol, I think you just don't understand how the killer works.

  • Hex: Third Seal and Hex: Lullaby. Add the following text to both perks "The first time the active hex totem associated with this perk is cleansed if there is a dull totem available it becomes active for for this perk." I would even be okay with all progress toward the hex being lost. Lullaby loses tokens and those blinded by third seal are unblinded unless hit again.

  • If it happened I wouldn't throw a fit. I can't really think of a situation where I wished I could do this though.

  • I don't think it should be a permanent game option. But I've strongly felt for a long time that they need to introduce an alternate game mode rotation. I would be fine with something like this added as an alternate game mode that shows up every 3 months or so for a weekend. The newness would wear off pretty quickly though. It also would suck while trying to do challenges getting random garbage that doesn't help. It would also suck getting No Mither as a survivor. I think that particular perk should be removed.

  • I don't think this is even a debate. Nurse is the hardest to learn. Nothing else has even come close for me.

  • Most likely explanation is that you jumped out too early. Just like with pallets or flashlights, the killer has to have completed the pick up animation and be able to move before a stun will release the survivor. Other likely culprit is dedicated servers.

  • Lol, this reminds me so much of conversations I had with friends when I was a boy about which comic book character would win in a fight.

  • I don't particularly love the range killers. I'll admit that I'm not great at FPS games. Some of my missed shots are more than just embarrassing. I just pray that I'm not playing against any popular live streamers when I play ranged killers.

As far as killers I hate playing against, I hate playing against Doctor with a passion. That is by far the most miserable experience as a survivor. I don't really like playing as a survivor at all though.

  • You actually make some pretty well reasoned arguments. I don't completely agree with everything you said but I can at least agree conceptually. I disagree about Soul Guard though. It doesn't punish a killer for doing his job. It only punishes a killer for slugging. Which is a good thing for the health of the game. This game is pretty permissive in actions it allows the players to perform. Actions in other games that would be cause for banning are openly allowed and encouraged even. For example, if a killer hooks a survivor and then proceeds to beat the survivor like a pinata until the survivor is sacrificed there is absolutely no punishment for the killer. The argument is made that it is a strategic mistake and the other survivors will finish gens fast and likely escape if the killer does that. But what if the killer doesn't care about gens?

The killer just wants to be a jerk and ruin other players experience. There is absolutely no recourse for the survivor that went through that experience. Just suicide on hook (rewarding the killer), wait it out mashing a button pointlessly, maybe send a rage message after the game (again rewarding the killer since this is what the killer was hoping for). This isn't even a reportable offense. But if you send a rage message and he reports you then you can be punished for that.

I would argue that slugging is a similarly miserable experience for survivors. It isn't good for the health of the game for this kind of gameplay to exist. Soul Guard isn't even a hard counter to slugging. But at least it is something. If the killer doesn't slug then this perk is worthless. Just the fact that this perk exists will hopefully encourage killers not to slug as much. Just like NOED helps encourage survivors to actually cleanse totems.

  • I'll admit that when I read the thread title my interpretation was very different than what the OP intended. For example NOED is described as a noob perk. Now you can and apparently are arguing that it is a crutch perk only noobs feel the need to use and good killers don't need. But you can't really argue with results. It is objectively a good perk. My interpretation of the thread title was more in line with perks so bad that only noobs would use because they didn't know better. Which imho is a pretty long list. Like Zanshin Tactics, Monstrous Shrine and Furtive Chase would be good examples of a noob killer perks. Survivor side I would mention Windows of Opportunity, Technician, No Mither and Deja Vu.

  • This is easier said than done. Especially depending on what platform you are playing on. A lot of people also have restrictions on messages. On PS4 it's probably around 50% of players have restrictions to messages.

  • @Peanits said:

Not really afraid, no. We aren't setting out to make the new best perk every time we add one. We've always been sure to avoid making things pay to win, of course, but we also want to make interesting perks; things that let you make niche builds, allow you to make use out of something you might otherwise ignore, or make you reconsider the perks you'd run against it.

Simply put, it's easy to make the new best perk and ship it, but that is not and has never been the goal.

I've never heard a single person ask for this. We just want perks worth using compared to previously released perks. Let me give you an example of what I would consider playable perks using Conehead as an example.

Deathbound - this actually isn't too bad. Easily his most playable perk. If anything, I would reduce the range to 24 meters. Or possibly tie it to the killers terror radius. That could make for some interesting interactions with stealth killers. But I wouldn't be disappointed if it went live as is.

Forced Penance - this perk is just too narrow and doesn't really punish survivors enough for doing the one thing it's trying to prevent. Protection hits aren't super common to begin with and 30 seconds isn't enough to dissuade survivors from taking protection hits. What I would like to see happen for this perk is for the killer to get some kind of bonus for each character with broken status. For example if the killer got 1% bonus move speed for each survivor with broken. This would give a handful of killers capable of causing broken status by other means extra incentive to run this perk. For example, if Plague had this perk then it would give survivors real incentive to cleanse. This wouldn't in any way shape or form be game breaking but it would add an extra element of strategy and synergy. If a 1% move speed turned out to be too much then the number could be reduced or some alternative bonus like 8 meter lower terror radius per broken survivor could be used.

Trail of Torment - this is the biggest disappointment for most players because the potential for a great perk was there. But there are far too many restrictions. Either increase the duration, remove the generator aura, and/or lessen the cooldown. I think you could make pretty good arguments for any of those choices. Personally, I think removing the aura and reducing the cooldown to something like 60 seconds would put it in just about the right spot balance wise. Good enough to use but certainly not game breaking. Really, this is all we are asking for. "Good enough to use".

  • For me, it is unplayable. Not in the "I don't like it therefore it is horrible and unplayable" sense of the phrase either. I mean it is literally unplayable. I haven't been able to play for almost 2 months now due to a save error bug. Every time I log in I am kicked out with an error message within 5 minutes. Sometimes I'll get a match started only to be disconnected as the match would start. Literally unplayable. I've deleted the game and redownloaded. I've submitted help tickets. Nothing works. So yes. For some of us the game is indeed unplayable.

Im talking about game to game. You can go into a game as survivor with no items or add ons and be just fine. Killer you need add ons. So the cost of a game is more than for a survivor

You don't need add ons to play as a killer and it doesn't take long to build up a large pool of add ons to use anyway. I am not arguing that killers deserve less bloodpoints than survivors. No one is trying to take killers bloodpoints away. My argument is that my time is just as important when I play a survivor as when I play killer. My time deserves equal compensation.

  • @Dead_by_Gadfly said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1294391#Comment_1294391

I dont think it is a fair argument. It costs more bps to play as killer. You can go into a match as survivor with no items od add ons and do just fine, with most killers thats the opposite of true. So you have to get those bps back to make profit

It absolutely does not cost more bloodpoints to play as a killer. That is a fallacy. In terms of how many bloodpoints it takes to get all the survivor perks to rank 3 vs all the killer perks to rank 3, it takes substantially more bloodpoints for survivors since there are more survivor perks than killer perks. Also, there is no such thing as "killer bloodpoints" and "survivor bloodpoints". You should be able to play whatever you want, earn a reasonable amount of bloodpoints for your time and then spend them on whatever you want. The way it works now, if you wanted to level up a survivor the most efficient way to do it is to play killer. On what planet does that make sense?

  • The OP makes a pretty fair argument. They just need to end the bloodpoint disparity between time spent playing as a survivor vs a killer.

  • Okay. Everyone has been warned. Thanks.

  • Killers do that because it works. Just like survivors loop because it works. It's part of the game especially at higher ranks.

MoM: take 3 protection hits for a free hit immediately

WGLF: take 1 protection hit and gain a health state passively over 30 seconds

They might not be exactly the same, but WGLF definitely outclasses MoM by a landslide. Killers already complain about MoM from time to time.

No killer worth their salt complains about MoM. It is terrible. I would love if every survivor I went up against used it. Running around trying to get protection hits instead of working generators is the dream for a killer. The passive heal would only be outside of a chase. That is an important distinction. You can't just be chased by the killer and randomly get back to full health. If 30 seconds turns out to be too short then it could be extended to 45 seconds (anything past that would just be dumb). Anyway, it's just an idea on a forum that isn't going to happen so I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's just my opinion of what I think would be good.

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1280491#Comment_1280491

That sounds cool but how is it not just a straight up better MoM?

Because it doesn't actually stop the killer from downing you? It doesn't really even compare to MoM in it's functionality. It's more like second wind or inner strength. After the killer hits you and the perk activates the killer can still chase and down you like normal. You would have to escape and remain outside of a chase for 30 seconds to get the free heal. The perk would stack really well with MoM though so you could get the protection hits w/o wasting a ton of time or resources healing. 3 min cooldown would keep it from being too abusable.

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1280392#Comment_1280392

I like an idea someone else on the forums had, I think they said something like you see all of your team's auras and they all see yours for 11/13/15 seconds when you gain a WGLF stack. I think aura reading just suits the perk tbh.

I could live with that. I would prefer it had an effect that auto heals after taking a protection hit after 30 seconds of not being chased by the killer. Give it a long timer to balance it out like 300/240/180 seconds.

  • Terrible idea. I'm not trying to be mean. It's just super ineffective and not fun as the killer to work gens. If you are busy un-repairing a generator (which every killer in the game can do just by kicking the gen) what do you think the survivors are doing? They are finishing other generators! Even if you increased the ratio by an insane amount like for every 1 second the killer spend sabotaging a generator was equivalent to 10 seconds of repairing a generator, you are still totally wasting your time.

  • Victory Cube for killers. They had it perfect and screwed it all up with the emblem system.

1 … 21 22 23 24 25 … 71
