I play ps4 and it's not as nutty as on pc but there are death squads and gens do still go fast. Problem is mouse and keyboard allow killers to do mindgames better and allow for finer aiming with for example nurse, huntress, plague or even oni's flick while survivors dont really get affected by the use of a controller.
Speak for yourself, on the west coast when the sun falls, the true killers come out. Granted, I have been experiencing an uptick in potatoes at rank 3-2, I was playing Billy last night and these fools were literally trying to hide in front of me with my chainsaw rev'd in a pile of pussywillows... LIKE I LITERALLY TURNED MY CAMERA AT YOU, WHY ARE YOU STILL STANDING HERE?
It's survivors like this making it into red ranks that just really offset any kind of balance. Honestly, ######### the emblems, we should go back to balancing around kills because that's a tangible metric that doesn't overcomplicate the sauce, even if it sucked for killers piping.

Man I feel it’s the other way around. My survivor life goes by absolutely fast if IM the one that gets caught. Because I know I’m only getting hooked once. that’s because yeah like you said, they’re playing dirty for it. I just feel like there should be some kind of penalty if killers stay within a certain distance of a hooked survivor so people can’t just be invisible waiting on the hooked survivor trying to bait people and play dirty . Just go do GEN control or something. I’ve seen demogorgons do this with portals. You don’t need to kill every survivor 😂
Do I really need to explain to you why telling your opposition "you don't have to go for victory" is an oblivious statement?

I’m seeing a lot of people not bringing In toolboxes or items at all. Maybe people want to scavenge. Then again that takes time plus 5 gens and exit gates. This game really is about LB and RB interactions only for the survivors so lay off I’m trying to loot too 😂
Lmao now I get it, he plays on Xbox..

True it shouldn't affect emblems. I was just saying this change could be implemented without hurting anyone if the devs do it right. Apparently every change to this game can only hurt it. Thank you for the civil response, and I appreciate a fellow forum-goer.
Right on brother. I'm to the point where getting my feathers too ruffled over the game is getting tooooo old, and beside I know at the end of the day were mostly just all folks who want to have fun in the game.

Disagree my friend. I do and I don't even slug the injured guy. Just go around and get the unhooker. But I also don't care about rank anymore and have switched to majority of survivor.
I myself despise tunneling off the hook. I think it is as low skill a tactic as a killer can get.
But that said it is part of the game and deserves no punishment. But if you are a tunneling killer you lose your right to complain about ds, gen rush, and looping. You are kinda asking for it. Imo.
If that's your hang up, I see why you aren't playing killer so much these days. I play surv more and you know what's the best part about being camped/tunneled? After that I can go look for another game, I don't have to suffer through a simple mistake I made costing me the whole games on many maps, and having to seethe through a whole nother 4-8 mins of a losing game.
Just as much as killers aren't entitled to 4 K every game, survs aren't to surv, or even get multiple gens and loops done in a single trial. That's the beauty of having the benefit of getting taken out early for a mistake you or others made. And let's not forget, you have opportunities before you even get hooked to evade and avoid the killer. You aren't always the one getting tunneled/ camped out.

I was suggesting a buff to killer's overall bp, with a small stipend that makes hooking the same survivor over and over less efficient for bp gains. This means BONUS bp for risking going after a healthy person, not LOST bp for tunneling. Sure hooking the same survivor 3 times in a row will get you less bp than before, but I think hooking the same survivor twice in a row(within a certain time frame) would have pretty much the same bp as now. Just a small reward for those that are considerate, just like objective points will reward those who are considerate enough to not bring a toolbox.
My guy, you are trying to theory craft the most boring and one sided experience ever into this game.
"top of the evening to you, GF!"
"aye, how are ya lad, how's the haunting treating ya?"
"Fair as a maiden, me Lord"
"Say mate, would you happen to have been hooked yet today? Need a good hooking?"
"Oh no, man, appreciate the offer but I've a bit of a full belly from the las' in."
"Ah, guess I'll get you next time. Tip of the hat to ya lad"
Survivor teabags at exit gate
"GG EZ"
"Well ain't that the bloomin' way.."
I see your going for paragon of the forums, I appreciate you're trying to not be one sided on any of these discussions.. But is this suggestion the hill you want to die on?
Penalize killer for tunneling? Yea, that damn OTZ game everyone was talking about for two days, the one where he tunneled the Yui towards the end? This guy's suggestion would have turned that from a brutal killer to a de-pip. Sometimes tunneling is necessary and there shouldn't be anything other than DS that encourages not tunneling, because slowdown has been scaled back again and devs will never touch gens speeds. At most we've a vague promise that they look at toolboxes going forward.

I'm on ps4 and I agree with him for the most part. I play at all different times of day, US East as well as red ranks. I normally play Wraith, Myers, Doctor and Freddy using the Spirit Fury/Enduring/BBQ/4thPerk as my main build but switching it up depending on how I'm feeling. I've been playing since just before Clown was released and in my time I have seen maybe 1 squad I could consider a deathsquad that made me think, I could never have won this game no matter what I did or how I played.
Against SWF's I'll usually have a tough game but whether I win, lose or draw will depend on the map as well as how many mistakes I made during the match and how well they played as a team. A lot of factors go into it but I feel like I always had the chance to win if I do end up losing.
Against your average group of people I will almost always 3k as I normally don't worry about hatch and I'll also just give hatch to people if I curbstomped them and got my BBQ stacks already. I don't camp unless the gates are powered in which case I will camp to secure a kill or down more people if they plan to be altruistic. I do slug if the situation calls for it and I almost always try to secure some kind of 3-gen strat from the beginning if possible.
So from my own experiences, I would say I get an obvious SWF group in maybe 1 of 5 matches in which the game can very well go either way depending on the circumstances. The other 4/5 matches I will normally win unless I mess up hard or they pull off some crazy good plays. The 1in100 deathsquad will curbstomp me as they would almost anyone.
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure some people do have bad luck and face deathsquads more than you're average joe but more often than not people will think they're facing a group of gods when in reality it's just a normal SWF and they played awfully while using awful perks on an awful map.
Just my own opinion from my experiences of the game so far. ^_^
Eh, I hear you, but I've been playing since right before LF came out. Red rank killer for two years and some change. There have been several life events and changes to my living status to the point I'm currently back in California.
Here, the death squads are quite real and come out at night. Hell, I took a long hiatus, came back to rank 14 killer in a new region of the US, and got only red rank and purple rank survs, so even if I wanted to I can't avoid these groups unless I just don't play. But I agree to a point, maps and gen speeds with toolboxes are what affect this game for the worse right now.

waters not actually wet by definition, water may make objects wet as something needs to be dry before it comes wet. but either way survivor is too easy and boring, a decent survivor team will ######### on nearly all killers, hell i solo que and random perk wheel and i still escape way too much, some games i de-pip because they went too fast. balancing around people who are scared to do gens or just stay in a terror radius and cant even lead on a chase shouldnt even be near red, probably green rank at best, i shouldnt get rank 2`s who miss skillchecks, hide 90% of the match around the edge or lead on 5 second chases... not a red rank
Upvote strictly for the water is wet cliche takedown. It's always markedly false, water is a liquid, it can't by definition get wet.
Other than that, no idea what you both were discussing, carry on.

Yea, I added like 30 people to my switch friends list before I realized I have a barrier to interacting with them. Maybe I should have given the app a try at least once, but It seemed like a major inconvenience that I shouldn't have had to bother with in the first place if Nintendo weren't trying so hard to endear their console to parents of 10 year olds. But then again that just is me being bitter about a gaming console that SHOULD be catering to 10 year olds.

The fact that he can be looped and can only 1 shot you out of position or get you on a curve is the only reason i think he is pretty balanced, maybe on the higher end of that said balance but still he's rewarding and has the tools to do his job.
Exactly, he's where most killers should be balance wise because he can be quite stress inducing when played well, but still defeatable. Whenever I escape vs. a Billy, I think to myself "what a ######### rush, I can't believe I made it out". When I survive against a GF or Michael Myers I think to myself "What am I gonna eat for dinner" although to be fair I'm thinking that in the middle of a game with them as well.

If you don’t wanna believe me or think my situation is a one of, watch OhTofu okay 9pm same region at red ranks and watch the survivors he goes against. He’s constantly saying things like, “not to be rude but these survivors clearly don’t belong in red,” so maybe you’re just lucky to have all good survivors where you’re from
Funny you mention, because I think that's EXACTLY it honestly. I'm playing on the west coast, and honestly I haven't seen a survivor try to heal at a pallet with no purple add on health kit since Self Care was nerfed. The only early pallets I face are when I play Doc, Clown, or Freddy. Also I'm currently rank 10 and ONLY face red to purple ranks survivors unless SWF is also present and brought a surprise guest.
That's exactly why I wanted to know region and time. Rank, doesn't so much matter to me. And I wasn't calling an indictment on your ability to reach red or anything, so please don't think that.

Hillbilly is pretty overrated, but yeah the survivors were just not afraid of doing gens.
I mean I don't disagree with that. He's actually called OP by some in this very forum. But he was my first main, and I'll say he's still amongst the top tier of killers as far as raw ability to pressure and chase.
I would never call him a crutch killer or anything, but his design does make up for some lenient balance design philosophy.. Most of the time. Some maps just aren't made with him in mind.

Not at all, an optimal team with toolboxes and any looping ability Otz gets zero kills. But that type of team is so rare, I mean I know all killers like to use the excuse of “SWF deathsquad,” because I used to do it myself. Then you start realizing that those teams aren’t common at all even at red ranks.
I don't want this to come out wrong, but I'd love to know what time zone you play in as well as what system, because you will never hear that coming from a PS4 player. The culling usually begins at around 5pm, that's when survivor mode activates. Also, the average pool of survivor is getting better anyway, Solo survivor isn't that great of a hindrance if you are actually independently good at survivor in my opinion anyway... I'm rank 7 and survive, oh, maybe between 60- 75% of my games? But I don't play SWF especially now because I'm wait in lobby 60 minaphobic.
Now to be fair I do only play against red ranks.... But to be fair I'm currently rank 10, so yes, quite a few games can and have gone like this, even tho I still get my occasional 4K still and usually earlier in the day I can generally do fine. Maybe I'll upload games again and start sharing what I find while playing weaker killers (Although I'll say this... I get results with Legion quite often, and can still 4 iri with him, that travel speed and distance actually brings up a good point about one of the precieved worst killers).

First disclosure, I do think gen time could stand to be increased a bit and the game is survivor sided at high ranks, but...
Everyone in an uproar about that Otz youtube where he was constantly chasing and downing people and they still managed to finish four gens, how many of your teams are really like that?
As survivor I can lead the killer on a two minute chase and literally not see one gen pop, then find out one teammate was following us and the other is crouched in a corner.
As a killer I’ve lost mind games or ate a stupid DS and still managed a 4K with 4 gens left. Did I play well, not really, but survivors have some weird phobia to actually accomplishing anything useful.
So yes, that game video shows how unbalanced it can be at a certain level with certain addons, but again let’s not act like you even see that 1/10 games.
Wait, I'm confused... So now we're saying the survivors in that game were playing optimally??????
Those guys were pretty ######### and still got to the point they did. The whole discussion is look how hard he had to sweat against survivors that weren't even that good using TOP TIER killer Hillbilly. I mean give me a break, how many times did those survivors literally give up the one shot?

A multiplayer game concept as simple Dbd shouldn't cost someone high blood pressure. Lol True story.
Point being not everyone has time to become God Killers. No offense to my survivor friends I know many don't have time to master survivor either.
To be honest I think the days of casual play is over for the killer role and is never coming back. Either play sweaty or Play for fun and depip and get message Ez Every game. Sorry for being a little salty. I play red rank killer so don't say I am noob. I only play 2hrs a day if I'm lucky.

Hell I've been getting those messages for too long to care at this point, it's just disgusting to unload so much undo negativity onto someone who you played a 10 min game with, like where do these kids get the energy?
Hell, I remember one game I had where I killed 2 of the team during the game, lol a whole 15 mins later I get a message from one of the survivors saying they posted a video of me on Facebook... Ok. Apparently he was sending it to a DBD (survivor) Facebook group with, I don't even remember how many people attached. And wouldn't you know it, the whole page was about throwing shade at the killer players and "tunneling ez killers" basically a whole page of name and shame.
The most hilarious part was he should me the video he said he took.... I wasn't in the video at all. Same things could have been said with all “survivor second chance” perks.
The way he explained his reasoning isn't great, but what he's expressing is simple enough- Survivors have more than enough tools to handle their business without the use of stacked second chance perks, but they enhance the survivors immensely. Meanwhile, for most killers perks ARE there only tools, and those tools more often than not require work on the killer side, or else they require direct action from the killer to achieve. Honestly I don't think Survivors have MANY second chance perks, but DS is absolutely one of them because DS is essentially inevitable, you can't take the effects of it away from survivors, which is either
A. 60 second immunity
B. Compelling killer to slug in a bad position where they may not want to slug you or in a time where slugging you is inefficient, or
C. A perk that gives you one free escape, which is made even worse when you consider the killer may have downed you next to a jungle gym or shack.

It's in the title, people are arguing about the perceived existence of second chance perks on one side or another, and the guy you were speaking to was arguing against the idea of Spirit Fury as a second chance perk.

-
@brokedownpalace said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1060804#Comment_1060804
That's such nonsense. There's plenty of times it's a good idea to drop a pallet early. Funny you can't just admit you're wrong
What I love about your idea supporting Spirit fury as a second chance perk is
A. In the scenario you describe where the survivors are dropping pallets early, this means that Spirit fury doesn't come into play then, does it?
B. If that's the case, it also means Spirit fury can't be considered a second chance perk, because say surv A drops pallets early against you, and you drop them after the required tokens are acheived, Surv B takes you to a pallet loop thinking they're safe with the pallet stun, then boom Spirit fury activated; well that's absolutely not a second chance because you were planning for that.
And there my friends is the inherent distinction between a second chance perk and an insurance perk; Second chances arise from scenario's that you can't control but a universal tool keeps you safe, where as insurance perks are banked on and planned on.
So for instance, the difference between DS and Adrenaline is with Adrenaline, you plan and invest on seeing that benefit at the end of the game one way or the other, if you died before then it wouldn't have mattered so you play it with intention. DS is a perk you may not even need to use depending on how the match unfolds, it punishes the killer for playing by creating an artificial rule he has to subject himself to, and there is no real way to counter the perk when it's active. But the really defining contrast is DS doesn't require anything on the survivor side, there is no investment other than adding the perk to a slot.
NOED also doesn't require the killer any investment for it to activate, so it would be considered a second chance perk EXCEPT remember what I said about being able to counter the perk? NOED will never even trigger if Survivors break all the totems. This means NOED is more of a late game gamble than an actual second chance perk. DS will always activate when a Survivor gets off the hook with it, that perk could never fall under the term useless because it's very existence means at best, you are invincible for 1 whole minute to be as reckless as you want, and at worst, you get slugged on the ground, which if you can dictate when the killer slugs, is actually a strong benefit to your team as the killer is gambling not advancing the hook state for a chance to snowball, and typically the risk isn't worth it if you aren't within earshot of another survivor.

So I talk about survivors that are better than both of us still dying despite you claiming how easy it is to "just loop." You then mockingly say "Better" as if no one could be better than us, then just randomly transition into an attack on my skill level even though I involved both of us in the original comparison to better players.
What is wrong with you
And final point from me of the night.... Survivors can still pip from dying, in fact as long as you engaged with the killer for any amount of time above 20 seconds and were halfway done with a gen, you're pretty much already saftey piped.
Honestly, my biggest issue and the one O think the guy you're arguing with (whose not doing the greatest job of advocating for himself, but I get where his minds at) is that to just keep your head above water as a killer, you must sweat blood and sacrifice your soul to the entity, while as a survivor, most of your game is literally you deciding when is the best, safest point to go show your ass to the killer. You don't have to sweat unless you either want to sweat, or you just want to get the most out of looping the killer.
I also don't sympathize with the solo survivor problem anymore, because honestly you just can't account for it, it's not nearly as hopeless as almost every Survivor main claims it is (I actually prefer solo surv because I just don't always feel like talking during the game, I'd rather listen to music) and your teammates inability to play at the level you doesn't even necessarily have a bearing on how your game will go. Also, with ruin nerfed, a lobby full of ransoms has never been more empowered!

I'd argue even a single Ivory Mori used in a tunnely fashion is stronger than anything a survivor could possibly bring, barring maybe a Key (which I think are also dumb).
Actually a funny point you made here. I suggested the same thing, that keys are basically the equivalent of Mori's...although I think Keys are stronger, because for one a Mori penalizes the killer via emblems, where as Keys allow the person who used it and basically anyone else who escapes a free pip, or at least a safety pip. Killer can actually quite easily depip for using a Mori, although it's less likely with a green one because you still have access to the additional hook states.

Ask yourself: how many people who have played for a long time consider this a horror game? How many people stuck around for the horror aspect? How many people would stop playing if this became a genuine horror game with a power role and a role meant to be stomped?
I knew I'd stop playing. I wouldn't play killer because I like a challenge and being considerably more powerful than my opposition wouldn't be one (and I don't have that borderline creepy power thrist a lot of killer players seem to have). I wouldn't play survivor because I don't like games that are rigged against me.
People don't play DBD for the horror aspect. Not the people who stuck around. When they want horror they look for another game. I'm sorry but you're just plain wrong here, this game would've died a long time ago if that's how it worked.
######### you just said you wouldn't play this game if you kept getting stomped as Survivor.... Well fool, guess why survivor que times are so low
And I feel like I always have to lay this disclaimer out, but I've been playing this game at red ranks for almost 2 years before I left. Came back to rank 14, leveled to about 10, started getting nothing but red ranks and then the ruin nerf happened. Basically because I don't 4K double pip to red ranks because I'm matched with people that actually match my skill level, I don't get to go to red ranks anymore I guess.
This game is no longer the game it was back then, most survivors who play have 1000's of hours experience, know the tiles and loops, and are starting to play like the survivors in Pig of the Huts old 100 games experiment, but everyone disregarded that ######### because "Oh, survivors don't play like that, most the time I get paired with a survivor who just hides in lockers all game" as if that meant the very obvious imbalance wasn't there all along, latent, insidious as a camping bubba pro.
Hell, even Scott Jund, The Survivor players trophy killer main, in this very thread FINALLY admits this game is SURVIVOR SIDED ding ding ding we got a ######### winner folks. But these creeps will deny and deflect and gaslight the ######### out of people who PRIMARILY play killer, like we don't know what's what because we don't experience the other side or some BS, meanwhile my survivor is sitting at rank 7 from about 17 because that's how much I cared about the easy mode of this game for years.

All I can say is I can't wait for this to be disregarded by mains who will talk about what "the fog whisperer's" say, or their own anecdotal evidence from before 4pm in the afternoon..

The best games get you hooked like heroin!
Nothing says "well done" quite like a dopamine loop!
I do enjoy my competitive games for that high, but honestly fighting games and other competitive games are about as high for me. The thing this game does for me no other game can is it's concept. This type of game concept doesn't come out too often

Yes the pipping system is bad in some ways, but he was already r1 right?
I think he was at least red rank, but yea, it probably didn't hurt him much I. The grand scheme lol, I think that's the whole reason he submitted a review is to see why he only got Brutal

Maybe people on this forum are speaking in hyperbole for melodramatic effect, but it's not uncommon to see people write:
"I'm "furious / disgusted / depressed" with ( x ) change ... "
"The difference between this game play and other game plays is "frightening / nauseating / infuriating"
Just keep an eye out for those kinds of descriptions and you'll see what I'm talking about.
This game works like something of an addiction, it's kind of by design. It's not surprising that it has that affect on those who play it the most, it's like you know you probably should leave it alone after a while but something compels you to come back to it.

Didn't that guy in the Tofu review only get 2 kills? I wouldn't call that a loss or anything, but he also played that GF almost perfect and still didn't pip, so...

Just wanted to share my experience...not playing against players of your skill level is frustrating.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think every killer belonged in the red ranks that got there pre nerf, some killers did get carried to an extent, but honestly wish matchmaking as it is right now, it doesn't really matter anyway. Rank 18's playing against full red ranks. Everyone's tired of it

I recently quit playing killer. I just found it rather boring, so many potato survivors that it's not even worth it to look for a match when I won't even get a challenge.
Boo, get off the stage

So this whole post was basically to ######### on anyone who said positive/chaotic neutral things about ruin and anything negative about it's nerf. This is basically a bait post. Hopefully they delete this faster than they delete my posts to favor protected class posters..

I'm just a rank 14 and the game sometimes puts me with purple/red ranks. I've thought about quitting many times, because it feels bad going against people who know what they're doing while I'm still learning. I even made a dramatic vow to never try killer again, lol.
Though, I did eventually try again because I thought killer just seemed so much more interesting than survivor. But, it became obvious pretty quickly that I was going against higher ranks. Again. In the end, I got one person on the hook. I would have gotten two, but someone did a flashlight save (which I didn't even know was a thing). Anyway, when the gates opened two of them stayed behind and kept motioning me to follow them, so I did. Then they kept pointing at the hooks. They wanted me to hook them, so I did. And after the game, they gave me tips.
They probably pitied me and wanted me to at least get some points, but what I appreciate most was the post-game chat where they took the time to give me tips. They even threw in a gg when they knew damn well they demolished me.
Stuff like that, though extremely rare, kept me from quitting. But it's really hard for new killers to learn when we're constantly being thrown in with people who know how to play already. I want to be a "killer main," but I'm not exactly having the best time trying to learn.
I'm sorry to say it will almost never get better. Even the killers who claim they are out there 4king like nothing new happened are only saying that because killer has always been pretty stressful. But I think Survivors in general are getting good to the point Killers have diminished ability to really deal with. We all had to know based on Pig of the Huts old experiment with 100 killer games against SWF that it was only inevitable this game would become mostly SWF dominant and therefore, heavily imbalanced when it eventually reached that point. I can't even say we're 100% there now, but it will be the point of death for DBD if they don't take quick corrective action. Dunking on killer is too fun for many to not get better at doing

Translation:
Lots of egos are still bruised because they refuse to find a way to play better. Lots of entitled players think they deserve to be R1-3 because they've clocked a lot of hours in the game.
Spoiler Alert: if you depending on Ruin to get you that far and you refuse to adjust, you probably aren't half as good as you're convinced you are.
The re-work was brilliant for the rest of us. The re-work has created an entire new meta and opened up a wide array of combos that make the game more challenging and exciting for both survivors and killers.
There's nothing that will change my mind, so arguing with me is pointless.
Absolutely obnoxious and full of ######### statement BTW. Scott Jund is a killer streamer who has went out on a limb to say the maps needed addressing before the ruin nerf.
Also, matchmaking is F'd up anyway, I play against red ranks almost exclusively and I'm rank 10. I wouldn't use that as any barometer of skill at this point, especially if you're playing survivor..

Yes, that's exactly what a skill ceiling is.
If you think using your ears and winning guessing games that are rigged in your favor in the first place has more skill expression than knowing the potential for a chainsaw in every single loop/tile in this game, I'd say you're objectively wrong, and that the overwhelming majority of people who play this game for a living would agree with me. If you're born with ears and the minimum of situational awareness you should NOT lose survivors while you're phasing. Not even if they're using Iron Will.
I also play fighting games buddy. And many other kinds of competitive games. That doesn't make you special, nor does it make your point more valid.
And I honestly don't feel like discussing this with someone who can't display a tad of civility when disagreeing with someone so goodbye
Did you report my comment?

Oh wow... My comments get deleted all the time now I guess, even when I don't curse... That's BS

I was on a break and deranked back to 18. I had plenty of matches where the survivors were complete newbies and were asking me to take it easy on them. Then there were matches where I was being paired against purples and reds at rank 18. If I was a new killer I wouldn't play this game after seeing that. I feel bad for newbie killers getting thrown into the fire like that.
I'm much in the same boat, though your break seems like it was longer than mine.. all the way back to rank 18?
But yes, matchmaking is #########. After my break I was out to rank 14 and been slowly trying to get back up, but I'm finding it pointless as at rank 10, the only games I seem to get are red ranks or SWF red ranks with a guest appearance. MMR might as well be implemented at this point. #########, just get rid of ranks period so mixed skills can play together and force everyone to get better
