That's the main reason why the developers added License killers and survivors into Dead by Daylight because a lot of people wanted it in the game.

To be clear, I wouldn't mind a FNAF chapter in DBD, but I dislike how people, not you, keep judging others because they like a game they don't like. This needs to stop.

So you want people.... To not form opinions of things? Is that what this breaks down too?

There are more than 3 good reasons off the top of my head why this chapter doesn't work based on game lore

  • @Hag.is.Dtier said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/951675#Comment_951675

Hag is fine on console. The only thing I hate is the low camera angle. I've seen some great console, Huntress players recently.

No I know hag is fine, I actually used to main her myself. I was talking about nurse and huntress being harder to play, but I've seen great players of both onconsole as well.

  • Oh, ok that's fair. I know plenty of people who've played both since the begining and they say it's definitely harder to play hag and nurse on console. I don't have my own word to go on by because I never played on PC, but I personally don't feel too hindered while playing nurse... But O definitely do playing huntress, and I out some time into her in the beginning. She was one of my first mains too

  • I don't know why you're arguing, he's obviously right and I've been playing longer than you. I mean your name is Hag is D-tier, you don't exactly have the credit to speak with any authority based on residence

  • Don't know if someone's already covered it, but honestly, the biggest issue I face playing this game on console at all is what happens to my controller...

For some reason I've noticed this weird thing where if I use a controller in this game alot, for some reason the left thumb stick will wear to the point that if you try to strafe left slightly or change your angle a few degrees, it gets really sticky and as killer, hinders my movement. It's like I stepped on a tack every time I need to make a slight adjustment to my Chase..

it's very frustrating, but it's definitely a hardware thing as I've done it to 2 controllers now

  • See, this is all a stupid, very round about way of addressing an issue that's very simple to fix.. Just give the killer full points for a DC, treat it as a full sacrifice with 3 hooks. It helps pip them up to where they should be while de-piping the player who DC's so they are separated and that mean ol' killer who brought a Mori or played spirit plays with mean ol' survivors who run full meta SWF comms and the DCer can play with the other simple creatures who just want "A fUn GaME". Also give the other survivors more additional points for basically having a forfeit game.

Seriously, these devs take the whole pip system way to seriously to begin with. There's absolutely no reason in a game where rank is essentially an artificial gate between trash and ok players (because let's face it, literally anyone with 100 hours can get to rank 1 unless they're handi-capable) to not just give points towards piping out. This game isn't some indie marvel that just happened upon success anymore, it's a fullfledged property with support and backing from major horror IP holders. They don't need to stick so rigidly to their old terrible ideas of what this game should be. Ranks don't need to be taking so seriously, and who really cares if players are getting more BP? That shouldn't be their excuse for leaving the game in such a state where on player can ruin the game for 5 others.

maybe! I am more affected when playing killer, there is no doubt about it. Yesterday I was playing on the swamp map and twice the game just kind of "skipped"! I even had to stop for a second and think "where am I?"... hahah

Other times the frames drop so much that I just can't keep track of the survivors.

But it's not bad ALL the time, otherwise the game would be unplayable. I still think it's valid to bring this stuff up, not for being negative, but just so the devs know we have problems, you know...

Oh yeah, I agree. Who knows! If they listened to is and finally made console Oni manageable to play, they may infcat not be completely deaf to us! Exciting times lmao

  • @FogNoob said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/911301#Comment_911301

Man, if you think controls are the only problems with the console version you are way off... My main problem would be the frame rate and frequent frame drops. Add on top of that all the glitches everybody else already have to deal with and it can get really bad some times.

But I'll give them that.. they were fast on releasing this improvement for console players, so not complaining on that! =)

I have over 2,500 hours in this game, the frame rate is massively improved since I first started, and I've adapted to it long ago, so I'm not too hurt that they refuse to fix it. I mean my first favorite killer was Doctor (no relation) and he was atrocious with bugs and just causing all kinds of frame skips etc. But I have heard some players are more affected than others, so I may just be lucky

  • I thought you said you play on console? From what I hear the console version of Oni is better than he was, did you try him after the hotfix?

  • I mean, I haven't tested it, but it seems to me now Survivors have to avoid blood orbs and injured players are forced to heal now because of the stackable aura read from absorbed orbs... I think it's to early to call it a straight nerf

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Controller play has improved significantly he feels a lot better.

Wow, if that's true then it seems all those who always downcast us console players concerns because "it's not made for us" can eat crow

  • @theArashi said:

Don't worry. In the last patch devs did a wonderful job of fixing ONI.

Now he is just as bad on PC as he was on console. Good job devs. You outdid yourself.

Oh now it's a problem because it affects Y'all?

Chickens coming home to roost never made me sad

  • Well, it looks like they might have fixed Oni's controller issue, also from what I gather it actually looks like a net buff for the guy to have stacking aura reveal. Honestly I still to this day preferred old Freddy anyway..

  • People are crying about Billy with a timer? I really don't understand, is it that his blood power gives him limited tracking as well? Seriously, ######### is this about snowball? Billy and Oni do well on exactly the same maps, the only diff is Oni has his.insta without dash, but it still needs charging...

Seriously, can someone explain it? Or is it just going to be "oh how do you block LOS? how do you loop a killer with such a HUGE frame that takes longer to circle loops? How do you HIDE FROM THE KILLER?"

When I do I get genrushed and tea bagged at the exit gates so no thanks

I’d rather be the one tea bagging

You can teabag them back as ghost face while you face camp. It takes time, but overall your skill expression as killer means more because you can't be let undone by others. You'd eventually get good to the point ((most)) games wouldn't be frustrating.

  • Join the killer side

  • It's pretty pointless now, you're right. I haven't used it since it was changed, because to me as it is now, it only really works as a beginner perk. Once you know the tiles for the most part and where Survivors will go, having to literally see them at all times isn't necessary, especially since there are better perks for tracking as it is

  • @Marcus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/902785#Comment_902785

They added Undetectable on EW1 Myers, which makes him vulnerable against detection perks like Spine Chill or Premonition. Yes, he is less reliant on Monitor and Abuse, but now his EW1 gets hurt by perks he used to counter before this change. So EW1 is really weak against survivors who either listen for his breathing, either run Spine Chill, and they can keep him there for a pretty long time.

🤯 WWWWHAT?? I haven't played Michael since I returned, what a horrible decision! EW1 Michael builds were already weak and situational enough!

Now they go and remove the only unique benefit of playing Michael? That ######### sucks... I mean there is no way that ######### was over preforming and I don't remember a single thread asking for it to be nerfed since I was last here, why would they even do that? Literally no point moving at 110% just to see through walls when survivors will basically know to run when spine chill triggers... I'm fairly disgusted with that

  • As a killer main, personally I wouldn't even hate a penalization for facecamping tbh. It won't stop killers who don't care about rank anyway, as rank up has no incentive.

However, I also think this game is mostly balanced at this point and doesn't really need anymore changes at the current time. I hate what they did to Nurse, but other than that I think everything's fine. Don't mind DS, don't mind BT too much. Oni is fine imo, so is Freddy and Spirit.

The games frustrating like most games when you lose and feel there's nothing you can do. But we're all still here, to some degree or another, so despite the frustration it's really fine, and until they overnerf/compensate on everything, I say it should stay mostly where it's at now

Oni is a Billy on cooldown. We complain about a Billy on cooldown here guys.

Yes, his ability is arguably better than Billy's chainsaw, but the thing is, it should be, because he actually has a limited power, while Billy doesn't. If you make Demon Dash weaker than Billy's chainsaw, then you just made Oni worthless.

I saw a lot of Onis destroying and getting destroyed by survivors, so I don't see him overperforming at all. His early game is very weak and I don't know why people complain about "not being able to avoid getting hit", you definitely can avoid being hit for a good amount of time with the current map design, not forever, but enough for gens to start popping. After all, a bad early game can be enough for a killer to lose the match.

Oni's power only last for 45 seconds and he loses 7 seconds of it everytime he downs a survivor, so that means that against survivors spreading out and able to avoid getting down quickly by dropping pallets earlier or make him hit his lunge by some debris, he won't get more than 1 down with his Blood Fury. He needs add-ons for his ability to actually have a very good snowball potential. Also, his Dash speed is slower than Billy's chainsaw speed and he needs a purple and a green add-on for his Dash speed to be on par with Billy's chainsaw.

Yes, Oni is a better Myers, but I don't see it as Oni being too strong, I see it as Myers being too weak. After all, Myers is an outdated killer who got hit hard by the Undetectable changes. He definitely needs some buffs ( not as much as other killers tho ).

This was my rant. But I personally don't care about Oni, so you can nerf him into the ground and I couldn't care less.

Well said. I think I missed the undetectable changes that affected Myers, would you mind explaining that?

Allow me to paint you a picture but firstly, you're being obstinate and also unnecessarily disparaging, so chill your dongles while you're ahead buddy. Just because they know of someone and have examples of someones game-play doesn't make them a fan, doesn't make them biased.

I've never watched that streamer in my life and only know his name because of Cryoatic does that magically make me biased towards x or y because I know the streamers name and who he knows as a person? No it does not. Perhaps you need to fix your cranial rectal syndrome before you start deciding things that people are or aren't.

Furthermore, this picture I'm going to paint for you - because this streamer is more of a survivor player and did exceedingly well on Oni, you realize that illustrates exactly what the main post and poster have been saying? That the killer is OVER-TUNED

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/902714#Comment_902714

I have heard from a few ex-console people that the game honestly was never really meant to be a console game. I feel for your plight although I have no personal knowledge of whether or not the actual killer is as you say on console. I hope that they can bring consoles to a better place health wise in the future.

However the state of the consoles does not in any way have a bearing on the majority of the player base (PC) and whether or not the killers are incredibly weak/powerful for them. That's like me telling you that your game of golf is wrong and you're being stupid because I know all the rules to pool. It's apples to oranges.

ScottJund is a killer main, actually..

Also, most of you who have problems with him don't have near as many hours as ScottJund whose been here since Beta. He's actually an exceptional killer with a couple of killers specifically, but he also sympathizes more with the Survivors side. Not a bad thing, but it does impact how he views the game, which many forget is simply an opinion, and there are killers just as good of not better who also DON'T agree with him.

  • Quite an impressive resume. I'm not familiar with many of the games you have had a hand in creating, aside from splinter cell, but I'm sure many of us fansr appreciate the opportunity to speak with and pick the mind of one of the balance designers.

As someone whose been a fan of this game~to varying degrees, I have a question or two, some along the lines of which I'm sure you were expecting to be presented with at some point when creating this thread.

I first want to ask, what was the reason you chose to adjust both nurse's add-ons and her base kit?

I can agree, the only truly skillful thing in this game is the chase, gens and hiding get extremely boring.

And I agree, we not very far from true balance, we are in an alright spot now, but issues are still here, and discussions and feedback by the community like what has happened here is what is going to fix and solve the issues of this game, if we can adjust certain things with survivors and killers, like certain Killer Powers and perks, survivor items and perks. We could have so much potential in this game and it is incredible to know we are getting closer to this.

I like your positivity I must admit. I just lost faith in this community for the most part

  • Again, the only reason that's the only engaging part of the game is because the devs didn't create anything exciting for survivors to do besides work on gens. Even hiding is the most boring thing ever and it could be so much more engaging as evidenced by Friday the 13th (this game did get some ideas right).

But that's besides the point. Where we're at now as far as actually having a balanced game? The games pretty much balanced already, minus some of the fun of course. If you really wanted true balance in this game, not based on emotions, that would dictate a 2.5 kill rate. At least.

  • I would personally ban half the Ps4 community for this game if this ######### had any real effect. Tbh I don't care, salt is hilarious and if you can't handle it in 2019, you should start observing ESRV ratings again

  • @ScottJund said:

I don't know why people even debate this. You have to balance equally for both. That is the correct and only philosophy. If you balance too far for the 1v4, you begin ignoring the skill of the survivor and if you balance too far for the 1v1 you begin ignoring the skill of the killer.

That's stupid because individual survivor skill BY DESIGN should not match killer aptitude. You may have been here since day one, Scottjund, but you do not know the first thing about GAME BALANCE, and almost no one does in an asymmetrical game by definition. In fact, I doubt you even have a firm grasp on math based on much of your assessment of the game, because the math matic formula dictates that a killer of equal skill to the survivor team should average 2.5 kills at least!

This game is a non-competitive online horror game. It shouldn't even be about survival half the time for "survivors' it should of be an engaging experience outside of survival alone, but the developers saw fit to go for the easiest endorphin trigger possible by commiting to the simple concept of "us vs. them" when they could have taken an approach to survivor play similar to games like dark souls or Ark where death can pretty much be expected unless you reach the Pinnacle of skill and can to a degree, outplay your teammates.

It's a competition to survive amongst comrades, not a competition against the killer... But the game design philosophy confuses that

  • This whole thread is survivor logic 101... You know HIDING IS A PART OF THE GAME, don't blame us because the developer doesn't build metrics around it, but anyone whose played when Claudette was a really dark knows hiding is a viable part of the game. If 1v1 chase was specifically what this game was built around at any point, why doesn't the killer have a mini map and play in 3rd person?

  • In the same way that gen rushing is working to efficiently complete your objective, so to is tunneling and occasionally camping. There are scenarios in which camping is THE best solution for optimal play, and tunneling? More than always the best way to effectively complete killer objective. The only difference is people feel the need to punish optimal killer play. I get it, optimal killer play makes the game unfun for Survivors... Well, what do you think optimal Looping, Keys, DS/BT and gen rushing do for killers?

The only solution is for both sides to quit bitching over balance and accept to a degree, that this game will be unbalanced and unfair, and the best you can expect is for the game to be fun. So stop removing some of the fun tech, ideas, and scenarios from the game. As killer mains, we adapted to all survivor BS and I personally never made a thread speaking against ANY of the BS in this game. Granted, I didn't play when TRUE infinites were in game, but besides that specific era of unbalance, I've been here to see it all, and as much as I may draw comparisons to establish both sides are BS to a degree, all these scrub ass players and scrub ass streamers sat and bitched and complained about everything that made this game a little bit exciting.

This game is on an obvious downtrend, despite just having gotten stranger things into the game less than 6 months ago... Can all y'all stop making the game hella weak now? Is there a point where buffing things into being interesting, smart and fun takes precedence over nerfing everything?

  • Ok, but do you cry about camping and tunnel then? Because despite the gaslighting that's not far removed from each other..

  • I'm so sick of these under 3000 hour scrubs trying to make everything in this game completely boring. You know what, go play sword and shield mufucker! Go play death stranding. Go play ######### hey you Pikachu, cuz you do not need to be playing games with other human beings since you can't possibly understand that both sides like to have fun...

But you like to accuse killers of robbing you of fun when they say there are scenarios where DS is unfair and a guessing game, or that playing the looping game is frustrating and not that engaging but nerf the only killers who change that formula up in any way... But you can have perks that reset pallets 🙄

Oh and don't think we don't see you scrubs trying to ask for Oni nerfs on week 1. 3 : 1, people who "prefer" survivor will ask for nerfs and people who prefer to play killers will adapt, or eventually leave because you guys keep trying your damndest to make killer completely unfun and a frustrating experience. #########, I left almost a year ago, I came back to play because I heard nurse would be nerfed and it was my last opportunity to have a fun experience with her..

  • You know, the only way they could nerf Mori's in a way that would be beneficial to you in THAT scenario would be to remove them. The only nerf I can see them placing on Mori's is to make it so you can only get it on second hook... So they will just tunnel you to get the Mori.

I don't think they're going to be removing a huge facet of the game that is tied into licensed properties, just to appease you. Mori's are cool, O don't know why you guys are so invested in making the game boring, because it will NEVER by defenition be balanced. Sorry Survivor isn't fullfiling enough on it's own to warrant not needing to survive every single match. Many talk about killers wanting 4ks all the time but they never realise they just aren't fullfiled and feel the need to survive majority of games.

    What double standard?

I don't consider anything about playing against Spirit a guessing game. It's a probability game, and with probability you can still make winning choices consistently. For example, people say the stand still trick is a guessing game when it's not. You just assume she is both standing still and phasing walk at the same time, then you will see the options you have that counter both and can avoid her more easily. The real issue is that survivors over think this situation due to something called "over choice" which is when there are so many choices available you cannot make a decision. If you narrow your choices, it becomes a lot easier, and whatever you do should have a good chance at countering either thing she does. Obviously though, there will be situations where you can't do that so you will need to take some risks. But it's not a guessing game. If you're sitting there trying to "guess" if she is standing still or phase walking you already lost.

Yea, I've seen plenty others refer to it as such, and that's where the double standards line comes in. Nothing against you, and either way, base spirit was fine, DS as it is is fine. That much we can agree on

  • Look..

Old nurse~at base= SWF Comms AT BEST

The add ons had to go, the base nerf just kills the killer for new players, vets will still almost always get that 4K because her mechanics are the same.

I guess most people won't care as they mostly play survivor, but this will be the beginning of the end for any emerging nurse players and it sucks because she has one of the most fun powers in the game. I'll still play her and fail and think to myself to those old days where a man could just be a man and smack an ass every now and then, instead of being forced into beta male strategy syndrome. "oh, I am so sorry my survivor friends, I mean not to hurt you while you do this gen, would you like me to wipe your ass while I am in your game?"

  • @thesuicidefox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/897471#Comment_897471

I disagree with the idea old Spirit had no counter play. Regardless...

DS is not a guess. You see the obsession claws, you KNOW a DS is in play. Therefore you slug the survivors and pay attention to how long it's been since you hooked them.

You make it sound like you literally have no options.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/897518#Comment_897518

If a survivor does something unusual and gets themselves caught, that's a dead give away they have DS. Like the only more obvious signal would be a neon sign above their head at that point.

It's not failing to escape if a survivor purposely goes down before the timer is up. Nothing about that is rewarding failure. Survivor took a risk and baited you. If killer picks up this person and gets DS they got outplayed. Pure and simple.

Know what I do when I see obsession claws? I slug the crap out of everyone. Unless I'm positive that it's been 60 seconds, I leave them on the ground. If they do something like jump in a locker I leave them alone and find someone else. If I see them trying to bait me into a chase right after they got off the hook, I ignore them and go for someone else (or slug them).

IT. IS. NOT. HARD. TO. COUNTER. DS.

I'll say this, if you weren't out here crying about Spirit, well tbh I agree with you that DS is fine. I just don't like double standards

  • Is that what you made a thread for? To ######### and moan about something that isn't in the game anymore?

  • Of course, I bought him day 1. I've had issues but he's not THAT bad, definitely not the worse. I am starting to notice why players are complaining about new Legion tho

  • Kid, you're crying over Totems. You need all the crutch scenarios you can get, apparently

  • @thesuicidefox said:

    DS is fine.

If you got hit with DS one of two things happened:

    1) You were tunneling.

    2) The survivor purposely let you down them to DS you. You took the bait. Therefore you got outplayed.

It's really not hard to avoid DS. I slug like crazy when I expect a DS, going so far as to just leave the person on the ground to find someone else. Sometimes I just flat out eat the DS, especially if I'm Nurse or Spirit. Go ahead, DS me, I'll just catch you again in 10 seconds or less.

It's really not hard to get around.

"Outplayed" like old Spirit using her collision to bodyblock/confirm hits on survivors?

If you got hit by old Spirit, one of two things happened

    1. You were not paying attention to her husk not moving

    2. She tricked you into thinking she was phasing and you fell for the bait

Seriously, why do random guess scenarios only get to benefit survivors? Don't get me wrong, spirit needed some of the needs she got.. but some weren't THAT necessary. Maybe nurse would have been a better example because she got slightly gutted

I really feel for the console players. Oni is awesome on PC. One of the best killers they've ever put out in my opinion.

It is pretty cool to have a hillbilly with built in detection perks... What I really like is the way they incorporated a whole new mechanic with blood orbs. It shows that if they reaaaaally wanted to, they could put in some really crazy mechanics.. I'd like to see events tailored around picking up/absorbing free floating orbs, or rings, or something different like that.. some really crazy stuff.

  • @yermom said:

I had problems with him, too. But, if you strafe with left stick, and turn in opposite direction with right stick, you can get a pretty decent angle. Honestly, i've just been relying on ending my demon dash with an m1. Oni runs so fast in demon dash that it's really difficult for survivors to recover from a mistake when they go to juke and you properly predict their movement. Don't get me wrong, though. There are plenty of times where I just look like a newb with Oni.

I been trying to tell him it's the same concept as using Billy, it does feel a bit clunkier, but I'm sure they intentionally made him this way. You HAVE to use both sticks in order to get proper control.. however, I do think they could make him a slight bit less... Rusty feeling

Nothing you said was wrong except for seasoned nurses won’t care. I got to R1 with Nurse multiple times. I’ve dropped the character post rework because I straight up don’t have fun with her anymore. It’s not fun gluing my eyes to the bottom left of the screen the whole game waiting for my second period of waiting in the blink wait wait mantra to be done. It’s extremely unfun. Can I 4k? Absolutely, but it’s not fun to do it, so why bother?

Yea, I was overtaking when I said that. It's definitely still frustrating to everyone, I just wanted to emphasize that newer players who were already daunted by her mechanical requirements have absolutely even less of a reason to attempt her now, which is sad because it means for all intents and purposes, the nurse is dead.

  • @D114707 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/896423#Comment_896423

Billy isnt much of a problem, plus I spent 5 bucks on this and Billy is free, and the perks never drastically change the performance of a character, besides ruin and maybe noed

You misunderstand me, I was making that comment to the PC players who were saying Oni is somehow more difficult to play on console than on PC. I don't buy that.

But as far as the add ons and perks not dramatically changing a character... Well that simply isn't true at all. Some characters really still don't work that well without add ons (Trapper, Mike Myers, Leatherface, Doctor, some would say Hag). Hell, most people wouldn't dare play Trapper without ruin or some stall perk. So it really can vary and although some add ons seem innocuous, they can be quite powerful when synergized the right way... So don't call it a waste just yet

  • They definitely shouldn't have needed her basekit. Look, it doesn't matter what you do to nurse because those God nurse players aren't that affected by this change... This change only further discourages new nurse players, because the nurses that played her at that high level haven't just lost muscle memory. They didn't need 4 blink nurse, they were downing survivors in two perfect blinks anyway. It does take away from her nap pressure, but I'd argue that wasn't ever really the big problem for survivors necessarily anyway, since BBQnC and stridor were already Meta perks that gave her map control info.

So why not just nerf the add ons if you don't want every scrub to get good with her? Because again, the cool down isn't a strong deterrent for seasoned Nurses at all, she will still end chase's "too fast" in those hands... But newer players of nurse will be turned off because they won't have that mechanical refinement and just see how long it takes to catch up with survivor and determine they might as well have been spirit..

IDK, in my opinion she was so underplayed as it was that a dramatic need wasn't necessary. 5 blink nurse needed to go, no question, but other than that everything else was just micromanagement and overthinking. K.I.S.S. remember this golden rule

  • How is Oni on console a problem if Billy isn't? But I will say this, there's no way you have the best perks or add ons for Oni yet, so don't call him trash just yet because alot of killers aren't to be played the first few times add on and perkless.

  • These ideas are actually amazing and take advantage of the full scope of legion with multiple killers you swap to, I love this idea!

Of course it won't be added, but now I feel like this is the only and BEST idea for a legion rework I've ever seen. I'd go as far to say someone should tag this, or you should keep a copy of this idea on a clipboard and post it on here again every few months until it gets traction. The idea is just that good and you even made sensible add ons.

My only question/concern is with the charges mechanic, does that mean that the survivor can't actually heal themselves unless they fully mend? Not to big a deal since only their movement causes it to drain, but just a question.

The survivor will receive a ban if you report them after the game. This has happened to 2 of the biggest DBD streamers in the past on separate occasions (I won't mention names). They were working with the killer to farm their teammate by unhooking, downing, and rehooking them until their teammate died. I believe in both instances their account received a 1 week ban.

I'd recommend not disconnecting if you are the person getting farmed in one of these situations, as it could make your report less meaningful if they see that you DC'd.

Ochido was one. There I did it for you
