Okay you got me with the lunge time, 0.87m was just way of for me but I realise now. the calculation look where the killer is but don't take into acount the hitbox that shoots a distance in front of the killer. That's why it felt off. My bad, I should have really double checked that
And after actually timing it the post-rush the cooldown is indeed 2.5 seconds
Still that calculation assumes the survivor always knows the direction of the nearest palet/window, that they always take the most optimal path to it and that the killer just follows the survivor directly in their footsteps and doesn't make any attempt to cut them off.
So that the survivor plays at their best and the killer at their worst
Theorizing is nice and all but for me in practise very often if i miss my rush attack close to the survivor I can hit them shortly after assuming no pallet is near and it definitively doesn't take 15 seconds
Maybe that will change after survivors get better at dealing with Blight who knows
"Still that calculation assumes the survivor always knows the direction of the nearest palet/window, that they always take the most optimal path to it"
It doesn't even need to be the nearest pallet. Not even close.
"and that the killer just follows the survivor directly in their footsteps and doesn't make any attempt to cut them off."
Unless I'm on an indoor map, the path to a pallet is 99% of the time going to take the Survivor through open, open, and open areas. Where am I gonna them off in the open?
"Theorizing is nice and all but for me in practise very often if i miss my rush attack close to the survivor I can hit them shortly after assuming no pallet is near and it definitively doesn't take 15 seconds"
Then the Survivor misplayed. Nothing more, nothing less. All the Survivor has to do is hold W and the Killer can't stop them from getting into the pallet.

Okay i love numbercrunching as much as the next guy but can you think about the answers you got
If a lunge only covers 0.87m of distance that would mean you would be in striking distance less then a quarter of a second from a full range lunge
Error with that calculation is that lunges last way longer then 0.3 seconds. Another number added without really thinking about it.
Again i love numbercrunching and theorising but the theory and practise of this game are massivly different.
Many of these calculations just don't happen in real games
You can calculate all you want but from my experience of playing and watching this killer if you miss right next to the survivor they are going down 2 seconds later unless there is a pallet right there
"If a lunge only covers 0.87m of distance that would mean you would be in striking distance less then a quarter of a second from a full range lunge"
How. Literally how.
You enter post-Rush fatigue for 2.5 seconds (yes, 2.5 seconds. Not one 1 second. Check the DBD wiki. Or just count it in your head yourself.) In that time, the Survivor is moving at a rate of 4 meters per second. At 4 meters per second, a Survivor can travel 10 meters in 2.5 seconds. The Killer moves at 4.6 meters per second, meaning they catch up to that Survivor at a rate of 0.6 meters per second. If 10 - 0.87 = 9.13, that means it takes over 15 seconds before you are in lunging distance.
But hey, 15 seconds isn't that much longer than 0.25 seconds, right?
"Error with that calculation is that lunges last way longer then 0.3 seconds. Another number added without really thinking about it."
Sorry, you were saying?

Yes thats what everyone thinks but ya know.. that doesn’t make him horrible.. just his one weakness, he still has stupid strong mobility and can STILL get hits with his power.
No, he can't. Not if the Survivors are good at the one thing he is incapable of doing: X-axis movement.

You are making this way too specific just to make him sound worse then he actually is. He really isn’t that bad and is very strong, if you can watch all these streamers, youtubers, and fellow players do well and still say he is horrible well I don’t know what to tell you
Also, regarding this advice:
"if you can watch all these streamers, youtubers, and fellow players do well and still say he is horrible well I don’t know what to tell you"
You know who I do watch play Blight?
Hanging the Blight Main and TechyTheClown, the current 2 best Blight players in the world, according to the DBD leaderboards. And you know what Techy thinks? Everything about Blight is fantastic except for that unholy Rush lunge turning.

This is a specific scenario where the Survivor knows what they're doing. I understand this is really specific since, you know, most Survivors don't know what they're doing, but once you get past that insurmountable circumstance it's literally just basic math and map knowledge.

Forgot one little detail in your calculations there
Killers can lunge
You only need to be within 4m to get a hit, so as you calculated if you start the fatigue as close to them as possible and there isn't a pallet or window right there they are getting hit
Ofcourse assuming you fatigue as close to them as possible. If you rush past them that's on you
"You only need to be within 4m to get a hit"
LMAOWHAT
Here's some math:
Killers lunge at a speed of 6.9 meters per second. Survivors move at a speed of 4 meters per second. This means that lunging at a running Survivor will close the distance at a rate of 2.9 meters per second. A lunge lasts for 0.3 seconds. This means that a full lunge will close 0.87 meters of distance, AT MOST. I say "at most" because this isn't even taking into account the fact that 6.9 meters per second is only the maximum speed; the lunge has a ramp-up and a ramp-down.
In conclusion: No. You cannot fatigue and then immediately lunge after a Survivor to get a hit. A lunge will shave off, at the absolute most, 1.4 seconds of time in the scenario I described above. Otherwise known as: NOT ENOUGH TIME TO PREVENT THE SURVIVOR FROM FINDING A WINDOW OR PALLET.
-
Leave. The game is already over; let me move on to the next match.
Most Survivors stay to teabag anyways, not give me more points.

yes his turning speed on lunge is difficult but you can still catch survivor off guard, he has a high skill cap so? He still has mobility, and he can be mastered. Skill is very relevant with this killer. Have you tried playing him and actually tried learning him?
Yes, I have tried learning him and going against him, and I've learned that the counterplay to him is incredibly simple. What's the point of mastering him when the counterplay takes a thousandth of the time to nail? It's like mastering Legion. What's the point?
If they just fixed the lunge, it would actually be hard to counter a good Blight and he'd be worth mastering. But right now? Absolutely not.

It doesn't really matter if they run around an object if there is no pallet or window nearby
Who cares if you can't hit them with your power when you have a attack cooldown of a second and you're right next to the survivor
First off, it's longer than a second. That's not even taking into account things like wonky collision forcing a bump or vice versa, making you Rush past them.
Second off, even if it were just a second, if the Survivor runs forward, one second of stun is 4 meters of distance. At 115 speed, it takes 6 and two thirds of a second for you to catch up to that, for almost 8 seconds of time the Survivor has to find a window or a pallet. If the Survivor knows their tiles, that's plenty of time.

Great, I'll just hit you because I'm not stupid and I actually use his power in loops to force pallets.
If a Survivor is having pallets forced by a Killer who physically has worse turning than Hillbilly when using their power, it's not because you're using his power well.

Like I said, thats when your skill as a killer comes into play, mind game moon walk, hide your red light, once they drop pallet or you get a hit, use your power to get right back on them. Surprisingly enough, some people enjoy killers that don’t go down to just get hit or get hit guessing games.
And that's when you realize that Survivors can hardcore loop you in your power with insane advantages at most loops, and just run around an object to prevent you from hitting them with Rush once you break the pallet. Your skill is irrelevant when the counterplay to the Killer both in and out of their power it's so amazingly simple that trying to actually be a big brain about it will likely hurt you.

Then you do something with it, thats when the men are separated from the kids, thats when your skill as a killer comes into play! He is insanely strong when you learn how to play him and I can’t wait to see what tricks people come up with! Mobility is huge in this game being able to hook a survivor and be on another within 10 seconds is godly for pressure.
See what I said above.

@MadLordJack said:

Then break the pallet and hit them if they're that good at playing tiles. He's Blight, not Legion, he doesn't wait for them to get somewhere else because of limited movement speed. You can absolutely hit with his Lethal Rush, because they can only dodge if if they have something to hide behind. I figured that out in my second match. And even if you dont hit them, for whatever reason, you're still right next to them, between tiles, ripe for a slap. So slap them.
Seriously, he has one of the best chases in the game. Even tiles he's forced to play like an m1 killer (which are only about half of them) he can still just zone, break and hit before they can chain. Then you hook them and zoom around them map for another chase, ten seconds after your last one ended, because he has the absolute best mobility in the game.
Press A on your keyboard.
Use windows.
Don't just waste the pallet and actually be good with your resources.
Turn around a corner.
There, four foolproof ways to completely take away Blight's power. Do with them what you will.

Do you even killer?
"What's the point of mobility?"
There is so much to unpack with that one statement that I don't even want to begin. I just really felt the need to highlight it, considering the weakness of m1 killers is their lack of mobility thanks to the m1 aspect being mitigated by skill and the tile-chaining being mitigated by... Oh, right. Mobility.
No point in mobility if you can't do anything with it.
M1 isn't mitigated by skill on the Killer's side one-tenth as much as it is mitigated by mistakes on the Survivor's side—egregious ones.

I mean, sure, some players might want a Killer with no reasonable Counterplay to win chases, but getting into chases quick and having somewhat normal chases (you can also get Hits with his ability, it is not impossible at all, but will not work at the common structures) is also a great ability.
Like, see someone on BBQ and be there in 10 seconds or so. This is great and also a tool for Map Pressure other than "fake the shot..fake the shot...M1 because I am close now".
(All of my opinions obviously subject to change, since Blight is new)
Problem is, against a Survivor of equal skill a "normal chase" will last ages and you'll sacrifice a minimum of a gen just downing them. Again, who cares about mobility if you can't do anything with it?
And sure, getting hits with the ability is possible... if the Survivor doesn't know how to run to the side.

"The mobility doesn't even help that much. What's the point of mobility if you can't do anything with it?"
Yeah, whats the point of having mobility which allows the Blight to go into a new chase in seconds. Totally bad, what would you do with that?!
Yeah, what's the point of getting in a chase when your character physically lacks the kit to do anything at all and your only chance of getting a hit is if the Survivor makes mistakes on their end, making every single chase against a competent Survivor ultimately a total waste of time?
It's just Legion 2: Hallowed Blight Boogaloo.
-
Nah, until they fix his lunge out of a Rush, he's going to be bad.
That lunge turning is so bad you might as well be running in a straight line. It's countered by just going around a corner or pressing A on your keyboard. It's probably the easiest ability in the game to dodge, and until he gets a better lunge out of Rush, he's going to be one of the most loopable M1 Killers in the game.
The mobility doesn't even help that much. What's the point of mobility if you can't do anything with it?

You clearly didnt look up fast enough. I dont know what to tell you. No killer main I know complains and about not being able to dodge flashlights. Let's just stop this discussion just practice and you will see flashlights really arent that strong unless combined with sprint burst or locker saves.
Let me repeat: I literally looked completely away from the flashlight before any sort of blindness VFX showed up on my screen, and it just didn't matter.
How is it my fault that even though I looked completely away from the flashlight well before I was blinded, the game just decided, "Nope, not true"?

So looking up before the VFX even begin to show up on my screen and still getting blinded is bad reaction time? Countering the flashlight the instance the Survivor tries to use it and not having it matter is bad reaction time?

That's called perfect timing that's been in the game for a while. If you blind at a certain time it's a guaranteed save. Now I get what you are trying to say.

This clip shows exactly what you are talking about he turns around yet he still got blinded. Its just how flashlights work. If you blind at the perfect time you get it no matter what.
No, there was no "timing" involved. I'm in the middle of carrying someone, I hear and see the flashlight turn on, I look up, and I'm still forced to watch as my screen fades to that telltale VFX. They didn't time it well at all. It just didn't matter.

Gigantic? Funny. That was back then when picking up take ages to do. Now u just spot the guy trying to flashlight save do a 180 and be good since is so ''gigantic'' that the survivor can't position himself in time to save.
You might as well be able to blind people from behind at this rate. You don't have to aim anywhere near the eyes; your positioning is hardly something to be practiced.
And yes, the window is still huge. Just because it was huger then doesn't mean it isn't huge now.

There is no learning in holding w. It Is what the name says.
Flashlights dont have a huge window anymore nor are they lenient if you dont have proper position or the killer is atleast half decent you arent getting one. That's where locker flashlight saves come in.
The window is gigantic and you don't even have to aim the flashlight at the Killer's eyes. What are you on about?

Flashlight saves are easy for you and me but I know people who say they cant do it. I dont understand why cant you get the fact that not everyone is gonna pick up flashlights quickly/easily.
If you want to actually divert the Killer as effectively as possible? Yes, you have to learn how to hold W.
Flashlight saves are just easy in general. They have a huge window for timing and aiming; it's so very lenient. Anyone who finds it hard is just bad.

Holding w is boring that's why nobody does it. Also it may be easy when you know it but not when you first learn as most things in life are.
Doing gens is also boring. Should Survivors stop doing that?
It's not hard to learn. Flashlight saves are easy to learn, easy to understand, and easy to do. They're just easy.

So you just see 4 flashies in the lobby and be like “eh i aint gonna run lightborn cuz i rly rly RLY gotta run a synergy build without lightborn even though they might locker save, but i aint gonna run it cuz its like uh not fun and intuitive however i will complain in the forums about them”
and also you’re using a stale “wHaT aBOut sEcOnd cHanCe pErks” where if i say “i dont use second chance perks a lot” you’ll just sarcastically say “sure.....”
and for the record calm spirit is a very badly designed perk, no perk should single handily counter an entire power, same thing with slippery meat where it just counter trapper,
and why would i run calm spirit every round when i know there are 15 other killers besides doc? you waste a slot on lightborn knowing well you’ll get use out of it CUZ YOU CAN SEE THE FLASHLIGHTS, but i run calm spirit not knowing if the killer will be doc or not. If you refuse to adapt, run lightborn, check the area before grabbing, then there’s always dodging the lobby if flashlights are too troublesome for you.
and this will be my last comment on the discussion cuz your killer bias is just too strong for me to reason with or argue
Yeah, I shouldn't have to destroy my build just so I don't get punished because Survivors hold M2 in a 12-mile radius of my character.
And yeah, I'm sure you don't run any second chances at all. I'm suuuure you don't.
I mentioned a hypothetical scenario where you could see the Killer. The fact you couldn't deduce that just shows how big-brained you truly are.
@azame said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1607704#Comment_1607704
Yes I did because if it wasnt every survivor would be able to pull off flashlights saves, locker saves, cj techs, awkward angles. It has a skill cap even the blueberry herself spirit while being relatively easy has a skill cap.
Most Survivors also can't hold W, apparently. That's why Legion has a kill rate above 0%.
Just because "not everyone can do it" doesn't mean it's hard. Not everyone can replace a toilet seat, but it's quite easy to do. It's an even worse metric for DBD since most people are terrible at the game—case in point, people who think flashlight saves are hard.

oh no!!!!!! not my 1 perk slot DDDDD: WHAT WILL I EVER DO WITHOUT MY PRECIOUS THRILLING , CORRUPT, SLOPPY AND POP
do remember that by using 1 perk slot you are completely nullifying the survivors items and their play style, and i find it extremely satisfying when survivors hover around me like flies only to realize i have lightborn, idk about you but it’s satisfying af
If the Survivors are actually good, the loss of that one Perk can and will be huge. Even more so if I were trying to make an actual build that highly depended on Perk synergy.
But let me guess, if I asked you to switch out one of your four second chances for Calm Spirit to counter Doctor, you'd throw a hissy fit and call it unfair?

Do you get flashlight locker saved every game to the point of filling 3 pages of the discussion full of replies on why they are BS?
The discussion was about ghostface not being blinded by locker’s angle and you wrote an entire book on why they are bullshit, but have you heard the very simple basic trick of running lightborn when you see flashlights in the lobby? it’s an intentional game design to see what items survivors are bringing and strategize accordingly
Ah yes, let me just sacrifice a Perk slot on Lightborn and muck up my entire build because a Survivor clicked on a shiny stick in the pre-game lobby. Such a fun and intuitive counter.

Well, you should assume that survivors aren't standing in pallets and are just reaching it, I was too lazy to draw their path as well.
The thing is that blight can perform 2 short rushes followed up with a hit in less than 1.5 seconds, which is insanely fast.
So basically survivor is like on the corner and blight is 1/2 of wall behind, he charges forward and by the time survivor comes close to pallet, the Blight is already on them. Somewhere it works better, somewhere it doesn't work. I haven't tried him much in T-L loops and in ormond loops, but I assume you can just power through them or use obstacle tech if there is a possibility.
Right, but see here's the thing.
Survivors can turn. A rushing Blight can't.
Blight loses.

but.. you can see it, on a majority of killers. i can clearly see it playing trapper which is why i've learned like with and against any swf team, to bait locker grabs on occasion.
its also far harder then a regular blind to pull off. requires coordination for the most part. its just like any other pick up blind imo.
besides if their doing it, it means they 1 - have a flashlight meaning no toolbox or medkit/key 2 - have likely got head on and quick and quiet meaning less looping perks/gen rushing and saving perks. 3 - are going to be spending more time messing around attempting to go for these saves then doing gens. 4 - it means garunteeing a ds, which you can either bait out, tank at the start of a match, or slug to make them lose when they attempt to jump out of a locker.
flashlights are detrimental to survivors unless in the hands of someone in a tournament level skill set. they encourage you to go for saves (easily baited or countered by running lightborn when you see them in the lobby) and encourage not running away immediately when a killer kicks a pallet. The only real use flashlights have is against wratihs and hags. otherwise most people just use them wrong imo. I'm far more afraid of a 3-4 medkit squad, or key/toolbox squad then i am of flashlights when there are so many active counters.
if anything flashlights need a solid buff. not instant blinds, or like, longer blind time because that could get way out of hand too quickly, but just more use cases then "blinding at pallets" and encouraging "blind saves", which are occasionally useful, but more often then not cause survivors to messup incredibly quickly.
Sorry, but if I don't see a big bright light beam shining on my screen when I get blinded, I didn't see a big bright light beam shining on my screen when I get blinded and it shouldn't have blinded me.
Also, it's not hard to time a blind. Like, at all. It takes basic timing.
"if anything flashlights need a solid buff."
Dear God no. The only thing that should happen to flashlights is their deletion. If I wanted other players to freely have the ability to take away my ability to see I'd go play Counter Strike.

This all sounds well and good, but what if the Survivor, you know... moves?

Yeah. A fat bastard who probably plays 24/7, unlike me.
Hardly lol, I hate this game. Hell, when I do play, I play Killer because Survivor is just so boring. Nothing about playing Survivor feels intuitive or skill-based, including your precious locker saves.

It's like We'll Make It but worse in every aspect.
Seriously, you'd get more value out of skill checks if you ran Stake Out. Swear on my momma.

I don't find flashlights hard. I find locker saves hard. Well, against non original killers bc the animation is different.
And that's honestly sad. You have a black belt in Korean martial arts (assuming that belt is either real or yours, which I doubt), and you find it difficult to shine a flashlight in the general vicinity of a Killer as they're pulling someone out of a locker. I'm a fat bastard who never gets good sleep at night and even I can pull flashlight lockers off easily.

I dont like no0b3. I like flashlights, and thats the only reason I play survivor.
How are you going to tout that and then sit here and tell me you struggle to pull off flashlight saves? You get that piece of cloth from a children's dojo or something, my guy?
Christ, Internet tough guy out here thinking his little pictures mean he's good at a video game. Next you'll be telling me you have over 300 confirmed kills.

Oh really? I have bad muscle memory? I have bad reaction times? Then how did I become a first degree dan in tang soo do? I don't think that flashlights are hard. I think that locker saves are hard. Because they are.
LMAO I'm sure you are.
If you think locker saves are hard there's no way in hell you've ever moved past a white belt in any martial art.

There are times where it makes sense to go into a Locker, even in front of The Killer to trigger a perk or position yourself for a FL save. This is being smarter than The Killer, and he doesn't necessarily deserve the hook. And because of the way latency favors The Killer, not every grab is deserved. That was my point based on your original broad and over inclusive argument (below) that a locker grab deserves a hook and that it is always stupid and should result in punishment. There are in fact situations where it makes sense to jump in one and merely going in one doesn't mean it was stupid.
"If you get pulled out of a locker, you don't deserve a second chance. Period. No locker DS, no locker flashlight, nothing. If you are that monumentally stupid, the only appropriate consequence that should befall you is punishment."
Let me take a step back.
My problem with locker flashlights above all else is they mess with the way lockers were made. Just from looking at the way lockers work, you don't need a dev to tell you lockers were clearly designed to be a bad position to be in if the Killer knows you are in there and/or pulls you out of it. Flashlight lockers are stupid because they turn an explicitly and exclusively bad position for the grabbed Survivor into a good one. That shouldn't be a thing. It's why I hate flashlight lockers, it's why I hate Head On, and it's why I hate locker DS. Being grabbed out of a locker should always and exclusively be a bad position for the Survivor to be in, and as far as I'm concerned, anything that can make it a good position is either an exploit, bad game balance, or both. You're not smarter than the Killer for exploiting.
Also, I wished latency favored my Killer games. I'm so sick of swinging at a Survivor as soon as they start a vault animation and somehow missing even though the only thing my weapon could have touched was their buttcheeks. Or grabbing someone mid-locker vault only to swing at the air and let them go free.

No double cooldown, more turning, not slowing down when you lunge out of a Rush, and a fixed hitbox mostly.
Oh, and let me use my power when I have 2 tokens instead of all of them.

Keep telling yourself that, bud.
Just gonna say it.
Mad because bad. You have poor muscle memory and reaction time and that makes you think flashlight saves are hard to time.
I'd hate to see you be put in scenarios that require actually good, fast reflexes and hard muscle memory.

No skill involved in opening a locker (among other things), even a guess especially with IM equipped. You're going on like every locker grab was a display of masterful skill that should equal a guaranteed grab. Locker grabs are a skill-free action, in a game where what The Killer sees is what prevails thus providing them with the edge in this interaction. A point you conveniently skipped over. I'm still not convinced by your points, I understand them but unmoved.
With the exception of the guessing game which we've already been over, in all scenarios where a Survivor is grabbed, you were either skilled enough to deduce that they were there, or the Survivor put themselves in a bad position. In either scenario, how much skill the Killer displayed en solo is not what's important. What's important is how much skill and perception the Killer displayed relative to how much skill and perception the Survivor being grabbed displayed. In either scenario, the Killer displayed more than the Survivor.
