I've never had a Survivor jump in before me if I was spamming spacebar, so no, I don't think it has been changed.
Couldl be a latency issue though, like Orion mentioned.

Killer: Machine gun.

Survivor: Kindred.
Already liked the Perk, now it's irreplaceable in my build.
Killer: Vaulting speed.
Used to be ~2.5 seconds, yuck!
When was the vaulting speed changed? Because I legitimately don't remember that. Though I also was a Nurse main way back when so vaulting wasn't an issue for me.

If you care that much to kill the challenge of playing Huntress:

Zarina Kassir
For The People
Borrowed Time
Diversion
Autodidact
Zarina strikes me as the Altruistic Type with her personality and perks, so that would be the "Zarina Build". Use For The People and Borrowed Time to perform risky saves, Diversion to lure Killers away from your allies' location, and Autodidact to quickly heal other Survivors once she has gotten stacks.

It does, I abuse it against them.
It also works against Spirit making quick work of them if you don't have Iron Will. Since, y'know, knowing when she is faking her phase is kinda important.

He'd have to be a new character tbh, since he was desperate and broken, not filled with revenge and rage like Rin was. So it's unlikely he'd have the Yamaokas haunting ability, probably would make a cool new character.
Honestly I just want Rin's Dad because I was kinda pissed it was The Oni instead when the Cursed Legacy was revealed. Course that was my fault for hyping it up to be Rin's Dad with the hints that it will be someone from the Yamaoka Family. Or maybe Rin's father can be a legendary skin for the Oni, who knows?

Doing at least a full 1 generator chase. To me that's "Winning".
It's even better when it's a 3 gen chase, then the Killer facecamps me and wastes his time while I hope my teammates has BT.

Didnt the ruin nerf lead into survivors becoming the power role for a while though with old genspeed and toolboxes.
I've personally never been bothered to use Old Ruin myself whenever I play Killer, so it isn't like it bothers me personally. Survivors have only been the power role if I let them. If I could force the game to stop with say, a three-gen, I will. It's "boring", but it gets the job done and usually nets me at least a 3k since they are forced to either come towards me or waste their time.
-
I loved the Ruin nerf, mainly because that means Killers had to actually get better or go back to where they should be in the rankings. At least for me as a Survivor, I've rarely went against a Killer who I think shouldn't be there in the Red Ranks.
Also loved it because most people even in Red Ranks still can't hit Great Skillchecks (it's not that hard, guys)
Also love the recent buffs that Freddy, Doctor and now Clown is having. I've been playing Clown a lot and people really underrate him with how powerful he can be. He can turn even hopeless situations on it's head. If anything I find him more dangerous to face in a chase than Freddy, at least with Freddy his snares are not as much of a threat as Clown's gas. With Clown's gas even the slightest touch of the gas will slow you down and it covers a LARGE area if the Clown knows where to throw it's gas around.
Wish more Killers are oppressive in their matches, some are just downright easy or barely a threat. Yes, I am one of those Survivors who adore Killers making matches completely hopeless for the Survivor side.

I have never heard of perk tiers or grinding being a large issue in my soon to be four years of playing, lol.
Higher tier perks would be nice, but only on kyf at least for a long time after they get introduced, and maybe if they add game modes that could be one of them.
As for prestige rewards, maybe for what tier prestige you have, your teachables get upgraded to the next tier, so either tier 1 still has tier 1 perks and tier 3 gets tier 3 perks or tier 1 upgrades it to 2 and tier 2 gets the tier 3s and nothing changes at prestige 3. Another way, which is probably much easier to add in, is to just open up the perk slots without reaching a level, so tier 1 opens the second slot, and tier 3 opens all 4 slots instantly.
There actually is a reason to prestige too, you get better rarity items in the blood webs, like green and purple addons instead of brown and yellow and i believe it gets better depending on the prestige tier.
Also would love to see a prestige 4 that changes certain things like killer powers for the killers and maybe what items look like for survivors? It would not be the easiest thing to make but it would still be amazing to have skins and bloody variants of hillbilly's chainsaw or wraith's cloak/decloak sizzle thing.
Ok that's enough of that lmao
You might wanna do the math like I did, it's only going to get exponentially far worse with each new chapter.
@DelsKibara said:
We all know Dead by Daylight is known for it's Grind. It's what keeps us playing the game, it's what keeps us going through the same loops over and over again and it's why we love to play this game getting as much points as we possibly can for every single match. It's why farm games exists and why (some) people love it when they pop up because it gives them a chance to get a ton of guaranteed bloodpoints for everyone involved in the match.
With that said, I think The Massive Grind is going to become a real issue real soon. Especially with new players who are just joining the game and started playing.
I calculated the amount of Bloodpoints needed to get every single character to Prestige 3, Level 50 with all Perks obtained. Prepare to see some huge numbers.
Since I want to talk about new players specifically, I'll focus on the one thing most new players will most likely do when they first start playing the game. Get as much teachables as they can as soon as possible. Because they want to have fun builds, they want to be able to survive against Killers or Survivors who have (arguably) better perks than them. So let's just assume this New Player wants to grind for every teachable in the game. First they would need to level every Character to Level 40 at a minimum.
It takes a minimum of around 1,250,000 Bloodpoints to get a single character to Level 40. Let's then multiply that with every character that is currently in DBD, there are currently 21 Survivors and 19 Killers. Bringing the number to a total of 40 Characters to level up to Level 40. Which brings the amount of Bloodpoints you need to 50 Million Bloodpoints. If you show this to a new player, they would find this to be incredibly daunting and tedious.
But I hear you asking, "Kibara! Not every one of those characters has perks that are worth to grab!" And you would be right. So let's just remove the characters whose entire perk deck are not in the current meta, very situational or are just not worth to grab in general (Bolded Perks are up for debate on whether or not they are worth getting):
- Ace Visconti (Up the Ante, Open Handed, Ace in the Hole)
- Quentin Smith (Wake Up!, Vigil, Pharmacy)
- Jeff Johansen (Distortion, Aftercare, Breakdown)
- Ash Williams (Mettle of Man, Buckle Up, Flip Flop)
- Steve Harrington (Babysitter, Camaraderie, Second Wind)
- Zarina Kassir (Red Herring, Off the Record, For the People!)
- The Huntress (Beast of Prey, Territorial Imperative, Hex: Huntress Lullaby)
- The Demogorgon (Surge, Mindbreaker, Cruel Limits)
- The Oni (Zanshin Tactics, Blood Echo, Nemesis)
- The Deathslinger (Gearhead, Dead Man's Switch, Hex: Retribution)
And with that, we eliminated 10 (at least in my opinion) characters that you don't need to grind for because their perks are (arguably) not worth to grind for. That still leaves us with 30 characters whose perks are definitely worth grinding for though. Not only do these 30 characters have useful perks, some of them are downright powerful that you would be nuts to not get as soon as possible.
You would be nuts to not go for Dead Hard or BBQ & Chili from the start of your DBD Career, because these perks really REALLY help out a lot in escaping, chasing, detecting or even giving you free Bloodpoints.
Now that we have that sorted out, how much BP do we have to spend now?
37,500,000.
That is STILL A LOT of Bloodpoints. And to any new players, if they saw this number they would find that incredibly discouraging. Because they see the cap is 1 Million Bloodpoints, so they would think 1 Million is a lot of Bloodpoints.
Oho, but we're not yet done with the Grind Train yet, my friends. It gets even more exponentially expensive. It's like playing an Idle Game except you need to always be active to gain cash.
Let's assume those new players become regular players, and they want to fully prestige their characters. They see those bloody outfits and they want their own characters to look like that. Well, if they want to fully Prestige their characters with level 50 on all of them, lets do the math again then, shall we?
To get a Level 1 Character to Level 50, you need roughly around 1,750,000 Bloodpoints. To get A SINGLE CHARACTER to Prestige 3-50, you need to multiply that number 4 times. Meaning the grand total amount, the MINIMUM amount you need to spend on a single character to fully max out their levels is 7,000,000 Bloodpoints.
Yikes! That's already around 1/6th of the amount of Bloodpoints required to gain every teachable that is worth it in the game.
And of course, per our formula, we need to then multiply that number by 40 (assuming they want to prestige every single character in the game to it's max level). After that, we get a grand total of 280,000,000 Bloodpoints to max out every single character is this damn game.
That is a ridiculously large amount of Bloodpoints. I've played for 1.5k Hours in this game and I've only accumulated around 100,000,000 Bloodpoints myself. But hey, you can argue that it needs to be that expensive because Prestiging a character is Optional. You don't have to do it, which is why it's so expensive, it shows you're willing to put more time into the game. And I get that, it is meant to be more of a reward system for loyal players rather than an actual grind you have to overcome.
But what if you want to experiment with Perk Builds? Something that is a part of the game, and arguably, half the fun of Dead by Daylight to some people (myself included).
You would obviously need every single perk in the game to be able to actually experiment with the perks you want to play with. And here is where the massive numbers come in.
It takes roughly around 35 Million Bloodpoints to get every single perk in the game, and that is already close to the minimum we need to get for every single TEACHABLE that is worth to grab from the various characters in DBD. Reduce the number you need for Level 50, and you still need 33,250,000 Bloodpoints. (Keep in mind, I am assuming this character is Prestige 3, which means they already need to spend 5,250,000 Bloodpoints already on a single character.)
Arguably, you can be conservative and say that since every Survivor plays the same. You only need to get it for one Survivor and you'll be able to play with every perk in the game as much as you fancy.
But what if you play Killer?
Every killer plays differently, meaning not every build will work for every single one of them. You may need to mix-and-match separate perks to see what works well for you for that particular killer. So, you might end up grinding Bloodpoints to earn every single perk in the game, for every single Killer in the game if you don't have a single main you always play as.
Meaning, once again, we take the number 38,500,000 Bloodpoints (Assuming they start from Level 1), and we multiply that by 19.... And we get...
731,500,000 Bloodpoints.
And that is the best case scenario, that is assuming the Bloodweb doesn't screw you over by eating up multiple perks at once which has happened to me loads of times when I was maxing out Spirit. That is still a ridiculously huge amount of Bloodpoints, especially for Killers.
Now, if we add up every single Survivor as well, that number skyrockets to...
1,540,000,000 Bloodpoints.
Seeing this number and doing the math makes me think that perks like BBQ and WGLF are sometimes Mandatory because of how ridiculous this grind can be.
This reminds me a lot of PAYDAY 2 prior to them adding the Crime Spree mechanic. You needed to grind hours upon upon of XP to get to Infamy-XXV and you get diminishing returns because doing the best heist in the game for XP over and over again will incur you an XP penalty. It was brutal and unforgiving.
With Crime Spree, yeah the heists became harder but the rewards became much more worth it, it became much more rewarding and the time spent to grind greatly diminished making it easier to grind for Infamy-XXV.
But DBD has nothing like that, With BBQ you'd be lucky if you got 64,000 Bloodpoints in a single match. I just cannot fathom how someone, especially DBD Content Creators, could spend that much hours, that many matches of the same game to max out every character in the game to it's fullest potential. It must be a huge feeling of relief when you finally reach there.
After doing the math, I really hope BHVR takes a look at BP gains, or at least the Bloodweb Mechanic. Because right now DBD is incredibly hostile to new players, and it's driving people away more than it encourages them to stay because of that looming grind over their heads. And I think it would be better for the game, and the playerbase as a whole, if the grind was not this huge.
That's all I have to say regarding the Grind in Dead by Daylight.
Thank you for coming to yet another one of my TED Talks, it is now 6 AM and I have not slept.

If you're struggling without Ruin, you probably should not be at the rank you're currently at. If you have to resort to Forever Freddy, that's like saying you play with Iridescent Head and Infantry Belt every game and complaining how easy it is.

I'm having trouble finding where it says "Easy" on Freddies character selection screen, can you help me out with this one?
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/Z5CNOU2LHF8W/image.png
Saying that, I find Freddy easy so I'm a little confused with what exactly the devs think is "Hard" about him.
I think it's how a new player would understand his mechanics.
Trapper is "Easy" despite being one of the hardest Killers to master, but the devs categories it as Easy because of how easy his power is to understand. Trap + Survivor = Hook. Simple as that. It doesn't take into account anything else that needs to be understood about him.
Same with a Killer like Clown, his difficulty is "Intermidiate" because of the learning curve of how to use his bottles effectively, as well as how effective throwing those bottles can be.
Now with Freddy, I think it's more that new players won't understand exactly how the Dream World works immediately and wonder why their snares and pallets are not doing anything to awake survivors and they might use his teleportation randomly which can cause new players to easily lose Survivors or strand themselves on the other side of the map far away from other Survivors.
From someone who understands basic Killer mechanics though, I would argue Freddy belongs more in Intermidiate because he does require Survivors to be asleep, meaning either he needs to wait for Survivors to passively fall asleep or he has to hit them first during a chase which can be rough if, as a new player, you're being matched with Survivors who does know how to loop a Killer using the optimal route around multiple structures.

Depends on the person, really. I prefer letting people actually play the game, so I don't tunnel if the rescuer is right there in my face.
I personally prefer to start picking survivors off one by one before a single generator gets done.
-

I feel like bad teammates are only "part" of it. Their are 3 types of DS users; people who just want to use it as 60 seconds of immunity and repair gens in the killer's face/hop in a locker mid-chase to make them question life's meaning, people with legitimate concerns over tunneling, and yes, people who are worried about bad teammates in a team-bsaed game.
There's the fourth:
People who just wants entity claws to guarantee to spawn on a Survivor during a match, which forces the Killer to either slug for 60 seconds or risk getting hit by DS.
-
@Theetis said:
I swear I've seen killers that would hit the rescuing survivors when they go for a bodyblock, and then STILL go after the unhooked survivor, rather than the one they just injured. Big brain
It is big brain, finishing someone off especially if they're on Death hook should be priority.
One less Survivor working on a Generator.
-
Yes, yes it is. That would fall under exploiting the map.
-
Trapper mainly because I am terrified of him. A good Trapper can completely dominate a match if he can snowball with his traps. Not to mention it makes you wary of every tuff of grass in the map especially if you play Solo.
Not necessarily hate, I play fairly well with him myself, I just find myself annoyed I stepped into his trap because of how easy he can down and hook you if you're unlucky. At least with Hag she has to still chase you if you trigger her traps, and her traps are pretty easy to disarm especially if she is on the other side of the map.
-
Powerful add-ons are meant to be powerful, but most of them often require a trade-off or their effect is simply to change how you play the game.
Amanda's Letter for example is a perfect example for both. She only has one Reverse Bear Trap but she is able to detect the auras of Survivors while crouching within 16 meters of them. There's also Black Incense which encourages the Plague to keep everyone sick and not use up her power to give them the ability to cleanse themselves. A power mind you, that rivals Huntress in terms of how dangerous it is at a range.
Keys don't really have that kind of trade off, same with Moris. That's why people want them to be changed because it simply makes the game incredibly easy for either side. People don't really have a problem with Killers using Powerful Add-ons unless those add-ons are something like Iridescent Head + Infantry Belt. Mainly because they know most Killers don't really have that powerful of an inventory of add-ons anyways.

It's perfectly normal to feel a little anxious when playing Killer, purely because you are all alone against 4 other players. 🙂
As for you facing Red Ranks, the devs are currently working on an alternative matchmaking method which would match you with players who are equally as skilled as you. So you won't have to worry about them in the near future.

Then the Freddy you faced simply wasn't very good. Anyone can beat an overpowered killer/build if they aren't very good. Play against a skilled Freddy using this build. You will change your tune. Outside of a coordinated 4 stack there is no beating a skilled Freddy using this build. You can't say no it ain't so all you want, I ######### use this ######### all the time and the game is a complete cakewalk.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1326720#Comment_1326720
And what if the Freddy plays smart? Spreading out is not an option when he has Ropes/Thana/Sloppy. It will take 100 seconds to do a gen, look at the math. Then he hits the gen with pop, scrambles the group, slugs a few of you. I seriously doubt your friend is that good with Freddy if he uses this build and loses to anything but the absolute best survivors on your platform in a 4 stack.

Often enough for it to be worth using. Trust me, you get an OOO user it completely changes the game. There is no mind gaming them. OOO is the only perk that truly levels the playing field against Freddy.
Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Sheep Block is a permanent add-on for my Freddy.
Even so that still leaves him with half of his add-ons because more than useless.
OoO games are edgecases, and personally as a Killer I don't stumble upon them too much to run Blindness add-ons on killers that do have them

Bethesda work on multiple game first of all. Second they don't have to come out with patches every week if they don't launch updates with a ton of bugs in it. Bhvr doesn't have 200 people working on the game. They have a lot more. Still don't understand why bring bethesda into this. The only things they have in common is their practices.
And yes, would you believe it or not I would trust a Trusted member more than you.

I only play survivor once in a while now. And why bring another company into this? What does it have to do with BHVR? Is Bathesda a new standard and this is where people draw the line now for what's acceptable from a developer? If so I'm not surprised.
Bethesda isn't some kind of new standard, but I want you to realize that Bethesda is a MUCH larger studio than BHVR. And they experience bugs on the daily, ask anyone who plays Fallout 4 unpatched or anyone who plays Fallout 76 period.
So to expect BHVR to do weekly updates is unreasonable since there are only at most 200 people working on the game, and those are not 200 programmers.
-
@HellDescent said:
Except they won't answer simple questions in their streams, Like why are they pushing update with so many bugs in it? or when are these bugs going to be fixed? They only care about the flow of new players into their game, who are not aware of all this bs. As long as they get paid., even if that person will never play the game after buying it.
Then why still play this game if the anount of bugs quite literally bug you this.much?
DBD is still playable for the majority of people and that's the most important bit. Pretty sure Bethesda games are more bug ridden than DBD and they are a full on AAA company.

"He has 4 Add-ons that are worthless in an actual game, that being the Blindness and Hemmoraging add-ons."
Uhh.. Blindness is actually one of his BEST add-ons. Play Freddy until you get someone with OOO, and you will see why it's necessary.
It's also useful as a slugging tool or to slow the game down by removing hook auras. But mainly, it's there to hard counter OOO which is devastating to Freddy, more than other killers because you see him 100% of the time while asleep. He can't mind game you at all.
Assuming he is facing someone with Object.
How often is that? It isnt his best add-on, its one of the worse because of how little use it has in most games.

That is a fantastic idea! Although people could cheese it with an ebony mori.... but hey, Survivors can cheese it with a key, so I guess that's fair.
That used to be how people did it back before they changed how Merciless works.
You used to be able to get adepts purely from 4ks, which involves moris.
-
I would love if that was the case because it would make Adepts so much more easier to obtain instead of juggling emblems to get 4 Iridescent Emblems because you're stuck in Rank 1 forever.
-
First off, let me just put into context.
BHVR as a whole company only employs 500 Employees. That's not 500 Developers, that's 500 employees.
Meaning they don't have 500 people working on the code of the game. That's up to the programmers. Which as far as I can tell, isn't exactly a big enough team to do weekly changes like what you're asking.
They are not a huge company like Rockstar or Ubisoft, and their resources are rather limited, so weekly updates would just not be possible for them to do.

Forever Freddy no longer exists. They nerfed his rope add ons already and then nerfed ruin.
Technically it still does, mainly because his teleportation has the best synergy with Pop+BBQ. Meaning he can regress generators faster, get into chases quicker, get more downs, which then leads to more Dying Light Tokens as well as Thanataphobia stacks, which then leads to more Pops.
His rope add-ons and ruin being nerfed definitely helped, but it still exists.

So like instead of just Snares or Pallets, Freddy could create fireballs he could chuck at Survivors, or shapeshift as other Survivors to fool them into thinking they are safe, or have a variety of powers that you can use that uses up Dream Tokens. Tokens which you can regain by say, hitting Survivors in a Dream.
Just spitballing here, but honestly that would be more like the Freddy we all know from the movies. Using a variety of different powers to toy with Survivors in the Dream World.
(It's just a shame this is not the Freddy from those movies, but the Freddy from the 2010 remake...)

Yeah,it's a shame that the devs were so uncreative with his addons :(
Almost all are useless except a few of them.
I'd argue if they gave him more tools to play with, he would not have as much heat as he would have right now in the forums. Because he would be open to a variety of other playstyles. Right now the only add-ons that are worth a damn require you to basically be aggressive in chases and ONLY chases and pressure whenever you finish downing someone so you can get back to another chase right away.

Meg: Crouches down like a sitting duck...just outside swinging distance...aaaaaaand she's off. Cloud of dust.
Personally I prefer Survivors who has Sprint Burst tempting and baiting me to swing at them, knowing full well I have no plans on chasing them but instead chase the other Survivor who does not have Sprint Burst and is about to have a huge hole through their back.

Survivor
Steve's tend to be some of the most annoying Survivors I've played with and face. Maybe it's how he is designed, but most players seem to also play really cocky with him which just gets infuriating as Killer but at least as Survivor, that gives me time to work on the objective while the Steve is focused on the Killer (and far away from me from becoming an annoyance.)
Killer
Hillbilly's who rely on One-Downs all the time tend to be much worse than they actually think they are, A Hillbilly who always one-downs is a noob stomper, but against a competent team he will be freaking wrecked. I'm mainly saying this because everytime I face a Billy like this my teammates started massively losing braincells and just lets him get his free down.
