  • That's about a 99% chance of an swf team.

  • Wouldn't the more sensible thing be to ask people not to rage quit rather than ask killers to make things easier?

  • I'm ok with making Iron Will override Stridor since that's how you would think it would work, but that's not really a Stridor nerf as much as an Iron Will buff.

  • Their end goal isn't for some perks to be more valuable than others. They would be putting more effort into making perks equal than implementing a whole new system.

  • It's been known for years now that filthy console peasants are beneath the glorious PC gaming master race.

  • Based on the fact that killer lock is a thing now but not prior to the mmr system being implemented, I get a feeling that killer switching may have been one of the things causing bugs with their "collecting mmr data before the mmr system release". I can see a lot of coding situations where that could have been an issue and all of them would describe BHVR's spaghetti coding and bug habits perfectly.

  • Playing a killer for the first few times was ridiculously easy with the old mmr system. The fact that you enjoyed it while playing killer but now play survivor makes your preferences seem suspicious.

However, the mmr system was showing signs of working once you got past the placement phase. The real issue is that BHVR made it ridiculously time consuming to get past the placement phase with killers for some reason even though there were multiple avenues they could have used to put killers at an altered mmr instead of starting at a baseline mmr. Also, people were just whining non-stop because they don't seem to understand how mmr works and think that the beginning of the system is indicative of how it works when mmr gets settled.

  • Except for certain killers, there's no way to fully guard a 3 gen against survivors that are competent enough to know what to do in the situation. The best you can do is get the gens as regressed as you possibly can and then commit to a chase and try to get a down.

This is probably where the AFK killer bots come from. I have all the current challenges done and 99 hours played (embarrassing I know) in the last 2 weeks, which is more than a full time job, and I just hit 4/9. They're full of #########.

Well, it's obviously going to be more difficult if you try to get their based on game rift progress alone. Challenges are rather important. I have less than a third the time playing than you but more than half your progress if you add my unclaimed challenges.

  • Did you not play before the rework? It should be obvious why he can attack while you're awake.

Actually, this started happening to me weeks before the mmr patch. So, I'm not sure what the cause could be.

That's because prior to the mmr system, it was the archives. Every time a new tome is released, people need to play killer and survivor evenly to finish the challenges which is gonna cause longer queue times in a 4v1 game for killer.

Then they released the mmr system which means every time you play a killer for the first time, it's going to be searching for a match with survivors at baseline mmr. However, most survivors are going to already be at higher mmr because there's no shared mmr for survivors and there's four survivors per game for every killer meaning their mmr gets updated much faster.

    kicking starts regressing

    tapping sets it to "neutral"

sitting on it makes it progress

Saying it's unfair that tapping leads to "neutral"state is, i'd say, the same thing as saying: killers just kicking it once and not staying by it to regress it like survivors have to, to progress, is unfair. Well overall this is quite pointless anyway, cuz when they change it to, let's say... one second, survivors will still be able to "not tapp" it in a chase, and i doubt they will change it to more than one sec.

While I don't personally agree with it, this is the only post saying it's ok as is that actually makes use of logic instead of self serving bias.

You just proved yourself wrong. An extra 4 second of active discordance gives you less info because it stays active for an extra 4 seconds after they stop working on it. That is less information.

Not really. I have this magically ability called a basic sense of time that allows me to tell how long after the last loud noise notification went off it's been. Also, the amount of self serving nonsense you have to loop through to consider an extra 4 seconds of information to be less information has got to be one hell of a trick. I would probly get dizzy and throw up if I tried to pull such a fast paced logical reach around.

That's bs, tier 1 is objectively better. It provides more information than tier 3

You know what would be even better for you then? If Discordance went off every half second. That's like 16 times as much information as T1.

If you honestly believe that T1 gives more information than T3, you might want to consider if it may have to do more with a short attention span that causes you to forget things after 8 seconds. There is no more information than T1 provides than T3 doesn't. T3 does however provide an extra 4 seconds of which gen was being worked on after they get off of it.

  • Having a loud noise indicator go off 50% more often in a game where your sense of sound is critical isn't a better option when the T3 version gives you the same information, but actually for even longer after they get off the gen.

    No, that's not it.

I'm gonna just copy-paste what I always have to say.

You're aware that the "dev team" isn't one team, right? There are multiple separate teams working simultaneously on both balance, bug fixing, and revenue (AKA cosmetics).

Not only that, but cosmetics don't take as long to implement as bug fixes.

And don't say "wEll tHEn pUt mOre PeOPle oN bUgs" because most digital artists have little to no experience with code or troubleshooting bugs in general.

And this isn't a funding issue either; the art team likely generates its own revenue through the selling of cosmetics. The bug fix team is doing a fine job, and BHVR isn't just looking for a quick buck like you're saying they are.

"the bug fix team is doing a fine job"

    You're freaking hilarious, mate.

  • If you're using teachables as your primary decision making factor out of those 4 killers, the better teachables other than Ruin in order are Trail of Torment from Pyramid Head, Devour Hope from Hag, and Surge from Demo. As far as killer gameplay goes, it's gonna differ from person to person so you're the one who can best answer which killer is more fun for you.

  • Closed to the survivor or the killer?

  • A lot of convincing reasons have been given to make me believe it's likely to be Candyman. I don't remember the exact specifics, but it was a really believable theory that he was originally going to be the killer for the last chapter but his movie got moved and so it made more sense to release him later. But then again, the movie release has again been moved so maybe they'll delay him again if that theory was true.

  • I don't know how y'all can recognize it so easily unless they're showing a misunderstanding of basic mechanics. Even prior to the mmr system, red ranks were full of survivors that were a deal less skilled than me as well as survivors that stomped me. It takes quite a while to realize that the survivors are significantly less skilled than what I should be up against. Not to mention, it doesn't actually happen as often as people like to claim.

  • True, but it's broken.

Well, Myers does stalk people like in the movies, but they needed to make something out of it and it suits really well, Freddy used floor to slow down one girl I can't remember the name and they translated it into snares cuz it would be op otherwise. Like I said I have nothing against Springtrap, but sell me the idea, what his power would be? His weapon? Etc etc..

There have been countless threads suggesting powers for Springlock. While they're somewhat buried now, it really shouldn't be hard to find some to read. But if you don't want to do that, here's some power ideas.

    • Placing traps that cause jumpscares to pop up and cover a significant amount of the survivor's vision for a set amount of time so they can't see where they're running from the center of their screen as well as making them scream.
    • Have music boxes in the game that survivors occassionally need to wind. All music boxes refresh the same timer. If the music boxes goes too long without being wound, then the puppet attacks and downs the survivor who's gone the longest without winding the box and screams letting the killer know where they went down.
    • The ability to summon a random FNaF animatronic into the game for a set time that each require a unique interaction style or else they attack the survivors.
    • Afton can get in and out of his suit with a time consuming animation. While he's out of the suit, the suit itself wanders around on its own and attacks in the general area it was taken off in, but Afton outside of the suit is much slower.

As for his weapon, it's quite obvious that the animatronic suit is the most logical choice.

I guess it COULD set up a situation where if you down someone who is AFK and then reputedly pick them up and drop them gens would be permanently blocked... I mean that’s super narrow for them to add a cooldown to Tremors but it at least provides a reason.

Even if that’s the thinking though cooldown could be lower and still not allow that infinite looping

That's a pretty extreme case, but even then, it's not like you can't do that without tremors. If you carry an afk survivor to one gate and keep dropping them in front of the panel till they escape your grasp and bodyblock it for you, then you can just personally go to the other panel and bodyblock that one. You accomplish the same thing without tremors so it doesn't really help you take the game hostage anymore so than in general being a jerk that needs to get banned.

I don't want to brag about it but what's the point of license then? It should reflect they're power as close as possible, you can't just add something that is out of his character, you can't add something like Myers pulling survivors in dream world, otherwise you could add Scooby Doo with placing snares. His design let's say it's okay, his power is non existent, his weapon also etc etc..

You do realize pretty much every licensed character we have has powers different from what they generally do in their licensed content, right? You mention both Myers and Freddy. Myers didn't stalk people to build up his killing power. Hell, the majority of his victims were actually rather random with no real thought put into their killings. Freddy doesn't have any power that lets him pull people into a dream world and he's not known for using blood pool snares or illusionary pallets.

While you're right that a killer's power should fit their character, I don't think anybody was suggesting anything otherwise. The problem is people who say Springtrap is only about jumpscares so he can't do anything else. That's a ridiculous statement for two reasons. First, that's what most slasher films highly utilize so it's a double standard to attack FNaF but not the rest of the licenses we have that use jumpscares. Second, anybody capable of actually thinking things through realizes that Springtrap doesn't actually kill or attack people with jumpscares; that's just how FNaF executes a game over. Springtrap's primary means of attack is by using the strength of the suit Afton has become one with which is significantly stronger than a human. I don't know if Springtrap itself has a signature kill style anymore, but Afton preferred killing by trapping his victims into animatronic suits and then puncturing the victim with all the suit's mechanical parts.

While I can see an argument against the magnitude. Thrilling Tremors is one of the perks that DOES need a cooldown.

Picking up a Survivor is something that can be done repeatedly even on just a single Survivor. And being able to chain uses of the perk to permanently prevent gen progression is a bit TOO effective, since without a cooldown there is no window to hop on a gen, and the perk is only balanced because it has that weakness.

I can understand a LOWER cooldown, but not NO cooldown.

Doing this would be far often to the killer's detriment than favor. You have to sacrifice hooking survivors in order to be able to do this. Also, this doesn't prevent gen progression on generators that are actually being worked on so this is far from permanently preventing gen progression. Not to mention you could only prevent gen regression for 48 seconds at most with a single survivor before they're hopping off without a hook. Doing this also waste a significant amount of the killer's time since they have to repeatedly go through both the pick up and drop animations in addition to all the hooks they're abandoning.

The only thing I could see this being useful for is some kind of slug only strategy. But even then, it would be really easy to counter for any survivors that are smart enough to adapt to different situations. Picking up a slug is easier than unhooking a hooked survivor. They can move to convenient locations after healing.

  • What's with all this "not working as intended" talk? As far as I can tell, the system is working exactly as intended and that's what the problem is. Having all killer mmr be completely separate was a bad idea that a lot of people pointed out and still happened. Separate to a degree makes sense, but all killers starting out at baseline instead of the average killer mmr for the player was an idea that implemented no foresight.

Also, am I the only one that get slightly bugged when Scott keeps saying mmr is starting at 0? I know what he means, but it kind of distracts from his point.

AhAhAhh, the old attack when someone disagrees concept. Notice I did not insult the OP, even said I hope they get enjoyment from the IP. I referred to the community and the lack luster nature of the product.

But, you apparently can't deal with differing opinions without personal attacks. Good job there. LOL

The phrase "entitled, misguided, toxic, crybaby children" was pulled from your very post. If you have a problem with it, that's pretty much textbook hypocrisy. Then the rest of my post was an example of that kind of person which wasn't clearly directed at anybody (but admittedly, I wasn't going to be surprised if certain people in the thread identified as such). If you found the characteristic of "children who are misguided enough to think that they're entitled to only have killers that they want in the game and respond in toxic ways to people who want things that others enjoy and resort to crying like babies at the suggestion that Springtrap be added" to be personally insulting or an attack, that just suggests that you consider yourself to be such a person but don't like the idea of somebody noticing.

And then after that talk about insulting others you don't agree with, this post soon follows:

    @Pryzm said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1521544#Comment_1521544

So have several people in this thread. As a whole, it is a very toxic community. We call DBD toxic, does that include everyone? No.

Not only are you insulting the FNaF community by calling them toxic, but you then pull one hell of a blatant double standard. You proceed say that when it comes to DbD, not everybody is toxic; but say that the FNaF community is toxic as a whole. Not only is that clearly wrong, it shows an obvious bias.

  • @Pryzm said:

I honestly do think that would be the final straw for me. Freddy brought in a lot of horror fans. Shape, Bubba, GF did as well. PH brought in fans of horror games. Springtrap would do the same as well. But, has anyone actually gone and looked at the forums of this fan base? It is beyond sad. It would bring a ton of entitled, misguided, toxic, crybaby children. This forum would get phenomenally worse than it is now only to bring in a mediocre character who really does not rank in the top 100 of horror killer concepts.

Please, enjoy FNaF and the characters in it if that is your thing. But don't bring that crap here. We have enough joke characters - Clown. Just because it may have some jump scares, does not mean it's a good fit. Same can be said of Pennywise. I don't want to see him in game either. Heck, I'd rather see them go to some classic horror characters in bring us an unholy Nasferatu.

Anyways, done with this Springtrap crap. I tried to get into it and give it a fair shake, but holy crap I could barely get by its horrible fan base before figuring out it was about as scary as a pimple on my arse.

That's funny because I would consider entitled, misguided, toxic, crybaby children to be the kinds of children who are misguided enough to think that they're entitled to only have killers that they want in the game and respond in toxic ways to people who want things that others enjoy and resort to crying like babies at the suggestion that Springtrap be added.

those ranks are a representation of your mmr. are they not?

so, yes. the games are showing you your mmr.

The same thing makes them go up and down, but ranks are a result of victory or loss with no measurement of opponent's skill while mmr is completely based on measuring your opponents skill in comparison to your own and fluctuating the rating accordingly. Your rank changes by the same amount on win/loss while your mmr constantly changes by different amounts. Ranks are a representation of win and loss streaks. Match making rating is an attempt to measure skill.

Also, if you think they're the same thing, shouldn't the main topic of this thread be more of a concern for you? They're claiming they want mmr to be shown. If you think that ranks are a representation of mmr, doesn't that mean it's being clearly represented in a visible manner?

  • @arslaN said:

Except they already said that this system was rating players before it was activated (for months) so I see no justification for how bad it is right now. I played a lot before it was activated and after it was activated and I just recently went against a killer that was playing his first match ever.

I know they did early activation on one of the consoles, but I think it was only put into effect recently for most systems. I know that personally I've been running into more easier matches since the announcement and I'm a PC player.

"the pvp games I play don't show rank"

*proceeds to explain how they they do show rank

Try actually reading what was written instead of what you want to be written to prove an unsaid statement wrong. I quite clearly said that most games hide mmr and only show general ranks. I don't even know how you can misread that unless you're intentionally trying to. Or are you just not smart enough to realize that mmr and rank are 2 different things?

Unless you're also the kind of person who's ignorant to the difference between mmr and rank, how did that possibly prove your statement correct? And even if you don't know the difference, why would you bother posting your original statement when this game still obviously shows rank?

They changed 2 killers multiple times in a short amount of time AND KILLER PERKS in this patch. They didn't touch survivor perks. How's my bias showing? They literally changed killer perks(4 of them), I can't complain about something they did.

You mean the killer perks that are directly tied to the killers that they reworked? The perk changes that provided as many nerfs as buffs? The perks that didn't even fall into the garbage category you seemed to be concerned with in the first place?

  • @CronaWins said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1512324#Comment_1512324

I don't like this as it sounds like an excuse.

Most, if not all games with a ranking system are shown, and i have never seen a person complain or dread about their own rank, apart from the fact that they want to improve.

The previous ranking system was shown and i don't believe anyone had a problem with it, apart from it being clearly broken.

How would it be any different to show it now or later on down the track? That absolutely makes no sense.

Again, we cannot provide feedback on what we cannot see. We don't know how the system determines ranks, skill or how it even works because it's hidden.

I also suspect we won't get patch notes about it either since we won't know if something is/was being changed, if it's working as intended or if something breaks, so they can just hide it from the community without any complaints.

To play 'the game the best they can', we need to see where we can improve, if we are improving or not, the difference between our rank and the people we are vs'ing, otherwise what's the point of having the matchmaking at all if it's hidden? Hell, we don't even know if it's working correctly right now, and i'm not just going to take the Devs word for it.

    @Pawcelot said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1512324#Comment_1512324

There's not many competative games with a working MMR system out there that outright hide the matchmaking statistics from their players. The players playing needs to know if they're doing good or bad, so they can improve themselves.

Which games are y'all playing. The vast majority of pvp games I can think of hide their mmr and only display ranks like what we currently display now exept instead of 20 through 1, a lot are using tiers like bronze, silver, and gold with different divisions amongst them.

  • While it is ridiculous that they haven't reworked some perks that definitely need reworks while reworking 2 entire killers which is without a doubt more labor intensive than perk updates, it just shows your own personal bias to say it's killer sided. Your clearly ignoring all the killer perks that need reworks and only focusing on the survivor perks because you clearly favor that side.

  • The chase system in this game is broken. I was had my hopes up back when Legion's chase breaking cheese was a thing because I was naive enough to think "finally, they'll have to do something about the stupid chase system", but boy was I wrong. Instead of fixing a broken system that would have helped out all the killers and the problem with Legion, they just reworked Legion and hit him while a handful of nerfs.

This is only my opinion and my observation. The petition slowed down and remained within ~48k signatures and Springtrap posts&discussion has died and is being shut down by people who got annoyed with it. I would be glad to be wrong, but the reality is what it is: No FnaF in DbD.

You do realize what the point of the petition was, right? It could have over a billion signatures and that still wouldn't mean FNAF would be added to the game. As long as BHVR and Scott have seen it and started investigating whether it's worth looking into a FNAF chapter, it's served its purpose. The thing is we have no clue what they've thought about it because neither party is really the type to give out information like that.

Reality is what it is, but reality isn't what you define it to be. There is absolutely nothing to suggest that FNAF won't be coming to DbD as well as nothing to suggest that it will. And Springtrap posts may have slowed, but they definitely haven't died. Hell, guess what this very thread is. It's currently between where it was before the Silent Hill chapter and where it is was right after that chapter release.

  • @Dsalter said:

key by far, if you are coordinated, stealth properly and dont get caught all 4 of you can key escape before the killer can even mori a single person.

mori only works well if people spoon feed the killer hooks.

the moment someone is mori'd early, assume its ebony and go stealth mode.

Why would you use a 4 man key escape as an example. That's harder than just escaping normally. It adds a whole extra step. Even 3 man escapes are difficult. 2 man escapes are where it really starts becoming an advantage. And last remaining survivor is about 50/50 whether it's more useful to use a key or just open a door depending on what the killer does.

  • All you have to do is hook somebody for a mori? You do realize the requirement for key use is FAR greater than that. And if you think that keys increasing the chances of other survivors escaping is a problem, but not moris increasing the chances of other survivors dying, that's quite a double standard.

  • I think BHVR might have learned their lesson by now about dark clothing in the game.

  • @Justalittlepeeck said:

Hype is dead and the petition hasn't done anything so you can just forget about it. I wouldn't mind having springtrap in game, but it isn't happening, sadly.

Wow, it's pretty impressive that you know the petition hasn't done anything since that would go against all evidence provided by past behavior of both BHVR and Scott Cawthon. BHVR is tight lipped about upcoming killers, but Scott takes secrecy to a whole new level with his lore.

  • I like using Kindred but with the current aura BS, Bond is currently better because of the range requirement meaning auras are definitely visible instead of the "is that an aura?" crap from long distance auras.

  • An extra perk slot would be too extreme. Something more reasonable would be the bloodweb being 5% cheaper for each prestige level you have on that character.

  • I'm honestly confused as to how they thought they fixed the issue behind penalty hacking only for it to happen again in such a short time frame. I hope they actually take the suggestions of people who seem know better than them when tackling the issue this time.
