The point of the anniversary is to bring cakes? Eeeehm well that is a stretch, I guess the point is more to celebrate the game made it to year 8 and did not die beforehand despite its bad optimization and customization options... I don't really see why cakes are anything else than a symbol for birthday and maybe a portal reference... To say cakes are the reason to celebrate birthdays kind twists things around...
Well if there would be no cakes bringing bp I would not play anniversary it's big reason why we celebrate it. If everyone would just think themself and bring puddlings and escape cake then what is the point?
-
@Seraphor said:
Rather than trying to judge what BP bonuses other players deserve to receive based on your opinion, how about…
An event offering is required in order to pick up invitations.
Without a cobbler, you can't pick up invitations, and therefore can't use: quiet mode, party pallets, remote hooks, remote pallet breaking, etc.
You still get the tryks effects, which might give you one invitation charge, but that's it.
Yes I was thinking something like that I think not bringing cakes should not give you any extra bp from anniversary category. Good idea remove the event abilities as well.
Currently you get bit less bp from gens and hooks if you don't bring cake I think it's half without one but I would remove the extra totally. It's fine still get the multiplayer from normal categories. I think the OP wants to punish players too hard as it's still easy to forgot sometimes.
I would be even fine to add requirement to bring cake for anniversary mode and automatically it would give you free cake if you don't have any well this could be even third game mode just for bp.

I don't get why some people care so much about other people not bringing cakes. Bring the cakes for yourself.

I'm gonna have to disagree with that one because of the way the emblem system worked - getting adepts on certain killers was a nightmare because their powers performed poorly in the Chaser emblem (ex Plague), and instadown killers had to avoid using their power for the same reason. The 4k encourages cheesy behavior while the old system forced killers to play a thorough game, but I'd take that over getting a perfect 12-hook game and then not getting the adept because the stars didn't align with Pluto on a waning gibbous moon.
But yeah, achievements are only rarely the reason behind players trying to 4k. Different people have different ideas of what constitutes fun in this game and those ideas are often at cross purposes.
The emblems could been reworked to take account instadown powers but still old system was better as it required skill and didn't require you to play scummy and slug fof 4K and drag the game. You know even you succeed you might still not get the adept if one survivor bleedouts so new system in my opinion is worse. In old system in red grade adepts were difficult and required perfect game but in lower grades they were pretty easy to get just playing for hooks.
I don't think many people slug for fun but it's more like desire. I need 4K to have the perfect win for example. Sometimes they want to kill specific survivor who they have not found or someone was annoying etc.
-
@TragicSolitude said:
3k is a win
Doesn't unlock Adepts or this stupid Vecna achievement. Also, there's a boon of points for the killer if they stop all 4 survivors from escaping, which they don't get for a 3k and a hatch escape. Tell BHVR to stop designing the game around denying the hatch.
But yeah, it's boring and I avoid doing it as killer unless there's a Tome Challenge or Achievement that requires it.
And who wants their MMR to go up? That's like choosing to get hit on head with a grand piano when you were offered a whiffle bat.
Adepts were better before when they required hooks and you needed skill to get them on higher ranks. Fine they were too easy on lower ranks but they could change requirement to 10 hooks and 3K. But very rarely challenges or adept are reason for slugging maybe 1 out of 50 times.

tldr: either the score shown on the scoreboard is bugged, or the only way to get major event points is to both burn a Cobbler and get lucky enough to get Party Totems (or Party Chests?).
For anyone who doesn't know, event points are not affected by BP offerings, they do not get multiplied. The 20k you earned from normal gameplay is what gets affected by Bloody Party Streamers and Cobblers and all that. The 50k event points are just that, 50k. (Numbers given as generic examples.)
The score shown on the scoreboard shows the number of gameplay points (before multipliers) and the number of event points added together. You can't even really guess a person's entire Bloodpoint pull from the match with that number.
Yes the answer is do all the party totems and this was result for me on survivor. I think overall I got 400K+ bp.
-
I agree it's super annoying and simple bleedout button could solve it in 2vs1.

I have also seen some killer players refuse to use the anniversary cake offerings, seemingly out of spite. They will bring a mori or no offering at all. I really don't understand the motivation behind that other than just intentionally trying to be a jerk.
Or they bring puddling and yes it's shows true colors of those killers. Expect maybe mori they just want kills. But bringing puddling is just so selfiss.

@Rulebreaker said:
Pros:
- Possibility to remove a survivor early and drastically increase chance of 4k
- Not much thinking required
- Easy to implement at a base level
- Can be done by any killer with any build
Cons:
- Can backfire if you tunnel the wrong survivor (aka someone who's much better than you)
- There are a handful of perks specifically designed to punish this type of play style.
- Boring all round (this is admittedly subjective)
- Does not improve the killers skill much
- Repeated use ends up putting the killer against survivors good enough where the killer is effectively a joke no matter what they do (aka: puts them in a spot where their lack of skill shows)
- Inflates egos (possibly subjective, but has proven as fact to us so far)
This and I would maybe add cons when you lose you get less bp and score when other survivors just fix gens and match ends quickly and it also makes games more stressful.
Subjectively losing this way feels even worse than when just losing and playing for hooks etc.
Pros: I would add it allow chance for comeback.
-
@Crowman said:
Well tunneling after all the gens are done isn't really that effective.
Like it or not, the most effective time to tunnel a survivor out in the match is right at the start.
What is more effective tunneling strong survivor from start or later caught weaker survivor off the guard? In my experience the latter is more effective.

Killer matches are still sub 15 seconds, bonuses are pure liar
So they get matched instantly and get 20k bp, good enough I guess
You usually have to wait at least minutes and if I get 20K on killer on match I win I feel I lost.
-
I play mostly chill (no tunneling). But still often someone tends to get more my focus because going 8 hooks is big challenge. I do usually let 2 survivors escape in the end and do last gens especially if there is suicides or if I go too hard on them.
In normal match my 6-7th hook tend to eliminate someone most often. After I have 1K I want everyone to death hook and still 1 will be eliminated. I think it would be bit unfair to eliminate just one and let other three go. I still want some sacrifices as well but I know I get them by just playing normally and sometimes it's fine to lose. 2K with 10 hooks is my win condition.

Killer is laughably easy at the moment. I always get a good laugh out of the resident killer mains on this forum trying to gaslight people into thinking killer is difficult in pub matches. I played killer back in the days of old old haddonfield and old old dead hard. The game was actually sort of challenging then. This current state of game balance is an absolute joke.
Maybe you exaggerate here bit? I admit many games I win multiple gens remaining on killer quite easily but I then let last 2 survivors fix remaining gens and escape usually. Still some games are hard when you face good survivors.

I always wonder when ds was buffed, one of the arguments was: while good players can make good use of it, its absurd to expect new or average players to have the skill to make it worth with 3 seconds. Which I think its absolutelly reasonable. Idk why the argument flips on the killer side tho, either its fine to change unfun mechanics that actually good players can counter in order for less skilled players to have an easier time or it isnt fine.
Good players don't even need ds I had to go purposelly down often to use it.

@ReverseVelocity said:
Well yeah, I'd imagine there's a lot more Killers playing than Survivors, considering the fact that Killers have auto-hooks and the ability to remotely break pallets.
The twisted skills are a lot more killer favored. The only REALLY busted thing Survivors got was the Heal + Expose card, which is random.
The non-event mode has +100% on killer most of the time, I've been playing that for a bit.
In event mode you can earn up to 400 000 bp if lucky so never play normal if you want bp. I noticed just playing normal significantly reduced my bp gain.
@Leon_Scott_Kennedy said:
I swear all day long its only ever on survivor, it may switch to killer for maybe 1 or 2 games then right back to survivor again, just make them both 150 at this point its annoying to feel more obligated to play survivor because the bonus is on it all day long
Killer still likely earn more than survivors even without bonus so you can play killer if you want it's not much of difference. I do have habit playing the side which has bonus so it looks temping to play survivor to earn bp but with everyone bringing cakes it's actually more worth to play killer.

@Neaxolotl said:
Insta downing takes as much skills as hitting someone, which you only need to do twice without instadown
I don't understand big difference here
I say instadown is usually harder than hitting someone once (m1) with bubba and hillbilly as you need to use their powers well. Agains't myers well survivors will always play safer making it usually bit harder than normal m1.
-
I will let go on that situation and let you have hatch. No-one should expect save in that sitiation. I think in your situation killer wanted to kill you because he hadn't hooked you yet but I think teaming is wrong way to do that. I think for survivor to do that it might be agains't rules.
But it falls bit on grey area because sometimes survivor can think killer is farming and it's only happens at the very end of the match in 2vs1. So it can be tricky to say. Also sometimes killers just want to let specific survivor to escape too.

Well believe it, they have a few hundred hours each and we win often. Of course not against nurse and only sometimes blights. Windows of Op carried them for a while and still does honestly.
Would you say you face more new/casual killers? I think experienced killers should beat you guys at least 50/50 times. They could win even more but many killers play for hooks/fun instead optimally so I can see them losing when you play optimally with strong stuff BNP:s etc. But how you guys do agains't tunneling killer who focus on your weaker friends taking them potentially quickly out?
I also have another swf (surviving with family) and that's when I communicate but we do significantly worse than with swf who I don't talk. Simple reason is we only have 2 good players me and my lil bro. But my twin bro is too casual and lil sis and cousin are weak links/new players. They lack game sense, gen/looping effiency. Sometimes feels we do even worse than I do in soloQ… We might do just bit better.

@HexHuntressThighs said:
Imagine having a permanent 24 meter killer instinct placed on you at all times. SWFs are incredibly strong for that reason, me and my friends aren’t that great considering 3 of them are almost brand new and I only have a few hundred hours on survivor but we constantly win whenever we choose to. Unless of course it’s Nurse, Blight, Plague or Wesker.
The killer has essentially no element of surprise at all because me and the others constantly call out their almost exact locations and what direction they are heading. Easily letting a teammate across the map know the killer is going for them so they can hide behind a wall and not be found.Not to mention coordinating all our perks and calling out when and where we are going down and so on. I guarantee if Nurse and Blight didn’t exist, survivors could easily get a 1,000 plus escape streak. I can have my friends bring the best tool box in the game with double charges all running BTL, SW, SB and Scav or Resil and we can win pretty much anytime we want. S Tier killers permitting and item counts permitting. But it’s just not very fun.
Tl; Dr: SWFs are OP because of the insane info and coordination capabilities, and could win more often if they played super sweaty
I find that kinda hard to believe at best case scenario it can work like that but if you're friends are new to the game they go down in 10s.
I play swf and only reason we win is because we all can loop very well and make gens effiently. We have 10 000+ hours so that should be expected. Good killers can win us though. We don't use communication and not often it is neccessary.
We actually often win agains't good blights and nurses but like some unknown player ramdomly destroyed us recently. Squad I play with even won lilith omen.
-
I think it's Karma bringing puddling instead cakes.
-
It's coming next month as limited time mode with 5 original killers.

This post is the definition of bait.
If you're genuinely getting a 4k on almost all of your matches by playing fairly, then congratulations You're playing how you want and winning.
But somehow thinking that a scenario where a near 100% win and kill rate… in a pvp game...isn't at least some kind of balance issue means you are likely missing something pretty drastic.
But I suspect none of this is actually real or true in the first place, which is why I consider it to be bait.
I think you are taking it too literally what they mean getting 4K:s is that they still get them most of time. Even tunneling does not give you 100% kill rate unless you play nurse/blight and are level of supalf or momo.
-
It's unique map and even it's has lot of pallets I rarely have problems there on killer and win most my game. I also lose most games on survivor there but still have fun.
-
Well anniversary has bring more toxic killers literally. I didn't first believe but now I seen it so I don't blame gen rushers. I tunneled first person out on killer too but I had good reason being drinking too much.
-
Yeah it really sucks and even the fact survivors can bring 4 times more cakes than killers so once anniversary is over survivors run much faster out of them and amount of bp everyone earn decrease 4 times.
So it would be benefit for everyone if survivors get cakes as much as killers. Well im still waiting on xbox but do P100 players still get 1 cake per bloodweb because that sucked even more.

No. Blight is still a lot stronger. Hillbilly is definitely a very powerful killer and he has an addon (LoPro Chains), that now pushes him too far but Blight is still better. The main difference between Blight and Hillbilly is, that a Blight can always readjust. Billy on the other hand cannot. He misses you and you are safe for a while. Billy is also more predicatable then Blight and needs more set up for his power work in chase.
I see that the "showcase" that Hens did a while ago was brought up in this thread and I find it funny, that the we take this video without even the least bit of salt.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-zw3TipZqU
Not only does the Hillbilly have a stronger loadout, the survivors also play pretty terrible. These are comp players and yet, they don't know that the syn car is incredibly unsafe against the new Hillbilly and try to loop that of all tiles on the map? Pre drop the pallet and leave like you'd do with any other loop (except maybe shack). Or how about the Nea on Thompson House, that walks in a dead zone, so the killer has an easier time back revving her instead of using her Sprint Burst to get away. Survivors in public lobbies play a lot better than that. This looks like paid actors.
If this is the best they can do, then that's embarrassing.
You are not safe from hillbilly if he misses his cooldown is so small that you barely make any distance. Blight has longer cooldown if he misses and he can't even instadown you. Hillbilly feels stronger of these killers.

Nobody is earning that much my friend. I'm done with the event. The status effects are ridiculous, and the game is over at 4 or 5 generators remaining.
My Killer queue times are too long for my thin patience and soloq is just getting demolished.
People want to finish generators for extra points so if you get hooked, fully expect to go to your next hook state before you get rescued.
It probably gets better once you get some xbox killers to face matches agains't them were ez wins on soloQ today. Now that I think about it I would want to know all platforms kill rates. Because I bet console killers have smaller kill rate than pc. But I still take pc killers if it means I get to play anniversary. My matches we still get normally often 3-5 gens done on soloQ.

What? Zero Bloodpoints? I don't understand.
I have 4.5 million bp waiting for anniversary and most others have over cap so I get zero bp. Well even if we would get bp it's feels we get almost zero maybe 20K from good match when other platforms earn 200K+ from match at the moment.

As soon as I get enough Trinkets, I'm going back to regular matches.

I just faced appearently pc killer playing on xbox maybe hacking? So it's not any better and we get zero bp.

One of the few games I've enjoyed enough to go all the way on.
What I like about most trophies in DBD is you can go for them while still mostly participating in normal play. You might take a particular suboptimal build or different playstyle, but broadly speaking your actual goal still falls in line with trying to win the game. There are some exceptions, but for the most part you can earn majority of them just playing the game (relatively) normally.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/SYI8B4P68WSR/screenshot-20240613-210425-ps-app.jpg
Almost all of them I've earned legit, the only exception was Huntress Mastery... I have scored maybe 16 or so legitimate axe downs over 24m... but the PS4 to PS5 trophy unlock bug popped this one for me...
Of course I'm not too beat up about it given the fact that this trophy is 20 on other platforms... and 100 is just absurd 😅😅😅
That skilled huntress achiement must been so painful I already hated it on xbox even I had to do it only 20 times. I farmed it with survivors throwed hatches from far away. Maybe I had 3-4 before doing that legimitely.

I get how this is killer mains only. Clearly cause I see mostly only about 6k bp for survivors so why would we help inflate Kille mains who don’t think about others.
I see survivors earning only 6K very rarely you either very unlucky or exaggerate. Matches where I see this survivors either give up or it's god nurse/blight/hillbilly. One survivor can occasionally earn that low if he is hard tunneled out but at worst that can happen 1/4 games to you and other survivors can still earn decent amount.

6K with full bonus turns out to be around 30k, which is enough to earn you 2-3 additional cakes.
Do you understand how that's exponential growth?
Then there's the games where you all get 30k, with bonuses bringing it up to 150k+, netting you another 10+ cakes.
This and only 9000 bp on average per game could just net you more cakes than you could save them by not using them at all.
-
Yeah I estimate I have missed now 2-3 million bp and lot of cakes. Xbox players deserve 2 million bp compensation at this point it's been so long.
-
Not all killers or survivors play sweaty and you still better off using them as you can buy with bp even more cakes.
-
I will update nancy she is already P87 though so I probably just update after that everyone else.
-
He is supposed to down you quickly and counter looping but you can still predrop pallets to buy time. Clown is very good in 1vs1 but sucks in 4vs1 so if all other survivor just do different gens you can beat him.
-
I think it's bit too weak now for most killers without mobility. They should kept 20% for total progress and not change it back to current progress. So then it would probably be alright.
-
I agree we get less playing time on the event it's unfair. What they should do is to make event longer for xbox and give some extra cakes for compensation.
I would now earned 1 million+ bp definetely and get many cakes. So just giving us 100-300K for example is not anywhere enough. Very least they should give us 1 million bp.

@Rythoriak said:
We all know the most famous example: Someone afk'ing 30 minutes in a locker as the last survivor alive to deny Evil Incarnate. You pull them out and all of a sudden they're not afk and after stunning you run right back into the locker.
I personally had LOTS of people deny my progress for RPD gates (renamed myself Mercy RPD Gates) in all kinds of obscene ways. Worst ones were killers d/c'ing as the last gen popped and saying "No progress for you" in the endgame chat. Had several killers opening 1 gate as the last gen popped themself and camping the other gate. More commonly just tunneling and camping me because of my name right from the getgo (took me almost 50 offerings to get 10 gates open in solo queue from this).
How do you feel about people who go out of their way to these extremes to deny achievements?
That sounds extreme cases you were unlucky to get people like that. To get Evil incarnate you really need to face new players as they don't know locker is easy counter. But denying that for 30 minutes is just brutal. Why not let killer get it at that point you're dead anyway a that point it's just cruel.
I myself faced two survivors just staying on locker as well and after 15 minutes I hooked them as I was done. But got that achiement luckily on my next game. That just sad from killers to dc or open gate and camp the other to just deny your rpd achiement... That achiement is already nightmare.
Seems some players just get little boost that they at least ruined your game when their own got bad. You probably should not changed your name as that only seemed to make it worse. I give 7 for people purposelly ruining achiements.

@Xernoton said:
You see the problem, don't you? You don't run meta perks but you play against people that do. That already puts you at a significant disadvantage. This is sadly a huge issue on both sides. Trying to get value out of some obscure builds is only going to end with you losing no matter which side you play.
I agree, that survivor content in recent years hasn't been great overall. There were a few maps and perks that were absolutely broken (reworked Boil Over, MfT, CoH, Garden of Misery, Borgo) but aside from these things, which the devs mostly dealt with, it hasn't been great. Many perks that were dead on arival, map reworks like Haddonfield, that are absolutely terrible and a bunch of killer buffs (that were mostly needed) have definitely taken a toll on the survivor experience. I think playing survivor is still fun but I hope that the devs will soon release some nice perks (like Nic Cage's) again, that people will actually enjoy using.
The main issue this game struggles with is that it's incredibly difficult to find the middle ground between balanced and fun for both sides. When kill rates were closer to 50%, survivor queue times took forever because the overall experience as a killer was pretty bad. Now we're slowly going towards the opposite end. I honestly care much less about the results than the match itself. But even that is very inconsistent when you play solo queue. Sometimes you have pretty decent team mates and everything works well, other times you lose against a Pinhead on Garden of Misery because you constantly have to get the box while 2 of your team mates run around looking for totems and the last is in chase. Now which of these games is more memorable?
I think the kill rate was around 50-55% for most killers before 6.1. Average might been exactly 53% which sounds fine on paper but suicides for example inflated that so match where survivors tried they had better chance to win. Probably perk like noed carried many killers too. Playing agains't dead hard was terrible back then so I think that made players not like playing killer.
Now kill rate seems to be in 60-65% range and that seems little too high. Because soloQ is the side who suffers most. Many maps have been nerfed and made smaller to give m1 killers chance. If gens don't get done quickly the match is lost as resources end quickly. Maybe it would be good to test balance around 55-60% kill rate that might make it more fair and add some of the weaker maps more pallets or something.

I just feel like most games 4-5 gens are getting done. On killer it is really annoying by the time I have found, chased, downed and hooked 1 person 2 gens are done and a 3rd is 50%+. Or 3 gens are really close to being done. On solo-q is just as annoying. I hate getting found first, chased, downed and hooked in less than 2 min and spend most of my time on hook rather than doing gens and helping teammates. If this happened every now and then ok it's not a big deal but this is nearly every game for both cases. Makes this game really frustrating at times.
I also feel that the kill rate for killers across the board is deceptive and doesn't take into account the pace of play. I've had many games where I get 3 or 4 kills but there is 1 to 0 gens remaining and I didn't start getting pressure until 2 gens were done and a 3rd about to be completed. Point here being that just cause I got a 4k it doesn't mean that pace of play isn't a problem.
The sad part is that idk what to do to fix it and make it so that every player has a chance to play the game and not feel super stressed out. Buffing either side too much would make play miserable for the other side.
Anyone have any ideas on what could be done to make the pace of play "balanced"?
Also, if there was some data on avg number of gens done and avg match time that would help. Cause I seriously feel like its 4.0 + for gens and time is less than 10 min per match.
That sounds ideal close games should happen more often. It's also stressful for both sides but you can reduce the stress setting yourself other goals than just 3-4K. The game is now balanced around more for killer with 60% kill rate so making games longer at this point would only make killers stronger.
Many maps are made smaller and amount of pallets reduced so long games are just not possible survivors have to get the gens done quickly or they certainly lose. Tunneling/camping are also very strong.

not really? Tunnelers keep an eye on the hooked person and regular killers just ignore it pretty much
It's not that black and white. Many return to the hook when they hear that sound and has not yet found anyone. Ofcourse if someone really wants to tunnel it's not going to stop them but if they don't pay attention it might cause delay at least. It would not be anyway strong but adding that effect to quardian would make that perk bit better maybe even some would use it.

Hard to play does not make killer weak. We could say nurse is weakest killer because lowest kill rate.
