  • I have to agree with everyone here that says take the escape, ignore the ranking system and play the next match. They aren't all going to play out like that.

  • Oh my goodness, the Devs listened to you whiny killers and you're STILL not satisfied?? Just goes to show how good killers have skill and doesn't complain, while the terribly skilled killers do all the complaining.

    Oof.

If that last part was a shot at me being "toxic/trash talking" I'm simply having a conversation with the Gentleman I was speaking too. Secondly I said in each post that while I mostly share his views on DBD current rank system there are still many who care about it and that's why I do not feel ranks could disappear without it affecting people (because many people do enjoy a rank system). While I do not think DBD could feasibly support a casual/competitive split on its player base I do hope we get such an option down the line.

If I may may point out, arguing that you feel there is too much toxic behavior in the forums and then enacting the same behavior towards the individual you feel perpetrates this behavior does nothing to help your case. Toxicity only begets more toxicity.

Except I didn't enact any behavior, I'm just calling it how I see it. Nice try to bait me though, it was a good setup.

    Afraid that's a "strawman" argument.

While you and I may not care about ranking during a match MANY players enjoy the more competitive side of DBD and the pip system is meant to measure your match performance, however when it seems so "off" from the game you just played it leaves a poor taste in your mouth.

So to say "who care about ranks at this point"...well, lots of people do and they have every right to enjoy that aspect of the game.

That's a bunch of crap, all due respect. I play for fun and I enjoy the competitive part too, but I don't care about pipping and there are a lot of people that don't either, because there's nothing to gain from it other than having leverage to trash talk and be toxic....oh, now I understand the reason why.

Here's one con, I'd quit the game. Want peewee Herman as a survivor too?

His perk would be Sarasota movie theater?

  • I've seen a ton of Ghostface and I'm sick of seeing him honestly.

  • I see Ghostface in just about all of my trials and they're either abusive to hooked survivors, or they're toxic, or both. He can go away for a couple of months now.

  • Killers want 4k because it let's them pip. I'm not sure what the big obsession is with pipping, but with the way (killers mainly) are triggered by it, I'm convinced that they must be getting a cash payout for each pip and have to pay a bill if they don't. It's laughable. Ranking doesn't mean anything. Pipping doesn't define how good you are (you're not going to convince me otherwise, so don't bother). Killers will have games where they'll wreck a trial and games where they'll struggle. Stop worrying about all of that and play to have fun! If your life revolves around pipping and it causes you to become triggered and/or hostile, maybe you should try to get out more.

  • I honestly didn't see any issues with how things were before. I escaped sometimes and I got killed 2 minutes into a trial. still believe that these changes were unnecessary because complaining killers chose chase survivors they couldn't catch, instead of finding an easier target to chase. But, this is where we are. I can't loop to save my life, but can evade a killer at times. I run a stealth build, was thinking of running Urban Evasion with Sprint Burst for both stealth and mobility, but for now, I'll see how things go with the updates.

Lara doesnt make any more sense than Drake. Half the reason Croft is so popular is because shes such a sex symbol. Shame too, her games are always fun and well made.

Id like to see an Adventurers DLC pack that comes with both!

That and she revolutionized having women as the main character in games, which I disagree with because you can't ignore Samus Aran. I have all the Tomb Raider games, they're fun as heck, but all the other stuff takes away from it.

  • Just played a match where Meg proceeded to potato the gen, sandbag me and I end up getting sacrificed by Freddy. Gotta love bad survivors.

  • Only if he can climb stuff.

  • Survivors: "rework Ebony Mori and hitboxes."

Killers: "Nerf all survivor perks and items"

Can't wait to see the next issue you killers have, though I will side with you on the NOED fiasco.

  • Ghostface is 1 and Doctor is 1a. After that, it's Billy, Leathercamp and Spirit. I'm pretty ok with everyone else.

  • Those survivors were dumb for not breaking totems. They got what they deserve.

  • @Zarr0ch said:

I usually solo queue! Which is why kindred is such a useful perk for me at the moment. If their seagulling, I'm staying on the gen.

Also good to see campers :)

I have Kindred on a few of my survivors, my Claudette though runs a pretty safe build that keeps me out of a lot of killer interaction, but I can't tell if a killer camps.

  • Claudette and David if it's a bro lobby

Ok so im about to rant a bit now, i usually play legion, shape and huntress but have been teying to get better with nurse, i have gotten better but im a rank 11 and i keep getting matched up with rank 4 to 1. I dont think this is fair since they are way better than me. Im not saying that the killer always has to be better but that i get matched with people of the same skill level like other games do. Does this happen to anyone else?

You sound like a good killer. Take matches like those as a measuring stick to see just how good you are and what skills do you need to improve on. It's a slow process, but if you're dedicated to getting better, you'll be able to not only hang with the higher ranks, but win some games too. Don't let it frustrate you though and know your limitations, your strengths will be enough to get you by. Good luck in the fog!

  • I'm with you, some of the things my survivor team does bugs me to no end! I had a match last night where someone got hooked and everyone ran to help. I was the only one doing gens. Ended up doing 4 of them while they were playing ring around the hook with the killer. Then they all got slapped and I had to stop what I'm doing to revive a couple of them. I had another game where a Meg was helping me with a gen and she not only potato it, she runs and drops a pallet for no reason. I won't even talk about the sandbagging. It's the risk I take with playing solo survivor though.

I am normally the first person to beg for killer buffs. I have played killer the majority of my time in DBD. I want killers to be strong again so they don't feel the need to have to rely on NOED to get pity kills at the end of the game. I'm always going to be able to be high ranked on either side. I just have the game knowledge that makes it easy. Doesn't mean I want to win every game. I actually got mori'd in like 4 straight games last night and told the killers gg it's nice to die once in awhile. And that was that.

And I emphasize with you killers because I know it's not easy to chase 4 people. I also believe that NOED is not the problem. Ebony Mori is more of a priority for any killer item/perk that should be reworked.

  • @GrannyonAcid said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1228255#Comment_1228255

Because no body likes NOED. The only people that enjoy NOED are people that have never played anything other then killer. No ones ever been hit by NOED at the end of the game and laughed. "Oh he got me good with that Noed! What a fun perk that is. I hope we find more killers tonight that use it. It makes the game feel really refreshing!"

That's where you're wrong, I'm a survivor main and as a survivor main, I don't have a problem with NOED. I do what I need to to prevent it, but if I get tagged by it, guess what? I get hooked and I either die or get rescued. I'm not all "jolly gee goodness" like you say, but I can accept it for what it is. It's a game, I'm not going to escape all the time. I'll probably never be a red rank and that's ok. Nobody is paying me to play, so I just have fun with it. Does it have flaws? Of course. But for you all that complain about this and that because you're not winning or because you're a red rank you should never lose, you all are being ridiculous. I've never seen a game trigger people to lose their mind like this.

I mean... Posting the same answer to every topic about it isn't helping either. Breaking totems is fine. But what feels bad about NOED is when you do break totems. Maybe 3-4 in a match. But no one on your team decided to break a totem or it was really well hidden. And then you get hit with NOED and die on a single hook. It feels like crap.

Give survivors a perk that allows them to spawn into the map and see all 5 totems highlighted. And I'll break all the totems. But NOED just feels bad and annoying. Hopefully on the new patch killers will be a little bit stronger. So they can stop running NOED and the game can go back to being normal. But right now seeing it every game is zzzZzzzz.

Then blame your team, don't blame the devs and ask for nerfs. Plenty of times I've got slapped by NOED when I've broken 2 or 3 totems. It's not the game or the hex fault that it works like it should. And while you're talking about me answering the same thing to every post, talk about why there are so many posts to begin with.

They're not even nerfing the perk in this thread. Do you feel like it's your job to keep all the "babies" informed about how the perk works? How about analyzing realistic strategies survivors can actually use to avoid NOED whilst also maintaining high efficiency and not gambling their time on a make believe perk the killer might not have? You literally just spout "break totems" like you've never actually faced a good killer using NOED well. Or you can just clarify that your advice comes from a place of less experience and therefore only applies to more casual environments within the game.

    TL;DR

"Break totems" is not the counter to NOED and I'm pretty fed up with hearing it all the time. It's almost like killers justify the use of the perk by saying it has a simple counter and is therefore not a problem.

Break totems is not the counter to NOED??? LOL! You just lost all credibility with all of your posts.

  • @MegaWaffle said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/145837/do-you-defend-dcing-if-so-why

Can you imagine if a player on a sports team just threw a tantrum if something didn't go how they wanted and walked out of the match?

    ....oh wait Football (soccer) exists...nvm.

Antonio Clown is raising his hand lol.

There are some DCs that are understandable, life problems, getting abused while hooked, being picked on match after match, seeing the same killer constantly, I get it. But doing it because you got slapped by NOED or because of a mistake you made, that's weak.

  • No. Just no. Break totems, no NOED. Why is this so hard to accomplish? Devs should make Dead By Daylight Lite for all the babies that complain about things because they're too lazy to do stuff in game.

  • Here's an idea, it's crazy but bear with me...

    Break Totems.

I also thought it was called NOED because that meant that even though survivors completed the objectives, they still can't escape so easily, but what do I know. *shrugs* Your version should be called NOAED, which sounds silly. Just follow my crazy idea and you won't have to worry about NOED.

  • @indieeden7 said:

Dont see how people still don't know that if this happens, it means that you were lucky enough to get the minimum pallet spawn. The game has to force pallets wherever it can in order to meet the minimum, thus resulting in this.

"Oh c'mon! You know that maps aren't supposed to have pallets" - Killers

  • I can emphasize with killer mains. Having to chase 4 people around a map isn't easy. I always say that if the 1st kill can happen quickly, then the trial gets easier from there. The games I play on PS4, the killers that are green rank and up are pretty good, for the most part. There are some powerful lower rank killers too, but I'm not sure if it's skill, or they've deranked on purpose. However, I get on here and all the killer mains are saying nerf everything that belongs to a survivor. So is it that the bad killers are the only ones with gripes?

The levels of entitlement and bias, my god! "If they team does bad, I should escape!" Every other team game in the world goes like this: the team sucks, they all lose. Instead, the survivors of this game think that "my team sucks, but I should bring home the trophy anyway." If no gens have been done, why is a survivor getting hatch fair? It's literally an undeserved escape. But you'll defend that to the death as well!

You DO know that you can close the hatch as a killer and take that opportunity away, right? I swear you killers find anything to complain about. Next you all will complain that the horse on the Chapel map talks strategy with survivors through the headset.

Ghostface is more popular than I ever expected him to be. I don't think he's OP though. But I do like variety.

Yeah he's not OP to me, just tired of seeing him lol. He's the main reason why I run Spidey Sense (Spine Chill).

  • @EvilJoshy said:

Would you rather have billy or spirits every match?

I rather have a variety. Ghostface and Doctor are my least favorite, then Billy, Leathercamp and Spirit. So to answer your question, it wouldn't make much of a difference in the dislike category.

  • @illusion said:

Just because they kill you doesn't make them toxic.

They all don't kill me, as soon as someone gets hooked though, bring on the antics!

  • Serious questions for you killers, are survivors not supposed to have things to help keep them alive? There should be no such thing as survive at all cost, as long as possible? Should it be that once a survivor is caught it's instant death?

  • Coming from a survivor here, NOED is fine. I break totems, hopefully the team has the same mindset. If you get dropped by NOED, blame goes either to you for not breaking totems, or to your team for not breaking them. Gens are main, but totems are your objective too. Stop being lazy and break bones!

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

After playing a couple hundred NOED games as survivor as of late, I have come to a very clear conclusion. Cleansing dull totems is not the best way to counter NOED. It takes 70 seconds for the cleansing animations alone which is nearly enough time to finish a gen. Instead of giving the killer a free gen, I suggest not healing and just pumping gens or if you want to go for saves NOED can always be cleansed after it has already applied to a hex. Cleansing dull totems just means the killer is getting max value from their NOED or in the worst case scenario the killer doesn't even have NOED and your team just wasted a whole gen's worth of time picking apart bones. If you like bp or use Inner Strength, cleansing the dull totems is still a very viable strat, but speaking optimally I suggest the other strategies I mentioned pertaining to countering NOED.

Translation: "I'm too lazy to break totems"

  • @PigMainClaudette said:

I regularly do 2-4 bones and I'M the one who gets hit by it. My bitching is justified.

Same. I do bones before starting gens. Some survivors just do gens and don't bother with the totem 2 feet from them. Somehow, I can break 3 totems and still get clapped by NOED.

I said I meant I only just found the forums you dum dum..

Instead of calling people names, why don't you concentrate on breaking totems so you won't have to worry about NOED.

  • I'm tired of seeing these posts. If you're too lazy to break totems, then you deserve the NOED. I swear some of you guys whine because it's easy and you're not willing to put in the work.

  • I think the changes are unnecessary. Devs hold the killer's hand a lot. I like the game the way it is, outside of the broken hitboxes, that should have been the main change in the update if anything.

Dude are you still serious with your pathetic little whiny posts? We get it, devs mean, only care for killers, hurr durr.

Just stop with the attitude of blaming the devs of only caring for killers in every second thread you freaking post. It won't get anyone to take you serious, or to take your concerns serious.

Just for your information, the reveal mechanic can be bad for both sides. I have been revealed and have revealed Ghost Face behind walls as well already. The reveal mechanic is bugged in a way that can hurt both sides.

And again, most of your concerns are fair, but your continuous accusations of the devs only caring for killers won't help your case.

Maybe because what he's saying is true, devs only make pro killer changes.

  • Self care is great when survivors run off after unhooking you.

How about we just get rid of all survivor perks? Goodness, if it's not one survivor perk nerf, it's another.

  • I'm terrible against Spirit, let me know if you want an easy kill.

  • I don't even bother with toolboxes anymore. I try to avoid them on the bloodweb with the flashlights.

  • Lol I did the broken key thing when I first got one (was still very new to the game), felt like a fool when I found out that it doesn't work. I guess that game wasn't meant for key use *shrugs*

  • American PS4 here, solo survivor queue times at night are minimal 10 minutes for me.

  • Next the killers will whine that the horse on the Chapel map makes too much noise and it helps survivors find the hatch. Nerf!

Someone mentioned that the devs helped survivors by nerfing Hex Ruin, I'm guessing that they forgot about the Toolbox nerf when they mentioned that.

  • Next the devs will eliminate all the houses on the Haddonfield board because killers complained that they couldn't see survivors through them and it's not fair.

  • I think you did good from the points you got. You got beat by a top squad, but you were able to hang with them. I bet you've been up there before, so sharpen your skills and it won't be a quad next time.
