So you wanted to jump into hatch in front of killer, he closed it to you and you are crying on forum now.

I don't think confidence issue. I think it's just an attempt to discourage people from doing what normally happens in other multiplayer games where people are judged on their stats often negatively.
I'm noting it is the right thing to do cause people just moved on to judging folks on everything from prestige level to whether or not they are using certain cosmetics or not. I get why people want to see their stats and I know why people are interested in seeing others stats, but dbd might the worst game to look at stats in.
It's normal, but like dbd ain't normal and thus its stats aren't normal. We don't even have to see them to know that the stats this game produces is abnormal because we get to experience the decision making that follows the stats and we do know what stats are being collected we also know that to a degree they ain't accurate. There are conditions where entire games get dropped from stat collection regardless of outcome sometimes.
So to me, it's neither better nor worse if the community get their stats from nightlight considering either way the numbers at that point exist out of context and lack accuracy.
I don't care about personal data. It's fine they want to hide it, so players don't tryhard even more they already do.
I would be completely fine with global data. Kill rate, pick rate filter for regions, maps, MMR etc.

game have bloodlust mechanic soo just play your game...
If you are forced into bloodlust for each hit, you lost that game.
Well, not with current event where you can just expose them.... but that will be gone soon.

There are definetly worse killers in DBD.
Larry is far from weakest, but he is definetly most map dependant killer in the game.
He is really fun to play on maps like Autohaven Wreckers. Just give me open map, where I can freely use my power. That's fun.
When you get with him on map like Léry's Memorial, or just any indoor map. It's hell.
Issue is that Larry is kinda like Hag. You can't use standard playstyle. It's kinda like weird hit&run with his power.
-
Just don't use his power in chase and play M1 hammer killer.
You can use chainsaw to travel around map etc.

This is true that stats outside of context can be misleading.
Which is why I think we've never really gotten proper access to them as players.
Yeah, but is it really better when community have to do it for them (nightlight) and it forces everyone else to work with incorrect data?
It's simply normal to show statistics for almost every multiplayer game. It's not really good they are not confident enough to share results.

I don't see what is hypocritical about this.
They're job requires them to keep track of stats for purposes of balancing the game. We don't absolutely need to have viewable stats in order to enjoy the game.
Statistics are tool needed for balancing, but you shouldn't balance mainly around statistics without understanding context.
That's how we ended with them trying to nerf Billy add-ons, or Nemesis add-on nerfs, Pig nerfes etc.
They did improve lately, but wouldn't say they are good.

You could just run and keep spamming it so survivor never get a chance
Exactly this was my whole point.
His movement speed is 3.08 m/s during charging shock. That's just so low.
If it was something like 3.5 m/s, he would still be slower than survivors, but it would simply feel way better to play as.

Seems like they want people to not get hung up on stats and just focus on having fun regardless of the stats. I mean the game doesn't even really do a great job at keeping basic score in a way that makes sense from game to game.
While they do exactly this all the time... Hypocrites

I wrote pig for nerf hoping they get the joke. deathslinger for buff. Rework I am not sure. Rework is really strong term. Maybe Trapper or Myer's? not really sure. Rework often means delete an entire killer and make new killer from same killer art assets. I do not think any killer needs deletion, more so modification. I would more be on the line to say that killer need add-on reworks, not total deletions.
Rework can be simply changes in bigger scale than number changes.
Add new mechanic to existing kit for example. I wouldn't want rework ala league of legends, that's what you said: remove and create new killer...
Just nuke Mori add-ons and buff basekit Myers.
Same system for Sadako.

You have no idea how dogshit hit detection looks like.
Their first version of server validation was so bad it made me stop playing DBD for a year.
-
Well,
Camping is worse, end game build is worse, stacking regression perks is worse, 3-gen is worse.
Only thing that got better with healing nerfs is hit&run, but not all killers can do it effectively.
Also fact that DS is trash, it's not surprising you see lot of tunneling.
There is simply no reason to hook other survivors, when someone gets on deadhook.
Camping and 3-gen are going to get nerfed more. So prepare for more tunneling.
-
@JawsIsTheNextKiller said:
It depends when they start camping. If they camp just because 3 gens have been done then yes, blame the killer. The game is not over and camping isn't fun for either side.

You mentioned lowering instead of removing. I specifically didn't respond to that, because as you said that would depend on how much lower it would be (and sure - maybe some small buff would be OK. I don't think Herman is particularly strong or weak though - but I know he's quite easy to play - so making him too strong is probably not a good way to go as he would become very oppresive low MMR stomper). So there was nothing to respond to.
All I was doing was responding to OP's suggestion of removing it entirely and my last response was to "just buff him so much, that he will rival wesker's pick rate".
I wouldn't remove it for sure.
You could just run and keep spamming it so survivor never get a chance. Sad is he could still lose games, because M1 killer...
But especially with MFT, his slowdown is massive issue for him. There is no point in using his power against it, which I don't think is good thing.
So sure if they don't want fix MFT, then at least buff killers that are most affected by it.
-
@Göch said:
Its their decision to do so, so they're 100% to blame. Its like someone flipping the table on a board game where he's losing, some people's ego cant handle a loss but thats still not the games fault.
I mean, if killer gets 4k with it, then it wasn't bad plan.
His result of the game improved, even if only by 1 kill.
It's better than give up as survivors. I don't mind camping or tunneling unless they go for it on 5 gens left, that's boring.
Camping in end game? Sure, it's understandable and we have to make some effort for 4 escapes.

Sure. And remove the application time as well. I am sure there will be immediately more killers that will play him. But for some reason his DC-rate will go up to the heavens. And complaints will pile up...
You can't just buff killers "so they are played more - like wesker". The reason Wesker is so good (to the point people are fed up with him) is good design. Not his strength. Wesker's design allows counterplays and is not just overpowered (he's not even the strongest killer in game). Doctor will never be that, because his power will never be so interesting. Argument of "just buff him so we don't see Wesker as often" is just stupid and is asking for the game to drop everyone, but comp SWF teams (a bit of hyperbole, but you get the idea)
Funny is I didn't even say any % how much lower his slowdown.
Yet you act like Doctor would become some broken oppressive monster...
-
Yeah, I was making whole survey just for this question and I didn't get it... unlucky
-
@Gandor said:

That would not matter if there's no downside. And good doctor can get you no matter what (even in shack) - it just takes time - hence he's not OP. If you remove his slowdown from using ability, there's nothing stopping you from spamming it and autowinning all (no predrop, because he will just shock u for no cost)
So again, I wouldn't remove it. I would reduce it.
It wouldn't make him OP, just better. Lot of survivors are sick of playing against all Wesker, so they better make some changes so more killers are fun to play as.
Lower slowdown would be good for Doctor.

So basically you can't loop, you can't use pallets, you can't do anything. Just hold W and watch as you die because there's exactly NOTHING you can do. Very healthy. Like sure - but then we need old old sprint burst - the one that had no exhaustion. If the only thing I can possibly do is to run - then allow me to at least run
There is charging and shock is not instant.
Shocking effect would be basically same and you usually get a chance to vault a window or predrop pallets.
I don't think slowdown should be completely removed, but it should be reduced.
-
Frenklin's demise is kinda donate, right?
-
@Gandor said:
And what should be the counterplay then? Because he would be able to deny everything consistently without any worries - no chance to do anything about it
Hold W? As most killers.

They're the exceptions, yeah, can throw in Blight and probably a couple others too. For most killers though, Sloppy always seems the best choice.
Unless you are going hit&run where you have chance to interrupt healing survivors, sloppy is not that good.
I have only few killers where I use sloppy. It's not bad, but also not best for most killers.
Lot of killers can get it from add-on anyway.
Your take is weird anyway. Sloppy is better than other perks with this effect. Sure, but it's not hard when those perks are mostly trash. Why not just buff those instead, so there are alternatives?
-
Yeah, it definitely doesn't need to go back. You want it back, that's different.
Try inner healing or use bond to find teammates if you are not SWF.
-
@Gandor said:

Sadly u can't endure yourself during M2 ability. I just wanted to have 5 perks during this event - getting enduring for free on my bubba. But no matter how much I tried, it just didn't work. Still other effects (and maybe even enduring on other killers) are very strong
Enduring probably depends on killer.
It can be worth using on unsafe pallets, where stun is only chance for survivor to get away.
I think it's good this effect is better for M1 killers.
-
@Gandor said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3466154#Comment_3466154
And I think even you don't understand how to best use pallet breaking feature. In fact - pallet breaking is not instant with the ability. It takes a second or so. But during that time, pallet can't be vaulted. You can trigger pallet breaking whenever you are in chase - making it a trap that guarantees a hit. Pallet breaking is very strong this event
Both sides clearly don't know how to use it.
Enduring effect is probably most niche, but breaking pallet, event pallet and window block are really good.
Exposed effect is broken.
-
If you spawned real pallet, it would be super broken.
You can get lot of value from event pallet, you simply know all killers are going to respect that pallet. Just hope they don't have enduring...
Blocking window is really strong on some tiles/maps. Garden of Joy is kinda broken with this.
I really wouldn't mind this implemented as base mechanic, but without exposed on bloodlust for sure. That's stupid.
I have seen survivors counter it. You simply stop running as soon you see killer blood lusting. It's free hit, but at least not insta down.

There is a suggestion for a rework in the post
That might work too.
Could be simply more fog (blurry) instead of full black Dredge style.

@1ettuce said:
Solo survivors are already forced to take up a perk slot to get information anywhere near that of a swfs, so I find it ridiculous that said perks can be countered by a status effect, which then does basically nothing to swfs. Pretty much the only significant ways that blindness affects swfs is with WoO, deja vu/visionary, and aura reading on the killer only to some extent. At the end of the day, the main appeal of blindness is making already uncoordinated teams even more uncoordinated, it's not healthy. A good suggestion I've seen before is making blindness limit your range of view like dredge's nightfall and funnily enough minecraft's blindness effect does. It could have a similar exception for teammates and possibly the killer as nightfall does, as not to prevent survivors from seeing each other and disproportionately hurting solos like it does now.
Blindness is kinda useless status effect anyway, except soloQ.
Wouldn't really mind if it got reworked and renamed based on new effect.
Issue is there is kinda not much else how you can negatively affect survivors (passive)
We have slower healing, slower repairing, slower movement speed, can't hear TR, exhausted.
You can make an effect in doctor/freddy style basically getting false information instead of denying information. That would work against SWF too.
-
They overall should look into gen spawns.
This shouldn't be a thing, but spawns that are basically not worth defending are also an issue. Probably worst at this is Groaning Storehouse.
-
Yeah, survivors are such a drama queens these days.

I think that BHVR should punish killers with heavy progression and bloodpoint losses if they camp/tunnel. Otherwise, they're never going to learn how to play the game properly. Until they do that, I agree with you that survivors that die on straight hooks should not lose progression.
Your issue is everything that leads to survivor's death is considered either camping or tunneling.
I loved Otz experiment where he tried to play without tunneling and survivors were still calling him tunneler.
Unless you died when there are 3 hooks total, you don't have what to complain about.
And even that doesn't have to be killer faults. If all other survivors are hiding, what is he supposed to do?
I always try to find unhooking survivor, but if they hide and I see only unhooked, it's not my problem.

Sure, some players are obnoxious and deserve the attention. But are you seeing that loadout and deciding that they deserved to get hard tunnelled for the entire game? They don't even have a toolbox. I can only assume that you find that loadout to be unfair or toxic, given the "some people deserve it" part. In which case I would disagree.
Unless they share gameplay you can't also straight blame killer for it.
Based on information we have, he died on 1 gen left. So it doesn't mean as bad decision from killer to do it. Alternative is lose the game.
We don't know builds of other survivors...

I pointed out that seeing someone who has had a lousy experience and walking in and going "But what about me, I'm the real victim, as I suffer more..." is just pathetic. What does gen rushing have to do with that?
They may have bad experience, but some people deserve it.
Some players play in a way that creates bad experience for others, then complain when it backfired. Why wouldn't we point that out?

If only you read my reply above, where I said I brought Prove Thyself for points mostly. Good luck getting a lot of points as a survivor in general. And I brought Inner Healing + Overzealous for a nice combo, but especially since I get boldness points for cleansing totems. But guess who didn't get a single chance to look for a totem this match? Yeap, me. I also wrote that I mostly run builds that don't have gen perks in them, and still get tunneled. Also, the killer started tunneling me at 4 gens left. He managed to lost me once thanks to Leon, but as you see, he didn't bother downing and hooking Leon. He instead started searching for me again. The killer can bring Pain Res and Jolt if they want to, and get a nice value from hooking multiple people. I'm fine with that. But I got relentlesly targetted and didn't get to enjoy the match at all. That's a whole different thing.
Sure, if you want to play fair and you have those perks, then Jolt and pain res can be valid.
Jolt only on M1 killers.
But base killers simply have no reason to hook multiple survivors. It's better to just slug everyone else and focus hooks on single person.
Nerfing every other strategy is not going to prevent tunneling for sure.
You are going to see it way more so get used to it.

Pops counter isn’t to not get downed, but to get downed away from gens being worked on, such that it makes for an easier safe unhook if the Killer beelines to a generator to kick it.
Though I could certainly see it getting the Tinkerer treatment while getting changed to a flat percent.
That would be so useless.
It would be straight worse pain resonance.
Pop is fine, it's already nerfed. There is no need for more.

So it's bad for survivors, so you want to remove it and make it bad for killer instead. Do I get it right?

My issue with Wesker isn't due to his design or his balance, overall he's a great killer for all the reasons you've just listed.
My issue is that it's Wesker after Wesker after Wesker and it is so deflating
So BHVR needs to do more QoL buffs to specific killers, so they are more enjoyable to play.
Wesker is strong and fun killer, there is not many of those.

Still, killers these days could at least TRY to get every player hooked once before committing to one person.
The person falling victim to a scummy killer does not enjoy the game at all. We all want to play to have fun, but in some cases that is quite impossible, especially if you get found first, and then tunneled the entire game.
I would never play in a scummy way when I am the killer, even if it cost me a hook or two. It is much more fun interacting with every aspect of the game, instead of being a tryharding meta slave. That goes for the survivor side too. It's much more fun that way.
Anyways, personally I think camping/tunneling/genrushing and such needs to be less effective for point gains and grade requirements. It is not fun to play in the sweatiest way possible
Rework BNP to deny fast early gens and create more perks with BBQ like tokens so killers have reason to focus multiple survivors.
You don't always have time to hook everyone. If you got screwed and each survivor spawned alone near gen, it's not that hard to finish 3-gens before you get hooked (depends on killer). At that point killer either need to try fast tunnel or 3-gen.

Go make your own thread lmao
Yeah, but OP is complaining about tunneling while using gen speed perks...
OP wants to finish his objective faster, so did killer.
-
Pop is not really bad for the game.
It forces killer to leave hook -> kick gen.
It's also weaker than used to be. 30% of current progress is overall way worse than 25% of maximum progress.
Almost all regression perks got nerfed and you still complain? You really like to get tunneled, don't you?
-
No, we don't need survivor character meta.
-
2 gen speed perks, 0 anti-tunnel perks.
1 gen left
Like what do you expect? Killer should just open gate for you?
When you get on 1/2 gens left, killer has two options kill someone or hold 3-gen.
Some killers like Oni, Plague etc. can try mass slugging.
3-gen is going to get nerfed, so prepare for more tunneling.
-
This is not rework. This is new killer.
-
I wasn't bothered to read all of it, but it's clearly git gud issue.

That's a very fair point, but SWFs at least still have the option to make a callout like that, which can make it way easier to know when to get off the gen relative to how it'd be as a solo player. It's much easier to say and react to "I''m gonna go down" or something like that than it is to play a guessing game and lose out on much more gen progress on average as a solo. For example, if you're on death hook you might have no issue losing a few seconds of gen progress to avoid letting the killer know your location, especially with eruption's aura reading. But in solo, you either have to be fine with giving the killer your location, or risk getting off of the gen at completely random times that can easily massively backfire if the killer straight up drops chase. It's not exactly often you'd trade gen progress for info denial, but such situations definitely do exist
Eruption got it basically as small compensation. It's not worth much, but better than nothing and definetly better (for survivors) than increasing regression.
Jolt, I like you get to see gen that was affected, but I couldn't care less if they removed screaming. You will find out anyway someone was there (gen is not regressing)
-
It's not as easy to deny eruption / jolt, compare to pain res for example.
Call outs on down you often either do it too late, or too early. If it is early you just lost progress on gens.

hex:face the darkness+monitor&abuse+infectious fright on Pig with Crate of gears+Bag of gears. The idea is to put head traps on people and make survivor scream as they search the boxes to get head-pop. If they're outside of your terror radius then hex makes them scream but if they're inside, you get to proc infectious fright perk.
That's evil. I love it...
