  • Sure. As long as I can have free DCs for Haddonfield, Hawkins, Ormond, Cold Wind Farms, Nea, Blendettes, 3 toolbox teams, a team full of DS and Adrenaline, etc...

My godly trapper build is ruin, devour, thrill of the hunt, and bbq. One trap in front of every totem, with bloody coil if you want to be extra mean. Then they will waste all their time on uncleanseable totems until i get my 3 stacks, then they die. The first time, they usually will run into the trap, then once everyone knows where it is, just put a trap nearby where they will run.

I used to play Trapper but I kept getting stomped early game because I have a bunch of useless perks for the moment.

  • 2K in high ranks = de-pip or black pip at base. The emblem system has not been adjusted to reflect this preferred baseline the devs want.

  • Also never give them chances to escape unless you're an absolute legend who consistently 4Ks. You only shoot yourself in the foot and get hate at the end of the day.

Just don't use NOED, you seem decent enough to not need it. I know it can be important for trapper sometimes though. But NOED is a toxicity magnet. I'm never toxic, but i do have a rule to never say gg to a NOED player. If they win without it, good for you, you don't need it. It doesn't matter if i escape or not, i just don't like the perk and won't gg it. But alot of people just call you a noob or will be toxic because you use it. Even if it doesn't pop.

Using a perk is not toxic. It's not like it's 4 survivors running the same perks and teabagging you because you have to fight through all of theirs. Use whatever the hell you want to make sub par killers actually dangerous.

  • I run it on Spirit because she can get hooks in a hurry and I add BBQ, Pop, and a flex perk. You get rushed at first but after hook 3 you can snowball FAST, I've downed multiple survivors trying to clean the hex on a few occasions.

  • Stuff like this happened my first week playing the game and made me 100% killer main. I'm on console and it's the first game I had to adjust my communication settings on to resist the temptation to message back. Now if survivors are toxic in game I return it for that one and the next 3 after that because you can never be "nice" as a killer.

Well from what I've heard the Devs goal is to balance solo players to the level of SWF players, I personally don't know how I feel about that, I don't. But it is very evident that they intentionally design weak Killers and balance them towards solo players and they have said once the solo is up to SWF level then the Killers can be buffed.

IDK about you but I'll believe it when I see it. Chances are all survivors regardless will get a buff and killers will be left in the dust to feed the bully simulator.

  • Survivors can die (essentially lose) and still pip. Killers can do a 3K and de-pip or 4K and get Brutal Killer. Making 2K a baseline without addressing the emblem system is setting up players for failure when they're not running top tier killers.

Camping Needs To Stop! Seriously I'm tired of playing a game and the Killer go to move is to camp the ---- outta the survivor! It's NOT needed! If you're the Killer when you put the person on the hook the damn hook turns yellow to let you know they're on the hook and you can go off to find someone else to hunt down, there's NO NEED TO CAMP ya jackholes! Just monitor the yellow hook and when the survivor is taken down THEN go after em, there's no need to be a camping little ----- it makes the game less fun when you do that, so just freakin' stop man. I've noticed lately that Hag, Doctor and Hillbilly Killers so this. One the Hag has traps that make it easier for her to come to your location if you are on the hook so you don't need to camp. The Doctor well they're just jerks they put you on the hook and then stand there like goobers shocking you "too death" while you're on the hook which is totally stupid and a waste of time and you wonder why people disconnect all the time from the game because of lame a-- ---- like that. Don't get me started on Hillbilly, I mean what is the damn point of camping when you're Billy when you're as big as a house and have a chainsaw, same with Leather he does the same thing. I think it's mostly "kids" and newcomers to the game who camp because 1.) they don't know how to play, 2.) the Killer who camps probably think it's funny to just waste everyone's time to be a camping little punks because they've seen others do it so they'll do it too and 3.) probably little kids who want to be annoying and waste the gamers time why camping because that's they're go-to move because they suck as that Killer.

Oh I know what you're thinking that campers is a way of playing the game, it might be but when you play a round and you get camped almost every game it takes the joy outta playing. I don't camp when I'm the Killer and believe me I could if I wanted to because I can't see that well, so camping would be a good way to get kills BUT I ain't gonna go do it because one it's annoying, it's not needed and I don't want to be reported for being unfair to the game which is basically what it is.

What do you guys think? I'd love to hear what y'all think on the subject matter.

You forgot reason #4: to stick it to toxic survivors, #5: to use altruism against you, #6: it's a killer's job to kill, and #7: because we can.

  • Embrace your dark side: unleash moris on the unsuspecting. Nothing like a good mori fest to establish dominance.

I see 2 toolboxes against a Trapper. How many gens did you rush? There's your answer.

  • @LunarFace said:

    if you enjoy losing, sure.

Really? Because I've won many a game due to face camping a toxic survivor. It's even better when the rest of the team suffers on the hook since they wanted to trade places sooo badly.

  • Agreed. His power can be completely negated and even faster against SWF, few maps work well with him, and Shred leaves some things desired.

  • @Kenidur said:

"...Instead of focusing on punishing killers I'd look more towards fixing the game, adding compensation for survivors who have their games ruined and adding incentives to progress through ranks so the already trivial..."

While that may be incentive to the survivors, it's not a deterrent. Sure, give the survivors additional points, or don't depip the survivor who's being face camped, but what stops the killer from doing this? Punishment could come in many forms, not just taking points or depip them (I don't like the depip though, better killer against worse players...), Or autocomplete gen for each phase the survivor goes through while being face camped, and give the hooked the points for it. You want to see a killer move, watch him leave when the gens start popping like candy because he didn't go do something else. This can be done by the game simply monitoring the distance of the killer from the hooked survivor. You've got plenty of time to leave, but if you're just standing there, (or hell, near there) and not engaged in the game, then deal with the penalty.

Someone said, the killer is there to terrorize you, how am I terrorized if I know the killer is just standing on a hill waiting for another survivor to die? I'm not. I've completed gen's close to camping killers without fear. the game is boring, the round sucks, and I'm ready to leave that garbage. But force that killer to actually hunt me down, instead of sitting on that hook, now the game is interesting.

Similar can be done in other situations as well. Got a killer that just wants to hunt down and slug? BORING. Look at me, I'm on the ground doing nothing, not gaining points, just watching as the killer goes around slugging everyone else! Want to see him start to hook people? Start popping survivors up. just downed your 4th person? the furthest from you just got stood up, and now you have to go chase him. Slugging him again? hey look, 2 just popped up. guarantee you, the killer will start hooking survivors instead of turning it into a snoozer of a round. Now, I'm not saying you can't slug when all 4 survivors are right there, but when you actually go hunt them down. (if Survivor 2, 3,and 4 are +x range away...)

And tunneling(bouncing between 2 survivors, or leaving one to go after the guy just unhooked), because you know, right after getting pulled off the hook, the thing I really want to do is get right back into another chase with you. Annoying as hell! 1st time off the hook, 10% speed boost. 2nd time off the hook? +40% speed boost. Nothing says go chase someone else like a survivor you can no longer catch. (only active while there are 3 or more players in game). Speed boost deactivated when 2(1 in game of 3) survivors get hooked.

If not these, then start building skills into survivors. Up Meg's movement by 3 to 5 %, give Bill the ability to stand up once after being slugged, Build self heal into Blendette at 15%. Then have their respective perks further modify that, so blendette with self heal perk self heals at 65%, bill with ability can stand twice, etc. Make it so there's a reason to buy and play different survivors, not just the killers.

None of this is a deterrent. It only reinforces survivors getting mori'd to not deal with all the second chance perks and gen rush, which is a primary reason to face camp. So what if gens are popping off? Chances are they already were and there's no reason to run to gens powering up in front of your face and a survivor waiting to negate your hook. When you penalize people all day, they're not going to give a #########.

  • Mori with the Demogorgon/Hag and having the rest of the team start to DC. That, and impossible skill checks Doc on The Game.

  • @AsePlayer said:

By a "nice change in pace" do you mean "circumventing the entire point of playing the game and completely killing any survivor momentum, leading to a way less enjoyable game for them"? Because that's what Moris are. And that's why Survivors DC.

The entire point of the game is different for the sides so there is no "circumventing". Unless it's to circumvent survivors trying to live, which is the purpose of a killer.

  • Not going away anytime soon judging by the new perk to reset pallets as well.

  • What kills me is if a survivor dies they still can pip but if I kill/sac for 2 or 3K I still run the risk of de-pip because they did their job too efficiently and I slow the game to balance. I'm not as stuck up on rank but if you put a system in place and say that 2K is the desired outcome for killers at base, at least adjust it so we're not ultimately penalized for doing our jobs.

  • @Kenshin said:

its sad to see i agree. i dont understand how we still dont have a killer who uses a hook to grab and pull survivors to him (like roadhog.)

    Like...Pinhead?

  • My personal favorite was when I got a message saying I was going to be reported and banned for camping. I pointed out the devs list of things that are not reportable. He pointed out it was ban worthy. I asked him in what version of the game and he cited version 1.7.

This was in June, on version 3.0.0

  • Speaking of that map, the Demogorgon is a beast on it. When you catch a survivor with Shred between the picket fences, a thing of beauty.

  • They have the rights to the character, not the right for Jamie Lee Curtis's face to be used.

  • Spoken like a true survivor main. I make purple and red ranks every rank reset so I know map pressure. Survivors can't handle it so they cry to nerf killers who can, then cry some more when a killer does his job when he catches you. Pitching a tent is a useful and fun tool.

  • I refuse to give any sympathy to survivors when gen rush exists. Not that you need any anyway seeing as how you create this situation when you always cry for nerfs on high mobility killers. The formula is very simple: cry for nerfs = get camped.

  • Garbage like this is why I never played or had a reason to play Survivor: because huge amount of them are entitled jack asses that think they're playing Bully by Daylight and should always be given a chance by killers. With the way they spaz out, you'd think they were agents of the Entity. So slug one of them, slug ALL of them. Collect that fanmail or delete it. Nothing you do will change the other side's view of you.

  • What difference does it make? I've seen plenty of constructive posts on how to fix killers but "Nerf XYZ" will always rule the day.

  • I'd laugh so hard too. Entitled Survivors deserve to get wrecked by Spirit. Hope they enjoy camping too.

  • Yeah it's cool if you don't care about rank. But even if you kill/sac 2 people you can still de-pip. In higher ranks, you'll safety pip at best using that as a template to stop "overperforming".

Since when should someone complaining make me not want to win? Why would anyone do anything at that point, let alone play a game? Everyone should just ignore the salty people and the devs should base changed on statistics and by studying game play.

Apparently killers listen to whiny entitled survivors and follow their rules to win friends instead of matches. Everyone should but we know that's not the reality with this game.

  • @EverflowingRiver said:

I don't understand what playing casual means. Shouldn't everyone play to win? Maybe I'm too competitive but I don't see the point of playing unless I'm trying hard.

Because playing to win leads to massive complaints on both sides. When you have no rewards to ranking up but more of the same gameplay and strategy issues that won't go away, then it's time to examine your game modes.

  • If you try to play "fun" as a killer on console in red ranks, then you're shooting yourself in the foot when you get demolished by try hard SWFs. Survivors think it's all fun and games gen rushing until they force the killer to use "unfun" tactics to slow the game down just a little bit.

  • I hope it's an Oni that will get the "rework" treatment instead of Rin.

  • If 2K is the target, how about buff the underperforming killers that struggle to make that? Trapper doesn't even exist to me because he's so weak to consider yet I have a bunch of cosmetics for a character that will never see play.

  • Camping is a strategy you can't ban just like gen rush. It's one of the best ways to slow the game down JUST A LIL' BIT lmao. I'll camp the hell out of someone just to see if the flow of the game disrupted when the rush is on. You'll be amazed how often it disrupts the other team with great effectiveness.

  • It's just the same on the console. I'm in red ranks primarily because the higher you go in purple ranks, the less likely you can play "fun" anything. When Survivors know you're not playing top tier, they punish you for it by doing exactly what you described. Not all the time but enough to where you can have multiple matches of the same issue, forcing your hand to bring out the big guns and re-establish dominance. Unfortunately, the next group feels your wrath that could be the complete opposite of what you just dealt with.

  • I'll say it before and I'll say it again: buff UNDER performing killers so there's actual variety in choices on viable killers. This shouldn't be a hard task to do.

  • @Leobolics said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/102184/dbd-forcing-killers-to-camp

If you camp as killer don't start crying that you always get a Gen rush

Circular logic. Camping is also the answer to gen rush. Don't listen to survivors and pitch that tent when you need to. It's not like survivors say to each other "OMG we're really going through these gens, let's give the killer a chance to play his part."

  • @VincentRedfield said:

Killer mains already dug their own grave. "Nerf pallets, windows, medkits, toolkits, exhaustion... Wait why are there not enough survivor players?"

    Completely fine with this.

  • Early hex cleanse = DC to find a better RNG placement.

  • If you run it on Spirit, you get a lot more mileage out of it.

  • I'm a killer main and I'm not triggered in the least. We all know that you want her nerfed into the ground so she can be more "fun" to play against. To the devs it's: Survivors complain about no counterplay to a killer = nerf to be completely countered. Boom, "fun". Outside of Freddy, re-works never go as intended.

  • @Swiftblade131 said:

I have not wanted to really play since Legion's chapter.

Nothing is compelling me to play the game at all let alone killer. Bloodweb grind was finally lessened sort of, that's great. But many of us had already had just about everything. And it was not rewarding in the slightest.

And Devotion levels still get you nothing aside from an extra 200 shards. Oh boy sign me up for grinding!

I just can't find a reason to play. When I do play, I just kind of laze around and don't try. The fun and competitive spirit I did have for the game has burnt out a while ago. And this "casual with rank" thing they are going for, is bad for the game and is mixing pools.

I would suggest, like every other game on the planet, do have a ranked with solos only, and a casual where you can have any number of SWF like normal. But in before, "iT wOuLd SpLiT tHe PlAyEr BaSe". It's a load of crap. But if no one is willing to change anything about the game. Then the end result won't change. The game just isn't rewarding in anyway. Winning doesn't feel like winning.

    End of story.

All of this. I started this game in January and I'm just now almost perked up with all the killers I play due to the sheer grind. Now I'm ready to have fun but lo and behold, I'm in red ranks which is never where I wanted to be because of all the try hards that force you to run top tier killers to be threatening.

Let me guess, you are proxy camping the hooks and going after the person who was just unhooked? I might be wrong, but that was the reason I got a lot of hate when I started playing the game and was still trying to figure out how to play.

Survivors will call camping even before you spawn in the map.

  • If you do it on the fly while in a match, you'll still get messages for a little bit. I leave my settings to friends only by default until I get ready to play another game. Adjust the setting before loading DBD. Sad but that's the state of the salt mines these days.
