  • I recommend that you contact support.

In the meantime, you can verify your game files or reinstall the game.

  • Neat idea but it is very easy to overdo it.

An example would be Freddy Krueger. If they added him as a purchasable skin his lines were great puns... up to a point. He has tons of one-liners in his movies.

  • "As a killer, MMR works great; if I get stomped a bunch, and my MMR drops, then the game gets easier because I get lower MMR survivors, and I can bring my MMR back up again. But as a survivor, my MMR depends on how good my team is, and the more it drops, the worse my team is."

Don't you get hatch escapes? Is it considered a win or a draw if you escape via the hatch?

Try different parts of the day. Even with low MMR late in the evening I find myself in a lobby with pres 100 players and they do play better than the average. And better I do not mean faster genspeeds but smart way of approaching a hook to save or long loops / chases with the killer.

  • I don't think so. Those expert at DH were experienced players anyway. These use WoO now or something else to try to extend a chase. Late in the evenings matches are just as tough for me as a killer. I do have shorter chases sometimes and I feel great being able to freely use my lunge attacks.

Initially, after the nerf, I had easy matches. Then the community noted the nerf and reacted... in all sorts of ways.

  • I hear ya, OP, as I'm in the same shoes. I'm checking the new chapter then I'll take some time off, too. I need a break and, most of all, I need to come back in a more chilled, not-playing-that-hard-to-win way. Until then enjoy your break and hope to see an improved game a couple of chapters later.

  • I started playing the game 2 years ago so my view is slightly different from some of you veterans.

What I see is the following:

    1) SoloQ has great matches but a lot of camping and tunnelling killers. I'm fine with being sacrificed as long as the matches are long and exciting. Face camping can completely ruin the experience that is very different from when I started.

    2) Playing as a killer is tough. And survivors play way too fast and hard. Sometimes I just want to have fun and enjoy some chases but survivors either do the gens very fast or they start bullying / teasing. Matches alternate between SWF and a group of people with at least 1 if not 2 rookies. The other day I used Bubba and did two hooks in the basement - I immediately left and allowed those downstairs to be saved but my next victim DC-ed immediately. I feel like matches alternate between these two extremes - long and challenging matches are a rarity. It is either very easy due to DC / sacrifice on hook or very difficult.

    3) Toxicity. It is at an all times height. Close the chat? No, I'm interested in saying GG in case there was a good match even if my team of survivors is done. People blame each other for everything: if you win as a killer you are "noob" if you made one wrong skill check during the match you are "noob". Do we have statistical data on the average age of players? I wonder.

  • He would became very unpopular. I am mostly captured at vaults meaning Wes hits me and picks me up. With the throw people would use dash for this purpose less frequently.

I try to but playing killer isn't good and survivor is more roll of some bad weighted dice mostly getting a SWF that end up screwing me over because they get killed or DC at the very start.

Do you have some grey add-ons you don't mind to lose? I did several matches today with those, in fact, I favoured some that gave me more BP as per their description. I got 1-2Ks while trying to chill and enjoy the matches and in the endgame chat I decided to praise everybody.

I was changing between killers and decided to follow the same pattern and because of this the upcoming 2-3 matches I was able to win due to the lowered MMR.

What region / timezone are you in? I'm Europe GMT+1.

  • While Red Forest looks pretty great graphically it remains a big map. I find it difficult with my killers to win. I'm not sure it was a failure if the rework was a visual overhaul but I expected a bit more.

Oh yeah totally forgot about that map lol. Wish it returned.

SoloQ literally only exists to replace balancing. As long as SoloQ is there, M1 killers will have an acceptable killrate.

Please stop pretending the developers even remotely care about the game.

    Basekit Kindred? Nope!

Letting us see what perks the other survivors are bringing? Nope!

Functional matchmaking where the 1k winstreak Blight goes against sweaty 4 men with BNPS instead of random SoloQs? HAHA.

"Letting us see what perks the other survivors are bringing? Nope!"

This is a feature in the Mobile version, correct?

Yes, I know that is developed by a different company but I wonder why they do not exchange ideas.

  • Nice to see some positivity! Yesterday I lost a match completely as Wesker and one survivor was very toxic in the endgame chat. 2 others came to my rescue calling him toxic and complimenting the way I played.

I get it, and I'm not faulting the player or complaining that he was doing something unfair.

My issue is that of the five or so games I played today, four of them included camping. I should also note I 3/4 escaped every single game that included camping. But even so.

    Killers camped during EGC (fine.)

Killers camped during 5 gens (questionable.)

Killers camped during 1 gen left (fine.)

As you can see, camping is so frequent that its to be expected every game. What is going to happen when its nerfed to the point of not being a viable strategy? I'm actually worried. Even players who aren't scummy camp, even good players camp, its no longer a noob strategy. So the amount of people being affected by any nerfs to camping will be quite high.

Secondary objectives won't fix it, because it'll eventually reach that point again. But something is sorely needed, I don't envy the devs having the burden of unraveling this knot. I want to say that the concept of hooks is probably outdated, but idk.

I hear you but it won't change much. Face camping will be replaced by proxy camping and tunnelling will be more frequent.

  • Hm make a golden version for the basic outfit then. Nothing too fancy for the clothing but something that stands out a bit. It could be a high prestige reward. So this would also be available after the bloody versions (just much later).

  • For Myers: The Tall Man and Frankenstein monster

For Hag: Gill-man, Crawler (from Descent)

    For Clown: Pennywise (both iterations)

    For Freddy: Babadook or Pazuzu

    For Demogorgon: Clover from Cloverfield

    For Trapper: The Toxic Avenger

For the upcoming Singularity: The Iron Man (no, not that one... from Tetsuo, a Japanese horror movie)

Dead Hard had its fair amount of time on the throne of being the best exhaustion perk in my opinion, but now ever since its nerf there's been a huge variety of more exhaustion perks being used, here is my ranking for them now that Dead Hard has been nerfed.

    1 - Sprint Burst

    2 - Adrenaline

    3 - Lithe

    4 - Balanced Landing

    5 - Overcome

    6 - Backround Player

    7 - Dead Hard

    8 - Smash Hit

    9 - Head On

    What are your rankings?

I mostly agree with the list - I would put Adrenaline as the 1st. Nothing is more annoying when an injured survivor gets healed up and also sprints away at the end. Interesting thing about SB: a lot of survivors look back for too long. They want to use it in the very last sec expecting you to use your basic attack. Because of this I expect it to occur and I continue with the chase without an unnecessary basic attack. Why? As focusing too much on looking back they may not be aware of their immediate surrounding. You can only sprint for so long if you have no idea where you are going (i.e. will there be pallets / good vaults?).

As already said, when you play a Killer for the first time you will not start at the lowest MMR. You will start at the average of all your other Killers and after a few games the MMR will be calculated somewhat correctly. (At least this is how it is supposed to work)

If you would start at lowest MMR with a new Killer, two things would happen:

    • You would only get Baby Survivors and those will be destroyed. If your Killer is a regular 4.6-Killer you will not even need your power to destroy the Survivor Teams you will face. That you play a Killer for the first time does not mean that you forgot how the game works.
    • Queue times would be a mess when a new Killer is released. Since then every player of this Killer would be at the same (lowest) MMR. So imagine Thousands of Killer players queueing up at the same time with lowest MMR. You will probably have to wait for at least 10 minutes for each game, possibly even way more.

It makes totally sense that you dont start at lowest MMR with a new Killer.

Plus, a new killer may have a new power but the core DbD mechanics you already know when you pick a new character. Map knowledge can already help tremendously.

still waiting for a thumbs down emote when a teammate fails a skill check on a Gen

Or a laughter when you stun the killer with a pallet? Emote will only increase toxicity.

  • "Stop getting upset at tunneling when gens pop so fast and there's no way to pressure them early game. There's a reason Killers feel the need to tunnel and camp."

Funny thing is sometimes gens are popping so fast that I'm genuinely surprised as I commit to chases that are actually very short. Take Clown for example. Couple of hits with the bottle and the survivor is already down.

So, I feel like doing well / making progress without losing precious time / failing chases etc. and gens are still ready. This makes me angrier and I try to be even faster. So, when I hear someone get unhooked I immediately head there as there is a VERY high chance the unhooked individual is being healed.

What happens? One runs to the left and the other to the right. If it's 2 Megs I don't even remember which one I hooked before. I'm not looking for an excuse but often I have no idea that I'm tunneling because "I'm in the game".

  • Overall I find its visuals appealing especially the sky. This map looks great.

  • I love taking down Fengs especially if they wear the bunny cosmetic.

Steves or Nancys tend to troll. If I see them together there's a chance for it to be SWF. They are my least favourite / most despised.

By contrary to the purpose, I mean that it ends up being more beneficial to me to not play the role with the bonus, because I'm more likely to win if I don't. But this means I'm not filling the queue that's more in need, and I'm missing out on a BP bonus.

I am going to check this in practice tonight.

  • @Seraphor said:

Not entirely sure about time of day, but role bonus definitely has negative correlation with my win rate. By which I mean, Killer bonus = more escapes as survivor, Survivor bonus = more kills as killer.

This is obviously completely contrary to the purpose of those bonuses, but it implies the weaker players are following the BP.

Or just a greater number of people play (including those you label weaker). If the number is greater then the bonus serves its purpose...

  • Emotes as in dances like in Fortnite? Clothing is fine as cosmetics - we do not need an emote section of the store, too.

  • Very interesting build! I think I'll borrow it and I'll let you know of the (endgame chat) results. 🤗

On a more serious note you did well and this was a compliment but with the use of various other synonymes.

TBH her build is completely generic - level 39 is getting close to the 50-100 range where people are entitled to their opinion which must be considered universal truth for the community.

  • As a survivor I have matches with better skilled mates in the evening. Tunnel, camp and NOED are more common on the killers' side.

As a killer matches are more difficult late in the evening due to SWF groups appearing.

They probably did that on purpose. If a SM game drags for too long I stop caring about Exposed because I'm bored and don't care if I die. No point in healing if you plan to let yourself get Exposed.

No, this happened a couple of minutes in with a Merchant actively chasing everybody. As mentioned I see a changed playstyle more and more which begs the question what the next reason for hatred will be for her if the "3-gen" isn't viable anymore.

  • @ohheyitsbobcat said:

From what I understand they're only allowed so much bandwidth per update (they've brought that up multiple times) and at least on console they also have to pay to update the game; unless that's changed sometime in the past which someone please feel free to correct me on.

That means that say they have 100 things they want to change, only 10 will fit in the update so they have to pick and choose what's important. That number also gets lower with bug fixes and stuff like that.

If I had to guess, I bet they have things ready to ship but have to wait until they can find a patch to put it in.

I'd also wager the higher ups will only allow so many patches to go out in a certain timeframe to keep costs low but that's speculation.

Its what I've been able to gather anyway with how they've talked about it in the past.

    Interesting. Thanks for explaining.

There must also be a tremendous amount of reporting in the background.

For instance, because of the killing / winning rate they stated why they don't want to focus on adjusting various killers such as Trapper. What some of us perceive important can be very different for them.

  • But you got them before, right? So you enjoyed them longer than the newcomers.

  • Just had a match where a Mikaela was unhooking a Jill but instead of doing healing both ran to the shack to complete a gen. It was half complete and instead of deactivating the drone they completed the gen but both got exposed / downed eventually.

I am starting to see more and more mistakes on survivor side and less 3-gen tactic on SM's side. Instead, they engage in a chase around jungle gyms with drones used which is a great tactic.

Isn't anybody else seeing a change of pattern here?

You can tell they're hacking in various way with experience. Speed hack is obvious, you notice it instantly if you played a bit of killer or survivor, since you know how fast are survivors and how fast the killer can catch up in chase.

Subtle cheaters who boost for example gen speed, heal speed and so on are harder to notice, this needs a lot of experience on both sides.

"various way with experience" in 2K I saw a cheater once who admitted to cheating. And that's about it.

  • @Skill_issue said:

if you get tunneled then make it not worth the killers time to chase you...simple as that.

first of all are you running windows of opportunity/off the record/an exhaustion perk or unbreakable/decisive strike? good

can you hold w and run to an undesirable structure for the killer to run after you? (killer shack/building/jungle gym) good and if you cant then predrop the pallet and run to the next structure when the killer is breaking the pallet

very easy to eat up the killers time without needing any skill to loop...if you can loop it is even easier and you can mind game the pallet...windows helps with that.

are you being tunneled off the hook? use your base kit borrowed to make distance to a safe loop like described...if you are downed then decisive strike on the pick up and run to a safe loop.

if you are not using these steps and using the above perks then take responsibility on yourself for hurting your teammates...works on all killers in the game for the most part except for nurse and maybe blight

this isnt even counting bodyblocking and sabotages and blinding saves

what are the communities thoughts? do you run the above perks? do you get annoyed at teammates who cant seem to run and at least make distance if nothing else?

Where is the fun in using the same perks all the time? I'm getting tired of WoO and pretty much everything else you mentioned. And, to be honest, I love it when seeing these perks on survivors as a killer as I rarely tunnel / camp and I notice half the build was completely useless.

"Can you hold W?" Even new survivors can. Many of you have no idea how skill is built in this game. It's not about holding W it's about map knowledge. Mindgame is non-existent with killer such as Doc who renders your vaulting useless.

  • Thanks a lot as always.

  • "It's the weakest point in the game right now and at this point they could replace the bonus BP playing as survivor with Auric or IS per game and I'd still not touch it anymore."

You literally have no pressure in a SoloQ game. You have 3 other players to help in case you mess up. The majority of the challenges can easily be done. You get camped at least your team mates can escape. And honestly, trying to loop / escape without WoO or DH or other "meta" perks is the best experience one get can in this game.

Playing killer is a sweatfest. If you don't tunnel or camp you will be accused of doing so. My matches range from 3-4K to 1-2Ks. It is a horrible experience with survivors doing the same loops and barely engage. Gameplay is as simple as it can get and the "mindgame" the "experts" of this game claim is mostly non-existent as the terror radius itself can make you bad decisions and move in the wrong direction to be captured. Otherwise there is absolutely no point in committing to long chases.

Still, because of the changes done to DH the killer experience is much, much better.

  • Oh, is it a thing now? I can get cuss words for using Distortion?

Interesting... it helps tremendously near gens when killers use "Nowhere To Hide". Which is something I do and I always catch half the team as a killer. Only the other half is smart enough to use Jeff's perk.

  • Never really saw a hacker.

How can you tell it's speed hacking?

  • @Gandor said:

I don't like this proposition. Killing obsession just like that is insane and helps for quick 3v1.

Also. I will repeat myself. Meyers can't get any buff so long as tombstones exists (even though he should get some buffs if those addons get nerfed)

I agree with this. First his add-ons must be locked at.

  • I believe she is mainly hated for her mechanics. It doesn't matter if it's 3 gen or 2 gen or 1 gen if she has a drone that locks on survivors. The 3 gen I wouldn't consider toxic... I only managed to last long on Haddonfield with my SM by following this tactic. I had enough (unlike the survivors who tend to complain) and did a chase which managed to get me my 2nd kill during the match.

I lot of people are experimenting with her haste boosts and try to go "out" as much as possible. In my opinion, the community gave up on her way too soon. Her human-like looks didn't help but accelerated this.

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

how is the knight map as killer I actually haven’t played it since I took a massive break

It's pretty big and its colours can bother you. Hiding and visibility are both great for survivors - difficult for killers with stealth ability.

edit: from a design perspective the level looks great (cupboards have a medieval-ish design)

  • Tier 1 is needed otherwise he would get to Tier 3 way too fast. Also, do note that Tier 1 can be pretty dangerous indoors. The add-on focusing on this tier is my favourite.

People usually have an issue with Tier 3. Are your proposing an idea as to how to change that?

Having a low FoV can increase the effects of motion sickness. As a killer DBD has an exceptionally tiny FoV of 87 degress. For context a real humans FoV is a bit complicated, but detecting movement can be as high as 270 if you account for the fact that your eyes can move. But on focusing finer details it gets as high as 150, but obviously this varies from person to person.

Most FPS games typically have FoV sliders, but usually its around 100 depending on the console/PC. This is why playing with shadowborn feels so good, because it increases that FoV by 15, putting it at 102, which makes it more like a standard FPS. Long time quake players will often put their FoV much higher though around 110-120 or even 130 depending on their game plan.

Personally speaking, i'm a long time quake player so i was used to having my fov be w/e i want (technically you could set your fov to be 360 in quake, but it'll probably make you sick before its useful). Anything less than 100 gives me eye strain after a while, and once it hits the 80 mark i start to get motion sickness, which is why longer period of time on DbD can give me quite a bit of trouble. This is why having an FoV slider is so important because different people will have different FoVs that they want to play at that is more comfortable for them. Right now DBD basically has a binary, 87 or 102. Although monitor and abuse is a bit different as well its not static and changes, which leads to its own problems i'd imagine.

Thank you for the explanation. I always thought default FoV was 90.

  • Very uplifting post, thank you!

We have a service in our city which means things you don't need can be put out and the company responsible for taking away the trash also picks it up. Only for one day.

It's nice to clean the attic or basement sometimes for this purpose - pieces of furniture you don't need but their materials can be used.

OR you wait until someone picks it up. What somebody's junk is another man's treasure as they say.

  • Is this because of M&A?

I tried that perk only once and decided never to assign it again.

  • Looking forward to it.

  • This was a great read! Especially for me who began playing this game only 2 years ago.

I picked up Charlotte only because I had some shards left. I even hate the menu theme she has.

Also thanks for clarifying the hostage thingy - I was wondering as a survivor what if I didn't complete the action to free myself but I always forgot to ask / search for the answer as Twins is just a rarity.

  • I wish the related challenges got removed. I need a key escape twice which blocks two survivor-related challenges I'd love to complete. But the chance for the hatch scenario I need (wait for it to be closed then open with a key) is low and I don't have that many spare keys to try it. I'd rather be useful to the team by taking other items with me.

  • I rarely see Trickster, Sadako, Hag, Spirit and Dredge.

  • Very generous of you. Sometimes I'm even more generous by letting others leave, too. 😌
