Solo is the pure DBD experience. Unpredictable, frustrating, and, triumphant.
-
Those of us that have played since 2016 remember what it was like and understand the game has become easier for the killer role in many ways. There are still improvements to make for sure but it is better than before.
I would recommend frequent breaks between matches and deep breaths before each match. The focus required while playing killer is draining unless you are farming and can affect your mental health.
Regarding killer adepts. Every time a new killer comes out I only play with their perks until I get adept. Eventually, the right map and survivors will come your way. Harder yes but much more satisfying when it happens. Twins were by far the hardest adept for me.
-
I run WGLF for points, Botany to heal myself and others faster, Leader to help the team heal me faster, open gates faster, unhook me faster, do totems faster, open chests faster, and finally Kindred to help them save me and help me save others.

i dont play for points i play to win the game. i dont care about points, also i have almsot all characters to p3 so points means nothing to me, also you wont pull a no play in high mmr, you are just doomed.
You can walk up to the killer and end the match if you are done.

???????? makes 0 sense why should i play an unwinnable boring match and waste my time?
Earning bp is not a waste of your time unless you already have everything unlocked.
If you do not try you will never experience the joy of long shot escapes or pulling off amazing plays.
-
I would say use the opportunity to earn as much bp as you can. Even if a match is going south you can do gens, save people from the hook, heal them, or take aggro.
-
It would be hilarious if Victor could drag survivors back to Charlotte.

How is Nurses these days with the prevalence of CoH+SS? lots of people be healing in Boon ranges these days, and the cool kids run Shadowstep.
I personally am still getting value. It works better with sloppy as it gives you more time.
Shadowstep does nullify it but I put out totems when I hear them.
-
The addons that speed up victor emerging from charlotte and wakes her up faster should be the default.
-
I highly recommend nurses calling. I get double downs through walls all the time.
-
WGLF, Botany, Leader, Kindred

its lag switching
I've seen some one do this recently and they played exactly as the other person describes it. Their ping was fine (~100ms) until you got in chase and all of a sudden they would just disappear right in front of you. It literally turned into a reverse Spirit scenario, where I could tell she was "phasing" as she would be running without leaving scratch marks, this indicated she just started walking off and her hitbox would still be at the location she started the switch as I would collide with it. Just needed to find that and wait a little bit. Since she would always walk she was never far. Caught on to this pretty quick, no haddonfield or cheats is gonna save her dumbass
I have experienced this as well. Makes you question your sanity
-
Strange I never get any hate for my Starstruck build even though I get it on the very first carry and subsequent ones. I guess it is because victory gets snatched from defeat in some cases but Noed gets defeated so often and survivors have so many tools to find and alter totems now. I rarely see killers get Noed value past one down.
-
I play for BP and for the chases. Kills are not my primary goal. That just happens naturally if I made good choices or if survivors made a mistake. It usually works out and it is a less stressful way to enjoy the killer role.
-
I take what comes and do not run gen slowdown perks. Matches are faster and it increases my challenge.
-
I find perk synergies that are fun, focus on earning bp, learn new ways to navigate maps during chases and try to predict others' intentions, and conceal my own.
-
It would be interesting if they just made a huge pass granting some perks as a base kit. Then we would finally see variety in perks on top. Imagine a world with BBQ, WGLF, DS, Brutal strength, Borrowed time, Bamboozle, Unbreakable, Enduring, Kindred all base haha
-
It is nice being able to just pick up anywhere and not think about it every now and then.

Garish Make-Up Kit is a pretty incredible add-on, combine it with Cigar Box and it's absolutely on par with the Ether + Bleach combo. I find people still way underestimate how good the Antidote is, the speed boost makes hits possible on many tiles that simply aren't without it, and it particularly helps on pallet play once the pallet is dropped, something Clown in the past struggled with.
The advantage the Antidote has over the Tonic is that the survivor cannot really play around it since you do not have to try and get the survivor to run into it, you just have to place it such that it is opportune for yourself. Another advantage is that the invigorated effect on yourself regularly lasts longer than the intoxicated effect on the survivor - intoxication only lingers for 2 seconds, invigoration for 5. This often more than makes up for the slightly lower catch-up speed boost that invigoration grants as compared to intoxication. And not only that, but while intoxicated survivors have a fairly easy time judging where they can make it at their reduced movement speed, it is much harder for them to judge when your increased movement speed allows you to catch up. Hell, sometimes they don't even know that you're zooming. And the lack of experience many survivors still have going up against Antidote enjoyers also benefits you, especially once increased invigoration duration add-ons come into play.
Of course, the ultimate Clown combines purple and yellow for maximum effect, but if you are one of the people still skeptical about the value of yellow and find it more comfortable mostly sticking to purple, try sticking mostly to yellow for a few rounds instead, I bet you'll be surprised.
I play a lot of clown and rarely use antidote except when I mistakenly press the switch bottle toggle haha. I do very well with him but I have been playing him since release. I will take your advice and try antidote out more. Speeding around does sound appealing. I just have to figure out the bottle placement so I do not lose momentum.

This guy gets it. 3 gens pop during first chase? Cool. Don’t expect me to engage with 1 gen left and knowing full well you have a team stacked with second chance perks and I can’t do anything about it. If it’s not a competitive match, there’s no need to sweat. Let them do the gens and go back to the queue. 0k is still a win because it will eventually lead you back to a more fun level with good back and forth between both sides.
I am of the school of never giving up even when I have a bad start. If you do not try you will never get to experience unexpected victories or comebacks. If you are going to spend your limited time on this earth in a DBD match at least try to earn some blood points. You might even learn something new. I am still learning after 2300 hours. That is what makes this game great sometimes.

Piggy is best relax and meme killer.
I only use her for daily challenges and do not enjoy her gameplay but more power to you.
-
For some reason, Clown is my "relax and turn my brain off" killer, but Hag and Doc are the BP leaders.

I'd say the grind is one of the things that make a lot of new players give up
They are better off. This game is mental.
-
I always use BBQ and WGLF and I never prestige. It makes it manageable with avg 35k survivor games and 50-80k killer games. It is a tall order for new players but that is to be expected with a game this old. The grind is what keeps people playing. If you see people who already have everything they are usually streamers and get bored because of it. I enjoy having something to work towards.
-
Sabo has become more popular so running iron grasp, agitation, and starstruck is working well
-
It is a mind game. If you dc your mind broke and all the bp you earned is lost. You need to be stoic as a killer or just take a break.
-
I agree it is lazy. Camping is the first thing new killers do and is effective at killing but not in blood points. I would much rather give it my all chasing them all in turn, get brutal killer with 28-32k BP with BBQ on top and fast forward the blood web grind for my trouble.
I still 4k plenty but it is not my measure of victory.
I do understand that others do not care about BP and only consider the sound of the sacrifice the victory. It is a sweet sound.
-
I have long advocated that killers should earn bonus bp for a much harder match and that those bonus points will also tell the killer he faced a team. That way killers will stop blaming really good solo teams for SWF with comms.
-
Over time you will recognize the signs of a bully squad and be able to read the situation. If someone is obviously trying to get you to chase them, ignore them as that means they are not doing objectives. This game has been out for a long time and there are people who understand it very well and have played more hours than most people work at their jobs. Someone who has played DBD that much is likely mentally damaged and depressed. Treat them with pity.
Take a deep breath and focus on your objectives. Take frequent breaks and try to learn something from each match.
-
It seems like a lazy way to play killer. I remember facing a guy who would randomly insidious at gens that had progressed and that was terrifying. That perk seems only useful for hook camping.
-
I can play about 3 matches a day before being burnt out. Even if I win I am exhausted.

Pretty good but i think Claurophobia would be better with the other two rather than Monitor and Abuse.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2696805#Comment_2696805
Yeah thats what i was thinking! How often do you run this, im assuming every on once in a while as you dont want to run these 3 perks often lol
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2696833#Comment_2696833
What does Overcome do again? In any case i would run Dead Hard or Lithe instead of Overcome but that's me. Imo i dont think Boil Over is good enough to be semi consistent without a Sabo build. . Breakdown/Flip Flop/Boilover is actually legit though if you know what your doing. Also you need a good medkit (with fast heals) with Lucky Break.

Like the heal (3 perk) build.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2696907#Comment_2696907
3 perks not 4 please!
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2697201#Comment_2697201
Basement!
Monitor is what makes the build for killers with a smaller terror radius. You can see them healing before they hear you. Works best on Hag.
-
Nurses, Sloppy, Monitor and abuse
-
For now, I will just use this killer for daily or rift challenges. I have more fun playing Myers or Clown.
-
He returns to you fairly quickly and there are addons you can use so he recovers faster.
-
I place traps randomly in dead zones and somehow it works. I have been playing her since release and my favorite version of her is nurses calling, monitor and abuse, sloppy butcher, and BBQ. I can see healing before they can hear me and for some reason, people do not realize how close I am. It can be tough sometimes but she is a blood point machine.
-
Save DBD by playing killer...if you dare

Is that supposed to impress me? Get over it. Don't sit here and tell me getting rolled by an unbalanced game is "fun", don't you try to sit there and LIE to me that being tbagged by 4 SWF, Medkits, 16 meta perks, thousands of hours and broken maps is supposed to be "fun".
Don't sit here and think I'd be so stupid as to believe an event that gives Survivors a free health state and Killers JACK ######### is supposed to be "fun".
I am trying to express to you that I know what it means to fight them and how overwhelming it can be. I have endured it since 2016 and have seen the evolution of this game. We have it easier than before in many ways and the game is still evolving. Never give up never surrender but in the end, try to have fun.

You are not playing the same game as others than. "Horror and humiliation" Lol for new players maybe, get to higher MMR and you get SWF with 16 meta perks, boosted medkits/brand new parts and numerous map offerings for a plethora of God awful maps for Killer.
You're either ignorant or in denial.
I have all killers most perks so I can afford to not sweat giving people a bit of a break now and then. This game only has power over your actions if you let it.
-
I have been playing Myers and letting survivors get in the snowmen before unleashing hell. We killers usually subject them to such horror and humiliation I feel the holiday spirit and want to make people feel good. So far it has been fun and I am earning plenty of BP and event items.

you won't get placed in the correct bracket because the system does not work, tried loosing loads of time and nothing changed
It can only match you with who is currently playing.
-
It is a mind game. You have options depending on the killer you run. For example, you could spam killer powers for the points, search out doors and pallets to break, totems to snuff and you can practice your power. Or you can do the dance at the gate to speed up their exit. Sometimes they get too cocky and things get spicy. It is pointless to try and change their behavior as annoying you is the point.
-
I don't run gen slowdown perks.
-
Without the grind, there is no reason to play this game.
-
I like them in my inventory and will never burn them but did not hesitate to move on the bloodweb to add new perks on him.
-
I normally enjoy killer but I have been playing Legion today because mine has a ton of survivor puddings and I am not having a good time even if I 4k. It might just be one of those days. I also do not run any gen slowdown to challenge myself so it only takes a few mistakes to lose the match. I think I need a break tonight and will relax with some Chorus.
-
I try to ignore them once I realize they are cheating and kill the rest of the team if possible. So far it has worked and nobody has taken my game hostage. It sucks but I am sure the devs understand the impact it has on the game and are working to address it. This is in their best interest.
-
I relax by playing starstruck clown.
-
Distressing makes chases harder FYI
-
Imagine any of the killer cast giving up like this. The entity would banish them. Be strong. Fight until the end no matter the pain. But seriously you are killing plenty, just not every match. If you are losing as much as you say eventually the game will place you in the correct bracket assuming people of your skill level are currently playing.
