  • I would not mind only seeing someone's devotion. Time served haha

  • This game is so old that you are not going to be able to avoid playing against experienced opponents whether they play together or not. It is an ancient problem and all you can do is try your best and earn as much bp as you can.

  • I am on my 4th break since 2016 and I am sitting at 2300 hours. Stretch res, boons, and cheaters were my motivation for stopping this time. I will likely return eventually since I invested so much cash, but I find myself choosing to do other things when I have the opportunity to play. The game is designed to frustrate and there are enough other frustrating things going on right now. I need joy in my life.

  • I got my shards. Thank you.

  • I have had it be the first perk and also the last one after 6 pages of perks lol

  • Still no shards as well..

  • On my 4th break since 2016. Reading books and playing Escape from Tarkov while sipping whiskey. I will return but it will a while.

  • Use an overlay to hide your perks if that is important to you.

  • I have not received my shards and I had all the masks.

  • Escape from Tarkov has an offline mode that you can use to learn the maps, your controls, etc. A practice mode would be very nice when learning a new killer's power. That being said I rather earn bp while learning, but I support this.

  • Best to use up all resources near the totem and keep putting it out. Eventually, they will make a mistake.

  • Human behavior is a strange thing. I never understood the idea of "winning" with a cheat.

Maybe one day a good popular game will be free of this nonsense if a genius figures out how to make games unhackable.

  • It says a lot that Escape from Tarkov is less stressful for me than playing more than a few killer matches. I will wait and see what happens but for now, I am also taking a break.

  • Altruism is one of the pressure points of the solo queue and why SWF is so popular. Having someone to count on is comforting. Kindred is so important in solo and why fearmonger is so strong sometimes. Solo queue is DBD hard mode. I have encountered heroes and villains in the fog and not knowing who is around that campfire makes things interesting.

  • In my mind's eye, I can still see the survivors who got away. Tea bagging me and clicking at me while stylishly sauntering backward.

I want to possess them. Dominate them. I need them. Without them I am nothing. - Killer thoughts

  • If this is important to you and you are not using BBQ you can just pay attention to the HUD when you hook someone.

It protects survivors and challenges the killer but I can clearly see that it will be abused to focus individuals more than used as a tool to avoid them. Human nature is what it is.

  • If you use his perk "no way out" you can hover in the middle and wait for the gates to make a noise that tells you they touched the switch.

They can still get lucky and find a key in a chest but most times you will find them.

  • All I care about are my BBQ stacks and that info is already displayed. Everything after that is gravy.

Look at the hud when you hook to see which person it was.

Right because playing the game as bubba since most other killers I have don't have bbq atm doesn't mean it's unbalanced as ######### and seeing that people would rather act like toddlers and try to get their ego raised rather than just going " hey we won and the killer's not chasing us lets leave" isn't an issue with the game no it's the killer's fault.

Also yes you can get points for other stuff but none of that matters if it goes so quick you don't get much in those categories and I don't care about losing in other games but this games cycle of bullshit makes it much much worse between the rng with the blood web, survivor behaviors and such does make it a problem.

Also even getting brutal killer status does not mean much since the average I get is 15k when I get that. However, right now it seems even that isn't much due to add-on and perk prices.

I personally remember a recent 4 man escape against me. I got Brutal killer with 27k and more with the BBQ stacks. They were very good but I did not make it easy for them. If you realize that your "loss" is obviously affected by map rng, survivor rng, your mistakes rng, their mistakes rng, etc then take it to the next level and learn to brush it off as this game can affect your health if you take it too seriously.

Push them out or do busy tasks cleaning up pallets and doors, but stay until the end so you have something to show for your time spent.

You have a time limit on this earth. Spend time doing things that bring you happiness.

Good sediment however you are missing some major issues

1.I never said I don't try and like I said this is for games you can't win and are at the last big of egc I know stuff can happen until then which is fine but not at this point

2 . Having bbq is a good idea to help with points however there are two problems with it first it requires hooks some games you can't get anyone and second the game's rng makes it hard to even get it due to the clutter

3 you can learn and learn and learn however, much like tf2 you can be a master of the game and still be screwed by rng, nerfs, and unbalanced setups which this game is known for

Like I said it's all good when everything is balanced and works but for now not so much.

If you cannot hook anyone for whatever reason you can still earn points chasing them, hitting them, using your power on them, breaking pallets while you chase.

If your mind breaks every time you "lose", this game is not for you. It is just going to disappoint you over and over again. Change what it means to win in your mind. Aim for at least brutal killer results.

True however there are games you get little to nothing due to how quick the game can be so Idk if those can be considered Hard-earned

If you don't try you will never know the triumph of getting your tormentors on the hook and pulling off an unexpected victory.

There will be good and bad games but you get to earn BP regardless. This leads to more perks and more addon and hopefully more experience. Learn to hide your red light, how to properly use your power, how to run tiles, and use perks that support each other for maximum effect. Always use BBQ and keep track of who you have hooked using the hud.

This game has been out a long time. Many people you face will have thousands of hours. Try to learn from the experiences and read up on things in the DBD wiki so you have game knowledge.

Nothing much I'm just curious how many of you are on a game that you know you can't win and get that feeling of taking the penalty over waiting it out specifically EGC

If the survivors survive my onslaught I open the gates for them. I still try to kill them but I want to start the timer for the match to end. If you don't want to push them out the gate you can do things like break pallets and walls or use your power to get additional points.

Blood points are hard-earned. It is a mind game. A game designed to frustrate. If you are going to stay you must push through the pain until the devs change how the end game works again.

  • I slept on this perk. I can see how it can really help you avoid dead zones. I think it is fair as killers have an equivalent perk.

  • I figured out after 5pm PST the sabo squads come out in force. Every time I do not run BBQ, Iron Grasp, Agitation, Starstruck I regret it.

When I do... I smash them to pieces. This obviously requires you to challenge yourself with no gen slowdown but once you get that first down you get to choose where to hook. I usually carry right into the area they are working gens on. That slows them down if they hide and if they challenge you they go down fast. You actually feel like a killer.

Edit: This only works if you can down survivors fast and understand mind games and the chase mechanics. If those fundamentals are lacking you will need slowdown perks.

  • WGLF always for BP, Botany for fast heals of yourself and others, Kindred for the info, and the last one is up to you. I usually run Leader to help the team cleanse totems faster, so the team heals me and saves me from hook faster, and so I can help them open gates faster.

  • You can run the perk lightborn and not care about flashlights. Franklins demise can knock the flashlights out of their hands. You can also use the perks Iron grasp agitation and starstruck and make it dangerous for them. Otherwise, your only other option is to bait by acting like you are about to pick up the survivor and then hit the saver when they get too close.

I do just fine with my comfort killers.

Its stressful but I still get the job done. I have a lot of misdeeds on my conscience but I've survived the killerpocalypse.

The things we have done will forever haunt us. I take comfort that the Entity made me do it.

  • Killer is not worth it without BBQ. I would have quit in 2017 if killers kept earning just as much as survivors for an obviously harder role. I personally have given up on gen defense perks and 3 genning and do not regret it. Yes, some teams finish gens super fast but many times I still 4k and my matches are not taking forever. I also get to experiment with lots of different perks. I will try your ideas but winning is not my top priority. Earning BP is.

  • If you faced a team of solos with lots of experience it would be similar. SWF many times will give each other bad info, especially if you switch targets often. SWF tends to mess around until the killer starts winning and then the callouts get more intense.

I just want an indication of how many were SWF at the end of the match and some bonus bp for hosting their party.

  • If his cage gave stacks for BBQ I think he would be more popular.

  • Very hard to mind game if they are stretched res. The only way around it is to abandon them and hope that the next person is playing the game normally.

  • They ask no quarter and will give none. The cycle of blood will not be denied. The forever war continues...

  • She is very strong on maps other killers dread.

She can be harassed and disrupted but can quickly turn the tables if she keeps her cool and thinks ahead.

Her small size and terror radius are great for sneaking up on healing survivors which is usually my goal.

Back in 2016, I would trap gens but these days a random web of traps in dead zones is most time-efficient for me.

  • Playing since Oct 2016 and I have taken 3 breaks, and one was for 9 months. Each time I came back the game was improved.

The best thing I have done is to rarely run gen slowdown perks. Faster matches and it opens up so many other possibilities to expose survivors to perks they don't see every match. It also challenges me to make something happen in the limited time I have. The result is a lot of "brutal killer" results but I always make great BP. When I do 4k without gen slowdown it makes me smile.

Going into matches without the expectation of victory has reduced my stress. Go with the flow and DBD is actually fun most of the time.

  • I want SciFi Horror.

    Alien and Ripley.

    The Thing and MacReady.

    The Blob and whoever.

    Tremors creature and Kevin Bacon.

  • I would never prestige any killer as there is just too much to spend points on if you play all killers. I did buy one of the PH skins in the store though. I really enjoy him.

As others have mentioned nurses, monitor, and sloppy can lead to double downs through walls.

  • I have been enjoying BBQ, Mindbreaker, Nurses, and Sloppy with her. No gen defense so you need to get people injured and downed quickly.

  • Being fair feels good to me. I still kill but I spread out the horror and respect that somebody is taking the time to play with me.

  • Crowd control / Retribution /Thrill /Haunted grounds/Pimento or Undying sounds fun actually.

Edit: After some thought BBQ, Crowd control, Thrill, Pimento will be what I am trying tonight.

Nope, just pointing out the double standard people have here. 2k hours in killer, 1k hours in survivor. Havent encountered lightborn pretty much ever, only used it once since it's change.

I am passionate about the game in general. That means both sides. I will defend fair mechanics and accuse insulting mechanics equally.

Seriously, what is it with people and not understanding double standards in this game. I have in general defended killer mechanics more than survivor mechanics. Equally as passionate.

What if the perk worked against everything except flashlights but drained their batteries faster?

Oh, so Trapper's change in patch 3.6.0 can be reverted then? Where sabotaging traps was removed from the game? Or heck, even revert the changes from patch 2.1.0, where Trapper's traps respawned after 3 minutes if sabotaged instead of being fully removed from the game.

Yknow, if Trappers want to place traps, then survivors can destroy them permanently, end of discussion. Right? Or do we now have a double standard?

You sound very passionate about flashlights being removed from matches for someone who says they are a killer main.

You sound like an SWF main.

    Have you encountered lightborn recently?

Let me take you back to 2016 to give an example from killer POV that is quite comparable here:

You could sabotage Trapper traps in 2016 and fully remove Trapper's ability from the game. Trapper was already the weakest killer at the time, so anyone with Saboteur or a Toolbox would remove his ability. It was just an insult to injury. The weakest killer being nerfed even harder by a survivor perk.

I wouldnt say shame on people using it, just that the design of the perk is an insult.

I remember. I also remember trapping under the feet. I agree with you that all perks should get a QOL and game health pass.

Because they dont sit on gens if they are nearby for a flashlight save, plenty of survivors who will run close just for the chance of a flashlight save, wasting time only once and then never trying it again. Let alone the amount of time good survivors will walk into you after blinding you, or survivors who use quick and quiet into a locker after blinding you that get away with it. So instead, you have survivors who never try things that would be normally be beneficial to them when they blind a killer since Lightborn is in the game and anything blind related is fully ignored.

Lightborn currently saves you time once. That's not worth the perk slot, let alone that it doesnt really help killers. Make it more deceptive and it would have a net-gain for killers. People really dont see the value in misinformation these days anymore. As a survivor, Diversion and Deception tend to buy me quite a lot of time just because of misinformation. Killers dont really have any perks that give misinformation. Dark Devotion, Distressing and Monitor and Abuse are really the only perks in the game that give misinformation. One of them being quite bad at it too. The rest of the perks simply takes information away. Let alone that these misinformation perks arent even that great for misinforming, since you do not know who recieves the misinformation. Having a perk that lets you know who exactly has the wrong information and use that misinformation against them is quite beneficial.

Plenty of teams are sabo squads these days and will be right nearby when someone is downed trying to sabo or body block. That is why I have become fond of Starstruck, Iron Grasp, Agitation. I am not advocating for Lightborn as much as I am saying there is no shame in using it.

No, it was predominately survivors complaining about potato teammates.

There's zero reason for killers to want MMR.

New killers certainly do not want to be matched with players with thousands of hours. Devs want players to stay and at least have a shot at winning some of their initial matches.

  • I am amused by the point that survivors will just sit on gens if you use Lightborn as if they don't already do that.

I would be open to removing the aura reading altogether and removing immunity from blast mines, but also removing the tell from the flashlight beam.

  • Flashlight saves are Killer points denial and very frustrating if the person saved took a while to down. I understand why someone would like that aspect removed from their games. The original thread was a killer saying he should not be shamed for using this perk. The counterpoint is they are easy to avoid and the perk slot is more valuable for other things. Both these things are correct. Use whatever perks you like.

As far as changing the perk I am all for it as long as it makes game sense.

Denial of an item is frustrating but also part of the randomness of DBD. It will certainly not happen as often as a killer encountering COH.

  • Michael, Clown, Trapper are my favorite classic killers. From the new batch, I enjoy Pyramid Head and The Artist.

  • Wraith is the killer I dread facing the most. Blights are pretty annoying too. Instadown huntress also up there.

  • I got her adept and then focused on using other killers to earn bp to unlock all perks. I will play her but am sort of waiting to see if they nerf her as I do not want to train myself on something that will change.
