    Now its

"Show us how you play without tunneling, whilst you going afk at the start of the round, while spinning in place for 5 minutes, while the survivors are coordinating, while the stars aligning…"

    I think that's a great point.

It basically boils down to: '[insert strategy here] is unbeatable, ergo if you beat the survivors, they must not have been using [insert strategy here], because its unbeatable.'

It is related the example of 'Good survivors are unbeatable, ergo if the killer won, the survivors must not have been good'.

People have established their conclusion and are working backwards from that instead of looking at evidence and working toward a conclusion.

Oh yeah and, unfortunately, thats why there is no reason to continue discussing anything with them.

They have no data, nothing tangible, nothing realistic, just endless what if and hypotheticals. Just look at all the responses I got from actual game footage of my matches; more hypotheticals, more guess work; all to defend their narrative.

I was half expecting one of them to respond to me with some sort of tournament footage, justifying why THEY tunnel.

Like you stated perfectly. They have already drawn a conclusion and convinced themselves. Even in the face of something showing them the opposite. Its a defense mechanism at the end of the day, its up to them to change that mindset noone else. But that would be admitting wrong or fault, so dont hold your breath.

We can just only hope BHVR sees this kind of stuff and make sure they understand where critical analysis comes from; versus circular reasoning and hypothetical excuses.

A lot of it is echo chamber, up to them if they want to approach these things or not.

Chucking, don't bother arguing about this. I posted multiple times across a few threads here about how Ghostface, considered a Low Tier Killer if not incredibly weak (he isn't), could hold up with a similarly skilled Blight and Wesker in a round against equally good Survivors, and I got downvoted to hell for it because nobody wants to hear that lower tier Killers can be decent if the player is good or you run the right perks. They need to hold onto this idea they're "just bad" for their ego's sake.

If those saying that ever had the realization they're wrong, and these Killers actually DO require you to be more skilled than just spamming a power as say… Kaneki, or Blight, or Nurse? They'd feel bad. We can't have someone prove them wrong on the internet, now can we? Nope, downvoting and trying to argue the opposite is so much easier…

And no. You're not required to tunnel, slug, or camp on Ghostface either. Or Pig. Or Sadako. Or Myers… Or… insert "weak low tier Killer" here.

Well, my example is probably their worst nightmare, the kind of result their hypotheticals can’t explain away.

I had everything stacked against me:

    1. Eyrie of crows: most survivor sided map.
    2. Playing Vommy Mommy; tall, easily spotted from far away.
    3. Low mobility killer.
    4. Mostly an M1 killer with a conditional M2.
    5. One gen left, only three hook states, and all gens with progress.

No tunneling. Still pulled a 3K win.

According to them, that’s “impossible.” But it happened.

And that’s the point, tangible gameplay beats endless what-if spirals. Hypotheticals aren’t being used to explore ideas or balance. They’re being used to deflect, to protect their belief system, and worse, to avoid the work of actually analyzing games.

What ifs and hypotheticals can go both ways, endlessly. All they are doing is trying to win an argument on the internet. Nothing to do with dead by daylight or balance. Much like the "like" and "dislikes" they are looking for confirmation bias reinforcement.

So yeah, it’s ironic. They say "I’m in a fantasy for not tunneling", while they build their argument on a fantasy version of matches, and ones that I post as well. Dismissing them and picking them apart to fit their narrative, and ignoring the things posted above.

We need to push back, because if all the forums ever hear are emotional complaints dressed up as logic, developers, and players; never get the full picture.

First of all, I very much respect that you actually posted video of your gameplay. So many on this forum like to have strong opinions about things with zero experience to back up those opinions. You are one of the few who doesn’t do this.

I watched the start of the video (don’t have time to finish it now, but will do so later), and I can already see that this match doesn’t apply to the situations I was addressing with my post. The first survivors you found were clearly F-ing around, not gen-rushing. It’s easy to see very early on why you didn’t need to tunnel given the lack of coordination or urgency to complete the objectives from the survivor team. I am not arguing that tunneling is required in matches like this. I’ve had plenty of matches play out the way this one did.

I’m talking about tunneling being required in games where survivors are coordinating, splitting up on gens (right from the beginning, which clearly did not happen in your match) and taking full advantage of the mathematical advantage they have which allows them to get all the gens done around the 4th or 5th hook as long as all the survivors are decent at looping and evading the killer. Sure, this doesn’t apply to every game, but I’ve had plenty of games go this way.

My whole point is that nobody should feel bad about playing the way they feel they need to play in order to win. Some matches require tunneling to secure a kill/win because of the skill level and coordination of the survivors, and some matches maybe the survivors aren’t as good but hey maybe the killer isn’t very good either and tunneling might be needed to secure a kill/win for those less-skilled players. It’s very easy for those who have never played killer (there are plenty of them around here) to criticize when they themselves have never been in these situations.

Ive posted gameplay nonstop on this forum for awhile. So I dont know why it was even necessary. The least you can do is reciprocate for really any further discussion* as this post of yours is just goal post shifting.

*(A match where you think you were required to tunnel)

    First it was

"Show us how you play without tunneling"

    Now its

"Show us how you play without tunneling, whilst you going afk at the start of the round, while spinning in place for 5 minutes, while the survivors are coordinating, while the stars aligning…"

You are creating a scenario where ITS THE BEST scenario for survivors, and THE WORST scenario for the killer to fit your narrative.

Hypotheticals dont support anything im afraid.

But worst and best scenario if you watched the full match, happens towards the end. Where I am not in any position to be strong or comfortable. And during the match I was never really in a strong position to begin with it was pretty even until the end where it shifted completely to them with 1 gen remaining and 3 hook stages.

I watched the start of the video (don’t have time to finish it now, but will do so later), and I can already see that this match doesn’t apply to the situations I was addressing with my post. The first survivors you found were clearly F-ing around, not gen-rushing. You're just dead wrong here.

They werent doing gens immediately to avoid disease. Its part of plague slowdown. The equivalent of this is stealthing out nurse at the start of the match. You dont just go onto gens immediately.

    Plus they were in corrupt.

And you need to be reminded again, or you just didnt watch the video:

1 gen left, 3 hook stages.
I wasnt exactly in a strong position, ignoring that I am on Eyrie of crows to begin with.

    No tunnel, no camp, no slug;

Just macro play. You see hints of this every time that little Yui went main.

My guess is most killers who think "tunneling is necessary" would continue chase with that person. Which would lose them the match. And then be like "SEE IF I DIDNT TUNNEL…"

Heres another one as well this time its pigeroni.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeGWe7d4C_s

Your response can basically be summed up as this common dismissal:
"Well those are low mmr survivors"

No matter what I posted you would have said this.

They’re not exactly comparable, but they are absolutely related. Let’s say someone is playing a setup-style killer with low mobility. Survivor team splits up and gets 2-3 gens done by the time killer gets first hook. Rinse and repeat during the next chases and the gens are done after 3-4 hooks, and of course we have to be super careful to make sure nobody has been hooked twice yet or else that is considered tunneling. What else is killer supposed to do to apply pressure to the survivor team to try to secure at least one kill? You live in a fantasy world where killers have unlimited time to play super nice even when survivor teams are playing very efficiently and gens are flying.

I’d love to see some of your killer gameplay so you can show us all the proper way that killers should be handling these situations.

I’d love to see some of your killer gameplay so you can show us all the proper way that killers should be handling these situations.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fXDwRciiJU

No tunneling. Low mobility killer. Even got sent to Eyrie

1 gen left 3 hook stages still won.

    Dont move any goalposts now.

Would like to see your killer gameplay as it seems the problem is not me here.

  • No idea. Term came out of excuses from what I can tell. Survivors have nothing else to do. Asking them what they are supposed to be doing would pretty much nulify any complaints about it.

Tunneling though. As many seem to, hilariously, attempt to compare it to. Killers can choose who they want to chase. Survivors dont get to choose anything but doing a generator.

They are simply incomparable. Embarrassing for anyone trying to make a similarity between the two.

  • Not surprised the usual suspects derail your thread @jesterkind

It can be discouraging to post; when its met with ad hominems, false equivalencies, and contextually ignorant responses.

Understanding your message though; and I agree. There’s a time and a place for tunneling, but generalizing it as 100% go to strategy in every situation, without considering context or adapting your gameplay, works against a killer’s best interest in the long run.

You will struggle once you start facing higher MMR opponents.

It’s like using a calculator in math. Sure, it’s helpful, and sometimes even necessary; but if you rely on it for everything, you don’t develop the core skills you’ll need later. Once you reach higher level math; calculus, derivatives, integrals, linear alg etc…. You’re expected to actually understand and apply the foundations you've built. You can’t lean on shortcuts like WolframAlpha, Symbolab, Desmos, Calculators forever.

Same with DBD: if you don’t develop your fundamentals like pressure, chase skills, map awareness, reading(not literary but maybe lol) you’ll hit a wall and come to the conclusion "tunneling is the only answer"

With the changes on the horizon your last point, yes, if BHVR intends on discouraging this playstyle; you really are going to struggle as a killer if this is your go to strategy. But we just dont know what they have planned.

Personally I would love the game to discourage both camping and tunneling, I dont do it myself out of respect for my opponents. If I lose, its not because I "chose not to tunnel" it could be due to so many other things, thats fine too.

And people really need to be a bit more humble, but this is the internet; losing is apparently seen as the ultimate weakness for whatever reason. So admission of it is rarely seen on the forum, and admission of messing up anything else in their play… honestly I haven't seen it yet.

Which is understandable given the responses you got just in this post. You are dogpiled with just nonsense.

You do so to avoid legion injuring the entire team, like you with oni to make him cancel his power. I thought this was common knowledge.

that is the silliest suggestion ever.

Also getting a free down fast, versus not but a bunch of injuries and a free down later?

You wouldnt even do this in 1v4.

Tbh the legion+oni combo is strong cuz of obvious reasons but the legion frenzy down is absolutelly counterable. In 2v8 is harder to counter it however you can force the legion into a locker pickup to avoid them injuring multiple survivors. I am sorry but if legion gets a frenzy down it was 100% on the survivors.

    What is this suggestion?

Youd rather a faster down from a locker pickup…

Then a longer down from a 9th hit legion?

    ????????

Blight and Oni are easy to loop. Nurse is beyond stupid. I rarely EVER complain about a killer. Literally.

There is no time or space before he can just whack you again.

    https://youtu.be/seI9uf8V1vg?si=7BcWULhmMJ7MGChp

Just like here. Downed instantly. Couldn’t even make the pallet that is literally right there.

Ill say his catch-up highlights my issues with him and top tier killers.

    Too much distance
    No cooldown

    The person being overly assumptive and rude I wont bother responding to but lets dive into the jungle gym idea with another diagram;

    image.png

This window is a deadzone, no matter how you play it. The kaneki would have to have their keyboard/mouse/controller just stop working for you to not go down here. Even if you perfectly read the window, without a health state for distance, you die there.

This is another classic example of people thinking 0 macro and all micro. You dont play windows that do nothing for you, and you definitely dont play windows that do nothing for you, closer to your downed/hooked teammates.

Your perk though is the answer. That being DH.
Could have DH'd the pallet and made more distance.

    image.png

To be fair I think what happened was you were spamming the pallet pull down, and thought you had it. I probably would have thought this as well.

This is a split second decision, I cant backseat game this idea. I would equally try to throw this pallet or deadhard. Sucks that he was just too close.

your comments on blight and Oni, yes you could outplay them on deadzones with their powers.

Blight you can play around his power on terrain, like rocks and such. Same with Oni.

Kaneki is unfortunately just nurse lite™ in this situation.

  • No we actually do know what you would do since you keep repeating it. And this is what would happen:

    Last response for you.

    image.png

Sorry bout your situation @MechWarrior3 you really needed a health state, or shack pallet here to do anything. Getting stuck in that corner of the map with Kaneki is never a good spot to be in. Especially if your mid map has no resources.

You ran distance as it was your only option in search of something. Sadly there was nothing. You did everything right here.

Hope you dont run into him more. It is a bit of an annoyance.

  • @terumisan said:

so instead of using the tools you have available at the time which was shack window you would cut your losses and run to a dead zone like op?

i'd at least try because kaneki might make enough of a mistake to let me run to a pallet but he decided to run to a pallet that was too far and got punished

What? Shack window itself is a deadzone in this situation so I dont know what you are on about with "deadzones" here.

Plus there is another slugged teammate nearby.

So its more like a "get away from this zone"

Just because there is a window in the vicinity in chase, doesnt mean you should use it. Thats how you get WOO brain plays from low MMR/skilled survivors.

You arent thinking macro or team with your window idea here. Theres no way you use it here. Its an unsafe window.

    "use tools around you"
Yea the right tools. The shack window is not one of those tools.

  • @terumisan said:

it's not as safe as a normal shack but it's still an option than nothing also if i were in that position i would've vaulted shack window either ran back to the gallows or went towards the saloon buildings since he's a m1 killer at chained loops

If you did anything with that window against Kaneki in this situation, it would be 100% on the Kaneki's skill if they dont just down you at shack. You dont 50/50 shack short side in this video. Youd either vault right into him, or hed just wait and then chase you round, the doors even open for him.

    This isnt an option.

And youll just be slugged next to his other slug.

Grats, now the killer has an easier time with his 2 downs.

  • Yea I mean kaneki is getting 2 downs here.

Shack was thrown, and you are on the window side against Kaneki. Shack window isnt an option;would be a nonstarter of an idea. People who are saying to use shack window are not saying anything genuine here.

Plus you arent making any distance against the slug even if you do this. You are just delaying a 2 down, in the same area.

You played the only thing you realistically had. You didnt do anything wrong here.

Outside of giga delay aginst kaneki on top of the slug. Which would be pure 50/50 rng on that weak pallet, or that dumb window idea people are using, you are just dead.

None of these responses were genuine to you which is unfortunate @MechWarrior3.

I agree. I can't be bothered when I see him as the killer. The nerfs helped sure, but they nerfed the wrong stuff. I have several videos like this where I can't even make the pallet because of the insta hits. I have videos where the pallet is WAY closer and I STILL can't make.

Yea totally agree. What needs to happen with the top tier killers is their main issues that … were not touched.

Main issues with the top tier killers:
    1) Too much distance
    2) No reasonable cooldowns

    Kaneki has an added one.

    3) A free first hit.

Talk about picking up old stuff. I said that over a year ago and I still stand by my opinion.

A lot of people use reshade, a third party software, to gain an advantage in the game. The game was not programmed with reshade in mind. The devs even abandoned offerings that made it so that the players could change the lighting in game because they wanted to have more control over it. If people have issues seeing things in game, then that is totally valid to point out as an issue of accessibility. We should then change the sliders we have IN GAME to adress these issues.

Using third party software imo. is cheating. Thats how I see it personally. Doesnt mean that its necessarily a bannable offence. No matter how small or big the advantage might be, its an advantage, their opponent might not have. People using to gain that adavntage are cheating. Sorry not sorry.

Yea this is honestly how it is as well in many pvp games.

Reshade is banned in all popular PVP games.
DBD just wants to make excuses it seems. Rather than put their foot down.

People comparing this to voice communication or hertz/fps… lmfao, these arent serious arguments.

You cant police voice comms, and you cant police someone using a different monitor or graphics card. Or restriction on innovations in technology as well.

There’s a big difference between having a better monitor versus, modifying the game visuals or audio to highlight enemies. One is a natural hardware edge; the other is altering the game itself to gain an advantage the devs didn’t intend.

There is clear precedence in PVP games. DBD just has to get with the program on this, its such a joke that it even needs to be a suggestion.

    • Accessibility is something the base game has to take into account. Not 3rd party programs.
    • Only a small portion of the population has severe enough impairments to need visual or audio assistance to that degree.
    • Among gamers, especially competitive ones, those with normal or corrected-to-normal vision and hearing make up the clear majority.

So accessibility can only go so far. To the point that I just dont believe someone on the internet saying left right and center that they have all these issues. Its not probable to even begin with.

Its precedence too; as its banned in pretty much any competitive PVP game:
      COD
      Valorant
      Fornite
      Rainbow
      Apex
    • etc…

And none of these games have any options on their graphics that are more sophisticated than DBD's environment.

Ignore all the attempted bullet point organization. These devs cant make a balanced, fun game. And they cant make a website correctly I swear.

  • @ohheyitsbobcat said:

Isn't this just the filters debate all over again?

    Yup.

Think that both are the exact same idea, and shouldn't be allowed to use.

Both can be argued for "hard of vision/hearing". Which are poor arguments.

  • Lobby times in 2v8 for killer has nothing to do with anything other than too many people want to play killer, and not enough people wanting to play survivor

Obvious reasons why as well. One side is considerably more fun, engaging, and new. And the other side has no difference compared to regular mode. And you will now just be slugged in most Oni matches so there REALLY is no point.

  • I think the best part of threads like this is we have the same names in here, who say their matches (which are overwhelmingly soloQ) are all turbo rushed gens and they have to tunnel, but then apparently their teammates also dont do gens in soloQ?

    Fun stuff.

  • Did a single killer match after waiting for like 10 minutes.

Laughed as I watched Oni teammate patrol generators and slug and then went back to playing survivor.

First survivor game of the day, and a wesker bug grabbed someone lol

  • Personally like where hes at currently.

Punishing if you dont interact with clocks correctly, and has sensible traversal cooldowns. Good changes all around

  • She definitely needs nerfs.

Aura reading wont change this killer at the high end. We nurse mains dont need aura reading to still have a completely broken killer.

It wouldnt really matter if you had aura reading during blink you dont use it that way anyways at the higher end.

I dont get a fast down at the start of the game because of aura reading during power. I get it because shes fundamentally broken with little cooldown and too much distance.

1 Blink wouldnt really fix anything either. It would just make her inaccessible to anyone, her learning curve is already too difficult for the majority of the killer base that plays this game. (based on low kill rates at average mmr 3 times in a row). So your whole thing on "bad nurse players" would just turn into "badder nurse players"…

Since you think only good nurse players need only one blink, which they definitely dont, you need 2. Heres some research material before making claims like this:
    https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2460101926

His first hit is 2 blinks. You can watch where your 1 blink theory applies and it really is only on guarenteed close blink hits. Its 2 everywhere else.

This is the best nurse player in the world for DBD currently. So please stop spreading this nonsense on "need only one blink"

The game ends the second Survivors decide they want to sit in the gates and make you hit them out. I am not going to go to the gates and do that, I would rather forfeit gracefully and move on unless I'm running endgame perks. For me, the round is over with the gate opening. Most of the Killers I play DON'T HAVE stuff to catch Survs in the endgame unless I run something like No Way Out. What are you expecting a Dredge to do at the end? What are you expecting Trapper to do at the end?

It isn't my job to enforce Survivors ending the game and moving on, it's everyone's job to move on for the sake of spOrtsmanship.

I refuse to force Survivors out of the gates, I refuse to give anyone the satisfaction of rubbing it in. The last time I tried to "just hit them out", I was Sadako, and had a WHOLE TEAM come in to humiliate, taunt and bait me all round when I tried to give them the win. They solely waited until the last second baiting me into trying to push them out and waited until the last possible second when I refused to, why? To rub their win in. To dunk on an M1 Killer on a map offering THEY brought (it was MacMillan's and we got the Mine map). They were so severely harassing and frustrating that I tried to AFK and they sat inside me demanifested. I left for half an hour and they waited to do all the gens and bait my hits for the 4 man out solely, solely so they could teabag at the end and call me a baby Killer for being rusty at Sadako.

That was one year ago and it felt so damn bad, I have not touched Sadako since.

Screw "just hit them out". Thwere's too many sore winners and bullies in this game that simply do not deserve that satisfaction. I'm not going to play at the end when this is all they actually want to do, and it's SHOCKING that the community expects anyone to.

The way Killer players are sometimes treated by some Survivors is abysmal and not okay, we fixed the worst of it for Survivor but I am so incredibly sick and tired of people not treating Kller players the same, as if they're emotionless husks just because they're the antagonist role. Harassing someone all round when they clearly aren't playing well just to make them feel bad and then baiting them into "nah nah can't catch me" BS isn't funny, cute, or something anyone should put up with, it's done to cause rage and tilt people - that makes it griefing. This is griefing.

I will die on this hill - we need an Abandon feature to prevent this sort of scenario. It 100% feels exactly like being slugged for a four man bleedout and I don't care if it's equal or not, that's what it feels like and that is all I care about fixing. This game should not be rewarding sore winners.

Design wise, if we give players an out at every emotionally frustrating point

ie:losing a chase, survivors escaping, bad map pressure…

it effectively becomes a "skip button" for unfavorable outcomes.

The survivor abandon feature was added in response to forced loss of agency; situations like slugging and match stalling, that made the game unplayable.

Killers, even at the endgame, still have agency: tools, mobility, power, and potential for clutch plays/kills. That's a critical difference.

Wanting to abandon the match just because it feels unwinnable isn't the same as the match being over. That’s part of the loss condition. Designing around frustration or ego instead of gameplay, opens the door to abuse and undermines the value of key moments, especially in the endgame.

  • @NaveR said:

Being able to move doesn't mean the match is not over. Don't get me started on "plenty" of kills with a max count of 4 lol.

There have been matches in my experience where killers knocked down 4 survivors only to let them up (dropping one until they're on their feet) and do gens and probably farm a bit. You're no psychic and can't tell what's going on in the killer's head, so does that mean the introduction of the surrender option is unjustified? Not really. So why do you appeal to "you don't know who's in the gate, go waste your time to check it out and potentially watch them teabag you" as the reason for not adding an abandon option for killers? I fight til the end, and am highly unlikely to use the option, but I'd appreciate having the option to do so. What I don't appreciate is double standards. Survivors think the match is done? Sure, leave with no penalty. The killer thinks the match is done? Let them walk around the map cuz they can.

Okay this answer is just saying
"I dont want to play that part of the game because its unfavorable and someone might be t-bagging me"

The match is still alive. You have the ability to get kills. If you want an abandon feature to circumvent this part of the game, you dont want to play the full game at that point and are just asking to skip parts you deem unplayable and a waste of time, even though we have data telling you otherwise.

You have full agency still as killer, power and all, but you just dont want to play the part where the exit gates are powered because you might have someone tbag you. Thats emotion and ego being the problem; not the game.

The abandon feature was not added when everyone was slugged/hooked because emotion and ego was a problem, the game was being stalled for no reason, survivors had no agency. Ignoring this fact and to attempt a comparison, is troublesome in conversation.

Hopefully as the dev/community manager answered; they see through this false equivalency and destructive "skipping parts I dont like because I cant handle a control button" and never even consider this change.

If people are this bothered by t-bagging; they need to look a bit inward and stop playing video games. As a killer I am never bothered by this, if anything its hilarious to watch. Especially bunny fengs, or just fengs in general.

Great reasoning for why they shouldn't have implemented abandon feature for survivors, but they have done it and it's extremely unlikely to revert it

Gameplay stalling issue still exists on killer side, whether you can understand it or not is different problem though

The survivors had the system implemented because the game was stalled. There was no control for several minutes on a dead match.

A killer still has full control over their character, and has the ability to still get kills.

You dont know whos at the exit gates and whos still in the match, you can and will get plenty of kills.

  • A change like this would just set a precedent of being able to leave when something is not in your favour and you want to give up.

Thats essentially what this change is, you not wanting to play once the exit gates are powered.

Eventually people will then ask to abandon because there is 1 gen left, or 2, or 1 hook for several minutes etc…

Exit gates powered =/= the game is over.

If you dont like tbagging in an unfavorable scenario, apply that to the entire match, and emotionally grow.

The abandon feature on survivor was changed due to gameplay stalling issues not emotional problems.

Tournament results are not valid in this type of discussion because many tournaments impose different restrictions on playing specific maps, and banning specific perks per killer. For example, on nurse a ton of perks are banned, on trapper, very few are banned. Trapper goes to his best map specifically, and TONS of survivor perks are banned against trapper and far less against nurse.

Basically, comp attempts to balance the game different per killer and have different ladders and rankings per killer.

Okay so you are hard moving onto another topic entirely in the post now with hypotheticals and goal posts around what you personally define as high mmr.

This post that started out as:
"I dont like seeing survivors t-bag me at the exit gates, please implement an abandon feature for it"

    Pivoting(no surprise) now to:
"Heres what high MMR can do in matches, but I cant provide any documented proof of that, just accept what I say"

Make another post at this point, as you have gone off topic from your OP, and provide tangible proof to back up what you say. Make sure to not cherry pick the data you also use.

  • @Reinami said:

notice how the very first statement i made was a question asking "have you never played a game at high MMR?" and then describing a common scenario i encounter. I didn't assume anything, i asked them a question, then described a common experience in my games.

Have you never played a game at high MMR?

You led with this question for:

    • "You’re inexperienced"
    • "Your argument is invalid because you must not understand high-level play"

If you want to have an honest discussion about high mmr you need to watch the things you actually quote like chase times, because you quickly will see you are just leaving kills on the table, because you want to give up. Because "the exit gates are powered"

In my spare time here I watched some of the tournament rounds and they consistently get kills, even when the exit gates are powered with the ability to body block.

    • Both dredge matches from Elysium and Eternal exit gates are powered, no insta down ability, 3 body blocks, and they still secured a kill in the end.
    • Unknown qualifiers, Silence still secured a kill with 3 body blocks available, no insta down ability. And exit gates were powered.
    • Origin qualifiers, Plague still secured a kill a kill with the exit gate open.
    • Quarter finals, Houndmaster secured their 2k with the exit gate open.

Like I could go on but you cant just ignore kills on the table, "just because the exit gates are powered".

With your suggestion on abandoning just because the exit gates are powered.
You essentially want to give up at that point, because you dont want to play that part of the game.

If you had your way, killer 0ks would become inflated as people would give up when they could still get a kill.

You cant quote high mmr chase times and hypotheticals in your "head math" post above, but then ignore actual high mmr gameplay when it doesnt fit your narrative. .

This entire post has shifted from "let me abandon I dont like tbagging"

to "you see what people in high mmr can do?"

If you want to pivot (stay on topic, this doesnt work on me)from frustration about survivor behavior to a debate on killer viability at high MMR, make another post, but let’s not pretend it’s the same topic. It isn’t.

  • Egh…when posters try to assume others MMR. Especially when you never get to see these people's play in any format its just like…

    what are we doing here?

You are just assuming only you has high MMR experience, let alone are even high mmr to begin with, and then just assume that others arent.

It really just leaves their argument on grandstanding with nothing factual behind it.

Noone here, including me, knows their MMR.

Its like trying to appeal to authority, but the authority is themselves.

  • The underlying message of this post is

"I want to give up because the game didnt go my way, and not get a DC penalty"

Since the game isnt over, you still have full control over your character. You still can get kills.
You just dont want to as you have given up.

Where do you draw the line for this then? It doesnt just stop at the exit gates with this message from this suggestion.

When there is 1 gen and you only have 2 hooks on seperate people, and you arent getting a down quick enough?
How about no hooks? Or 2 gens? Or 3 gens at the start were too fast for you….?

Like there is clearly no line to draw with this message. As you've given up when the match is still alive.

I already said this, but it warrants repeating: it can't be a double standard because they aren't equivalent.

I have personally had games where I forced the lingering survivors to make mistakes and gotten additional kills in this exact scenario. I was able to punish this bad behavior, with the base kit tools. I'm not implying that's common, but it's certainly a possible outcome (and some killers excel at this).

That option is simply not available in any capacity for a slugged survivor. The killer is not forced to interact with the survivors in your scenario, where the survivor has no choice but to be humped for 4 minutes and cannot get away without that feature.

I'm sorry, but at some point you need the bigger person and know when to walk away or simply ignore the trolls. The devs cannot be expected to give additional mechanics to overcome that.

Yup 100% what this user is saying.

I have had kills because of survivor misplays at the exit gates.

As well as someone who is zoned (you dont know) but has to hide as the last gen has popped, but you are in their way. Getting a kill since not everyone is at the exit gate. You dont know.

There are countless situations where just because the exit gate is complete, the game is not over. Many of which have nothing to do with perk loadout.

The abandon feature was added to not deal with game stalling and no control over it.

The abandon feature should not expand to deal with people who refuse to just go hit people out of the game. You still have full control over your character AND have a chance to get kills.

    These situations are nothing alike.

Slugging and not moving on was an issue. So abandon feature was added.

A person just giving up based on their emotional state, when the match is still alive, is not an issue. So the abandon feature should not be added.

Since the game is not over and you dont like t-bagging. You may as well apply this to the rest of the match. And quickly realize this becomes an even sillier suggestion.

Just was able to watch your vids. Well done! While those killers have a blatant advantage of being able to surprise you (and in turn make it easier for you to be out of place), do at least keep in mind that when facing those killers, that's something to consider. If you're in an area with little loop potential, alarm bells should already be going off. I try to always position myself where IF they do show up, I have options.

Speaking of nurse, you'll love this one!

    https://youtu.be/B3Yyevr6zFo

Now just to clarify, I almost entirely play solo queue,

Not calling you out but… this match you arent lol. This is also pretty old of a clip, 3 Distortion stacks, RIP.

Nice totem hole though for sure.

But yea its something I have been a big proponent for, hard nerfs. Sadly people dont agree on the forums that she needs a hard nerf to her kit.

This is coming from someone who mained her for years and its just silly the kinds of hits you get.

Faster killers though, you really just dont have many options. Even weskers dash is enough to zone you out of options. (not saying wesker is imbalanced, im just saying it doesnt have to be nurse tier for chase control to be in the killers hands)

If you're in an area with little loop potential, alarm bells should already be going off. I try to always position myself where IF they do show up, I have options.

Oh for sure. Its just you dont know that always due to LOS + no WOO, comms.

Map design INDEED leaves much to be desired, I'll agree there. Some of the changes they made are just...odd (talking about you Ormond). There are definitely killer favored maps as well as survivor favored maps. However, thats a map design issue, not a perk issue.

Now just to clarify, I almost entirely play solo queue, so I almost always run WOO as I'm not certain what resources the other survivors are using. Again though, it's about having to adapt to situations. If you have bad survivor teammates, then it is what it is. The problem about having perks that erase survivor mistakes due to bad survivor teammates is that those perks still exists when survivors aren't playing poorly in which which the advantage is already in the survivors favor (unless it's a blight or nurse, I'm a strong believer in nerfs for blight and nurse).

Yea I mean there is a couple problems with it as well think you touched on the last one

    1) It's not in the literal sense, but if you dont want to deal with it, the game forces you to take stuff like WOO as you just cant comm/coord
    2) Perks become the answer to game design flaws/lack

Like heres this clip from just a few minutes ago. I could have gone down pretty much anywhere or gotten hit. This is just one example, albiet nurse, where I really dont have a choice.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBiDsIuWJMU

I just have to delay and …

wherever that delay leads me = me down

Obviously nurse, but there are more examples where I just dont have a choice what happens here. This situation was entirely up to this nurses skill.

This billy you have a BIT more agency but again, its a top tier killer so you dont really have a choice where to go down, you just delay them on what you have surrounding you.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LLeLO4KsTk

Or this one where I dont really have a choice I only have openings to move somewhere based on billys power

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaFiiBqOFDk

Like I am stuck at these rocks until skill issue applies for him I cant go anywhere. Luckily I found an opening and then made it to shack and fake looked straight and spun. I didnt have shack as an option until he made his move several times here. I had to wait.

I feel like what you are talking about where survivors have more choice to go down, is on the weaker killers in chase. Which is a bit more true.

But also depending on whats available as you and I touched on earlier.

And of course skill, can only be so humble on my end. As well as the killers too its not just mine.

As a survivor, you don't control which hook you're hooked on, but you definitely control the area where you'll get hooked. Some sort of loop or vault is almost always near any hook. Im just saying the proper use for DS is after you're unhooked, and if the killer is focusing you, and you know you're going down, ensure a vault or pallet is nearby. Thats what DS is for. They pick you up, and bam, hop off and you instantly have a new loop between you and the killer. A lot of survivors just would equip DS, get downed again, use it, and just be completely out of place and just get downed again within seconds due to not bothering to think about a plan. If the killer is chasing you, you chose where to lead that killer. Use that to your advantage. Me, I like the basement unhook perk, so if I know I'm going down, I'll usually position myself where the killer will likely try to basement hook me. That entirely removes the pressure from my team to have to come rescue me. Am I out of position and in a deadzone? I put myself in that position - that's on me, so to take advantage of a bleak situation, I'd run myself to a corner to try to avoid having the killer hook me in a centralized and easy to patrol area. That last gen almost done? I run him as far away as possible from that last gen to buy that survivor as much pressure free time on the gen.

Survivors have a lot of control over what the killer does. While we can't have them hook us at specific locations, where we are chased is absolutely in our hands. He either follows us to where we want him to be, or he realizes what's up and gives up chase.

That's why a lot of maps had hook locations changed, because survivors could ensure they go down in places where they cannot be hooked. Thats also why strong survivors can consistently run killers for multiple gens without getting downed - they think ahead and don't just blindly hold W. Loops are very powerful against almost all killers save for balance breakers like nurse.

So yes, you are at least correct that DS wasn't helpful for survivors who don't have a plan. For those with a plan, DS is enough to extend chase for more time thanks to using it properly near a loop. That's not a DS issue, that's just inexperience. There's a LOT to learn in DBD, so once you start thinking ahead and have a plan, your survivor potential skyrockets in comparrrison to holding W.

This is thinking in a vacuum of perfect order on the survivors end.

You dont get to control what area you go down or you get to control where you go down, heavily depends on gameplay and killer. Not just experience.

Killers zone you all the time, and with recent map changes, often you are zoned just out of a lack of places to go. We are having issues with 1/4 to 1/3 of the maps spawning with no pallets or extremely weak ones (yamoaka side of main for example and thats it).

Your thing about DS is true if I know what resources are available to me at what direction. Sadly though as @Pulsar states, unless I am ALSO running windows, or have some form of communication, or saw my team the entire match. I dont know what my team has used on the map.

It quickly turns into current nostromo. Where the only plan, is to hold W and make it to the corner ship, and if not you are just dead everywhere else.

  • @NarkoTri1er

Why would we care about comp when pubs is literally all that matters? " the top .00001% players that you will never encounter are really good" fantastic, most of us knew that, most of us realize that has zero bearing on the actual game.

The person specified pubs as well, and you just ignored that to make a point.

Yea their response to me is completely off topic and some pivot to something else entirely.

  • Ill try to keep it short here so others can chime in:

Communication and coordination just not being available. Its why the strategy, regardless of a killer being m1 or not, or really fast around the map, plays little into it.

Fast killers can do it easier, 100% no argument there though.

    Back to comm/coord:
Majority of the playerbase is soloQ. They have no effective way to tell their teammates to go focus on generators(stop trying to flash save/use my full hook state as time), or what pallets have been used, what gens to not do (make it easier with close gens), "can you take a hit for me really quick", "where are you?" etc etc etc

Without these tools or callouts in a team based game, things quickly fall apart as people have their own agenda. Its a "team", but not really in the end.

You have to rely on "ESP" to get results out of scenarios like this:

    relyonteamexample-ezgif.com-video-to-gif-converter.gif

This could have quickly turned into "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" or "PLEASE DROP THE PALLET?" or "insert angry blame phrase here"

This entire chase I kept from away them though, as we had unfavorable generators (people ALWAYS DO the safe ones in soloQ, I have bond and I use it to keep chase away from the generator. This is something people either rarely use, or just dont care and things quickly snowball.

So what you're asking @ChuckingWong for is:

-3 gens to pop that are spread out

-not getting a hook until that time

-the killer not having mobility (so no increased speed, no teleport)

-the killer not having Pain Res

    -no slugging, camping, or tunneling

-not a situation where the Trapper has a setup around the shack

I'm going to take a guess the NOED/end game build is off the table, as are things like Tombstone Myers or a Singularity who has put his cameras around map. I also suspect that a killer who has spread pressure and has multiple survivors injured doesn't count. You've taken out a substantial portion of the killer roster.

It sounds like the killer had a really bad early game. We've taken out the killers who might have been doing setup. Being the killer isn't running gen regression, I have to ask what they are running that led to the chase being this long. Also, this chase had to have happened in a small area or the killer has such 'tunnel' vision that he didn't notice the other survivors as he was running by their gens, meaning the killer almost certainly made some substantial mistakes.

So let's make some points that should be obvious

1: The killer has a bad early game. You're saying you want to see how people play from here, well I want to see what happened that the killer got into this position. When things go wrong for one side, their chance of victory should decrease. I don't expect if the killer gets three downs in the first two minutes for survivors to still have an even shot, I just want them to have some type of shot and the game to still be enjoyable.

2: Trying to find a game like this would take quite some time. Not only would the person taking this challenge need to play from your selected range of killers, they would have to underplay the beginning and the survivors would have to spread out. Any game where the killer got an earlier down or the survivors didn't adequately spread out wouldn't count.

3: How strictly would the no tunnel, no camp, no slug be? People act like BHVR, or even survivors, are saying if someone is left on the ground for 10 seconds the killer auto loses. That's not what people are talking about and BHVR will likely be pretty minimal in their changes, as we've seen with AFC and 3 genning.

4: Let's say someone did record a whole bunch of games and they got 10 to fit your criteria. How many would they have to win? Like if they won 3, drew 1, and lost 6, I'd think that sounds like the killer has amazing come back potential given how bad the start was.

Yea it quickly turns into a lot of conditions that need to be met it seems to satisfy whatever parameters are, continuously going up it seems. All the while having absolute 0 examples in the other direction. I can only provide so much, the onus to provide counter examples has to come at some point. And, unsurprisingly, nothing backs up what they were saying.

I just went off their initial post saying that "unless you have movement and gen regress give up you stand no chance"

I post examples from me and from other sources as well that directly contradicts it.

They can either acknowledge and follow actual data, or disprove it with actual data. Really is that simple.

Whatever head math or perfect bias scenario they come up with, means nothing though.

4 second charge time on a Blink you'll never actually need is not a good thing. I have 5k hours on Nurse alone and I'll never use that addon specifically because of that

    No.

Getting a 3rd blink breaks the game more than you already are.

You essentially just have 100% hit rate on all your attacks. Any nurse main with access to bookmark, knows this. We dont use it as its blatantly unfair. Some use it and it becomes a bad habit of relying on it.

Charge time means nothing when you are carrying the person you had 0 chance of not downing.

You just get another blink. And even SupaAlf, doesn't have 100% blink hit rate. So even he could use it.

It also lets you cover much more distance.

It is the best addon and most broken one in the game, across all killers.

I didnt ask for your hours on nurse. But I now doubt what you say.

You'd know about charge time meaning nothing and distance if what you say about your hours is true.

Was some rough times having DS that weak.

This is the last time I will answer you.

    The full quote is:

"You don't need perks or toolboxes with the best addons. All you need to genrush is to split around at the beginning of the match so 3 non-adjacent generators are completed at the end of the first chase. If you don't have Pain Resonance or a killer with high mobility, that game is problably already over. Those saying that base regression is enough, I would like to see is this situations, turning their words into evidence."

So yes, you are cutting my quote in half, completely ignoring the context of the comment. I would like to see you all in this situation, not your result screen where you may have slugged, camp, tunneled or even use The Trapper with 8 traps on shack. Or even use other as example when they do all this when needed.

You're pivoting to a different argument entirely thats fine if you cant address the fact that you're now repeating the same claim and dodging the evidence again.

I provided multiple matches, mine and from others, showing low-mobility killers with no regression succeeding even when gens are split early, which is the exact situation you described. Some matches involve tunneling, some don't. That’s reality, different strategies, different outcomes.

    You even asked

I would like to see is this situations, turning their words into evidence.

And you go "oh its not good enough, I need videos"

    I provide links to videos

And you go "oh thats not what I said, dont misplace my words"

You're dismissing it all based on speculation, “well maybe they camped, maybe they tunneled, maybe it was Trapper with 8 traps”. You're grasping at maybes and what ifs because you’ve got nothing concrete to offer in return.

If you think your scenario is so decisive, show it. Let’s see a match where the killer loses purely because they lacked Pain Res or mobility, and where base regression was truly "not enough." Because until you do, you’re not arguing, you're just deflecting.

@AmpersandUnderscore I think pivot is my new favorite word on this forum. You see what I mean? Its just constant with these replies.

  • @CLHL said:

    @ChuckingWong

The hell are you talking about. You are literally cutting my quote in half, removing its context at your whim. Then providing some random result screenshot as they prove anything, when they could come from any random streamer like the videos you are pointing me now. You may be forgetting that the conversation is about the changes coming to the game, so knowing the circumstances under which someone dies with less than 10K BP is everything.

If you don't have Pain Resonance or a killer with high mobility, that game is problably already over. Those saying that base regression is enough, I would like to see is this situations, turning their words into evidence.

I'm not cutting your quote out of context, I directly addressed your core claim; that without Pain Res or high mobility, base regression isn't enough and the game is “probably already over.”

I showed matches, both mine and from the community, where killers with no regression perks and low mobility, still perform well. That directly contradicts what you said.

Now you're shifting the focus to things like bloodpoint totals and hypothetical tunneling, instead of engaging with the core argument.

And if you want to pivot to tunneling go look at the matches I provided you, some have tunneling some dont. So you arent even right there anyways.

You're making a general claim that base regression isn't enough without Pain Res or mobility, that has already been disproven, multiple times now.

I think the better counter to anything I have said. Is real world examples from your direction as you actually havent provided anything to back up what you say. Whereas I have.

    Trapper and Skull Merchant.

I don't think that's a particularly shocking answer, haha. I think most people are on board for those being the weakest two in the game.

Both have something going for them - Trapper has snowball and some nasty addons, Merchant still has pretty solid stealth to lean into - but they're just operating on such a lower power level than everyone else.

    Id agree with this.

id throw in pig solely to actually give her m2 a bit more of a hit. Only slightly buff it, just slightly, as they didnt do enough last time. Grease is basically required in your matches if you want that thing to hit anyone.

I would've said Sadako as well, but I think their map design philosophy and changes have all but eliminated that idea.

And since the pictures are taken from some kind of video/stream, it wouldn't hurt to share with us the actual video to know if the start was as bad as I was talking about, or if those survivors that don't even reach 10K BP were tunneled. I can go trough long streaks even perkless, but that's not what I was talking about.

You don't need to hold the killer for two minutes, because the killer will have to go and kick a gen for a measly 5% regression that will be reset in a matter of seconds. You can't prevent them from eventually being completed, since the time you spend traversing the map is greater than the regression you can apply.

It happens more than it should and in many occasions it is not even intentional. This leads to matches in which you escape against killers who most likely would have destroy you in a direct confrontation, but you go like "Well, that was an easy match", when it was just an unfavorable start.

I just said not to move goal posts and here we are.

    You initially say:

If you don't have Pain Resonance or a killer with high mobility, that game is problably already over. Those saying that base regression is enough, I would like to see is this situations, turning their words into evidence.

I show you several screen shots, of not having any regression perks, on one of the weakest killers in the game. And getting 3 and 4ks.

On my pig which is barely setup.

This directly addresses your point. And counters what you have said.

    You are now pivoting to:
"well I need to see the match now"

If you want detailed videos of killers using 0 regression perks and doing fine that have reduced movement. Google is your friend and so is youtube/twitch.

Here, heres several links that took no time to search up:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szij0Xe7RQw
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdqRbZitgnc (8:15)
A lot more from D3AD he does this all the time. Hours of this stuff he does live as well.

    Otz vods from yesterday:
    https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2454336667
Several matches with no regress, low movement, even a pig match with no regress as well. In just one vod.

So still disproven. Dont move goal posts x2

For Wesker that depends on the survivor'shealth state. Wesker can pull a bound on an injured survivor who's trying to buy time for their team. The exit is blocked on a successful bound, and he'll automatically pick up the injured survivor. So for him, it depends on the health state of the survivor.

Thats not what we are talking about though. If you m2 of course you get the down with another m2 on an injure.

This is how deathslinger would work, not some basekit power of blood warden. Thats just a misplay on the injured survivors part at the exit gates.

The wall activates so he can slam you onto something.

Pinhead, Twins, and Houndmaster all can, but they aren't mobility killers.

I agree that Ghoul definitely shouldn't get the same treatment neither should Wesker.

    Pin head cant do this.

Twins you would be putting yourself in the exit gates with victor for no reason? This is how pigs trap works. And charlotte would have to be insanely close before you remove him, this is two conditions already that is just not what we are talking about. And not a very probably situation. It may happen sure but this sounds like someone went to the exit gates, didnt know victor did that, tbagged with him on their head, and then couldnt leave on an m1 down.

This is what noobs do against twins on hatches, tbag with victor on their head, only to discover they cant do anything.

Houndmaster again I have to test I have never seen it. And from the forum conversation here it is sounding like that probably is not the case.

Edit: I see what you are trying to talk about and we are talking about 2 different things. Someone injured and sitting at the gates versus someone healthy.

    1. Weskers behaves exactly the same way. Cd is longer than the m1 after
    2. Why would you go into the exit gates with victor on your head? This would be like going in there with pigs activated trap.
    3. Pinhead sadly cannot do this.

So no none of these are similar/even do that

Id have to test houndmaster though as I have never seen it happen, im guessing it behaves just like wesker though.

The reason the border at the end shows up for wesker is so he has something to slam you on and not bug out, probably the same story for the dog.

Several other killers have it. Arguably, every killer should to discourage toxicity in the gate

what killer has basekit exit block and gets a pick up?

1 … 3 4 5 6 7 … 21
