The easiest example of a moving goalpost is Nurse. Ppl claimed that as soon as those extra blinks were removed shed be fine since it would just leave the skilled players who didnt need a crutch... then it was the range addons... then it was the cooldown... then it was that she could use basic attack perks. Even after all that, you STILL have ppl claiming BHVR doesnt nerf her. Every time they nerf an aspect that ppl claimed they'd be fine with her if she didnt have, they'd jump to wanting something else.
I dont think people claimed any of this was fine in this stepwise idea you have.
The reaction we have to when nurse gets changes are:
"good she needs less blinks"Not
"Good she needs less blink everything will be fine from now on"
Thats not something that happened.
And the less blinks thing happened…. jeez WAYY long ago in 2019.
The only thing that was ever talked about with nurse was "Im so sick of starstruck nurse"
Which was fixed when her blink attacks were made special and not basic.then it was the range addons... then it was the cooldown... then it was that she could use basic attack perks
Her cooldown never changed, or was talked about.
The other two you have listed here were done at the same time, where her blink attacks were made special and range addons completely removed.
More importantly though:
No meaningful or long discussions ever really seem to go anywhere with her for the most part. As that would be suggesting to nerf a specific killer and that is not something people like to discuss. I made a whole post on what needs to happen to her to bring her in line with restriction and it was met with vitriol and "shes fine" comments.
Or was met with "just remove aura read during her power" while I post, video proof by the way, of not needed aura read during power to show that wouldnt do anything. And the conversation went nowhere.
When people ask for changes or suggest them its usually not with the line "and all will be fine" attached to it. -

I try to play with the enjoyment of everyone involved. I'll give them a good match, but if there are any silly shennanigans going on, I'll run with it to give everyone a fun laugh - a break from the stress of typical gameplay.
Example from one of my matches (and yes I let them escape in the end):
fooling around with a ghost face that has a personality is always fun. WASSAAAAA!!

Obviously across every pvp game there will ALWAYS be griefers you cant always stop them.
If the game wants to continue going forward. They really have to add a replay system. This is what all the major pvp games have as a MASSIVE advantage over this game.
Dbd is currently like a … he said/she said sort of report system and then hope someone, at some point, has something to show. And if they dont then tough luck chuck.
Standardizing a replay system would be great for a bunch of reasons but it would make this less about statistics, numbers and what people say. To actual game footage of what happened. (Machine learning not the perk lol, can detect people that frequent stand still on purpose, or spam vault etc…)
I know its a lot of work but … this is honestly a point in this games development where it should already be a thing. Ignoring it for this long, especially with a growing player base, is only going to make this issue worse.
And this goes further than just player reporting as well. -

I'm sorry for calling a global survivor buff "Basekit <perk that gives the a stronger version of the same effect>". I didn't know that it irks you that much. I only call it that way for simplicity.
But it's in the game.
By the way, just out of curiosity… How do you call Basekit-BT? That also happens to be a global survivor buff that gives a lesser version of an existing perk to everyone.
Let me know if you need any more help with reassurance. There is a wiki that even shows what the perk does and its conditions to even activate.
Ill leave a link here:
https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Reassurance
There is however, currently no basekit reassurance in this game. Survivors hook states arent halted for 30 seconds or… halted any seconds for that matter in the game currently base kit.
If you need help with why base kit bt is called base kit bt, we can discuss that as well. Or what base kit refers to as it seems there is some confusion.
Hope this clears it up a bit! -

Pain res can be fixed in 14 seconds on the gen. Reassurance isnt that good but give it to solid sef and now each hook state can be 100 seconds which is huge.
I like how pain res is being critical of not mattering and having its time super analyzed here.
But its used in gameplay a lot. Most popular regression perk on killer side picked actually. The number one picked killer perk.
But then in the same sentence you dont be critical of the time that reassurance or a hook state will last.
And its a perk that is almost never taken. Probably one of the least picked perks in the game. Not even the top 50 survivor picked perks.
You arent getting "100 seconds" on a hook much less the extra 30 that is even provided from reassurance users in 99.9999% of cases. Youll be lucky to even have people reach half their hook timer in normal play WITHOUT reassurance.@Evan_ said:

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3965134#Comment_3965134
Yes. Basekit Reassurance stacks with actual Reassurance, the same way Basekit-BT stacks with actual BT.
Survivors have this effect since 8.2.0, when the hook timer was increased by 10 seconds each. It's indeed not entirely analogue, as the Basekit version doesn't need to be activated by someone else - we just have it by default. Usually that's what we call "basekit".
Thats not basekit reassurance. And there is no such thing on survivor currently in the game.

All I'm going to say is that I didn't cherry pick swf, I was saying that even with god meta, god validation DH in a 4 man swf survivors were still sub 50%. That's why it doesn't matter, 4 survivors on the same teamare rarely try harding. The chance people are try harding goes down as you move from 4 man to full solo queue.
Blight was busted and is still really strong, but he has the highest pick rate he's had at the least strong he's ever been. nurse has always been busted but the play rate has never been high. The point is, even when survivors was hit the balance of extremely strong and having players who give a damn and who actually are trying to win to a high degree, they still still threw, played for giggles and gave up. I can read win rates in Lol so easily, but kill rates mean nothing in this game. No matter what people are trying in league or cs or siege but in dbd 1 person in a 4 man will be trolling or they all will be, double-so for solo queue. The kate hasn't touched a gen all game and is trailing the killer with a flash light, could be a 4 man, could be solo queue but it's all too common. In a game like dbd, the 1 in the "1v4" is most likely to actually play for themselves. They are playing to win, there is no altruism. Maybe 1/10th of games a killer will troll, maybe 1 out of two games A survivor will troll in someway.
I am largely focused on perks because the buffs are to killers that are bad to mid and even then they seem to be nerfing them half the time. There has been no base-kit buffs after 6.1.0 that why I am so obviously focused on perks. They only nerfed Blight, Nurse and Wesker. Until now with P-head none of the top tier killer have been buffed. Buffing demo doesn't make "KIller" stronger. That's like saying buffing red harring to c tier is a survivor buff.
Freddy being the most deadly killer in the game only backs up what I am saying about kill rates, EVERYONE knows he's not strong. Actually feeding into him being strong means you think a beyond whatever killer is worth anything strength wise. Do you really think freddy is stronger than nurse, blight, artist and P-head? You'd have to be essentially a silver player to actually agree with that statement.
The thing about nurse "nerfs" can kind of be applied to what you said about demo. All that was "nerfed" was her attacking being made a special attack after a blink, and her addons for range being toned down.
"Thats like saying buffing red harring to c tier is a survivor buff"Can kind of be applied in her case. She really didnt get any level of nerfs that did anything in the end.
Same can be said for blight honestly. He has not really moved from the number 2 position in any meaningful way, other than the fact the devs released broken Kaneki. Knocking him down a rung to 3.
I would say kill rates mean … something in the game not nothing. They are definitely tainted by what you talk about though. Give ups/throws/odd plays/just learning counter on a new released killer
By an large though I think they do, on average, show the strength of killers across the entire community.Freddy being the most deadly killer in the game only backs up what I am saying about kill rates, EVERYONE knows he's not strong.
I disagree though.
Freddy, is a pretty strong killer all things considered. He has traversal, great chase potential. Everything a killer would need. I think hes an all round great killer.
Just mechanically disappointing for some @GeneralV sorry you dont like what they did to him 😥
And a perfect balance of give and take. He has a teleport/traversal, but cant spam it and it has a good reactionary tell. He has undetectable but a lullaby. He has a slow with ample time to react but also strong enough when it hits to deny loops. He also has the pallet blower upper thing, which I havent seen land in any of my games. And lastly a mechanic for survivors to interact with to counter some of his kit (clocks)
TOP MMR kill rate shown to us being equal with blight does make me throw a bit of question marks. But I think that may just be me being incorrect on killer skill at that level. I do think blight has an extremely low skill floor when compared to freddy. Yet they are equal in kill rates. But nurse has the highest skill floor of them all and its not like we see her kill rate silly low, its actually only 2% lower at 67%.
Devs need to take note of freddy when comming out with killers that have all this traversal, or undetectable, or both. And model them around what freddy does. He has meaningful cooldown and counterplay. Instead of just "getting everything". And still strong in the end.
I think freddy might have a bit of "he was just reworked so people are figuring out how to play against" influencing that high kill rate.
Though nightlight today still has him at number 1. -

While I agree in theory (and admit i probably should tone it back a bit, as some of my recent jokes have been a little more mean-spirited than i usually try to be), in practice this becomes extremely hard to enforce. Where is the line between "us-vs-them complaining" and "rightfully pointing out an issue that benefits one side to the detriment of fun overall"? Will people feel afraid to express their legitimate opinions for fear of running afoul of the rules?
If we do look at banning us-vs-them, we should tread lightly with how we do it
I think the thing to look out for and mods did it already is when someone goes "well you're just a x main" or "only BHVR caters to x mains"
Attempting to like dismiss what someone says
Thank you by the way moderation for stepping up on something like that.
People go around this by saying subtle things like "link your stats" or "you're showing your bias a bit" or "you must not play x side" or "I dont wanna say you are x but (immediately goes into saying what they dont want to say)"
In the end we will never escape it though, one day you'll be called a survivor main for defending the … misery incarnate endless suffering… state of soloQ 😥
The next youll be called a killer main for wanting something like Badham school looked at for a bit more balance towards killer.
Id like to think most players dabble a bit on both sides? Maybe?
Maybe im out of touch and people are extremely tribal.
You cant win! In the end we all just get left to bleed out 😥x2

Did I miss a change when they reworked Reassurance to do something else than extending the time it takes to advance a hook state?
Or do you also have another name for Basekit-BT? After all it's only 10 seconds - the actual perk gave 12 back in the day.So reassurance is a perk that you use on someone else, at any time you decide, by getting within 6m of the hook, to give them 30 extra seconds on their hook stage.
Survivors dont have this as base-kit. -

I agree if we just nerfed every killer who has good map pressure then every killer will be generally the same. I think survivors only want killers who are easy to counter like Trapper and Skull Marchant.
Honestly its more frustrating to go against survivors who want every second chance perk and gut every new killer so they don't have to change there strategies. Yes I've had a survivor say this to me saying that every killer should be the exact same and survivors should be stronger than killer 100%. If we prevented people from playing killers they want then we won't have any killers playing. That goes for survivor as well that if we prevented Survivors from playing how we want then we won't have any survivors playing. We should let players play with who and how they want even if it's annoying because it creates verify that the game needs.

The reason I ask is because of the things I listed in comparing to legion. I genuinely want to know how we are taking what legion can do and what kaneki can do and then using them almost interchangably in conversation.
here they are again: -
If people want to draw parallels between killers especially what Kaneki does
This is what it is like.
This is 1:1 how a nurse plays and moves. There is absolutely 0% in here how a legion plays at all.
Missed my first blink? Ah who cares I have a correction blink, and I move at full killer base speed and get 3 charges after I hit you. So I get bookmark for no effort is this fun? -

people are mad that it feels cheap to lose a healthy state and i feel that too, the first hit is so dumbly free. But if you really look into it he is just a better legion since after the first hit he is m1…
Another thing is people dont like rush chars that can apply pressure and he can travel fast in the map, the hate is that and the players will grow up to accept it, changing ghoul is basically merchant 2
Hes a better legion?
Do you play legion? I do just for context.
Their powers, their mobility, how they have to play around pallets/loops, their map pressure, their speed…, their counterplay isnt the same (kaneki doesnt really have one, at least you can block the next feral)
You cant even risk feral frenzy on a stun like you can with Kaneki's power. You dont care if you miss with his power. Funny enough you miss with his power behind terain and you get the hit anyways. You cant even make it to the next loop WITH SB, Overcome, Lithe against Kaneki.
You 100% can for legion.
Nothing between kaneki and legion are even alike.
Finding the mend part between the two and then saying "better legion" is just not a correct thing to say. -

The time of a hook-state was changed to 70 seconds from 60 in Patch 8.2.0
What?
Edit: Oh they are trying to say these two things are equal.
Yea thats not how reassurance works. -
I think people who would possibly use it would just use head on anyways. Group play people
And you can use headon multiple times in a match.
Trying to use a one time use odd killer stun perk seems a bit wasteful of a perk. Its only gonna work for one play and if you screw it up, you wasted a perk slot. Or the person you are trying to save, wasted it.
Feel like the reaction to this perk is pretty similar to shoulder. And turned out shoulder isnt even popular or used for the exact same reason. -
Ill never understand using "basekit BT" as some sort of way to say "see survivors are just getting taken care of" or using it in a list of "buffs" they have got over the years.
People need to be reminded that without this feature in game. The killer would just wait at the hook to knock you IMMEDIATELY back down and you had nothing you could do about it.
Requiring a teammate to have borrowed time so this didnt happen was a nightmare to witness.
Basekit reassurance sounds fun though. Im not sure when that happened.
Even though you rarely get value out of it in soloQ id welcome it. Always love the becca thumb up -
Climbing on survivor is already painful enough this change is asking for a blanket punishment for the survivor side of the game. I dont wanna have MMR reset for that side
-
There is definitely a "its ghoul" with an audible breathe in and breathe out when you load into these matches… almost as if you know how the match is already going to go.
All for you to go against this s tier killer and they end up just camping the hook in the end and tunneling someone out.
Uh…. why is it like this? Make it stop.
I had a P100 9k hour double iri blight match last night, and THAT wasnt that bad compared to these Kaneki matches.
Ill take this over a kaneki match, thats where we are at with this Kaneki killer…Shoutout to this blight they didnt tunnel or camp and they still brought the heat.

I have a few of those moments I can think of.
Had a Steve who, even though it'd make more sense to have just left since it was the Endgame and I was being camped on hook, this madman came over and not only saved my life, but managed to loop the Killer in the process, too. Frankly, I wish I remembered that Steve's name, cause that was the coolest player I've seen.
Had another match where a Renato was doing his best, keeping the Killer, a Nemesis, distracted all game so we managed to do all the gens worry free. Unfortunately, still had a Dwight who chose to lead the Killer over to the Exit Gate as I was only halfway to opening it, which got me killed in the process (the Dwight died too, so karma), but that doesn't negate how decent that Renato was.
And one more, while I was the Killer in this match, I have to give a shout-out to, wherever this person is, a Mikaela who managed to not only save the Feng I had hooked, but then looped my butt like I was a novice for a good 10 minutes. I got her in the end, sure, but that hero play got them two gens done when I had only hooked two people.
Love survivor soloQ's that stick around. Through and through they got our backs!
Its good to recognize sick plays by our opponents as well, I think thats important -

While true it would give a bit more perspective to things. If you're only playing Blight then obviously it won't feel harder. If you're only playing Trapper that would definitely suggest nothing has changed.
Play a good mix usually bouncing between Legion, Artist, Plague those would probably be the big 3 for me at least.
Recently, el pigo a bit more. 🐽Trying different things with speed/undetectable for the less movement inclined killers. Wanan get out of the bamboozle/superior combo and try something different. Trying at least. So far so good? I think? Winning but its close on some of these matches for sure

Past tense. Happened. Are you are claiming that the abandon changes didn't address this for survivors even slightly
I'm just going to point out that the abandon feature with regard to slugging is only in one, very specific scenario where all survivors are slugged or dead.
The abandon feature is not available in what is probably the most common form of slugging, which is slugging for the 4k, because one survivor is still standing. And that's just one common example.
So does the abandon feature address the concern "even slightly"? Yes, in very specific circumstances (which are, coincidentally, basically within the killers control).
Does this still happen, present tense? Absolutely.

Dont quote me if you dont want a chance for me to respond. You quoted me several times, I responded.
Quoting someone in conversation and then going "dont respond to me" is talking at someone and then plugging your ears and closing your eyes.

Disagreeing =/= and telling someone not to respond
Former is what I did, give my opinion. The second is what you did … by telling me not to respond to you.
If likes and dislikes are what you value so much over actual discussion you are sort of highlighting the problem. Thats not how you justify saying things to others on the forums. Or view points for that matter.
My second quote you have there is me questioning why that person wants a give up button to devalue gameplay I highlighted in my response.Maybe I just don't want to engage with you, especially since you don't seem to understand any perspective than your own.. If this is the case than its not necessary to respond to someone at all. And "you dont see anyone else's perspective than your own" is a very odd way to antagonise others in conversation.

Making a comeback in those circumstances relies entirely on the survivor making mistakes that can be capitalized on. Stuff like your going back for a save isn't the issue, that kind of stuff is completely fine. The issue is that survivors can nope out too fast because they were trying to address the proper reason for implementing the mechanic (4 man slugs) but also threw in almost no restrictions, nor considerations for things that could turn the game around in that state. You know, as a treat.
So one side can leave the moment they are in a check (not even a checkmate) while the other side can't even leave while in a checkmate until after they partake in "The Ritual" or they just wait out the 2-4 minute timer. One side is shielded from BM by the devs, the other isn't. You can come up with whatever what ifs to pidgeonhole the argument, but the design consideration focus is literally not even. And if your opinion is that them being uneven is fine for whatever reason you come up with, that doesn't change the fact it is not equitable nor does it address anyone who has an issue with that specifically. You're welcome to that opinion, but it should be pretty understandable why others would take issue with it.
But even if it was 1%, I can think of lots of scenarios in the game where there is 99% chance the game is lost.Reminder that survivors can still bring offerings and perks which not only can re-enable the ability to 4%, but can even guarantee it under the right circumstances. Or just pick themselves up. They not only have more than a 1% chance of getting back in the game, but can even lead to a full reset. Especially if they're the last survivor and it gives them a chance at hatch/gates in egc. The problem is that a lot of that chance is not basekit, so the survivors are required to invest at least something into their ability to reset a lost game, and that's simply too much to ask. Why even run those perks or bring those offerings when you can just wait for a chance to nope out the second it looks too grim? You wont win, but you will almost never be stuck in a losing match for longer than it takes to either die, or your team to wipe, whichever comes first. There is just no consistency in design, and it feels like people use the asymmetrical nature as an excuse instead of finding a middle ground that actually fixes the issue for both sides.
To be honest, the only reason I even responded, even knowing we probably won't see eye to eye on this, is because you tend to focus on logical consistency. The vast majority of stuff from people like the other guy always centers around wanting something while not wanting others to have it, instead of actual consistency in design. Whether it be disregarding comeback potential specifically for one side, only respecting the time of specifically one side, disabling the ability to BM from an advantageous position VERY specifically for one side, or simply just allowing specifically one side to be allowed to completely ignore taking perks that were designed to give you a chance in a game losing situation to stage a comeback. Its not about what they implemented, it will always be about how.
Also all the dishonest ones are free to downvote this into oblivion. Its not the OP, so it won't bury the topic.
You wont win, but you will almost never be stuck in a losing match for longer than it takes to either die,
You actually will and it actually happened often enough that the developers had to step in and do something about it.
Its why the system is in place to begin with. Matches were being stalled for entire bleedouts.
And it was actually longer than bleedouts. People with high tier killers that KNEW they could down someone repeatedly whenver they wanted, would pick them up and fake chase them to slug and BM them more.
Its a case of give someone the ability to do it and they will abuse it. And destroys gameplay in the process.
Has nothing to do with "being even" or comming at this "from both sides"
Its why giving up on hook was removed. -

One minute is enough for those last minute clutch plays.
One minute is enough to do most things.
I think you maybe just enjoy the idea of pushing Survs out, and that's fine. Some Killer players don't. Adding an abandon feature that is optional for this situation does nothing to your enjoyment and enhances theirs.
It shouldn't be built around it, but now it is, this is where we are now. Because of that regardless of your feelings, it is fair to allow other reasons for Killers to concede. Forfeits will always be a thing, and always okay, in gaming regardless of how you and others feel about it or not.
I think you want to argue. I am not interested. You won't convince me.
Game needs an option for Killers to abandon if Survivors are trying to irritate them on purpose. Period. I don't care who thinks otherwise.
I don’t know if that kind of response was really warranted? What’s going on here?
I’m not saying healing itself takes over a minute. It can I guess… take longer depending on the situation? If you just took a hit through sloppy, if everyone’s trying to rally a teamplay in soloQ, or if you’re scrambling to communicate with nothing but our two most epic emotes of the century to make a play.
The chaos is half the fun. Maybe someone has to go cleanse NOED or find it. Maybe someone sets up a babysitter play or a reassurance. Maybe someone just blind rushes a save and we all yell and laugh when it falls apart including the killer. That can easily stretch past 60 seconds, and it’s often the best part of the match.
Some of my favorite games ended with the EGC timer blinking red while we failed or half-succeeded to make some silly play that WOULD NEVER work. Even when some of us died, it was still meaningful because everyone saw it through the end. Killer included.
Giving the killer a “nope, I think I lost” button would rip that away.I honestly don’t understand how someone can have played thousands of matches and not see this as a core part of DBD. Wanting to skip this phase because it’s uncomfortable or uncertain is exactly how giving up on hook started, and it would be used the same way all over again.

That's why I think one minute is fine. Even when we have a situation with a slug on the ground and a person on hook, Mori and abandon can happen. The Survivor doesn't have to stay in it, neither do, so the abandon option's present. That's less than about a minute.
In my experience, the only reason Survivors ever sit in the gates for longer than a minute is to force the Killer to watch them leave. It doesn't take a minute to heal in the gates, set up to run in and go save, or do any sort of waiting to see if your friend is coming. You only sit in the gates as Survivor for longer than one minute to try and make the Killer force you out, or to make them watch you leave. That's ALWAYS been how it is in the thousands of rounds I've played since 2017.
It doesn't take a minute to heal in the gates, set up to run in and go save, or do any sort of waiting to see if your friend is coming.
It absolutely does take time. The EGC timer is 2 minutes by default, and it ticks down half that time when someone is hooked or downed, meaning matches can last up to 4 minutes after the gates are opened. I’ve played plenty of matches where the timer’s on its final seconds because of multiple hook trades, close chases, clenching our cheeks trying to get a bigger save.
Failing miserably or succeeding. Those last-minute saves, panic body blocks, and “barely made it out” moments are some of the most intense and rewarding parts of the game. Letting the killer just hit a “quit” button because they don’t feel like it anymore robs us of that payoff and reduces the endgame to nothing.
Imagine motorsport: the person in 2nd place decides to just end the entire race for everyone because they don’t feel like chasing 1st place anymore. That’s poor sportsmanship.
That’s what hookacides were: a refusal to see the match through because it wasn’t going your way.
This isn't the same as slugging. Slugging is like having your car taken from you while your opponent drives donuts around you and FaceTimes your loss. One is giving up on a match and not seeing things through to the end. The other is being denied the chance to compete.
And that's the core difference: quitting is a choice, but it shouldn't be something the game builds around. Gameplay comes first. And with slugging there was no gameplay.
The endgame collapse there is plenty of gameplay still. And its more than 60 second timer -

Here's the big question nobody is asking: Who would it be hurting to simply let this be a thing? And I have never gotten a good answer for it.
Survivors? Well, no. They're getting the win regardless. They can always get their exit gate thing against someone who wants to play to the end if they so choose, or those challenges could simply be removed.
Killers? Well, no. They're getting to leave if they feel the other side is being a sore winner and will simply not take their W without trying to humiliate them or get their attention and push them out. And if you don't wanna do it, you don't have to do it. It's optional, like the abandon for Survivors is optional. You don't like it? Don't use it.
The experience? Well, no. Game's over, experience is over, what more fun is there to have? There's already an unspoken rule to not go to the gates in the Killer community for a reason - the experience isn't good. Chasing people out doesn't necessarily feel good to do just because you can do it.
The fact is many Killers simply do not want to go to the gates for the same reason many Survivors don't want to wait on the ground in a slug for a 4k. It's boring. Having to force Survs out is boring. It may not be the same exact thing or same exact line, but it's a boring bit of formality when you know you're not going to succeed, in both cases the game is OVER for the side who is in the situation outlined - Survs running out the gate, Killer hunting the last friend while you're on the ground. In both cases it's needless extra time wasted. That's why people want abandon when everyone's in the gate so badly, because people want to move on to the next round without having to waste time when they're just going to leave anyway.
Look, it's like this - it's just not likely unless you run certain perks or certain Killers you're going to catch anyone at the gate. It's more likely you will lose them. It's also really boring to have to run around spamming your power or breaking pallets because Survivors choose to wait until the last second to leave. For a large number of Killer players, once the Survs are in the gates it's basically over, they're gonna leave, unless you have some sort of weird clutch endgame play that happens once in a blue moon ready.
So, this being a thing - allowing abandon after a minute or so of the gates being open, let's say - doesn't harm Survs, doesn't harm Killers, and doesn't harm the experience. So I ask again, to the people who for some baffling reason do not want the ability for those who want it to choose to forfeit when a game feels lost, who would it be hurting to simply let this be a thing?
So, this being a thing - allowing abandon after a minute or so of the gates being open, let's say - doesn't harm Survs, doesn't harm Killers, and doesn't harm the experience.
As long as there is a hook/down condition to the timer sure. Like if someone is on the hook or downed and the gates are opened, there is no timer. If someone is rehooked or downed the timer resets.
Timer only ticks down if noone is hooked/down
Sounds good to me. Doesnt devalue endgame play -

It's weird how it's so controversial. If the gates are opened and survivors are at them, I think it should be grounds for an abandon because outside of sheer stupidity it's basically a lost match. Just like how all survivor's being incapcitated is basically a lost match for them, why people are so insistant on allowing one but not the other I'll never understand.
Its just missing the bigger picture of it is all. Its not a lost match
Its basically suggesting for someone to body block an iri hatchet huntress thats tunneling, and then expecting her to hook you instead of just slug you and continue on with her tunnel.
You gotta think more macro about the match than just micro plays like an exit gate being powered. Or taking a hit against an insta down killer that is hardcore tunneling.
Theres more to the match than just "the exit gates are powered the match is over" and "you should throw yourself at the killer and expect her to hook you"
It would have been a massive mistake to attempt body blocking the huntress in my scenario as it would just add to her kill count. And then probably result in a 4k in the end. Gotta think more macro than just whats directly on the cards in the moment. -

Okay well I disagree that the survivors in this game are "bad" or "low MMR" or "######" and the gameplay seems to agree with it.
The way you describe these survivors and the fact that 1 generator was remaining, 4 people were alive, and only 3 hook stages from the killer are not consistent.
These were pretty decent opponents in a otherwise great match -

well you just play nurse, of course its easy
Well, you assumed wrong, because I don't consider killers to be harder at this moment at least.
Funny you try to show off with match history, then don't even want to say the killers you played it with :D
I am Legion and Oni main, games were pretty much same to me. Oni is going to become harder in next patch tho, but not at the moment.Well, you assumed wrong, because I don't consider killers to be harder at this moment at least.

I told you , cause after wasting way too much time to pop the first gen, they finally started applying pressure. too little too late. and still they were sipping that cool aid like lean addicts.
4 may have been alive but those gens popped way too late so clearly they weren't getting out alive. which they certainly could have had at least 2 out if they were on the gens early and could hold chase 30 sec (which would be far easier without the excessive cool aid consumption)
Thats not consistent.
If survivors are "bad" then they dont get to 1 gen with 4 alive and 3 hookstages.
I would think if survivors are "bad" or "low mmr" or whatever you typed about them. They wouldnt even get half the game done, let alone 4 gens. -

I even watched half of it a second time. Take off 1 min 45 sec cause the beginning was in lobby, still they took 5 min 20 sec to do first gen. Terrible.
gen is 90 sec and there's 4 of them. if they were any good they'd have 2 gens pop shortly after your first hook and if they knew how to loop 2 gens done before your first hook.
even if they're "stealthy" they shouldn't waste more than 30 seconds before holding M1. then if 1 gets chased, you have 3 players doing separate gens and they can be sick because you can only chase 1 at a time. so at least two gens shoulda popped by the 3 minute mark and that's very generous.
but instead, they cleansed 4 times at 5 gens and got hooked at least twice during that time. the only chases you didn't drop lasted 10 seconds before the down. in 90 percent of matches that's gg already against any killer.
they finished the gens cause they finally realized they need to hold M1 to escape. but too little too late and they didn't have talented enough runners to turn it around especially with vile...corrupt purge in every chase. it doesn't matter if you power the exit gates that late you've still lost and lucky to get 1 out.
now I was not saying you didn't play "macro". but 4 competent survivors would have at least 2 out in that match.
You still havent answered though.
Why is there 1 gen to go and only 3 hooks, 4 alive, if the survivors are "so bad" or "low MMR" or "#######" ? -

This is the first time that Huntress has seen you all match, isn't it? Prior to saving Jill, you had maybe 1500 points in Boldness, and about 3000 points in Altruism. I'm guessing you spent the majority of the match hiding.
Also, Nancy wasn't tunneled. She gave up. Probably got hit early with an Iri hatchet and called it quits. Because you literally earn more points from losing 10 second chases and hitting Wriggle/Struggle checks. Laurie MAY have been tunneled, I guess. Though 15000 points is a little much for someone who was hard tunneled after someone else gave up.
Finally, you only got out thanks to a bug. That hatchet clearly hit you right in shoulder, but the hit registered against Jill, because for some reason the game has been prioritizing hooked survivors over actual targets lately.
So… no. I don't think you "earned" any tbags here. You spent the entire match hiding, let your teammates get "tunneled" without taking aggro or protection hits, and only escaped thanks to a bug. But even if the Huntress did "deserve" bags here, does that mean that any time a survivor does something I don't like I can bleed them out? Kill two survivors, then let the flashlight user bleed out for four minutes while their last teammate tries to finish gens? Or is it only okay when Survivors do it?
This is the first time that Huntress has seen you all match, isn't it?
First? no
She was tunneling though on each target. Thats not my problem if she wants to focus on ONE person and then do the same thing on repeat.
Nancy did not give up though, she was tunneled immediately off her hook. Unfortunately I dont have the entire match to post I didnt have OBS going just the usual 30 second clip capture at the moment.
Laurie was always there for the save is probably why she has so many points.
Plus one of the gens she worked was part of the reason we got out. I found one at like 50-60% so the 3 gens I had to do while jill chased was more like 2.5.Finally, you only got out thanks to a bug. That hatchet clearly hit you right in shoulder, but the hit registered against Jill, because for some reason the game has been prioritizing hooked survivors over actual targets lately.
No she clearly hit Laurie there was no hit on me. She was not even close to the side of hitting me. It was pretty clear it went right at the jill. You have to be on the side to get a hit with how large huntress hatchet hit boxes are. Everyone who plays huntress knows how large the hit box is on hatchets. Thats not a bug, thats the huntress not taking the extra half second and messing up.So… no. I don't think you "earned" any tbags here. You spent the entire match hiding,
You need to apply your point logic in the other direction. If that was the case I would have not been ahead of points on Jill.
So no you are flat out wrong here. I saved multiple times its just you cant body block a iri hatchet huntress. You can trade sure. But laurie gave me no opportunity for that. And a 3v1 you really have to sit on gens, not recklessly go feed extra hooks.
Definetely didnt hide though, otherwise I wouldnt be top score. You dont top score by being a gen jockey and hide all match. Thats not how that works. -

Yeah but just because all the survivors are slugged doesnt mean the games over for them. See where I'm getting at? You can still try to play the game but survivor just give up because they don't want to try. But if god forbid a killer wants to abandon once the gates are open is suddenly seen as a taboo.
The abandon feature was good at the start but then people started developing double standards. It does though.
The only time it is not is unbreakable.
Game design isnt designed around "what if" perks. Its designed around game play.
Otherwise we would still have no basekit BT and require someone to bring borrowed time so the killer couldnt immediately down someone after an unhook. -

I just gave an explanation of all the mistakes they made. They did the gens but way too late once you had too much vile purge and their teammate dead. Most matches are completely over within 7-12 minutes and they only finished the first gen after that. If you don't see the issue there I can't help you. A competent team would have the gates open with all 4 alive if they played well. I watched that match start to finish out of curiosity and i was just cringing the whole time. No individual running skill and terrible strats from those survivors. A lesson on how to lose vs plague. And the results do t lie. if they played so well they'd have at least 2 out.
Again its corrupt purge. Not vile.
Stop assuming others skill level at the game -

So then please tell me. Survivor dont have to suffer a humiliating defeat by having the abandon feature but killer should suffer it? Both cases either side can come back but one gets the abandon feature. So should the killer just suffer by either wasting their time not going to the gates or go to the gates and have their loss rubbed in their face? It quite literally is becoming a double standard.

Okay dude you are correlating two things that have nothing in common.

I wasn't criticizing you about the afk, but afk by itself basically guarantees a loss for survivor.
The pros miss skill checks too but they missed more than one before the first gen popped and that's embarrassing. Streamers aren't inherently better than me, just known cause they're extraverted. I mostly hit great skill checks and rarely miss altogether.
Dude...1 gen in over 7 min at 4 survivors. I don't care what killer you're facing there's no excusing that. It's a guaranteed loss. You have to get sick against plague and gen rush cause she can't guard every gen simultaneously and she's weak in chase without vile purge.
only drink cool aid in corners of the map with finished gens that force the killer to travel far distance to a useless position. if you are scared of vomit the whole match and especially the beginning you guarantee a 4k for plague. especially early game there's no reason to heal that much and be scared to do gens just cause of some green goo. competent survivors do the gens regardless and drink cool aid late game or for hook saves against a camper. it's because of the healing meta too many survivors don't know how to play injured. I do all the time cause resilience is boss, I get so much value vs plague. they need to split up and allow themselves to get sick to complete gens and limit vile purge stacks especially early on.
those survivors couldn't loop for ######### lmao...sub 10 second chases every time. part of the issue was the vile purge but all they did was run to a tile and get downed every time. the reason you had vile purge the whole time is cause they were way too immersed and spending all their time drinking cool aid and hiding afraid of green goo and taking turns getting hooked.
those survivors are low MMR and or throwing on purpose. my teammates are often bad but not that bad. if survivors took your advice and played like these guys you will 4k every match with plague. so never blindly trust a killer mains advice on how to play survivor.
Dude...1 gen in over 7 min at 4 survivors. I don't care what killer you're facing there's no excusing that. It's a guaranteed loss. You have to get sick against plague and gen rush cause she can't guard every gen simultaneously and she's weak in chase without vile purge.
Assuming peoples MMR is such a tried and weak argument. Thats not the only way to play this game dude. You need to calm down when addressing others you dont even know or know anything about.
Why dont you post something tangible rather than dismissing something that doesnt align with your beliefs calling "them bad" or whatever massive ###### you typed towards others.
You have managed not to really say anything but "oh they are bad it was a guarenteed win"
If we follow your logic:
1 gen remaining all 4 alive.
If they were so "bad" why is this situation true?

The abandon feature was added because it was most likely over for that side. When gates are opened and you know you had a bad game then I don't see any reasonable argument why the killer should not be able to abandon besides being petty.
Thats not why the abandon feature was added.
The abandon feature was added because survivors have lost all basic control over their gameplay. They cant progress generators, cant open a gate, cant save one another, cant pick themselves back up, and are restricted to crawling around waiting for someone but noone can save them.
IThere is no Likely argument here. Its over. Real gameplay has halted.
Incomparably, the exit gates being powered. You still have full control over your character, you dont know where survivors are, you and them can STILL make mistakes.
Real gameplay still exists. You just dont feel like playing it.
You dont get to give up during a match because you feel like something is over.
If you do want to compare something to that logic, okay
Thats the exact same logic that was used by every survivor giving up on hook. "The match is likely over"
You want that back?
So no a 4 slug and the gates being powered are not the same.
