He is playable at high MMR. Every killer is. Keep pretending otherwise won't turn this falsehood into a truth.

Again, a significant amount of window vaults are either made or missed in that time frame. That's just the fact of the matter, and it's even more exaggerated when killer hit validation takes priority over survivor validation.
If 2% is not that much haste, then why was 3% for made for this such a big deal? If 2% haste is nothing, then surely 1% more at 3% is next to nothing, yet every killer main swears to the moon and back that the perk was busted. Which is it? Is it broken or is it no big deal?
Because Haste is by essence much stronger on the survivor role. Survivors lead the chase on a map while being 15% slower than killers. Them getting +3% mov speed has a considerably higher impact than the killer going from 125% to 127%.

that's a buff you almost never need purples right now, you get more speed from yellow than old hindered effect, basic math you get permanent 15+% haste of 115% speed which is more than bloodlust 3, vs old purple bottle 15% slow effect of 100% speed
Pretty sure that's not how his maths work and either way, quasipermanent BL3 Clown already was a thing in previous versions anyway. Hell, you could have 128% Clown along 16m wallhacks, even.

@OnryosTapeRentals said:
The detonation delay (if that’s the right term) is the only thing I have a particular problem with. Clown is never really going to be a killer I enjoy as either role, but he at least had some skill expression when you had to correctly time the yellow bottles.
Keep some of the minor buffs he got recently but revert that change ASAP.
Yellow bottle aside, he got almost nothing but nerfs though. The reload buffs aren't even close to make up for what they did to his purple bottles and his addons.

Play Wraith.

I don't understand why he can immediately m1 after jumping over pallets is this a bug ? legion and wesker can't attack 1 second after vaulting so you can loop a bit. Hitbox of the free injure need to be reduced it's more than half of the screen, it's impossible to miss hitbox is the size of a truck
It wasn't originally like this but bad players complained about it on PTB (although he already was S tier worthy killer on it) so they decided to significantly increase the vault speed for live release. Devs now are in "monitoring" mode.
-
I wonder if they just straight up forgot about it back then. Wouldn't surprise anyone.

I feel so bad for Otz. He puts so much time and dedication into the game, just to be completely ignored.
I also feel bad for Chandler. This was a disaster that could of easily been mitigated in multiple ways. He looked so bored halfway through like he could have been doing something better with his time.
Considering what most of his balance-related takes/suggestions are, it's probably for the best.
-
The big guy was running around literally every loop 15% faster and with wallhacks
You're literally describing Clown for the past 2 years, bud. His wallhacks were way stronger before, even. This addon is very bad now, in fact. I agree that this rework is disastrous and unneeded but most complainers really are clueless casual players, heh.
-
Just another proof that these devs live in a bubble.
-
I mean, they're being pretty silent about the poor reception of this update in general.
-
Because he was made with Switch players in mind. Not even memeing, he very clearly is tailored for casual controller users.

It actually does when you're buns with the character. I'm man enough to say I cannot use the character effectively, yet I get 3 - 4ks consistently. Can't do that on a weak Killer you're bad with.
You can, actually. The average DBD player is very casual. Even at "top" MMR.

Thank you. I knew there would be a simple explanation.
I didn't realize, thought they got rid of all self unhooking unless you have perks or AFC kicks in.
Looks like you also weren't aware about the luck offerings either.
-
They occasionally play between themselves on private servers. That's pretty much it. People loved to badmouth Almo's skill level but he at least regularly played public matches.
-
DBD 2.0 with a brand new code that will make the game bugproof for years to come and pave the way to brand new killer powers. Just kidding, it's just gonna be Jason and the same ole spaghetti code and conforming perk/killer designs.
-
Teleporting and coming out of lockers at Mach 3 is "useless", yes…
-
Cheaters are dealt with. They simply are like bacterias, always endlessly coming back no matter what.

As of otz he’s probably one of the more level headed content creators. I watched a guy who was spouting absolute nonsense about how he’s 90% plus kill rate on Vecna and then said nerf botany knowledge 💀
Let's not pretend that Otz doesn't frequently spout questionable takes.

Yellow activates 1s faster and increase haste 2% more and that's enough to become brain dead. Either nobody used yellow bottles till now or everyone is just upset about the purple.
Just upset about the purple, personally. But it indeed seems that a lot of people were not aware that yellow bottle Clown builds could almost wholly do what he currently does since about 2 years now (yet another reason why this nonsensical rework needs to go).
-
There's nothing in your picture proving anything about cheating.
-
I know some may disagree
That is an understatement.
-
I would revert Clown to his previous iteration. Simple as.
-
Every person has its own experience, knowledge and skill level. Even in fundamentally more competitive genres such as fighting games you'll sometimes encounter unexpected tier list opinions. Also keep in mind that there are 40 killers in the game now and that even (most) content creators don't regularly play all of them. I guarantee you that people putting Trickster in B/C aren't exactly the most seasoned Trickster players (you getting a 4k against casual players doesn't prove that the killer you're using is necessarily top tier either).

75% killrate is pretty banal in this game, trust me.

Still no shapeshift fix, holy moly,

"No one should've been told about the Killswitch".
I really hope they don't mean paying customers shouldn't be told the reason why their product suddenly isn't working anymore/accessible. Benefit of the doubt from me personally but holy moly.
Probably something said out of frustration though, I get it. Been there.
The fact that a person affiliated with the dev company would even say such thing for any reason at all is worrisome.
-
Surely it's not finished and they will expand it like what they ended up doing with Shelter Woods. R-right?
-
It works as well as it does in other games.
-
Fun fact; Clown got killswitched in 2022 because of a glitch allowing him to permanently have the yellow bottle effect.
-
Quasi-Nurse mobility on a killer tailored for 12 years old Switch users.
-
So what you mean is that they need to bring back Clown's previous iteration? I wholeheartedly agree.
-
Between what they did to Clown, what they were about to do to Knight and what they did to maps/keys you really have to unironically wonder if the folks at BHVR truly play/understand their own game.
-
@ThatRyanB said:
I appreciate the different perspectives in here! If you don't mind me interjecting to ask two questions (since I'd love to share this feedback with the team):
- What is one change that would increase your enjoyment of the Map item rework?
- What about for the Key item rework?
The chest-related addition to keys is good but ultimately pointless due to how weak chest-centric builds are. Also, the severe nerfs to charges and to Blood Amber make the item the weakest it's ever been. I see less reasons than ever to run keys.
-
He is one the "weaker" A tier killers, sure. Stop trying to rationalize this unneeded and unasked rework. Clown was pretty much perfect with his previous iteration.

Just faced my first haste buffed clown. I'd love to know how they ever thought any of this was a good idea. If I'm being generous, the idea must have been to give him more map mobility, I guess. But then being better than average in the 1 V 1 does offset that weakness somewhat, so all I can do is shrug and wonder what they were thinking.
He wasn't so bad to play against after they reduced the visual effects that made me queasy, but this new version of Clown has gone right back on my hate to play against list. I don't know if he's been buffed enough to really help him all that much against very skilled or gen focused Survivors (if that was the idea), but I do know he's an absolute nightmare for low MMR Survivors who already find him to be near impossible to loop. And of course they're all running at least a couple of haste perks as well. Easily the worst experience I've had since release Kaneki.
I really wish I could hear any explanations from BHVR designers about why Clown was deemed in need of a rework at all.
-
This game is still in beta after 9 years and will likely forever remain as such.

@R2k said:
I played on it and It's terrible. I don't use any shader shenanigans or any other exploits to get advantage and from killer side it's really difficult to see anything 15m away. It's feels like I'm pixel hunting.
It's my first map I instantly thought how unfair it is in comparison to those who use shaders.
Even with Reshade the map is a complete eyesore.

@R2k said:
I think it depends on when BHVR checks every killer winrate and how actually it affects gameplay. I would give it, unless it's a major issue, two weeks or something. But it's only guessing. I doubt anyone actually knows and Clown needed buff, so in one way or another it will be buffed
That's not how they work (thankfully).
-
Whoever was in charge of this (unneeded) rework needs to be transferred to another department. Respectfully.

so he currently better than before he got these changes?
im just asking because I remember seeing people say he got gutted into a bottom tier killerOnly people who don't play (or play well) Clown ever said that. The actual complains always were about his identity, playstyle and giga nerfs to purple bottles and related addons. And 3 weeks later, it is evident that they almost completely ignored the feedback they received. Me or several other Clown players warned on the day of PTB release that this rework would lead to him becoming a brainless Haste machine never bothering with purple bottles (which are what Clown is all about and should have stayed about) ever again and that's exactly what happened.
-
BHVR has been on a roll to remove as much skill expression and skill ceiling as possible from killers for the past 2 years.

Ok, it's your perception.
No offense but that's the perception of basically every single high level player. Sadako has always been a bottom 5 killer.
-
@Brix said:
run haste perks and addons, throw yellow bottle at feet and just run them over. thats new clown
It's not even new. You already could do it. Plenty of people did. It's just that we have no choice now due to how underwhelming purple bottles are.
-
The new quest system needed a tutorial…? For what?
-
@Gandor said:
it was so busted, that you might have seen it once per 100 games. Now it's nerfed even more so….
Why is it still in the game? Seems like killers hate it because it's OP and survivors feels it's so OP, that they virtually never take it compared to like… Any other item (maybe with exception to map). These are exactly the things that are win-win if they get fully reworked - survivors are happy because they get something actually interesting to use and killers are happy that they got rid of something "OP".
You see it once per 100 games because it competes with more reliable/safer/easier-to-use items/addons such as Syringe and BNP. Also, the vast majority of casual DBD players never realized how strong Blood Amber was.

Only if you considered crutching on pink bottles and never using yellows his playstyle/identity, in which case, good?
? I've been using yellow bottles extensively ever since they were implemented. Yellows were in the perfect spot during Clown's previous iteration, they were very efficient support tools giving him some map/carry mobility and increasing the lethality of the purples (his main offensive tool) in many loops. And if you wanted to sway the power balance more towards yellow then you could thanks to addons (the majority of Clowns I went against for the past year were running the now-demise Cigar Box so yellows weren't even underused too).
