But am I missing something? Read my reply to Grootdude (MVP) pls
I did, but my statement still stands tbh. Some survivors react too the Lullaby, but at that point it doesn't matter if you brought Distressing on her, they'll react the same, it's the ones who go by Terror Radius are the ones caught off guard by MaA. It also helps a lot if you pair it with Nurse's, as it's even harder for Survivors too find a safe spot too heal.

But if they’re good then they’d split up regardless of ruin or corrupt and wouldn’t be 3-gening themselves, perks don’t stop good survivors from splitting up.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/875563#Comment_875563
And how often does Ruin last longer than corrupt? Not very often.
it doesn't last more then 2 minutes usually, but that's why I said if it does it's better then Corrupt. I've had games it lasted the entire match, they aren't common but it does happen. If I had brought Corrupt instead of Ruin in those games then I wouldn't of won them because Corrupt leaves you as 3 perk killer after 2 minutes.

It doesn't work on lullabies. The devs have confirmed this.
I know, re-read it, I'm talking about their terror radius. Both killers still have them, and MaA works amazing on Huntress, and it's good on Freddy with the pill addon.

If they’re so good then they’d do that with ruin up.🤔 I won’t have to waste as much time patrolling while corrupt is up.
Fact. It's as Tru3 said, Ruin is better if it lasts longer then Corrupt, while Corrupt only has 2 minutes before you're a 3 perk killer, but they can't break Corrupt.

I want Robert Englund Freddy too be a thing, and new Nightmare Freddy, but I know it's a long shot for those too happen.

Freddy and Huntress do not benefit from M&A. I'd be willing to bet that demodaddy doesn't either.
What? Freddy and Huntress def benefit from MaO, Huntress especially. Having a 20 meter terror radius reduced too 12, plus the fact her lullaby isn't directional based, and you can get some pretty sneaky huntress hits. Freddy with MaO is great when paired with the pills, as it makes him a lot sneakier and harder too detect.

Toxicity rains in this game because it's all ranked based, so it encourages sweat, salt, and the downside of toxicity. The game needs a quick match mode and a ranked mode, so it's easier too both balance and too not have such a competitive environment.

If we could see our personal escape/kill rates as survivors/killers in the game, that would put an end to many threads questioning the accuracy of the released stats and would make balancing the game easier, because the players would accept balance changes much easier than now.
It's not really such a difficult feature to implement.
I would love this. Could even be a national and global leader board in order too show how good/bad you are in the grand schemes. I always wonder who is the best Freddy in the entire world.

They never said that information was fake because they were the ones who launch it. I don't get where you got that from.
It did tell you what killers were popular each console.

https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/953/XQEQID0NITG6.jpg
A gen takes 80 seconds to do, you can research it or test it out yourself.
Just watch the video or look for the forum page yourself.
Thought it was fake because there was a time where someone "leaked" the stats of dbd when they were completely wrong.
And I know a gen takes 80 seconds, you're missing my point. The point is how long does a gen take between killers, IE. Does the first gen pop faster on Nurse or Freddy? etc. And the video is based on the stats that BVHR provided, which means it's not accurate since it doesn't take out any factors that could change the data like perks, gen times, addons/items, etc.
-
@Zoldyar said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/107600/so-the-official-stats-for-dbd-came-out
The previous data the devs release gave out all the information you need. For example:
Pretty sure the devs said that info was fake, didn't they? And even if that is from the devs, it doesn't tell you anything but game length. It doesn't say which killer is the best per console, what's the must used/least used perks, how long does gen 1 take, how long does gen 2 take, etc. That's the info that could be useful and fun too discuss for balance reasons, but the stats posted are so inaccurate you can't use them for anything.

I actually JUST finished the Trapper one for 5 traps. These are do-able.
If luck is on your side, sure it's do-able. There's no way someone is just gonna be able too save 2 people during EGC, and they have too be safe unhooks in a game or 2, it's all down too luck, nothing more. You're not even guaranteed an EGC in a match, or people are gonna be hooked.
-
@Fibijean said:
I understand the frustration, but perhaps it would be a good idea to save the complaints for after we've all had a shot at the trials. As @LordGlint just demonstrated, many of the challenges probably seem a lot more insurmountable than they actually are.
The Tome, incidentally, wasn't what you paid for. And I'm sorry to be that person, but no one forced you to pay for the Rift pass either. If you weren't satisfied with what you were getting at the time that you paid for it, it probably would have been a better idea not to.
What's done is done, though, and I'm sure my telling you things you already know isn't easing the regret. So give the challenges a go - you might find they're not as terrible as you think, and you may end up getting more out of that pass you paid for than you're expecting to right now.
"no one forced you too pay for the rift pass." This would be true if the free pass was worth it's weight. You get half cosmetic sets, bad pins, and air. Not even bloodpoints or iridescent shards.
The rift pass, like all battle passes, encourages people too buy them because of exclusive content. Just because you don't have too buy them doesn't mean it's that simple. The week 3 challenges, to me, say "You could grind for days too get 3 challenges done, OR you could pay up and get it all easy." It's meant too try and force people too buy battle pass levels.

I'm not sure what's confusing you here, but saying that they are all over 60% is objectively true.
Who said I was confused? Also, why aren't you talking about the entire post, and only picking the one part where I said the win rate is over 60%?
Should I assume it's a No too ever getting stats that are accurate and can be used for discussions? Is it also a no too ever getting survivor based stats?
-
@Peanits said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/874504#Comment_874504
I have never claimed that they are "actually around 60%". I've only stated that they are all at least 60%- which is true. Even the Clown, who is the lowest on those graphs, is over 60%.
Stats alone are not enough to make decisions on. Even we do not make decisions purely based on stats. We could go into very specific details, but there's always going to be a "what if". What if you counted this as well? What if you exclude that? What if you only look at matches with this perk?
Point being, the stats are there for fun and to spark conversation, not make conclusions.
"Nope, the target we aim for is 50%. The numbers they're actually pulling in are all over 60% right now. I can confirm that they are accurate."
This is a direct quote from you earlier in the thread, you literally say they are all over 60%, which is confirming that killers all are around 60% or higher, so if you are aiming for 50% and the lowest a killer is is 60%, with the highest being around 70% in the stats, then they aren't accurate.
Also, how can we start conversations when every time someone does a dev comes in and says "We said it in the stats post and I'll say it again here, you should not draw conclusions from those stats. They are about as broad as they get. They don't show details and account for any amount of factors."? What's the point of giving stats when it doesn't mean anything in the end and people can't use them for conversations? Will we ever get stats that are actually based for balancing so people can have conversations about them?
-
Pop Goes, Ruin or Corrupt, Sloppy, and STBFL. Anything too slow the survivors progress will help clown, since his problem is gens, not chases.
-
@Peanits said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/874446#Comment_874446
This is why historical we have not released stats that often; when we do, even if we suggest not drawing conclusions, some people will draw conclusions.
Why not simply give us stats that we CAN draw conclusions from? Why must the stats be so vague and inaccurate for when you make them public? When can we see stats that we can use for balance suggestions? When are we getting stats that are accurate and have all factors accounted for? Where are the survivor stats?
Also, if you're aiming for 50%, all killers are actually around 60%, but the stats posted have killers at 70%, there is still a massive problem.

Why? What reason would PC or console be separate? They aren't 2 separate games. I continue to ask this of people who declare that PC stats should be separate from console stats and I have yet to get a valid answer. The only difference between the two is framerate, which effects next to nothing in a game like this. Literally no difference.
Because they control in completely different ways. best example is Nurse. On PC Old Nurse was the best in the game, but on Console she's the worst. Combining her stats together completely ruins any valuable data that could be gathered since it's too different variables.

@Xetoil said:
I think the issue is less that they're too hard, but that the way the tome is structured puts survivors at direct competition with each other (in the form of having to get 25 safe unhooks before being able to attempt other challenges). Meaning that for a short period after the level release you're going to see a disparity between survivors priorities in-game, potentially making it harder to escape until a significant portion of the playerbase has completed that challenge.
It would be antithetical to BHVRs financial needs for everyone to complete each level in the timeframe provided as they would earn their Auric Cells back, which is not an ideal situation to be the norm. However I don't think the current tome as demonstrated by level III is an effective way of ensuring the distribution that they're after.
I wrote about this in depth here:
I would be fine with how hard the master challenges are if they weren't Trial restricted. As someone on reddit said, even if you have too get 5 safe unhooks during the EGC it would be fine because it's not trial restricted.
-
@DarthRane said:
I haven't looked at all of them but most are fine. The worst ones (off the top of my head) are sacrifice 2 survivors during egc and pull I think it was 2 survivors off generators. It's damn near impossible to pull survivors off gens even with GF and he arguably has the highest potential to do it.
Most of the survivors just looked like it will take sometime but theyre not hard.
One survivor challenge I forgot too add was "get 2 safe unhooks during EGC in one match." which is literally impossible unless the stars a line. and it's not 2 pulls, it's 6! you pretty much have too run Prayer Beads Spirit, or go too lery's with Myers or Ghostface.
-
He does have an audio with him when in stealth, which is his robes making noise. It use too be 16 meters I believe, but it was reduced because it made him way too easy too detect for being around, now it's 8 meters.
Honestly, the best solution is just run Spine Chill. It crushes all stealth killers and completely counters Prayer beads Spirit. It's such an underrated perk but it has saved me so many times I've lost count.

Ah, the classic BHVR solution: run a perk to fix an aspect of the game that annoys you, instead of actually addressing the problem.
But there isn't a problem though, if you don't take the time too cleanse then you know the risk. I forget too cleanse a few times and sometimes I'm punished for it by noed. It sucks but that's how the game workk, it's a cause and effect.

I agree, some the survivor and killer challenges are way too hard and luck based to be doable in a realistic timespan. I think killer has got it worse though (like seriously, sacrifice two survivors AFTER EGC has started with NOED? ######### are they thinking?), but survivor still has some terrible ones too. Just think, this isn't even the fourth tome yet, and that one has some challenges that are virtually impossible.
These challenges need tweaking, really badly
Agreed, they won't though because the devs rarely every listen too the community about these things. It's unfortunate but true.

You don't always have the luxury of taking the time to find and cleanse all the totems, you know. The longer you wait to finish the gens, the more time you give the killer to find you and hook you.
Run Small game, or the new Detectives Hunch. They give you all the info you need too find totems.

Unlike DS, Noed does have a counter, which is cleansing. If you won't spend the time needed too cleanse you know the risk. DS doesn't have a counter besides slugging, and even then they can be picked up. DS's change needs too be that it ends if another survivor is hooked. I once hooked 2 people, found a third, then got hit with DS because I was "tunneling." It needs too be for that purpose, tunneling, not a get out of jail free card because the survivor jumped into a locker.

This. She can be one of the best killers in the game, but it all depends on if survivors cleanse or not. her power is not in her control, it's in the survivors.
Personally I think the opposite, she needs buffs too incentivize people too cleanse. My idea is too make them 5% slower while fully infected.

Cleansing totems take up a lot of time in your average game. Not only that but you lose a lot of objective points because your teammates will be doing most the gens.

I read the original post, but that doesn't change my point on the fact challenges shouldn't be stuck on single trials.

@GrootDude said:
Excluding endgame collapse challenges, most challenges are fine, you’ll just have to grind a bit. The unhook 25 survivors one kinda sucks too since it encourages bt hook farming and the Trapper one might be difficult but most are still fine.
Honestly I gotta disagree. I simply can't see how "Unhook 2 survivors during EGC and they must be safe hooks in one trial" is not bad. That's an atrocious challenge, and it's not even skill based, it's pure luck.
This is just one challenge of an entire level of poorly thought out challenges. Some more examples of bad ones.
1: Sacrifice 2 survivors during EGC with noed.
2: Hook a survivor in the basement while someone is already in the basement wirth Monstrous Shrine.
3: Escape a trial without being hooked using Spine Chill.
The whole of levels 3 and 4 are just clearly not tested. There's no way a dev tester tried these challenges and said "yea an average player can do this easily." These challenges are pure luck based, and someone on the reddit said it best, they said that if the master challenges were simply not trial restricted, then it wouldn't be as bad as it could still be done realistically, just really time consuming. This is what needs too be done too make the challenges not luck based.

Want too know what else is boring and unfun? survivors bringing multiple toolboxes and Prove Thyself too speed through the gens in 5 mins, ignoring even healing.
Slow down builds are literally the only way too counter gen rushing. Once gen rushing gets fixed and addressed, then we can start doing something about slow down builds.
-
Just like how they lie when they say the stats are accurate.
-
Freddy: Don't be asleep, he literally has 0 powers if you are awake, and even then running Small Game completely counters him and his abilities since it activates on Dream Pallets and Snares. He has counterplay, it just takes time too learn them.
Ghostface: Run Spine Chill, and you're golden. I run Spine Chill on my normal build, and it saved me more times then I can count when fighting all stealth killers. It's very underrated and absolutely is worth the perk slot.
These killers do have counterplay, it's just they are very high skill caps, and as such will have harder too counter abilities, but they do have counterplay.

Challenges are not worth the amount of BPs and shards given to complete. Most of them are within the 30K mark which is equivalent to a daily that can be done in one match, but these challenges offer the same payout as a daily but the price you have to pay is not equivalent to that of said challenge. Example: unhook 25 survivors/ kick 40 pallets/generators. Although these are very reasonable challenges the amount of time it takes to complete solely one of these challenges does not match the vaule of you receive for completion.
On another note there are some challenges that require you to play bad or lose on purpose in order to fulfill the requirements needed to complete said challenge this encourages stale gameplay and to some who want to play the game you could have many teammates sandbag each other or DC just to complete a challenge ASAP. My proposal to this situation is to fix certain challenges that have specific requirements that are odly absurd and to match the level of rewards to that of the level of the challenge at hand.
If you think they are bad now, just wait till the 4th level, good luck getting 4 people in the basement, or killing 3 survivors during EGC with noed up. Devs won't change it even though the community has said multiple times it's way too hard.

A friend of mine recently posted a fairly active thread on the state of Demogorgon, and cited the fact that he's one of the least played Killers with the lowest win rates as one of the reasons Demo needs buffs.
Peanits comes along like "lol actually the stats aren't accurate, and the reason Demo isn't played is cause he's hard lol. Also way less people play Hag lmao."
The devs specifically release stats to explain to us why they make balance changes but then completely ignore their own stats when balance changes are suggested. Again what's the point of releasing stats then? Why tell us that post-rework Nurse is the only Killer with a sub 50% kill rate just to tell us "she's hard lol that's why she isn't getting kills", or to tell us that Clown is one of the least played Killers in the game just to say "he's hard lol that's why people don't play him."
"They're hard lol" isn't a good reason for a character to be dogshit tier.
Agreed. Plus the devs keep saying "The stats are accurate, but we didn't remove any factors that could alter a killer's kill rate." which means it isn't accurate. The devs said that all killers are around 50% kill rate, but the stats posted go as high as 70%, so now people are calling for those killers too be nerfed.
Honestly they just need too remove the stats and give us stats that are actually accurate, not random stats that don't even work because they are combined from both console and PC.

@twistedmonkey said:

Of course they are as that is what a broad stat is.
These particular statistic show the kills over all ranks, platform along with popularity. That itself is still an accurate statistic for what they represent.
Whether they are accurate to use for overall balancing is the question (which we know they are not)
It can't be accurate if there are factors that change the result. And it doesn't even show kills well because they combined Console and PC together, which completely ruins the data. If they were separate then that would be one thing, but having both combined completely changes how the data looks.

That's what I stated in my first post 😉.
The stats are accurate for what they represent.
The devs have said not to draw conclusions from them regarding balance as they basically don't show the whole picture.
That means anyone who does draw conclusions on either side are not thinking about anything and everything and are just using them to try and fit what they want to believe but not what is actually the case 😁.
That's the problem, they aren't accurate. You can't have broad and accurate stats, it's simply not possible. If you exclude factors that would change the data from the data, the data is inaccurate. All it does is give us a very, very vague idea of where killers sit. Someone said that the actual killer win rate is 50%, but the data says it's up too 70%, which is causing people too say "nerf x killer." If this is true, the data is off by 20%, which is the farthest thing from accurate that is possible.

They are both accurate and broad. I think they word you're looking for is precise. They are not looking a specific thing (e.g. Which is stronger, snares or fake pallets?), which is why you should not make a very specific conclusion with them.
accurate and precise are synonyms, and if they are accurate, then why can we not draw conclusions from it? you are telling two different stories here. You can't have data that is both broad and accurate, it's simply not possible. If killers have around 50% win rate with everything factored in, but the data posted says they are in the 70% range, then it isn't accurate. It's simply not possible.

The stats are accurate for what they actually represent. What makes you state they aren't? broad stats after all doesnt mean inaccurate.
Peanits simply said dont read too much into them as the be and end all of balancing as they take in many many more factors nothing more.
Of course they are broad and as I said all stats will always be that way for some as can never be what people want. The game is so varied on what can be used each match a stat on every single possible perk, addon, offering, killer, survivor, rank, skill level, saves, hooks, gens done, gates opened, totems done etc would be impossilbe. The devs have these and if we actually think about it its why things can take so long.
You'll have to forgive me since I don't have time to read through the whole thing right now, but:
I only thought I'd address this now that I finally have the PROOF that Demo is not a powerful killer. As per the stats released, at red ranks, Demo fairs very poorly, having the SECOND LOWEST kill rate in the game, just barely above The Clown.
We said it in the stats post and I'll say it again here, you should not draw conclusions from those stats. They are about as broad as they get. They don't show details and account for any amount of factors. To give an example, he's just barely below the Nurse and the Huntress, two fairly powerful killers. Are they bad too? I feel like most people would say no, they just have a learning curve and there's a lot of people who don't regularly play them will pull those numbers down.
This quote from Peantis. they said "They don't show details and account for any amount of factors" which means they aren't accurate. You can't have broad and accurate stats, if you can't factor in everything in a stat/stats, then it is inaccurate.
-
Honestly the only way too fix legion is just a full on rework like Freddy. His power will either be too strong and uncounterable like Old Legion, or really weak and pathetic like New Legion. I can't see a way for him too be balanced without an entire overhaul.
-
100% agree. It's one of the reasons I don't like playing survivor is the struggle mechanic. It really needs too be automatic. The game lost it's horror elements a while ago, so having this mechanic still in doesn't fit anything.
-
@twistedmonkey said:
It doesn't matter what stats they give some will never be happy.
The problem with any stats is the fact it can show how the game played out, what add-ons or items could be used, what perks ett I mean how can you account for if survivors throw themselves at a hook, rush gens, use perks or items to do gens faster compared to not. Killers using the best add-ons, camping, tunnelling etc rank disparity per match there is just so many ways it can go.
There is so many factors in how a game plays out no matter the stats they will always be in a way useless and why the devs simply stated not to draw conclusions from them in terms of balance for the game as they take in many more factors.
No stats will ever show what people want. For example some people want swf only at red ranks but what if that showed killers on average still got more kills per match? Would you then want it show the best swf players only? What If that still showed the same? would it be show us the best swf using the crutch perks? Or using the best items? It would be never ending.
The above also applies to showing only the best killer players.
The only stats I see changing a mindset is when they show the thing some want to see or believe. If they don't will forever be disregarded as people will just not believe them.
Damned if they do and damned if they don't is all I can see with most posts about all and any stats.
I will be happy when we get accurate stats. My post is simply saying that the stats are useless since it doesn't cover anything. I agree that it is hard too look at stats with so many factors, but too post them and say "They are accurate. The reason why you shouldn't draw conclusions from there is because they are very broad." it tells two different stories. You can't have accurate stats if you don't account for many, if not all the factors in said stats.
I am happy at some things the devs do, but the things I'm not I'm gonna talk about it, as people should. I am happy they are trying too post stats, but the stats are useless if it's not accurate.

They are accurate. The reason why you shouldn't draw conclusions from there is because they are very broad. They don't tell you what perks, offerings, or add-ons were used, what maps it was played on, etc.
To give an example, you shouldn't look at it and go, "Wow, Freddy is OP!" That's a blanket statement. You should only use it as we do, to see where a problem might be. Is it Freddy himself, or is it a specific combination of add-ons and offerings? Is it the snares or the pallets? These are the sorts of questions you should be asking.
They can't be accurate and broad, it's one or the other. If they are accurate then everything should be accounted for, if they are broad with many factors that weren't checked, then they are inaccurate. The fact that the stats are mixed between console and PC alone make it incredibly inaccurate because it's two very different playstyles. Old Nurse was the best on PC, but the worst on console, if you mix those two stats together it would be a very inaccurate and not tell the full story.
This is a direct quote from you on a Demogorgon post:
When you even say "They don't show details and account for any amount of factors." then you can't say they are accurate. You can't have no details and it be accurate.

Where did they say it was not accurate?
All i heard was that they don't base patches only on numbers.
As for sharing the data: People love getting data, regardless of how worthless it may be.
I mean, the proof for that increases with every discussion started based on these stats.
So why not share it? It keeps conversations alive.
That said, it's not like i'm against getting ALL the data...

This is a direct quote from peantis when someone made a Demogorgon post. She legit says that they are inaccurate and that you shouldn't rely on them.
